The 10 field players for the Sarzonian national lacrosse team stood in stunned silence whilst the Milchama Warriors streamed onto the pitch to celebrate their shock 18-14 victory over the Stars.

They'd certainly said all the right things about not taking Milchama for granted. They said it was the knockout rounds. They said the stakes were much higher. They had another match against archrival Banija on tap.

And ... Sarzonia just faded when it mattered most. It was Jordan Helms who needed the 10-minute cooling down period offered to the losing team's manager. It was a bronze medal Sarzonia would have to compete for, not gold, and it was Qasden who were the opponents, not Banija.

"I guess we got an object lesson in walking the talk," Helms said quietly, scarcely audible in the press room which had been murmuring with activity among the various media outlets covering this shock result. "I told the players to take Milchama seriously, that the fact they were here at all in the semifinals was a reason to take the Warriors seriously. And you saw what happened out there. And that's my fault."

Attack Colin Grassley shook his head vigourously when he heard a reporter recount Helms's comment.

"No, that's not on Coach Helms," he said. "That's on us. He pushed us hard in training. [Defensive coordinator] Makeeyah [Brantley] pushed us hard in training. I've never done so many up-downs and hustled back so much during training in my life. The coaches did their parts. We didn't do ours."

Goaltender Matt Henning admitted to being furious with his team during the match, getting into a shoving match with defender Xander Beaucamp as the two teams jogged to their respective dressing rooms at halftime. Henning said it was just "competitiveness" and he had "no beef" with Beaucamp.

"I mean, the effort was there, especially in the second half, but the results weren't," Henning said. "To allow six goals in transition to a team that made its international debut in the sport in the AOlympics is just unacceptable, but I'll take the blame there."

"We should have done better on defence, me especially," Beaucamp said. "If I do a better job on my mark and we play better as a unit, we're having a different conversation right now."

Sarzonia (6-1) certainly consider Qasden a rival, but to a player, the Stars say they wished they'd done the things necessary to get another crack at Banija in the final.

"They beat us at The Franz [Franz Braddock Stadium in Woodstock], and we desperately wanted to beat them here," Grassley said. "Now we won't even get a chance to play them at all. That hurts."

Runner "Outraged" At Decathlon Incident in Off-Day for Team Aboveland
Impi Lehtinen was left "puzzled" after Banijan Uchechy Ugochukwu struck him across the face 80 meters from the finish of the men's decathlon. In the AOMC, transmission gremlins cast a shadow on a near-secured Talvela victory.

ISTRIA - Team Aboveland's team spirit had already been dealt a heavy blow early on in the AOlympics ninth matchday, following Terho Talvela's tragic retirement from a dominant lead in the Pactalian round of the AOMC. The triple WGPC champion had charged to pole position in the last road course qualifying of the AOMC event, pipping former teammate and three-time WGPC runner-up iBen Toralmintii by an extremely slim .023 of a second, but well clear of the rest of the field behind the top three by over four tenths. Between Talvela’s sensational lap and Taavi ‘Kiiri’ Kiirejäävõisteja’s solid fourth place, fans across the region expected Team Aboveland to dominate the field at AutoRingPactalia. Unfortunately, heartbreak would rear its ugly head once again, and Talvela was forced to retire with just six laps remaining, after leading from the very start, due to transmission failure in his Hybrid Dart. Kiiri, left to pick up the pieces, finished a strong seventh, but it was little consolation after having missed out on an assured victory.

As fate would have it, Talvela’s troubles would be the least of the concerns of the day for the Abovian AOlympics Delegation.

The Men’s Decathlon came to a close in Banija, finishing with a sensational victory of eventual gold medallist Busoga Islands over silver-winners Valanora in the men’s 1500m race. After struggling through the ten events, Impi Lehtinen took the start of the 1500m run to bring his AOlympics debut to a lowly end.

The Abovian’s generally poor form, however, improved for the final round of the decathlon, and the central Abovian was contesting the tail-end of the top ten positions with Banija’s Uchechy Ugochukwu. Having saved his breath for one final sprint, Lehtinen pushed hard as he rounded the corner of the track one final time; just eighty meters from the finish, he’d gained ground on the local runner and found himself nearly edging past.

However, things would take a sudden turn, as allegedly Ugochukwu “[freaking] punched the [shoot] out of” Lehtinen in the closing stages of the race. Described by spectators and volunteers as “an unfortunately placed stray hand”, but berated by Lehtinen as “a savage, cowardly attack”, the punch—likened to a slap by Ælunder Nyttispalvelu commentators at the time of the incident—earned Ugochukwu a disqualification for “excessively impeding another runner.”

Lehtinen was livid following the race and initially denied Ælunder Nyttispalvelu’s request for comment, swatting away the field reporters’ recording device, before returning to briefly rant about the incident. His tone swaying from angry to pity-seeking, he blasted Ugochukwu for “being a sore loser” and “hitting [him] while [he was] down—what did [he] have to gain by punching me for tenth place?” He claimed he’d report the case to the Abovian Olympic Committee, who refused to comment until the situation was clarified, and made a point of showing reporters and photographers covering the race the clearly open hand-shaped bruise on his right cheek.

A bewildered, but high-spirited, Ugochukwu declined Ælunder Nyttispalvelu’s request for an interview.

AOlympic Report :: It has thus far been an underwhelming performance for the Tropicorp Team at the re-booted Atlantian Oceania Motorsports Championships as the Tropicorp contingent led by Vilita and Turori Motorsports driver Yraaga Gilli'i currently sit 13th of the 15 nations competing. It was perhaps expected that Gilli'i would put in a strong performance at the Kardashia Auto Ring during the second event of the AOMC schedule putting the Orange and Blue Tropicorp machine into 5th place and earning 8 points for the effort. What was perhaps unexpected was that it would be Tropcorps only Top 5 finish to date. After a 10th place run earning a single point during the Tandem Draft Challenge at the Zama Superspeedway and then an 8th place finish in the Reverse Grid Challenge at the Fjellutfordring in Aboveland, Tropicorp have failed to earn a single point since. Perhaps the most surprising was Anavella Ariiki's result on the Vale Course at the Drummond Vale Circuit in the Commonwealth of Baker Park. Ariiki, who has been performing well in the AOCAR circuit with a pair of pole positions, struggled in Qualifying at Drummond Vale and then failed to finish the race earning zero points for Tropicorp as rivals for the 7th and final position in the Stadium Knockout Rounds including the Sultanate of Oontaz and Geisenfried earned points on the day. Ariiki struggled in qualifying again one round later at the AutoRingPacitalia posting just the 26th fastest time and failing to advance to the feature as teammate Euroli Islander earned the fast qualifying time for the trio in 19th. Islander could not convert that into any points in the main event, however, finishing the race in a tight battle for 10th place but losing out to Geisenfried's alternate driver Daniel Pohl who took the final points paying position in the race.

Now it is likely that Tropicorp's last hope of advancing to the knockout rounds will rely on the performance of Yraaga Gilli'i. While Tropicorp have struggled thus far, the final two events on the schedule should play positively into their strengths. Gilli'i will be among the favorites for the Saturday Night Feature Challenge at the Lonngeylin Ring, a short track which Gilli'i has two career NSSCRA victories at. Assuming a points finish under the lights Gilli'i will then represent Tropicorp in the final event at the Tropicorp Beach Course in Tropicoast where a win would almost certainly be enough to leapfrog the competition into the knockout rounds.

Thus far Tropicorp have been unable to secure any medals at the AOlympic Games and Gilli'i may be the entities final hope to turn any 0's to 1's on the medal tables for the Techies. The Tropicorp Sporting Group will not give up, however, and recently sent out an internal memo requesting any competent swimmers who would like an all expenses-paid vacation to Mlima Kijani to nominate themselves for consideration as part of Tropicorp's Team to compete in the SwimAO competition - the newest addition to the AOlympic Games. As a condition of selection to the Tropicorp Swim Team however, any applicants were required to also submit research proposals for how participation in the event could be used to improve the science or products developed in Tropicoast - either directly in the water or elsewhere within Mlima Kijani during the Athlete/Scientists' stay in the country.

AOHC: Vilita & Turori's Last Medal Hope

Track and Field :: The Track and Field competition in Banija has thus far been dominated by a handful of nations whose athletes are likely to have trained in similar environmental conditions to those they have experienced in Istria. Luckily for the Federation of Athletics in the Vilitan Union (FAVU), their athletes were among those who adapted well to the environment in Banija and whom have shared in the spoils of the Medal Haul in the Track and Field Events.

While it all started promising with a Gold Medal in the Shot Put on the opening day of competition, athletes from Vilita & Turori have not been so lucky since then earning only silver and bronze medals. One particularly close call was in the Team Archery event where the Vilita and Turori team were defeated in the Semi-Finals by Squornshelous who would go on to win the Gold. Vilita and Turori would recover to easily take the bronze medal by defeating the Archers from Delaclava in their final matchup.

With the near miss in Archery, many looked at the short distance running events as another opportunity for Vilita and Turori to excel and pick up their second Gold Medal of the games. Once again, however, it would be full of near misses and close calls for the athletes from Vilita & Turori. In the Women's 200m Final, Kalarii Tivaydi
represented Vilita and Turori and would place in the Silver Medal position with the Eel-Cat Runners once again losing out to Squornshelous. In the Men's 400m Hurdle competition many expected that Kameli Agazella would represent Vilita and Turori and be favored to take the Gold medal as one of the top hurdlers in the multiverse. However, Agazella pulled out of the event in preparation for the 15th Summer Olympiad in Electrum and was replaced by Momira Mnimon. Mnimon was able to post a strong time but was no match for the athletes from Busoga Islands or Baker Park crossing the line in third place to take the Bronze medal.

Elsewhere in the Track and Field, many smaller delegations have come together in a petition to ensure the seemingly lopsided medal table is quickly lost to history as they proposed a re-branding of the event for future iterations. While their motivations may be to avoid embarrassing reminders of their lacklustre performances in Banija, they have developed a more clear cut argument for the name change as the AOT&F Moniker has been suggested by some to be too easily confused with the Atlantian Oceania Tobacco & Firearms (AOTF) sub-component of the Atlantian Oceania Alliance of Nations. While the off-podium nations have not as of yet put forth an official suggestion for the new name of the competition, one rumored proposal under consideration was the Atlantian Oceania Championship of Athletics (AOCA) or the Athletics League of Atlantian Oceania (ALAO).

Ice Hockey / Team Sports :: The Vilita & Turori Ice-Cat Things are looking to make a splash on Ice having made clear that the Ice Hockey tournament was the focus of the federation from the start. After a 5-3 final matchday victory over Merulantis, Vilita and Turori would secure the top spot in Group D with a perfect 4-0 record to advance to the knockout rounds along with the Euran Oceania Territories who completed an exciting final matchday victory over Milchama to take over the groups second advancing spot. While Vilita and Turori's Defense was a little shaky in the Group stage it was more than made up for by their Offense that was able to score an average of five goals per match for a total of 20 goals in the group stage, more than any other team in the competition.

