THIS BOYCOTT SURE AIN'T HOLDING UP
Boycott of basketball within PC, RRS and PUoE by short track drivers is not stopping Duces, Action Team and Kings from taking on college hoops

To those who valued their short tracking time more than anyone else, the sheer mention of the words "College basketball" will make them seethe with anger. To them, college basketball has been hoarding away the best up and coming drivers from the 8 universities involved in the NSCAA and hasn't allowed them to show up on the short tracks and prove their worth to the big teams. If you talk to a loyal short track officionado from Penske College, Richmond Racing School or the Petty University of Entrepreneurship it's even more clear how much they think college basketball is the devil. But look past the loyalists and you will see some of the best teams to grace this college basketball court apart from Eldora and Talladega.

When members of NASCAR Scene were sent to report on the Richmond/Newton State game, they were greeted by a picket line outside of the Richmond Oval, calling for people to go away and stop supporting the "corrupting" college basketball Richmond were about to showcase. Upon asking for an interview, one of the union members said this:

"Obviously we are here forming our picket line due to how bad college basketball was and already is to this fine institution at Richmond. We condone anybody who partakes in this "sport" because they are purposly avoiding the tradition and the pride of racing at this institution!"

Even with the strong words and the picket line, Richmond still had their date with Newton State, a Big 7 9 showdown held in front of a half-full Richmond Oval that would end in a 72–60 victory for the Action Team. For the most part, it seems like the boycott wasn't working out how they wanted - In fact it was failing. The Richmond Racing School sit 6th in the Big 7 9 on a 5-3 winning record, and that effort and motivation would haven't been there if it wasn't for the attempted boycott.

Speaking for NASCAR Scene, Richmond center Kody Michaelson backed that statement up. "If it wasn't for the boycott we wouldn't have started with a winning record in the 7 9. The picket lines outside the Oval motivate us to bring it our best every damn match and it's starting to show with our results. If there was no picket lines, there will be no Action Team for Richmond to root for." The boycotts at Penske College and PUoE have let similar results come through - Both Penske and Petty also sit on a 5-3 winning record in their conferences. Similar picket lines and attendance woes have also happened, but the results of the boycott were staying the same - The teams were winning.

Even then the unions won't stop campaigning for their cause in case results dip. But that is a big if, since both the University of Talledega and Universidade Eldora sit on 7-1 records after the first 8 matchdays and are comfortably in most people's Top 25 rankings. If those 2 teams could do well in their respective conferences, the same can happen for other Cup Series teams. Only time will tell, however, when and if this boycott will have a lasting effect on the basketball teams.

Stay tuned to NASCAR Scene for more information regarding this boycott and the results of the other 5 schools partaking in the NSCAA.

NSCAA 12 Top 10 - Episode 1

Postby Drawkland » Mon Mar 08, 2021 10:10 pm

A fight song, for your enjoyment.
Old Mountain University
"Stand Up and Cheer"
Stand up and cheer,
Cheer loud and long for dear Old Mountain!
For today we raise
The Green and Red above the rest!

O-M-U!

Our team is right,
And we are bound to win the fray.
We’ve got the team,
We’ve got the steam,
For this is dear Old Mountain's day!

NSCAA Top 10

Hi, and welcome to the NSCAA Top 10! Every week or two, we'll be looking at the NSCAA landscape and objectively determining the ten most powerful squads currently in play. Of course, the teams will fluctuate based on record, but we'll also be looking at the quality of play and losses as well. In our opinion, a team that's undefeated against shoddy opposition may not be as good as a one-loss team whose only blemish is a close loss against a fellow contender.

With that in mind, let's check out the best teams after eight games. It's still pretty early in the season, so there's currently 7 undefeated squads left standing. This number will likely be whittled down over the next four games or so. I would be surprised if there are any undefeated teams remaining past the halfway point of the conference stage. I've been wrong before, though. Who knows! Maybe some team will go on a run rivaling Sadeg State in NSCAA 7. For their sake, I hope they get a better result in the championship than the Skyhawks did all those years ago.

Without further ado, here are the current Top 10 squads in the NSCAA:

10. Karnavati College (PRT)
Conference: Sealion
Record: 7-1 (+115)
Why they're here: Pratapgadh may not be the first nation you think of when you're asked to list basketball powerhouses, but so far their schools in the NSCAA have gotten off to an impressive hot start. Three of their schools have been deemed worthy to sit in our current top 10, and they're the only one on this list which isn't currently undefeated. That's not a huge knock on Karnavati College and the Defenders, as the Sealion Conference has been pretty cutthroat so far. Even the Drawkian outfit in Corinth City has been having a hard time. On Day 1, Karnavati College lost by a single point against University of Endborough (Baker Park), and they haven't looked back since. They've beaten a few midmajor schools in the conference, but have yet to play bigger names like Rinaldi Naval and Corinth City. Time will tell if they're true contenders, or just lucky pretenders.

9. Elmanden District College (DRK)
Conference: Sky Blue
Record: 7-1 (+160)
Why they're here: Here we are with Elmanden, the former NSCAA champs. So far Elmanden has made the Sky Blue Conference elite their bitch. They've got big wins against Brat Tech and Kohnface City, teams that we expected to do well in the preseason (and have done marginally well so far). Their one blemish was an embarrassing home loss to the University of Leitner, a Xannerian outfit. Even with that loss, they still seemed strong, and ULeitner were definitely overperforming. Their true test is yet to come though - they still need to play Vanorian stalwarts in Raynor University. A win there would more than make up for their early-season upset.

8. Drawk Corps University (DRK)
Conference: Pink 15
Record: 7-1 (+104)
Why they're here: The last game Drawk Corps U played was also their first loss - a heartbreaking buzzer-beater on the road against a Lisander school in Universidade do Sudoeste. Still, we think this is enough to make them the current "best of the rest" - in our opinion, the best team which currently has a loss. USudoeste may not be a conference frontrunner, but they are #3 in the conference still, and seem to be stringing together a strong start to the season. In any case, the Corps have managed to convincingly overcome Everlin University, the Vanorians who currently sit at #2 in the conference also at 7-1. Also on their resume is a big win over North Ankole, a midmajor Banijan squad who sit at #5 in the conference. With their loss to Sudoeste, their assumed position as the best team in the conference is under fire, but we think they have the ability to keep pounding.

7. Ducentu State University (DRK)
Conference: Eternal
Record: 8-0 (+114)
Why they're here: While Ducentu State is technically undefeated, and even have some solid quality wins under their belt, their play thus far has simply not been that convincing. They nearly lost to a Grey County school but got away thanks to their opponent's final shot being just off the mark. They needed overtime to defeat Keisler College. In any other NSCAA season, this would be a bigger deal, but right now Keisler is 2-6 in the conference. They may have beaten #2 in the conference, Concord Heights, by 7 points. But that was bolstered by the home court and was mostly due to a second-half collapse that could've spelled doom for the Eagles had a few more shots gone UCH's way. They also have yet to play the conference #3 team in Kohnhead City, which will be their next big challenge.

6. University of St. Leon (CBP)
Conference: Orange 16
Record: 8-0 (+115)
Why they're here: Holy cow, a Baker Park school in the Top 10? Right now they sit as the #1 team in the Orange 16 conference, which is a somewhat formidable one. What's holding back St. Leon in the rankings here is the simple truth that permeates all ranking systems: "they ain't played nobody!" While it's true that St. Leon has dispatched a couple schools that have an outside chance at the conference title, they're mostly bolstered by a light starting schedule. They've yet to play Dagans (Starksville Medical), or the current #2 squad in the conference, Cavsar University. Sure, Cavsar may be 6-2 (a loss to Starksville and an upset to Charlotte), but they're still favorites to take the conference. If the Red Raiders want to be taken seriously in the NSCAA, they're going to have to battle the Gladiators and win. Good luck to you.

5. Chandigarh Military Academy (PRT)
Conference: Salamantica
Record: 8-0 (+140)
Why they're here: Similarly to UStL, the Strong Hearts of CMA are mostly still undefeated due to their light starting schedule. If I gave you a list of the 8 teams that CMA has beaten so far, you'd be like "what? who? Oh, I recognize Richardson. Wait, Richardson sucks at basketball, that's not as impressive." Their one shining moment so far has been a 73-113 thrashing of Southport University, in Newmanistan as well. Even that has a bit of a sour taste, since it appears that Newmanistani schools aren't going to have a big showing this cycle. They've yet to play 3 of the top 5 in their conference, so we'll see how strong the Strong Hearts really are, come the next couple weeks.

