Before we await the grand and marvelous event that is the qualification for the World Cup, it has been decided by the Football Federation of Atheara (FFA) that the season should be hosted. We are not sure as to why for the reasoning of this change of schedule from post-WCQ to pre-WCQ, but nonetheless the decision for the change is final. And with that, for The Republics Cup, we have a rematch of last season's edition. Congratulations to Ezpitia FC for winning back to back Republic Cups! An intense first match where everything was level by the end of things thanks to a ridiculous goal that came from a free kick from the side of EZP's box and a strike by ASR. While the second match was filled with absolute intense silence until a flare of a goal was striked within the final minutes of the match. An absolutely crazed fight.

And as for the league, things are extremely different this time around. Rather than the monstrous 36-team league that the Athearan Super League has ran for a few seasons, after some protests from fans and players alike along with massive drama and discussion within the board of the FFA, it has been decided that the league will be split up into three divisions. The reason as to why is to promote more diverse football as it has been seen that some teams tend to be on different levels than others. Several other reasons include the amount of fixtures one team has to play along with the addition of four new teams within the flight of Athearan football. The three divisions are the Premier Division (Fremste Divisjon), First League Division (Første Ligadivisjon), and the Second League Division (Andre Ligadivisjon). The Premier Division will have 12 teams while the First and Second League Divisions will have 14. All four new teams, which are Kallen City FC (KCI), Sara Damia City (SDC), Unnerkoven Hunters (UNK), and Gravenbelst FC (GVB) will be starting their journey within the Andre Ligadivisjon. All divisions will have 2 relegation and promotion spots (Except the Premier Division when it comes to promotion because it is the top flight). But while the bottom last team of a division will be automatically relegated, the second worst team will face off the second best team in a playoff to decide promotion/relegation. The teams for each division was decided by the table from last season.

Those are also not the only changes that were done. A lot of changes and modifications were done for the Athearan Championship as well! Main reasons include as for it to not count as a post-season playoff tournament, and to ensure that every team has an actual chance of winning the entire thing. The Championship shall now be run in conjunction with the Premier, First League, and Second League Divisions. While the format shall stay the same for the most part, the modifications are to ensure a 15 team knockout tournament from a 40 team group stage.

And with that, the season was sprung.

STORY OF THE WEEK:
HUNVARDEHM PORT SUPPORTERS ARE FURIOUS! - Sometimes when your team has a bad record, you often don't have the right to complain too much out of proportion. Maybe they were just outclassed or a decision by the referee was done unjustly (Although that being rather rare in Atheara). Perhaps it just may be terrible luck or maybe even something that is completely out of the club's, management, player's, or out of the fan's control. However, Hunvardehm Port fans, supporters, and ultras are absolutely furious for great reason. HVD currently sit with the worst record amongst all three divisions, having a 1 - 2 - 10 record and a 5 - 18 goal differential in just the span of 13 games. The players all look admittedly lazy on the pitch, dissent spreading amongst the club's management, and several accidents have shown that for one reason or another, Hunvardehm is collapsing and the fans are rightfully mad. They weren't like this some time ago, what in the world was going on? Unless the club is able to turn things in at least a 150 degree mark with the combined efforts from everyone, Hunvardehm might be in for trouble with themselves and potentially the FFA.

Athearan Super League Season 2, and The Athearan Championship
We've already known what changes that are implemented for the Athearan Super League and the Athearan Championship, but we certainly didn't expect it to have this much of an effect. First, let's speak of the Athearan Super League divisions. For the Fremste Divisjon, the competitiveness of typical Athearan football still proceeds to breathe in and out of the players and the fans. Even if the tables don't show it, each individual match tends to show just how much fighting spirit each team has when it comes to the top. Perhaps the addition of relegation has helped breathe more life to the teams. Next up is the Første Ligadivisjon, which also sees the same amount of competitiveness of the Fremste Divisjon. But a difference many could see is the fact that the first league division is more physical than the typical Athearan football. Perhaps with the second tier being a more "fight for survival" type of scenario has contributed to that. And then comes the Andre Ligadivisjon. Which according to some would actually be the most competitive, depending on how you see it. The game is more relaxed within the third flight of Athearan football, as that's a bit of a surprise. Though who knows, the atmosphere might change sooner or later.

Moving on from the Athearan Super League, let's take a look on the Athearan Championship. Starting out teams in a group stage just like last season, but it was five groups of eight within a single round robin! Certainly an unexpected combination that not many saw coming. The Round of 14 and the best team in the group stage heading straight into the next round is also an interesting twist, as is strays away from usual Athearan formats used for tournaments and cup competitions. But, the surprise is certainly a welcome one as fans reportedly have mostly positive reviews and replies to the new changes and formats. Yet as it turns out, the Football Federation of Atheara isn't done from announcing things. They've also announced the Promotion-Relegation Playoffs! How will these playoffs work? Well, the second best team of the Andre Ligadivisjon and the second worst team of the Første Ligadivisjon along with the second best team of the Første Ligadivisjon and the second worst team of the Fremste Divisjon will face off in a two legged affair to decide whether a team goes up or goes down. Hopefully these playoff matches will be full of excitement, as these matches can decide a team's fate for their next season.

