Roster Thread

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to World Cup 88, proudly hosted by Cassadaigua and Chromatika!

This is the official roster thread for the World Cup. If you have signed up for the World Cup, then it is time to inform us of those who will be representing your nation. A typical roster will have a list of eleven starters and reserves, at the very least. It should also include the manager/head coach. You can even feel free to name a complete list of staff.

Roster posts are also the place to provide your national stadium(s) information. Half of your qualifying games will be played on home turf, so this will allow everyone to know about your facilities.

It can also include: formations, strategies/tactics, team background, traditions, kits/jerseys, fans, players' roles, team achievements, nicknames, and anything else you can think of.

Style Modifiers:
Nations are also invited to include a style modifier for their team. Style mods range from -5 to +5. A team that plays offensively, attacking more and focusing on scoring more goals at the cost of defense, should choose a positive style mod (anywhere from +0.001 to +5.0); they will both score and concede more goals on average. Teams that would rather sit back and focus on defense to prevent their opponents from scoring too many goals should choose a negative style mod (anywhere from -0.001 to -5.0); they will give up fewer goals, but will also have more difficulty scoring goals than their offense-first counterparts. For those who want the best of both worlds, or just don't really care to choose one style over the other, a neutral style mod of 0 is the best option. Nations that do not indicate a style mod will be assigned a neutral one.

After the first match day, if a participant wishes to change their style mod to one different from what they initially posted, they may do so by sending the host scorinating their next match a request via telegram. It is asked that participants include an in-character rationale for the change in their TG to the hosts. Nations will only be allowed one style mod change after the first day of qualifying, so choose wisely when asking.

RP Permissions Box
It is also asked that participants include information on what their opponents can and cannot include in RPs about their team by posting an RP permissions box (or its equivalent) with their roster:

Code: Select all
My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my goalscorers: Yes/No
Godmod scoring events: Yes/No
RP injuries to my players: Yes/No
Godmod injuries to my players: Yes/No
Hand out yellow cards to my players: Yes/No
Hand out red cards to my players: Yes/No
Godmod other events: Yes/No

Posting a roster for your team will earn you a valuable bonus as well as the gratitude of other nations in your group, since writing match reports quickly becomes boring if one is unable to name any of their opponents' players. If you have any OOC comments, questions, or concerns please post them in the World Cup Discussion Thread or send one of the hosts a TG here or a DM on discord.

For more guidance on what a roster should/can look like, take a look through the World Cup 87 roster thread.

THE TUMBRAN NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM
The Black Eagles

Image

IMPORTANT OOC NOTE: For all intents and purposes, this Tumbra that began contesting in WCQ87 is an entirely new nation. They have no recollection of their earlier exploits from WC70-80, because that simply didn't exist for this Tumbra. Any and all similarities to the nation of the similar name can and should be construed as glitches in the Multiverse. You may, however, make muted references to "having done this before" or something. For a detailed explanation of how this came to be, read these RPs.

The Tumbran National Football Team is Tumbra's main representative in all association football competitions for national associations. Making its debut at the 87th World Cup Qualifiers, the team currently ranks 117th in the world. The team is controlled by the Tumbran Football Federation, which is also the governing body of football in Tumbra. Also known as the Black Eagles, or affectionately the Eagles, the team competes in the World Cup and its related competitions; it also participates in the Campionato Esportiva, also sends teams to the Di Bradini Cup for Under-21s, and the Under-18 World Cup, in which the team won it's 13th incarnation.

The current manager of the team is one Marco Hemmings, who took charge of the team before the WC87 qualifying cycle. For decades, Tumbra suffered under a succession of coaches who preferred dour, boring defensive football — Hemmings has changed all that. Prioritising high-tempo, fluid, pressing and passing play, Tumbra's players are a joy to watch.

Bolded players denote starters, but pre-match XIs will be posted before every cutoff. If none are posted, feel free to pick and choose from this side, though do keep in mind a player with the number 14 is more likely to be picked than a player with the number 26.

The Black Eagles return for a second tournament, buoyed by their earlier successes in which they finished fifth in their qualifying group as an unranked side. The team were in contention to finish even higher, however several disappointing results including a draw against Regmotto and a final day loss to eventual qualifiers South Newlandia put paid to those hopes. Now buoyed by a relatively strong Campionato Esportiva showing, the team enters the new domestic season looking to progress towards another promising campaign on the world stage. However, a potential storm has been brewing at home, over the inclusion (or lack thereof) of female players in both the under-21 side, the domestic leagues and, most damningly, the National Team. How will the winds of this storm blow? Will the TFF, the bastions of conservatism of football in Tumbra, push hard to retain the status quo of male-only footballers in Tumbra, or will the winds of change blow this ship towards change?

Goalkeepers

It's all winds of change here in the goalkeeping department, as Louis Addison was first dropped for John Lennon midway through the Campionato Esportiva, and Hemmings seems to be leaning towards the Lakewood City keeper as his number 1 for the upcoming qualifying cycle. Addison's performances with Lakewood United somewhat dropped off throughout the previous domestic season, possibly leading to this change. Both Lennon and Addison play in the same way, though Lennon is particularly skilled with his feet, and will prefer to use them when available; passing out to the defenders is his preferred way of beginning attacks, while Addison prefers to launch balls into midfield. Both are competent shot-stoppers, and both are particularly acrobatic. Behind the two goalkeepers from the opposing sides of Lakewood, however, Mike Hancy, a relative newcomer, comes into the team; from unfancied side West Couno United, the goalkeeper looks set to try and make an impression. Debuting in a 1-2 victory against Frestovenia, Hancy looks set to try and enjoy the experience, really. The same could be said of Nick Barker, the Nantwich n.1; at just 24 years of age, there is already talk that he will succeed the battling two goalkeepers once their era is over. That being said, however, Barker is a more traditional shot-stopper than either Addison or Lennon.

Defenders

On the left wing, Ryan Hughes has locked down that left-back starting spot; the left has never looked more secure under his custodian-ship. Multiple attempts by Marcus Bradley, whose attacking output far outpaces his defensive one, Graham Lloyd, who got relegated with Port Marray and has since signed for recently-promoted Macarthur, and even Simon Hart — the starting left back through the WC87 cycle — have failed to dislodge the Lakewood City left back. Hughes is calm and composed on the ball, the defender preferring to pass along the wing or into the midfield to going on attacking runs. Simon Hart largely prefers to do the same, but his age means that his pace isn't as good as it used to be. He is, however, considered a somewhat better tackler than Hughes, and less likely to get booked. Michael Campbell comes in as third-choice, perhaps as a replacement for the error-prone Bradley; the more offensive option,

The centre defence sees six defenders come in for the qualifiers; no doubt the usual defensive combination of Henderson/Brown looks set to continue, with Brown donning the fabled armband; but rumours abound that this could be his last cycle; after all, he will be 33 at the end of these qualifiers. Harry Henderson typically plays as the clean-shorts, passing defender, while Johnny Brown plays as the no-nonsense, hard tackler; yet somehow clean enough to avoid getting booked, most of the time. Of their understudies — Ian Ashburn, Louis Paterson, Wayne Forrest and Douglas Moore — Ashburn and Moore are the passers, while Forrest and Paterson are the tacklers. The defence tends to play a high line; this, unfortunately, leads to them being caught out sometimes.

On the right, Russell White and Nigel Harris continue their roles as the custodians of the right-back spot; while both are experienced, LCFC right-back Chris Carter, often touted as a more attacking prospect, has entered the team as well; some suspect that Hemmings plans to gradually put Carter into the team, given his relative youth. Otherwise, White looks set to start; the more adventurous of the two wingbacks, White sometimes drifts into midfield to provide an additional man there in the offense.

Overall, the defenders have a high standard of passing and will look to begin attacks once they receive the ball; man-marking has largely been eschewed in favour of high-tempo pressing, dispossessing and pushing up field.

Midfield

The 3-man midfield Tumbra utilises is unique in the sense that there are three fixed roles; it does not matter who plays where; merely that players that fulfill these three roles should be on the pitch for the Tumbran brand of football to be particularly effective. These three roles are the dynamo, the pacesetter, and the visionary. The dynamo typically plays deepest, and is the most defensive of the three; his role is to run around the pitch, helping to press attackers and dispossess them, while simultaneously beginning attacks by receiving the ball and cycling possession by passing it to either the pacemaker, visionary or the two wingers. The role involves a high degree of stamina; running around the pitch for 90 minutes does require that, and they often rack up a huge amount of kilometres ran per game. The pacesetter sets the tempo of the game, speeding up or slowing down the game as they deem fit, recycling possession or moving it onwards, and going on runs to appear on the edge of the box. The visionary typically plays highest up the pitch; typically defending the least (but still expected to chip in whenever possible), their main job is to splay balls into the final third, beginning runs into the box or otherwise.

Of the eight midfielders included in the squad, it's fairly evident who plays as what; Vincent Hicks, Tom Stansfield and Andrew Fisher typically fill in for the dynamo; Craig McGrath, Michael Aitken and Alan Morgan typically play as pacesetter, and Adam Herlinger and Phil Cole as visionary. These alignments aren't fixed, though; though the dynamos typically play as dynamos (due to how physically intensive the role itself is), all eight midfielders are at least somewhat competent at each role. Do note, however, that Herlinger and Cole wouldn't be seen dead as the dynamo, nor would Aitken or Stansfield at visionary; they do have their limits as players. The hard press exists here, too; Herlinger may be a little more loath to press, given his age; but he will do it, if somewhat half-heartedly.

Wingers

Dan Galbraith no longer plays for this team; in his place, Robin Vaughn, the Lakewood City talisman and so far only person who has played in every one of Tumbra's 33 WCC-recognised matches so far. Vaughn plays as an inside forward, and has largely followed in the mold of the taciturn finisher that his national team mentor Galbraith taught him to play. Rarely media friendly, he prefers to let the football do the talking; but on the pitch Vaughn can be fiery, and his determination on pitch is second to none. His understudies, Dean Cresswood and Alex Anderson, will most likely not challenge him for the starting spot; while competent, Vaughn is on a whole different level to the two. Cresswood takes on a similar, inside-forward role; Anderson is the more traditional take-the-ball and run, hell for leather, to the corner post to swing it in.

On the left, it's a whole 'nother story; three young wingers battling it out for the starting winger spot. Neil Fraser, bright young lad of the future, electric in pace and in the dribble, is the archetypical pick up the ball and cross it in winger; Dylan van Heirolf, the more moody winger who decided to venture overseas to Tikariot, who prefers cutting in than crossing; and George Hilton, who perhaps is a mix of the two, yet also somehow is more unique in the sense that he tends to venture deeper than a traditional winger would. All three should receive a healthy dollop of playtime throughout the campaign; depending on the needs of the team at that particular moment.

Strikers

Philip Cohen rules the roost here; an immaculate finisher who is every bit a complete forward, he tries to dribble his way out of trouble and can finish from pretty much anywhere. Has a powerful shot. Does require a lot more service than his competitor, Marcus Sheldon, however, and can get pissed off if he's not shooting enough — others create chances for him, he finishes them off. It's worked so far for him and the team, though his recent drought does spark cause for worry. Sheldon typically drops back deeper to receive the ball, and is a more calmer presence, being able to create chances of his own volition. A more complete player than Cohen, arguably, the striker enjoys being involved in the build-up play as much as the finish. Meanwhile, Nick Riordan is everywhere. Blazing, electric, he proved with his 11 goals during the 50th Di Bradini Cup that he has potential; and rightly so, having jumped Bruce Nolan to the call-up for the national team. He has proved he can finish; the only problem is that he tends to do only that, and sometimes can neglect the finer parts of the game. More often than not, he's on target, however.

Tactical Set-Up

As evinced in the earlier ten paragraphs, the team sets up in a solid 4-3-3 formation; the alternate formation is a 4-2-3-1 with a double pivot. Set-pieces are taken by whomever volunteers, as Hemmings himself doesn't place much emphasis on them; however, Adam Herlinger's free kicks are always to be taken with a lot of danger, especially on the edge of the box. The emphasis is on fast buildup and attacks; counter-pressing in defence.

Left Corner Taker Neil Fraser
Right Corner Taker Robin Vaughn
Penalties Robin Vaughn
Direct FK Taker Adam Herlinger
Indirect FK Taker Neil Fraser
Most likely to foul/be booked Tom Stansfield
Most likely to shoot Nick Riordan
Most likely to score from close-range Philip Cohen
Most likely to score from long-range Robin Vaughn
Most likely to be fouled Robin Vaughn
Most likely to attempt the spectacular Marcus Sheldon

Home Stadia

The other nine teams lucky enough to be in the same group as Tumbra will be hosted in the Tumbran National Stadium in Straton; with a capacity of 100,000, at least 25,000 tickets will be allocated for visiting fans.

SAVIGLIANE NATIONAL TEAM ROSTER
WORLD CUP 88

The Tlanxball Revolution is, if not complete, on the rapid ascent. Despite a group stage exit both at the World Cup and AOCAF, and a relatively slow start to qualifying, Savigliane have again ridden a second-half surge to direct qualification. But after already managing three points at WC87, expectations will be sky-high for the Swans this cycle, with many fans hoping for a first-ever knockout round appearance. Some more information about Savigliane can be found in my first WCQ RP or my BoF/WCQ RP line. Essentially, the nation has been teleported to the NS world from an IRL equivalent and is still working through the fallout of that event.

NICKNAME: The Swans / The Red and Blues
MANAGER: TLANX-NULZK Hal - 63 (Qusmo)
After taking a sabbatical to reexamine their priorities in the wake of Qusmo's collapse, Tlanx-Nulzk has returned — & they like to attack as much as ever. They posted some of the highest-scoring seasons in the history of Pug Qusmyra. Under their stewardship, Qastyr – coming from a nation that had never before advanced beyond the first preliminary round of the Champions' Cup – not only got to the Champions' Cup 72 group stage, but rode the highest-scoring attack in the group stage out of all thirty-two teams in the tournament to win a group featuring Spartangrad, Brinemouth, & Tanrisal, en route to a shock quarterfinals run. As a result, they came from nowhere to be named a surprise selection for KarlingSport Galacticos Manager of the Season. Admittedly, their back line hasn't always been a strong suit, but they are remarkably efficient at getting their midfielders & forwards in sync for ruthless attacks. They were noted at their last post, as Saltstead's national team manager, for a sense of humour, memorably playing along with The Beet's request that they be set on fire. Perhaps that belies their competitive spirit, but make no mistake: they're friendly, jovial, & fun to be around off the pitch; on it, they're nothing short of ruthless. (description written by Qusmo)

ASST. MANAGER: Marco GIULIANI - 49
Recently sacked by Parakleion Firebirds after a dismal start to the season, Giuliani vacates the hole left by the departure of Natalia Rossi to Kelssek’s Kirkenes FC. Giuliani is a talented young manager best known for turning EDC Fossano, previously a yo-yo club who played a dour, defensive style, into an attack-minded midtable club within three years. An excellent man-manager and tactician (offensively), Giuliani is now looking to make the next step.

