It's been an incredibly long time since the end of the 10th edition of the Quidditch World Cup, so let's open sign-ups and host bids for the 11th edition since we're getting a little bit of activity on the discussion thread!

Please indicate your sign-ups here, and if you intend to bid to host, please indicate that as well.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please limit sign-ups to one main nation and one publicly announced additional country (referred to in NS parlance as a puppet). Any puppet nations must clearly indicate in their initial sign-up whom the parent nation is. In addition, the parent nation must clearly confirm the puppet's status.

Any violation of this announcement will result in the expulsion of the puppet nation from the competition at minimum.

May I express my utmost appreciation for the announcement of the organisation of the eleventh Quidditch World Cup. By way of a positive response to the announcement, I would request that the former and inaugural World Champions, Starblaydia, be included in the tournament as a competitor.

OOC: Anyone who doesn't have Magic, Quidditch, or the Potterverse as an integral part of their RPing, or for those who a wizarding community would simply be out of character for the way they RP their nation, or even if you are thinking in terms of an International Domestic Quidditch Newswires-type activity - you're certainly more than welcome to say that some or all of your players are ex-pupils of the Percyvale Academy of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Starblaydia's answer to Hogwart's, or that they play for one of the Starblaydi Quidditch Sunday League (the SQSL, also known as the 'Squizzle') teams. Just drop me a TG and we can arrange it officially.

There is a multicoloured burst of light, as a large Raven (wearing a golden chain as a collar) arrives -- apparently from out of nowhere -- in the relevant office. She lands on a desk, looks around, stands up into a more vertical posture, then uses the tip of her right wing to reach into the space beneath & ahead of her left one from which she somehow pulls out a scroll.
"The Free Bears of the Confederated Clans and other Confederated Body of Bears Armed request a place for their nation's wizards in this tournament," she says, holding the scroll out towards the people facing her.

OOC Notes

1. Some of you may remember the sapient Ravens who live (as a minority group) in this nation, their ability to take "short cuts" through some other dimension with that burst of light when they arrive, and their employment as couriers, from earlier RPs. One pulling a message out of what anime fans might call 'hammerspace'' like that appeared, as a postal employee inside this nation, in my RP during an [Association] Football World Cup. Their use of wingtips as hands was inspired, OOC, by various cartoon crows e.g. in Disney's [original version of] 'Dumbo'.

2. The scroll is signed by "'Borrin O Redwood, Chairbear of the Committee for the Strangers" -- a person whom some of you may remember as the first head of our UN/WA mission, now employed as this nation's equivalent of 'Foreign Minister' -- and, as a senior representative of the nation's wizarding community, "Serious Blacke, Headmaster of Hogwings Academy". (The existence of this school was publicly announced quite recently, although its exact location -- which I have placed on my private versions of the relevant maps -- is still officially secret.)

3. Yes, "The Free Bears of the Confederated Clans and other Confederated Bodys" is the nation's proper pre-title, even though the game's coding doesn't allow me to use all of that OOC on the nation's main page. Yes, that is how -- in this context, at least -- the Bears spell "Bodys".


4. In some previous Quidditch World Cups I entered teams from a nation called 'The Hidden Paw', a rather secretive breakaway group of Ursines whose ancestors had lived in Bears Armed and that has a rather complex back-story that I never got around to revealing. They are currently lying low, and so will not send a team this time around.