4. Old Mountain University (DRK)
Conference: Royal
Record: 8-0 (+111)
Why they're here: Old Mountain may not be beating the piss out of everyone they play, but they are definitely beating them. You may look at OMU's "subpar" point differential compared to these other Top 5 teams, but that's mostly due to the fact that they've been playing the actually tough teams in their conference with a front-loaded schedule, rather than running up the score on hapless filler teams. With a start this impressive, expect OMU to go on a midseason and lateseason tear when they play more bad schools to bolster their record to capture the conference title. One big obstacle still stands in their way: Saint Kanye school Frostvale Institute of Technology, who stand at #3 in the conference with a 5-3 record. They may not look that imposing, but they're the last good team the Northerners have yet to play. Talk to us when you've beaten them, OMU, then we'll talk about a Top 3 rank.

3. Cemmendy Tech (DRK)
Conference: Calania
Record: 8-0 (+208)
Why they're here: Cemmendy Tech has the best point differential in the NSCAA right now, but that's not exactly indicative of them being the most powerful squad. The Calania Conference, based on pedigree, seemed to be one of the more powerful conferences in the preseason. So far, however, its "bigger powers" (Grande Mountain, Pocono City Tech, Sabinal State) seemed to be a bit lacking from what we expected. While Cemmendy Tech has managed to defeat everyone in their way, it seems more of an insult to their opponents than a credit to Tech. They're mostly a decent school profiting off of weak schools so far. We'd be interested to see how they perform down the stretch.

2. University of Suryapur (PRT)
Conference: Planetary
Record: 8-0 (+200)
Why they're here: While the Planetary may not be the strongest conference on the block (they don't even have any Drawkians, come on now!), they do still have a good amount of contenders chomping at the bit to take the conference for themselves. Ahead of all these contenders are the Hoopers, the University of Suryapur. This Pratapgadhan college is the highest non-Drawkian school on the list, and for good reason. All those contenders we were talking about earlier? They've already beaten them all, including handing second-place University of Hondo their only loss so far. The only preseason contender they haven't beaten yet is Loudon Empire University, but based on the current level of play the Hoopers are showing, we expect them to pass that test with flying colors.

1. Sadeg State University (DRK)
Conference: Five Star
Record: 8-0 (+195)
Why they're here: Sorry, but could we put anybody else? Sadeg State currently sits undefeated on top of the Five Star Conference. We'll admit, a lot of their success so far has come against the bottom-feeders of the conference, but that's where you build up a respectable record. If that's not convincing enough for you, the Skyhawks already have wins against the #2 and #3 teams in their conference: University of Wisdom-Wollongmatta Bay from TJUN-ia, and South Union College from Saint Kanye. We're eager to see how their first pseudo-rivalry matchup against the #4 team in the conference, Mar Sara Tech, will go. Right now the Skyhawks look like the cream of the crop, but no team is safe.

Agree? Disagree? We don't really care! This is how we see the NSCAA landscape right now. It's the early season, you know, so there's still a lots of upsets that haven't happened yet, lots of stories not yet built, lots of games not yet played. We'd honestly be surprised if half these teams are even considered for title contention come the Ultra 64 draw. But that's the NSCAA, baby! Good luck to everyone out there.

The Expansion Of Basketball In Pratapgadh
Written By Swara Servaia

Welcome back ladies and gentlemen who have been following this series of articles for the last few weeks. Today's article is about the expansion of basketball in Pratapgadh and the big role universities and colleges played in it. We will also talk about the formation of both the Pratapgadh Basketball Organisation and the Pratapgadh national basketball team. We talked about the history of Pratapgadh when it comes to sports and how it was before the arrival of basketball. Pratapgadh only had kabaddi, cricket and hockey as major sports. Things changed in the 2000s when new foreign sports were introduced to the Pratapgadhis which included basketball. The game of basketball was covered by PRT News Media where they explained the game to the general public in 2010. Basketball slowly started gaining popularity among the youth and especially people who were gifted in height. Basketball soon became a common sport among the youth and basketball courts became quite common in parks. However, basketball wasn't considered a professional sport that could be a viable career for people.

That started to change when public schools started to invest in the sport with schools competing against each other. High School level leagues started in cities such as Chittorgarh and Jaipur. The sport slowly expanded to other cities such as Suryapur, Karnavati, Amritsar, Chandigarh, etc. The oldest high school basketball league in Pratapgadh is the Chittorgarh Senior Schools Basketball Championship, which is currently 21 years old. Though basketball was gaining popularity, it was still stuck at the school level for a few years. In 2016, the universities and colleges around Pratapgadh decided to invest in the sport and start a national college basketball league. The main schools behind this were Chittorgarh University and the University of Jaipur. The two schools held meetings and different schools around the country worked together to make basketball a popular sport in Pratapgadh. The National College Basketball Council (NCBC) was formed and the first season of the NCBC Championship was held in 2017. The first schools to participate in were Chittorgarh University, University of Jaipur, University of Suryapur, Karnavati College, Maharana Pratap University and Takshashila City College. These six universities are known as 'the originals' in the Pratapgadhi basketball community. The first season of the NCBC Championship was a huge success as more people around the country started to notice.

With the increasing popularity, the talent pool of basketballers had increased significantly. More and more schools started to participate which includes the Rajendragadh College, Chandigarh Military Academy, Kumbhalgarh City College and Bundi University. The National College Basketball Council achieved its goal of making basketball a popular sport in the country. With more talent being introduced yearly, it was time for a national association was formed. The Pratapgadh Basketball Organisation (PBO) was formed in 2020 with the goal of taking Pratapgadhi basketball to the international level. The Pratapgadh national basketball team was formed in the same year and competed in their first-ever International Basketball Championship in 2021 when they participated in the 27th edition of IBC. Pratapgadh ended up finishing 4th out of 6 countries in their group, winning only three matches out of ten matches. This wasn't the best start for Pratapgadh in the IBC, but we were new at that time and were green too.

Then came the 28th edition of IBC, Pratapgadh came in ranked at 39. The goal was to come back with a better record at least. The team selected for the IBC 28 was a bit controversial, due to ageing players being in the squad. This time, teams only played three matches in their groups of four. Pratapgadh failed in all three matches, coming back home with a record of 0-3. The IBC 28 was a huge disappointment for many young Pratapgadhis. Pratapgadh were embarrassed on the national stage and basketball took a hard hit back home. Pratapgadh never came back to the IBC after the 28th edition and the Pratapgadh Basketball Organisation was crumbling due to lack of international activity, similar to the now-defunct Pratapgadh Football Federation.

In the next article, I will talk about the end of the Pratapgadh Basketball Organisation and the dark period of basketball in Pratapgadh. I will also talk about the first time top Pratapgadhi schools participated in the NSCAA which led to international recognition of Pratapgadhi basketball. Currently, I have been looking at the NSCAA 12 results and delighted to see Pratapgadhi doing so well. University of Suryapur, Chandigarh Military Academy, Karnavati College and Kumbhalgarh City College have done a great job. University of Suryapur and Chandigarh Military Academy are undefeated, while Kumbhalgarh City College only lost one game which by a single point. Chittorgarh University, the best school in Pratapgadh when it comes to basketball, had a bad start. They will hopefully be able to regain their confidence and turn the tides. If any Pratapgadhi school wins a conference, that will be a big leap for basketball in Pratapgadh. For now, goodbye and goodnight.

What was to be an exciting battle between birds of prey (Warhawks and Falcons) turned ugly after O'Brien was ejected early in the third quarter. The 23-point blowout ended KAFA's win streak at five.

Matchday 7: W 88–75 vs. South Western Grey County Provincial University (GRC)
Against SWGCPU, however, the team would rebound, pun intended. O'Brien matched his total from Matchday 4 with 22 rebounds, but he scored 15 this time around.

Matchday 8: W 72–69 vs. Barvard University (BOH)
Brady scored 27 against the Wolverines, including the game-winner from beyond halfcourt. Troy James added an almost double-double of 19 points and nine rebounds.