STORY OF THE WEEK:
CELEBRATIONS AND COMMISERATIONS ALL OVER ATHEARA - As the Athearan Championship, and more importantly, the Athearan Super League comes to a close, many players, coaches, and supporters from different areas come to celebrate. We should start with the more unexpected victories for the few that did achieve them. Kallen City, in just their first season within a domestic flight wins the Andre Ligadivisjon and will be playing within the Første Ligadivisjon next season. Which is quite a wild thought. The new fans that decided to support the team, along with the players and manager couldn't be more than estatic that they have achieved such success within their first season as a professional team. But in place of Kallen City are the Astena Aphilists. With a 4 - 11 - 11 record they are automatically relegated to the third division. The players have shown sadness and the fans didn't want it to happen, but it did. Yet despite that, hopes are up that they will immediately bounce back next season. When it comes to unexpected victories, Westeria FC is a good name to mention as they defeat Neidegrad City in the Athearan Championship finals! While the blues will have to stay contempt with second place, the westerners will be glad that they have achieved a trophy at long last. The celebrations didn't stop when all division and championship winning teams gathered at the Astena Stadium for them to all lift their trophies, as the fans cheer and celebrate with one another over their respectiveteam's success. With that, hopefully other teams start to pick up the pace to try and catch up with their own happiness.

Athearan Baseball National, First Half
While the Athearan Baseball National was promised for many fans to be enjoyed throughout the nation, many internal problems early on within the organization and the Communion of Athearan Baseball. This included many arguements along with controversies regarding the possibility of drafting, the possibilities for college and university baseball, problems regarding logistics that were somehow unanswered, amongst many other difficulties. However, after quite some time the organization was able to sort things out as they were able to finally commit the introduction for the Athearan Baseball National! The twenty eight teams all lined up and introduced themselves with glamorous fashion within the city that will host the final match for the championship after the league stage is complete. Another problem that arised was the announcement itself. The mistake was that the Eastern Conference will have three slots into the Championship while the 3rd best team in the Central and West will fight it out for the 8th Championship slot, so forgive us for that!

Anyways, let us continue on. If you need a repeat of the teams in each conference, the teams for the EAST CONFERENCE are the Mugendar Blades, Sisalena Kings, Hunvardehm Sharks, Westeria Lions, Harindar Guardians, Ezpitia Javelins, Ozpetia Grenadiers, Ourweck Razors, Ederkhen Glaciers, and the Nikelbaure Lords. Meanwhile, the teams that will be playing in the CENTRAL CONFERENCE will be the Sardana Knights, Kesteria Runners, Neidegrad Paladins, Rekozia Sealions, Feyerisk Islanders, Kallen Saints, Ausborne Drums, Riyagur 24's, and the Fedalgio Panthers. And finally, the WEST CONFERENCE will consist of the teams that are the Astena Warhawks, Newercliff Rodents, Estria Lancers, Trinover Cliffers, Trinover 65'ers, Punterland Cavers, Astena Trumpets, Olhlem Punters, and the Halshiretz Revolutionaries. Each team presented their players, coaching staff, team logo and all of them agreed to host a fun game of friendly baseball where all team personnel were allowed to participate. This all happened in the city of Sisalena, which won the bid for who will host the finals of the Athearan Baseball National's Championship Final.

STORY OF THE WEEK
ATTENDANCES STAND STEADY - While baseball in Atheara is often watched by the people of the country when the national team plays in the World Baseball Classic, the Communion of Athearan Baseball had a fear of low viewership for the Athearan Baseball National considering that this would be their first ever season as an actual professional league, and due to the fear of the teams being too low of quality. Although it would prove true that the teams wouldn't have that much quality, viewership was surprisingly nice and steady especially for live attendance. Not sure why, but it could be down due to the high scored that the teams constantly have against eachother considering The Republic for the longest time hasn't had a league for a high scoring sport. A few games to take example would be a recent game between the Ezpitia Javelins and Westeria Lions where the game ended in a 13-9 win for the Lions! Another game would be on Matchday 2 between the Fedalgio Panthers and the Ausborne Drums, which ended in a 10-9 victory for the Panthers. Overall so far, the league has had rather nice success and the Communion of Athearan Baseball hopes to continue their growth from here on out.

