Valanora Times
Where do we stand?

The conclusion of the regular season of the NSCAA allows the teams a moment to breathe before diving head first into the conference tournaments, where those teams that did not win the regular season and the automatic berth into the Ultra 64 will be looking to ride their luck to a conference tournament win and the other automatic berth that conference play allows. Two schools from the Eternal Empire have already punched their tickets to the Ultra 64 by the way of winning their conference regular season, as Turbani Tech and Everlin University were able to overcome the other fifteen schools in their respective conferences to be crowned champions. Across the board, Vanorian schools did fairly well during the regular season and most of the schools, if not all eight of them, will be looking at their tournaments and believing that they have as good as shot as any of the other teams that are playing off against as to be lifting the trophy at the end of the next four days of desperate, high intensity basketball and all the prizes that comes with being able to successfully navigate that stretch.

Turbani and Everlin won their championships in completely different fashions and it speaks a lot to the variety of play among the schools, even if most Vanorian school of thought when it comes to the sport is to live and die by the three point line with dazzling guard play. Turbani allowed the fewest points in all of the NSCAA this season, one of two teams from any conference not to allow over two thousand points during the double round robin. They built themselves a solid defensive scheme that made you have to battle for every single possession and work for every point that you put on the board. Their scoring was built off the fast break from the turnovers that they forced their opposition to create as well as quick transition from rebounds up the court. Everlin just happens to be the only other team to allow under two thousand points but despite that good defensive record, it was stellar offensive work that they built their team around, tiring out their opposition on the offensive side of the ball with quick passing and great guard play, as their foes would be too tired out in the second half of the game to keep up with the highly conditioned Everlin side.

Both South Caddonia and the University of Hondo will be a bit disappointed with themselves, having look at large portions of the season to be in line to join Everlin and Turbani as potential conference winners, but a few too many upsets in the case of South Caddonia and a nemesis in the form of University of Suryapur kept that dream from becoming a reality. Both teams should be sure locks for the Ultra 64 and will be likely looking to use the tournament to get a bit of confidence put back into them as well as jockey for a better seed once the championship tournament does come around. We can not miss out on what Mar Sara Tech did though, as they went from looking like they were going to miss out on the Ultra 64 with a month left in the regular season, to being a soft lock for the tournament winning their last ten games and looking a completely different team than what we saw in the first half. A win in the first round should be enough for the Raiders to punch their ticket but getting to the semifinals of the Five Star Conference tournament will make that a hard lock for the team to get in.

If there is a team with work to do, it is the Rockets of Raynor University, though much like Tech, they are in a far stronger position than we thought they would be going into the tournament. Winning eight of their last ten games, the Rockets were able to get to the magic twenty win mark that is normally a safe lock for the championship tournament, however this year looks to be the bubble line. They face Northern Grey County Provincial University in the first round of their tournament, knowing a win makes their case a bit stronger for the Ultra 64, but they would really need another win to feel comfortable. Unfortunately due to being the fifth seed, they are likely looking at Chittorgarh University from Pratapgadh in that second round. All the teams from Pratapgadh have had stellar seasons and the Rockets know that it will be an uphill battle should the two teams meet, but a win there would be enough to secure their spot in the championship tournament, which is a big achievement for a side that looked completely out of it five weeks ago.

Sabinal State and the Rinaldi Naval Academy are both soft locks for the tournament, both with twenty two wins to their name and getting the third and fourth seed respectively in their tournaments as a result. For them, they are going to be like Hondo and South Caddonia, using the conference tournament to try and improve their standing with the selection committee and hopefully get a higher line. Both teams also could do with a big win against a higher seed, with both schools having struggled against the better teams in their respective conferences. A win over any of the higher seeds for either school would do wonders for not only their standing in the selection committee's eyes but also their psyche as they get ready for the madness that is the Ultra 64.

The Kohnhead Conference Tournament Primer

The Regular Season has come to a close in the 12th season of the NSCAA and Kohnheadian schools have done quite well for themselves with all eight putting themselves in decent position to make it to the Ultra 64. While we were unable to win any conferences we did quite well in all of them and even had some runner ups which was really good to see.

Dawson Community College
Conference: Salamantica Conference
Pre-Season Ranking: 8
Current Ranking: 1
Record: 25-5
Game 29: Dawson Community College (KHD) 69–68 Osheana State University (CBP)
Game 30: Kanyean Air Force Academy (STK) 79–77 Dawson Community College (KHD)
Seed: 2
First Round Matchup: #15 South Western Grey County Provincial University (GRC)

Dawson Community College came out of literally nowhere to be the best team from Kohnhead this season going 25-5 and finishing 2nd in the Salamantica Conference right behind Chandigarh Military Academy who finished 29-1 as one of five schools from Pratapgadh who won conferences. While Dawson had a chance to catch them and almost beat them to put a tie in the standings they failed to losing just barely and since then have done just okay but were so dominant during the early portions of the season that they are seven wins clear of 4th. The loss to the Kanyean Air Force Academy on the road hurts but they are a quality school and it didn't do much in the standings. While I like what this team did, I just can't see them getting past Chandigarh however a trip to the Conference finals is definitely a possibility and they should be a decently high seed come the Ultra 64 a tournament they will definitely be making.

Wangor State College
Conference: Orange 16 Conference
Pre-Season Ranking: 6
Current Ranking: 2
Record: 23-7
Game 29: High Scool of Sataran City (DOT) 59–79 Wangor State College (KHD)
Game 30: Wangor State College (KHD) 90–83 Trinity College (LIS)
Seed: 2
First Round Matchup: (15) High Scool of Sataran City (DOT)

It was a very good season for the Dingos who stayed with Cavsar University for most of the season in the Orange 16 Conference but just didn't have enough firepower to earn themselves the #1 seed and an automatic birth in the Ultra 64 although they are probably in no matter what. It was a good 2-0 conclusion to the season although only beating a four win team by seven points is quite concerning to say the least especially when it was at home on Senior Night however they can be cut some slack given most players were already looking ahead to the tournament with the two seed already secured. We get another match with the High School of Sataran City whom we just beat on the road by 20 in our 29th game. I do think Cavsar are a beatable team evidenced by their 25-5 record I just don't know if Wangor State are the team that can beat them.