GOALKEEPING COACH: VANZA-JERAT Gep - 36 (Qusmo)
STYLE MOD: +3.5
FORMATION: 4-3-3
STADIUM: Stadio del Piero, Acqui Bollente or Stade National, Villeneuve
Captain - Bianca Fiore
Vice-Captains - Pietro Giraudo (first vice-captain), Amara Vatrican
Penalty Takers (in order of preference) - Amara Vatrican, Adrian Toscani, Thea Squarciafichi, Isabella Coste, Bertrand Marchetti
Free Kick Taker - Adrian Toscani
Corner-Kick Taker - Bertrand Marchetti (L), Adrian Toscani (R)
RP PERMISSIONS: Anything realistic is fine, TG/DM me for permission to godmod or otherwise do something unrealistic. No deaths; I determine the severity of injuries. If you're going to RP our match, please reference my players by name.
Kits: Made with love by uni·q · for the game that’s more than a game.
(OOC: thanks to Qusmo for making these!)

TACTICS
"TlanxBall", a dynamic 4-3-3 setup, promised - and immediately delivered - attractive results. In possession, the focus will be on retaining possession and moving the ball forward vertically, with Pietro Giraudo (formerly a center-back) redeployed as a deep-lying playmaker, and Vatrican and Toscani aggressively pushing forwards with the ball or using diagonal passes when they can. In build-up, Giraudo will drop back to form a triangle with the other center-backs, with Marchetti and Vitale drifting in and out to serve as wide options to carry the ball up the flanks if necessary.

The aim while in possession will be to rapidly shift the ball forward before using quick interchanges and dynamic movement in the attacking third of the pitch. To aid this, the inside forwards (and occasionally the two midfielders, especially Toscani, who will have more of a free role) will wide and into the half-spaces to stretch the opposition defense before playing back through the center or switching play to the now-exposed opposite flank.

Defensively, Savigliane will play a relatively high line, aiming to compress the opposition's build-up toward the sidelines and pressing immediately after losing the ball. The Swans will rely on the pace and tactical instincts of their back four to cover what is a pretty attack-minded "front six", especially since Marchetti and especially Vitale will both be pushing forward if necessary to maintain dynamism in possession.

Tlanx-Nulzk’s system has taken significant adjustment to work with the Swans - although, with a dominant qualifying record, the results are undeniable. The free-flowing nature of the attack, however, combined with the defenders’ relative lack of experience in the system against stronger opposition, means that the team may struggle to keep their opponents out of goal this cycle. However, they’ll more than make up for it with dynamic, fast-paced, free-flowing attacking play that could make them one of neutrals’ more favored teams in Chromatika and Cassadaigua.

Score a Goal - Thea Squarciafichi, Isabella Coste, Adrian Toscani
Score from Distance - Amara Vatrican, Adrian Toscani, Bertrand Marchetti
Assist a Goal - Isabella Coste, Adrian Toscani, Bertrand Marchetti

RETIRED NUMBERS

#20 - Raphaël ROVIRA - FW
#25 - Sofia PLAISANCE - FW

While Savigliane does not traditionally retire numbers, the loss of two national team players to the event that brought Savigliane into the NSS dimension has been commemorated by suspending usage of their numbers until further notice.

Note: below, bolded players represent starters, italicized players represent backups, and underlined players represent reserves.

GOALKEEPERS

#23 - Nicodemo D’AMBROSIO - 27 - AFC Mayville (EUR)
#01 - Camillo NOTARI - 35 - AC Acqui Bollente
#12 - Nicolas DuCASSE - 27 - Kingston FC (QUE)

D’Ambrosio has been one of the breakout stars of post-Event Savigliane, going from backup to Golden Glove winner to Mayville starter and NT star. He’s still inexperienced, but an incredibly athletic shot-stopper with inconsistent but strong distribution. Former starter Notari is a commanding aerial presence, a penalty-kick specialist, and a solid all-around shot-stopper. If he does have a weakness, it’s that he’s a little shaky with distribution, although this has generally been covered by the center-backs’ abilities on the ball. Finally, recently-Quebecois DuCasse is a much stronger and more consistent distributor, although his highs aren’t quite as high as D’Ambrosio, and he’s a relatively weak shot-stopper at this level.

DEFENDERS

#04 - LB - Bertrand MARCHETTI - 30 - Freeport United (FPT)
#02 - CB - Adélaïde GARCIA - 27 - KT Moreazerua (AUD)
#03 - CB - Chiara BLANCO - 24 - Aries Chariots (NPH)
#11 - RB/RM - Giovanna VITALE - 28 - Dynamo Sjoedrhavn (SVJ)

#26 - LB - Serena LAMONTAGNE - 25 - Chatswood (NPH)
#13 - CB/RB - Rémy LeCLERC - 24 - Stade-Ferre Trinité
#24 - CB/CDM - Gianmarco DUTTO - 25 - FK Metropola Borograd (STL)
#34 - LB/RB - Margherita ROMANO - 28 - Sporting Jaglan (SRS)

Marchetti may not be the flashiest player on the team, but his endurance, pace, and keen sense of positioning make him absolutely essential to Savigliane’s tactical setup. An excellent passer, Marchetti is capable of making key offensive contributions (although he doesn’t push up as zealously as his counterpart, Vitale), but seemingly is always able to get back in time to disrupt counterattacks or fall back on defense. Blanco, replacing the aging fan favorite Efisio Moreau, will serve as the brawn to Giraudo’s brain - quick, aerially adept, and hard-working, she was one of Lega 2's best-kept secrets until her move abroad. Meanwhile, Garcia is the quickest of the back line, and the one in the highest demand this transfer window before a big-money move to Mozi - while still occasionally prone to mistakes while on the ball, her athleticism and man-marking capabilities make her a valuable, versatile asset to the national team. Finally, Vitale is more explosive than the rest of the fullbacks, and her crossing and shooting ability make her more of a direct threat when attacking. A converted winger, she’s not particularly good tracking back, although her athleticism gets her some of the way there. She's capable of playing in a number of different positions on the right flank, and will be more at home in this newly attack-minded formation.

Lamontagne, who unexpectedly became one of Savigliane’s most-sought-after players in the most recent transfer window, is known for her deceptive athleticism, coolness under pressure, tactical intelligence, and versatility. Young LeClerc is sharp, athletic, and versatile (serving as both a center-back and right-back for Trinité), but not polished enough with the ball to earn a starting spot yet. Gianmarco Dutto is a strong but slow-footed center-back whose biggest strength is his ability to distribute from the back - it’s early, for sure, but he’s already being tipped as a potential successor to ball-playing center-back Pietro Giraudo. The versatile Romano is a fiery leader known for her persistence, defensive workrate, and poise with the ball, although she’s much less of an attacking threat than Marchetti on the left or Vitale on the right.

MIDFIELDERS

#06 - CM - Amara VATRICAN - 31 - AC Acqui Bolente
#05 - CDM/CB - Pietro GIRAUDO - 34 - AC Acqui Bollente
#10 - CM/AM - Adrian TOSCANI - 25 - Cazadores Cathair (AUD)

#08 - CM - Bianca FIORE - 32 - Free Agent
#16 - CDM - Gabriel BUVALELLI - 21 - AS Marcadia (AUD)
#29 - CM/AM - Alessandro BELLA - 23 - Mazinaw Vanorian (KSK)

Giraudo is the real gem in a very skilled trio, with enough skill to be redeployed by this new system as a deep-lying playmaker. His skill on the ball and ability to make accurate long passes makes him a vital cog in Savigliane’s offense. He’s also a solid defender in his own right - although not particularly athletic, his positioning and tactical acumen are remarkable. Vatrican is a dynamic, box-to-box midfielder, with her excellent dribbling enabling her to make driving runs toward the box, and her accurate - if not particularly creative - passing helping the team advance up the pitch. Toscani is a technically gifted young midfielder who, despite not being particularly athletic, has already impressed in his short time at Porto Vecchio, earning himself a transfer to Caza in the process. He’s capable of playing as a center-midfielder, an attacking-midfielder, or, thanks to his surprisingly good crossing ability, on the wing.

Four years ago, Fiore was the bedrock of the Swans, combining brilliant leadership ability with omnipresent box-to-box play. But Savigliane's greatest-ever player has had a rough few years, and has rejoined Savigliane's new reality nowhere near match fitness. Her presence on the team is likely going to be more symbolic than anything, but you never know when she might have a bit of magic left in her. Buvalelli unexpectedly broke into Alessandro Juliana’s first team in Audioslavia’s National League, and although temperamental, his deep-lying playmaking could make him Pietro Giraudo’s heir apparent at the senior level. Bella, the young player of the year in Savigliane, is known for his creativity and flair with the ball, and surprisingly high workrate (somewhat compensating for his lack of athleticism) without it.

FORWARDS

#07 - LW/SS - Isabella COSTE - 28 - Dury FC (PFA)
#18 - ST - Thea SQUARCIAFICHI - 24 - 1830 Cathair (AUD)
#30 - RW/CAM - Calliope MONTEVECCHI - 28 - Eivora Athletic (TKT)

#27 - LW/ST - Anne-Marie ROUX - 23 - FC Novonaya (KSK)
#21 - FW - Michael DURAND - 34 - Stade-Ferre Trinité
#22 - LW/RW - Zoë BARTHELEMY - 27 - Levis Athletic (QUE)

Squarciafichi, while still unpolished, is a predatory finisher. Although a solid dribbler, her best runs are off the ball, and her passing is definitely a work in progress. Coste is the opposite - end product and strength are the only things she lacks, while her speed and dribbling ability make her a constant threat to set up her teammates. Montevecchi is a surprisingly good playmaker for a winger, and has flirted with an attacking-midfield role. Nevertheless, her biggest asset is her pace and ability to cut inside into dangerous positions, while her weakness is her inability to contribute on the defensive end.

Roux is an incredible dribbler with sometimes inaccurate but sometimes incredible passing ability and a left foot that produces magical free-kicks and long-range shots. She's still raw but could be one of Savigliane's Next Big Things. Durand is more of a support striker, adept at both scoring and creating, and most at home in a more fluid front three. Barthelemy is a natural
winger, although she’s ambidextrous and versatile enough to play on either flank. Her greatest assets are her energy, pace, and dribbling, but she’s a little lacking in end product.

Qualifying Roster:
SAVIGLIANE NATIONAL TEAM ROSTER
WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS 88

Savigliane’s international record in this new dimension was off to an incredibly rough start, but a new cycle and a new manager, ex-Galactico Tlanx-Nulzk (who just took home a second Galactico Manager of the Cycle award for his efforts with Savigliane), unexpectedly brought them to the promised land in just their second cycle. Now, after a victory over Starblaydia at the World Cup and a strong youth-team showing at the AOCAF, things are looking up for the Swans - but will they be able to sustain their success? Some more information about Savigliane can be found in my first WCQ RP or my BoF/WCQ RP line. Essentially, the nation has been teleported to the NS world from an IRL equivalent and is still working through the fallout of that event.

NICKNAME: The Swans / The Red and Blues
MANAGER: TLANX-NULZK Hal - 62 (Qusmo)

ASST. MANAGER: Marco GIULIANI - 48

However, they’ll more than make up for it with dynamic, fast-paced, free-flowing attacking play that could make them one of neutrals’ more favored teams in the qualifyinng group.

RETIRED NUMBERS

#20 - Raphael ROVIRA - FW
#25 - Sofia PLAISANCE - FW

While Savigliane does not traditionally retire numbers, the loss of three national team players to the event that brought Savigliane into the NSS dimension has been commemorated by suspending usage of their numbers until further notice. Especially sacrosanct is Bianca Fiore's #8 - the former captain and bedrock of the Swans, Fiore brought Savigliane back to the World Cup until her abrupt disappearance, and she is presumed stranded or dead.

Note: below, bolded players represent starters, italicized players represent backups, and underlined players represent reserves.

GOALKEEPERS

#23 - Nicodemo D’AMBROSIO - 26 - AFC Mayville (EUR)
#01 - Camillo NOTARI - 34 - AC Acqui Bollente
#12 - Nicolas DuCASSE - 26 - Kingston FC (QUE)

#34 - Charlotte FASANO - 29 - Gallant Cross (BRE)

D’Ambrosio has been one of the breakout stars of post-Event Savigliane, going from backup to Golden Glove winner to Mayville starter and NT star. He’s still inexperienced, but an incredibly athletic shot-stopper with inconsistent but strong distribution. Former starter Notari is a commanding aerial presence, a penalty-kick specialist, and a solid all-around shot-stopper. If he does have a weakness, it’s that he’s a little shaky with distribution, although this has generally been covered by the center-backs’ abilities on the ball. Meanwhile, recently-Quebecois DuCasse is a much stronger and more consistent distributor, although his highs aren’t quite as high as D’Ambrosio, and he’s a relatively weak shot-stopper at this level. Finally, Fasano is a strong aerial presence and shot-stopper whose main strength his her agility, although she's not much of a distributor.

DEFENDERS

#14 - CB - Efisio MOREAU - 31 - Veriasod Lakers FC (TKT)
#55 - RB - Nicoletta SAUVAGEON - 22 - Knetyohai (CMT)

Florenzi is a quick, diminutive wingback with a knack for crossing, who lies somewhat between the defensive Romano and the kamikaze Vitale on the wingback scale. Onio is a lithe, classy defender who is very strong with the ball - but possibly not physical enough for certain matchups. The muscular veteran Moreau’s aerial presence and strength are both excellent, although he’s more well-rounded than one might expect, and a consummate professional on and off the field. Sauvageon, somewhat similarly to Giovanna Vitale, is a high-flying, aggressive fullback who needs to work on her defensive discipline in Chromatika - but serves as a useful “break in case of emergency” if Savigliane is trailing.

MIDFIELDERS

#06 - CM - Amara VATRICAN - 30 - AC Acqui Bolente
#05 - CDM/CB - Pietro GIRAUDO - 33 - AC Acqui Bollente
#10 - CM/AM - Adrian TOSCANI - 24 - Cazadores Cathair (AUD)

#17 - CM - Nathaniel AUVERGNE - 23 - Hofvinger (GRF)
#16 - CDM - Gabriel BUVALELLI - 20 - AS Marcadia (AUD)
#29 - CM/AM - Alessandro BELLA - 22 - Mazinaw Vanorian (KSK)

#33 - AM - Stella BOISBOUVIER - 26 - Parakleion Firebirds (TKT)
#28 - CM - Óceane CHASTAIN - 21 - La Nueva Avenida (FFD)
#41 - CM - Leo CASTAGNE - 23 - Carsby (EUR)
#80 - CM - Sébastien PETIT - 31 - CSKA Quebec (QUE)

Giraudo is the real gem in a very skilled trio of defenders, with enough skill to be redeployed by this new system as a deep-lying playmaker. He’s capable of playing as a center-midfielder, an attacking-midfielder, or, thanks to his surprisingly good crossing ability, on the wing.

Auvergne, who’s excelled at Hofvinger this season, is a young talent whose creativity and physicality make him an incredible prospect despite his lack of speed.

