"Imagines que tu nommes ton gamin 'Bonheur' mais une fois il est grandi, il n'est bon que pour faire chier les gens."

The muttering in les licornes' locker room had only grown as they had gone through training and begun the tournament. When Bonheur Relié had originally been hired as Reçueçn's assistant manager, there had been friction between him and the team. Tremblay and he had been good cop and bad cop respectively, but as time passed Tremblay began to realize that having his assistant act as a complete foil to him was not good for team cohesion. No one on the team ever found out, but he held a private conversation with Relié and basically asked him to chill out. The team did manage to get along better as they entered more tournaments and spent more time together.

But Tremblay's resignation, announced just before the end of World Cup qualifying, had thrown the team into an existential crisis. Everyone had been put on edge, and Reçueçn flunking its playoff and subsequently bombing out of the Cup of Harmony only amplified the negative energy. Old tensions resurfaced, and performance continued to suffer.

Relié had essentially been promoted from assistant manager to head manager upon Tremblay's retirement, although his title did have the word 'interim' stuck onto the front of it. Ägidius Heissler, who had been brought on in the position of paraclete (one recently invented by Tremblay himself), slipped into the role of assistant manager as Relié vacated it. Heissler, who had been on the team himself and whom many of the current players still remembered as a former teammate, was much more popular than Relié. Ironically, no one was more aware of the damage that the team's favoritism was doing to itself, but there was little he could do to make Relié more popular, and making himself less popular was not an attractive course of action.

Thus it was that the gossip and backbiting about Relié began to spread. Wordplay on his first name ('happiness,' when translated) and on his inability to live up to that name was not uncommon.

The fact that the first two games of the IAC had gone by without a victory for Reçueçn only added fuel to the fire. The players blamed everything purely on Relié, although for the moment they stopped short of accusing him in press conferences. Instead, they grumbled among themselves and muttered under their breaths in the locker-room. A few of the players were aware how much the terrible attitude was hurting their chances. Firaut tried his best to stop it, as did Kayserling. Heissler pulled a couple people aside at times to try to convince them that they would need to get along with their manager if they wanted to have a chance to do well. But it was no use. As the team walked down the tunnel to come out for their match against Murphtannia, no one spoke to each other. They walked with heads down, kicking the floor. Perhaps they would win. But there was no spark of hope.

Red Panjias get off to ridiculous start as Makana Tuft produced 2 hat-tricks in opening 2 games
As reported by Sporting Daily

Almuzahara - Red Panjias' defence of the Independent Associations Championship title begun in style after producing a grand total of 14 goals against North Alezia and Quintessence of Dust, setting for themselves a new record in a official match, and producing what captain Shakira Handris terms as "an unbelivable opening".

Having been given the number 1 card, Poafmersia will be playing all their matches at Hassan Conceição Memorial Field, and was spared the difficulties of having to get used to multiple pitches. But it seemed that the team didn't need any form of that familiarity in the opening match against newcomers North Alezia. From the kickoff, it was clear that the opponents were here for real business. Employing long balls (apparently the nation's favourite, given their history) and counter-attack strategies, they were determined to ensure that they could get at least a point on their toughest fixture in the group. But Adnan Suliaha was having none of this. With the team playing 3-4-3, with Daas Taisg and Gisiik Moonar in the middle of the field, the goals quickly tumbled in by the 10th minute, as Moonar exposed a gap between Yubliq Dawridan and Aziz Samaruddin to slide a through ball through to Makana Tuft, who then tapped the ball in to give the defending champions the lead. Tuft has been outstanding over the past few months domestically or internationally, helping Dalaris City to score numerous goals along the way. It was said that his club teammate, Aleka Dufour, was supposed to be in the squad, by a thigh injury ruled him out of the competition. Anyway, it would be Joel Haodao that utilised some chaos in the opposition defence to regain posession and dribbled the ball all the way into the box, where he shoved the ball to the top right corner to prevent Shekov Daraeim from reaching it. At the 32nd minute, captain Handris added a goal for himself, this time, with brilliant cooperation from Haodao and Tuft. Haodao took the ball forward and passed it back to Dargis Walshor, and Walshor then made a overhead pass. The ball reached the right side of the pitch, and Tuft was there to grab the ball. Running towards goal, he faked a shot to make Daraeim dive, but instead passed it to the waiting Handris who just simply had to tap the ball in past a stunned keeper who was absolutely fooled by that action. Makana Tuft later made a true solo run for a whole 15 yards to score the 4th goal in the closing minutes of the first half, giving Poafmersia a 4-0 lead by half time.

With no sign of putting the breaks on, it would be Haodao and Handris who once again do a one-two passing. Iqlab Khalifaruddin tried to snatch the ball, but Haodao was too fast for him, and as they moved towards the box, it was Handris who first struck. The ball hit the post, but Handris got the ball, steered it into position, then passed it to the waiting Haodao who just had to curve the ball in. 16 minutes later, it would be Daas Taisg who took a long-range ball to find Makana Tuft, and Tuft headed the ball in to get his first hat-trick of the tournament. A header from a corner by Mitchel Rosales, as well as a late goal by Handris (with an assist by Aubrey Mayer), rounded up the match.

Next up, it was against the Qunitessence of Dust. Rosales and Sanchez made a good job of stopping Jack Ryder from getting in an early goal in the 11th minute, with Rosales man-marking the man, forcing him to curve the ball in the wrong direction, and Sanchez was there to stop the ball from reaching Nicole Potts, who started in goal. After that, it was a bloody shitshow as Makana Tuft and Pete Carisa, assisted by Dalaris City midfielder Arnold Shwentin and captain-of-the-day Haodao allowed Poafmersia to ramp up to a 2-0 win in 37 minutes. After the break, it was Haodao who got a screamer in from 30 yards, before yet another speculative shot from Tuft gave the Red Panjias a 4-0 lead. After that, the midfield was just brilliant and controlling the game, and with 9 minutes to spare, Dargis Walshor made a improbable cross that somehow managed to find Tuft, and Tuft somehow managed to get the ball in from a weird angle to give himself his second hat-trick of the tournament. A late free-kick was taken by Pete Carisa, and against a wall of 4 man, he somehow managed to lob the ball in such an angle that it got past the hands of Henning Olesen.

Poafmersia next play Treekidistan, the Baptism of Fire 74 champion, looking to secure dominance of the group, and hopefully, qualification for the Round of 16, ahead of a tricky fixture against familiar opponents, Squornshelan Remnant States. Adnan Suliaha has made no secret of his plan to rotate even more players, letting younger players take the lead this time for the tournament.

Bumps in the Road
Salwan Mynhier; CONCEIÇÃO, Almuzahara

After a much more lackluster effort in their second match, the Black-and-Reds sit second in the group with four points. In contrast to the first match's fluid attacking movement, the team seemed unable to deal with the tactics employed by the Britlandish side. While unfamiliarity likely played a role, that can hardly be a valid excuse for a team with serious knockout ambitions. The lone Confederate goal was scored by Starosta, a positive sign for the Soute-born winger after a frustrating domestic season with Damogran. He made a run forward onto the end of a long throw-in by Storsjo, then cut inside and back out before finishing near post.

Up next is Quintessence of Dust, who have taken a single point from their matches thus far, but should not be judged by their terrible goal differential. Poafmersia, whom the Black-and-Reds will face in matchday 4, have shown an unmerciful tendency to run up the score, posting wins by 8-0 and 6-0 thus far. Looking ahead to that tall task, the importance of a good result here becomes very clear, both to gain points against a less formidable opponent, and to build momentum. It's definitely a stretch to call it a close showdown, as the best of the first seeds and worst of the second seeds will meet, but this is the IAC after all. Craziness is definitely encouraged, and any given matchday, anything could happen.