Swisston City University
Conference: Sealion Conference
Pre-Season Ranking: 2
Current Ranking: 3
Record: 23-7
Game 29: University of Birmingham (APY) 61–75 Swisston City University (KHD)
Game 30: Swisston City University (KHD) 70–67 Endborough College (CBP)
Seed: 3
First Round Matchup: (14) University of Baris (BOH)

It was a decent conclusion to the season for Swisston City who only could beat the University of Birmingham from Appalachian Nation by 14 and didn't impress against Endborough from the Commowealth of Baker Park only winning after hittting some clutch free throws late however Endborough finished 6th so it was a good team we were playing. Unfortunately Swisston City lost out for second in the conference on tiebreakers with fellow NSCF school Loyola-Istria beating us out in that. In addition the Army Knives were only one game behind 1 seed Karnavati College another one of the conference winners from Pratapgadh, showing how competitive the conference was. For that reason Swisston City do have a good chance of winning the Sealion Conference and their journey will start off with a game against eight win University of Baris.

University of Kohnface City
Conference: Sky Blue Conference
Pre-Season Ranking: 5
Current Ranking: T4
Record: 22-8
Game 29: University of Kohnface City (KHD) 83–88 Raynor University (VAL)
Game 30: Northern Grey County Provincial University (GRC) 79–92 University of Kohnface City (KHD)
Seed: 3
First Round Matchup: (14) Universidade de Lerna (LIS)

The Five Musketeers suffered a hard fought loss to Raynor University from Valanora with the NSFC school beating us by five at home. Valanora are definitely a good nation when it comes to college basketball so that loss definitely hurts a little less and we were still able to grab the three seed by defeating a school from Grey County in our final game. This team suffered a poor start to the season and really came on late however I don't know if they have the talent to take down Brattleboro or Elmanden when it matters most. While they should be in to the Ultra 64 no matter what happens in the Conference Tournament a long run would do their seeding wonders.

Northern-Parga State
Conference: Planetary Conference
Pre-Season Ranking: 7
Current Ranking: T4
Record: 22-8
Game 29: Northern-Parga State (KHD) 59–86 University of Suryapur (PRT)
Game 30: Unibersidad sa Cebuenas (HSP) 66–71 Northern-Parga State (KHD)
Seed: 3
First Round Matchup: (14) Ranoria State University (RAN)

The third three seed from Kohnhead is Northern-Parga State who had an even worse start that Kohnface City but played really well in the middle of the regular season and have locked themselves into the three seed. While it wouldn't have mattered for seeding purposes the game against the champion University of Suryapur from you guessed it Pratapgadh gave us a good chance to assert ourselves before the tournament. That went about as poorly as it could have losing by 27 in front of our home fans although we traveled to Hispanis and beat the 5th seed Unibersidad sa Cebuenas in the next one to ease the pain of that loss and to lock up the three seed. Overall as shown by our loss to Suryapur this team really isn't going to win the conference and shouldn't be but they can definitely compete with some of the better teams as evidenced by the win against Cebuenas, just like Kohnface City they're pretty much in the tourney.

Kohnhead City University
Conference: Eternal Conference
Pre-Season Ranking: 1
Current Ranking: 6
Record: 21-9
Game 29: University of Concord Heights (CDG) 73–70 Kohnhead City University (KHD)
Game 30: Kohnhead City University (KHD) 68–86 Bunyoro A&M University (BNJ)
Seed: 4
First Round Matchup: (13) Pallet Town University (DUR)

It was a poor conclusion to the season for Kohnhead City as the Mighty Eagles had two good chances to get themselves statement victories with Concord Heights being the two seed and Bunyoro being the five seed although three wins behinus. We fluffed these chances however and finished the season 0-2 although the loss to Concord Heights was quite close. Because of this we now enter the Eternal Conference as the four seed and I don't really see the Mighty Eagles going too far given the 18 point loss to Bunyoro and failure to beat a very good Concord Hieghts squad. While I do expect KCU to make the Ultra 64 I think their ceiling in the tournament is pretty low.

Castle College
Conference: Pink 15 Conference
Pre-Season Ranking: 4
Current Ranking: 7
Record: 21-9
Game 29: Castle College (KHD) 83–48 Universidade do Sudoeste (LIS)
Game 30: Wyndon College (DUR) 79–84 Castle College (KHD)
Seed: 5
First Round Matchup: (12) Laneca University (GRC)

It was a good ending to the season for Castle College and helped them secure the five seed in the Pink 15 Conference with a dominant win against a 13 win school from Lisander in their 29th game before closing their regular season a bit poorly as they only beat 10 win Wyndon College by five points. Nevertheless the Knigths are ready for the tournament and they open against an NSCF school in Laneca University from Grey County and are the second school from Kohnhead to have a first round matchup with a school from Grey County. They despite not having the worst record of the Kohnheadian schools are the only one to not be a top four seed.

University of Barnley Tech
Conference: Royal Conference
Pre-Season Ranking: 3
Current Ranking: 8
Record: 19-11
Game 29: University of Boxford (BOH) 77–89 University of Barnley Tech (KHD)
Game 30: University of Barnley Tech (KHD) 74–71 Bakina Stijena University (RAS)
Seed: 4
First Round Matchup: (13) College of the Air Force (VNG)

It wasn't a very convincing 2-0 finish to the season for the team that may have as the one Kohnheadian team in major trouble when it comes to being on the bubble. Barnley Tech despite their four seed finished two wins worse than any other team from Kohnhead however the Royal Conference is pretty open and so a run is possible especially with the four seed. These wins are quite concerning as we couldn't pull away from Boxford (13-17, 10th in Conference) and barely beat Bakina Stijena (14-16, 8th in Conference). However there's a reason why this team was given the projection of third best in Kohnhead and while we haven't seen much of that this season there's still time for them to turn it on.

Genia i Plava Vila won the games

Postby Dotivija » Mon Mar 22, 2021 11:46 am

Develop society through sports and science!

Dotivian society has been developing strongly in recent years. The young nation of Dotivija, which emerged from the difficult conflicts of unification of the regions, is developing its economic capacities. Dotivia is looking for a way to improve her position in the world.