Matchday 5: W 75–59 vs. University of Victoriaville (CDG)
Carter stepped up from a bad shooting night in the last game, torching the 'Dagan school with 32 points and eleven assists.

Burton scored 30 against the Panterak, who led 37-36 at halftime but collapsed thereafter.

Ross and Williams had 21 points apiece as the Frost Giants exorcised the Purple Demons.

Matchday 8: L 87-92 vs. College of the Air Force (VNG)
FIT were down by as many as sixteen against KAFA's Vannish counterparts. They would mount a comeback, but ultimately fall short.

Eight-Game Recap: Queensbridge University (STK)
Record So Far: 7-1, 1st in Flying Drawk Conference

Matchday 1: W 80-73 vs. Sarnia Tech University (QUE)

Matchday 2: W 71–59 vs. Bayview State (BAR)
Three players scored in double digits for QU in this twelve-point win: Murasaki with 14 and Jareth Livingston and Neil Moore with 11 apiece. Livingston additionally had seven rebounds and two blocks.

Matchday 3: W 86-73 vs. Buke University (BOH)
The Queensbridge defense combined forces to force fifteen turnovers on the Serpents while committing just two themselves.

Matchday 4: W 86–78 vs. Cold Hill University (RAN)
Dalton Parrish's 23 points and eight steals lifted the Engineers past the Buffalo, who are more well known in the world of college gridiron.

Matchday 5: L 57-84 vs. Concord Heights Beauty School (CDG)
Poor shooting and foul trouble plagued Queensbridge as they suffered their first defeat in five games. Livingston had 15 points, but all the other Engineers scored seven or less.

Matchday 6: W 80–63 vs. Southern Unova University (DUR)
Parrish's 25 points and Ted Garcia's 17 and six assists put the Engineers back on the winning track in their next game.

Matchday 7: W 67-62 vs. University of Talladega (NCS)
This win against the Big Ones was, well, a big one. The Engineers entered the fourth quarter trailing 50-58, but limited their opponents to just four points the rest of the way.

Matchday 8: 92–58 Penn Northern University Appalachian (APY)
The Engineers rolled to a huge win after leading the lions 30-8 in the first quarter. Murasaki scored 26, while Livingston and Moore recorded three blocks each.

EC, Northern holding own in NSCAA
by Patrick Laughlin, Women's College Basketball Editor

When the UAC nominated the Endborough College and Northern Baker Park women's teams for inclusion in the current NSCAA season, there was talk that the higher-ups at BP Basketball in Broadmoor wanted to quickly squash any suggestion that the AOBC 5 Championship by the women's National Team was a fluke based on the performance of the first mixed gender national basketball team in the AOBC 6 & IBC tourneys.

After 4 full weeks of play, the ladies are pulling their weight just fine, as both squads are the best of the four first-time participants (with Kellerville State and UBH the others) while also being among the 5 UAC entries that have records at or above .500; St Leon and Osheana State have just a single defeat between them--a six point loss by the Falcons away to Fabula de Forma University of Raspotochje--and Belle Haven State have split their 8 contests to sit level with the Lions. EC are unlucky to be 5-3 at this point after having began 4-0, including a 25 point win over Loyola-Istria at the Main Gym; a one point loss to Rinaldi Naval Academy of Valanora in Endborough, sandwiched between two away losses by a total of 13 pts, has put the Germans 2 games behind Sealion Conference leaders Karnavati College, although they currently hold a tiebreak advantage as a result of their 76-75 win in Pratapgadh on opening day.

A look at the combined margins of defeat of the eight schools from Baker Park tells a story about the relative competitive strength that might be surprising to some.
As mentioned, EC have lost three games by a total of 14 points, and Northern's deficits in their four defeats have been 9, 11, 4, & 3.

Kellerville have the strangest point differential in the entire competition at the moment, as they lost by 36 to Cassadagan powerhouse University of Concord Heights on their first trip outside of the Commonwealth, but combined that with a pair of one point defeats, along with an 11 point loss at Crawford Arena to Bunyoro A&M that was more like a home contest for the Banijans.

That was followed by blowout of Keister College at home by 24, followed by losses of 9 and 14. So the trip to Xanneria was something for the fairytale file.
Against Maxwell House University, the normally deliberate Rams transformed into a throwback to the 1980's when they were one of the most wide open offenses in the Big 8 over 40 minutes. The 103-59 victory sent K-State fans to the record books; the 44 point margin of victory was the largest in school history away from home, and the biggest in 29 years, while the 103 points tied the second highest output away from home, originally established 40 years prior.

As a result, the team sit with a 2-6 mark in the Eternal Conference, but have a total scoring margin of -4; perhaps the Rams will hit their stride and cause trouble in a strong league with perennial contenders for the NSCAA crown.

Eight-Game Recap: South Union College (STK)
Record So Far: 6-2, 3rd in Five Star Conference

Matchday 1: W 95–74 vs. College of Ware (NCS)
Zane Hoffman scored 29 points before fouling out against the Big Red. Petey Harmon did well as a replacement for his graduated brother Nicky, contributing 15 points, five assists and a steal.

Matchday 2: W 81-69 vs. Takshashila City College (PRT)
Cam Sheridan earned a double-double of 24 points and eleven assists as the Strongmen disposed of the Rebels.

Matchday 3: L 57-94 vs, Sadeg State University (DRK)
South Union were in shambles after facing the Skyhawks, as they lost not only the game but also starting center Casper Boone (dislocated shoulder).

Matchday 4: W 82–70 vs. University Of Motostoke (DUR)
Hoffman topscored for SOUC with 27. Colin Murdock, stepping in for the injured Boone, scored 13 and added ten rebounds.

Matchday 5: W 85-73 vs. Southern Dinagat State (BAR)
Harmon's team-high output of 30 points against the Rams included three straight threes in the second quarter that saw the Strongmen take the lead and never look back.

Matchday 6: L 68–82 vs. Mar Sara Tech (VAL)
The main reason for SOUC's loss? Likely the fact that Hoffman and Harmon, the two top performers in the last two games, were limited to eleven and ten points, respectively.
'
Matchday 7: W 67-65 vs. University of Auster (VNG)
The Strongmen trailed 64-65 against the Royalhawks with four seconds remaining when Jess Matthews went for a layup and drew a foul from his defender. He would complete the three-point play, giving South Union the win.

Matchday 8: W 82–57 vs. Universidade Portia (LIS)
South Union went off to a 16-1 run at the start of the game and eventually beat the Lisanderian school by twenty-five. Sheridan scored 20, while Murdock added 16.

Eight-Game Recap: University of Bompton (STK)
Record So Far: 3-5, 9th in Planetary Conference

Matchday 1: L 68–76 vs. Universitas Concordia Kasandora (LIS)
The Redblues gave up a 55-46 third quarter lead and collapsed against their opening day opponents. It didn't help that star shooting guard Bruce Coleman fouled out after only scoring six.

Matchday 2: L 53-96 vs. University of Suryapur (PRT)
No Bompton player scored more than Von Fields' eleven in an ugly blowout loss to the Hoopers.

Matchday 3: L 70-86 vs. Unibersidad sa Cebuenas (HSP)
Second chance points were the difference maker in this game. The Redblues only had four; the Bats, thirty.

Matchday 4: L 65–77 vs. University of Prince Raoul Islands (QUE)
As the losses begin to pile up, so do UB's troubles. They trailed just 61-63 with four minutes left, but were unable to keep it close or take the lead.

Matchday 5: L 57-89 vs. University of Hondo (VAL)
Scott Sparks scored twelve and had three assists. Unfortunately, it seems as if none of the other Redblues members showed up.

Matchday 6: W 81–68 vs. Fair Haven State (BAR)
After going 0-5 to begin their NSCAA 12 campaign, Bompton head coach Simon Cassidy was fired. Former assistant Randall Romero took over, leading the team to their first win of the season.

Matchday 7: W 83-75 vs. Ranoria State University (RAN)
Jeremy Carson scored 23, Coleman added 16, and the Redblues beat the Herons for their second win.