Boisbouvier provides a different tactical option in midfield - her pace and energy make her well-suited to be a mezzala of sorts, but her excellent passing and tactical nous can also see her slot into a deeper-lying role. Chastain is unpolished, often lacks focus, and is prone to fouling, but genuinely one of Savigliane's best when she's on, with the kind of passing vision, defensive positioning, and athleticism that make us reach for the Bianca Fiore comparisons. Farfadillis may have been too ambitious of a step for her, but she could have star potential. Castagne’s breakout season was one reason why Stade-Ferre won their first league title in decades, as the hometown hero impressed with his intelligence, physicality, tactical versatility, and leadership ability that belied his young age. Petit is a hard-working box-to-box midfielder on the field, known for his versatility and energy. Off the field, he doesn’t have the best of reputations, which is probably why he didn’t originally make the final cut despite his talent.

She's still raw but could be one of Savigliane's Next Big Things.Rinaldi, although injury-prone, became one of AC Acqui Bollente’s most important players before his move abroad - not an easy feat on a team with three national team starters - due to his aerial prowess and consistently confident finishing in the penalty box. Barthelemy is more of a natural winger, although she’s ambidextrous and versatile enough to play on either wing. Her greatest assets are her energy, pace, and dribbling, but she’s a little lacking in end product.

Gastaldo is a deadly passer and crosser who uses her speed to hug the touchline and burst past defenders. Led now-relegated Porto Vecchio in assists last season despite her young age before moving to the Licentian Isles. Durand is more of a support striker, adept at both scoring and creating, and most at home in a more fluid front three. Collomb, known for a methodical, deliberate style of play, is a strong passer and finisher most at home setting up teammates.

THE UNITED REPUBLICS OF YUEZHOU - NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM
月州联合共和国 - 国际足球队
Image
Badge and kits designed by Txakhaxi's Tahuatxi Storefront.

It’s a new dawn for Yuezhou, and that extends to the national team as well. At home, a significantly weakened federal republic has opened its doors to the Rushmori community (or, to more cynically-minded Yueren, exploitative foreign corporations). But at historic Yübao stadium, sophomore manager Lu Jialan put together a team that inexplicably qualified for the World Cup, beating historic nations such as Equestrian States, New Lusitania, and Abanhfleft on their way to doing so. Now, the Dragons could be entering a new age, free from the burdens of their shaky past. Win or lose, WC88 will always be one to remember.

Manager: Lu Jialan
Assistant Manager: None [left vacant since the Alba and Cymru Incident]
Nickname: The Red Dragons
Formation: 3-4-2-1
Style Modifier: -2.75
First-Choice Lineup
RP Permissions: no killing/serious injuries, TG or DM before doing anything unrealistic, everything else is fine. If you're planning on RPing the match, I would prefer you reference my players by name in said RP.
Tactics:
Yuan Zilai, the previous coach of the national team, used an aggressive midfield press and a dynamic counterattack to stun much more talented opposition. However, it was clear by the end of the tenure that the wheels had come off a bit, especially with the press tending to lead to sloppy defending and tired legs late in matches. There were also some concerns with the attacking setup, with Liu Huiying and Gu Zhalei looking out of place on the wings, and Huang Shedong isolated upfront.

Former Dynamo Dalian and Beian City manager Lu Jialan’s tactics are largely responding to these weaknesses. On the attacking end of things, Liu Huiying has been moved centrally, and will frequently push up to form a strike partnership with Huang Shedong. Wen Xiaohui will also tuck in and spray passes from a more central position, although she’ll have a freer role that allows her to drift wide and find spaces between the lines. The focus in open play will be to play more centrally and dynamically, shifting play between the two sides of the pitch when needed. Lu relies on his fullbacks-turned-wingbacks for width, with Diadora Reeve and Kang Enlai being given more license to push up and provide a wide threat, although Yuezhou will never have the personnel to play many crosses in.

Without the ball, Lu Jialan sets his team up in a position to counterattack. Immediately after losing the ball, Yuezhou will attempt to defend from the front, trying to win it back. However, unlike Yuan Zilai’s setup, they will not press aggressively in midfield, instead dropping back into a 5-4-1 medium block. The center-backs will play very conservatively, although Zhu will have more license to bomb forwards on the counter, and the midfield pivot (especially Yang, who can make the defense a six-man back line at times) also frequently sits back. The aim will be to control the center of the pitch and force attacks into wide areas, while maintaining space up front to surge forward into a counterattack if need be.

STARTERS

#01 - GK - LU Qiang (陆蔷) (f) - 31 - Guerrilla Cathair (AUD)
From an actual guerrilla in the Yue Civil War to Guerrilla Cathair, Lu Qiang is a fighter above all else. On the pitch, she’s more modern, better at playing the ball from the back, but undoubtedly worse at actually stopping the ball from going into the net.
#03 - LCB - REN Fang (任方) - 33 - Hamiltonian Cambria (KSK)
A strong, disciplined defender who's at his best in the air. Athletic and very versatile, Ren’s only weakness is that he tends to just hoof it whenever he wins a ball back.
#05 - CB - HAN Jian (C) (韩建) - 35 - Letson Town (ETN)
Cautious and disciplined, the experienced Han Jian is the de facto leader of the backline for both club and country - although this cycle could be his swan song. Incredibly solid, but like Ren, has little skill on the ball.
#15 - RCB/RB - ZHU Aiguo (朱爱国) - 29 - Iturributa United (ASG)
An aggressive, versatile defender who likes to win balls and push forward with them. A center-back by trade, Zhu has unexpectedly become Yuezhou's starting right-back - his emergence at the position has earned him a transfer to Astograth as well as his starting spot.
#02 - LB - KANG Enlai (康恩来) - 30 - Corvette Maulers (NPH)
The most ambitious of the full-backs on the roster, Kang is the best source of width on the team (although that probably says more about the team than it does about Kang). Strong athleticism and crossing ability, although he is a bit one-dimensional on the attack.
#07 - CDM - YANG Tao (杨道) - 30 - Fagli Cinquanta (SOR)
Energetic but not particularly skilled, Yang will be tasked with pressing aggressively, winning balls back before passing them to someone more creative, and kicking opponents to stop attacks.
#08 - CM/AM - LI Jing (李精) - 29 - Steinaux (GRF)
Li Jing is very quick and excels on the counterattack as a creative or goalscoring threat. Has enjoyed increased praise lately for his exploits in Graintfjall due to the beginning of normalization in relations between the two countries.
#13 - RB - Diadora REEVE (f) (利朵拉) - 26 - North Sabrefell (NPH)
Diadora Reeve is an athletic, relatively attack-minded fullback who provides an interesting tactical option for Yuezhou in place of Zhu Aiguo. We think she had a Yue grandfather or something, which is why she's turned up on the Yue national team despite everyone previously thinking she was Nepharim.
#10 - CAM/SS - LIU Huiying (f) (刘辉映) - 25 - AFC Corvistone (NPH)
Liu’s speed and devastating passing ability make her one to watch with every counterattack. Her high workrate, even on the defensive end, should theoretically make her a good candidate to slot into attacking-midfield, where she now plays at the club level as well in the Zenith.
#18 - AM - WEN Xiaohui (f) (文小辉) - 26 - CASK Thorsborg (SVJ)
Wen Xiaohui, the niece of controversial star midfielder Wen Xiaoli, has rapidly developed from Yuezhou’s next big thing to a star in her own right. She’s not a great tactical fit for Lu Jialan’s style, but her pace and playmaking more than merit her inclusion in the first-choice starting eleven, and her breakout WCQ87 campaign was a rare bright spot in an otherwise miserable qualifiers.
#09 - ST - HUANG Shedong (黄舍东) - 29 - Stahlberg Rovers (NPH)
While not particularly good at hold-up play or in the air, Huang's blazing speed and technique mean he excels at exploiting gaps in the opponents' defense with his dribbling and short passes. A strong finisher, but relatively unproven leading a line by himself.

SUBSTITUTES

#12 - GK - WANG Bo - 30 - Wahrsager Der Berg (ZRH)
A polished shot-stopper with strong leadership abilities who was rewarded for his efforts with a Golden Gloves award two years ago. Earned a big-money (by Yue standards, at least) move to Esportiva last transfer window.
#23 - GK - GUO Yanhong - 28 - Dhun Lagarr FC (TKT)
A modern sweeper-keeper and competent shot-stopper who is aggressive to a fault, but who had a strong enough season in Tikariot to earn a call-up.
#14 - LB - JIAWEI Chuan (f) - 26 - Urrhediao (CMT)
A quick, crafty full-back (or wing-back, or even winger if Yuezhou are really parking the bus) whose biggest weakness is a propensity to get forced off the ball.
#27 - CB - LI Jianguo - 22 - FC Einheit Marnau (STL)
Despite his young age, Li is incredible on the ball, at his best in a three-man defense where he can make surging runs and spray accurate long-range passes with either foot. The physicality isn't quite there though, and he's already realized Yuezhou is not the best cultural fit for his style of play.
#16 - RCB - YUAN Mingrong - 25 - Ararat (MYT)
An intelligent, cultured young center-back who's solid but still a bit raw with the ball. Showed enough promise in Mytanija as the best defender in an admittedly underwhelming Ararat defense to earn a shot, although that might say more about Yuezhou’s center-back depth than anything else.
#06 - CB/CDM - GUO Xiawei - 26 - Ming (CMT)
Formerly a makeshift libero in a back three, Guo Xiawei has often been redeployed as a defensive midfielder. One of the first of his generation of Yue players to sign abroad, for since-relegated Tanques AOE of the Ko-orenite Top League, Guo has flashes of brilliance with the ball and is very good at reading and intercepting passes, but tends to make unforced errors on defense too often to be trusted unless in a back three.
#11 - CM - CHEN Xiwei (陈席位) - 33 - Bikarsh (PFA)
Chen Xiwei’s evolution from an energetic but unskilled midfielder to a dominant playmaker and Poafmersia’s player of the year has come out of nowhere and made him a valuable tactical option for Lu Jialan. Chen has retained his energy and his aggressiveness in the pivot, while adding a new dimension to his passing that helped him take the league by storm with Bikarsh.
#19 - CDM/CM - WAN Sheping - 22 - Wirr Tsi (CMT)
An old-school, defensive-minded midfielder who's surprisingly good in the air despite being 5'8". Earned a move to countryman Zhaxi Nanlei’s Wirr Tsi squad last transfer window, and is rapidly becoming one of the better young players in the Red League.
#17 - CM - LI Keqiang - 29 - Vantanoch FC (TKT)
An absolute wall of muscle, Li Keqiang's combination of pace and physicality make him a tough player to get past. Has proven surprisingly effective as a goal-scorer in Tikariot.
#20 - AM - TAO Beiliang - 26 - Korsbach (GRF)
A relentless source of energy, aggression, and creativity, Tao is still pretty inconsistent, but is a great student of the game and could be starting for the Red Dragons in a few years.
#21 - ST - JI Weibo - 22 - Valley Wanderers (SNL)
While selfish to a fault and not the easiest personality to work with, Ji Weibo has laid waste to South Newlandia to the tune of 17 goals in 22 matches. A pure poacher who’s posed an increased long-range threat as of lately, Ji isn’t much of a team player but can arguably lead a line by himself better than the less physical Huang can, and could be a real option off the bench.
#22 - ST/RW - LUO Dan - 26 - Coquitlam United (KSK)
A more mobile forward who can deputize capably on either wing or as an attacking midfielder if Yuezhou are chasing goals, Luo is a dangerous scorer known for his quick-burst runs behind the defense. Can be a little selfish at times.

[align=center]THE UNITED REPUBLICS OF YUEZHOU - NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM
月州联合共和国 - 国际足球队
Image
Badge designed by Txakhaxi's Tahuatxi Storefront.

It’s a new dawn for Yuezhou, and that extends to the national team as well. At home, a significantly weakened federal republic has opened its doors to the Rushmori community (or, to more cynically-minded Yueren, exploitative foreign corporations). On the national team, Lu Jialan has finally been given a chance to impose his own style on the new-look Red Dragons, as after an exciting WCQ86 and Copa Rushmori quarterfinals run, WCQ87 saw the influential Yuan Zilai finally sacked by the FA. Lu Jialan’s tenure has seen Yuezhou return to their usual level of losing in the first knockout round in the Cup of Harmony and Copa Rushmori, but there’s hope that as his players develop familiarity with a new 3-4-2-1 setup, the next qualifying campaign will see improvement.

Home Stadium: either Yübao, Nangang (cap. 48,000) or The Meridian, Jiangdong (cap. 46,000); feel free to choose one if not previously specified.

The center-backs will play very conservatively, although Zhu will have more license to bomb forwards on the counter, and the midfield pivot (especially Guo, who can make the defense a six-man back line at times) also frequently sits back. The aim will be to control the center of the pitch and force attacks into wide areas, while maintaining space up front to surge forward into a counterattack if need be.

STARTERS

#01 - GK - LU Qiang (陆蔷) (f) - 30 - Guerrilla Cathair (AUD)
From an actual guerrilla in the Yue Civil War to Guerrilla Cathair, Lu Qiang is a fighter above all else. On the pitch, she’s more modern, better at playing the ball from the back, but undoubtedly worse at actually stopping the ball from going into the net.
#03 - LCB - REN Fang (任方) - 32 - Hamiltonian Cambria (KSK)
A strong, disciplined defender who's at his best in the air. Athletic and very versatile, Ren’s only weakness is that he tends to just hoof it whenever he wins a ball back.
#05 - CB - HAN Jian (C) (韩建) - 34 - Letson Town (ETN)
Cautious and disciplined, the experienced Han Jian is the de facto leader of the backline for both club and country - although this cycle could be his swan song. Incredibly solid, but like Ren, has little skill on the ball.
#15 - RCB/RB - ZHU Aiguo (朱爱国) - 28 - Iturributa United (ASG)
An aggressive, versatile defender who likes to win balls and push forward with them. A center-back by trade, Zhu has unexpectedly become Yuezhou's starting right-back - his emergence at the position has earned him a transfer to Astograth as well as his starting spot.
#02 - LB - KANG Enlai (康恩来) - 29 - Corvette Maulers (NPH)
The most ambitious of the full-backs on the roster, Kang is the best source of width on the team (although that probably says more about the team than it does about Kang). Strong athleticism and crossing ability, although he is a bit one-dimensional on the attack.
#07 - CDM - YANG Tao (杨道) - 29 - Fagli Cinquanta (SOR)
Energetic but not particularly skilled, Yang will be tasked with pressing aggressively, winning balls back before passing them to someone more creative, and kicking opponents to stop attacks.
#11 - CM - CHEN Xiwei (陈席位) - 32 - Bikarsh (PFA)
Chen Xiwei’s evolution from an energetic but unskilled midfielder to a dominant playmaker and Poafmersia’s player of the year has come out of nowhere and won him back a starting spot. Chen has retained his energy and his aggressiveness in the pivot, while adding a new dimension to his passing that helped him take the league by storm with Bikarsh.
#13 - RB - Diadora REEVE (f) (利朵拉) - 25 - North Sabrefell (NPH)
Diadora Reeve is an athletic, relatively attack-minded fullback who provides an interesting tactical option for Yuezhou in place of Zhu Aiguo. We think she had a Yue grandfather or something, which is why she's turned up on the Yue national team despite everyone previously thinking she was Nepharim.
#10 - CAM/SS - LIU Huiying (f) (刘辉映) - 24 - AFC Corvistone (NPH)
Liu’s speed and devastating passing ability make her one to watch with every counterattack. Her high workrate, even on the defensive end, should theoretically make her a good candidate to slot into attacking-midfield, where she now plays at the club level as well in the Zenith.
#18 - AM - WEN Xiaohui (f) (文小辉) - 25 - CASK Thorsborg (SVJ)
Wen Xiaohui, the niece of controversial star midfielder Wen Xiaoli, has rapidly developed from Yuezhou’s next big thing to a star in her own right. She’s not a great tactical fit for Lu Jialan’s style, but her pace and playmaking more than merit her inclusion in the first-choice starting eleven, and her breakout WCQ87 campaign was a rare bright spot in an otherwise miserable qualifiers.
#09 - ST - HUANG Shedong (黄舍东) - 28 - Stahlberg Rovers (NPH)
While not particularly good at hold-up play or in the air, Huang's blazing speed and technique mean he excels at exploiting gaps in the opponents' defense with his dribbling and short passes. A strong finisher, but relatively unproven leading a line by himself.