"We have designed a program for young people in Dotivija. It is a program funded by the Ministry of Science and Education and the Ministry of Sports. Sports clubs will register in the joint register, visit primary schools and present their programs. Furthermore, universities will organize a university Olympics and a fair. where they will present themselves to athletes and clubs. In this way, we want to send a clear message that sport and education are the backbone of the development of our society. " Prime minister say on TV Show.

New sports facilities are being built across the country. And in the city of Genia is the Genia University. Two basketball teams from two universities in that city are playing NSCAA 12! which of course brought basketball back to the top of the sport in Dotivija.

However, the Plava Vila College advanced further in its conference by winning against the favored team from Raspotochje, Višnjevac Univerity.
Višnjevac is the strongest university team from Raspotochje, this is a great result for the Blue Villa College.

Univerity of Višnjevac (RAS) 56–79Plava Vila College

Genia University won the match against NIFB Virkaj.
There was no uncertainty, Genia kept the result in the lead from the beginning to the end, the only question was with what difference they would win.
With this game Genia can beat any opponent.

Genia University 91–76 NIFB Virkaja (SVJ)

After one day of the conference tournaments, all eight Vanorian schools are still alive and kicking, each of the respective teams having fairly comfortable victories in order to advance to the second round of the various conference tournaments. This was the easy part for all eight schools however, with the lowest seed that any of the schools had was fifth, Raynor University being that school, and every team was expected to have a victory. For Mar Sara Tech, that win in theory pushes them above the hypothetical bubble line and should have them be a sure fire lock for the Ultra 64, but they would most definitely feel a lot more comfortable with another win and an appearance in the the semifinals of the Five Star. Likewise, Raynor is now on that bubble territory with their first round victory and this is where it gets really tricky, as they have to play against fourth seed Chittorgarh University of Pratapgadh. The Rockets had a great shooting night when the two teams played against each other in the nation's capital, winning 93 to 61 but the fortunes were reversed in the reverse fixture with the Rockets falling 83 to 62.

The Rockets rubber match with the hardest possible matchup in the quarterfinals is just another theme for the schools from the Eternal Empire. While chalk might have been the case for the opening day for the majority of the conference tournaments, the teams that remain now are generally the competent and very disciplined teams that are going to be capable of giving anyone left a run for their money, regardless of the seeding that they entered into the tournament with. One could even argue that no one that is left alive in any of the conference tournaments has any easy games remaining, with competition stepping up for the conference tournaments and then the madness and chaos that is the Ultra 64 itself. While a few of the higher seeds might have more comfortable matches in this round and in the opening round of the Ultra 64, none of them are games that you would go so far as to call easy, even without knowledge of what the bracket for the championship tournament might end up being. These teams are now in the gauntlet and if they are to be champions, they will have to run it and not fall out from the pressure that will be put down upon them.

Mar Sara Tech will be revisiting an NSFC rival in the second round, playing against six seed Universite St. Croix from Quebec, a game that they should be favored to advance from but need to be cautious of USC springing the upset. Everlin University has perhaps the easiest of the second round fixture, playing against nine seeds Calamari County College. According to the seedings Turbani Tech would be a huge favorites like Everlin, also taking on a nine seed in their second round game, but Basko Unibertsitatea is no normal nine seed, hailing from Hispinas. While they have been streaky, most schools from Hispinas usually have a good amount of talent and should not be taken lightly, even for a conference winner like Turbani. The Rinaldi Naval Academy has another four seed versus five seed match, with them being the four seed, as they will take on Hongxai People's University from TJUN-ia. The TJUN-ia schools have given a fairly good account of themselves and the Corsairs will have their hands full if they want to advance. Sabinal State has a bit of a tricky three versus six situation with Universitade Eldora but having been in with a shout for the conference title, it should be a game they should win. South Caddonia will be getting a bit of TJUN-ia exposure as well, taking on the seven seeded University of the Caribbean at Port Town, a game which should be closer than what the seeds indicate but the school from Caddo ought to have enough to win. Lastly University of Hondo has a surprise two versus ten matchup, as the Baker Park school of University of Ezra pulled an upset against one of the bluebloods in Loudon Empire University of Newmanistan to get here. That quality should make Hondo wary but if they play their game, it should be enough.

These set of games will be tough for the Vanorian contingent and they will test them quite heavily, however each and every school is at least a slight favorite in their games, even those really difficult and tight four versus five seed matches. All the teams have worked desperately hard to get into this position over the course of the season, with the Raynor and Mar Sara having to fight back while Everlin and Turbani showcased Vanorian excellence, and all the others battled their way to their positions. It is a labor of love, a labor of passion to put in the effort and it would be quite a waste for it all to fall apart now and these players and teams know that. Expect to see the best of these players as they battle to get one step closer towards the championship round.

Simba's Savannah
A fan community around Banija's national basketball teams

Hey guys! Welcome to this corner of the internet. This is Simba's Savannah. This is a basketball blog that covers, well, everything basketball about our national teams! Future national team prospects, Commonwealth Games qualifiers, the IBCs, youth national team camps- everything about team Banija on the hardwood.

We're going to talk about the Banijan teams that need help. Now, we've got four Banijan teams with at least 22 wins, who will be in the Big Dance. Loyola-Istria(23-7), Sankt Adelheid(22-8), U of Moravica(22-8), and North Ankole 22-8. Those four are definitely in. They all avoided major upsets in the first round of conference tournaments as well, all earning strong wins. Some stronger than others. Loyola-Istria struggled mightily against an 8-22 U of Birmingham side, in a game that went down to the final possession. But a one point win against a bad team is better than the alternative, which would've been a one point loss, right? U of Moravica, on the other hand, won by 50. But with those wins(remember Adelheid has won 15 games in a row and counting at this point) these teams are not only good, but they'll get decent seeds. At least seeds good enough to get to the second round with ease.

But we got four schools on the bubble. Heshima & Usian(16-14), Northern Moravica(17-13), Bunyoro A&M(18-12), and Kizza I College(19-11). All these teams, short of 20 wins, need help. Bring on the madness!

Bring on the Madness

Each of those four schools need a varying degree of madness(read as: upset victories) to advance to the Ultra 64. HOw much does each need?