Vilita and Turori would advance to face Equestria in the Quarter Finals at the MVG Arena in Marzig and would keep up their torrid goalscoring pace in that match putting four goals past their colorful rivals in a 4-1 victory that would set up an elite Semi-Final matchup against Valanora. Like Vilita and Turori, the Vanorians were looking strong and putting a lot of resources behind their performance in the AOHC. However, the biggest difference between the two heading into the match was the focus. For the Vanorian Olympic Delegation, the AOHC Semi-Final would be one of numerous potential medal earning matchups they would face over the coming week as they prepared for numerous gold medal finals and Semi-Final matchups across the spectrum of Team events on the cards for the AOlympics. Of course, none would be more prevalant than their appearance in the AOCAF 64 Final against Banija - a matchup they earned after defeating Vilita & Turori in the Semi-Finals by a 4-1 scoreline with the Eel-Cat Things only goal coming off a corner kick that was headed in by Cuoabaza Orani'aoa in the 34th minute.

Vilita & Turori [1] - [4] Valanora

GOALS: Vilita & Turori :: 34' Cuoabaza Orani’aoa
Lineup: [GK] Derizi Amatopa, [D.] Inteali Koranjo, [D.] Lohani Riiyaaw, [D.] Karek Edgeli, [ML] Naraiza Ruaplal, [MC] Cuoabaza Orani’aoa, [MC] Khrusan Mlianko, [MR] Trezisi Rokopolis, [FC] Tyoasi Klipark, [FC] Clarana Refiami, [FC] Kala'a Yuliizala
Bench: [FC] Lutara Makakio, [FC] Turakia Diijelhma, [M] Tulaki Rauogba, [M] Lentali Purama, [U ] Lati'ala Giaoka, [D] Narri Sebapilo, [GK] Striitca Virahat

While it was one of the worst outings in a big match in the short career of Turorian goalkeeper Derizi Amatopa, the focus on the match was less on the individual result and more on the big picture for Vilita and Turori. It marked the second time in as many days that Valanora had eliminated one of their sides from Gold Medal contention as it was Valanora who ended Turori's reign as AO Bowl Champion with a 27-10 result in the Quarter Final matchup at the Sun Valley Stadium in Busukuma. It followed defeats in the AOLax Quarter Finals to Sarzonia, and similar knockout round defeats in the AO Curling Championships and AO Baseball Series which effectively eliminated Vilita and Turori from all team sport competitions outside of Ice Hockey which will be the last chance for Gold in what will almost certainly go down as an under-perfoming campaign for Vilita and Turori teams across the board. The massive Semi-Final fixture will take place at the Olimpski-Ledarena in Borograd, Siovanija and rumor is that the Vilitan Union Olympic Committee will plan to fly in athletes and fans from other host cities where the Vilita & Turori sides have been unexpectedly eliminated in order to support their nation in their final quest for a Team Gold at these games.

Image

Swimming :: While Vilita and Turori may be short on Gold Medals across the board they will get another chance to collect minor medals in the recently announced SwimAO competition to be held in Mlima Kijani. While the Swimming Association of Vilita & Turori (SAVT) was unable to confirm which of the twelve events that they would be participating in, they did announce the return of a fan favorite swimmer to the pool. The seemingly ageless Actalia Mermaioda - Vilita and Turori's former Olympic Gold Medalist and World Record holder who had previously retired from competitive swimming will be returning to the pool for the first time since the 14th Summer Olympiad to represent Vilita & Turori in the Men's events. Mermaioda set their Olympic Record time in the 200m Backstroke but has also earned Olympic Gold and Bronze Medals in the 200m Individual Medley an event that they have confirmed participation in on the opening day of SwimAO competition. Current Vilitan Union Olympian Molzo Miimyali is expected to represent Vilita & Turori on the Women's side of the Individual Medley events at SwimAO as well as participating in a selection of individual disciplines as a warm up for her attempt to become the Vilitan Unions first Female Individual Gold Medalist. While the Vilitan Union has always brought a strong and deep swimming squad to the Olympic Games, having won the 4x100 Medley relay on multiple occasions, they have never done better than Silver in an Individual Womans event.

AOTF Day 7: Nieves caps off dream meet with relay gold

Men's sprints: Nieves takes bronze alone, then anchors team to gold

Roussel Nieves was already riding high off his thrilling long jump gold, and on those same days, he also managed to advance through the heats of the 100 meters and the 4x100 relay. Now, with a few days rest, he had the best opportunity to showcase what he had left for the field, and did he deliver.

It was a highly competitive 100 meter race, with Mordecai Odoyo getting the best start and leading through 50 meters, but as he began to strain, the rest of the field was coming back. Not just Nieves or a few, but everybody. In fact, when it was all said and done, seven of eight runners had broken 10 seconds, with the eighth just barely missing in 10.03. But to the naked eye, it at least appeared that Okoyo had barely held on, with Nieves, Vilita's runner, Valanora's Wolfgang Eberhardt, and Squornshelous' Jokum Yakovlev getting the next four spots in some order. Nieves roared in delight when the photo finish revealed he had just taken bronze, behind Eberhardt and ahead of Vilita, all with the same finishing time of 9.92. Four-hundredths of a second separated second from seventh, and Nieves had the capacity to dip at just the right time and land himself on that podium. Oh, and did we mention Nieves had never broken 10 before this race? Incredible.

But his day wasn't done yet, as the 4x100 team came calling for him. Marlon Santiago and Danil Bentley, neither of whom have broken 10 seconds in the 100 either, put on a great first half of the race with a clean handoff, appearing to be middle of the pack as Bentley handed off to the 200 meter specialist, Alex Greeley. Busoga Islands led slightly in handing off to Torun Bagci, who ate up the turn and went away from the field. That would have been the end of the race, if Greeley had not managed to barely hang on to him, almost closing the stagger as Bagci passed to Ali Bullo and Greeley to Nieves. Greeley hadn't even made the 200-meter final with a bad prelim, but he wasn't about to be denied a medal again, and Nieves refused to settle for silver. Nieves opened a gap on Bullo within 20 meters and never looked back, crossing the line with arms outstretched, screaming and pointing at the clock that showed a national record of 37.60. Not bad for a race in which the Delaclavs had no sub-10 runners before today - and a race in which they had no competition. Only four teams got the baton all the way around the track, only three in a time even resembling elite.

It was a career-changing day not just for Nieves, but for sprinters as a whole. Track meets around Delaclava are more interested in showcasing the distance runners, leaving sprinters on the undercard. But no doubt Nieves will be attracting big appearance fees over the coming months, even years, and he'll need opponents to run against. That means bigger purses for all the sprinters, and perhaps more incentive for talents to pursue professional careers.

And for Nieves himself, it puts him in the pantheon of Delaclav athletics greats - he doesn't have the Olympic medals of Dominic Vargas or Matthew Daniltsin, but to show up on the regional stage and shock the world in three of three events? It's a performance we'll be talking about for a long time.

Women's sprints: Musedi takes silver, but baton can't complete lap

Maria Musedi also found herself in a tight race for 100-meter glory, where a well-timed lean gave her a significant advantage for the podium. Sprinters everywhere, Delaclav and elsewhere, take note, because Nieves and Musedi both ran their races like seasoned pros despite having never run internationally. While Valanora's Lina Fossum pulled away late to win in a time of 10.91, Musedi finished with Busoga Islands' Adalet Baykal in an identical time of 10.99 before the photo broke the tie.

It made up for a disastrous relay in which Musedi didn't even get her hands on the baton. The Flames botched the very first handoff from Nefi Pardo to Tara Samman, where they missed the connection multiple times until they stood helplessly outside the exchange zone with Pardo still holding the baton. Given that Banija won in a middling time of 42.44, it was a disappointment to not see Delaclava in contention, but Musedi and Samman can hold their head high from individual performances, while Deena Marshall, slated to run third, has one event to go, the mixed 4x400 relay.

Women's distance: Case makes respectable marathon debut after big 10k

After Sarah Case won the silver medal in the 10,000 meters in 30:28.11, blowing away her PR by more than a minute and outkicking a chase pack of four at the end, you could have understood if she had mailed in her marathon debut, if not skipped it entirely.

She was making a fast switch from the track to the road. The small field meant she wouldn't have a lot of pacing help, and if she got dropped early, it'd be a long day for her out in the heat. And not to sound like a broken record - she had 24 hours to recover.

Instead, she ran a 2:35:03, respectable under any conditions, and truly remarkable considering her circumstances, and that was good for ninth in the field out of 19 finishers, with five succumbing to the weather. Case ran conservatively early, splitting the first half in 1:18:44 before moving up the field. She also got some pacing help from her Pacitalian rival, and the pair worked together for the last five miles to finish strong. Case was eventually outkicked, but the two runners embraced after crossing the line only 6:57 behind Milchama's Millie Millitini.

For perspective, Case's performance was equivalent to a 15:41 5k or a 33:03 10k. And while that wouldn't represent Case's best effort, those are times plenty of elite and sub-elite runners would be thrilled to run on their best day. And Case did that, having never run a marathon before, and one day after setting the national record in the women's 10,000 meters, all under extreme heat duress and competitive pressure. We knew she was good - but this may have been one of the most awe-inspiring performances by a Delaclav athlete ever.

THE WEDGE AND WHEEL
Gyatso-kai at the AOlympics

Written by KOSAI Torsonn

This edition of The Wedge and Wheel is being brought as a SPECIAL BREAKING EDITION as the AOWL Tournament for Quidditch had yet to finish at the time of the last print.

:: AOWL :: Quidditch

In a turn of events for the young Avatarian Team, a resounding victory over formerly-first place Vilita & Turori sees the Flying Bisons make it into the Semifinals for the AOWL tournament being hosted in Turori.

The young team managed to catch the snitch, with Iviin Ram'ser managing a spectacular play which saw her leap from her trademark Ravenstrill to nab the golden egg from the sky before falling back to saddle. The play, which was completed after just two hours of game time, saw the Flying Bisons win the match 200s-40, stamping their passport for the next round, where the team looks to face the Winner of Group A, Verceola at Field #1 of the Eagle's Club in scenic Eelandii, Turori.

For a team with an abysmal record to date, with two disappointing World Cup competitions in their rear view mirror, to come back and place second in the group and advance is no small feat. Which, given the magnitude of making it out of the Group Stage in just your third tournament, is certain to boost the hopes of creating a professional league for these magical players from such a esteemed university.

AOlympics bring surprise results for BP
by Rory Gerlinger
The Guardian

There's been a great deal of action for BP athletes participating in the AOlympic events across the region, let's take a look at how things have played out to this point:

AO Lacrosse Championships
Baker Park made it through the group stage to the quarterfinal, where they came up against Qasden, dropping a tough 10-9 decision to the Vans.

AO Basketball Championship
A victory over Vilita & Turori was the highlight of the competition, as BP showed much improvement from the IBC, their four losses all by 9 points or fewer.