Matchday 8: W 88–69 vs. Eastern Grey County College (GRC)
It looks like Coach Romero is really turning the team around. Bompton won their third in a row with the help of Sparks' 19 points and five steals and Benjamin Hill's 14 points, twelve rebounds and three blocks.

Eight-Game Recap: Elmore Heights Correctional Facility (STK)
Record So Far: 6-2, 3rd in Big Seven Nine Conference

Matchday 1: W 71–59 vs. Politechnica Soria (LIS)
Love them or hate them, the convicts return, ready to prove that even though they're prisoners, they can still run with the best college hoops teams in the world. "Phantom Zero", just a bench player last season, made the difference against their Lisanderian opponents with 18 points.

Matchday 2: W 81-77 vs. Newton State University (SQR)
A dunk by "Chief G" gave the Madd Doggs a two-point lead against the Squidroidians, and two free throws by "Skull" sealed the win.

Matchday 3: W 101–81 vs. Plava Vila College (DOT)
A last second Hail Mary three by "Kobra Keith" made Elmore Heights the first Yeezie team to break the century mark in this tournament.

Matchday 4: L 66-70 vs. Richmond Racing School (NCS)
Three turnovers by the Doggs in the last two minutes allowed the Action Team to escape with the close win.

Matchday 5: W 90–79 vs. Matthensville Polytechnic Institute (RAN)
"Big Blake" had 31 points and a whopping seven blocks against the Cryptokleptics, whose name Elmore Heights coach Wilson Simmons struggled to pronounce during the post-game press conference.

Matchday 6: L 77-78 vs. University of Tundra Falls (NEW)
The Doggs would lose by one in their next game after a jump shot by a Tundra Falls player with three seconds remaining.

Matchday 7: W 75–64 vs. Nampa State (BAR)
"Skull" had 23 points in the eleven-point win over the Broncos; "Scooter" had only five, but he racked up fifteen assists.

Matchday 8: W 83-59 vs. Gonzaga University (DSA)
"Phantom Zero" and "Big Blake" had almost identical stat lines in this game. The former had 17 points, six assists and two steals, while the latter also had 17 points, but had six rebounds and two blocks.

Hispinas' PREMIER sports magazine!

Kabog best of the Hispinian bunch after eight games
Top two Mandrid schools still grasping NSCAA fever as both have paltry records

CEBUENAS - When the final buzzer sounded in Unibersidad sa Cebuenas' Natad, fans cheered heavily for their home team as they notched their sixth win in eight games, which was unexpectedly the best performance so far this season when the media were expecting the Mandrid schools of Universidad de Hispinas and IT Mandrid to make waves in the different conferences, thirteen to be exact. Instead, we see the Cebuenas based university to lead the way for Hispinian schools to be represented in the collegiate basketball tournament.

Kabog, or the Bats in English-speaking media, had a 3-1 record in their first four games, and it seemed they have the hang of how the NSCAA should be played, by upending Lisander's Universitas Concordia Kasandora, 83-57, which they followed up with a ten point win over Quebec and Shingoryeo's University of Prince Raoul Islands. However, they were put back to reality when they visited Valanora's University of Hondo where they were stumped by Ricky Lindqvist and the rest of his team, losing by 21 big points, before the game back home against Barnetsville's Fair Haven State. Matios Ureno and Celino Escajeda, both playing for their final years for the university, carried Kabog the entire game, penetrating through the Blue Jays defense and scoring either layups or posterizing dunks. Kabog is currently level on wins with Newmanistan's Loudon Empire University in third and fourth places in the Planetary Conference.

It was a different story though for both Mandrid schools as they linger with mediocrity as their win loss records do not reflect the stature they have in Hispino basketball, however, this may boil down to a tougher schedule, or simply what were their other opponents' standings in their respective conference. Despite a poor start from the Cardenales Rojos from their standards, they posted a 3-1 record over a stretch of four games, making decisive wins over Dotrivja's University of Pormut, Grey Country's Metro Laneca Community College, and Banija's Bunyoro A&M University, although they faced former NSCAA champions in University of Concord Heights of Cassadaigua, and the Cassadagan national champions showed why they are one of the teams to beat in a competitive Eternal Conference. The stretch enabled the capital university to post a 5-3 win loss record and share 4th to 8th places with four other schools.

The Genios Verdes though kept on disappointing after a 2-2 record in the Woodland Conference, losing to the likes of Coastal Grey County University, although their other loss would be against Banija's University of Moravica, which momentarily put them at 2-4. They managed to bounce back however, taking games against Universidade de Soria from Lisander and University de Bornell of BohemiaIV, putting them level wins and losses at 4-4, and puts them eighth in the standings.

Most of the Hispinian schools are in midpack, having 5-3, 4-4, or 3-5 records. CNES, IA from Lirio, PSH, and Basko U currently have 5-3 records, with the latter having a disappointing 1-3 run after being unbeaten in their first four games. Only ImHU Mendizaleak (Mountaineers) have a losing record among the eight schools, with a 3-5 record having a respectable 2-2 run in their conference.

We will be back with more NSCAA coverage after Matchday 12. We will release the first power rankings and predict which Hispino schools will make it to the Ultra 64.

Valanora Times
Coming Into Stride

We all saw what went on in the first two weeks of conference play for the schools representing the Eternal Empire and it was written about quite a lot not only in this publication but in a lot of local ones as well as those of the various universities that are participating in the NSCAA and representing Vanorian interests in the competition. The message was apparently sent loud and clear that the teams needed to find a way not play down to their opponents and to get out of their own way, to get back to having fun and playing their game, as the last two weeks the schools have really hit their stride and are looking more like the teams that we had expected to see from the very start of the season. While it is hard to make such claims with only about a quarter of the conference play out of the way, if the Vanorian schools plays as a collective for the remainder of their double round robin as they have in the last two weeks, then all eight teams have a legitimate chance of challenging for their respective conference titles or at the very least claiming a high seed for the conference tournaments that will take place after the round robin.

The biggest improvement came from the team that had been the most disappointing out of the gate, as the Raiders had looked absolutely sloppy in the first two weeks and could not figure out how to defend their homecourt to save their lives. An eleven point win at home to start the week was a quick remedy to that initial problem, overcoming Takshashila City College down the stretch with some clutch three point shooting and defensive stops to finally register a home win. That hot shooting continued into the weekend, as they posted their third road victory and third victory in a row, with the defense starting to finally show up in force keeping their opponents underneath seventy points. However the defense was not able to pull off a repeat performance at the start of this week, allowing eighty to the traveling University Of Motostoke, but the offensive hit nineteen three pointers to register over a hundred points and get another home win on the board, yet their might have been some hangover from such a marathon of a game as the Raiders were upended at Southern Dinagat State by three, not hitting over seventy points for the first time in the two week period. Yet with a five and three record, the Raiders have managed to climb into fourth, yet everyone is chasing the undefeated Skyhawks of Sadeg State, a team that the Raiders know very well from their rivalry in the NSCF.

In the Pink 15, Everlin is quietly and efficiently stringing wins together and keeping up with with another Drawkland school in the form of the Drawk Corps, with the two teams tied at the top of the conference with seven wins and one loss each. Nothing about what Everlin is doing is flashy and they are not the school you would have believed to be at the top of the conference, but solid guard play and some key stops when the pressure is on is keeping this team at the top. Can they keep up an efficient like style through a full conference season though? If the answer is yes, then the Drawk Corps could have a major fight on their hands for conference supremacy. In the Sky Blue Conference, Raynor was able to do what Mar Sara was able to and then one better, flipping the script on their mediocre two and two start, putting up a perfect four wins on the board and doing it in style, with only a single game in that set being decided by single digits, and that was a nine point victory over Universidade de Lerna. The Rockets are going to have to keep up this explosion of offense though, as they are in a very competitive conference with Elmanden District College and Brattleboro Technical Institute, two traditional powers in the NSCAA field. The early slide has the Rockets in third and chasing but these past two weeks should show that they are capable of hanging with the two blue bloods on their day.