SUBSTITUTES

#12 - GK - WANG Bo - 29 - Wahrsager Der Berg (ZRH)
A polished shot-stopper with strong leadership abilities who was rewarded for his efforts with a Golden Gloves award two years ago. Earned a big-money (by Yue standards, at least) move to Esportiva last transfer window.
#23 - GK - GUO Yanhong - 27 - Dhun Lagarr FC (TKT)
A modern sweeper-keeper and competent shot-stopper who is aggressive to a fault, but who had a strong enough season in Tikariot to earn a call-up.
#14 - LB - JIAWEI Chuan (f) - 25 - Urrhediao (CMT)
A quick, crafty full-back (or wing-back, or even winger if Yuezhou are really parking the bus) whose biggest weakness is a propensity to get forced off the ball.
#25 - LCB - YAO Wenyan - 26 - Olympic Nangang
A left-footed center-back who can play left-back in a pinch (for instance, if Lu Jialan really wants to park the bus), Yao is a quick, intelligent defender capable of making surging runs into midfield.
#16 - RCB - YUAN Mingrong - 24 - Ararat (MYT)
An intelligent, cultured young center-back who's solid but still a bit raw with the ball. Showed enough promise in Mytanija as the best defender in an admittedly underwhelming Ararat defense to earn a shot, although that might say more about Yuezhou’s center-back depth than anything else.
#06 - CB/CDM - GUO Xiawei - 25 - Ming (CMT)
Formerly a makeshift libero in a back three, Guo Xiawei has often been redeployed as a defensive midfielder. One of the first of his generation of Yue players to sign abroad, for since-relegated Tanques AOE of the Ko-orenite Top League, Guo has flashes of brilliance with the ball and is very good at reading and intercepting passes, but tends to make unforced errors on defense too often to be trusted unless in a back three.
#08 - CM/AM - LI Jing - 28 - Steinaux (GRF)
Li Jing is very quick and excels on the counterattack as a creative or goalscoring threat. Has enjoyed increased praise lately for his exploits in Graintfjall due to the beginning of normalization in relations between the two countries.
#19 - CDM/CM - WAN Sheping - 21 - Wirr Tsi (CMT)
An old-school, defensive-minded midfielder who's surprisingly good in the air despite being 5'8". Earned a move to countryman Zhaxi Nanlei’s Wirr Tsi squad last transfer window, and is rapidly becoming one of the better young players in the Red League.
#17 - CM - LI Keqiang - 28 - Vantanoch FC (TKT)
An absolute wall of muscle, Li Keqiang's combination of pace and physicality make him a tough player to get past. Has proven surprisingly effective as a goal-scorer in Tikariot.
#20 - AM - TAO Beiliang - 25 - Korsbach (GRF)
A relentless source of energy, aggression, and creativity, Tao is still pretty inconsistent, but is a great student of the game and could be starting for the Red Dragons in a few years.
#21 - ST - JI Weibo - 21 - Valley Wanderers (SNL)
While selfish to a fault and not the easiest personality to work with, Ji Weibo has laid waste to South Newlandia to the tune of 17 goals in 22 matches. A pure poacher who’s posed an increased long-range threat as of lately, Ji isn’t much of a team player but can arguably lead a line by himself better than the less physical Huang can, and could be a real option off the bench.
#22 - ST/RW - LUO Dan - 25 - Coquitlam United (KSK)
A more mobile forward who can deputize capably on either wing or as an attacking midfielder if Yuezhou are chasing goals, Luo is a dangerous scorer known for his quick-burst runs behind the defense. Can be a little selfish at times.

RESERVES
#34 - GK - ZHAO Yong - 28 - East Railway (ASG)
Not the most athletic of shot-stoppers, but a cool, commanding leader of defenses who can grab anything out of the air.
#24 - LB - LU Lanying (f) - 21 - Rutland Dockside (CDG)
A quick, athletic left-back, Lu is strong when driving forwards and tracking back but could work on her crossing.
#26 - CB - SHI Meilin (f) - 24 - Rutland FC (CDG)
A physical center-back and excellent aerial presence, although she’s relatively raw for her age due to Yuezhou’s lack of a strong female footballing infrastructure.
#27 - CB - LI Jianguo - 21 - FC Einheit Marnau (STL)
Despite his young age, Li is incredible on the ball, at his best in a three-man defense where he can make surging runs and spray accurate long-range passes with either foot. The physicality isn't quite there though, and he's already realized Yuezhou is not the best cultural fit for his style of play.
#28 - RB - LAU Sifong - 26 - Altendalur (RB)
After successfully getting as far away from his hometown as humanly possible during the Civil War, Lau has flourished with Altendalur, combining an excellent sense of positioning with a strong right boot.
#29 - CM - PAN Xilei (f) - 22 - La Querida (FFD)
An intelligent player whose greatest strengths are her workrate and physicality. A recent request for more playing time with Mâ Alâmëómë was rewarded with a loan deal straight to hell.
#30 - CDM/CM - FANG Yuhui (f) - 23 - North Granby (CDG)
Not the most physically imposing, but seemingly endless stamina and excellent positioning mean she shows up almost everywhere on the pitch when needed to make a tackle. Not great offensively.
#31 - CM/LAM - HUANG Gong - 24 - SC Jiangdong
A strong, pacy midfielder at his best driving forwards or picking out progressive passes. Somewhat prone to being dragged out of position due to his lack of discipline, although this weakness hasn’t been exploited in the Yue Super! League
#32 - RAM/RWB - MAO Aiguo - 21 - TSV Marzig (STL)
A quick, tricky winger who moves like the ball's glued to his feet, both because he's an excellent dribbler and because he never passes the ball. Lots of potential if his mindset can be changed, especially now that he’s moved to a Republikaliga side known for its development capabilities.
#33 - SS/CAM - LUO Chuan (f) - 20 - Mursbayley College (ZWZ)
An agile, technically adept attacking midfielder at her best when distributing to others. Tends to get bullied off the ball, though.
#36 - RAM/ST - ZHENG Yuanjun (f) - 22 - Galactica (PAS)
An intelligent, versatile attacker, Zheng is much more skilled as a playmaker than as a scorer, although her ability to find space with her runs has still gotten her a decent scoring record.

Silvedania, the majestic nation.
NS Stats are mostly accurate except for a few things, like this nation is capitalist and the death penalty isn't in effect

News:All trade with Crabaiaia and Pikala has stopped as diplomats meet in Trenaka. Silvedanians are confused by Quentin Tarantulatino's new film, Seasonal Snackbox(This is a Bojack Horseman reference.) Weird song goes viral for making no sense.

The Valentian International Football Association

The Valentians are back again, that is without a doubt. They had a bit of a shaky start in Baptism of Fire 72, followed by World Cup 85, but they are always the ones to take it in stride and not to get mad about it. Some might say that this was easy for them considering there were little to no stakes involved for them - no managers yelling at them, no budget shortages, and many other impossibilities of a football club that is made moot in Valentine Z's world of 2090. The Valentians were here to have fun first and foremost, though they certainly do not mind if a little luck comes their way and they won multiple games. After all, Anastasia recently won the Championship of NSSCRA 10, while Adriana had a great start on the first two Feature Races of WGP2 4. Will the Valentians get the same amount of luck that they were getting before? Will World Cup 88 be something that breaks the mold as a newbie team, or will they fell into mediocrity, or will they average out and leave lukewarm? Only time will tell, alongside the prowess of the Valentians.

Captain/Manager of the Team

Valentijn “De Sierlijke en Vrij Valkyrie General ov Valentine Z” Samantha Maxwell Delta Weston Stijn Angelus Tracey Mitchell Tristian Marnix Basilisk Lewis Hyatt X. Constantine Sein Lin Zaw Naing. Will be controlling a synthetic body to account for the fact that she is 117 meters tall, and she will not be joining the field for the most parts. Watches from the distance, she keeps a cool head for the most parts and ensures that her team simply has all the needs taken care of instead of simply winning over and over again. Though for this time, the Valentians are bringing in more offensive strategies to the table, while still making sure that their defensives are taken care of.

Composition of the Valentian Team – 4-5-1, using this formation

Goalkeeper:
  • #10 - Holly Aurora Lapia Radiant Starlight. Chronologically 88. Physically 25. Technically a Valentian by all measures, belonging to Garden at 6th Mile Road. A little too shy, and would rather spend time in her dimensional garden tending her magical flowers. Made out of "cold lights" - a being made entirely out of light energy, but with FanT elements. Her body temperature measures a constant 40 Kelvins. WARNING: DO NOT touch her anywhere BUT her hands. Recent participant of NSSCRA 10, Holly has recently shown herself to be someone who is no longer shy to people around her.

Attackers:
  • #7 - Clarissa Alanis Star Samantha Harumi. Chronologically 93. Physically 24. A harmonious relationship between an emulated human consciousness with raw CPU/GPU power. Participant of both NSSCRA 8, 9, 10, she hopes to use the best of her abilities to score a few goals, with her being the only attacker and full-on offensive that the team has.

Defenders:
  • #14 - Anastasia Freya Thida Myat Yadana Aye. Chronologically 73 years old, Physically 29 years old. Has quite a terrifyingly quick adoption rate to Modern Earth Sports. Tends to be a bit shy. Participant of NSSCRA 9, and a champion of NSSCRA 10.
  • #42 - Jacob Dalston Sullivan András Krisztián. Chronologically 109. Physically 25. He will not rip and tear his opponents apart, the Valentians can promise that. Has quite a lot of energy on himself, and determined to run and kick until a goal is scored.
  • #76 - Marcus Alan Ariel Baptiste Reynolds. Chronologically 113. Physically 27. Certainly not a pushover despite his calm and collected nature. Has quite an ending amount of stamina on him, being able to run circles around offensives and keep the football on him as much as he can.
  • #25 - Mandy Juliet Colette Diva Bertillon. Chronologically 105. Physically 28. A little bit on the excited side. Has adrenaline levels twice that of a normal person. Tends to get hungry quite a lot, and that includes the middle of a football match.

Midfielders:
  • #99 - Augustine Lorenzo Terry Imparato. Chronologically 131. Physically 32. A rather imposing man by all accounts, though he doesn't seem to have that much of that Italian stereotype. A rather nice man, all things considered; just don't insult him and his drink.
  • #23 - Genki Matthieu Grenfeld Lee Zhuān Jiā. Chronologically 116. Physically 33. Was told not to bring martial arts into the field. He is willing to comply, of course, though of circumstances permit, he would not mind bringing a flying kick, or two.
  • #33 - Adrian Dominic Markus Henderson McKenzie. Chronologically 120. Physically 34. Recently promoted to be in the main team after an agreement with Donnie. Certainly feels right at home to be playing football.
  • #15 - Jolyn Maxine Caulfield Helen Ceeta Maximovna. Chronologically 114. Physically 27. A schoolteacher, a spy, and the Vice-President of a good chunk of Valentine Z. Participant of NSSCRA 8 and WGP2, though the latter met an unfortunate end for her. Still determined to make a name for herself with NSSCRA 10, and rising back up in the world of motorsports. All it takes now for her is to be able to see if she can take the heat of football yet again.
  • #31 - Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Eveline Oxton. Chronologically slated to be at least 1 x 104080 years old. Physically 26. If something happens in the Omniverse, she has a hand in it. Doesn’t seem to let smaller things happen on their own. Certainly not a cheater. Participant of NSSCRA 8, 9, 10, though the latter has not been very nice for her with lukewarm and mediocre finishes, without a win. Gwen figured that football might give her the relaxing edge that she need, though her definition of relax involving "competing against tens of professional teams" is definitely unorthodox.

Valentine Z to Host its World Cup 88 Debut on Fate Stadium

1st of May, 2092 (Conventional Earth Time)
Year 29, Day 137; 5:36:00 (Decimal Time)

Author: Head Diplomat Charlene Jeannie Natalia Adeline Marceline “Wanbyeoghan Hyeobsang-Ga” Celestie Christine Irelle Dva. Arianna Rees Edith Novena Annie Ciara W. I. Bethany Myong Suh-Hyung

The Valentians always have had stadiums all over their world as decades go by, with the first few stadiums being established in the 2030s as a result of economic and societal stability after the nuclear war has ended the Pre-Valentian Era. Even then, none would have been as large as the aptly named Fate Stadium that was build back in the 2060s, home to many of the domestic sports that were played in Valentine Z - from the commonly known Olympics, to even Mesoamerican Ball Game known as Pitz, dating back to at least -1650 AD. Since then, the Fate Stadium has been subjected to many changes along the way, most in the form of improvements as follows in its first few years since its debut:

2035: The Stadium was first established and revealed to the public.
2037: Completion of the Fate Stadium.
2040: First Valentian Olympics held.
2041: First Pitz game organized and played. Also the very first time the stadium is changed for renovation and for a change of sports.
2050: More seats added.
2055: Addition of the far-viewers for the audience. (More details on this below.)

Fate Stadium is located in Naypyithaw, Burma, territory of Valentine Z.

And now for the World Cup 88 that is happening in 2092 for us, we saw Valentijn proudly walking into the stadium as she basically took out the sports equipment and pieces like a building block, followed by ripping out the fake grass patch and rolling it over in exchange for the fresh new fake lawn, to both conform to the international football standards, as well as to ensure that there are no random portholes from the spikes and other bits that were from the Olympics. Within the next few hours, the stadium was ready and done, with the rest of the Valentians testing out the systems, the chairs, and everything in-between.

Fate Stadium boasts good acoustics, as well as large seats that were meant for Valentians. Fun fact: Discounting the cybernetic enhancements, oversized exoskeletons, Hollywood-style radiation mutations, and the like, the average height of a Valentian is 493.19 cm / 16' 2". In other words, international guests and folks will find it extremely comfortable and no longer will be doing balancing acts on their seats as they try their best to hold onto their props and snacks whilst still cheering for their favorite team.