ALMUZAHARA - North Alezian team is currently participating in the International Associations Cup. In this cup, the country faced huge amounts of drama after the first match resulted in not just a loss, but one of North Alezia's biggest losses in the history of their football team. North Alezian internet got divided over the drama, that it got so big, some celebrities got pulled into it.

However, that was against Poafmersia. On the next two games, North Alezia earns much more success by winning over two consecutive teams.
First up, the match between North Alezia against Treekidistan, earning a 1-0 victory. And that goal is thanks to Michael Saratov's goal with assistance from Khalid Ali'amaqqi at the 27th minute. The goal is met with North Alezian audience who were actually feeling not very well about their team going crazy. Flying North Alezian flag, "SHA-MAL,SHA-MAL,SHA-MAL" (North Alezian chant, Shamal means North in Arabic.)

The next game, North Alezia is much more dominating. The match against Britland Isles proves to be much successful 2-0 victory. First goal is in 38th minute, where Tazal Pameshkovich kicked a long ball, which is what the North Alezian team mainly focuses on, and it breaks through the goalkeeper. The second goal is less elegant, but just as important. Khalid Ali'amaqqi kicked a short shot at the 72nd minute at the opponent's goalpost, which once again resulted in a goal.

With these results, North Alezia is now positioned at third place behind Poafmersia and Squornshelan Remnant States. North Alezia is still scheduled to go against Quintessence of Dust and Squornshelan Remnant States. North Alezia needs to keep this line of victories up in order to qualify to the next round where only sixteen teams may go on.

These series of victories are met with high applaud of the people. They are definitely proud that their team returned to form even with the drama. And that can be proven with a person's comment on twitter after the match.

What the hell happened to Tyra Volam? After she did her whole kneeling thing obviously they were gonna make Lagerkron pull her out of the match, but she wasn't on the bench later on, and now she's not even listed on the roster anymore not moved to the reserves or listed inactive. They just had Martikainen starting against Galimencia and only two subs listed. She's just fuckin gone! Is there anyone in #poronaysk who has seen her since then? #wherestyra

IAC 12: Omerica and Huelavia must have had karma transplants
By Anastasia Saint-Martin

Six years on from Omerica and Huelavia’s last meeting at the Independent Associations Championship, in a match infamous for its questionable decisions, the two nations are meeting yet again at the “championship for the rest of us” and boy have things changed since then. At IAC 9, Huelavia were the hosts—where they managed to do things such as inexplicably cock up Omerica’s piss-easy trigramme—, while Omerica had just been crowned champions four years prior and were looking to bounce back after an early exit in Reçueçn. Now, Huelavia have established themselves as the new Drawkland: the team that perennially gets to the grand final, but simply cannot actually win it (note that Drawkland did win IAC 6, but that grand final finished in a draw). On the other hand, Omerica have been stuck in a rut and haven’t won a knockout game since winning the Championship in Drawkland and haven’t even appeared in a knockout game since IAC 8.

Surely then, karma indicates that Huelavia should be walking this group. Lady Luck simply cannot be cruel enough to let them lose four consecutive grand finals without there being some kind of reward at the end of it. And given that Omerica were not even properly represented at the last Championship—namely due to controversies over club tournaments, player safety and the awarding of host rights—, the Incorrigibles ought to be smacked by everyone and their mother as karmic retribution. Thus far, that has not happened: Omerica have been setting the pace from the start, while Huelavia are left picking up the pieces after a stunning upset.

The Incorrigibles started the Championship at the Alexandrovsk-Sakhalinsky Arena in Sahalena-Urbeto—where they will be playing all five of their group games thanks to being drawn in first position—with an unbelievable eight-goal thrashing of Central Shaneville. It was only the second time in history that Omerica had scored eight goals in a match (the other being a World Cup qualifying clash with Wolfbenz decades ago) and the first time Omerica had kept a clean sheet while scoring five or more goals. Alexis Chrysanthos bagged themself a hat trick, Jamal Ahmad scoring twice and Thom Magalhães, Alphonse Notley and Fearchar Mac Cléirich all found the back of the net. For their part, Huelavia had a much more modest win over the oddball team from HSOWA at the Spartak Stadium Okcidenta-Havenurbo, with Marc Navarro and Gabriella Grünberg easily despatching a team of literal birds.

But Central Shaneville got their redemption at the Tomari Stadium, stunning a second-string Huelavia by snagging a late equaliser from David Vujanic. Omerica’s win over Al Wadiya—again at the Alexandrovsk-Sakhalinsky Arena—was much more muted than the bombshell drubbing of Central Shaneville. Fielding all the outfield players who sat out against Central Shaneville, the Incorrigibles snagged an early lead at the feet of Malcolm Beauchesne and were never in much danger of losing it. Match captain Antoine Vicario expressed some frustration at the small margin of victory, but the overwhelming sense of relief that the Incorrigibles were firmly in the drivers’ seat in the race for the knockout stage.

So with Huelavia finally coming to Sahalena-Urbeto, we have to ask: is karma dead? Fearchar Mac Cléirch poignantly pointed out the unease in the Omerica camp when he said “I just hope we don’t embarrass ourselves here. It would be karmic after what happened two years ago if we just shat the bed.” So far we have not. Both nations have had similar schedule strengths thus far and have yet to play the group’s single greatest spoiler in Devonta, so who has played who cannot explain why the results are different. In all likelihood, it may be the fact that Huelavia have played a second-string side in their first two games, but Omerica played a second string against Al Wadiya and walked away with a win.

We’re simply stumped. Whatever is responsible for this bizarre state of events will surely reveal itself in Sahalena-Urbeto. If karma is truly dead, God save Huelavia. But if we know the random number gods and Alexis Stephanidis’s track record, Lady Luck is just setting us up for a tragic fall. ◇

MD3 cutoff - will you rise to the top of the tables, or head to the bottom?
Host Note: Just a reminder that as specified in our host bid, after the conclusion of the IAC, an exhibition match between two teams composed of players from participating nations will be contested, with one team representing players from Muralos’ side of the bracket, and the other representing players from Almuzahara’s side of the bracket. If you would like specific players to be represented or not represented, leave an OOC note in your RP to submit them for our consideration; however, we will be considering all players in the tournament by default.

RED RADIO A-GO-GO
ITS JUST THE SAME OLD SHOW

Part 4/6: Factory-5.177, Tǔ, The Fèixū of Huaite

There are migrant workers from Tequilo all over the known multiverse, and in many of the sixteen corners of the as-yet unknown multiverse, each with their little state-issued red radio. Far far away in a land called Huaite, Luisa de Çiruela keeps hers in her desk draw of her classroom, and sometimes plays it to the children when they are having their Costelloan language lesson.

Nowadays, we don't speak of the great sprawling factories that secretly manufactured Kirola leisurewear and some of the most famous football strips of World Cup history - and in Audioslavia, they would sue you if you even suggested the Eurans won a World Cup in Kirola kits made by tiny children who weren't even permitted to know where Eura was. Kirola are no more. If Ediraf are using Factory-5.177, they are keeping it well out of sight. Luisa hasn't seen a purple kit running off the mills here, although certainly she can attest to children in her classroom with suspiciously indigo hands. And here they all are now, in between shifts, coming to class for their obligatory school lessons, from where they collect their vouchers for dinner if the teacher thinks they have been good enough. Luisa always gives them their dinner vouchers. She has made it her personal mission to make sure they at least have one hot meal a week. And today, an extra treat - they will all listen to the Agave-Blues playing Trolleborg in the IAC, because she has turned them into avid followers of Los Pitxileros. She turns up the volume, and the Tequilo World Service comes through loud and clear, as if they were broadcasting from next door.