Heshima & Usian(16-14)- need to win the conference tournament

There's no way around this- they are Banija's worst school. Which isn't bad, we had 8 schools all go above .500. But this team is barely above it. They can't get an at-large bid when they are barely above .500. The only way they'll get in is if they make the NSCAA let them in. Only way they can do that is by winning the tournament in Cebuenas. One game at a time. Their next game? Only against a 25-5 conference champion Cavsar University. They need an upset. Anything to stop the unstoppable force that are the giant Drawks. Is a miracle on the table?

Northern Moravica(17-13)- need to get to conference tournament final

Northern Moravica is also in need of quality wins. At 17 wins, that isn't enough for the Committee to put them in as an at-large. You'd think one more win against an elite opponent could put them in, right? Or maybe two. Fortunately, they get an opportunity. The Cougars will take on Frostvale Tech of St. Kanye in their next conference tournament game. A win against them won't guarantee a spot in the tournament. But a loss will guarantee that their season is over. Can they extend it by at least one more game in Newmanistan?

Bunyoro A&M(18-12)- Firmly on the bubble

It's hard to rate this team. They've been up and down. Hot streaks, and then cold streaks. They've won 60% of their games though, which is a positive sign. They won their first round conference tournament game easy, defeating their Baker Park opponents by 23. But that didn't really shift the needle. What would be a great way to get the Committee's attention? By downing KCU. KCU is a team that's safe, and that'd be one more win on the ol' resume for Bunyoro A&M against a tournament team. Plus, it'd be win #20 overall, which would have to hit the magic number.

Kizza I College(19-11)- Firmly on the bubble, although ahead of Bunyoro A&M

It's also hard to rate the public school in Busukuma. They hit win #20 already in the first round of the conference tournament. But is that enough? At 19-11, they feel like they should be safe. They went to the FInal Four three years ago in NSCAA 11- maybe that helps? Who knows. Here's what we know- they'd sleep more easily at night if they added another win to their resume. An upset against Northern-Parga State of Kohnhead could go a long way in bolstering their resume in front of the Committee. If they can get at least one more win against Northern-Parga State, they should be able to silence their doubters and start making plans for the tournament itself.

Baker Park teams crawling towards Ultra 64
by Kent Swisher, Senior College Basketball Writer

The current NSCAA 12 season can be said--on current form & results--to be the worst showing by the UAC's chosen entries over the three editions that college basketball teams from the Commonwealth have participated.

In the last NSCAA season, only University of Baker Park had a sub-standard final record (11-18) in comparison to their domestic success; Lynchana University made their conference semi-final to end 14-17, while Endover (19-12), University of Ezra (22-11), St Leon (21-11) and Osheana State (20-11) carried the UAC banner; U of Osheana (18-14) and the best BP squad from NSCAA 10, Coolville State (15-15) rounded out a solid octet that further strengthened the Commonwealth's reputation.

But now that the 30 game regular season has concluded and the various NSCAA conferences are holding their post season Championship tournaments, the numbers have flipped although the current teams are finding some post-season silver linings.

Only Kellerville State failed to advance out of the opening round in their conference, ending with a 12-19 mark. The three teams who have outside chances at making the Ultra 64--St Leon, Endborough College and Osheana State--have seen their stock rise a bit with wins, but could probably do with another victory or two to move off the bubble.

As for the others, it's been a hard row to hoe; University of Belle Haven and Belle Haven State both had 12-18 records before securing upsets, and Ezra was a game worse at 11-19, but also pulled off a surprise. Northern Baker Park finished at 16-14 and earned a pass into their quarterfinal over Pocono City Tech, a longtime Newmanistan hoop powerhouse.

Perhaps there will be a re-think of how teams are selected for the competition in light of these results, but the benefits in experience and playing higher level opponents is certainly worth continuing the excercise in the future.

Perfect 8-0 in the first round,
By Chloe Dufresne, Concord Heights Times

All of the Cassadagan schools were favorites in the first round of their conference tournament, so it is not a massive surprise that all of them picked up wins in the games. However, you never know when a spoiler might arise. There were not alot of first round upsets across all of the conferences, and when they did happen, we were not involved. Here is the report of the first round action from our schools.

University of Concord Heights- As the number 2 seed, they took care of University of Pormut by the score of 84-60, and will take on Keisler College, out of Newmanistan, a school that was named after a baseball pitcher. Pretty impressive actually, but Keisler College has been around the NSCAA for a long time so needs to be respected in this upcoming game. Sources are sketchy, but evidently there was a social media post from that college saying that UCH PF Tara Cohen, “chose the wrong Concord Heights school. Just look at her.” Cohen has not responded to the post yet, as after all it is probably just trash talk from a drunk student there. Katie Miller was the leading scorer against Pormut with 19 points, but the overall balance in the point distribution was impressive. If UCH plays their game, Keisler College will not be able to keep up.

New Lakeland University- Not only is New Lakeland University tied for first in the Woodlands Conference in football, they are also the top seed in the Woodland Conference basketball, and they had no problem doing away with University de Bornell, who will be happy that their NSCAA nightmare has now come to an end. Coach Kelsey Stratton said of Bornell that, “The NSCAA competition is tough, and not for everyone. I don’t know how you can take any positives out of their season, but I hope they can find something.” Like UCH, they take on a school from Newmanistan next, #9 seed Olympia Empire University. Outspoken New Lakeland University alumnus Kaitlin Benson proclaimed that, “Olympia is no match for the Tycoons.” New Lakeland players themselves have been a little more modest.

Brattleboro Technical Institute- The Brats were the number one seed in the Sky Blue Conference, and Inkopolis University saw why as the Brats won by 30, scoring 101 points. Rachel St. Clair was the leading scorer with 35 points, 23 of which were before halftime. This could have been an even bigger win, but coach Rachel Thorpe did elect to give players on the bench more minutes than they would typically. Brattleboro Tech will have tougher games down the road, with the winner of the 4-5 game in the semifinals looming as a big challenge if they are able to take down #9 Susquehanna of Barnettsville. I don’t see why they wouldn’t.

University of Victoriaville- They played better down the stretch in conference play, allowing them to move up into the #5-seed, so they hope this trend can continue. Xanneria’s Upper Plymouth Institute of Technology gave them an early scare, however, leading 39-32 at the intermission. For UV, the shots weren’t falling, but whatever they went over at halftime worked, as they were much better down the stretch, and even pulled away to what seems like a more comfortable 10-point win than it really was. They won’t be favored against Kohnhead’s Barnley Tech, so must start more efficiently.