Athearan Baseball National, Second Half
The first half of the Athearan Baseball National has seen the teams get used to the professional scene, and they all have gathered themselves quite well! The competition, rivalry, support, and professionalism can be seen from the team and the viewers which the Communion of Athearan Baseball has noted. However, one thing that the CAB has also noted as rather worrying is the amount of rather high scores in baseball. Many teams are somewhat often hitting double digits when it comes to their scorelines, some teams are getting battered by a total of five runs or more and some don't even score a run at all. Now while baseball is a naturally high scoring game, such scores and generally hardcore playing isn't often seen in Atheara... But maybe this is a good thing for the nation. There needs to b e one sport to truly allow the fans to release their pure emotions and baseball seems to be the sport for it. While this has resulted in some players getting in eachother's faces and some fans committing shithousery, actual violent outbreaks are yet to happen.

And that is the reason on why the Communion of Athearan Baseball decides not to clamp down on all of this, seeing as Athearans in general don't have the true capability to commit massive acts of outrage and that the CAB believes that the people has moved on from the old era of Athearan behaviour towards sports, shortly after the nation had earned true independence and unity. The CAB has also tried to figure out if violence that could and will cause deaths in the future through polling and suveys. Results reveal that based on the emotions shown during matches, it's unlikely for such an event to happen meaning that the CAB will let things continue as status quo unless a massive incident were to happen. Hopefully such a catastrophic type of event never does happen so that Athearans will continue to truly have an emotional outlet for the time.

STORY OF THE WEEK
A CHANCE TO MAKE HISTORY - The playoff for the sacred eighth slot has been done and the bracket has been drawn! Eight teams from the three conferences that were lucky to scrape through will have a chance to bestow themselves into Athearan sporting history as the first champions of the Athearan Baseball National. All of the championship rounds barring the grand finals will be a Best of 7, while the Grand Finals will be a Best of 9. Each team has had their unique style of play and characteristics shown within the conferences, and this equates to eight of Atheara's best colours to show themselves at the highest level. From the 100 Runs For record breaking Ederkhen Glaciers to the rather passive yet dominant Olhelm Punters. From the cold depths of the Nikelbaure Lords down west towards the coasts of the Estria Lancers. Who will win the Championship and crown themselves the winner?

Athearan Baseball National, Championship Rounds
With the league round of the Athearan Baseball National over, it was time for the tournament to head towards the championship round of it all. Eight teams here, that all scraped through the conferences against other teams (And one having to go through a deciding playoff series) are given the chance to create history. They've already done so by getting into the championship, but whoever wins it all will seal their status as part of a new great and potentially, an entirely brand new legacy. And considering this is the first edition of the Athearan Baseball National, despite the numbers and statistics, it is believed that all of these eight teams have a properly equal chance of signing their name of virtue into Atheara's sporting cabinet. The neutral viewers all believe that, the players believe in that, the coaches, the pundits, the so called experts... All of them believe that this was everyone's equal, golden opportunity.

Two brackets, seven total matches that will be played for the Athearan Baseball National's Championship Round. Up to a total of fifty one games could possibly be played throughout the entire championship (That includes the maximum amount of games from each series match up). The players have it all ready to ball it out on the field, the coaches and team staff are all prepared for the long game of strategy and tactical manuevering in order to win it all, the fans and supporters are ready to watch their team potentially win it all, as the rest of Atheara view this Championship in utter excitement about the possible success it will bring. If Atheara's domestic baseball scene thrives, perhaps the national baseball team will too sometime.

And thus, the two final remaining teams are finally decided!

STORY OF THE WEEK
NEIDEGRAD PALADINS AND OLHELM PUNTERS SHALL CLASH! - After many grueling matches between the eight teams and the insane series match ups that were given, two teams were able to scrape through to the grand finals. The Neidegrad Paladins of the Central Conference and Alpha Bracket will be facing off against The Olhelm Punters of the Western Conference and Omega Bracket. The Paladins didn't have to scrae througb by small margins, winning against the Nikelbaure Lords rather comfortably by a series score of 4 - 2. The Kesteria Runners were faced in the semifinals and the Paladins also made rather short work of them, just five matches for a 4 - 1 scoreline to enter the finals. Meanwhile, The Olhelm Punters had to fight tooth and nail. Their series against The Estria Lancers resulted into a series point Match 7, with the Punters winning. But the same tale would also happen against The Riyagur 24's, both series ended up being rather exhausting for the Punters. But they made it through, and the Paladins are all that stands from them making history. Who will win in this first ever Athearan Baseball National Grand Finals? The Neidegrad Paladins or The Olhelm Punters? Keep yourself updated as the start of the series takes place soon. Remember that it's a Best of Nine, and the first to five takes it all!