There is a good reason why the average radio manufacturer has failed to reproduce the success of the little red radio in Tequilo; why adoption is now entirely with the A-Go-Go model and there has been virtually no market access for any other tech manufacturer: the supremely effective and government-patented power battery that runs a charge to the ultra-high multiversal frequency receiver, or UMF. Now, as much as I'd love to give you a long and extremely complicated explanation of how the little fluid time battery inside the red radio folds a microdot blackhole inside out to send an endless trickle of amps to the power-thirsty UMF - whilst at the same time counterbalancing the preposterous weight of the superdense microdot by feeding a Kaluza-Klein tower of particles concurrently to the upper- and under-space dimensions through the battery, thus giving it a rational weight of about 1.7 grams in this reality - I am not sure how to achieve that without boring the entire set of pants off you, rivets and all. What I can assert with some confidence, and a long history of evidence, is that the little red radio never runs out of power, and has absolute crystal clear reception back home to Tequilo, no matter where the radio is in the multiverse. Why, I even have one playing now on my office desk - and I'm in a different reality entirely: it works perfectly. That's how I know Tequilo are only one win from the knockout stages of the current IAC.

"Repeat after me, children, stalemate... STALE... MMMMMM... EIGHT... STALEMATE... very good! Very good, children! Lê Lệ Quân - you sound like a professional sports commentator! Well done. And now, say Bore-draw... that's it... borrrrrrrre-drawwwwwwwww."

Player of the Match: Aien Troger (Trolleborg); Tequilo MVP - Emmanuel París

NIL-NIL AT THE NOVI
Two high pressing attacking teams cancelled each other out in this stalemate that will suit Tequilo more than it will the Trolls, with Sannyamathland losing to the Picksall Islands and failing to take advantage - leaving Tequilo still out in front at the top of group F, and knowing victory in the next match will be enough to secure passage into the knockout rounds; Trolleborg face Abanhfleft next and that means at least one will drop points, so the job can be wrapped up with a win over the unpredictable White Lions. That will not be a given, however, with Sannyamathland more than capable of giving Los Pitxileros a headache. Juan Manuel Botín's team will do well to defend as they have in the last three games, including this one, with three clean sheets - an unusual haul for the attacking side - forming the bedrock for a good tournament so far. Reliable number one Oscar Bienvenida took an early knock and was replaced by Abas Juanarena for his international debut, and he carried on the good work between the sticks, while Emmanuel París was the standout right back in a formidable-looking defence. The midfield and attack played their part in the high press, harrassing Trolleborg out of any meaningful possession whilst being unable to make real inroads toward the Trolls goal. It was a technical masterclass in defence from both teams, but not very easy on the eye for the neutral. Juan Manuel Botín will take it though.

A potential qualification opportunity comes next but coach Juan Manuel will be without his keeper for at least the two remaining group games following injury, which will be disappointing for Oscar as his bid to reach the record caps for his country, currently 80 held by striker Tlacolotl, will remain on hold at 79 caps so far. He'll be hoping Abas Juanarena and the boys can do the job to get him into the latter rounds of this tournament where a two-game return would break that appearance record. While coach Botín will be happy to have José Tavia back in his starting defence, he'll have to do without his other defensive leader (along with Oscar) in Tol Chicote, who will not be ready to return. Diogo Junco has had a fine start to his international career in his stead and will start again against Sannyamathland. Milan Lucio is preferred to Pedro Rôa up front, and that is likely for his leadership qualities as much as anything, with both his natural captains, Oscar and Tol, sitting out the next match.

Galimencia 2-3 Lorrana

THE TAKEAWAY: Nine-man Lorrana held on for a thrilling 3-2 victory over Galimencia in a chaotic IAC12 match at Gastello Giants Indoor Park

In an eventful first half, Lorrana raced into a 2-0 lead as Berd Ravilu slotted home before Kiyon's low shot from an angle deflected off one of Galimencia's defenders for an own goal.

Galimencua halved the deficit with a finish from an acute angle, but Kiyon capitalised on a poor defensive mistake to score from outside the box at the end of first half stoppage time.

The chaos did not stop in the second half - Galimencia cut Lorrana's lead with a spectacular long-range free-kick in the 48th minute before Lorrana's Maor Po'qi saw red for a needless second yellow card two minutes later.

Galimencia hit the post twice as they searched for a leveller, and after Lorrana saw Em'du Em'kava and Berd Ravilu hobble off injured in the first half, Irti Ramük was also forced off to add to their injury crisis and see them go down to nine men.

But Ikot Anop's side held on for a battling victory which seemed against the odds early in the second half, and the result means Lorrana are up to 1st following their second win in three games. Galimencia is in last place, with 0 points.

Independents Cup: Kaykali hits back at critics

Adab manager Saad Kaykali has blasted critics who accused him of neglecting the national team's defense during their Independents Cup 12 campaign.

Taking to the press conference following Adab's 3-3 draw against Grey Country, which left the Adabians in fourth place in Group E and saw their chances at qualifying for the Round of 16 further diminish, Kaykali defended his team's playing and accused critics of "wanting too much" from the newly-assembled team.

"Look, the national team has just returned to the field after 13 years," the Adab manager said in response to a question from The Adabian Times' Harun Sharif regarding the team's mixed performance in the competition. "Mr. [Adab Football Association President Naram-Sin] Araqasdah and I have agreed that for now the team's priority is to gain experience, to play as well as possible, and to stay fit. We still have the World Cup to look forward to."

While praising Adab's attacking play, many critics feel that this has been accomplished at the expense of defense, leaving the team vulnerable to counterattacks. The team has drawn two matches in a row - the previous one being a 2-2 draw against Ginadjkrum - following their 2-1 loss against Kohnhead.

In this latest match, the Adabians had taken the lead in the 29th minute courtesy of a header by Enlilbani Yargab, but Grey Country retaliated with a splendid goal in the 44th minute, which they followed with another in the 57th minute.

Now down 1-2, the Adabians responded with a concerted attack on Grey Country, which bore fruit when Jushur Al-Kufa went right past a wall of Grey Country defenders to score in the 69th minute and once again level the score.

As the match dragged on, however, the Adabian team - a mixture of young stars and veteran players - began to run out of steam. Grey Country capitalized on the resulting gaps in the Adabian defense to blast the ball past keeper Mohammed Marramzi in the 81st minute, and it took an injury-time intervention by veteran striker Yargab to salvage a draw for Adab.

In the press conference, however, Kaykali dismissed concerns that the team was not well-equipped to deal with counterattacks.

"This is a new team," Kaykali said. "This is their first tournament and they are learning, and they are learning well. The younger players especially have shown their mettle. This match could have ended with a loss."

"If we win 1-0 then you critics would be accusing us of playing boring football. Instead we gave you attacking, attractive football per tradition," the Adab manager added.

Looking forward to Indusse

Adab's next match will be against fifth-placed Indusse. The Indusseans have sustained two losses and a draw and are yet to win a single match in the group so far.

Nevertheless, Kaykali cautioned against underestimating the team. "They are an excellent team and I told my players to watch out for them, to keep an eye on them. Particularly we have to watch out for [Antonio] Mersias and [Baskar] Kumar," he said.

Before leaving the press conference, Kaykali confirmed that he has agreed to renew his contract for the match against Indusse. "I have called Mr. Araqasdah and the contract has been extended for the Indusse match. I will sign it within the next few hours."

Kaykali agreed to a one-match contract before returning to his job as Adab manager, subject to renewal or expiration after every match.

CENTRAL SHANEVILLE AND CAM MEISTER CELEBRATE "STATEMENT" WIN
The final whistle blows and the Central Shaneville team as well as boss Cam Meister were running round and hugging each other following the team's first win in 8 matches, a sense of relief was felt around the Central Shaneville camp as Cam Meister declared "the curse to be temporarily lifted" as he celebrated with his players.