Each seat is also provided with a 6K screen tablet that we have built to IP69K for some odd reason; I don't know, perhaps we don't like our stuff broken. Anyway, each of these screens were then connected to the array of overhead cameras all over the football field that would, in essence, present a 360-degree view of the field and the players alike. The arrays of camera are also powerful enough to see every single action in impeccable detail, and those who missed the action can rewind up to 30 minutes of playback from their respective screens.

Word of advice is: Please do not steal or smuggle our devices out of the field. If you would like these gadgets, alongside other merchandise, the Fate Stadium also has room for such a thing. We Valentians sell our very own merchandise, and the storeroom has enough space for 40 more booths. There is plenty of purchasing options for everyone, with discounts to boot, with all proceeds going to charities or on improving the public infrastructure of Valentine Z.

For more information on Valentine Z as a form of tourism guide, please visit Clarissa's article right here. A few folks might find the "What to see, and what to do" and the "Rules and Etiquette, and other tips" to be handy.

We hope that you will enjoy your stay here!

Note: In the Adabian timeline, the World Cup qualifiers take place in May 2033, the World Cup proper and Cup of Harmony in June (?). The months are the same as in RL, only the year has been changed. Age is as of April 22, 2033 (same date as RL, different year).

The Adabian National Football Team

Why couldn’t you beat a richer club? I’ve never seen a bag of money score a goal.
-Johan Cruyff

BACKGROUND
The Islamic Empire of Adab is back at the World Cup. We’ve been gone for far too long.

Adab had shot up in the rankings from 260th to 97th following their inaugural World Cup qualifying campaign in the WC81 cycle, but a severe economic crisis resulted in the country withdrawing from all international cultural and sporting events over the next thirteen years, denying the national team a chance to build on their early success. In a sense, this is an injustice that will never be fully repaired; of the players who made up that squad, most of them did achieve domestic glory, but by the time Adab finally prepared to make its return to international competition, they were – by football standards - growing old and slow. They will have to make way for the younger generation, never again to achieve World Cup glory.

But some of them did return. All the staff did, for a start, led by manager Saad Kaykali, who during the thirteen-year hiatus had built up a real estate company which still seems to be his main focus for now. Kaykali insisted that the Adab Football Association (AFA) grant him a one-match contract, subject to renewal after every match be it friendly or competitive. So far he has renewed his contract after every match. Adab’s outing into the Independent Associations Championship 12 seemed to have revived Kaykali’s love for football, and the rumors have it that he will finally sign a four-year contract following this World Cup, fully recommitting himself to the national team.

As for the squad itself, four veteran players returned from those World Cup 81 days: Mohammed Marramzi, Taymour Frangieh, Ephraim Orlev, and Enlilbani Yargab. Together with Kaykali and the staff, they are expected to provide something of a guiding hand to the newer players, a motley crew of young talent who had been selected in such fashion so as to reflect the country’s ethnic, religious, and gender diversity. They had performed quite well at IAC12; although they went out in the group stage, their attacking play won plaudits and manager Kaykali was even chosen to coach the Team of the Tournament on the Muralos side, alongside Kim Higden of the Picksall Islands. Only time will tell if the good vibes will carry on to World Cup 88. But for now, bring on the football!

KIT
Image
The national team's kits, designed by Ahmad Enlil (the first President of the Football Association) in 1907, are currently manufactured by Shining Sun Company, owned by Rahman Ashurbanipal, businessman and grandson of Emperor Tizqar III.

STAFF
Manager: Saad KAYKALI - Male – born January 20, 1974 (age 59)
Manager Kaykali had to be coaxed to take a leave from his real estate company to once again manage the national team. However he does seem to be enjoying his return, and it is hoped that this will translate to a new, more permanent contract.

Assistant manager: Inimabakesh THULUS - Male – born March 28, 1967 (age 66)
A friend of Kaykali from their playing days at Baghdad City, Inimabakesh Thulus gladly returned once again to assist his friend in managing the team. However the two have grown distant and barely communicated during the thirteen-year hiatus, and who knows what effect this will have on their management of the team.

Assistant manager: Rashid ABBAS - Male – born February 15, 1987 (age 46)
Formerly a star player in the island country of Faraby, now an associated state of Adab, Abbas is determined to do all he can to help the team and prove that he has earned his position by merit, and not merely as a gesture of appeasement from the AFA to its Farabian counterpart.

General coach: Yitzhak BENNETT - Male – born September 20, 1976 (age 56)
Variously described as quiet, active, calm, and attentive, Bennett is very much respected by the players, who admire his work ethic, loyalty to the national team, and willingness to listen to them.

Goalkeeping coach: Faishal AR-RASHID - Male – born August 14, 1978 (age 54)
Regarded, much like Bennett, as a stabilizing influence in the national team, ar-Rashid is particularly close – thanks to his job - to goalkeeper Mohammed Marramzi and is understood to be one of the latter’s few confidants.

Physio: Hamza RIDHA - Male – born January 15, 1983 (age 50)
A longtime friend of both Kaykali and Thulus. Widely respected by fellow staff and players for the understated way by which he performs his job.

STARTING LINEUP
GK: 1 – Mohammed MARRAMZI - Male – born March 15, 1999 (age 34) - Baghdad City (C)
The Captain, as he is often called by the other players in the national team, is back at his post. He denies rumors that he is battling personal issues and continues to enjoy the full confidence of manager Kaykali and fellow members of the squad.

CB: 8 – Shania ENMERKAR - Female – born January 20, 2008 (age 25) - Baghdad City
Widely seen as one of the leaders of the “female wave” in Adabian football, observers nevertheless agree that Enmerkar has earned her place in the team by merit, rather than merely by virtue of her gender. The other female players in the squad look up to her as their leader and spokeswoman, and it is she who often goes to Kaykali to communicate the women’s concerns and opinions.

CB: 6 – Yousif ISSOU - Male – born September 27, 2004 (age 28) - Adab United
A reliable defender, what he lacks in star power he makes up for in tenacity, a seemingly endless energy reserve, and impressive performance on the pitch day in and day out.

LB: 3 – Tansu ALTUN - Female – born February 25, 2009 (age 24) - Mosul
Fondly called the "heart of the squad" by her teammates. Kind, polite, smiling, beautiful inside and out, she gets along easily with all the staff and players. Yet her soft exterior hides a hard, relentless, unyielding side to her, which shines through every time she is called to perform on the pitch.

RB: 4 – Taymour FRANGIEH - Male – born February 24, 2001 (age 32) - Adab United
The youngest of the remaining veterans from the World Cup 81 squad, Frangieh looks forward to mentoring the newer players and maintains good relations with them, but his relationship with captain Marramzi reportedly remains troubled as a result of his interreligious romance with Marramzi’s sister years ago.

CM: 2 – Alulim SINMUBALLIT - Male – born September 15, 2013 (age 19) - Adab United
The baby of the squad, and an undoubted prodigy of the game. Sinmuballit desires nothing more than to impress his teammates, and so far he has impressed them greatly.

LM: 5 – Emma ARTHUR - Female – born November 18, 2012 (age 20) - Adab United
A representative of the Anglo-Adabian community, the second-youngest member of the squad, and widely seen as a young prodigy on almost the same level as Sinmuballit. Also a stunning beauty who has been offered supermodel contracts, which has led to concerns that this will distract her too much from her job as a player, although Kaykali has dismissed those concerns.

RM: 7 – Ephraim ORLEV - Male – born April 18, 1999 (age 34) - Mosul
A veteran from World Cup 81, Orlev remains an integral part of the squad who can be relied upon to drive forward the team’s hallmark counterattacks, yet he is reportedly increasingly uncomfortable with what he perceives to be his status as the team’s token Jew, although this has been assuaged somewhat by the arrival of Rebekah Yissakar.

LW: 9 – Jushur AL-KUFA - Male – born August 27, 2003 (age 29) - Damascus Steelers
A star of the Adabian domestic leagues, the 29-year-old al-Kufa is glad that he has finally achieved his dream to play at the World Cup before it's too late. A consistently polite and unassuming man, he is respected by all of his teammates.

CF: 11 – Enlilbani YARGAB - Male – born April 21, 1999 (age 34) - Baghdad City (VC)
The greatest Adabian player of this generation, the backbone of the team, Yargab is not as fast as he used to be, yet remains as explosive a striker as ever. His love for football burns strong still and he is happy to be able to mentor the younger members of the squad, although he is sometimes taken aback by their reverence for him. But most of all he is glad to be back in the World Cup, where he hopes to once again prove his worth in front of the multiverse.

RW: 10 – Rebekah YISSAKAR - Female – born January 20, 2013 (age 21) - Adab United
Brash, funny, happy-go-lucky, all those words have been used to describe Rebekah Yissakar, but do not let her bubbly, excitable personality distract you from the fact that she is one of Adabian football’s rising talents, with a deadly finishing touch that secured her a place at the forefront of the national team. Widely tipped to be the “new Yargab” and his spiritual successor.

STADIUM
Image
Adab City Stadium, the pride and joy of Adabian football, was completed in 1940. Located in the northern part of Adab City, the stadium was able to accommodate 40,000 people at the time of its opening. Renovations in 1978 made it an all-seater stadium and expanded its capacity to 55,350. Later it increased to 75,000 following upgrades in 2009-10 and then 76,500 after another upgrade in 2019. It is currently home to the Adabian national football team and Adab City FC.

TACTICS AND FORMATION
The team will use 4-3-2-1, the "Christmas tree" formation, with an emphasis on attacking play and rapid passing from the back four to the front. Player positions are available here. Style mod +2.

(OOC: While I enjoy watching football, I cannot say that I am an expert in football tactics and formation. I apologize in advance if I end up RPing something weird.)

Starblaydi RP Permissions Box wrote:OOC Information:

The Starblaydia national football team factbook will tell you more about the team, their style, culture, fans, and history than I can ever write in a simple roster post. If you need more background information or just fancy browsing 17 RL/292 IC years of roleplayed football history, that's a fairly decent place to look. Otherwise drop me a message on Discord or, failing that, shoot a TG over.

I Give My Opponent Permission
(and actively encourage them) To:
====================
Choose my scorers
GodMod Any scoring events
RP injuries to my players
Give Red & Yellow Cards to my players (Within reason; they're not remotely a dirty side overall)
GodMod Other Events for Humorous Intent
====================

Notes:
1) Starblaydia's style modifier is +2
2) The best starting eleven are numbered 1-11 and are in bold
3) I actively encourage that if you RP first you pick my scorers (if any) and their style of goal. Really, please choose my scorers. So often I read RPs where my opponent writes "Starblaydia scored" and it's so, so much more enjoyable when a name is picked for me.
4) * Denotes female, denotes elf, ^ denotes dwarf.
5) Before each match, in between the national anthems and kick-off, the entire 23-man squad will perform the Raiigar, one of Starblaydia's traditional war-dances.
6) If you're stuck for a player to do a specific thing, some suggestions are at the bottom of the infobox on the right.

Five-time World, seven-time Regional, two-time Under-21, one-time Under-18 and one-time Olympic Men's Football champions Starblaydia will line up for their 69th entry into competition for the most sought-after trophy in the multiverse, still aiming for the record, unprecedented, sixth championship.

To achieve this, manager Ázëwyn Fëanáro has been working since the 78th World Cup to mix a core team of tried and trusted individuals with the best of the youth squads she has been bringing through since taking command of the entire national team setup, plus the SFA has completed a brand new national elite training and performance centre to further harness elite sporting prowess.

Starblaydia have appeared in a World (WC 83), Regional (AOCAF 61), Under-21 (DBC 48) and two Under-18 Finals (7th & 8th U18WC) in their recent history - winning the U18 and AOCAF Cups - and the decision to work from the ground up appears to be paying off. Momentum for deep knock-out runs seems to be on Fëanáro's side at the moment, and Starblaydia are still a side that every team in the competition will need to respect.

The full makeup of the team is as follows:

Image

AF. Ázëwyn Fëanáro*, Manager, 4,081 - Image
44th & 47th World Cup Winner, World Cup Hall of Famer, 61st AOCAF Cup Winning Manager

270 Caps, 71 Goals (Uncapped at youth level)
Fëanáro scored the winner in the 47th World Cup Final against Valanora, denying them a title on their own turf and lifting Starblaydia to the mantle of all-time greatest team. Known for her excellent attacking play, range of passing and great eye for goal that lifts her to second in the all-time goalscorers list too, by virtue of a nearly 1-in-4 ratio, Ázëwyn Fëanáro is a symbol of grace, power and beauty from Starblaydia's golden age, some forty tournaments ago when the Cup was in its 40s. It is these qualities that the SFA managed to recapture with Fëanáro at the helm, bringing her trademark poise and piercing yell to the touchlines after more than a decade of national failures. She's taken her team to the World Cup Final and AOCAF glory, but can she increase Starblaydia's lead as the team with the most major titles in the world?

AC. Aaron Cole, Coach, 52 - Image
90 Caps, 54 Goals (7 Caps, 4 Goals at youth level)
The first person to break into the Starblaydi all-time top ten goalscorers in literally generations, Cole had the dubious honour of being the man to finally knock Simeone Di Bradini out of that same list. His excellent footballing brain, aggression levels, tactical nous and all-round Audioslavian/Brenecian level of shithousery made him a uniquely successful striker in a nation more used to smooth flying strikers and hulking target men. These are the qualities he brings to the national team on a much grander scale, giving them a level of needle to their play hitherto unknown for the team in white and purple, proving his style's effectiveness with a win over Audioslavia in the AOCAF Cup Final where they 'out-Bulls'd the Bulls'. The squad selection this time has somewhat fewer spoilers and destroyers than that squad, but this team is developing a character that can dig deep and do the dirty work when required.

AO. Amari Ollarion*, Coach, 52 - Image
46 Caps, 0 Goals (3 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
The best female Starblaydi goalkeeper since Paola Mendez, Ollarion has been managing her beloved Corinthian Spirits side for five years now, and other than Fëanáro is the most high-profile female coach in the Starblaydi game. Ollarion made her name as coach for the Starblaydi Women's Olympic team and did the no mean feat of taking them to the Quarter-Finals, continuing her journey on the senior national level.

Image

1. Ruby Narvaez*, GK, 26 - Image Iskara Daii
43 Caps, 0 Goals (9 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
Thrust into goal for the Olympic Women's team at the tender age of 17 and personally coached by Amari Ollarion, young Ruby Narvaez seemingly snuck into the reserve goalkeeper position, when in fact she was just given the ultimate preparation to take the starting spot. It wasn't expected, however, that the 22 year old would take the reigns the very next tournament, and keep it for World Cup 88.

12. Fernando Armida, GK, 22 - Image Ituraitz FC
1 Cap, 0 Goals (9 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
The 12th Under-18 World Cup was, frankly 'not good', but better Starblaydi goalkeepers have rebounded from worse tournaments, and young Armida was not the sole culprit for that side's below-expectations performance. He's unlikely to see much game time this tournament outside of the qualifiers, but having a a young goalie along for the ride to prepare them better for the future is a tried and tested SFA tradition that appears to have worked pretty well so far.

