About Lacrosse
Lacrosse is a team sport, where a ball ("Lacrosse ball") is passed between teammates, using a stick with a mesh/net at the end (a Lacrosse stick, also known as "crosse").
On the field, there will be 10 players of each team, namely, one goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders and three attackers. There are different kinds of sticks used. A short stick measures between 40 and 42 inches (100 and 110 cm) long and is usually used by attackmen and midfielders. A long stick measures between 52 and 72 inches (130 and 180 cm) long, and only a maximum of 4 outfield players are allowed to use it (usually 3 defenders + 1 defensive midfielder). For the goalkeeper, a stick of any length between 40 and 72 inches is allowed.
The regulation playtime is 60 minutes long, divided into 4 periods of 15 minutes each. Play is started at the beginning of each quarter and after each goal with a face-off. To score a goal, a team must propel the ball into the goal such that it fully crosses the goal line. The team who scores the most goals win. Should there be a tie after regulation, overtime will be employed. Per international lacrosse rules, two straight 5-minute overtime periods will be played. Should the score remain tied, the sudden victory rules will be employed.
Roster
A standard roster comprises of 30 players, usually comprising of 3 goalkeepers and 27 outfield players. Apart from that, teams will usually give some additional pointers that helps in the roleplaying. These may include: history of the team; the character of the coaches and players; play style of the team; selection of the starting team.
For reference, you may refer to the roster of the defending champions from the last edition.
Every roster should also contain a RP permissions box. This allows opponents to understand what should or should not be RPed. A sample of such a box is as follows:

EDIT (010921, 0300 UTC): Multiple formats are being considered, given that we have exceeded the last proposed format of 30 teams. This includes a 8 group of 4 home-and-away, and a 4 group of 8 single play-off. The decision will be made at the group draw.
EDIT (010921, 1435 UTC): Edited post to include group stage. 4 groups of 8 single round robin would be employed instead.