The game itself, in Muralos, was complete Central Shaneville domination as the secretive Devonta played a very "safe" style of football that Central Shaneville was easy to crush with its customary attacking football, at the end of the match Cam Meister said in an interview "I'm not sure if the other teams in the group paid attention to that but we will keep trundling along picking up results when we can, maybe we will get through as a best 3rd place team or something but I feel even that is ambitious right now, we will have to see."

Josh Smith added a hat-trick to his name with a long range effort and 2 set pieces to his name from this game whilst David Vujanic scored his second header of the tournament which has caused some Central Shaneville fans to sing (in a joking sense) that Vujanic only scores header, despite this: Central Shaneville are ready to move on to their next matchday as their journey in the Independents Cup 12 is kept alive...for now at least.

HUElavia Suffers and Earns Statement Victory!

Omerica 0-1 HUElavia
(Guilbert 87')
(Spartak Stadium Okcidenta-Havenurbo, Okcidenta-Havenurbo)

After the opening two matches in the IAC for HUElavia, the team was with a decent victory over HSOWA and a bitter draw with Central Shaneville to their name. Thus, the team was left wanting something more after having 4 points (out of 6 possible) and in 3rd Place behind Omerica and Devonta, whom both of them had 6 Points to their start of the tournament. Their next opponents was a familiar one: Omerica. These two nations had met in IAC 8, which resulted in an Omerican victory, and IAC 9, which resulted in a HUElavian victory. This match was one of the most attractive and anticipated of the Group Stage in IAC 12, and now these two finally met once again. The match was set to be played at Spartak Stadium Okcidenta-Havenurbo (27,800) in Okcidenta-Havenurbo. The stadium was sold-out with a split 50/50 support for HUElavia and Omerica alike. Both teams decided to use their Main XI for the match, and in the case of HUElavia, Ramos started in goal once again, and Navarro was the Captain for the team. Omerica wore their Home Uniform, while HUElavia opted with the Home Alternative Uniform. Once the anthems were played to a passionate singing from the crowd and the coin was flipped, the ball was kicked off and the match was under way!

From the start, both teams played with a strong sense of attacking, with Omerica going heavy on attack, while HUElavia played with a more calculated and precise style of it. The opening chance came in the 14th minute, when a deflection of the ball from Sepulveda gave way for Sol to get the ball and make a run towards Agustin. Sol took the shot and it narrowly missed, hitting the side of the net. Omerica had their chances, with the first notable chance coming in the 17th minute, where Chrysanthos getting past Mendieta and going one-on-one with Ramos, who ran quick to catch the ball and curl up to keep it safe. While both teams had attacked enough to give scares to each other, there was no score coming through, and there was an air of tension in the stadium, as both teams knew a goal can very much change the projection of the group for each other. At halftime, the score read 0-0.

In the second half, both teams made a substitution, with Nazario in for Gagne-Leblanc for HUElavia and Fontaine in for Fournier for Omerica. Both teams continued attacking, but narrow misses and saves or deflections from Ramos and Agustin alike kept the scoreline at 0-0. Time ticked away, and the fans kept singing and cheering but tension kept up rising, with both teams playing hard to open up each others' defense. After two more substitutions by each team, it was now now-or-never for both team. In the 87th minute, a counter attack was started by HUElavia when Argyris was dispossessed by Mariño and a long ball was sent to Navarro, who began running on the left flank, only to be taken down by Charles. The referee blew her whistle and gave Charles a yellow card and called for a free kick, that was 35 yards out. Guilbert opted to take the kick while the rest of the players were more into the box, expecting a cross to be given. The referee blew her whistle to resume play, and Guilbert took a blistering shot that went over the players and out of reach from a falling Agustin, as it blasted into the top corner of the goal to make it 1-0. The HUElavian section of the stadium erupted, where the fans celebrated with screaming and jumping, making the stadium rumble from the celebrations. Guilbert celebrated with the bench and his teammates, as it truly was a gutsy call for him to go for such a distance, only for it to pay off. Additional time came shortly after and in the added time of 5 minutes, Omerica was putting a strong attack and pressure on the HUElavians. In the final 30 seconds of the game, a corner was taken by Beckett and it curved into the box only for it to reach Thyme and head the ball. For a moment it looked as if it would go into the goal, but Ramos pounced on it and stopped it on the line itself. There was no indication of goal and the referee blew the whistle to end the match there. Ramos was hugged and congratulated by her teammates as the fans jumped and cheered for the spectacular final minutes of the match. HUElavia won 1-0, and now had strong confidence to finish off the Group Stage.

With the victory, HUElavia jump up to 1st Place with 7 Points (2-1-0), followed by Omerica with 6 Points (2-0-1), and Devonta in 3rd Place with 6 Points (2-0-1) as well. It is Devonta whom Los Amarillos/Os Amarelos will face off against on Matchday 4, with the match being played at Alexandrovsk-Sakhalinsky Arena (21,484) in Saĥalena-Urbeto. HUElavia could advance directly to the Round-of-16 on Matchday 4 if they win against Devonta AND Omerica wins against Hot Skitty on Wailord Action. Said result would give HUElavia enough points to clinch the knockout stage, which at the moment is 10 points. Due to this possibility, the A-Team will be playing once again, with Ramos in goal and Navarro as the Captain. The Away Uniform will be used for the match, given that HUElavia will be the away team against Devonta. In the home base for HUElavia, the team is training well and acclimating to the cool climate in Muralos. On top of that, the Psychological sessions are going well for the team as the players seem more confident and know that getting the victory is the upmost important thing for the team, even if it isn't achieved by massive scorelines. Regardless, this team is enjoying their time in the IAC and there is a burning desire by the players to succeed in this tournament. But first, they must get through the Group Stage, and Devonta is only on their minds at the moment. The fans also continue to enjoy their stay and enjoy the local culture and cuisine of the country, and they look forward towards flocking to Sahalena-Urbeto in the coming days to cheer on Los Amarillos/Os Amarelos. Here's to the next match!

FORCA HUELAVIA! VAMOS HUELAVIA! GO HUELAVIA!

After a 1-2 against Japerlasa the Kriegiersien team had lost not only the the match in the People Stadium of Aragenradnab City in Islansi, but also the title of Champion of Balder and with that the Sumerset Cup.
There was not much time to grieve.

After a short stopover in Almuzahara were they draw 0-0 in the IAC against Montaña Verde, they hasted to Zeta Reka and Hugeltaldom to play the Junior World Cup, were they won 1:0 against Lorrana.
On their flight they watched the match for the third place in the World Cup of Masters, were the Kriegiersien Seniors beat Lorranas Oldies with 3:0, making it a double kill for Kriegiersien against Lorrana at the day.

After the match they hasted back to Amuzahara, trying to learn the details about their next opponent Sajnur on the flight.

“I felt more stressed as in school”, said striker Eetu Peerson.
“Mainly because I missed all tests in school because of playing soccer.”

The Silver Standard
Silver Beach's #1 source for news!

Sonnel's champions currently sit in first place in their group at the IACs with rivalry win over IAC 12 hosts Almuzahara

Image
Silverian players celebrate a goal in their 1-0 road win at IAC 12 against Almuzahara

ALTHUWAR, ALMUZAHARA- The Silverians are on the edge of the knockout stages here at IAC 12. Being drawn to play in Almuzahara, on one hand, they got a favorable draw for this tournament by being able to stay in Sonnel. Don't have to travel far from home, it's an easier trip for our fans. But the unfortunate thing, is that we were drawn with the hosts. We played them in the 7 Nations Cup- we know exactly how tough of an opponent they are. But we shocked the multiverse by becoming champions of Sonnel. And then we defended our cup against the Upper Sunrise Islands in the thug final.