AO Hockey Championship
Team BP split their 4 group matches, scoring and conceding the same amount of goals.

AO Rugby Championship
The Commonwealth are in the semi-final where they face Siovanija & Teusland for the right to play for the Gold Medal; a triumph would mark a fantastic turnaround for 7's Hoops, after beginning their international participation in the abbreviated code with just a single win in their first 10 matches, they currently sit with a record across all events they've appeared in of 11 wins, 13 losses and 3 draws.

AO Curling Championship
Across the entire program of events taking place, it would be hard to match the improbable story of the journey that Stephanie & Mike Douglas and Beth & Peter Holloran have taken to earn a spot in the semi-finals in Vilita. They arrived in Yeaddin 36 hours before the start of play but dropped only a 7-5 decision to the Squornshelan team in the group round and the two teams will meet once more for a chance to make the Gold Medal match.

AO Track & Field
It's been a fruitful meet for the Commonwealth at the Istria Olympic Stadium, with a few competitors just missing out on the medal stand but for the most part a decent medal haul ahead of the final day.
Leon Hall set a regional record in the qualifying for the men's Long Jump at 8.20m, but couldn't regain that form in the final, dropping to 6th. Kyle McCleod was in line to take the Bronze in the shot put until Lev Koppel of Squornshelous came up with the winning throw on his final attempt, bumping the BP man back to fourth, which is also where Harrison Olunawalu in the men's 10,000 meters and Sandy Tenpenny in the women's marathon placed.
Geoff Higgins sat just 3 points off the lead after the first day of the Decathlon, but fell back and hung on to take Bronze, while the women's 4x100 meter relay also came home third, as Monique Prince, Ashley Simpson, Maggie Yates and Amanda McBride made up for their mistake on the same track in the Olympics.

Gregory Stephens took Silver in the men's 400m hurdles while Emma Coyle was one of three women to run 12.68 in the heats of the women's 100m hurdles, but the only one to better it, taking the Gold in 12.42.

In Archery, the BP men and women both took the silver medal, with Patrice Schuman, Linda Franklin and Bobbie Gordon setting the best score in qualifying with 1967, then falling to Banija by a single point in the Gold medal match; the men's trio of Byron Garfield, Tom Shoemaker and Rich Arnold finished second in the qualifiers, then outlasted Delaclava in a tiebreaker in the semis to face Squornshelous, only to fall by 10 points.

Position: AORDO Special Forces)
Nominee: Major General David G McKinney
Nationality: CBP

Qualifications: Commander of the National Guard of the Commonwealth, 9 years Served 12 years in the Commonwealth National Army before making the move to the NG where he commanded units in peacekeeping forces in 5 different nations.

Elevator Pitch:
The National Guard operates independently from the rest of the military in Baker Park; it falls under the civilian control of the Ministry of State for Internal Affairs--with the Minister holding the title 'Chief of Security'--rather the Ministry of Defense. Despite it's ominous sounding name, MSIA is actually very strictly separated between the military element and it's civilian functions. There are around 9,000 active NG troops, divided into two areas; the Ready Force serves as an amphibious assault component for the military, while the Special Operations Force carries out traditional special forces assignments. The NG also includes the Commonwealth Intelligence Service (CIS) and the central Military Intelligence Command.

Gen McKinney has worked closely with Admiral Bill Sanderson to develop an advanced amphibious capable Navy to support the mission of both services. Joint service planning and coordination have been important to the military here for nearly a century.
The General would look to developing a rapid response force among the AORDC for the purpose of intervention in regional nations (and neighbors) where democracy is threatened, where the domestic military requires assistance, and as a deterrent against outside threats to the nations of AO.

After a short group stage, which saw them defeat two of three opponents, the Kanyean national quidditch team will be heading to the AOWL quarterfinals.

The first game for the striker unit-wearing squad was a 180-20 victory over Tropicorp in a game that lasted almost an entire week. The second was a higher-scoring and thankfully shorter (but still quite long) battle, with the Yeezies taking down Pacitalia 390-230. It was a back and forth affair, neither team going up by more than thirty at any point. At the 2:48 mark (that's hours and minutes, by the way), St. Kanye broke a 230-all deadlock with an incredible score from chaser Heather Houser, in which she narrowly dodged both bludgers and then flew under the opposing keeper before putting the quaffle in the hole. And then just nine minutes later, both seekers had the snitch in sight, and started racing toward it from opposite directions. Jen Holland grabbed the tiny winged ball from right in front of her Pacitalian counterpart's face to give St. Kanye an extra hundred and fifty points and the dub."Thankfully my striker unit proved to be faster than the other seeker's broom and I was able to grab it before they can," she said after the game.

Up next was Sarzonia, one of the sport's powerhouses, winners of two Quidditch World Cups including the most recent edition. St. Kanye scored the first twenty points, ten each from Houser and Juliana Medina, but then their opponents went on a 50-10 run in the next hour. Once again it fell to Holland's hands to try and win the game for the players in lime (purple was considered too close to Sarzonia's dark blue), but she was having trouble finding the snitch this time. It was Sarzonian seeker Tommy Entwistle who would do so at the 1:37 mark (once again, hours and minutes), ending the game 200-30 in favor of his squad. Both St. Kanye and Sarzonia were thus tied at 2-1, but with the latter prevailing, they would be the Group C winners.

St. Kanye will face Milchama, who swept fellow Group B members Equestria, Delaclava and Behetij, in the quarters. The Yeezies have scored more points (600 to 500, or 300 to 50 when only counting chaser production), but their opponents have conceded so much fewer (450 to 70). "We have the edge on speed, and likewise so in offense. But our defense can't get left behind. We haven't been sending many bludgers our opponents' ways, so we gotta work on that," said beater and team captain Dwight Edwards. The other matchups are: Verceola playing Gyatso-kai, Sarzonia against Equestria and the Independent Athletes of Squornshelous versus Valanora.

Medals and Heartbreak at the Track, Mixed Results again in Team Sports

Starting at the track, Squornshelan have added four more medals to their collective count these past days, and very narrowly missed out on several others. Four Squorshelans made finals in short-distance events. Starting with hurdling races, the results were about what was expected based on qualifying standings. Tiril Ek placed sixth in the women's 100m hurdles, improving on her eighth-place qualification. Gustav Norling, however, was only able to improve his qualifying time by about half a second in the men's 400m, falling well short of medal position in seventh. Results from the 200m were quite a lot better. Harald Filippov and Karina Bogomolov both apparently kept a lot in reserve during qualifying, placing 8th and 5th respectively. Filippov, running on the far outside, held on as the favorites closed in around the curve and took home bronze. Ek, on the other hand, ran a blistering 21.88 to claim gold. Jokem Yakovlev, in lane 4 for the 100m final after qualifying with the fastest time, was a favorite to add another medal to the count for the IAS, but didn't get off to a very good start, and was just unable to close the distance at the finish line, settling for fifth in an absurdly close final. The margin between Gold and seventh place was just seven hundredths of a second, and the decision for silver and bronze went to a photo finish, with only thousandths separating Wolfgang Eberhardt of Valanora, Roussel Nieves of Delaclava and a Vilitan runner whose name was not available at press time. The women's race also required a photo finish to award silver, though Squornshelan Juni Eld was not among the athletes involved. She finished in a photo finish of her own though, just beating out Monique Prince of Baker Park for fourth place. Distance running also saw Squornshelans perform well, with Volodymir Mardh taking Bronze in the men's 10000m final, and Aglaya Voronin just missing out on duplicating that feat, finishing three seconds and change behind third place. In the marathon, Ljuba Stasiuk finished fifth.

We turn now to athletics. In the archery events, the Squornshlan men's team took home gold, taking close, two-point victories over Valanora in the quarterfinals, and Vilita & Turori in the semis, before defeating Baker Park in the final 225-215. The team's lowest medal round score was a 223, better than most team's best efforts. In the women's event, our team was knocked out by an absolutely dominant Banijan team, who ended up taking home gold. The Squornshelans, perhaps a bit disheartened, did not have their best showing in the bronze medal match, falling to Valanora 220-218. Squornshelan Ruslan Lind also looked to have all but secured a medal in the Decathlon, but fell short in an agonizing turn of events. Sitting near the middle of the standing after the first five events, he surged up the rankings with some excellent athletics performances After doing fairly well in discus, Lind finished first in both pole vault and javelin. His performance in the latter event was particularly dominant, as he beat the next best throw by over 4.5m. He lead Zeki Engin of the Busoga Islands and Uchechy Ugochukwu of Banija by a slim margin heading into the final event, the 1500m run. In an incredible turn of events, both Lind and Ugochukwu were disqualified, sending two all but certain medalists tumbling down the table, clearing the was for Engin to take gold. An appeal was denied, and Lind finished in seventh overall, having needed only a paltry 550 points from the last event to secure a medal.

Expectation in Squornshelous for another track and field medal remains high though, with Alyona Hjort currently sitting third in the Heptathlon with three events to go. Bernt Engberg, running the men's marathon, the final signature event of the track and field schedule, also hopes to challenge for a place on the podium.

In team sports, the Squornshelan hockey and rugby teams finished their time at the games on good notes, with hockey defeating Pacitalia in a meaningless final game of the group stage, and rugby winning their consolation match with Equestria in dominant fashion, 43-7. They hockey team's performance, despite this win, was particularly awful, as they allowed more goals than any other team in the tournament. Fortunes have been much better elsewhere. The Squornshelan curlers remain undefeated, having seen off Baker Park to wrap up a perfect 4-0 preliminary round, and then topped Vilita and Turori in the quarterfinals to set up a rematch with the Commonwealth. Troublesome ice conditions have posed problems for all the teams, but Segey Laxdal's group seem to have a knack for winning ugly that is unmatched. None of their five victories has been by a margin greater than two, and at times their tactics have more closely resembled billiards or shuffleboard with the number of collisions involved.

The surprise of the games though, both in terms of learning a sport existed, and having an unheralded team become unexpectedly good, is definitely the Quidditch tournament. Yes, that's spelled right. Quidditch, as a few Squornshelans may be aware by this point, is a sport invented and played by wizards and witches. Yes, dear readers, actual magic. Believe it or not (likely the latter for a lot of people) a tournament mostly consisting of magical people riding brooms around has been held in parallel with the AOlympics. To answer the obvious question, no, as far as we know there is not any magical community in Squornshelous. Whether that's the product of our lengthy stay in a pocket dimension or some sort of historical persecution by the old Imperial government we may never know.