Athearan Baseball National, Championship Grand Finals
Many weeks of training, practicing, analyzing, strategizing and much much more has finally brought everything down to this moment. Two teams will battle it out for the course of a month or two to see who is the best baseball team in all of Atheara. As the first game is about to begin within the series, the viewers and fans, along the hardcore supporters all cheered throughout. The two teams lined up and sang the national anthem before the game began, shaking their hands and being friendly amongst eachother. But both sides knew that they would try their absolute best to seize victory, as this was history in the making. Everyone had something to lose, something to gain out of the entire series. The ones playing the baseball itself right at the field were the ones who knew that best for the next month and so.

And with that, the grand finals are decided!

So far this series seems to be rather competitive but I do sense the frustration that's coming from the Paladins, seems like they know that they can do more. That they can do better than currently. Either way that will be all for game three for the Athearan Baseball National Championship Grand Finals as The Neidegrad Paladins take it one up once again against The Olhlem Punters..."

It's getting a bit rought but three Paladin players and four Punter players seem to have separated their respective teammates from a clash... I wonder what that was about just now? Hopefully it wasn't anything extremely serious or there could be problems..."

Quick and precise throw but Habsell strikes it timely! The ball isn't catched and Van Gackabell corsses home base for first run in inning six! But as quick as it wa, Olhelm out Randovic - Ascoty! And that everyone will be the end for the Paladins batting at inning six as the two teams switch up..."

Though I will be honest the two team throughout this one have been quite shaky. Maybe The Neidegrad Paladins had it worse tonight as the Punters put it at 3 - 3. At this point it's difficult to judge who will be the team to truly take it all..."

Paladins to bat once again as they have a man on second and third, one run here and they will win the championship! Steivan Van De Zwickhaulle will have to aim carefully here and... My goodness it's a long hit by Reuben Toscio! Connor Zachary Evanstone and Requillo Torei take the running from third and second, can the Punters out them in time... No they can't! The rush was quick and smooth, two runs for the Paladins! They have made history, signed their name on the plaque of Athearan sports! Whilst the inning isn't over yet, THE NEIDEGRAD PALADINS ARE YOUR ABN CHAMPIONS!..."

STORY OF THE WEEK
ATHEARAN BASEBALL HAS HISTORY CREATED - Eight games in a Best of Nine. That was what it took for The Neidegrad Paladins to create Athearan sporting history as the team that hailed from southern Neidegrad took it up against The Olhelm Punters. Going through a difficult conference, their first match in the knockouts was against the Nikelbaure Lords and they got through it. Their next opponent, The Kesteria Runners showed a good display as well, but the Paladins still striked through. The new season of domestic top flight football begins with an absolute shocker as the Astena Rangers and Westeria Football Club fight it out in two legs! Yet despite their best efforts, the underdogs still could not overthrow the monarchy in the Astena Rangers, as they proceed to lose the second leg to penalties in dreadening fashion. A slip at the run up caused the penalty to go high, as the supporters and the players either go into absolute delight or break down into tears. This perhaps may be the most exciting Republics Cup so far, with a whopping twelve goals scored in full time plus extra time, as it headed to penalties. Bayerstrome's and Gruttenwald's Blazing Offense!
Within the entirety of the Athearan Super League, two teams are tied for the most goals so far. These two teams are Bayerstrome SC in the Fremste Divisjon of the ASL and Gruttenwald United in the Andre Ligadivisjon. Zakaria Nourenzi and Tristao Vales lead the scoring for Bayerstrome with a total of three goals each, while it would be Carlos Denfield being the main man for Gruttenwald with a total of 5 goals to his name. While these two teams have a great offensive start to the season, they need to fix their defence as both of these teams have also conceded six goals. We'll continue to monitor how these two perform in the next few upcoming matches, as scoring a lot of goals isn't too common in Atheara and several other teams are on track to scoring more goals too. Perhaps there should be an ward for most offensive team of the season seeing how defensive most Athearan teams are, and how Athearans are in general.

Zimmerman Brusteric to Retire by the End of Season
While for the past while there have been many speculations, the club and Brusteric himself have now officially confirmed that he will be retiring by the end of the season. One of the Astena Ranger's best players of this more recent era and of the more secluded, isolate generation, Zimmerman was vital to the Astena Ranger's and Atheara's midfield for the national teams early days. While Zimmerman's announcement to retire has been catching the most attention, many of the Athearan Super League's older players have also announced their retirements by the end of season. And all seem to share the same sentiment that, "Atheara will grow and develop better and better. It's time to let the next generation determine themselves, we've guided them well enough." Directly quoted from former NT and Neidegrad City forward Luis Frawning. who's also retiring this season. Perhaps the next generation will be better, or maybe not. Who knows what fate has for Atheara in football?