The IAC is a whole different level of competition though. An equivalent to the major regionals(AOCAF/Copa Rushmori/Campianato Esportiva), it is functionally the World Cup for a nation like Silver Beach. We don't participate in WCC tournaments anymore- the skill simply isn't here for it. But we still love the game, love the sport. So here we are. A big time, competitive rivalry match in the second straight cycle. What happened here?

Well, we have a history with Almuzahara. They eliminated us from this very tournament a few years ago, knocking us out on our butts in the group stages, while they advanced to the knockouts, almost out of nowhere. And then, we got our revenge at the 7 Nations Cup. A semifinal win thanks to national hero Natalie Lachmann vaulted us to a final, where we'd eventually win our first trophy in two centuries.

But what happened on the pitch today? What seperated the two teams, how was Silver Beach able to earn the 1-0 win on Almuzahara's home soil? It was not as thunderous or exciting a game as these two teams have had in the past. You did not have to look past the armband wearer to find the goal. Orin Set, heading home in the 35th minute. The Silverians holding on, with our midfield in particular playing excellently, as we defended with depth against a host nation that was looking for their first win of the tournament. Instead, Silver Beach vaulted to the top of the group, while we sent our regionals rivals spiraling towards the bottom of the group.

We have two games left in group play. 10 points will get us through for sure- but can we get a win and a draw? It will be difficult. Neither Murphtannia nor Reçueçn will be easy opponents for us. Especially Reçueçn. What'sthe best track here? Going all out for a victory against Murphtannia. If we can get to 9 points, that should be enough to put us to the next stage, regardless of our result against Reçueçn. But if we draw, or lose? Then that Matchday 5 match will loom large, and we will be heavy underdogs in our fight to get to the knockouts of this grand tournament.

Is the next stage achievable at this tournament? We shall see soon enough.

So far and so good for Space in Muralos. In the three games so far in Independent Associations Championship 12 Space is the team that does very well, always winning each of these games. Here we can take a look at the result.

For the first it will also be the best result for Space. The opponent for the first game is Oscioru. It is not a team where Space is familiarity and this is for the best because Space is hurting feelings all day long for Oscioru. Four goals is a lot and it is one of the best result achieved for Space in the history of the Independent Associations Championship, but it was not the best result on this day. In Group C the other strong team was New Lusitania and the Algarves who are winning 5-0 over Hebitaka. Hebitaka is not a team Space is sharing warm feelings for. In Group B Poafmersia did 8-0 over North Alezia.

In the second match Space defeats Fujai 1-0. It was only a close match but a good match for Space to win. Having placement over Fujai provides for Space the opportunity to advance to the elimination round. Taking first place in Group C is falling from the reach of Space just because New Lusitania and the Algarves winning another 5-0 results. They play Oscioru scoring one extra goal than Space scores on the first match.

Finally, it is match 3 and again Space is the winner. 2-0 over Gadhavi. The best news for space is the astronauts are winning games. Also, Space have not been scored upon in any match so far. In the same way it is New Lusitania and the Algarves, also not being scored upon at all. This team have over two times more goals than Space and it will be a challenge for Space to take a victory and points over the team in first place now. Soon the truth will be known.

The Itō No. 5 - Kuritibah

The Squidroidian national team entered the game against underdogs Srednjaci with their metronomes ticking. Yes, the TJUN-ia game wasn't what Adam Johnson's men hoped, but if anything it strengthened their case to advance to the knockout stage. The road from here was just smooth sailing - Srednjaci, Montaña Verde and Sajnur, who they faced in their first IAC campaign down in Omerica, were supposed to be easy, a smooth few games before the real games resumed again in the last 16. They just didn't know how good the Inklings were on the day until the 90 minutes elapsed. They were, perhaps... Too good.

5 goals. That had only happened once in Squidroidia's history up to this point with Adam Johnson's national team - Against the Gothanita Isles in Baptism of Fire 73. It was an utter outclassing by the Squidroidian national team, thumping their enemies with stunning fashion. Takemoto Shingen got his 2nd clean sheet in 3 games under the Barunian as he stopped every shot the opposition gave to him, a team that "despairingly needed to win" to have any chance of making the IAC knockout rounds. Every. Single. Shot. No hope there for Srednjaci to win.

On the other end of the pitch, however, it was all a Squidroidian masterclass. Makino Hideo did most of the work to get the Squidroidian machine rolling, scoring the game opener early on (We're talking 4th minute here) and helping orchestrate the attack on the final third. It was especially good for the midfield, as Yoneda Toshikuni got himself a couple of assists and the third goal of the game 12 minutes into the second half. But this would mainly be Sho Itō's day above all, as he got himself a hat trick against a weak defense that refused to stop him, or perhaps he refused to stop in front of the defense, scoring goals in the 28th, 63rd and 79th minute to bag his ball. The Itō No. 5.

This outclassed win for the team, however, once again sparked conversations within the SFA about where to go. So far Adam Johnson's Squidroidia team had scored 9 goals in 3 matches and only conceded 2 goals (Both against the Jags of TJUN-ia), which may or may not come down to 2 factors - Either the new manager was giving his players a spark of energy they so desperately needed, or the indies were of a poorer standard. The clubs were aiming for the latter after the thumping win. They needed more of a challenge, and if anything that challenge was going to come further down the road. Montaña Verde were probably going to be an easy team to dispatch, and Sajnur are a known quantity. All the real action was going to come in the knockout stages and the knockout stages only.

The SFA's member clubs thought the IAC was a cakewalk. And they were wanting that to change. The last thing they wanted was for Squidroidia to pounce all over Montaña Verde and win 5, 6, 7-0.

AL WADIYA vs. CENTRAL SHANEVILLE - PREVIEW
Welcome back to Muralos and our coverage of the 12th edition of the Independents Cup, its time for another Central Shaneville matchday.

Tonight's opponents for the island nation are Al Wadiya, the team just below Central Shaneville in the group rankings in what is suspected to be a VERY close game but also a very important one with both sides looking for those magic 3 points which could do wonders for both sides now we are on the penultimate matchday,

Central Shaneville manager Cam Meister seems optimistic ahead of the fixture saying "The lads know whats at stake tonight, win and we get closer to a potential knockout game if the 3 teams ahead of us trip over themselves, I feel like were not out yet."

It is believed that morale of the Central Shaneville team and fans is high following a 4-1 victory over Devonta two days ago which "sparked new life into the team" according to some sources following a streak of losing/drawing games which "can do damage to a team mentally" according to striker Josh Smith.

As for tonight, it seems that it is well and truly game on if Central Shaneville look to repeat its early Independents Cup success by escaping the group.
CENTRAL SHANEVILLE ACHIEVEMENTS:

13th Winter Olympics - Men's Giant Slalom - Gold Medalists
Melayu Archipelago Games I - Women's Sepaktakraw - Gold Medalists

Boot It!: A Chilling Reminder Of Our Potential...

Postby TJUN-ia » Wed Mar 31, 2021 9:17 am

By Peter Davis

After a 21-year-old midfielder made both Jags and Inklings share the points late on, TJUN-ia was looking to bounce back after that late drama against Pot 1 Squidroidia. The Moonlight Coliseum was starting to feel like home for David Seems, Li Xiu Ying and the rest of the Draw Masters and that was only after 2 games, so how will Kuritibah feel to this team after all 5 group games have been played may be beyond comprehension. The next challenge for the Jaguars would be an old face in the form of Sajnur, a team and nation we have fought many times over the last few years.