In any case, quite on their own initiative, a ragtag team from Santraginus has developed some aircraft bearing a suspicious resemblance to military drones and joined the tournament. Most unbelievably of all, they're actually doing very well. Led by their seeker, team captain, chief mechanic, and inventor of the vehicles they're flying, Berta Koller, they got off to a hot start, beating Gyatso-kai 310s-90 and Vilita and Turori 200s-40. Don't ask me what the "s" means, this sport's scoring system is even worse than cricket's, if you can imagine. They lost their final match of the group stage, but had already clinched advancement. "Beater" Zhanna Beck, who by day, it's rumored, works with the Santraginean Mafia, suffered a mechanical failure with her cycle, and swapped with Koller, who attempted to repair the damaged vehicle. Unfortunately, the absence of Koller from play allowed the Qasden seeker to "catch the snitch." Catch the snitch? Maybe we're not the only team employing mobsters.

AOMC Round 8 Preview :: Lonngeylin Ring - Regional Flavors

AOMC Round 8 Preview: Saturday Night Feature

Lonngeylin Ring, Lonngeylin, Vilita

About the Track:
Track Location: Lonngeylin, Vilita, Atlantian Oceania
Lap Record: 14.995 (Yraaga Gilli'i - NSSCRA Season 9)
Track Lap Length: 1/3rd Mile

The Lonngeylin Ring is a one-third mile Short Track the offers the possibility of a high speed racing line utilizing the greatest elevation change per distance traveled on the circuit. The 'Ring' features elevation changes similar to those on a multi-mile Road Course packed into a traditional short track experience with two different bankings on opposite ends of the race track and relatively flat straightaways offering a unique experience and challenging course to perfect for the Crew Chiefs.

ImageImage

Crossing the Start Finish line drivers will enter Turns 1 and 2. The fastest line will be around the bottom of the track where drivers will have to dive down as the 20 degrees of banking begin at the top of the track where the outside wall is level in altitude to the flat front straightaway. The inside of the turn however drops down and drivers will gain speed as their momentum pulls them along toward the gravitational center.
ImageImage

Exiting turn 2 the drivers will climb back up the track returning to station zero down the back straight away where they will have the option to stay at the same elevation on the low side of the track or climb to the high side and build up potential energy as they climb to the tracks highest point.

ImageImage

Both the high and low line in Turns 3 and 4 and provide their advantages as the high line towers above the rest of the track in the 33 degree banked Turn. The exit of Turn 4 is the most dangerous part of the track as cars from the high line come roaring back down the track at high speed intersecting with cars who have taken the shorter route around the track but are pushing towards the outside wall having been unable to use the high banking to help them through the turn.

Format:Heats will be run in typical Saturday Night Short Track style with the starting lineup determined by the inverse of points gained in recent events. In this case, the starting lineup for each heat will be the inverse of the current AOMC Point Standings. The first two heats will be 40 laps around the 1/3rd Mile Short Track with drivers separated into Driver #1 / Driver #2 designations. The Top 8 drivers in each of the first two heats will advance to the feature. Finally, the Alt Drivers will contest a 30 lap heat where only the Top 4 finishers will advance to the feature.

The starting lineup for the feature will be determined by finishing position in the heats. The Top 8 from the Driver #1 Heat will start on the Inside Lane while the Top 8 from the Driver #2 heat will start on the outside lane. The 4 Alt Drivers who advanced to the feature will start at the back of the grid.

Fan Access:

Fans will watch the race from the large Main Grandstand on the Front Stretch. There is no public seating in Turns 1 & 2 as this is where the teams will be based for the weekend outside the track. The Grandstand in Turns 1 & 2 is reserved for teams, crew members, spotters and sponsor representatives. There will be a fanzone outside Turn 3 & 4 where fans may find Activities, Souvenirs and Sponsor Tents. General Admission fans will also be able to watch the race from the hill in Turns 3 & 4. The campgrounds are located on the backstretch side of the track. There is a large jumbotron in the fanzone that allows for fans in standing room only general admission to ensure they have a view of all the action. The track typically sells more tickets than there are seats with standing room access available to fans whose primary interests may be the off track activities or may not want to sit for the entire event.

Where to Eat:

Vilitan Motorsport fan-favorite vendor "We'll Fry It" will be present at the Lonngeylin Ring. The business model is such that We'll Fry It doesn't actually supply any of the food with the price of the meal. "We'll Fry It"s profitable business model allows the customer to bring whatever they want... and "We'll Fry It" fries it for them for a nominal fee. However, as most fans don't carry around uncooked edibles with them, We'll fry it also has a selection of things that fly, things that moo, things that swim and even candies that can be purchased and fried on site for an additional fee. "We'll Fry It" will fry anything under 2 square feet in size for just 7 tures or three separate items for 15 tures. Each item includes a full selection of condiments at no additional cost.

In addition to "We'll Fry It" there will be a standard selection of foods at the regional eatery highlighting the unique tastes from throughout Atlantian Oceania with all the local cuisine from throughout Atlantian Oceania and even abroad. There will be a Cocoa-bo tent in the fanzone outside turn 4 with a full selection of the most popular Cocoa-bo delectables and there will also be a pop-up 'CoCo-Mart' location with a selection of food and essentials in the campground area of the backstretch.

    Regional Flavors Zone

  • [VIL] We'll Fry It :: Bring anything you can imagine and as the name implies, WFI will Fry It! Don't have something to fry? WFI also has foodstuffs you can buy.
  • [PAC] Caffexpress :: Coffee, sandwiches, salads and pastries with a uniquely Pacitalian flair
  • [CBP] BCEL Beverage Center :: Fresh from the Commonwealth of Baker Park a selection of Beverages that may not all be great for your health but sure taste good!
  • [TUR] Cocoa-bo :: Tasty Delectables including the multiverse's most famous potentially performance enhancing liquid delectable, the classic Cocoa-bo Cup!
  • More Vendors to be added! (Feel free to submit their info)

FanZone Information

Many local corporations will be sponsoring booths and activities throughout the fanzone. The Vilisorma Beverage Company always brings a spirited display and the Vilaye Booth in turn 4 will be handing out samples. Fans will not be able to bring cans of Vilaye into the grandstand with them and will have to request the special edition paper based containers if purchasing to bring into the Grandstand.
Image

Tiones Lumber will be set up outside Turn 3 with their mini-lumberjack competition fan zone. Fans can line up to compete in many famed wood-based competitions such as the 40-foot speed climb, Long rolling, the Standing Block Chop and there will even be a team relay. The best times each day win prizes from Tiones Lumber. First prize winners will be excluded from winning on subsequent days but alternate prize winners can compete for the big prize the following day. Fans who beat the all time-records could find themselves winning free Paddock Passes or other great prizes from Tiones Lumber.

The Tiones Lumber corporation has a long history of aligning itself with sporting events in Vilita & Turori, from being the long time shirt sponsors of the Vilitan Stellar Division's Yeaddin Owls AFC, to their sponsorships in motorsports, the name "Tiones" is always on the forefront. Competitors and fans alike reap the benefits of Tiones Lumber involvement in sporting events with their finances sometimes allowing a team to compete or an event to proceed and their famous Lumberjack Competition displays always a hit with the fans. There are four 'competitive' zones where participants are timed and scored for their execution - whether they are truly competitive or not - with each days top times earning a prize and the best scores of the race weekend crowned champions. The fifth zone is a 'family zone' with events and challenges more suited for children to participate in.

Tiones Lumber always reserves a block of time for Drivers and Crew members of whatever racing series they are supporting to have their own mini competition to compare scores with their fellow competitors and set 'target times' for fan participants across Three of the Five Zones: Chopping & Cutting, Climbing and Log Rolling. The Lumberjack Challenge produced one of the most viral moments of the World Grand Prix Championships 16th Season when WGPC drivers championship leader and eventual champion Jessica Franssen lost her balance in the Log Rolling zone and splashed down into the waters below. Cameras were rolling from the many fans in attendance to watch the special drivers-only challenge after the Friday Practice session and mini clips circulated quickly on twii.tur of the Plaidly-attired Vannish Motors Racing driving going for an unplanned swim.

The Lumberjack challenge will follow the AOMC Circuit from Round 8 at the Lonngeylin Ring to Round 9 in Tropicorp where the AOMC will run as part of a triple-race weekend along with the AOCAF circuit and the stars of the NSSCRA Multiversal Series contesting the Tropicorp 500.

COMPETITIVE ZONES ::
Note, All competitive events will explicitly require a waiver and release of all liability against Tiones Lumber signed by the participant

Zone 1: Chopping & Cutting

3 distinct events are available in Zone 1, the Standing Chop, the Firewood Split and the Saw-Through Cut.

Standing Chop: Tool: Standard Axe :: In the Standing Chop Challenge, competitors can be scored in two different categories: Time and Number of Chops. A single 12 inch diameter log will be stood vertically and the competitor will be tasked with chopping through until the log is severed. Competitive times are expected to be under 20 seconds. All contestants are required to wear chain mail protection from the waste down to protect against injury from errant chops.

Firewood Split: Tool: Standard Axe :: Like the Standing Chop, there are two separate criteria used to grade the Firewood Split. Contestants will have 45 seconds to split. as many firewood segments as they can. The first 10 segments will be pre-staged and the contestant will be timed in completion of the first 10 successful splits. Should they have time remaining on the clock after the 10th split they will be tasked with resetting and further chopping segments until time runs out. Winners will be declared both on speed and number of splits made. All contestants are required to wear chain mail protection from the waste down to protect against injury from errant chops.

Saw-Through Cut: Tool: One-man Bucking Saw :: Contestants will saw through an elevated, horizontal log with a 20 inch diameter using a one-man bucking saw. Competitive times are expected to be below 15 seconds.

Zone 2: Climbing

The Climbing zone includes three identical Climbing Challenge stations to allow multiple contestants to attempt the event at the same time.

The event consists of a 20 meter tall vertical log which the contestant must after starting from a position with both feet on the ground, climb and bypass the 18 meter mark. Contestants will have spurred climbers on their feet and steel-cored climbing ropes. Several safety precautions are taken in the event. A support pole next to the designated climbing log will support a belay rope system managed by event staff. Time will stop once the contestant reaches the 18 meter mark on the vertical log and the contestant will not be timed on the way back from the top of the climbing log to return to the ground. Competitive times are expected to be below 13 seconds.

Zone 3: Log Rolling

The Log Rolling competition takes place in wate where multiple floating logs will stretch from one end of the log pool to the other with a dry dock on either side. Contestants will be timed on crossing the pool twice - or from the starting dock to the opposite dock, then back to the starting dock. If the competitor falls into the water they are permitted one attempt to re-mount the log and continue their run. If the contestant should fall a second time their run will be ended and they will be given credit for the number of total logs they have traversed.

Zone 4: Team Events

Team Saw-Through Cut: Tool: Two-man Bucking Saw :: Contestants will saw through an elevated, horizontal log with a 20 inch diameter using a two-man bucking saw. Competitive times are expected to be below 7 seconds.