Another conference with an unusual Vanorian school in second, this time Turbani Tech in the Royal Conference, but once again chasing a Drawkland school at the top, Old Mountain University. Tech's two losses were in the first few weeks and they are scoring at an outrageous pace with two games of over ninety points and another with eighty-seven in the last two weeks, making the sixty-six point effort at the start of this week in their victory the odd one out. Yet they were playing one of the best teams in their conference outside of Old Mountain, with it being Northern Moravica of Banija. A conference with a lot of middling teams is there for the taking if the Tech offense is going to be putting in outbursts of over eighty points a game and all it will take is a few slips from the Old Mountain for Turbani to truly contest for the regular season title with that sort of scoring ability. In the Sealion Conference, Rinaldi is tied at the top, but unlike most of the other teams that had great weeks with blowout wins, they have had a lot of close shaves, including a single point victory in a bit of an upset at Endborough College, hitting a game winning shot with 0.8 seconds left to go to escape Baker Park with a victory. It's a testy conference, but if the Corsairs can keep eeking out victories, who knows where they might end up at the end of conference play.

South Caddonia is doing fairly well, though they did suffer at the hands of a school known to NSCF fans inside the Empire, as they traveled to Ranoria and were beat by one by Cold Hill at the start of the week. Like Rinaldi, South Caddonia is playing well, particularly at home and making Caddo a fortress that is difficult for other teams to come into and try to get a result. The victories are not usually blowouts and there is not a high explosion of offense like Turbani Tech, or some key defensive stops like Mar Sara Tech, but they are grinding away victories and putting on a good show for all those out in Sabine and Caddonia to get behind, as they maintain a fight for a top four spot in their conference. Then we get to the University of Hondo and well they put up an impressive three wins in the last two weeks and even in their victory, they stuck to their guns and were playing a high tempo, high scoring game. Losing eighty-three to eighty-one at University of Suryapur, the only remaining undefeated team in the conference, is by no means something to be disappointed about, as Hondo was in it till the last and have to believe that they will get their own back when they host them in the Eternal Empire. Eighty points a game on average says that Hondo will be in most games and at the top of the conference standings for the long haul.

In the Calania Conference, aptly placed for Sabinal State considering that their island is closer to the Calania continent than mainland Valanora, Sabinal posted a four win record on the bounce and clawed their way up into third place in the conference as a result. It all got started with an upset of Pocono City in Newmanistan, edging out the Newmanistan School 68-60 before a trio of double digit victories got the school on to the top of the chasing pack. Beating such an established school like Pocono and away from the Empire definitely was a shot in the arm for the morale of the team and you could see how loose they were in the next three games. While not intended to challenge for a conference crown, you never know what that sort of confidence can do to a side and what sort of a streak they can go on. The same can be said for most Vanorian universities, as they all had a very successful two weeks and most of the schools are currently towards the top of their respective conferences, even if they have long odds of actually overcoming the blue bloods that sit atop of them. After having to have a bit of humble pie through the first two weeks of conference play, it is clear that a bit of that Vanorian pride has been brought back to the surface in the last two weeks as well as some good coaching to prevent the teams from letting a poor start doom an entire campaign.

A decently successful month for most schools

The first month-ish of college basketball has passed and while there are no Kohnheadian teams undefeated or any at one loss for that matter overall it's been pretty successful for some schools at least and they're looking good. With the note that approximately the top four schools in each conference make the Ultra 64 we can see how close our schools are after the first month. Unlike two weeks ago the schools will be ranked by position in their conference.

Kohnhead City University
Pre-season Ranking: 1
Current Ranking: T1
Record: 6-2
Game 5: Maxwell House University (XAN) 65–79 Kohnhead City University (KHD)
Game 6: Kohnhead City University (KHD) 73–64 Kellersilve State University (CBP)
Game 7: Universidad Carlandas (TJU) 68–64 Kohnhead City University (KHD)
Game 8: Kohnhead City University (KHD) 76–68 Penske College (NCS)
Place: 3rd in Eternal Conference

The Mighty Eagles out of KCU went 3-1 in their last four games playing close basketball with their biggest win being by 14 points against Maxwell House University in Xanneria and their only loss being to TJUN-ian school Universidad Carlandas by four. While we saw the offense that many expected to be pretty bad explode in the first four games they've quickly come back down to earth although. Most of the production have come from the bigs with Ethan Burks and Elliot Gibson at power forward and Center dominating under the hoop and Weber has played very good perimiter defense leading the team in steals.

Wangor State College
Pre-season Ranking: 6
Current Ranking: T1
Record: 6-2
Game 5: Wangor State College (KHD) 82–57 Heshima & Usian University (BNJ)
Game 6: Bundi University (PRT) 83–92 Wangor State College (KHD)
Game 7: Wangor State College (KHD) 91–64 University of Charlotte (APY)
Game 8: Bamford Military Academy (BOH) 72–88 Wangor State College (KHD)
Place: 3rd in Orange 16 Conference

It was a dominant four game stretch for Wangor with multiple wins by at least 25 points and the closest game being a nine point victory against Bundi University. After a promising 2-2 start that had them squarely in the middle of the pack in the Orange Conference, Wangor State showed that they should be considered a suprise contender in the conference currently led by undefeated St Leon whom Wangor has yet to play maybe they can hand them their first loss. Wangor's success can be attributed to the three point shooting of Roberts and Cantu the two starting guards who are both shooting over 40% from behind the arc.

Dawson Community College
Pre-season ranking: 8
Current ranking: 3
Record: 6-2
Game 5: Chandigarh Military Academy (PRT) 82–64 Dawson Community College (KHD)
Game 6: Dawson Community College (KHD) 85–82 University of Midnight (SQR)
Game 7: Southport University (NEW) 74–65 Dawson Community College (KHD)
Game 8: South Western Grey County Provincial University (GRC) 69–90 Dawson Community College (KHD)
Place: 4th in Salamantica Conference

DCC started out brilliantly in their first four games going undefeated and rising to the top of the Salamantica Conference despite being the projected 8th best team from Kohnhead. A dificult second two weeks hurt them with an 18 point loss to Chandigarh Military Academy the team at 8-0 and top of the conference and it took a late charge from Dexter Castro off the bench to propel them to a win against Squidroidian University of Midnight. 5-3 Southport handed them their second loss on the season but they rallied to beat a Grey County school by 21 points to put them squarely in the hunt at 6-2 following a 2-2 stretch.

Swisston City University
Pre-season Ranking: 2
Current Ranking: 4
Record: 6-2
Game 5: University Of Veridian City (DUR) 61–73 Swisston City University (KHD)
Game 6: Swisston City University (KHD) 69–87 High Scool of Economy Dotivija City (DOT)
Game 7: University of Loyola-Istria (BNJ) 79–86 Swisston City University (KHD)
Game 8: Swisston City University (KHD) 90–77 RAS St. Andrei (SVJ)
Place: 5th in Sealion Conference

The Army Knives have basically mimicked what the Mighty Eagles did going 3-1 in their first stretch and then following that with a 3-1 stretch in their next four games. Their lone loss was a bad one to High School of Economy Dotivija City who sit in 12th of the Sealion Conference but two days later they traveled to Banija and took down Loyola-Istria who while at 3-5 on the year are a known powerhouse although moreso in the NSCF. There are no undefeated teams in the Sealion Conference meaning SCU is only one game back from the two leaders Karnavati College and Rinaldi Naval Academy who are both at 7-1.

University of Barnley Tech
Pre-season Ranking: 3
Current Ranking: T5
Record: 4-4
Game 5: Lagea Penninsula University (SIL) 70–83 University of Barnley Tech (KHD)
Game 6: University of Barnley Tech (KHD) 90–66 Tidewater State (BAR)
Game 7: Frostvale Institute of Technology (STK) 78–64 University of Barnley Tech (KHD)
Game 8: University of Barnley Tech (KHD) 81–86 Old Mountain University (DRK)
Place: 7th in Royal Conference

Barnley Tech followed up their 2-2 start with a 2-2 record over the next two weeks but it included two losses at the end of the period after they had beaten Lageau Penninsula by 13 and Tidewater State by 24. However the two teams they lost to are in 3rd and 1st and the game against Old Moutanin University the 8-0 school out of Drawkland was very close but Barnley would lose by five. Barnley Tech are one of eight teams sitting at 5-3 or 4-4 and so they're right in the thick of things and can certainly make a run.