Starksville Medical Institute- It is possible that SMI is on the bubble for making the Ultra 64, although I am optimistic that they are just a little bit above that. A win in their second round game, versus #2-seed Wangor State College (23-7), out of Kohnhead, would likely lock them into the tournament, but beating Wangor will be tough. An 88-67 win in the first round, where they were led by Stacey Pickett’s 20 points was good to see, but now they will wear the underdog cap.

Concord Heights Beauty School-
After finishing 18-12, and earning the #6 seed, the Beauty School is also on the bubble for the Ultra 64, but hopefully a little bit above it. They started the conference tournament well, with an 83-71 win over University Kotiga, but have a much tougher foe now in #3-seed Colegio de Nuno Espirito Santo, from Hispinas. This is a pivotal game for CHBS, and I do feel that they can pull this one out, hopefully due to their experience. But they have been good in conference tournaments, too, making you wonder if they are the type of team who is built for knockout games rather than season games. If they win over CNES, then I think that is a fair assessment of the team. Forward Meghann Castan also noticed the social media post directed towards University of Concord Heights’ Tara Cohen implying that Cohen would have benefitted from going to CHBS instead by saying, “That’s kind of insulting to us too, but we are used to it. I thought we were over people not treating us like a serious school of higher education just because of what our academic focus is. I guess not.”

Grande Mountain University- GMU is in good form right now after finishing fourth in the Calania Conference, and they come off a 19-point victory over Squidroidia Armed Forces Academy. That’s a country who had a disappointing showing across the board here in the NSCAA tournament, but at least none of them were as bad as the University de Bornell. Tara Hopkins led the way for the NSCAA 3 champions with 23 points in that 83-64 victory. At this time, Grande Mountain is playing for seeding in the Ultra 64 and a win over the #5 seed, Pamantasan ng Silangang Hispinas, would certainly be considered a quality win. 4 vs 5 games are usually very entertaining, and I don’t expect anything less.

Seth Johnson College- It has been a very successful campaign for the men of Seth Johnson College, picking up the #3 seed in conference play, but they are not satisfied with just that. They beat Pewter City University in convincing fashion, 82-66, in a game that led by 25 points at one point before putting in the subs for the duration of the game. Baker Park’s Osheana State is the next opponent. Chandigarh Military Academy has drawn the majority of the headlines in the Salamantica, but no one is going to give them the tournament trophy just yet. For SJC though, that game would not happen until the championship and there is plenty of business to take care of beforehand.

DROP IT DOWN!: 7-1 In First Tourney Blows

Postby TJUN-ia » Tue Mar 23, 2021 10:33 am

And so, here we are: the Conference Championships, a final chance for many teams in the NSCAA to try and book their ticket into the Elite 64 Tournament. With all 8 of TJUN-ia's teams in action, let's see how they all got on in Round 1.

It Was Close, But Mariners Carry On
Record: Beat Three Sisters College by 8
Verdict: The 14th seeds in Three Sisters College certainly put up a good fight in this game but in the end, CPortside were just too hot to handle overall. Peter Klivert was certainly clutch and they will need that in the Quarters, where they will take on the 11th seeds in Wyndon College.

Wallabies Dispatch 15th Seed With Ease
Record: Beat Motostoke by 21
Verdict: It was a very simple day for UWWB as they dispatched the 15th seeded University of Motostoke with little effort in the Five Star Tournament. Epeli Malolo was great in this one and we'll see how this team gets on against the 7th seeded College of Ware in the Quarters.

Islanders Odds Ones Out
Record: Lost to Austin College by 8
Verdict: In the only upset in both TJUN-ia and the Calania, Al-Hilal fell to a spirited performance by 10th seeds Austin College. Ahmed Al-Malood certainly tried to keep this game in the balance but in the end, it just wasn't to be. See you next time, Islanders!

Los Leones Shows It's Good Side For Once
Record: Beat KCU by 12
Verdict: The "coin toss team" known as UC Basketball actually worked out here, beating 9th seeded Kentucky Commonwealth by double digits by the end. Luis Lainez certainly helped here and they will certainly need all the help they can get in the Quarters as they take on the 1 seeds in Ducentu State.

Waters Choppy, But Los Surfistas Survive
Record: Beat Vricksinburg State by 5
Verdict: It certainly wasn't easy in this one but in the end, UP just about managed to hold off the 11th seeded VSU in this tight contest. Andressa Alves was certainly key in getting this team over the line and against 3rd seeded Hispinas, they may need that and more.

In Flying Drawk Chalk, Green Flash Flies High
Record: Beat Bayview State by 49.
Verdict: Beating a team by 49 points should be a huge statement but with other games in this conference going similar ways, no one really knows how good this UCPT team actually is. Kendra Braithwaite was brilliant out there, but no one knows how things will go against 2nd seeds South Caddonia.

Grizzlies Squash Newton State In Blowout
Record: Beat Newton State by 22
Verdict: While the 22-point margin was worse than the 27-point one in Game 30, CSU still cleaned house against Newton State with relative ease. Aleksei Zobnin was just everywhere in this game and against the 11th seeded Unsigned Transfers All-Star Team, there is an expectation for more of the same.

Dragons Survive OT Nailbiter In Sealion
Record: Beat Saguenay by 1 in OT
Verdict: In what was certainly the game of the day involving TJUN-ian teams, HPU would just about out last Saguenay 72-71 after regulation ended with both teams on 64. Ma Rui was the one who got the winning points in the end and many will hope for better against the 4th seeded Rinaldi Naval Academy.