Team Log Rolling: Multiple floating logs will stretch from one end of the log pool to the other with a dry dock on either side. Contestants will be timed on crossing the pool twice. Two team members will start on opposite sides of the pool and will have to traverse from their starting dock to the opposite dock and back resulting in two 'passes' where teammates will have to bypass each other on the same log. Contestants must bypass each other on the logs and can not use the docks or the water to complete a bypass. If the competitor falls into the water they are permitted one attempt to re-mount the log and continue their run. If a team suffers a total of three combined falls their run will be ended and they will be given credit for the number of total logs the least advanced competitor has traversed. Time will be stopped once the second of the two team competitors has returned to their starting dock.

NON-COMPETITIVE ZONES ::

Zone 5: Family Zone

The non-competitive family zone features learning activities where Firewood Splitting techniques will be taught; three single-log rolling pools including one with a picture zone where the log can be locked into place for an individual or family to pose for photos, two 7 meter climbing logs, a firewood stacking challenge area and a special tree planting zone that teaches youngsters and parents alike the value of Tiones Lumber's Renewable Lumber Operations.

8 Track & Field medals so far for the Islands as Busogan runners steal the spotlight in Banija's Olympic City

Image
Onder Kalkan after winning a silver medal in the Women's 100m Hurdles

ISTRIA, MORAVICA- The Busogans were basically considered an afterthought, even in Busogan circles, when it came to the Track & Field events at the AOlympics. Everybody knew that our Islanders had a chance in one event- and that event was Rugby Sevens. That was our chance for a team medals. In a region almost entirely devoid of rugby competitors ever since the Anaia split, we felt that, in one of our nation's most popular sports, we could do some damage against our much larger regional neighbors, and have a chance at gold in Baker Park.

We were largely right. We delivered a 29-7 shellacking of those damned Banijans (who unfortunately earned the tightest of 1-0 wins over us at the AOCAFs) in the quarterfinals, and now will follow that up with a semifinal appearance against another much larger nation, Valanora. There will be a chance to play either Siovanija & Teusland or host nation Baker Park in the final, and that will be our best (and at this point, our only) chance at a team medal.

But the key here is not rugby. The key, is track & field. People wondered how track & field would go. Would we just embarrass ourselves in Istria? Or could we perform? Well, we did not embarass ourselves. We did far better than that. In fact, we've stunned many large portions of Atlantian Oceania, including very specifically both Banija and the Busoga Islands, and now find ourselves third in the overall medal count, ahead of giants like Vilita & Turori, as well as Delaclava, with 8 total medals and potentially more to come.

Let's take a look at our gold medals, shall we? We've already talked about Ant Tuzan's improbable gold medal in the 400m Hurdles. Now, let's talk about an even more improbable one- the Men's Decathlon. The events were going fairly well for us. It's a 10 event marathon held over the course of two consecutive days, wearing out even the best of athletes, and becoming a war of attrition. While I don't have the exact count, Banija's and Squornshelous' competitors were 1-2, with Banija being in second and the Squornshelous runner in first. Busoga was considered to be in third, heading into the final event.

And then, one of the most chaotic Decathlon finishes you'll ever see. Both the Squornshelous runner, Ruslan Lind, and the home crowd's favorite, Uchechy Ugochukwu, saw disqualifications in the final event of the Decathlon- the men's 1500 meter run. Absolutely stunning. Had never seen anything like it before. Both men would have probably medaled even if they finished somewhere in the middle of the pack in the race, probably higher. Ruslan Lind likely would have won gold. But Ugochukwu was ruled to have excessively impeded Impi Lehtinen of Aboveland just 80 meters from the finish line, to a shower of boos from the locals in the heavily diverse crowd.

Stunning all of AO with two surefire medalists disqualified, our very own Zeki Engin ended up top of the table with a gold medal. When asked about the two disqualifications ahead of him, he was short and sweet. "Not my DQ, not my problem. You've got to be able to go 10 full events and do everything that is asked of you- not 9. My heart goes out to Ruslan Lind, but as for Ugochukwu- he had it coming. He had an arrogance about him, like many Banijans do, that he could win just because he was at home. The rules still apply to you on home soil buddy. It's an earned medal for myself and my country, and I am glad that I could do Busoga proud."

On the penultimate day of track & field here at these AOlympics, it was a highly decorated day for the Busoga Islands. The gold medal from the Decathlon, in stunning fashion, highlighted it. But it was a great day to be a fan of Busogan runners. Emel Dogu picked up a bronze medal in the women's marathon, a great result for Busogan runners. Beyond that, Adalet Baykal picked up a bronze medal for herself in the Women's 100m sprint final. It was a photo finish with Delaclava's runner also running a 10.99, but Stella Lavik of Valanora took home the gold medal by running a 10.91. An exciting final with an exciting finish.

But the highlights on this day were the relays. We won silver medals in both the men's and women's 4x100m relays. The women's 4x100m relay was particularly close. A series of sprints to the finish, on the last leg, Malak Aydogan was sprinting against Maria Jawara of Banija, as well as runners from Baker Park, Vilita & Turori, and Geisenfried. All 5 teams that finished(two didn't finish and a third was DQ'd) finished within a half second of each other. Once again- even 4 runners each doing 100m, a photo finish.

It took a while to sort out the results. But it turned out Maria Jawara had leaned her head over just in time, unfortunately earning the Banijans a gold with a 42.44 time, while we finished in second place with a 42.46 time. Although the heartbreak of just barely losing to the Banijans hurt, it was still a great performance for Busogan track. A nation that was probably expected to win 2 or 3 total track & field medals ended up racking up 5 medals in one day, medaling in every single event contested on Day 7 besides the Men's 100m Final.

What's left? Hale Savas is currently leading the Women's Heptathlon, although there are plenty of events to change things. We just saw two poorly timed DQs on the last day change everything in the Decathlon- this is an event that truly is not over until it's over. We've got Mixed Team Archery, and we've got the Men's Marathon. 8 is a stunning haul for a nation without much of any tradition in track & field- but can we really go for the jugular and get one more?

We shall see. But the surprise track & field success has already made the AOlympics a surprisingly great success- even if our loss in the AOCAF Quarterfinal, to Banija of all nations, still tastes as bitter as can be. Prayers up to Hale Savas in the Heptathlon, and to the rugby sevens squad as they go for a spot in the AO Rugby Sevens Final. The beauty of these AOlympics- even with our national soccer withdrawing from the World Cup, these have shown that we are still a sporting force to be reckoned with on the international stage. We have hopefully earned the respect of our peers.

Go Busoga Go!

The golden sun has set on the "Basketball" team of Misrantis. In the quarter final match against the Delaclava team. For Misrantis the sport of boxball is always an enjoyment but in this game Delaclava is leading the score from 2-0 to the very end 79-65. It was not the way Desire Asker was looking to conclude the team event for the Olympic games but the past can not be changed only the future.

Even though it was defeat in the game Misrantis team was earning some respect from the opponent and will hope to bring the skills in boxball back to a future Atlantian Oceania Basketball tournament with better training and better preparing in order to improve and earn a place on the medal stands.

So far Misrantis does not have a medal in the olympic games but there will still be some more chance in the specialty event, Track and Field as well as the new event, Swimming. Misrantis is known to have excellent sailors and sometimes boats stop floating. For this reason Misrantis is also known to have excellent swimmers.

Image

Sometimes you may not be aware of the skill in the swimmers from Misrantis. This is only because if you are sailing and you are known to be a good sailor then you shouldn't also be telling that you are a good swimmer. it will give the indication that you really are a bad sailor because you can not stay on your sailboat and are always in the water. The best sailor doesn't need to swim. But Misrantis is surrounded by water and no other nation is near by. Misrantians must sail to reach any other land but when they are not sailing, running or playing boxball then they are swimming. Swimming for fun and swimming for relaxation. Sometimes also swimming to blend in to the aquatic environment while collecting fish for meals.

It has been an exciting participation for the athletes that were able to sail from Misrantis to participate in the olympic games but now its final opportunity to return to the island of misrantis with a strong sports performance.

Skladdul Sentinel

Verceolans must now pretend to support its Quidditch players

Shock waves struck the nation when seven disloyal Verceolans snuck out of the country in the middle of the night to play a sport called Quidditch, which is apparently played on broomsticks in the air.

No one was happy about this. First of all, magic is not real and therefore illegal for Verceolans to practice. Moreover, Verceola's government did not authorize this team to compete, so they embarrassed us just by showing up, let alone by losing badly to Banija. Our mainland oppressors Delaclava were not happy about this either, because they did not realize their "satellite" would be sending a rogue delegation, and they considered it an affront to their team.

Then, they won against Merulantis and Valanora, and advanced to the quarterfinals, so apparently Verceola's squad became good at this. While there is a certain amount of pride in their success, it is dishonorable that they disobeyed the law, committed heresy so persistently. And the mainland government is ashamed, because the last time Delaclava sent an international Quidditch team, their Seeker tried to make out with his opponent and Delaclava was quickly eliminated. And they sent their own team to this very tournament, and they were eliminated here too. They got completely shown up by their own province.

That shame gives us great happiness, so although the Seven Flying Witches, as they are now called, are not allowed to come back here, lest they be drowned in the ocean, we sincerely wish them the best in the rest of the tournament, and hope they can bring a gold medal to bestow upon our good name of Verceola before they go live out their days somewhere else.

Position: AORDO General
Nominee: Shining Armor
Nationality: Crystal Empire

Qualifications: High Commander, Imperial Guard / Chief of Staff, Equestrian Joint Command

Elevator Pitch: The Prince Consort of the Crystal Empire, Shining Armor is one of the finest military minds of his generation. Having come up through the ranks of the Canterlot Royal Guard, he was ultimately appointed Captain of the Canterlot Guard (arguably the most prestigious post in the entire Royal Guard aside from the position of Lord Commander) before his marriage to Princess Cadance. Shortly after his wedding, Shining Armor resigned his post as Captain of the Guard to take command of the newly-created Imperial Guard in the Crystal Empire following the land's return from temporal stasis.

Shining Armor would also be appointed Chief of Staff of Equestria's Joint Command, and helped oversee the modernization and enlargement of the force after Equestria emerged from its long international isolation. He has been one of Equestria's foremost strategists over the past few decades, protecting the Equestrians from their numerous enemies abroad and was one of its chief commanders during the recent Busoga Islands Conflict. Shining Armor would provide AORDO with an extremely gifted commander, one who has plenty of experience coordinating and overseeing coalition forces, namely those of the Crystal Empire and Equestria.

Image
Position: AORDO Command (Air Forces)
Nominee: Spitfire
Nationality: Equestria

Qualifications: Admiral, Royal Air Force

Elevator Pitch: The one-time Commander of the Wonderbolts (OOC: basically Equestria's Blue Angels), Spitfire is currently an Admiral in the Equestrian Royal Air Force, commanding the Pegasai Air Corps. As AORDO's Air Forces' Commander, Spitfire would bring a unique perspective to the position as the only candidate known to be naturally-gifted with the ability of flight.