Castle College
Pre-season Ranking: 4
Current Ranking: T5
Record: 4-4
Game 5: North Ankole (BNJ) 80–77 Castle College (KHD)
Game 6: Castle College (KHD) 79–78 Three Sisters College (XAN)
Game 7: Everlin University (VAL) 78–66 Castle College (KHD)
Game 8: Castle College (KHD) 69–85 Laneca University (GRC)
Place: 7th in Pink 15 Conference

Castle College had a very good start to the season going 3-1 however a 1-3 stretch following this puts us down to 7th in the Pink 15 Conference with the supposed best offense in Kohnhead being pretty average on the offensive side of things so far. They were a point away from going 0-4 on the week as they barely beat Three Sisters College out of Xanneria doing so on a winner from Theo White and then seeing an Xannerian shot almost go in right at the buzzer.

Northern-Parga State
Pre-season Ranking: 7
Current Ranking: 7
Record: 4-4
Game 5: Eastern Grey County College (GRC) 69–90 Northern-Parga State (KHD)
Game 6: Northern-Parga State (KHD) 66–74 Loudon Empire University (NEW)
Game 7: St. Joseph's College (VNG) 62–91 Northern-Parga State (KHD)
Game 8: Northern-Parga State (KHD) 68–66 New Springs Univerisity (APY)
Place: 8th in Planetary Conference

Northern-Parga State started off the season at 1-3 with a poor start and it looked like the freshman who were the only Kohnheadian school in the bottom half of their conference's standings and the only ones with a losing record couldn't handle the NSCAA just yet. However a stretch in which they went 3-1 with their only loss being an eight point loss to third in the Conference Loudon Empire University.

University of Kohnface City
Pre-season Ranking: 5
Current Ranking: 8
Record: 3-5
Game 5: Inkopolis University (SQR) 63–63 University of Kohnface City (KHD) (71–74 OT)
Game 6: Universidade de Lerna (LIS) 79–73 University of Kohnface City (KHD)
Game 7: University of Kohnface City (KHD) 77–83 Gornja Dobova College (DOT)
Game 8: Brattleboro Technical Institute (CDG) 92–61 University of Kohnface City (KHD)
Place: 11th in Sky Blue Conference

Kohnface City take over the mantle as the only college from Kohnhead with a losing record and in the bottom half of their conference. They started out the period with an overtime win against Inkopolis but lost two games by six points to bring their record down to 3-4. Then a 29 point shattering in Cassadaigua against a Brattleboro team at 7-1 and in second of the conference. Kohnface City need to play better in the coming weeks if they want to catch the high standards the other colleges from the nation are setting.

Around the College Scene,
By Chloe Dufresne, Concord Heights Times

Four more games are in the books in NSCAA basketball, as the road to the Ultra 64 is still just getting started. However, no one wants to fall into too deep of a hole early. Sure, the one thing that makes college basketball a little unique is that it does not really matter how you do in conference play. You can go 5-25 as long as you get hot at the right time and win your conference tournament. That said, teams don’t go 5-25 then win the conference tournament. But I have to admit in all of the years that I have watched college basketball, I have always hoped that this would happen somewhere, sometime. Alright, let’s look around the scene and see how our favorite eight college basketball programs are doing right now.

Brattleboro Technical Institute (7-1, Sky Blue)
The Brats are doing a fantastic job right now, and for the moment are our top performer. They were 4-0 in the last stretch, surviving a 78-74 against Barnettsville’s Susquehanna, but also getting a very nice win over University of Kohnface City, 92-61. Those Kohnhead schools have shown potential, so expect that Kohnface City will begin climbing the ladder.

University of Concord Heights (6-2, Eternal)
3-1 followed up by another 3-1. UCH has been consistent thus far. This puts them in a tie for second with Kohnhead City University, and the undefeated Ducentu State University, which is based in Drawkland. Students from that country clearly have gotten the message that last time was unacceptable, and since this is an even year, they must do better. UCH’s loss was to DSU, falling 77-70. Tara Cohen, who is also a good friend, told me, “The size thing is tough when playing the Drawks. We’ll keep doing what we do best, though.”

Seth Johnson University (6-2, Salamantica)
The guys started 2-2, so they are coming off a perfect set of games, and we hope that they can only continue this momentum. They had a couple of big wins too, routing Carolina Lowlands A & T 94-61, and then doing the same to Richardson University, 100-64. Richardson? I am just beginning to learn the NSCF, and have heard that they are good there. Well, Seth Johnson U just showed that they are not as good on the court!

New Lakeland University (5-3, Woodland)
Was it intentional or just a mere coincidence that NLU ended up in the Woodland Conference here, and the Woodlands Conference in the NSCAA? Should we give the organizers credit for that, even if it was a coincidence? Well, the team is doing pretty good, coming off a recent 3-1 stretch to get into a better position on the table.

Concord Heights Beauty School (4-4, Flying Drawk)
Our cross-city friends are hovering around .500, with another recent 2-2 set of four games. However, they have lost two of three, including a heartbreaking loss in overtime, or should I say, a green-white-checkered, to University of Talladega. By the way, why isn’t that country in NSSCRA?

University of Victoriaville (4-4, Royal)
Hanging around in the middle of the table for now in their first ever NSCAA appearance. They have yet to hit their best stride, with back to back 2-2 sets of four games, and we can hope that they will eventually show more. Freshman forward Brittany Presser, who’s the big reason why UV qualified, told me, “We started slow at home, too. Finish strong, that matters more.” Absolutely right!

Starkville Medical Institute (4-4, Orange 16)
This team did not start well, winning just one of their first four games, so getting to .500 represents progress for them. They are situated 8th on the table, but a thrilling 83-82 win over Drawkland’s Cavsar University shows that they can move up. Unfortunately, they did not follow that up well, losing to a Vannish school. I won’t say anything about that school. Just in case.

Grande Mountain University (3-5, Calania)
They are the only one of our schools with a losing record, so I guess that is good even though we have expectations for all of our programs to at least be playing .500 ball. GMU was slow to start, winning one of their first four, and it is too early to get concerned. Hopefully, we can start to see them put together a bunch of wins soon.

THE ROCKET REPORT

WILL PLAYERS BE IDENTIFIED?

By Taylor Larson,

As of the current time, Newmanistanian sources have failed to release the names of the players representing our eight schools in the NSCAA 12 tournament. We know who they are, of course, because we watched these fine schools all year, and have been following the teams. But shouldn’t these players be able to be dignified in a way that everyone out there knows who they are. A Saint Kanye publication could only refer to the hero of University of Tundra Falls’ team as “a Tundra Falls Player”. They did that because they don’t know who he is. Are we going to tell the world this or not?

Well, members of the Pocono City Tech team have protested that their names get used in the NSCAA because they do not get compensated for the tournament. Part of thing about being a college athlete and all, where we give the argument that the players are paid in the form of a scholarship. That’s true, so if a Pock City Scholarship is worth $100,000, and we give a scholarship to a member of the college basketball team, a squad that is covered religiously by several media outlets and brings in a lot of revenue for the school; and a scholarship to a member of the rowing team, a sport that no one really cares about other than the friends and family of the athletes, then the two athletes are being paid the same amount, right? Is that fair to the basketball player? That is the argument of the players in question, who I am not allowed to name. The athletes claim that they only agreed to allow the likeness to be known at the college level within Newmanistan, and if they are going to play overseas, then they should be compensated for it. Compensated, of course, by more then a scholarship.

The student athletes of the other seven schools have joined in the protest, for now. Therefore, we are not allowed to use their names either in an international publication. We are hoping that this will work itself out pretty soon, and we will be able to use their identities.

The Sportsmen - Watch out for Marco Cervantes, the fire-hot Quebecois rookie

Matthias Devin Njogo

BATHURST, ACADIE - It was only a year ago when Mount Ester's men's basketball team, having won two championships and coming close once on QIS Final Eight, had featured a golden age. Represented by forward George Callaghan-McKee (Arts '47) and guard Bahng Se-Woong (Comm '47), the talented class of 2047 had dominated and ploughed their way into what was a remarkable run for these guys. The Lancers, on their first season back, did struggle a bit in Elite Eight finish as their head coach, Jane Grenier, had to replace half the twelve active player slots from the sixteen-men squad. One cannot help but to feel as if their decline's underway.