If this game was a sign of how far TJUN-ia has improved heading into the new era, then maybe something magical could be on the horizon indeed. Sajnur has had our number on multiple occasions over the cycles and were certainly a formidable opponent on their day, but today certainly wasn't at the Moonlight Coliseum. TJUN-ia would be a force to be reckoned with out there on that pitch and somehow, Sajunr couldn't counter them at all. Four Jags goals would go past Alek Khadur in the opposing net and all 4 of them were simply a joy to watch. The first was in the 23rd minute, Joe Green finding the range to shoot a thunderbolt from long distance, while the 2nd arrived in the 36th as Vladimir Podolov was at the end of some incredible set up by Peliniho to simply slot the ball into the net. After the half came the 3rd in the 47th, Kepo Ulawaya completing the Big 3 with a long-range header from a David Johnson corner, while the substitutes got involved for the 4th in the 78th, Prince Carter finding Archer Andrews in another example of great team play to put the cherry on top of this cake. "TJUN-ia 4-0 Sajnur" was not the scoreline many were expecting to see come the final whistle, but I don't think many will complain about how the Co-Manager era has gone so far.

We are neck-and-neck with Squidroidia after 3 games, with only the tiebreaker of the alphabet the only difference between us so far. That doesn't mean we can sit back and relax at all and against the Pot 6 team in Srednjaci, we certainly need that same intensity to come through once again. GO JAGS!

WORLD ARENA SPORT

INDEPENDENT ASSOCIATIONS CHAMPIONSHIP 12

The heavy defeat of the footballers took its toll.
After a heavy defeat by Squidroidia of 0: 5, the coach of the DR Srednjaci team was fired.
Apart from him, the president of the DR Srednjaci association, Ivan Korda, also resigned.
Currently, the team will be led by Andrej Srešić, who has been the assistant coach until now.
The footballers are now in a very difficult position and it is necessary to improve the game as soon as possible.

GEOGRAPHICAL CARDS ABOUT DR SREDNJACI

KATANIJA is the capital with 9,000,000 inhabitants.
It is the seat of government and the economic center of DR Srednjaci.
Katanija is first mentioned 600 years ago when in a storm merchants from the north strayed and came across the settlement.
Katanija in the old language means "enter". The language barrier actually gave the settlement its name. The merchant knocked on the door and asked the host what the name of this place was, and the host replied with a smile, "Katanija = come in," thinking that the merchant was asking him if he could take shelter from the rain.
Katanija began to develop later with the establishment of a trading post and an administrative building. With the arrival of the scholar Don Bernard Rivić, the first high school was established.
Peoples from the east also immigrated to Katanija, bringing with them other crafts such as glassmaking and goldsmithing.
The development of Katanija briefly stopped the pre-medieval war of the peoples of the Far East. After a siege of the city that lasted 6 weeks, the city surrendered to the khanata of Wei Xu.
Due to the disease of his troops and lack of food, the Easterners withdrew back to their Changxi empire.
Katania moved forward to a new war. King Dalat 2 established the Central Kingdom of Dalatia and declared Katanija the capital. He built a magnificent palace, today it is a museum and cultural heritage, a tourist attraction.
After the unification of all the slanders, Katanija briefly lost its position, but after the civil war and the establishment of the Republic, Katanija regained its position as the capital.
Katanija is the only city in DR Srednjaci that has two civilian airports.
It is located in the southeast of the country towards the border of today's Saint Shokai.
To the north are the slopes of the mountain Bijeli Vrh and to the south is Lake Bulat.
The river Modra flows through the town itself, which springs on the slopes of the mountain and flows into the sea.
The river Modra is navigable, so it transports goods and people.
In addition to the nearby mountain, on the east side are wooded hills and a national nature park.
Hikers, recreationists and mountaineers love to stay in these hills. The mountain lodges offer original food and drinks and the nature park has limited access to people so as not to disturb the biodiversity and ecosystem.

Sport in Katania is very popular. The most popular sports are men's soccer and women's handball.
In football, Katanija a has 3 clubs in the first league and two more in the second league.
Women's handball is extremely popular in DR Srednjaci.
Katanija has two clubs in the Master League.
He gives two more clubs in the first league.
And in the other there is one club. Which gives a total of 5 clubs in 3 professional leagues.
Katanija abounds in sports facilities and halls.
The Octagon Hall, which will be able to accommodate 22,000 people, is currently under construction.
In addition to these sports, it is necessary to single out alpine skiing, biathlon, ski jumping and nordic kombination.
Zrinka Ljutić is bigest name in alpine ski in country, she is only 16 and her brother Tvrtko Ljutić. Both are champions in country.
Basketball and volleyball are becoming increasingly popular and athletics and gymnastics will get their GRAND Prix competitions by region.
Water sports are attracting more and more athletes.
Thus, in Katanija, there is the largest swimming pool in the country with 15,000 seats. 50 meter pool and water polo pool.
Tennis is still the most popular of individual sports and in the younger categories Katanija records great results. Names like Petra Mačinković, Ana Sorić and Dinko Ružička will be written in golden letters. Petra Mačinković is the champion of DR Srednjaci for the age of 12 to 14, Ana Sorić is the champion of 10 to 12 and Dinko Ružička is the champion of 10 to 12. They all come from the Top Spin club.

Schooling and education are expressed in Katanija. Elementary school is compulsory throughout the country.
Katanija has 18 student campuses, the second largest university in the country and 6 prominent private colleges.
The largest university hospital in the country has been completed and is in the move-in phase.
The highest average income per capita is in Katanija.
The fashion industry is also gaining momentum. There are more and more fashion events, but also those related to film and music.
Katanija has over 40 theaters, the most prominent being the 230-year-old "National Theater of the Srednjaci "(Narodno Kazalište Srednjaci) and the "Academic National Theater of Srednjaci" (Akademsko Narodno Kazalište Srednjaka) , which is 218 years old.
Museums in Catania are extremely visited, so the "People's National" museum is the largest and most visited in DR Srednjaci.
From the manufacturing plants we single out the car factory "T. A. K." which is one of the leading in the region and "Ludan Auto" a leading manufacturer of luxury and sports electric vehicles.
Food production, chemical industry and military vehicle factory "RUBIN" is also located in Catania.
Tourism is booming in the capital. Catania records double-digit growth in tourist arrivals and overnight stays.
Rich in cultural and historical heritage, proximity to natural and national parks and rich nightlife, it puts Catania on the tourist map of the world.

From a page in the 21 year-old Muralosian midfielder Georgo Zhong's diary
Zhong is one of the younger players in the Muralosian national team. He is not a starter, though he has supplied a fair share of assists over the course of his time as a national athlete. As a result, he feels a sense of frustration about Muralos' performance, but also balances it with humility.

FINAL
Muralos 1 - 2 Ginadjkrum

Zheng 31' | Wallin 62', Fridel 74'

Ha. I just like how that looks.

We didn't play that well today. This honestly qualifies as a shock loss, and I have a feeling that the people watching and analyzing the match will say the same; not that I'm playing to elicit a certain reaction from anyone. That's probably the worst way to play the game.

Think about it! We played Ginadjkrum, a team of E-sports athletes who are thought not to have professional training. The thing is that we seriously underestimated them. They may have been in the bottom of their group in the last IAC, but they held their own against some seriously strong teams. They lost to Trolleborg 2-3, but they scored 2 goals on Trolleborg??! A team that qualified in the World Cup (and as such, is way more skilled than we are)?? And that's only one of the fairly impressive results they had the last time around.

We still have a bit of a "fuck around and find out" mentality when it comes to games. I mean, I can't criticize or blame anyone for it, because it's so dang easy to have that mentality in our station. What I mean is this: we prepare well, I think, but we make snap judgments about teams, and we haven't done enough to adapt to how other teams play. Our status as a group favorite this IAC has also undermined my mentality (that's as much as I can say; can't speak for the legends like Adamo or Valora). It's made me a little haughty when at the end of the day, we are an extremely new team that is vulnerable to slipping up or getting overpowered.