Image
Position: AORDO Command (Special Forces)
Nominee: Moonless Night
Nationality: Equestria

Qualifications: Commander, Shadow Guard

Elevator Pitch: Very little is publicly-known about Moonless Night, Equestria's nominee for command over AORDO's Special Forces, but sources within the Equestrian government have confirmed that she was in command of the Shadow Guard (of which little is also known) during the Busoga Islands Conflict nearly a decade ago. The Shadow Guard is rarely spoken of in Equestria, although plenty of rumors abound regarding its size, composition, and actions. All that the Equestrian government itself will confirm is that the unit exists, it is a special detachment within the Royal Guard, and it reports directly to Princess Luna.

Image
Position: AORDO Command (Mage Corps)
Nominee: Arcane Dawn
Nationality: Equestria

Qualifications: Mage, Royal Mage Corps

Elevator Pitch: Viewing the omission of a formal AORDO Commander of its magic-using forces as a clear accident, the Equestrian government has nominated Arcane Dawn for the position. An experienced member of Equestria's Royal Mage Corps, Arcane Dawn saw action during the Liberation of the Busoga Islands and was decorated for her bravery. Arcane Dawn is viewed as a highly-capable administrator, serving as one of Archmage Sunset Shimmer's assistants.

Announcement :: SwimAO Signups are Now Open! - There were some RP's and off topic discussions wondering why we didn't have swimming as a competition during the AOlympics. The original idea was to keep things simple and only have T&F as an individual event. However, the schedule worked out such that Track and Field ends on Friday leaving room to add Swimming events over the weekend. Signups will hard close at the AOlympics MD11 Cutoff on Saturday evening 08/07 so groups can be distributed and the first scores posted

If you are interested in joining the swimming events just put your trigramme in the spreadsheet and pick a boost event if you desire. Since its an additional event everyone will go in with the same rating though RP bonus will still apply. To make numbers work and depending on interest level some nations may not be added to every single event. Boost events will be prioritized and any nation who has not won any medals yet in AOlympics (or didn't sign up to anything yet) but shows interest by joining SwimAO will be prioritized entry to every event. There are slightly under 24 hours left to do this, so please jump in!

OOC: Apologies for not being around for this more, buried in work. May still yet post a roster when I finish it, even if it's out of date by this point, but wanted to get these out first.

Image
Position: AORDO Command (Naval Forces)
Nominee: Rudolf Albein
Nationality: Heimüller, Principality of Heinessen, Königsbund von Geisenfried

Qualifications:
- Admiral in the Königsbund Kriegsmarine (KBKM), the Royal Federal Navy (former)
- Commander of Ostflotte, the Eastern Fleet (former)
- Chief of Staff, KBKM (former)
- Vice-Chairman and Chairman, Oberkommando der Streitkräfte (OKS), Geisen Joint Chiefs of Staff (former)
- Minister of Defense, Geisenfried Federal Goverment Cabinet (former)

Elevator Pitch: Born as the son of a seaman and named after a grandfather who was also a seamen, it was inevitable that the waters would call too to Rudolf, but even considering his familial legacy, he took to the navy with aplomb. Graduating from the Heimüller Marineakademie, he became a lifer, spending a forty-five year career in the the Kriegsmarine, from lieutenant to flag officer, before spending the last five years on the Geisen Joint Chiefs of Staff, serving as the Kriegsmarine's Chief of Staff before taking the position of Vice Chairman and eventually Chairman of that organization. Outspoken and gregarious, he was always popular in political circles, and after a period of retirement, he was invited to serve by Bundeskanzler Frederick Mittermeyer as the Verteidigungsminister, head of the Ministry of Defense, an offer he happily accepted, never one to be content to sit quietly. Somewhat controversially amongst the more isolationist Geisen government, he was a supporter of possible intervention during the Banijan-Equestrian crisis, as Geisenfried sits next door. It came to naught, however, and with the eventual transition from the Mittermeyer government to the current Gerhardt-Kreuz administration, Rudolf left the office, and has been enjoying retirement ever since. With the convening of the Stelburg Conference, however, Admiral Albein's experience in both the military and political fields befits his nomination, even if he is a bit long in the tooth.

Image
Position: AORDO Command (Air Forces)
Nominee: David Steube
Nationality: Sileväl, Principality of Bährens, Königsbund von Geisenfried

Qualifications:
- Chief Air Marshal in the Königsbund Luftwaffe (KBLW), the Royal Federal Air Force
- Commander of Luftflotte Vier, the Fourth Air Force (former)
- Chief of Staff, KBLW

Elevator Pitch: Currently the Luftwaffe's Chief of Staff on the OKS, David rose through the ranks on the merits of his organizational skills, eventually reaching the very top of the ranks, his current position of Generalluftmarschall, or Chief Air Marshal. A graduate of the Greifeläs Offiziersausbildung, he quickly proved to be a wizard with logistics, even as a junior officer. Though otherwise quiet, straight-laced and unassuming, his talents quickly gathered attention of higher ups and put on track towards achieving more senior positions. With a knack of improving efficiency wherever he went, Steube became an essential cog of every unit he was a part of, eventually making his way to the top of one of Geisenfried's 12 numbered air forces. Having been finally chosen into the most senior role of the Geisen Air Force, the calling of the Stelburg Conference nonetheless brings an opportunity to reach the equivalent position within the broader region. Though no hotshot former pilot, Chief Air Marshal Steube is a master logistician, and should prove a worthy nomination for AORDO Command.

Image
Position: AORDO Command (Special Forces)
Nominee: Mathilde Kleve
Nationality: Königseifert, Hauptstadt District, Königsbund von Geisenfried

Qualifications:
- Major in the Königsbund Wehrmacht (KBWM), Royal Federal Armed Forces (former)
- Sondereinheitskräfte (SEK) Training, Geisenfried Special Forces, Distinguished Service Medal
- Field Commander, Öffentlichesicherheitsgruppe-Neun (ÖSG-9), Geisenfried Federal Police Forces Specialty Counter-Terrorism Unit (former)
- Operations Commander, (ÖSG-9) (former)
- Deputy Director, (ÖSG), Geisenfried Federal Police Force

Elevator Pitch: Mathilde is a born soldier, and quickly dedicated herself to her craft. Graduating magna cum laude from the Barheim Militärakademie, she dove head first into special forces training shortly thereafter, becoming one of the few women accepted into the program. Despite having some difficulty in a somewhat male-dominated field, she nevertheless proved herself worthy, earning several promotions over the course of her military career, serving with distinction in Geisenfried's SEK, the army's special forces branch. This distinguished service, however, caught the eye of the ÖSG-9, the Geisen Federal Police's special counter-terrorism unit. The Öffentlichesicherheitsgruppe, which also has eight broader geographic groups, has a select ninth division, very small in number and elite in stature, dedicated to handling the most extreme circumstances that might arise. After much heart searching, Mathilde left her position in the military to take over field command of this task force, a role she would form admirably in the times to come. After the retirement of the prior operations commander, she was promoted to his position, before eventually being given the position of Deputy Director of the entire ÖSG. With both field and administrative experience and a specialty in counter-terrorism operations, she should prove a capable nominee.

Image
Position: AORDO Command (Space Forces)
Nominee: Albrecht Fischer
Nationality: Seliesse, Principality of Geofon, Königsbund von Geisenfried

Qualifications:
- Captain, KBLW, (Royal Federal Air Force) (former)
- Flight Director, Mount Silbernberg Launch Facility

Elevator Pitch: Compared to his compatriots, Albrecht's military resume is much lighter - a intellectual son of a blue-collar working class family, he saw the military as a way to pay for a higher class education than he might otherwise afford. Graduating with academic honors in engineering from the Greifeläs Offiziersausbildung, he served for only six years, leaving at the rank of Hauptmann, or Captain, and departing to his dream job working with Geisenfried's National Space Agency, the Geisen Raumfahrtbehörde or GRFB. Though civilian in nature, the organization nevertheless maintains close ties with the Geisen military, as much of Geisen rocketry was born from military projects and military backing, and still launches some clandestine operations for the armed forces like reconnaissance satellites. Albrecht would eventually make his way up to Flight Director of the GRFB's primary launch facility, a combination mass driver/rocket complex built up the side of a mountain in the southeast of Geisenfried, and Fischer has long been trusted with a variety of sensitive payloads. Considered in the running of Director-General of the GRFB, he has nevertheless proven eager to involve himself into AORDO's Space Forces so as to foster pan-regional space initiatives and has been thusly nominated.

Track & Field wraps up, Quidditch team Advances

With track and field events now concluded, and the first team medals starting to be awarded, the IAS have delivered a very creditable performance for such an ad hoc delegation. In the current medal count, Banija and Valanora are the leaders, with the latter having the greatest total with 14 medals, but Banija with an overwhelming advantage in gold, with nine. By total medals, the Squornshelan delegation is sixth, with seven to their name. Going by gold first though, they sit in a three-way tie for second with the Busoga Islands and Deleclava. The Commonwealth of Baker Park is tied with the Islanders for total medals with ten, but just one of those has been gold. Those two nations will each make their overall total eleven when the AORC final is contested, but whether it will bring their gold count closer or further apart remains to be seen. The Vanorians, despite their impressive total, have only two gold medals, and will be pushing hard to add to that total in the upcoming AOBC final against Pluvia and the Saxean Isles, who clinched their first medal of any kind at these AOlympics by winning their semifinal against Qasden. They'll hope to follow the example of Euran Oceanian Territories, whose only medal earned so far is gold, even as the expats seek to earn a second such medal in the AOBS final against Banija. Banija have another opportunity for team gold in the AOLC final against Milchama. Thankfully for those still holding out hope of catching them atop the medal table, the Banijans are no longer a factor in the AOHC, AOCC, or AOWL tournaments, which have all now reached the semifinal stage. In Ice Hockey, keep an eye on Gyatso-kai's team, as they are the last hope for an Avatarian medal at these games. Our own Squornshelan delegation is still alive in curling and has now also advanced to the semis in quidditch. Koller apparently worked out whatever mechanical troubles disrupted the match against Qasden, and managed to grab the snitch nearly out of the Vanorian seeker, Morgan Engström's hand. I suppose it's difficult to defend against a rival seeker who can grab things from over 30 feet away. In any case, we'll have to wait until the final day of the games to find out if they'll medal, and what type it might be. Oh, and of course there are still medals to be awarded in AOMC racing. Very quaint, driving things on wheels, but people do seem to enjoy it.