Maybe not so fast with Marco Cervantes, dear unaware reader. Even though Mount Ester is heavy on its use of upperclassmen, as highlighted by its frontcourt and wing with playing time dominated by the juniors and the seniors, the freshman point guard from Goose Bay has made a huge step up in the mixed team's first stretches in the NSCAA summer collegiate season. Even though it is not the best to use his eight game form as a crticial indicator yet, one cannot help but to notice how much Cervantes, ranked number one point guard and fourth ranked prospect his year when coming to Bathurst, has improved in a single year.

During Mount Ester's 6-2 run so far in the summer, his combined stats have been 18 points, 4.5 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 2.0 steals, 56 percent from the field and 40.3 three point percentage. And that's not just done for his own statistics- Cervantes led them to a comfortable third place in the group stage with potential for further improvements over the course of this summer, especially after last night's 29 point, 5 rebounds and 6 assist performance in a victory over Olympia Empire University of Newmanistan. And this wasn't even his best game either- some would remember his 37 points and 14 rebounds against their rivals Halifax in the AUS conference championship game last March, or the season opener when he netted 14 points, 9 assists and 4 blocks. So, even if there would be some off games, one cannot ignore the highs.

Stylistically, Cervantes may not satisfy some who were all too familiar with Bahng Se-Woong's love of driving the basket and his brand of aggression. But while Cervantes may resort to using his 196cm height and shoot more jumpers and three pointers, the direction his play has been taking is positive at least. Cervantes is actually taller than Bahng, and being a shooting guard who's had to take his freshman year to adjust to Mount Ester's defensive system, it made sense for him to take lot more time. Unlike Lorenzo Tarantino, the other guard on the third-ranked recruiting class for Mount Ester, his defensive positioning needed lot more work to start with...

DROP IT DOWN!: Where The Hell Did CSU Come From?!

Postby TJUN-ia » Wed Mar 10, 2021 11:56 am

3-1: Write-Off by Everlin Only Loss For Mariners
Record: Beat Three Sisters College by 19, lost to Everlin by 40 before beating Laneca by 17 and Bientiane by 36.
Verdict: CPortside is certainly up there in the Pink 15, though the less said about the Everlin game the better. Jennifer Reagan was the main star this time around and the chase to catch up with the Top 2 in this conference continues.

3-1: Wallabies Great, But Takshashila City Plays Spoiler
Record: Beat Vukojevac by 2, BHSU by 34 and College of Ware by 8 before losing to TCC by 1.
Verdict: The Wallabies are certainly the best TJUN-ian school so far despite that 1-point loss in Takshashila. Leaupepe Saveasi'uleo was pretty good in the 3 wins, but can this UWWB team challenge the dominance of Sadeg State?

3-1: Islanders Crash And Burn (Except Eldora)
Record: Beat Eldora by 8 before losing to Cemmendy Tech by 59, Pocono City Tech by 2 and PSH by 35
Verdict: Cemmendy Tech killed Al-Hilal in cold blood, signally a sudden slump in form. Ahmed Al-Malood has certainly tried in all 4 games, but can WHU save themselves from turning this slump into a fatal blow?

2-2: Los Leones Realy Like This Record, Don't They?
Record: Lost to MHU by 20, beat both Kellersilve State by 14 and KCU by 3 before falling to Penske College by 19.
Verdict: UC is consistently inconsistent and Carlandas doesn't know how it can change for the better. While performances by Jonathan Salvador were certainly good signs, this team cannot rise if they can't find consistency in their play.

1-3: Los Surfistas Back To Where They Were
Record: Beat Hispinas by 8 before losing to New Lakeland by 11, CGCU by 3 and Moravica by 17.
Verdict: Just as UP look like they were turning a corner, they fall back to the 1-3 that started with. Jucinara Benites was good a getting the score up sometimes, but this team needs to find themselves and fast.

2-2: Tight Wins Save Green Flash From Nothing
Record: Beat Buke by 1, lost to CHBS by 14 and Talladega by 24 before beating Blue Coast by 1.
Verdict: Let's get things straight: without clutch play by Martin Rudderford, UCPT is 7-7 and looking for answers. While this change of fortunes isn't good at all, Port Town will be hoping that things can turn around soon enough.

4-0: Grizzlies Shock The Nation, Become 2nd TJUN-ian 4-0er
Record: Beat the Unsigned Transfers All-Star Team by 16, Višnjevac by 13, EHCF by 2 and East Kalos College by 9.
Verdict: From 2-2 to 9-3, the rise of Central State has certainly come from nowhere to anyone outside of Szensky. Matvei Dzhanayev was the big man once again and it will be interesting to see if he and CenSta can keep this up.

1-3: Dragons Can Win, But Flaws Remain
Record: Lost to Baris by 14, then beat SGCU by 8 before falling to Dietrich by 6 and Corinth City by 3
Verdict: The three losses were by close margins, but the HPU can't manage to close each contest out with a win. Players like Song Qingwei are certainly playing their hearts out but with no clutch plays to be seen, could this team ever go on a run?

COLLEGE SCORECARD
CPortside Mariners: 9-3, 3rd in Pink 15
UWWB Wallabies: 10-2, 2nd in Five Star
Al-Hilal Islanders: 6-6, 9th in Calania
UC Leones: 6-6, 9th in Eternal
UP Surfistas: 4-8, 11th in Woodland
UCPT Green Flash: 7-5, 6th in Flying Drawk
CSU Grizzlies: 9-3, 2nd in B79
HPU Dragons: 3-9, 13th in Sealion

Cold Hill Staying Afloat at 6-6: Better than expected!

Alumni Deondre Rhine put it pretty well on twi.turr.

Image
Image
Image
Image@DiamondRhine Lol we had a basketball team?

Yup, that's pretty much what the entire sporting world, Ranorian or otherwise, is thinking, Deondre. What the hell is Ranorian basketball? Ranorians suck at anything that isn't gridiron or baseball. Why are they here? No one knows!

Anyway, at 6-6, Cold Hill isn't doing too terribly. Reiner Anneliese is leading the charge for the squad, which somehow has a .500 record despite a -71 point differential, with 22.2 points per game. Romney Kohler, the team's resident big man, is snagging seven rebounds a game to get us more possessions, but outside of that, the team is remarkably underwhelming, as is the expectation with Ranorian basketball.

Anneliese, despite not being at a premier school for college basketball, is being touted as a potential mid first round pick in the draft, or at least was before his team's rather dismal showing. Anneliese led Cold Hill to a quarterfinal and a semifinal the past two seasons, both the farthest the Buffalo had ever gotten on the basketball court.

Now a sophomore, -and thus draft eligible-- he likely agreed to not opt out of international competition in order to get one last strong run to push up his draft stock, and thus his salary. The team's lack of ability to win games has likely hurt that draft stock if they can't make a strong push in the later rounds of this thing. Because remember kids: if you can't elevate your team to win games, some pundits are always going to argue that your stats and success is a result of padding yourself up in garbage time!

We're hoping Reiner Anneliese, the 2x All Ranorian, can find a way to get his team over the hump and win a few conference tournament games, but there are no guarantees on the court. If he can't pull that off, he may lose out on millions come draft day. So stay tuned, and watch out for Reiner Anneliese of the Cold Hill Buffalo!
Fan of football, the Murican kind. But soccer is cool too! Just not really my thing. C(:^D/-<

Anything written only represents the character, not the user behind Banija nor the views of Banijans in general. Accordingly, this is the furthest thing from an unbiased source of information you'll find about the NSCAA.

The Coulibaly Corner: Your one stop shop for everything college football!

Hey guys! Welcome back to my corner of the internet for everything college football! I, of course, usually cover the NSCF, especially the two Banijan schools, as well as domestic college football here in Banija. But I'm a U of M grad, aren't I? The University of Moravica are the dictionary definition of a basketball school, especially these days. Two straight NSCAA Championship games, 3 years apart. Defending national champions. This year is finally our year, right?

As a U of M grad, I always pay attention to the NSCAAs. Now, this blog always gives you a different perspective. I can't talk to you about the X's and O's of basketball, and really don't have a damn clue which Banijan schools will have the biggest impact in the NSCAAs. But here's what I can do- rank nicknames. That's right! Your authoritative guide to the best nicknames in NSCAA 12. Part 2! The top 32 nicknames in this damn competition.

Without further ado!