19. Damion Stanford, GK, 26 - Image Shorterville AC
Uncapped, (2 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
With just two youth caps to his name, and already twenty-six, you'd expect those sorts of international statistics to kill most players' chances of representing their country. When you're a goalkeeper and have had to come in the wake of Cosmo Leopoldi, and the middle of the rise of Ruby Narvaez, however, the stats aren't all that bad. Standford's time at Shorterville has shown he certainly has the potential to get between the posts and do a decent job if required.

Image

2. Andvar Galdarhim^, C/RB, 28 - Image Karak Ungor Chiefs
68 Caps, 6 Goals (15 Caps, 2 Goals at youth level)
He's the first Dwarf to play for Starblaydia since Dorn Garkadrum won his 66 caps for the side, and Galdarhim is most comfortable at right-back, where his boundless energy and pace over short distances is key to his defensive ability. Not always the finest in the tackle, thanks to his short, thick legs, he is however great at intercepting, harrying and pressing the opposition into making mistakes. Often pops up by the side of the opposing penalty area more than his own, Galdarhim is the definition of a shuttle runner, up and down the right flank all game long with excellent speed and stamina. It's all these qualities that have seen him earn a spot at one of the most famous club sides in history.

3. Claire Stephenson*, LB/LWB, 28 - Image Jhanna City
29 Caps, 0 Goals (13 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
Overlapping full backs have become a staple of Fëanáro's sides over recent years, and the attacking versatility of Stephenson has seen her get the nod. JCFC's left sided shuttle runner seems to have boundless energy, and although she's better at going forward than defensively, her understanding with Galdarhim over who pushes up and who drops back has been increasing with every game the pair play together.

5. April Hoyt*, CB, 29 - Image Guerilla Cathair
56 Caps, 3 Goals (15 Caps, 2 Goals at youth level)
Intelligent positional play and a keen presence in set pieces at both ends, Hoyt staked her claim to the Number 5 shirt in previous tournaments and has now been placed at the heart of the Starblaydi defence and earned herself a transfer across the water to one of the sixty-four Cathair sides. The Jhanna native and former JUFC star is one of a number of players who have been given the biggest responsibilities, but many pundits are marking her out as Starblaydia's future top defender.

6. Vincenzo Bernini, CB, 30 - Image AC Mariina
28 Caps, 0 Goals (12 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
One of the tallest players ever to wear the shirt, Bernini was the lynchpin of the Vics, earning a move and a significant pay boost to play in Mriin for AC Mariina. Powerful and great in the air, his long limbs are a terror for any player who faces him as he can pluck the ball from seemingly impossible distances. Sure, he turns like an oil tanker, but there's something that pure height and strength makes up for, dominating any set piece situation and being tough to get physical with.

13. Wilbur Grovesnor, C/LB, 25 - Image Tabeck FC
Uncapped (5 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
One of many Starblaydi players in this squad with hardly any caps despite being in their mid-20s, Grovesnor has suffered from Lucius Wolffe's longevity in the left-back spot, and has now seen Stephenson's offensive capabilities surge past him in the pecking order. Naturally much more defensive due to his tackling and ability to read the game, he's a solid option to lock down opposing wingers and forwards, rather than force them deeper to defend.

14. Dalton Aldridge, CB, 27 - Image Tikariot City FC
10 Caps, 0 Goals, (5 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
Aldridge has been on the periphery of the first team for quite a while now, with appearances in World Cup 87's Qualifiers and some time in regional games. He's been the leading Starblaydi player in Tikariot for a while, but now he's the leader of a gang of four in the national team setup, all trying to break in to the starting XI at the earliest opportunity.

20. Jean-Carlo Fiske, CB, 23 - Image Ancarea FC
Uncapped (2 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
The second of the four Tikariotian-based players in this squad, Fiske is a versatile defender who has only recently nailed down Centre Back as is specialised position. At just 23 and with bags of potential, he's definitely aiming for a starting spot in the next few tournaments, assuming he can break past Hoyt and Bernini.

Image

4. Friederika Lee*, C/LM, 25 - Image Alexandria City
10 Caps, 2 Goals (6 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
Only the second Starblaydi ever to play in Xanneria, and the first to make it into the national team, Lee is a versatile left-sided midfielder, a player with a great engine who can go box-to-box for 95 minutes.

7. Hayden Shepherd,C/DM, 32 - Image Union Cathair
59 Caps, 7 Goals (15 Caps, 1 Goal at youth level)
Hayden Shepherd is a terroriser, a harasser and a presser. He is the shadow that the forward-thinking players have to contend with and attempt to get away from. Seemingly with endless energy and drive to disrupt the opposition and win the ball back, he's not a player you find in the scoring charts, or even in the opposing penalty area. He's got one job, which is to get the ball back, or force the other team into making a mistake. When he does find himself with the ball, he'll often play the simple pass to one of his more skillful teammates, so don't expect anything truly exciting to go through him. Do expect, however, him to be continually getting in the face of players and officials when the whistle blows.

8. Jewel Maddison*, Captain, C/AM, 30 - Image X Island Marauders
76 Caps, 28 Goals (12 Caps, 5 Goals at youth level)
The X Island midfielder didn't make the starting lineup of the AOCAF 61 final, but when she did come on, she scored Starblaydia's opening goal in the 2-1 win. Now 30, she's both captain, and the main the central midfielder with all the energy and skills to get forward and ghost into the box when least expected, being the body that provides the overload and first to any loose ball with a stinging shot. There's certainly an argument that Maddison is one of the best players in her position in the world, mentioned on a Galacticos long list of the best 32 midfielders.

11. Andreas Sargent, R/LM, 28 - Image FK Metropola Borotrad
20 Caps, 2 Goals (15 Caps, 1 Goals at youth level)
There are two types of qualities that Fëanáro looks for when including players in her squad. The first is the ability to change a game, provide a new challenge for the opposition and set Starblaydia on a different path to victory. The second is a steadfast reliability, versatility and solidity that will ensure no gambling with the game plan or the strategy, and Andreas Sargent definitely represents the latter type of player. Consistent without being brilliant, reliable without being the star, and hardworking to a fault.

15. Quentin Brackenridge, DM, 26 - Image Tabeck Cefn Druids
19 Caps, 1 Goals (10 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
Solid, dependable and a breaker of midfields, Brackenridge patrols the halfway line and barely gets into the opposing half, but when he's that good at stealing and intercepting the ball, then playing the deceptively simple pass to a free teammate, he's worth as much in attack as he is in defence.

16. Terry Stamper, RM, 23 - Image Avanaroch White Wings FC
Uncapped (7 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
Looking to make his first international appearances at senior level during this tournament, Stamper is an intelligent wide player but his left leg is primarily for standing on. That doesn't matter all that much, however, with excellent dead ball deliveries and an excellent passing and crossing ability.

21. Helena Herrera*, CM, 24 - Image Ókumo Ferofo (Tioguldós)
Uncapped (9 Caps, 1 Goal at youth level)
Herrera is an all-action midfielder with an old-fashioned box-to-box engine, tough tackling and powerful shooting. A little bit more care in some tackles would be advisable at international level to keep the referee's involvment in her life to a minimum, but she's a frenetic ball of energy wherever she plays, driving the team forward with her workrate and popping up all over the middle third.

Image

9. Sam Roshanak, SC/LW, 25 - Image Rülândéá Kôstä
24 Caps, 10 Goals (7 Caps, 2 Goals at youth level)
Sam Roshanak's intrepid adventure to Farfadillis has certainly been rewarded with game time and he's shown he can take the chances he's given. Not only a good all-round striker, but he can play out wide on the left and terrorise defences from post to corner flag. The prospect of him rampaging in the half space has seen him get the nod over the more experienced Jetvanna, and this time he has the shirt number made so famous by his older sister. Who knows quite how far he could go?

10. Lucian Damocles, SC, 26 - Image Shamrock Cathair
52 Caps, 27 Goals (11 Caps, 6 Goals at youth level)
Lucian Damocles has thrust himself into the limelight as Starblaydia best striker, claiming the fabled #10 shirt. Largely left-footed, his cut inside from the right flank is a nightmare for many a defender, but he has strength to go with the speed and an eye for goal at practically any distance. Never afraid to pull the trigger, or ride a challenge an extra step longer than most players to find the scoring opportunity, Damocles' lethality is only match by his tenacity.

17. Omar Al Qubaisi, SC/AM, 28 - Image Yaton FC
49 Caps, 16 Goals (17 Caps, 4 Goals at youth level)
An exceptionally hard worker, who often appears more in the assist and Key Contribution columns than the goalscoring charts, Al Qubaisi has really begun to make himself available in a position that fits within the style that Fëanáro has developing across the entire national team setup, thanks to developing in the Taeshani league system over the last few years. Omar tends to play as a false nine through the middle than an out-and-out striker, but his size and strength also gives him qualities as a target man to bring wingers into play.

18. Layla Cellaeron*, SC, 24 - Image Articala Inlet
14 Caps, 8 Goals (10 Caps, 3 Goals at youth level)
Cellaeron has great pace and an eye for goal, offering a pair of fresh legs and youthful exuberance that might just be the key to unlocking some defences. Her scoring rate for when she has appeared for the senior side is second to none, so when there's a final roll of the dice and a desperate game-changer required, it just might be Cellaeron.

22. Betanni Jetvanna*, SC, 32 - Image Kitara AA
81 Caps, 33 Goals (17 Caps, 12 Goals at youth level)
With her time in Banija netting her a league win and a Champions' League win, Jetvanna's greatest asset has always beens her pace, and with a solid international goalscoring record. Jetvanna's experience and goalscoring threat will be enough to see her get some game time at least, and her usual strategy of popping up all over the pitch and constant tracking back is a part of a powerful rotational option.

23. Victor Reinaldo, SC/CF, 23 - Image Vilharady Owls FC
Uncapped (7 Caps, 1 Goal at youth level)
The most attacking player in the Starblaydi 'gang of Four' in the Tikariotian league, Reinaldo is a centre forward who can hold up the ball with his back to goal, play his passes simply or cleverly, and bring other onrushing forwards into the game. His movement is spot-on, too, and he has the size to be able to hold off the most robust of challenges. Not only is Reinaldo one to watch, he's also a perfect option for Damocles up front when Fëanáro needs to change things up.

Image
(4-2-3-1), +2 Style Modifier
It's a switch from a 4-3-3 to a 4-2-3-1, with a double pivot, expected to bring a subtle difference to Starblaydia's play with more defensive solidity and create more space higher up the field, at the expense of some possession, to bring a focus on fast attacks and counter-attacks.

ediraf once again innovated beyond all competitors with the Generation Five series of football kits, with this version first debuted at the 82nd World Cup Finals.

Generation Five-B blends a number of Starblaydia's iconic kits from across more than a quarter of a millennium, including the return of side panels and a number on the front, while mixing in new design elements such as the subtle stripes of the away kit. Both proudly sport the five gold stars - representing their record-setting five World Championships at senior level - above the Starblaydi Football Association logo. Starblaydi players will also all be wearing rainbow laces, as a symbol of diversity and inclusion.

ediraf's market-leading technology includes:

Optiyarn
Optiyarn technology increases both supporting structure and dynamic stretch ability according to the wearer's requirements, isolating body parts and muscle groups for maximum integrity of material and complete comfort of fit. Toughened against all climates that come into contact with the exterior, yet gentle and smooth on the inside, Optiyarn fits better and aligns more comfortably to a player's body than ever before.

Aerodynamix
Aerodynamix design improves airflow over the material in a natural, ergonomic pattern, because even microseconds can be the different between victory and defeat on the grandest stages of sporting endeavour. Limbs and torso move more swiftly through the air, cutting through to achieve acceleration and top speeds hitherto unknown in previous incarnations.

Transpacool Three
Transpacool Three improves and evolves on the breathability features of previous ediraf CoolClimate creations, dispersing sweat into the atmosphere faster than ever before, siphoning cooling air in with more efficiency than any kit the company has produced previously. A Generation Five kit provides a greater enabler to a player's natural talent than at any point in history whilst keeping them at the optimum performance temperature.

The site of the 80th World Cup Final, all of Starblaydia's home matches will take place in the 196,754-seater Stadii Di Bradini, close to the popular tourist destination of Downtown Jhanna, Starblaydia's capital city. Boasting extensive transport links, hotels, restaurants, bars, clubs and entertainment, the Downtown area is the perfect place for a nearly quarter of a million fans to disperse into every evening after a match. It also has a direct route to JAX, Starblaydia's main internal airport and a major air travel hub of Atlantian Oceania.

The stadium is named after Starblaydia's most legendary former player, Jhanna-born striker Simeone Di Bradini: the former World Cup Committee President, World Cup Hall of Famer, and four-time World Cup Winner (all with The Holy Empire as player/manager), for whom the Di Bradini Cup, the world's premier Under-21 tournament, is also named. It is a gargantuan stadium notable for environmentally friendly 'eco-stadium' features built-in since before ground was first broken on the site. Designed and constructed using as many recyclable materials and installed with technology that reduce its carbon footprint and lowers its energy needs, the exterior features a huge array of photovoltaic solar panels on the roof. It was the centerpiece of the 'Green Starblaydia' project many years ago and remains one of the world's iconic stadiums.

Within two World Cup cycles Tikariot has managed to elevate itself into the upper echelons of football. After narrowly missing out for World Cup 86, having been in contention for a playoff spot until the very last day of qualification, where they went into what basically was a playoff in itself against TJUN-ia as a win would have meant Tikariot qualifying for the final playoffs, their World Cup 87 campaign seemed doomed from the beginning, having been drawn into one group with Vilita, Newmanistan, Tequilo and Zeta Reka and Hugeltaldom, but they qualified for the playoff stage, only one point behind favourites and group winners Vilita, where they beat Huayramarca to qualify for a World Cup for the first time in their history. Here they managed to remain unbeaten during the group stage, qualifying for the Round of 16 as group winners ahead of ultimate World Cup winners Nephara, where they ultimately lost against Farfadillis, but they definitely left a lasting impression during this run with their very offense minded football!

Image
The fans of the Snowy Owls also deserve particular mentioning. Not only are they renowned for their chants, but they are also bringing the Thunder Clap (Click here for example) to the stadium, something that the players join in as a pre-game ritual that has left an impression on the opponents and opposing fans more than once (OOC: similar to the Haka of the New Zealand All Blacks). The players will form a triangle near the kick off circle and lift their arms, which the fans do as well. Then a long drum will start to signal the rhythm and both players and fans alike will move in unison, each clap accompanied with a loud cry, the claps (and cries) speeding up, creating an overwhelming sense of impending doom.

Image
Stuart Ekstrom - 48 Image
Not least due to the surprise run in World Cup 87, Stuart Ekstrom is very high in popularity polls both among fans and federation officials. A wily tactician that prefers an offensive game, but with the ability to fluidly switch systems by pulling back the wingers to give a sudden defensive man advantage. He is a proponent of the offense-heavy 4-3-3 and the World Cup 88 campaign will be a direct continuation. Nominating a good mixture between veterans and new blood, he is positive that the Snowy Owls will be very competitive again!