Heading back to the final day at the track, Alyona Hjort, competing in the women's heptathlon, looked to be among the favorites to potentially medal for Squornshelous, as was Bernt Engberg in the men's marathon. The mixed archery team was also expected to do well, and they delivered, reaching the semifinal, where they fell in a tiebreak to Baker Park. The bronze medal match against Banija was also extremely close, as the Squornshelans fell just one point short of forcing a second tiebreak, settling for fourth. The mixed 4x400m relay team was the only Squornshelan relay team to make a final, but finished about where they were expected to, well out of the medal picture in sixth. Still, it's a big accomplishment, and we can applaud their effort nonetheless. After all, in relay events you're always only a botched handoff away from catching the favorites. Back to the events expected to bear real fruit for the IAS, Hjort's medal hopes took a significant hit in the long jump, where she performed poorly, slipping back out of medal position. Following that though, the athletes went to the javelin throw, Hjort's best event, and she delivered everything she'd needed, placing first and putting herself into fourth place heading to the 800m run, just 28 points behind Monica Davis of Delaclava. She ended up boxed in in the middle of the pack, and finished nearly ten seconds off the pace, slipping back to a disappointing sixth in the final standings. In a field of 24 whittled down to just 17 at the finish, Bernt Engberg formed a breakaway group along with Pat Goldsmith of Baker Park and Liisito Juralii of Vilita & Turori. The three traded the lead and worked their way clear of the chasing pack, and eventually their lead exceeded four minutes. In the final stretch, Goldsmith was left behind, and Engberg lost out in the last hundred meters or so, finishing in second by just four seconds. It was a thrilling finish for the spectators in attendance, and Engberg need feel no shame at coming up second best, as it was an incredible effort from all three medalists.

AOTF Day 8: Greeley enters double gold club in thrilling finish

Mixed relay: Unconventional strategy pays off in comeback victory

The typical strategy in a mixed 4x400 relay: start with a male on your longest and toughest leg off the blocks, run both your females, then finish strong with the male anchor. But Delaclava opted in the heats to run both women, then both men, a decision heavily criticized by pundits, including ourselves. The women's 400-meter national champion Chloe Ross admitted that the team had struggled with their pacing, contributing to a dreadful time by the team. Regardless, the Flames were in the final, and they were going to make the most of it - with the same strategy.

Going against the men, Deena Marshall started strongly, running the turns with aggression and managing to keep the gap to approximately 40 meters. With Ross running in pursuit of the women, she seems to noticeably make up some time, catching the stragglers from Geisenfred and Mlima Kijani, before handling off to the hurdler Brad Bohanon.

Bohanon, looking for redemption after crashing out in the heats of the 400-meter hurdles, tore up the track with ease, and by the time he reached Alex Greeley, he had a 10-meter lead. The other men waved frantically to get the batons, but the only teams close enough to strike were Vilita & Turori and Valanora. With Greeley pacing himself somewhat, both teams passed him on the back straightaway.

But Greeley wasn't done, and he had the 200-meter speed. Looking relaxed the whole time, he rode the shoulder of the Vanorian anchor before pulling out and accelerating at the top of the turn. He entered the straightaway in Lane 2, and steadily hunted down a straining Vilita & Turori before dipping at the line to clinch a tight but apparent victory for the Flames. Greeley was mobbed by his relay teammates, before being joined shortly by Nieves, in attendance watching, and the new medalist Monica Davis (more below).

"We felt more comfortable, we ran to our potential," Greeley said. "We have an unusual strategy, but it works - we just had to execute. And with 200 meters to go, I was there to strike, I knew we were not losing that race."

It was a rewarding gold medal beyond itself. For Ross, it was an opportunity to showcase her strength despite not having a chance to compete her best individual event. For Bohanan and Marshall, it was a second chance after flopping in other events, with Marshall finishing seventh in the 200 and not even receiving the baton in her 4x100 relay. And for Greeley, like his countryman Roussel Nieves, he took his second gold medal, ascending to one of the most important athletes of the meet, a star in his own countries, and now one of the biggest absences at the Olympics in Electrum.

Men's marathon: Trask pulls out early

After seeing compatriot Sarah Case win silver in the 10,000 meters and finish ninth in the marathon the next day, Chris Trask hoped he could do the same. And indeed, he did get a PR in his own 10,000 with a time of 28:13.75.

But even with an extra day of recovery, it was too much to ask as Trask withdrew from the marathon just 11 km into the race, citing a groin injury.

"I'm really disappointed I wasn't good to go today," Trask said. "I think I was up to the task if I was close to healthy. I pulled the groin during the finish of the 10, and it wasn't something I was able to shake out today... There was no reason to risk anything further. I'll be back before you know it." Trask has professed his hope to compete in the Three Rivers Marathon, the DTFAF national championship, in just a few weeks time.

The podium wasn't decided until the very end, with Vilita & Turori's runner defeating Bernt Engberg of Squornshelous by just four seconds, in a time of 2:13:43. Pat Goldsmith of Baker Park took the bronze in another eight seconds back.

Women's heptathlon: Consistency nets Davis a bronze

Monica Davis didn't exactly shine in any of the seven events over two days in Istria, but she was in the mix every single race - and when it was time for the three medalists to take the podium, there she was.

Placed fifth after four events and one day, Davis reeled off fifth in the long jump, fourth in the javelin, and fourth in the 800 meters, holding steady as the athletes from Squornshelous and Vilita & Turori cracked to take the bronze. The event was won by Busoga Islands' Have Salas, who led after one day and just barely held off Banija's Amarachi Chineze by five points. Davis finished 51 points clear of Milchama's fourth-place finisher.

Davis showed off her remarkable well-roundedness in the events, finishing either fourth, fifth, or seventh in every single event. Her best event, the high jump, scored 1093 points with a 1.89 meter jump, and she capped her performance with an 800-meter DB of 2:09.07. She said of the medal, "I didn't know exactly what the competition would have, but I think I managed my energy really well, and I was getting close to or better than my personal bests everywhere. This bronze is my best effort and I'm so proud that I made it all the way through with something to show for it.

Vilita & Turori Claim Marathon Gold

Olympic Stadium, Istria, Moravica, Banija :: The AOlympic Track and Field Competition came to a close on the 10th overall day of competition with medals being awarded in the Women's Heptathlon, Team Archery, Men's Marathon and the 4x400m.

Kigeloi Lalcea contested the Women's Heptathlon on behalf of Vilita and Turori and put in a solid Top 5 performance, falling just under 100 points short of the Bronze medal. Lalcea didn't have a single Top performance across any of the seven events but was consistently inside the Top 5 and rode that consistency to a 5th place finish overall. Most notably, Lalcea was tied for third in the high jump with athletes from Delaclava and Squornshelous with all three earning 1093 points for their efforts.

While Vilita and Turori did not qualify for the Mixed Team Archery Final, it was a massive day for the team in one of the most exciting Men's Marathon finishes in all Olympic history, no less at the AOlympics. Liisito Juralii who entered the Marathon as second choice for Vilita and Turori behind Cullaka Nione who was already training for the Olympic Games in Electrum found themselves in a three-athlete battle for the Gold Medal coming down the final stretch and into the stadium. The runners swapped position up front with Juralii trailing just behind Bernt Engberg of Squornshelous as the duo stretched their advantage over Baker Park's Pat Goldsmith. It was down to the two for the Gold and Juralii had a little more left in the tank as she kicked out and overtook Engberg just before entering the stadium, leading through to his first ever Marathon Gold Medal and just the second gold of the games for the delegation from Vilita and Turori.

After opening the track and field competition with a Gold in Shot Put on the opening matchday, Vilita and Turori waited until the final matchday to secure their second gold medal and nearly got a third as the Track and Field Competition came to a close with the 4x400m Final. The Vilita and Turori Relay team was barely beat out by the team from Delaclava but still earned an impressive silver medal to close out the competition.

It was the only action of the day outside of the AOMC for Vilita and Turori who had already been eliminated from the Quidditch, Basketball, Baseball, Rugby and Lacrosse competitions.

Lonngeylin Ring, Lonngeylin, Vilita :: It was a big day for the Vilitan and Turorian teams in the AOMC however with the first local event of the competition taking place at the one-third mile Lonngeylin Ring in Vilita. Despite the home track advantage it would be Yraaga Gilli'i representing Tropicorp winning the first heat over Turori's iBen Toralmintii. Vilitan driver River 'Shark' Suzgar II placed 4th to advance to the feature along with GIlli'i and Toralmintii.

In the second heat World Grand Prix 2 driver R.L. Cruisin put in an impressive performance for their first race on a short track but was unable to convert it into points finishing half a second behind Jelan Ozoemena for 10th place and the last point on offer. River Suzgar was able to get Bronze for Vilita while Turori's Alt Driver, Lotara Novorali was able to impressive with her own performance which would result in a 4th place finish for the NSSCRA Everlong Series Driver. With the results, both Vilita and Turori secured their place in the knockout round and will await their potential draw after the conclusion of Round 9 in Tropicorp.

Tropicoast Beach Course :: Information

About the Track:

Track Location: Tropicoast, Tropicorp, Atlantian Oceania
Track Record: 107.561s ( Anavella Ariiki, NSSCRA 8 )
Track Lap Length: 4.1 Mile

Image Image

Image Image

The race begins on the Tropicorp Motorway; an access road that runs along the coast connecting different primary areas of the Tropicorp campus, Tropicoast itself and nearby facilities. While it is typically considered a two lane road and racing will be tight on the paved main straightway when compared with the compacted sand on the back straightaway, drivers should be able to fit three-across without having to dip their wheels into the sand. Not too far down the road past the start finish line is the original Tropicorp headquarters building which now serves as the Tropicorp visitor center. The iconic Tropicorp sign surrounded by Palm Trees can still be seen and will provide an excellent photo backdrop particularly for the Team Tropicorp cars. The Tropicorp Visitor Center will also serve as the site of the Tropicorp Pit Crew Competition taking place prior to the Tropicorp 500.

Image Image

After passing the Tropicorp Visitor Center the road will begin to bend into an elbow as drivers will begin setting themselves up for the big curve and the transition off the paved surface. There is still plenty of room to pass after the elbow, however as drivers scream down one of the longest paved straightaways in motorsports. As drivers approach the Dart billboard they will begin to see the big curve climbing into the sky in the distance and will need to begin preparing themselves for braking to set up for the difficult transition from the paved surface to the compacted sand.

Image Image

As drivers prepare to make the big left hand curve off the paved surface, any drivers who brake too late or have an issue with their cars will have two options. Drivers may opt to continue straight down the paved road through the lightweight swing signs marking the end of the racing surface if they have an issue with their car and are not planning to continue in the race. Otherwise, drivers who miss the entry to the corner should still be able to make the turn and scrub speed as they climb the banking with the brakes applied. Some drivers may choose to climb the banking purposely to carry additional speed both into and out of the large turn installed by the Tropicorp locals both as a safety measure to allow cars to scrub speed off after flying down the nearly two-mile long paved straightaway.

Image Image

While drivers will have been mostly constrained to a 2-3 lane wide paved surface on the front straightaway in order to maintain maximum grip and speed, once they exit from the big curve they will open up into a wide open straight of compacted sand that will allow half the field to spread out and battle side by side if need be. The compacted sand is of slightly different color than the un altered natural beach sand and drivers will know the difference if they stray too close to the water line, though there is plenty of room for error on the racing surface before a driver would be in danger of going off into the unprepared surface. The inside of the course opens up to allow a pitlane before the tight, flat curve at the start/finish end of the course.