Random Ranking- Nicknames

Now, the following is a list of the top 32 nicknames, in order.

*OOC Note: I only included schools with rosters up to and including Cassadaigua's roster post, as that is when I started writing this RP. Sorry to anyone whose nickname were released after that!

32 Université St. Croix Bleu et Blanc (Quebec)
31 Cold Hill Buffalo (Ranoria) - Also a NSCF school, which means they're automatically cooler than any non-NSCF pleb)
30 Universidad Carlandas Leones (TJUN-ia)
29 Mar Sara Tech Raiders (Valanora) - Also a NSCF school, which means they're automatically cooler than any non-NSCF pleb)
28 St. Leon Red Raiders (Commonwealth of Baker Park)
27 Loyola-Istria Blue Thunder (Banija)- Also a NSCF school, which means they're automatically cooler than any non-NSCF pleb)
26 Kumbhalgarh City College Aces (Pratapgadh)
25 Wagnor State College Dingos (Kohnhead)
24 Hendrick State Dinosaurs (The NASCAR Cup Series)
23 Atlantic Christian Crusaders (Barnettsville)
22 Tidewater State Green Wave (Barnettsville)
21 Instituto de Azucena Avispas/Wasps) (Hispinas)
20 Ipar-mendebaldeko Hispanako Unibertsitatea Mendizaleak/Mountaineers (Hispinas)
19 Sadeg State Skyhawks (Drawkland) - Also a NSCF school, which means they're automatically cooler than any non-NSCF pleb)
18 Dietrich Snowbears (Ranoria)
17 New Lakeland University Tycoons (Cassadaigua)
16 UCaribbean-Port Town Green Flash (TJUN-ia)
15 Universidad de Pacifico Surfistas (TJUN-ia)
14 Bunyoro A&M Waterbucks (Banija)
13 Sankt Adelheid Sea Eagles (Banija)
12 South Union Strongmen (St. Kanye)
11 Swisston City Army Knives (Kohnhead) - Also a NSCF school, which means they're automatically cooler than any non-NSCF pleb)

We can't talk about every school in this list(there are 21!), but we'll talk about a few. There are a number of creative nicknames here.

Of course, we have the South Union College Strongmen from St. Kanye. I love that. Sounds like the world's strongest man competition, doesn't it? There are some strong ones from Banija on this list. The Waterbucks- what a badass animal name, from a muscular looking antelope. The Sea Eagles from Sankt Adelheid- a great one. One that should get plenty of credit are the New Lakeland Tycoons. A great way of saying that "no matter what happens in today's game, you'll be working for us in five years." And can't argue with logic, can you?

The Green Flash and Mountaineers should also get a shoutout. And, of course, the Swisston City Army Knives. I had them tied with Strongmen, but hey- the Army Knives are about as efficient as it gets. Lots of creativity here. And look, I absolutely hate to say it, but Blue Thunder is also a pretty strong nickname. As a U of M grad, I don't like Loyola-Istria. I root for them twice a year, and that's when they play everybody's least favorite school, Northern Moravica. At no other time can I root for the Istria school.

Top 10
10 Cavsar University Gladiators (Drawkland) - Also a NSCF school, which means they're automatically cooler than any non-NSCF pleb)
9 Universidad de Hispinas Genios Verdes/Green Geniuses (Hispinas)
8 Barnley Tech Purple Demons (Kohnhead)
7 Colegio de Nuno Espirito Santo Fantasmas Morados/Purple Phantoms (Hispinas)
6 Matthensville Polytechnic Cryptokleptics (Ranoria)
5 Universitade Eldora Mudslingers (The NASCAR Cup Series)
4 Elmore Heights Correctional Facility Madd Doggs (St. Kanye)
3 Chandigarh Military Academy Strong Hearts (Pratapgadh)
2 North Ankole Headhunting Sloughis (Banija)
1 Northern-Parga State Ice Phoenixes (Kohnhead)

And for the top 10! Let's go down the list. First, we have the Gladiators. It's honestly a great nickname. It has history, it has the image of a warrior, somebody you strive to be, somebody you don't want to face- just checks off all the boxes. All due respect to my favorite Sonnel NSCF school.

Next, we have three colored nicknames. First, the Green Geniuses. Look- it's a great nickname. Throw the school color on there, and it makes you think the logo is some sort of alien with an IQ of 187. Great job to their founders. And next, we have the last of the colored nicknames, the Purple Phantoms and the Purple Demons. Great nicknames. Imagine if you got attacked by a purple demon? Both intimidating, and both you could take a lot of pride in.

And now, maybe our most controversial yet- the Cryptokleptics. What do they love? Cryptocurrency. And crypto is the future. If the Ranorian dollar(or whatever they use, I don't live there) crashes, they'll be rich. Look, crypto is inherently speculative- but to name your entire school nickname after it? Mad respect. Imagine losing to a team that is named after crypto, and then knowing that there's a decent chance that half of the kids in their student section could make your coach's yearly salary tomorrow, as long as the right billionaire says the right thing on twii.tur. Genius.

And now for the top 5! The Mudslingers. Brilliant. Who came up with that name? I want to give them money(although not tuition dollars). The image of a mudslinger- somebody who's willing to do whatever it takes, no matter the cost. From the NASCAR Cup Series. Next, we have the Madd Doggs. I don't even know who allows them into this competition. They're not a real college! But they're devastating at this sport. They'll crush you. And Madd Doggs? Just backs it up.

Next, we have the top 3. It was hard to distinguish here- but we had to make a choice. First, the Stronghearts. Coming from a military academy. It's honestly the smartest way to do things. Stronghearts is a nickname that is fitting of a military academy. Shows what you want from your future soldiers- strong literally, strong willed, strong morals. Lots of valor. If you talk about a nickname that fits a school like a glove, well, Stronghearts is it.

Next, at two, we have the Headhunting Sloughis from North Ankole. Now, a sloughi is one of those few breeds of dogs that are actually native to Banija. We've had a lot of foreign dog species intro'd to the country over the years- from Quebec, Siovanija & Teusland, and other neighboring countries. But points for that. And then, the headhunting part. Sloughis historically have been used for hunting. And throw in the head portion- the fierce of a sloughi. It'll hunt you down and go for the throat themselves. Absolutely brilliant. Full marks.

But they are just shy of number one. And who is number one? That's right- the Northern-Parga State Ice Phoenixes. A mythological, very powerful creature. It is wise. And if it goes down in flames, it is re-born. They will never truly die. That rebirth, plus the general badassness of what one of these would look like, is why I have to award the Ice Phoenixes as having the #1 nickname in the NSCAAs.
Former champion of quite a few things. Former President of even more things.

THE ROCKET REPORT

SETTLEMENT REACHED

By Taylor Larson,

It may have taken twelve games, but finally a settlement has been reached in the issue of the players from the eight Newmanistanian institutions playing in NSCAA 12 about being compensated for their tournament appearances. We could call it a settlement, but it turns out that most of the players decided to break away from the mastermind of the issue, Phil Huntley of Pocono CIty Tech. Other players decided that they no longer wanted to participate in the “case” (although a lawsuit was not actually filed), and realized that they will proceed without additional compensation for their efforts.

Chris Parker from the University of Tundra Falls, called it a relief. “I had an interview with this reporter from Saint Kanye after I hit the game winner at the buzzer, and he was asking me for my name. I told him that I was not allowed to tell him, and after he realized that I was not joking, you could tell that he was really annoyed by it. I am not a rude person, and felt it was stupid to withhold our names for as long as we did. I mean, anyone could probably figure it out.” Jalen Gross, of Loudon Empire University, shared that sentiment, “Man, you know we should be getting paid for this, but it is really dumb to not tell anyone our names, like what the hell was even the point of that. We let the nerds from Pock City Tech talk us into doing something dumb and I swear this will be the last time.” Huntley, who tried to band the players together said that he was “disappointed in the lack of unity in the mission. We could have prevailed in this fight and made money from this.” Some have pointed out that Pock City Tech players are the least likely of the eight schools playing to see their players have significant success in the ENBA.

In general, Newmanistan schools are not playing all that well, but are not playing poorly either. Perhaps, now with their names going back on their jerseys, and everyone in the world knowing who they are, they will have additional motivation to perform well.