So, Mikhail's goal was pretty damn good today. (Our last names really differ by only one letter; I'm glad I live in a country where the media doesn't screw that up, lmao.) I saw how cleanly Johano set up the shot from the center to Mikhail. Ginadjkrum's players were all over the place (not having any defined position is just... trippy) and there was no way the ball was going to get to Adamo or Rui, so Mikhail went for the shot and it was solid. That was just one of the most respect-worthy things I've seen. Mikhail and I are pretty similar style-wise, which means neither of us are there to score that much, but he did it! Oh my god.

Now Ginadjkrum scrambled their line-up quite a few times during the match. Excuses, excuses... They had some high IQ plays though, fitting for a bunch of E-sports players who are all about "200 IQ" and "4D chess" kinds of things. But their strategy after Mikhail's goal was ridiculous. That was the kind of stuff that we did with the old men's team did in Squidroidia [I mean, the men's team that is old, not the team of old men]. When Squidroidia's team scored a goal, we just did everything we could to boot the ball out of their possession. And I mean boot, like we would send the ball flying whenever one of Squidroidia's players advanced. It didn't work out well for us, but it really worked for Ginadjkrum. AND they managed to do what we didn't back then, which is to score off of those! There was a super long-range pass to Wallin in the 2nd half. I completely blundered trying to stop him, and he went for an equally long-range goal. Man.

The second goal was the most ridiculous. First of all, I could feel how ominous the wind was in Urbego.

Fridel got awarded a corner kick. He had the idea to put spin on the ball right as the wind was blowing steadily in Tanya's direction... and he really scored an OLYMPIC GOAL against the HOSTS OF THE IAC-12. AAAAAAAAAAA. Okay that was just wild. I mean, I was trying not to scream and shout myself, just as a fellow soccer player seeing how ridiculous this was. Why couldn't it be Nikolaj in that position?!?!?

So, uh, that was a lot. We're not due for much more wind than that, thankfully.

There has been conversation in the sports media about whether Coach Koltakov should resign. I have absolutely no clue. He has made judgment errors (our weird-ass formations in the WCQ and now our overly generic prep for some of these IAC-12), but I still find him to have prepped our entire team well overall. Perhaps he is getting old though?? Coach Li has very similar philosophies to Koltakov, but I could see him becoming a new head coach. He's got tons of energy and it's actually very hype. Maybe that will take us from "decently competitive but scrappy team" (as Koltakov's done) to "super consistent international powerhouse" (which I think we want to be).

Coach Li is actually taking over our preparation against Kohnhead's team. They've also held their own against teams that qualified for the World Cup (they beat Savigliane 4-1, they lost to Siovanija and Teusland 2-3) plus Eura (I think they drew 0-0?). Eura has historically been on top, so that's just wild. (Yay for learning more about the sporting world outside Asian Archipelago!) So, there's NO way we're going to underestimate a team like that. I know I'm ready for practice tomorrow. This will be a good game too.

All right, enough about the soccer matches. I've also heard that a player from Squornshelous (one of the other IAC teams) went missing in Poronaysk, oddly enough, after she kneeled in protest while her national anthem played. That is really distressing; I mean, everyone is distressed. Vilhelmo wrote up a letter
to the Muralosian Soccer Association and President Lee's administration, which he had all of us sign. No one's going to object to that. One of these two groups had better look into the matter.

I can't wait for the match against Kohnhead and I'm really hoping they find that Squornshelan player. (Tyra Volam is her name.)

(And an extra note about coaching: Coach Kageyama would be an amazing coach too. She led the freaking former women's team after all, and helped train Galina; Valora; Tanya; and really most of the female players on our squad. So, yeah, that would also be hype.)

Postby Trolleborg » Wed Mar 31, 2021 4:44 pm

Greetings, compatriots! It’s Tiernes Rieper from TTV, and right now we discuss recent events of international football with Morten Kerr. Everyone in Trolleborg knows this name, but we must inform foreigners that he is one of only two coaches in our country who worked in the international football, who gave us wonderful moments at the youth championship, where our football first got the opportunity to show itself. So, the first question, of course, is trivial: how do you assess the position of the team on the IAK?

M.K.: As very complicated. We usually have no luck in this tournament as such, and in football in general. So the verdict is just that - difficult. But one must also understand that it’s not possible that our position will be any other. In international football, experience decides a lot, and our young lads lack it.

T.R.: And how much time we will spend waiting while they are aquired enough of experience?

M.K.: When we started, we had an element of surprise, and in addition many people looked down on us, so for a while we have a chance to breath. Remember how we won two first Youth Championship matches, and what happened next? Do you remember how the national team started their first qualifying tournament and how they continued it? Of course, you remember both. Now everyone has already seen us, and, of course, playing in such circumstances will not be easy and not promised quick successes.

T.R.: Like everyone else, I am frightened by the possible answer to the following question: is the protracted series of failures a symptom of the crisis?

M.K.: Yes, I agree to some extent, lately we have a rather bad luck. The second round of the last WCQ was difficult and unsuccessful. The ending of the group stage of the World Championship turned out to be unpleasant with undeserved early exit. Melayu Cup was hard and disappointing despite difference in game class. But understand correctly - in our history we are never achieved success through luck alone, only through hard work and correct calculations. There is no need to evaluate the actions of a team that still needs to be polished and processed a lot.

T.R.: So how do you think the processing is going?

M.K.: The head coach boldly trusts the young. Jivoglot has already scored his first goal, and Loonstrup confidently acting on the flank, they both can be entrusted with a place in the main squad, another two or three of players whom I take with me on Youth Championship, deserve chance in the national team, and for them everything still ahead, they will be able to improve their game a lot. Yes, it was a couple of young guys who made a fatal mistake in the match against Sannyamathland, but it seems to me that anyone here could have made such a mistake. Opposing player just had a stellar moment, no one expected him to make header, it’s just logical for him wait for the ball to go down for a shot than. I wish him all the best in the games against our rivals, but I don’t think that if he is given 10 chances to shoot like this again, he will score at least two times.

T.R.: Okay, what do you think of our new tactics?

M.K.: I am extremely glad that the work in the pre-season has borne fruit. The team conceded very little in the first matches of the season (makes a gesture that, according to Trolleborg beliefs, drives away bad luck) - let it stay that way. Please note that we already see on the field almost three full sets of defenders, and the result is stable. This means that the reliability of the team does not depend on whom the coach will put in the team, this indicates that it is not the personalities who are making result, but the correctly chosen game scheme. We must also pay a respect to our goalkeeper, who has dramatically improved (again a gesture) the quality of his game. I believe this is a consequence of both the pre-season training camp for goalkeepers that the FA has organized, and Kotsson's healthy competition with the newcomers.

T.R.: Well, everything is fine and rosy?

M.K.: No, really. There is still work to be done, maybe it is worth holding the training camp for field players. And we have not only veterans and young people able to play football, there are enough people in the league at the age of 24-27 who are capable of strengthening the team with a qualitative progress in skills. Now let's see what the expected foreign players will add, competition with strong players is important for improving personal abilities.

T.R.: Well, what is your forecast for the next our championship?

M.K.: Want to hear my lads win the championship? No, I won't say that. I suppose that by the middle of the tournament several teams will be very tight in the head of the table, and then the winner will be the one who maintains the breath longer. Maybe there were will be surprises due to the expected influx of foreigners. Two or three high-quality football masters can change a lot in a tournament situation.

T.R.: Well, thanks for the interview!

M.K.: I am always glad and at any moment I will find time to answer questions.