Image

G Brian Merson - 28 - Kitara AA (BNJ) - 24 caps, 0 goals, 0 assists
Coming off an absolutely stellar season, winning the IFCF Champions' League with Kitara AA, Merson has once more captured the starting spot in the Tikariotian national team. He is a very complete keeper with few weaknesses and since his move to Banija also has progressed into a bit of a sweeper keeper role, being an active part in gameplay.
LB Jean-Aniel Sirois - 25 - Tikariot City FC - 9 caps, 0 goals, 1 assist
One of the shooting stars this season, Sirois has immediately found his spot in Tikariot City's backline. Relatively short in stature, he has tremendous speed and a great eye for the game, allowing him to both intercept incoming opponents and also initiate counter attacks with remarkable fluidity.
CB Salman Faizullah - 20 - Port Tacassam FC - 7 caps, 2 goals, 0 assists
Together with James Coronello, Faizullah was instrumental in Port Tacassam's status as best defense in the league. A tremendous force in the aerial play he is the kind of no-nonsense centre back that oppoents will be thinking twice about approaching.
CB James Coronello - 30 - Algolia (SRS) - 83 caps, 4 goals, 4 assists
While not the tallest central defender, Coronello has been the epitome for consistency when it comes to performance, more than making up for his lack in physical stature it with speed and an uncanny ability to time tackles perfectly, unnerving his opponents. His move to the Squornshelan Remnant States also proves the international appreciation his play has received
RB Anil Al Hak - 27 - Port Tacassam FC - 48 caps, 3 goals, 5 assists
Very solid right back that does not get rattled easily. Strong defensively he does not go forward much, but has a great eye to read the game and his passes out the back are renowned throughout the TPL, gaining him more assists than a lot of more offensive wing backs. Through outstanding performances in both club and national team he has firmly clinched this starting spot.
LM Sakari Vainionpää - 20 - Anhedron Wanderers FC - 12 caps, 1 goal, 0 assists
Benefitting from Nicholas van Haar having a bit of an off-year, Anhedron's Vainionpää has taken the opportunity to break into the line-up, leading his team close to the IFCF spots so far. Equally at home in central and left midfield, he has really grown into a leading role with a great eye for teammates and also having honed his shot into a force to be reckoned with.
CM Rory McNair - 30 - Tihon (CMT) - 74 caps, 20 goals, 16 assists
Having moved within Chromatika in the off season, Rory McNair is still the lynchpin of Tikariot's midfield, as the epitome of physical play. Uncompromising, physical with a knack for monstrous tackles, McNair is there to disrupt, to destroy, but when he captures the ball, he also has the talent to distribute it, short or long, being instrumental in switching from defense to offense. He also has a cannon of a shot that has made some opposing players reconsider their spot in the wall during freekicks.
RM Giovanni Vacarese - 24 - Pyathora Mariners FC - 24 caps, 6 goals, 5 assists
The shining star in a mostly dysfunctional Pyathora team this season, Vacarese has turned into one of the biggest goal-scoring threats from midfield. He has the technique to put his team mates into scoring position, but also has a lethal shot that he likes to unleash on unsuspecting defenses.
LW Morris Nighthorse - 20 - Baraldhur AFC - 70 caps, 35 goals, 27 assists
After clinching the TPL's Player of the Year award for two years running at only 20 years old, Nighthorse has overcome another injury early in the season and seems on track for a third great season in a row. He is still considered one of the hottest prospects in world football today. He is one of the fastest players in the TPL, making him a nightmare for opposing defenders. He is not the most physical player, but his sheer speed allows him to avoid tackles easily and he will shoot from any position possible.
CF Jesson Morrison - 20 - Anhedron Wanderers FC - 20 caps, 8 goals, 1 assist
After a slump-season, the M&Ms are back. Jesson Morrison and Franklin Mosnyk have been tearing up the league once more, being key to Anhedron's formidable season so far. A tall and lanky striker, Morrison has a very strong aerial play, but also is no slouch when it comes to his feet. While not a filigree player, he can get around opponents on the ground as well.
RW Franklin Mosnyk - 28 - Anhedron Wanderers FC - 28 caps, 9 goals, 5 assists
The almost perfect complement to Morrison's aerial strength, Mosnyk is short and quick and has an irresistible gravitation towards the goal. He can be somewhat wasteful with scoring chances sometimes, but that is because he usually tries to go for the most direct way possible to score. That being said, he still wracks up a fair amount of assists as well, even if it is sometimes from shots gone awry.

GK Colt Skirving - 19 - Avanaroch White Wings FC - 10 caps, 0 goals, assists
GK Matthias Prediger - 18 - Eivora Athletic FC - 8 caps, 0 goals, 0 assists
LB Keith Farnham - 27 - Eivora Athletic FC - 20 caps, 0 goals, 3 assists
LB Fraser Chitwick - 20 - Miruan City FC - 17 caps, 0 goals, 0 assists
CB Walter Thomas - 20 - Anhedron Wanderers FC - 41 caps, 0 goals, 5 assists
CB Stian Farnsrud - 20 - Miruan City FC - 10 caps, 0 goals, 0 assists
CB Blade Person - 20 - Veriasod Lakers FC - 19 caps, 0 goals, 1 assist

Kevredigezh Gouvanarchais de Mell-Droad
Gouvanarch Football Federation

Image
After decades of international dormancy the Kevredigezh Gouvanarchais de Mell-Droad has decided to bring Gouvanarchais football to the international stage. Football is the by far and wide biggest sport in Gouvanarch, yet there is no benchmark as to its strength. This is about to change. Tactically Gouvanarch is fairly conservative, sticking to a solid 4-4-2, but they are trying to learn from this tournament to potentially gain more tactical flexibility. They managed to get past the group stages of both Wonder Cup and Baptism of Fire, but both times failed to advance in the knock-out stages, but their performances in both tournaments have been taken note of by the international footballing community, which was continued on in the qualification stages of World Cup 87, where Gouvanarch finished a respectable 6th in the group.

Image
Cadhoiarn de Rely - 48
Cadhoiarn de Rely interned at the academy of Tikariotian powerhouse Oriannor Mountaineers and has gained valuable insight into the inner workings of a strong team, trying to emulate this for the national team as well. While playing a 4-4-2 formation, he puts great emphasis on pressing the opponent, trying to force them into making mistakes in their own half, so far with varying success.

Image
G Eudon Rocque - 22 - The Wolves Club (MUR) - 11 caps, 0 goals, 0 assists
Rocque is showing great potential, but still suffers from inexperience in most areas of his play. He possesses excellent reflexes and is using his height very well for high balls, but he still is insecure when coming out of the goal and sometimes still mistimes his jumps.
LB Judoc Tanet - 29 - AS Plourafel - 15 caps, 0 goals, 3 assists
One of the older players in the squad, Tanet is the calm rock in the Gouvanarchais defense. He does not play flashy and also does not contribute a whole lot to the offense, but he is extremely dependable against oncoming attackers and also does not lose his calm under pressure.
CB Alanig Quiviger - 24 - Morannon Athletic FC (TKT) - 14 caps, 0 goals, 1 assist
Quiviger has been likened to a terrier, following his opponents wherever they go and not letting go. While unnerving his opponent(s) and often preventing them from getting to the ball to begin with, he also concedes too many free kicks close to his own team's box and the coaches hope that some additional international experience will help him become calmer. His physical presence, however, already is impressive.
CB Guimand de la Verdure - 19 - Parakleion Firebirds FC (TKT) - 13 caps, 0 goals, 3 assists
A very modern defender, de la Verdure possesses surprising technique for a centre back, but he is capable of winning the ball and then immediately initiating the counter attack with great long passes into the other half, capable of seeking out offensive midfielders and strikers alike. He is quick, but is lacking aerial play, which requires him to have a strong, tall defender to complement.
RB Domard Prudhomme - 33 - Virtus Redoccio (SOR) - 14 caps, 0 goals, 1 assist
The oldest player in the starting lineup, Prudhomme is maybe the weakest point in the Gouvanarchais team, lacking speed and offensive contribution, even though he is a dogged contender in any challenge. The defensive right side is a problem area and some experts call Prudhomme the "least likely to commit a fatal mistake".
LM Jagu de Vandes - 20 - Nottingham County United (MUR) - 15 caps, 3 goals, 4 assists
Part of the championship winning team of FC Carnoël 84, de Vandes is one of the biggest raw diamonds in Gouvanarchais football. He has the speed, the technique and a good tactical acumen, but is severely lacking the physical robustness modern football requires and he also has to work on his decision making. His talent, however, is great and several international teams have already expressed interest in signing de Vandes in the upcoming offseason.
CM Jacut Desesprechin - 28 - Morannon Athletic FC (TKT) - 12 caps, 0 goals, 2 assists
Desesprechin is the central presence in Gouvanarch's defensive midfield and has speed, physicality and a mean streak when it comes to chasing down his opposition. A tireless worker he is known to get stuck in and do (almost) whatever it takes to capture the ball, often toeing the line of what is allowed in the rules, making him a potential red card risk in the more intense games. His freekicks are feared throughout Gouvanarch with some players refusing to go into the wall when he is ready to shoot.
CM Waleran Bracquaval - 28 - Dawson Diamonds (KHD) - 15 caps, 2 goals, 1 assist
Waleran Bracquaval is the midfield motor for Laorivoaré and hopefully also the national team. He is a virtual ball magnet that attracts it and he also has a great eye to redistribute it. The tendency for almost every attack going through him, however, also poses the risk of predictability, which is one thing coach de Rely is trying to instill into the team to avoid. He also possesses a great shot from a distance, making him one of the more dangerous midfielders in this sector as well.
RM Jodoc Gane - 18 - Vantanoch FC (TKT) - 15 caps, 5 goals, 1 assist
Another one of the unpolished gems, Gane played a surprisingly large role in Carnoël's road to the championship. He is all speed and offense, creating a sometimes dangerous vacuum between him and the extremely defensive Prudhomme, but his defensive play leaves a lot to be desired. He has strokes of brilliance that can open up the game, but also is still prone to horrendous mistakes, which then put his defensive teammates in trouble.
FW Adhémar Desreaulx - 25 - Morannon Athletic FC (TKT) - 15 caps, 13 goals, 4 assists
Tall and wide, Desreaulx is a very powerful, physical attacker, whose nickname "4x4" is program. He does not have the best technique, but once he gets rolling it is very hard for any defender to get him off the ball without committing a foul. Equipped with a powerful shot he is capable to tear down a defense on his own if he can survive the first touch that still has a tendency to bounce too far.
FW Barthelemy de la Cormeilles - 18 - Vilharady Owls FC (TKT) - 15 caps, 9 goals, 10 assists
Widely regarded as likely the biggest talent in Gouvanarchais football, Barthelemy de la Cormeilles already is playing for the Tikariot City FC Academy (on loan to the Vilharady Owls for the new season) and has all the tools to become a complete striker. He has speed, technique and a decent robustness which is the main point of criticism for now. He possesses a great scoring instinct, but still has to learn to have a better eye for his teammates as he has a tendency to try too much on his own.

Big shout out to Ziwana for making this kit. Despite Sylestone's national side being Appliances, there have been complaints from the public about not having a kit, so we have taken that into account.

Brick Wall
Position: Goalkeeper
About: The Brick Wall is quite literally a Brick Wall in the goals, stopping almost every shot. However, his dimensions are far off the dimensions of a soccer goal, so goals still go in as he shuffled around.
Dirty Tactics: Ramming into the occasional striker who dribbles the ball towards him instead of just shooting.

Ironing Board
Position: Defender
About: The Ironing Board is well known across Sylestone for his brilliant defence and his ability to stop almost every dribbling striker in their tracks.
Dirty Tactics: Used his flexible legs to stop the ball from passing through the defence and uses his iron to warn off opposing strikers with its heat.

Dishwasher
Position: Defender
About: The Dishwasher is an interesting character in the Sylestonean defence. His large body stops a lot of balls from going into the goalmouth.
Dirty Tactics: Speed water everywhere in the defence, especially in the second half, which bogs the playing field, stopping many offensive moves in their tracks.

Tumble Dryer
Position: Striker
About: One of Sylestone’s main two strikers, the Tumble Dryer is a brilliant but inaccurate goal scorer for the Sylestonean side. One to watch.
Dirty Tactics: Spins the ball around in his Dryer and flings it at the goal. Also shuts the machine and carries the ball inside it.

Washing Machine
Position: Defender
About: Another large sentient object in the defence, the Washing Machine is once again, another player who stops many offensives with his large body.
Dirty Tactics: Is basically a combination of the Dishwasher and Tumble Dryer. Spews water everywhere and flings the ball out of himself at odd angles.

Sofa
Position: Defender
About: Sylestone's defence is full of their largest sentient athletes and the Sofa is the largest of them. His defence has been the best all tournament and he runs the backline. A lot will be reliant on him if Sylestone are to get a respectable result this tournament.
Dirty Tactics: Can speak into the minds of opposition, giving them a feeling of wanting to sit down and relax.

Fridge:
Position: Midfielder
About: Another large object, but this time it is located in Sylestone's midfield. He is the king of dirty tactics and runs opponents down with his buff body. Easily the most laughable of all of the Sylestonean Appliances.
Dirty Tactics: Has many of them, most of which can't be named. His main one is shutting his door and running towards the goal with the ball inside. Others include his super-appliance jumping skills and cold breath.

Bar Stool
Position: Midfielder
About: If the Fridge is the dirtiest, the Bar Stool is the cheekiest. He doesn't have any of his own dirty tactics, but he "allies" with another object and uses them to perform his own. Definitely an unpredictable character and one to watch out for.
Dirty Tactics: One of his tactics is to be the one who kicks the ball inside the Fridge when he goes off on his run. He also stands on other objects to reach high balls.

Drawer
Position: Defender
About: One of Sylestone's lesser defenders, the Drawer is quite a stationary object in the defence. He stands in your road and doesn't let you past and is more of a sweeper. Still, a force to be reckoned with, though.
Dirty Tactics: Keeps the ball in one of his chests when they are doing well so the opposition has a lesser chance of scoring.

Stove:
Position: Midfielder
About: I always thought a Stove without pots and pans would be useless, but it isn't so. This stove has a couple of sneaky tricks up his sleeve and is certainly one of the Sylestonean players the opposition midfielders need to deal with sooner rather than later.
Dirty Tactics: Makes the air really hot around him, as opposed to the Fridge.

Mixer
Position: Striker
About: Arguably Sylestone's most valuable player, the Mixer is a star dribbler and striker. His goal scoring ratio isn't so great and that is mainly the Tumble Dryer's job, but he is the one that actually gets the ball to that point. However, he is quite unpredictable and sometimes his dribbling skills go horribly wrong, especially considering the ball is about the size of his body.
Dirty Tactics:
Weaves in and out of defenders with his tiny size and amazing dribbling skills. Gets unplugged a bit too often, though.