COLLEGE SCORECARD
CPortside Mariners: 22-8, 3rd in Pink 15
UWWB Wallabies: 23-7, 2nd in Five Star

UC Leones: 14-16, 8th in Eternal
UP Surfistas: 16-14, 6th in Woodland
UCPT Green Flash: 18-12, 7th in Flying Drawk
CSU Grizzlies: 22-8, 3rd in B79
HPU Dragons: 18-12, 5th in Sealion
1st: ECC4/5, NSSCRA13, RLWC22, IBS20, EBT3, EIHT2

THE ROCKET REPORT

KEISLER’S ANDREWS SENT HOME EARLY

Keisler College is still alive in the NSCAA Tournament, but any more games that they have will be without the services of starting shooting guard Todd Andrews due to comments that the freshman made on twii’tur about a player on his school’s next opponent, University of Concord Heights. It was Andrews that posted that Tara Cohen, who plays for UCH, “chose the wrong Concord Heights school. Just look at her.” This is obviously in reference to the fact that Cassadaigua’s Concord Heights has two schools in the competition, with the other one being the Concord Heights Beauty School. Both of these institutions are regulars within the NSCAA tournament.

Keisler’s coach, Damian Ellis, called the comment, “one of the dumbest things I have seen a player do while I was their coach. We are an underdog against that team in our next game, and he provides bulletin board material for them, and does it while making an offensive comment to begin with. Todd Andrews will not be continuing in any more games for Keisler College during the NSCAA tournament. He is a freshman, so I hope that he can be a better person going forward and can learn from this mistake.” Andrews gave the tired ol’ excuse that someone hacked into his account to do so, but eventually relented on that after realizing no one was buying it, saying that, “I was just joking, really. I am sorry that she is mad.” Not the greatest apology, either, as it seems like he is more upset that Cohen noticed the twii rather than for what he actually said. Right now, he probably should be glad that the school is not implementing any additional punishment, but we could hear more in the days to come. Keisler College, unless they have a Cinderella run that leads to winning the conference tournament, will not be heading to the big dance.

There will not be many schools from Newmanistan going to the final tournament, as they have been overmatched in what has been a very competitive tournament. It has been a joy to watch all of the goings on in the tournament and all the new schools making an impact, although that has been at the expense of Newmanistanian schools. Things aren’t terribly bleak at the moment, but consider:

Keisler College is a #10 seed, and just had a player stupidly provide inspiration to their next opponent, a former champion, in the University of Concord Heights.

Olympia Empire is a #9 seed, and about to also lose to a former champion from Cassadaigua, New Lakeland University. In the event that Olympia Empire pulls off an upset, it’s not impossible to think they could get some bubble consideration from that win, but they will need to pull off a few upsets.

Southport University has actually been playing pretty well, but even that has only given them a #5 seed. They should be going to the big dance, but as other schools get knocked out, they are the silver lining for us. They will be under the radar somewhat in the big tournament, so that could help them out.

University of Tundra Falls has been doing an excellent job, and is the absolute bright spot, but we should not have expected anything less. They have an impressive history in conference tournaments and getting automatic berths. This is something that may happen again, as they are the #2 seed in the Big 7/9. Not sure if the fans in Drawkland believe in this side or not, but there is no other college, I believe, in this conference, that has a portal to Drawkland right in their home city. Therefore, we are sure there are alot of UTF fans that have the trip!

Empress Jessica I University is a #4 seed and another one that seems to be heading for the big tournament, but they will want to keep on winning so they impress the committee enough to rank them highly on their lists. The University of Talladega is next, but there will be no restrictor plates on the effort of this team.

College of Centralia, Pocono City Tech and Loudon Empire are eliminated. I guess as a Pocono City University alum, if I had to pick two schools to be eliminated already, it would be Tech and Loudon Empire.

The Drought
a.k.a. "What Happened in NSCAA 11?"

It's no secret that NSCAA 11 was a disaster for Drawkian schools. Only 3 of the 8 even made the Ultra 64 (good job, Elmanden, Corps U, and Cavsar), and they were all dumped out in the first round. No school won their conference season, none made a conference tournament run. Most of them finished below .500, and it was altogether a poor showing across the board.

This doesn't make any sense. The Drawkland schools had become household names in college basketball, synonymous with "title contenders." How could such great powers inexplicably falter, especially after one of them had won the previous edition? You would expect these schools, with similar staff and recruiting bases, to continue to contend on the international level. In an NSCAA season that was mostly dominated by Banijans and Yeezies, there was little parity. One could've expected Drawkland to make a run, and yet, they didn't.

There is an explanation which any Drawkian knows well, and is trying to remove from their memory as quickly as possible. A dark period in Drawkian college basketball. The Skill Drought. Three years on, it's simply known as The Drought.

Previously, the level of competitiveness in DOCA college basketball, even in Drawkland's pro league, was pretty standard. There were a few superpowered teams, and a ton of "okay" teams. Ultimately, there wasn't enough talent to go around. When you have 256 schools in D1 athletics, and only a couple dozen standout stars to go around, many teams will simply be left with the leftover scraps. This all changed about 20 years ago. We don't know how, or why, but suddenly the natural talent of young players was skyrocketing. High schools across the nation were suddenly cradles of a huge basketball revolution.

This sudden boom in talent coincided with Drawkland's discovery and entry to the world of multiversal sports. Despite still being a relatively new and untested nation, Drawkland made an immediate impact in NSCAA 7. All the schools made the Ultra 64, and two made the Final Four. We all know how that edition ended for poor Sadeg State, but despite the tragic loss to end the season, the statement made by all the Drawkians could not be denied. Drawkland was a force to be reckoned with in basketball (mostly).

NSCAA 7 happened when the first batch of this huge group of crazy-good players were entering the college scene and starting to make their presence known. By NSCAA 8, despite most of the first batch having graduated, the second batch had come in. By now, coaches and athletic directors had started to count on this talent, and really gameplan around it. The talents of these players was been fully utilized, and it showed. Drawkland dominated NSCAA 8, claiming 3/4 of the Final Four. Both teams in the NSCAA 8 championship were from the same nation, a feat that has never otherwise been attained (and maybe never will). When Elmanden topped Old Mountain for the title, it only cemented what people already suspected following NSCAA 7.

NSCAA 9 may not have ended in a win for Drawkland, nor a really strong showing (only one school made the Elite 8), but every Drawkian school still made the final field of 64. Most of the talent from the 7-8 golden age had graduated and gone on to the DBO, where they were making an immediate impact. The pro league, which had been extremely top heavy for over a decade, was suddenly flooded with talent. Every team was competitive. The superstars were forced off their laurels and had to fight to stay on top of the pile. Ever wondered why the Net Corps rocketed from a perennial Round of 16 losers to IBC champions in a single cycle? It all traces back to this initial golden generation.

