NationStates's longest running international lacrosse competition is back. Throughout its storied history of 36 editions, 22 different nations have conquered to lift the most sought-after trophy in the sport, bringing pride to their nations and forging their own legacies. Cosumar and Sarzonia have the most medals of any team in history and Abanhfleft have the most gold medals in the history of the sport. Will Abanhfleft add to their dynasty or could your nation be next?

Post here to sign up for the tournament or bid to host. Being a traditionally smaller competition, the WLC is a great tournament for newer hosts to build their resume, but some experience with scorinators such as xkoranate and RPing on this forum is highly recommended.

This OP will also count for Sarzonia's sign-up.

Active member nations: This is also the final WLC for Sarzonia as President and Baker Park as Vice President. Sarzonia will NOT run for another term as President after having served two terms pursuant to the WLC Constitution. Please nominate any potential candidates for the Presidency or the Vice Presidency in the discussion thread listed below.

BID:
The Baker Park Lacrosse Association, the governing body for the sport, submits a bid to host the 37th edition of the World Lacrosse Championships in the Commonwealth.

The Commonwealth of Baker Park is a diverse country of over 52 million inhabitants, proud of our heritage and our place in the multiverse as a member nation in Atlantian Oceania; we believe that we have been fortunate that all of our endeavors in NS Sports have seen our teams compete on level terms with the great sporting nations.

Hosting experience: Baker Park Open Cup I & II, AOCAF 58 (co-hosted with Banija), World Cup 84 (co-hosted with Cassadaigua), SWC 11 Under-18 World Championship, WLC 31, AOLC 2,

Proposed formats:
single round robin formats would be daily with possibility of free day during group stage, and every other day during knockout stages.

20 teams—four groups of 5 teams each, single round robin, with the top 2 in each group, along with the 2 best 3rd placed finishers advancing to the knockout stage; the top 2 sides seeded into to the quarterfinal.

22 teams—two groups of 6 teams each and two groups of 5, with the top 3 finishers from the six team groups and the top 2 from the five teams groups advancing; same knockout format as the 20 team single round robin proposal. (Non-Optimal)

24 teams—four groups of 6 teams each, single round robin, top 3 finishers advancing to the knockout stage; group winners seeded into the quarterfinal,

Any other configuration of number of participants would be variations of the above.

Scorination: standard xkorinate formula, using the official WLC rankings.
tie-breakers would be head to head points, head to head goal difference, overall goal difference, goals scored, and coin flip (OOC extra tie-breaking match). No drawn matches during group stage (OT in all matches). 2 points for a win, 1 point for an OT loss.

RP: roster bonus, plus daily RP based on factors of quality, length and story. All RP bonus will be accumulative throughout.

Questions/Comments on a postcard....