Table - Goalkeeper

Toilet - Defender
AC Vent - Striker
Nokia - Defender

Players
Goran Stroud is likely to be Audioslavia’s first-choice goalkeeper for some time. A tall, imposing figure at the back who can be heard bellowing instructions to his defenders from several miles away. His reflexes aren’t anything to write home about, so if there’s a shot you’d imagine he wouldn’t save then… yeah he probably won’t save it, but his positioning is getting better and better with age. Fellow goalkeepers Tom McFarland and Maren Artetxebarria are both capable, but are unfortunate to be sharing the same generation as big Goran.

On the flanks of the defence are two attack-minded full-backs who will be expected to patrol every inch of their respective wings. The powerful Tiago Brown has a freakishly low centre of gravity that allows the 5’10 right-back to twist and turn his way past defenders going forward and stay on his man in defence, but isn’t the most accurate when it comes to making tackles, while Côtescassées is the other type of speedy wing-back - scrawny and terrier-like in defence, with a left foot that likes to pump the ball in behind the opposition’s back four.

Captain Leo Ceron marshalls a defence that includes reliable Itzalovalle centre-half Alex Consuegra and David Logan, one of the few members of the squad to play their football outside of Audioslavia’s National League, along with Calum Kirkpatrick, Riccardo Rastelli, Santiago Rosel, fellow defender Michel Saint-Francois and winger Erwin Spijkers, who is the side’s biggest attacking threat. Nominally. a winger, Spijkers is being played in a more advanced, central role with the full-backs asked to provide a more attacking impetus. Eurico returns to the starting line-up, again in a central role, while Cammers has opted for a defensive midfield partnership of the experienced Moses Moxey, a tall box-to-box midfielder who has long been the side’s engine room - and newcomer Brannigan Burley who is an all-out defensive midfielder.

Up front, Koenraad Risjbergen is preferred to Rosel and Zozaia for being an all-out target-man, employed to use his elbows and shoulders to find space in the opposition’s area and generally be a nightmare to try to deal with.

Culture
On the domestic scene, Audioslavian football is in the best state its ever been. Two seasons in a row have been spent at the summit of the IFCF coefficients, with the likes of Shamrock, 1830 Cathair and AC Izotz Zubia competing at the highest level season after season, and most National League teams appearing in at least the group stages of the Challengers Cup every year.

As the domestic scene has grown, the national team has floundered, and there are some who say the two things are correlated. Back when Audioslavia were good (ask your Great Grandfather) the players largely plied their trade at foreign clubs and relished the opportunity to represent their national team. These days, the overwhelming majority of the players are based in the National League, with it becoming less and less lucrative to leave, and domestic tensions permeate the squad. Whereas previously the Bulls had been able to perform at levels well outside the sum of their parts, nowadays they’re lucky to hit their weight. The modern Audioslavian footballer has higher expectations, bigger egos and much more media buzz surrounding them than they might have done half a century ago, without actually being any better at football than their predecessors - perhaps even the opposite. It’s not conducive to a good working relationship with your fellow players.

At the start of the cycle, the Bulls shocked the world - and themselves - by being crowned Champions of Atlantian Oceania. Nobody is quite sure how to take that. Are Audioslavia good? Or just very lucky? Either way, the side will continue to play the Audioslavian way, using a fair amount of gamesmanship and cheap tactics to try to tip the balance. Audioslavia play a brand of counter-attacking football named Kontrapuntzeka in which they attempt to soak up pressure in order to hit their opponents on the break. As a result they often have problems with breaking down teams that defend solidly. Audioslavian players tend to be on the smaller side, averaging around 5’9 with a few exceptions here and there (Moxey, Rijsbergen and Stroud are above 6’0, but most of the others aren’t, including the back five) but are usually physically fitter than their opponents, as such able to keep playing at the same level deep into games and capitalising as their opponents tire. The trade-off to this is a lack of technique compared to their international rivals. Oh, and there are always quesitons about the team’s mentality. If things start going wrong, mistakes start to creep into the Audioslavians’ game.

Home Stadium
Arena Kirola - Cathair, Audioslavia
Built in time for World Cup 66, the Arena Kirola has [/b]been the home of Audioslavia's national football team for as long as most living Audioslavians can remember. There has been very little call for the national team to change grounds in the intervening years. A long, narrow pitch is perfectly suited to the counter-attacking football prefered by both the national team and tenants 1830 Cathair, who have adopted their own way of utilising the pitch's peculiar (but perfectly legal, we may add) dimensions.

The high, bright white walls that surround the pitch are iconic. Once upon a time electronic advertising boards were mounted on the walls, but that practice has been replaced by the simple act of selling an entire side of the stadium to one bidder each, who then creates a mural advertising their product. Sometimes this works, like when energy drink company Saltire created a series of artworks based on Audioslavia's two World Cup triumphs to adorn the wall opposite the hard camera before an international against Nephara. Sometimes it doesn't work so well. Take, for example, the thousand-burger-wrapper collage made by fast food chain 'O'Diamhnaghs' over the first half of 1830 Cathair's most recent season.

The Stadium contains an array of amenities, from top quality restaurants to saunas, shops and supermarkets, to appease those sponsors that might only be traveling to the greatest match in club football in order to network with their business buddies. So numerous are the amenities that you might be forgiven that thinking the smallish pitch was an afterthought.

The stadium is getting on a bit, and as such the capacity has been lowered after renovations which converted the uppermost section of the top tier into higher-priced boxed seating. You can just about fit 75,000 people into the ground these days.

Permissions
It’s mainly all good, with one caveat: The weirder the thing you want to do, the more effort you should put into it. Don’t tell me you have a weird idea and ask for my permission to do it, just go for it. The worst that can happen is that I subtly ignore-cannon your thing.
If you beat us, you probably did it by outthinking us, outbattling us or outplaying us. If you lost to us, it’s probably because we figured out a tactic that you played upon your team’s weakness, or we snuck a late goal after your boys (or girls, or ponies) succumbed to fatigue.

South Covello National Team Roster

Nickname: Rebels
Style modifier: -5

Head Coach: Elmo von Keekee
Assistant Head Coach: Dorian Jones, Frank Hornberger

After World Cup 79 and the South Covellan Revolution, the feisty Rebels elected to turn things over to the next generation. Richard Hawkins, previously the star goalkeeper, was named head coach, but the entire team was new. Vinnie LaGuche returned as well, as an assistant coach, and was joined by Joey Egermeister, a proud supporter of the Revolution and lifelong soccer fan who previously served as Acting President of the South Covello Soccer Federation after the Gregists were overthrown.

Hawkins and his staff hand-picked the new stars, and to his pleasant surprise he was able to find a young goalie who was almost athletic as he was, in Matthew Tyler. Tyler was just 19 years old and already almost as good as Hawkins was. In time, he would probably even surpass him. The rest of the team filled in nicely as well, defensively minded as always, and, as many of them had grown up idolizing the strong defensive wall, first for the Foot Slaves and then the Rebels, this led many of them to become defenders as well. So the good old Rebel Wall was still there, great and strong as ever. The team wouldn’t be letting in many goals this cycle, it sure seemed.

The Rebels would be playing a defensive 4-5-1 this cycle, with the sole striker being the young, awesomely named star Coconut Charles. The Coconut name, of course, was a direct insult to the Gregists, Lord Almighty Gregory and the others who forbid the mere mention of the work. It was sure to be a spectacular future.

However, the future wasn't all it was cracked up to be. South Covello fell way too early, in the Round of 16 of World Cup 80. However, they rebounded in World Cup 81, making the final before losing to Eura, and will look to finally hoist that elusive trophy this tournament. World Cup 82 and World Cup 83 saw them not advance far either. World Cup 84 saw the debut of Lonzo Gordon-McHayward-Greensward-Squidward as South Covello again fell early in the knockout stages, and World Cup 85 featured several more new young players. Notably, it ffeatured 16 year old phenom Dodo McAllister, who can double as a striker and offensive midfielder, though he mostly cam off the bench and to provide some fresh legs and maybe lead a comeback. He is widely considered a successor to Pillory Cantwell once the latter retires. However, winger Nick Night is also highly regarded.

World Cup 85 was a deep disappointment, with the Rebels failing to qualify for the first time in ages, and the SCCF made it quite clear that Richard Hawkins will be out as head coach unless he can bring home the Cup of Harmony trophy. He did not, so former youth coach Gideon "Giddy" Luggnut was hired in his place. Following the Campeonato Esportiva, OMC Pillory Cantwell retired from international play, so youth phenom Dodo McAllister will become a full-time starter.

Following a disastrous World Cup 86, the Rebels again fired their coach, hired Elmo von Keekee, and drastically overhauled the team. Over half the roster for World Cup 87 was brand new so the Rebels will look to turn things around from their horrible performance a cycle ago when they didn't even make the Cup of Harmony. Alas, the Rebels failed to make the World Cup yet again, crashing out in the playoffs after leading their group almost wire to wire until a draw against Baggieland on the final matchday ruined things. This time, however, they did receive an invite to the Cup of Harmony but were eliminated in the group stage. However, the young squad showed talent and will look to improve in World Cup 88.

SuperNerd Wants To Fight Video Game And Computer Store Stadium, Riverview

Revolution Stadium opened to start World Cup 80 and usher in a new generation of South Covellan soccer. The stadium is located on the banks of the Goldenrod River, and fans will be able to arrive at the stadium by boat should they wish. As the river is navigable in the portions that run through San Jose Guayabal as well, this opens up the possibility that some visitng fans from that nation could visit if the two nations face each other. However, as San Jose Guayabal appears to have withdrawn from international competition for the time being, that seems unlikely for now.

As mentioned above, the stadium is far more intimate than the old one, seating a relatively small 42,000 fans, with ample space for supporters as well as a small number of visiting fans. The views from the stadium are immaculate, looking out over the Goldenrod Valley with the river in view as well. For games played in the fall, it will just be an amazing sight to behold, even ignoring what is going on with the game.

Prior to World Cup 88, SuperNerd Wants To Fight Video Game and Computer Store bought the naming rights to the stadium in a 75 million libero, 10-year deal. The contract will run through the end of World Cup 97. There was much outrage at this, with some fans printing "I'm Still Calling it The Rev" t-shirts, but the name is the name nonetheless. An article in Sports World Magazine called it the worst stadium sponsorship in the country, outranking Natural Gas of Reare-Henderson Stadium, a baseball stadium in the city of Reare sponsored by the local gas company that also serves the nearby town of Henderson.

Now here is the Athearan National Stadiums.
Image

Astena Stadium in the day, can hold up to 154.769 People. Originally the Stadium was to be constructed for the Astena Rangers Football Club, however since the ARFC had already invested to build a Stadium on their own, it was decided that the Athearan National Team would be able to use this new Stadium as a Home Base. This is where the Athearan National Team will hold their qualifiers.

Image

The Stadium was named after Naiferlitch Cossen, the first Athearan National Team Captain for the Argentina World Cup in 2030, where he was only 22 Years Old. He had died in 2048, after the game between Lesser Fordia and Major Fordia, where Major Fordia (his team) won. This is also to honor his great skill and at the time, how advanced in skill he was in Athearan football. To remember his honor. The stadium can hold 78.932 People.

Make sure to not try to piss off any Athearans by trashtalking while you visit, you don't want them to be chasing you around. It is also reccomended you wear winter clothing when visiting, the average temperature even at this time is around 14 Degrees Celcius, so warm up if you can. Also, many regions can give you cultural experiences. Make sure you know where you are, who you are talking to, and why they are there in the first place.

Banner/Seal/Logo made by Diarcesia, Kits made by Galeanna, thank you two!

• #15 Lazzari (Forward, 1764 years) [NP — Lazzari's play style is speckled with fire on top of intensity, and for a Central Striker, he has countless traits that belong to a defender, like being excellent at slide tackling and possessing a ball recovery rate of eighty-eight percent in his thirty nine appearances as a forward at The Stinemates United.] [RPaaS]

CURRENT PLAYERS (29) | [S] = Starting player, [i] = Injured, [LC] = Low Confidence, [RPaaS] = Regularly Plays as a Substitute, [R] = Reserve Team, [NP] = Notable Player, [c] = Captain, [RPLDaaS] = Regularly Played as a Substitute

• #5 Dargy (Defender, 2700 years) [RPaaS]
• #6 Germaine Sophie (Midfielder, 1800 years) [NP — An ex-gridiron player who is mostly known for how mindbogglingly stupid his post-game interviews in the World Bowl competitions of old came off as. His aggressiveness and playing style are a perfect showcase of how Sophie doesn't run it through before he acts. Although there is a difference when seeing someone having a natural talent for the creative and the unpredictable as opposed to making unconventional and idiotic blunders on the pitch, Germaine Sophie possesses both of these characteristics.] [RPaaS]
• #7 Abdill (Midfielder, 2400 years) [R]
• #8 Matkowski (Midfielder, 2400 years) [NP — Went to a training camp because of self-confidence issues and is now the primary choice for throw-ins. From Matkowski's impressive progress, he unknowingly coerced Dingledine that the more powerful a throw-in was, the more important to know who threw it in the first place. Looking into Matkowski's personal record, it's thirty five yards, at least ten more than the second longest distance by another countryman, Julio.][S]
• #9 Shamammi (Midfielder, 2700 years) [R]
• #10 Nankervis (Midfielder, 1950 years) [RPaaS]

• #16 Witrago (Midfielder, 1875 years) [R]
• #17 Rolke (Defender, 2625 years) [RPaaS]
• #18 Germain Sophie (Defender, 1050 years) [NP — Germaine Sophie's asexually reproduced son who starts on the pitch more often.] [S] [c]
• #19 Thorud (Defender, 2550 years) [S]
• #20 Rinnert (Forward, 2850 years) [RPaaS]
• #21 Higginbottom (Goalkeeper, 1800 years) [R]
• #22 Lertora (Goalkeeper, 2400 years) [NP — Once said, "Imagine being a goalkeeper with the jersey number 1 and still not starting.".] [S]
• #23 Rebimbas (Midfielder, 2550 years) [RPaaS]
• #26 Gerking (Midfielder, 1950 years) [R]
• #27 Swenty (Forward, 1800 years) [RPaaS]
• #28 Ogrodowski (Defender, 1875 years) [R]
• #29 Diminno (Midfielder, 2175 years) [NP — Diminno is known sarcastically by his dons as "the Mouthpiece Maestro", constantly spouting out rubbish motivational advice like, "We don't give up until the final ball!" or this bona-fide classic: "We have to venture through the rain to see the rainbow, because we're playing football outside.". His teammates follow his advice because they so desperately want him to shut the heck up.] [S]
• #30 Ponti (Midfielder, 2100 years) [S]
• #32 Knake (Goalkeeper, 3000 years) [R]
• #33 Pitter (Defender, 2550 years) [S]
• #35 Ratter (Midfielder, 1725 years) [R]

• #25 Manese (Midfielder, 2100 years) [NP — Will be out for an indefinite amount of time after sore jaw problems. Time with a sore jaw started roughly after his fatigued head fell into a deli sandwich with a toothpick sticking out the upper end of the ham and cheese melt. Manese was irresponsive after being asked, "You want some fries with that?" by his caring father. Resting in a recovery room at Mukladrue.] [R]