Image Image

Unlike the big curve at the other end of the course, drivers will not be able to carry a lot of speed into the flat curve and anyone that does may find themselves into the orange guard rail fencing and out of the event. By far the slowest part of the course, the flat curve will allow fans in the grandstands an opportunity to see all the cars and take nice pictures with the large Tropicorp billboards in the background at the center of curvature. As drivers exit the curve it will be a race to regain traction on the paved surface - taking a wider exit may allow contact patch with the pavement sooner but will increase distance traveled and may result in a slick paved surface due to kick back from the compacted sand. Taking a tighter exit to the turn may result in slower entry speed but a cleaner more natural transition back to the paved surface for the spring back to the finish line just meters ahead.

Image

Fan Access:

Fans will watch the race from the large Main Grandstand at the flat curve and a series of smaller grandstands along the front straightaway on either side of the Start/Finish line. There will be 'Campground' style access in the center of the course however there is no entry/exit from the center of the course when the race is under green flag conditions. There will be an employee-only viewing party at the Tropicorp Visitors Center while fans will also be able to utilize grandstands along the front straightaway at the transition to the Big Curve.

FanZone Information

Round 9 of the AOMC will take place concurrent with the NSSCRA Multiversal Series' Tropicorp 500 Race Weekend which will also include the Tropicorp Sifaka 300 Atlantian Oceania Competitive Auto Racing (AOCAR) Stock Car Series Event. As such there will be a huge attendance and large vendor presence at the track much of which will seem unaffiliated with the AOlympics itself.

Pit Crew Challenge :: Tropicorp Racing Supply will host their 'Pit Crew Challenge" outside the flat curve where fans will be able to test their ability to change an NSSCRA tyre or act as the fuel person so long as they first sign a release form indemnifying Tropicorp of any injury that may occur as they attempt to set the fast times in the challenge. Participants may also enter Tropicorp's Pit Crew Challenge Promotion on Practice and Qualifying Day where the fastest competitors could get invited to pit the #42 Tropicorp Racing Supply Dart of Euroli Islander during the Tropicorp NSSCRA Pit Crew Competition.

Cocoabo Zone & "Meet the Techie" Exhibit :: The Cocoabo Preservation Society will be on hand with a special Cocoabo Zone in the area outside the front straightaway past the Start-Finish line where trained Cocoabo will be on hand demonstrating some of their skills. Cocoabo Enrichment and Enhancement Project trainers will be on hand with their Cocoabo to discuss some of their training methods.

Cocoa-bo :: Delectable company Cocoa-bo will be on hand with a 'spin the wheel' and sample tent where fans can sample some Cocoa-bo product as well as purchase items for sale. Fans can also line up to spin the wheel for prizes including spinners, sunglasses and magnets with the Cocoa-bo logo on them.

twii.tur :: twii.tur will have 3 locations around the speedway where fans can have their picture taken and instantly delivered via twii.tur from inside the stock cars of Cocoabo #28 or the special #98 @CocoaboPark Dart that Jixaka Motorai drives in the Everlong Contenders Series as well as the World Grand Prix Championship car driven by TJUN-ia's Lane Carter during the recently completed World Grand Prix Championship season.

Tiones Lumber :: The Tiones Lumberjack Challenge will continue at the Tropicoast Beach Course after making its first appearance of he season just early in the week at the Lonngeylin Ring in Vilita. In the Tiones Lumberjack competition fans and athletes alike are invite to take part in a number of unique Lumberjacking stations and earning top scores to compare both with themselves and compete for prizes throughout the race weekend for besting the existing top scores.

Mainland government informs Verceola they may not exile Quidditch players

The Delaclava Parliament and Office of the President have released a joint statement to the Verceolan government warning that they are not permitted to ban the Verceolan Quidditch team from re-entering the borders, or to impose the death penalty for their action.

"We issue this statement as a reminder that Verceola is a province of the United Republic of Delaclava, subject to its federal laws and regulations; as such, any provincial or municipal law of Verceola may not impose unreasonable punishment on a person for any reason," read the statement from President Joseph Urso and Prime Minister Andrew Knight, in an act of bipartisanship from leaders of two dissenting parties. "Heresy is not a crime, and it is foolish to have any stipulations for this act in any code of law. Furthermore, no state, province, territory, or otherwise jurisdiction of Delaclava is permitted to administer the death penalty, and it should be apparent that the suggestion for a non-violent action would be wholly unacceptable.

"While the Delaclava Olympic Committee strongly disapproves of the unauthorized entry of a separate Verceolan team, especially in a tournament that also included a Delaclav team - a position that we support - we nevertheless congratulate the team for their accomplishments, to this date and in the future. Our government must first and foremost protect the rights to life and liberty of all Delaclav citizens. We unequivocally promise that the seven players may return without repercussion to anywhere within Delaclav jurisdiction, and furthermore we insist they may not be legally prevented from entering, nor prosecuted upon entering the province of Verceola.

"Failure to abide by this instruction may result in the forceful removal of the sitting Verceolan government."

Verceolan Prime Minister Jadwiga Metz responded in kind, through her Press Secretary Devin Rober: "We must be permitted to condemn acts of heresy and betrayal, especially as they appear within our own borders, which we must have our constitutional right to govern. The mainland's permission of past history is precisely a factor that resulted in the failure of the First Republic, and your continued insistence to condone such behavior is indicative that you have no cultural, political, or legal manifest right to the land and people of Verceola."

Amid the back-and-forth statements, the Verceola team continues to succeed, defeating Gyatso-kai 370-210 to advance to the semifinals of the Atlantian Oceania Quidditch tournament. A game that Verceola led by just a single goal was blown apart when Vivianne Cortez of Tarjant did what is described within the game as "catching the Snitch", an obscure action that scores 150 points for the team and ends the game. They will face Saint Kanye for a berth in the final.
IC disputed territory and OOC puppet of Delaclava, all messages will be answered more quickly if directed there.

Forget basketball. Forget gridiron. St. Kanye's best ball sport in the AOlympics seems to be quidditch, as their striker unit-wearing team just made it to the AOWL semifinals with a 260-220 victory over Milchama.

Down 220-40 after three hours of play, the Yeezies needed to step up the scoring, a snitch capture not enough to give them the win at that point. During a timeout, captain Dwight Edwards told his teammates, "We may be down big at this point, but our chance of winning still isn't zero. When will it be zero? Only once we stop fighting and give up. Many fans aren't too keen on us since we don't use brooms, but why should we care? We're here to prove that the old ways aren't always best."

Now fired up, the team went on a 70 to nothing run in the next forty minutes, getting three scores from chaser Juliana Medina and two each from Heather Houser and Raphael Tremblay. But their score is still half of Milchama's. Seeker Jen Holland watched the skies like a hawk, hoping to end this game and give her team the win once more. After nearly half an hour of searching and no change in the scoreboard, she eventually spotted the snitch about twenty yards to her left, making a dash for it. The Milchamians tried to block her path so their own seeker could grab it, but Holland flew upward to avoid them, her striker unit's noisy propellers also providing a distraction. She then dove down and followed the snitch's path, her Milchamian counterpart in hot pursuit. Edwards and fellow beater Armin Ellis realized what's happening and started flying over to escort Holland and block out the opponents, however, they didn't really need to as the Kanyean seeker was already able to stretch out her left arm and swipe at the little winged ball, catching it.

Up next for St. Kanye are the "Seven Flying Witches" of Verceola, that country's only AOlympics participants. Said Yeezie assistant coach Josh Moritz, "Looking at the group stage tables, they're very similar to us in terms of offensive and defensive production. It looks like the game could go either way, but of course we'll try to make it go our way." The other semis matchup will be powerhouses Sarzonia versus the Independent Athletes of Squornshelous, the latter also defying tradition by riding flying motorcycles. "Imagine a game between those bikers and us," said chaser Medina. "The quidditch purists are gonna lose their sh-t."

AOMC Knockout Round Preview: Eelandii Stadium Course

Eel's Park, Eelandii, Turori

About the Track:
Image

Each team will stage two Drivers (Driver #1 and Driver #2).
The Higher Seeded team will start in the Outside Lane (Orange) of the Möbius Circuit. The Möbius Circuit consists of a track which is both parallel and serial as it is one continuous track that loops into two segments from the starting area. Drivers from competing nations will functionally start side by side and complete two passes of the S/F Line (One complete duration of the Möbius Circuit. After completing the Möbius circuit the two drivers will drive straight through the tunnel and outside the Stadium on the unified track and compete head to head around the arena, re-entering on the far end. The Stadium Course will continue around the outside of the field until returning to the S/F Line completing that Drivers' time on track.

After the first driver has crossed the Finish Line, their teammate already staged in the green staging area will begin their lap around the Möbius Circuit. Both second drivers will run the exact same course that the first drivers ran. First team to reach the Finish line advances.

Six nations will contest the first round of the AOMC Knockouts while Team Vilita will await the Quarter Final results before learning who their semi-final opponent will be. Team Vilita finished the AOMC Strong thanks to World Class performances by River 'Shark' Suzgar II. Suzgar's big victory came in the Last Chance Feature where the drivers that had accrued the most points for their country in the preceding 8 rounds would have one more chance to earn points and placement for their country. Suzgar was already assured a starting position in the race due to their three prior podium finishes for Vilita but still posted the second fastest time in the open qualifying session. The race itself used an inverse points starting grid which meant that Suzgar would have to start last in the fifteen car field but it would not take long for the former NSSCRA Champion to move up to the front of the pack.

Having been familiar with the course from having not only competed it but having been a former winner of the Tropicorp 500, Suzgar was able to make a move down the long straightaway on the very first lap of the race as drivers jockeyed to get their cars up to speed. Suzgar was able to keep the car low as drivers washed up the large banking on Lighthouse Hill and by the end of the first lap was already up to 6th position. From there Suzgar would slowly pick off the remaining drivers but still had a fight on their hands from another former NSSCRA Champion, Jeremiah Brooke. Eventually the two would make their way to the front and exchange the lead multiple times through the final laps. Suzgar led at the White Flag but Brooke had been following right on their bumper down the beach stretch and into the flat final turn. Brooke got the Purple and Neon Saint Kanye machine underneath Suzgar's Jungle Teal and Coral colored Vilita race car at the exit of the final turn but Suzgar was able to accelerate off the turn and beat Brooke to the line to take the checkered flag. With the result, Vilita would finish first in the AOMC Point Standings to take top seed for the Knockout Rounds ahead of Saint Kanye who would take the second see thanks to Brooke's Silver Medal in the AOMC Tropicorp Round.

The final standings would set up an intriguing Quarter Final Matchup between Team Turori and Team Aboveland that many might have projected as a potential AOMC Final Matchup. However, while the two winningest drivers in the history of the World Grand Prix Circuit - 10 Time Grand Prix winner iBen Toralmintii of Turori and three time champion Terho Talvela of Aboveland will be competing as Driver #1 for their nation, each would have a weaker secondary point haul to drop the teams in the standings and force the early knockout round meeting between the two nations.