Van Agonstad Flips Off Harper!
Remember when John Harper was on the national team? The mute goalkeeper? Yes, yes that one. Mugendar City has had a terrible start so far to the season, being the only team yet to score points in the Athearan Super League three matchdays in. As captain, he has made statements that he does claim responsibility for the team's bad start to the season, but perhaps one person just can't deal with it. After Mugendar lost by a scoreline of 4 - 0 against Gruttenwald on the third matchday, one of the Mugendar City players in Tyler Van Agonstad apparently gave the middle finger towards John Harper. The 35 year old defensive midfielder also ranted after the match claiming that Harper hasn't been doing his best which the rest of the team knows is not true. The FFA has decided to give the 35 year old a three match suspension due to "Aggression towards a teammate whilst showing an innapropiate jesture under the condition of a too harsh reaction to current team situation." Hopefully this does cause a rift in the team, as that is the last thing Mugendar needs right now.

Ezpitia FC, What The Fuck?
Ezpitia Football Club has, for the past few seasons proved themselves that they are definitely one of the challengers that the Astena Rangers should worry about. However, things are rather different for this season as Ezpitia sit at second-last with only four draws, a loss, and no win to their name. What is happening with The Easterners? The answer is well, nothing. This is Athearan football for you, these results often just happen no matter how good of a team you are (Unless you're the Astena Rangers of course). There's no problems with the team, fans, or the club, it's just been a bad end of the straw draw. Multiple times at that. Hopefully they get back on track to winning matches again, because the fans really want this team to win again as every single one of them do. Just like every other club supporters.

Suspension Here and Suspension There!
While the matches itself have been mostly uneventful, there's been two more game suspensions given to two players, both happening on the fifth matchday! In the match between the Deskala Saints and Sara Damia City, Alexander Privel scored the game winning goal with a header on the 4th minute of added stoppage time. In celebration and in the heat of the moment, he made a pretend gesture of holding a gun and firing at the Deskala Saint supporters. The FFA views references to firearms in a gray area, and as such after discussion and a plead by Privel, he was given a one match suspension due to, "Reference towards a firearm in celebration, with the heat of the moment taken into account." The other match suspension was given to Eric La Phelton of Feyerisk Port after trying to argue the referee's decision of giving Neidegrad United a penalty. The official result was a two match suspension due to, "Arguementation against referee decision and near battery of said referee."

Goalkeeping Rivalry Ahead of CAFA Cup
It's been well known that Sebastian Denevorez and Sarian Davelei of the Astena Rangers and AFC Rekozia respectively as the third and second choice goalkeepers for the sixth edition of the CAFA Cup. However, this selection perhaps may have just started a rivalry between the two as they seem to start having a dislike for eachother. Both are young, have a lot of potential, and are in fact some of the best players for their respective teams. Not only that, both are first choice goalkeepers and they do expect equal amount of gametime on the national team. But with Mikel Horzabath Krygorf holding and attempting to key down the national team's first choice slot, for Denevorez and Davelei it really comes down to who performs better and more consistently for who will get more game time on the national team. We just hope that this rivalry helps them improve and does not cause a ruckus, because Atheara wants to do well in this CAFA Cup.

Astena Rangers, Neidegrad City, and Westeria FC On Top!
Nine matchdays within the Fremste, Første, and Andre Divisjon/Ligadivisjons of the Athearan Super League has passed, and for those who haven't been able to catch up too much may be asking who's leading the race so far? Well, for the Fremste Divisjon it's unsurprisingly the Astena Rangers. Surprisingly, in second place is newly promoted Neidegrad United while Bayerstrome SC round up the third spot. The cogs in the ASR machine have certainly been working well lately, and speaking of working, the sails on the ship of The Blue Angels in Neidegrad City have been smoothly working as they are currently first (Tied with Harindar City) in the Første Ligadivisjon and may be aiming for promotion. Meanwhile sitting at the bottom of the ruling pack, Westeria FC have a good hold on the Andre Ligadivisjon and may attempt to continue doing so.

It Rained Yellow and Red!
It should be admitted that this match may be the most fierce match of the season so far. On matchday nine in the Første Ligadivisjon between Neidegrad City and Kallen City FC, a reported total of eight yellow cards and three red cards were given out. And before you ask, no, the referee was not paid to do so and VAR was not malfunctioning as confirmed by the FFA. Both sides just played extremely physically against eachother and a few players were even bleeding on the pitch. For NCI it was Kyle Charlow, Ôrelí Nòrgâ, Austin Goforth, Robin Ulfierssen and Miguel Accalestra who were booked in yellow, while substitute Luis Frawning was checkered with a red. Meanwhile on KCI's side there was Julian Stance, Saubelt Kallen, and Kyle Edenstrong booked with a red. Midato Konokura and Varien Van De Fleuker were booked with red for Kallen City. Neidegrad City ended up winning the match by a scoreline of 1 - 0 after a late 90th minute goal from a free kick.