A Change of Scenery
Salwan Mynhier; BINSAKULA, Almuzahara

Leaving Conceição behind, and with four points to their name from the two matches held there, the Black-and-Reds headed for the larger city of Binsakula for the remainder of their group stage slate. The concrete-dominated architecture of Binsakula might be a draw for those interested in retrofuturism. As the wellspring of Almuzahara's socialist revolution, the city also has a considerable draw for the tourist-historian, with museums and monuments aplenty. To a football team, though, it's just another place to play.

The opponent this time was the team from the Quintessence of Dust. They've not been a team to impress thus far, with a one-all draw with Britland Isles in their opener contributing their only points of the tournament. It may not be entirely fair to criticize a 6-0 loss to Poafmersia when one's own team has yet to face that particular juggernaut, but the disparity in points remains nonetheless. The Quodites were put under pressure early by a quick breakthrough by Petrov. Receiving a ball forward from Hashemi and turning in the same motion, she darted between Ármannsson and Fan, firing just as the latter came near to tackling range. Olesen just barely managed to punch the ball clear, but it came back over the middle of the field. Takala maneuvered underneath it unmarked, and fired on the volley. Having only just regained his feet, Olesen was in no position to make another diving save. 1-0 Black-and-Red.

To give some credit to the Quodites, they tightened up their play quickly after the goal. Closing down much more aggressively, they attempted to take away space in the midfield and close of service forward to Petrov. For the most part it was successful, though the Moths striker very nearly went through on goal alone one of the times the defense was a step slow.
Renard dragged her down with a fairly cynical challenge that was somehow determined by the official to be only worthy of a caution. Confederate frustration notwithstanding, the Black-and-Reds went to the dressing room with the lead, and having controlled the majority of possession.

The second half was a bit more of a back and forth affair. The Quodites pressed forward in search of an equalizer much more often, knowing that gaining nothing from the match would put them in a very difficult position with regard to potential advancement. Krieven had to parry away some exploratory shots from Royce and Rousseau. For one breath-stopping moment in the 59th, he appeared to have spilled a routine save right at the feet of Ryder, but managed to fall atop the ball before the striker could get a foot to it. At the other end, Naqvi was causing all kinds of trouble for the Quodite back line, until falling awkwardly.
She was able to stand and clearly wanted to continue, but Groothuis, likely not wanting to risk the shift left wing's long-term health, brought her off in favor of Vladcik. What immediately followed, though, was more pressure from the opposition, and it was Kuroda who finally found the equalizer. Coming into the play on a late run, the Continuation Railway Biscuit Thickness Spray Farm player collected a rebound inside the box and blasted it home.

Too much time remained though, to simply park the bus and hold out for a draw, but the Quodites tried anyway. Committing themselves to withstanding a 25+ minute siege, in they end quantity of chances won out. It was Petrov again, to no one's surprise, who created and converted the chance. Vladcik's low cross in was deflected out of immediate danger by Renard. It fell for Marrish though, and she lofted it gently back into the box. Olesen, whether indecisive or simply mistimed, was late on his run and leap to punch the ball, and Petrov made a perfect back header to guide the ball past him and into the net.

The Black-and-Reds take a full three points from this match, which may prove crucial as Poafmersia looms large on the horizon. The Red Panjias, as one would expect from two time defending champions, have been one of the tournament's most dominant teams. They lead all teams with 17 goals scored, and are tied with New Lustania and the Algarves at +16 goal differential. No other team have even come close to that mark, with Omerica a distant third at +8. It's a daunting task, and you'd be hard pressed to find anyone betting against Poafmersia in this one. A result here though, even a draw, would be a huge confidence builder for our team, which has been . . . shall we be polite and say inconsistent, in recent tournaments.

The Arlington Moon-Tribune

Editorial note: our previous sentences of the day both had errors in the verb conjugations. These have been fixed, although we doubt anyone really cares.

The Picksall Islands football side recorded their first victory, holding off the Sannyamathland in the City Stadium of Havenurbo. Daēnakū Fampin scored the only goal of the game, tapping in a long pass from Wōkēnd Kufind in the twenty-third minute. From then on, it was a matter of rotating the defense and covering all the field as the White Lions' attack attempted to mount a comeback.

"It was a thrill," Fampin summarized. "The buildup, I'm not even sure I could describe--I was just in the zone, too ēmnowo to notice anything else--except being a little tired already. Then when their #2 [Savreck Javcherenko] was watching Vādondu [Gaudō], I just went for it."

The Islanders' subsequent defensive approach was probably less confidence in holding the lead and more a reversion to type. As for the Soviet Football side--who somewhat confusingly have several different sponsors--they would not spend much time in the remaining sixty-seven minutes deep in their own half of the field, but credit to Mikhail Karpov for quickly shutting down substitute Dinkan Yefdu's tentative attacks in the second half. Sergey Kramnik's late double-substitution of Lev Petrosian and Gary Bronstein in the midfield proved to be inspired, with the youngster connecting with the veteran Petrosian on several crosses, but this was too little, too late; Vūnēm Ibwō's resilient defense meant that the White Lions did not have many serious opportunities before that point.

Even the tight-wired Kim Higden could smile after that result. "What I wanted to stress more than anything is that this was a collective effort, not just for the fourteen of them who saw playing time today, but for everyone else who's helped train with them and push them to be their best. All of the players have earned this and I hope they can look back on it with pride--just not yet."

As for whether this could boost their confidence enough to see a little more risk-taking going forward? "Well, sometimes one goal is enough!"

Sentence of the day:
Naēvōfod pōēgabindi kendi naf hamyek kamdō.
The supporters chewed their fingernails.

(Until we realize we probably screwed up that translation too, then we'll tweak it again!)

The Panthers' fairytale is rapidly turning into a nightmare. Despite what pundits thought was a favorable group, and a surprise draw with historical IAC heavyweights Reçueçn, Almuzahara dropped points to both Murphtannia and regional rivals Silver Beach. With just two matches to go, the hosts are languishing at the very bottom of Group A, with a mere two points to their name. Silver Beach are the surprise leaders of the group with a 2-0-1, and Murphtannia and Bunkaiia are close on their trail. While Almuzahara arguably haven't even been the most disappointing nation in Group A, as Reçueçn is fourth in a group where only two nations will advance, it's little solace to the long-suffering Panthers fanbase, who hoped that Yusuf Alaoui's team could shock the world in their hosting debut.

If there is a light at the end of the tunnel, it's that Almuzahara's remaining schedule is relatively soft. Bunkaiia have impressed, most recently scoring a win against Britonisea, and Britonisea have a very long history of international participation. Yet both should be winnable matches for Almuzahara, and while six or even eight total points in the group stage may not be enough to advance, it'd certainly be better than where the Panthers are now. Still, the team cannot afford to keep being complacent, to think that third place at the Seven Nations Cup and a Ro16 appearance in Havynwilde make them better than their opponents. If they do, and (heaven forbid) the team leaves the IAC winless, Yusuf Alaoui's job will be in serious jeopardy.

While three goals conceded from three matches is a solid defensive record, the free-flowing Panthers attack has failed to live up to the hype. The same team that was scoring goal after goal in the 7NC, and that put six past Silver Beach last IAC, have only registered a measly two goals, from Abbas Osman and Tariq Ben Labrat, during the competition. Former stalwarts such as Ahmed Fernandez have struggled in the spotlight, and the free-flowing attack has looked increasingly tired, weary, and disjointed. Surely the increased expectations won't help, but the eleven men need to understand that they are playing with the entire nation at - not on - their backs. Bunkaiia won't be the easiest target to break down - they're arguably the most defensive team in the group. But if Almuzahara want to reward the fans and the nation that brought them the IAC12 hosting rights, they'll need to step up.