By NSCAA 10, the last offerings of this golden age were coming to fruition. The rebound from NSCAA 9 was extremely palpable. Once again, all 8 schools made the final field, and once again, the bracket was mostly dominated by the Drawkians. "Only" two of the Final Four hailed from Drawkland, but that didn't matter in the end. Sadeg State vanquished their demons and took their place atop the NSCAA, completing their arc that had begun a dozen years prior. We didn't know it yet, but that was the end of perhaps the greatest era of college basketball in Drawkland.

At the conclusion of the NSCAA 10, the final pieces of the catalyst generation moved on to the pros. We didn't know it at the time, and didn't realize it until too late. Many of the prospects coming out of high school at this time were weaker than their counterparts of the last decade. That's not to say there weren't still superstars that lit up highlight rules and made the coach of every top program drool, but it was like it was in the past. Not enough to go around, not enough to make teams into superteams.

By the time NSCAA 11 came around, the garbage coming in had resulted in garbage coming out. Coaches, who had started to lean a little too hard on elite talent, were left scrambling to rework their strategies. Games were no longer astounding skillfests that everybody wanted to watch. They were boring, hard to watch, even. All the household names and stars that had made a name for themselves in the past were now doing battle at the top level for millions of dollars. The DBO skyrocketed in popularity, and DOCA basketball ratings fell so low it was nearly the lowest since games were televised. When NSCAA 11 came around, the hype simply wasn't there.

Media coverage (as foreign fans may have noticed) was nearly nonexistent for NSCAA 11. At this point, it was simply not on anybody's radar. A record low amount of neutrals attended the conference tournaments held in Drawkland, and even the schools with the most dedicated basketball fanbases were having trouble filling their venues. Simply put, Drawkian sports fans would literally watch anything OTHER than college basketball. The product was awful, and there were a million hot takes about how Drawkland's basketball system was doomed to fail within the decade.

Well now, at least some of those thoughts have been put to rest. A sort of "silver generation" is starting to rise in Drawkland, reminiscent of the powers of the late single digit NSCAAs. At the moment, the raw skill and amount of players may not be at that level, but the development is there. Now coaches have relearned how to scheme a team without having to simply lean on elite talent to get it all done. Lessons learned from the last two decades of play have resulted in better development and training techniques. In all likelihood, we may never see an age as dark as those years that surrounded NSCAA 11, but whether we'll return to the heights seen before those years remains to be seen.

The impact of the mediocre batch of players on the DBO has yet to be felt. Thankfully, the golden generation is still alive and kicking in the pros, and hopefully will remain on top long enough for this new generation to enter and start making a difference themselves. A couple teams who had several stars retire in the last couple years have been left high and dry in the draft and have had to try to wrestle away talent from other teams in trades, or have fallen down to a level that would mean mediocrity 20 years ago, but nowadays means being awful. Maybe the generation of players currently playing in the NSCAA (and many whose schools only play domestically) will save both the DBO and the Net Corps in the years to come.

It remains to be seen how it will all play out. Like it or not, we sit in the middle of a turning point in Drawkian basketball. We won't know for perhaps a decade whether this is merely a foothill for greater heights, or just a final blip on the radar before Drawkian basketball returns to a dark age. As for the players currently in play in this NSCAA, they're certainly in contention for a title. But now, the competitiveness in the NSCAA is higher now than it's been for decades, maybe ever. Upsets rule in college basketball, and the chaos of a single-elimination bracket rules more than even the strongest teams. All we can do now is sit, and wait.

8-0 in the First Round

The Conference tournaments have kicked off and it couldn't have gone any better for Kohnhead schools in the first round and while all were favored Conference tournaments can be a little dicey. However no upsets occured against us and we walked away with every team as expected advancing to the next round.

(5) Castle College (KHD) 74-72 (12) Laneca University (GRC) - Pink 15 Conference
Castle College came in as the lowest seed out of all of the teams from Kohnhead at a five and almost blew it in the first round against Laneca University out of Grey County, a school that competes in the NSCF. Nelson Britton had a massive game with the freshman going off for 22 points and 7 assists and with 5.2 seconds left on the clock he hit a three over the head of the defender to send Castle College to the next round and our bench went crazy. Britton is a future start for Castle College, let's see what he can become. Next up they take on Banijan school North Ankole who easily dealt with 13 seed Delvatija Gornja University in the first round, Castle College are underdogs let's see what they can do.
Next Round: (4) North Ankole (BNJ) 96-70 (13) Delvatija Gornja Universitiy (RAS)

(4) Kohnhead City University (KHD) 92–55 (13) Pallet Town University (DUR) - Eternal Conference
While the Mighty Eagles might be struggling in the NSCF as of late they absolutely creamed Pallet Town University going up by 27 at halftime thanks to 16 from Weber who is playing through a hip injury. The bench played large portions of the second half and this one was never in doubt with KCU playing some truly stifling defense while the offense did what they did best and scored off of the many turnovers created. They will be taking on 5th seeded Bunyoro A&M University who creamed us just two games ago winning by 18 but maybe KCU can turn it around this time and play defense we know they are capable of.
Next Round: (5) Bunyoro A&M University (BNJ) vs (4) Kohnhead City University (KHD)

(3) University of Kohnface City (KHD) 95-65 (14) Universidade de Lerna (LIS) - Sky Blue Conference
Kohnface City much like their rivals in Kohnhead City easily won their first round matchup crushing Lisander school Universidade de Lerna by 30 points to advance to the next round. It was a team effort for the Five Musketeers however it was the frontcourt of Priest and Daniels who played well underneath and were probably the best players for Kohnface City as they've been all season. Next up is a matchup with 6th seeded Instituto de Azucena from Hispanis who took care of business against the University of Leitner out of Xanneria.
Next Round: (3) University of Kohnface City (KHD) vs (6) Instituto de Azucena (HSP)

(4) University of Barnley Tech (KHD) 81-65 (13) College of the Air Force (VNG) - Royal Conference
Barnley Tech are the team from Kohnhead who need a run in the Conference Tournament the most as they are the one team from Kohnhead I'd consider to be on the bubble. The Purple Demons haven't been all that special this season but they advanced with a 16 point victory over the College of the Air Force in the first round although they were definitely expected to do so. Their next matchup will be the fifth seed from Cassadaigua in the University of Victoriaville in what will be a game with huge implications for Barnley Tech.
Next Round: (4) University of Barnley Tech (KHD) vs (5) University of Victoriaville (CDG)