Hilmihes - Idorivov: "All I Care For is the Talent"
By the time matchday six had passed, Feyerisk Port were at the bottom of the table with only a draw to their name. Now at matchday nine, they are still second last (Only above AFC Rekozia, The difference this time however was that Feyerisk finally had a win to their name, two even! However, it took quite some measures in order to achieve those two wins. Those measures being dropping some of the team's most experienced players and bringing up several new rookie players in Harsckal Van De Kultierro for Vince McTraffien, Eiken Flunter for Markos Van Heilderlund, and Ilyako Exiev for Grant Starretzko. Many originally have drawn criticism to this decision by team manager Fedorado Hilmihes - Idorivov and he's also received a lot of criticism for the team signing Dakota Monroe as some conspiracy theorists believed Dakota was only signed for inclusitivity and to try and get the team to gel again due to rumours surrounding Parker Lundsfeld - Horlow. But his comment disproves the theories. "I signed Monroe because any club would sign a talented player when they see one, and I thought Dakota would fit in well. The statistics certainly say so despite our results, and I believe that talent, capability, and skill should be taken into account ahead of their identity and belief. All I care for is the talent." And his words certainly seem to start making some sense. Hopefully FYK continues on this decent start of form as they try to prove their doubters wrong.

Athearan Championship: Who's Still In?
We are nearing the final matchday of the Athearan Championship, which will decide who will go to the knockout round. However, many are asking on which teams still have a chance to go through so let's review them all. Starting from Group 1, Bayerstrome SC are secured. Meanwhile, Kallen City FC will have to fight Major Fordia FC and the Astena Guards as these two could leap them over. In Group 2, Neidegrad City and Harindar SC have secured qualification and these two will see on the final day on who gets first place. All the teams barring AFC Rekozia and FC Fikares seem to have a chance on the final day. For the bottom two, it's slim to none. We come to Group 3 and it's a dominant sweep for first by the Astena Rangers. Gravenbelst, Westwilm, and the Riyagur Nipherists will have to do their best for a chance to go through with Real Kazatia eyeing up in case things can go their way. For Group 4, the top two teams in Ezpitia FC and Schennerwits City will see who gets to top the group and Uderecth is eliminated as Fallstead have the head-to-head against them. For Group 5 though, the eyes are on the 2nd down to 5th placed teams. Mugendar is eliminated due to the head-to-head against Parkenheight.

FFA to Consider Format Changes for Championship Knockouts
The Football Federation of Atheara is not perfect, and that is a truth. They still make some mistakes despite often for most of the time running football in Atheara rather well. One of the many things that the FFA faces criticism for is the format used for the Athearan Championship, specifically the amount of teams that go through to the knockout rounds. 15 is an odd number for a knockout round, especially when there are available formats for a 16 team knockout round. Not only that, some fans have in fact drawn criticism to the group stage system in itself as it causes some unequal balances of power in the groups. The board will be discussing amongst itself on the possible options to better the Championship format in order to create more enjoyable and fairer football for the Republic and the world to see.

(Near) Halfway Statistics in the Athearan Super League!
Here comes a thing you may or may not have been waiting for and that is half season statistics! Twelve matchdays have passed in the Athearan Super League in total. In the ASL Fremste Divisjon, 120 goals have been scored and recorded so far. For the ASL Første Ligadivisjon that figure has stacked up to a total of 144 goals. The Andre Ligadivisjon takes the cake for most goals scored however, with 168 goals scored. That is a total of 432 goals scored by every team in the ASL. The largest contributors from each division are the current leaders of each league in the Astena Rangers, Neidegrad City, and Westeria FC with a total of 59 goals scored out of the 432 and that consists of 13.65% of the total goals scored. As for goals conceded, the most conceding teams in each division are Bayerstrome SC, Annhover FC and AFC Olhelm (Tied at 18), and Ederkhen United at a total of 74 goals conceded out of 432 and that consists of 17.12% of all goals conceded in the entirety of the ASL. FFA Agrees to Another Championship Format
As Matchday 7 for the Athearan Championship raged on, the directors and other key figures within the hierarchy of the Football Federation of Atheara had gathered to discuss the possibiltiy of using a new format for the Athearan Championship. The board agreed that they would desire a format in which a group stage would still exist, but would ensure a round of sixteen knockout round, rather than the weird first round of fourteen format that the Championship currently has. A few formats were brought up that either proved to have no sense or would be too complex for the fans and/or management of the teams to understand. However, after a while, it was agreed upon that a 5 Team, 8 Group Format would be used for the group stage, and that the top two teams from each group would be able to go through to the knockout round. This effectively keeps the group stage part of the Championship and ensures a Round of 16. And, to not cause further issues, no pots will be used meaning that several teams from one division of the ASL could end up in one group. A vote amongst the teams were held to see if they would agree to this format, and 31 out of the 40 teams chose to agree to the new format despite the possibility of disadvantages within the group stage that could appear.

Teams to Rename Themselves Next Season?
Many people have at one point question why some Athearan Super League teams have names that seem rather lacking in diversity. Well, the answer comes from the earliest era of professional Athearan football, and partly due to the lack of knowledge about club names. In order to join the earliest edition of the Athearan Football League (AFL), teams had to choose a set name that was given by Atheara's oldest form of a football federation, the Athearan Football Union (AFU). This set rule is still engraved in the now Football Federation of Atheara's Rulebook for Integrity and Fairness in the Athearan Super League. However, a recent vote has been made in which the rule would be changed. Now, teams can choose to name themselves in whatever format, as long as it: A. Proves their identity as a football club, B. Does not use foul or inappropiate language, and C. Stands as a professional name to be recognized by. Fans are delighted about this rule change and are certainly excited to see what new names their teams come by with stating next season.

Hunvardehm Port Finally Seems Stable?
Some time ago fans would say that Hunvardehm Port is one of the most unstable clubs in Atheara. There was dissent among the management of the club, the players looked lazy during their time in training and on the pitch, while the fans and ultras were furious at the state of the club. There was no drive for them to try and play some time ago, but now things seem to be very different at the only Hunvardehm based club. This time around, a good amount of the players seem to be motivated to play, while the current manager and club director seem to be content with the current situation of the club. Not only that, the fans and ultras of the team aren't as in a rowdy state as before. Sure, their performance still is not good, but they certainly do seem to be improving even if the ASL Table does not seem to show it. Let's hope this stability continues on, as we wouldn't want such a disaster to happen if a club becomes too unstable.

Gravenbelst Upset Ezpitia to Enter the Quarterfinals!
You know, it's weird. Ezpitia are having a not so great season for their team and their capability right now and they're currently a bit of a meme because of it. Then you realize they lost to Gravenbelst and they are now even more of a meme. Yes, you heard that right. Ezpitia FC lost to Gravenbelst FC in the Round of 14 in the Athearan Championship. Both sides came into this match with their first team line ups and it seemed as if this would be a somewhat easy win for Ezpitia. But they seem to forget that they're Athearan too and the fact that this is Athearan football. Bill Richmore pulled off a nasty free kick several meters away from EZP's box in the 3rd minute of added stoppage time in order to secure the ASL Andre Ligadivisjon club a spot in the Quarterfinals and to knock out an ASL Fremste Divisjon club. The fans and spectators won't be forgetting this moment for a while that's for sure, but we're certain that Ezpitia FC will try to forget this ever happened.

FFA Now Considers the Republics Cup to Change
The Republics Cup has been a rather recent addition to Athearan football in which the winner of the former one division Athearan Super League winner faces off against the winner of the Athearan Championship. And in it's current form, it's the winner of the ASL Fremste Divisjon against the winner of the Athearan Championship. However, now the FFA have revealed their intention on changing the format for The Republics Cup as well in order to try and include the ASL Første Ligadivisjon and Andre Ligadivisjon. The FFA has shown that it will likely be either a single or double round robin group to decide who winds the trophy or who enters a two way final, or perhaps it may be a semifinal to final showdown. Either way, the FFA has stated that the clear goal is to have the champions of the second and third edition be involved in The Republics Cup as well. It is likely the FFA will be successful in this goal, but let us hope nothing out of the ordinary is proposed.

Should "Club Flags" be Allowed For Use as Corner Flags?
What is a "club flag" you may ask? Well, often than not it is just the club's logo often painted on top of a plain background, which is usually the primary color of the club. The reason this is brought up was because on Matchday 17 between Sisalena United and Real Nova, the home side in Sisalena had replaced the usual corner flags with their club flag. This has sparked an interesting discussion on whether club flags should be allowed to be used as corner flags, as it would slightly emphasize the team's home ground more (It's not that we don't like emphasizing what a team's home ground means to them). There are surprisingly no rules relating to the corner flags and it's details, the rulebook says that the corner flag should be identifiable and should be able to function as a flag. The FFA are in current discussions on the matter, with the hopes that this issue should be resolved in a matter of a few days considering it's effects are not enormous.

THE FINAL FOUR: Who Wins The Championship?
After several grueling matchdays in a group stage format to start the Championship, along with a fantasticly played Round of 14 and Quarterfinal round, four teams have found themselves in the semifinal of the Athearan Championship. Annhover FC and AFC Westwilm will be facing off against eachother, as the other semifinal match will be held between the Astena Rangers and Harindar SC. The Finals and 3PPO is guaranteed to be a Fremste Divisjon vs a lower tier club, as both the Rangers and Harindar SC are a part of the ASL Fremste Divisjon. While the Rangers seem ready to win it all, they could be stopped dead in their tracks. Or maybe one of the two underdogs could top it out in the final. Who will win the Championship? No one can really tell just yet, so stay tuned for the Semifinal Round of the Athearan Championship!

Surprising Team Rebrand Before Seasons End!
Remember when we said that teams can now choose on what name they would like to go by? Well, news have surfaced in that the owners of Trinover City have decided to take the first step in marking a new identity and as per the agreement of the players, team staff, and the fans through a strictly held and secure vote have officially decided to change their name to Trinover Union. This news came to a shock to everyone within the Athearan football community excluding those related to Trinover, even the Football Federation of Atheara. However, they have made a statement that they will allow the rebranding of Trinover City to Trinover Union. They are officially the first team to rebrand/rename themselves and the club has released an issue that has essentially stated their hopes for, "Other teams who desire to change a rather corporate beginning into something that links to their identity and soul more." In fact, after this change was done, the FFA have announced that clubs can choose to change their names starting now instead of next season! Hopefully there is more to come.

Fremste Divisjon Relegation Battle, Who Will Survive?
Five matchdays remain within the entirety of the Athearan Super League and the area where things may be the most intense currently may be the middle to lower table of the Fremste Divisjon. Only a total of 8 points separate 12th from 8th while all of them only have five or four matches left to play in order to try and ensure their survival, or to ensure a spot in the IFCF Challengers Cup. Predictions and speculations have been thrown around on who will be the winners and the losers of this rush to the end of the season chaos, but it's fair to say that everyone will be doing their best in order to try and survive. But who will be relegated and who will have to go to the playoff if you ask me? Well, I think AFC Rekozia has their luck barely running so I'd say they're going to the playoffs. As for who gets relegated, I would say AFC Fallstead. But that may just be me, as long as there's games to play even the slimmest chances are always possible.

Three Champions Are Crowned!
While everyone has realized the end of the title battles by the time Matchday 23 rolled around, it was still a lot to take in. Once again, as the end of the regular season for the Athearan Super League approaches, three champions have been crowned for the three divisions due to the circumstances of the leagues. First, we start at the bottom in the ASL Andre Ligadivisjon. Westeria FC are crowned champions, as Deskala Saints cannot overtake them in terms of standings due to the point gap. Certainly one of the more surprising champions! Next up, we come to the ASL Første Ligadivisjon. As with the Andre Liga Divisjon, Trinover Union cannot overtake Neidegrad City in table standings due to the point gap, which means NCI are crowned champions of the second division and will be promoted to the Fremste Divisjon! Speaking of the ASL Fremste Divisjon, this year's champions are as expected in the Astena Rangers. Neidegrad United, whom have done incredibly well cannot overtake in the table standings with only one game left to play for them. Congratulations to the champions, but the season is not over yet! These three teams could play a role on the final standings of the season, if they end up deciding to.

Championship Finals, Who Will Take It Home?
After another hyped and exciting round in the Athearan Championship, the finals and third place playoffs have been decided. for the 3PPO, it will be Annhover FC vs Harindar SC. Annhover is a surprising team to see in a third placed playoff, in the Athearan Championship no less. Harindar SC are a Fremste Divisjon team, and they will be looking to take full advantage of the circumstances. But remember that it's Athearan football and anything can happen. However, the one match up that everyone has their eyes on is the final of the Championship. The Astena Rangers are the first team in it, currently in great form and they seem to be unstoppable. But the other team in the final is little AFC Westwilm. The team currently 10th in the ASL Andre Ligadivisjon will have to face off against the giants that is the Astena Rangers. While this may seem to be another year of utter Rangers domination, some have hope in Westwilm. And to be frank, I myself do have hope in them as well. AFC Westwilm have yet to ever win a title, and this may be the best chance for them. In this affair, it all comes down to the full 90 minutes on the pitch, or perhaps the 2 hours. Either way, both sides will surely fight at their best.

Athearan Championship to Receive New Logo?
The Athearan Championship for the longest time has always had a similar looking logo (OOC Note: The logos don't exist, ICly it does but I don't have an actual logo for it yet), a trophy along with text saying "Athearan Championship" which was a rather simplistic but perfectly fine looking logo. However, many fanscannot deny but to state their opinion in that the logo looks too traditional, rather too ancient looking. Of course, this logo fitted with the previous logo of the previous edition of Atheara's top flight for football, but with the current logo for the Athearan Super League, it stands out poorly. The FFA are currently doing their best in hopes to either design a new logo for the championship or to have an organization or someone esle design it for them, and this new logo is likely to be used next season. For now, we all wait.