(3) Swisston City University (KHD) 72–59 (14) University of Baris (BOH) - Sealion Conference
It wasn't the prettiest of victories for Swisston City who spent a fair amount of time leading the Sealion Conference especially during the midseason. The University of Baris put up a good fight and stuck with us until a couple of minutes into the second half but the school out of BohemiaIV the combo of Hodges and Bull who shot really well and drove for days on the defense. Next up they will take on 6th seeded Endborough College out of Baker Park however this conference is special because 1st seeded Karnavati College lost by nine points to Southern Grey County College really leaving it wide open. First we have to deal with the Commonwealth school then we can talk about other results.
Next Round: (3) Swisston City University (KHD) vs (6) Endborough College (CBP)

(2) Wangor State College (KHD) 82–70 (15) High Scool of Sataran City (DOT) - Orange 16 Conference
The Dingos led pretty much the entire time in this one and had the lead up to as much as 27 midway through the second before a late charge from Sataran City brought the starters back out there who looked like they didn't want to come back out. We allowed Sataran City to make it interesting but ultimately Wangor State had enough talent to win the game by double digits and to move on to the next round, it wasn't the prettiest at the end but we made it work. In the next round we will take on another school from Cassadaigua as Starksville Medical Institute the 7th seed won their matchup in the first round. We should win but Cassadaigua is a good nation (in like every sport they compete in) but especially the NSCAA so we must be careful.
Next Round: (2) Wangor State College (KHD) vs (7) Starksville Medical Institute (CDG)

(2) Dawson Community College (KHD) 115–82 (15) South Western Grey County Provincial University (GRC) - Salamantica Conference
Dawson Community College as the two seed in their conference had a pretty seamless win against South Western Grey County Provincial University out of Grey County marking the second school from this nation a Kohnheadian school faced. As per usual Mikayla Watt was the best player on the offense and we had a great offensive output putting up 115 points in dominant fashion although the defense looked a little leakier than I would like. Dawson was struggling a bit near the end of the season so the 7th ranked Kanyean Air Force Academy from Saint Kanye could pose some problems in the next round.
Next Round: #2 Dawson Community College (KHD) vs. #7 Kanyean Air Force Academy (STK)

(3) Northern-Parga State (KHD) 84–75 (6) Ranoria State University (RAN) - Planetary Conference
Ranoria State University led Northern-Parga State at halftime by a score of 38-25 but a second half explosion offensively led by Goldman and Buck's 15 off of the bench allowed us to come back and cling on at the end against Ranoria State with the school being ballooned for us at least due to fouls at the end. The freshman are into the next round of the Planetary Conference but need to start out smoother against better competition with Kizza I College from Banija next up for us. Northern-Parga State are the higher seed but you can never count out a team from Banija and the Ice Pheonixes will need to be ready.
Next Round: (3) Northern-Parga State (KHD) vs (6) Kizza I College (BNJ)

Overall it was a very successful round for the Kohnheadian schools as we went 8-0 although we had some close calls with Castle College and Northern-Parga State coming to mind. I highly doubt the quarterfinals will go this well for us even if we are favored in seven games according to the seeding because the farther we get in these tournaments the stiffer the competition will get.

All the Hispino schools survived the first round of their respective conference tournaments. No one was able to be tripped by lower seeds, and the school which is a lower seed, Basko Panterak, upended the 8th seed Bakina Stijena to have a date with the 1st seed, Turbani Tech.

Only the fans of the Green Geniuses were made to panic in the closing moments of the game, as they only managed to win by 5 points over Port Squidward Community College when Beltran Abelardo made a clutch three to gap themselves and the Squidroidian school by 5 in the last 30 seconds of the game. Other teams managed to have blowout games against their respective opponents, but fans of the Mandrid based college would fear that their steam would finally run out when they face Universidad del Pacifico of TJUN-ia.

Basko and ImHU face the test of having to face the 1st seeds of their respective conferences in order to have any chance of making it to the Ultra 64 by winning their conference tournament. Lose, and they are all out of it. Same thing can be said to PSH and IA as they battle 2nd/3rd seeds and needing a conference tournament win to have any chances within the bubble to make it in the tourney.

And Then, There Were Five

Postby TJUN-ia » Wed Mar 24, 2021 11:12 am

After losing only 1 TJUN-ian school in the first round of the Conference Championship Tournaments, the remaining 7 schools were left to duke it out in the Quarterfinals against some tough opposition. Let's see how they all got on then, eh?

Mariners Certainly Carried On In 15 Point Win
Record: Beat Wyndon College by 15
Verdict: Wyndon College just had nothing to fight for in this one as CPortside just about comfortably made the Final 4 in the Pink 15. Dami Wong certainly helped in how comfortable this game was and against the 2nd seeded Drawk Corp, many will be hoping that this momentum can push CP to the CCG.

Wallabies Take Down 7th Seeds In Fun Game
Record: Beat College of Ware by 8
Verdict: The 7th-seeded College of Ware certainly put up and epic fight in this high-scoring affair but in the end, UWWB just about had enough to pull away and make the Final 4 in the Five Star. Pohiva Nukuʻalofa was the one that put them over the edge and Wisdom on the Bay will need to keep up the good times in the Semis when they take on 3rd seeds Mar Sara Tech.

Coin Toss Provides Upset By Los Leones
Record: Beat Ducentu State by 7
Verdict: Ducentu State were the Regular Season Champions in the Eternal but they will not claim the Conference Title at all as UC came from nowhere to pull off the 7-point upset. Jonathan Salvador was one of the key players in this huge upset and with 5th seeded Bunyoro A&M up next in the Final 4, who knows if this team can somehow do it again...

Los Surfistas Crash Final 4 Party In Upset
Record: Beat Universidad de Hispinas by 15
Verdict: 3rd seeded Hispinas were certainly the favourites in this one but UP didn't care, smoking them out in an upset blowout that wasn't close for a while. Rafaelle was certainly key in this huge result for this program and against 2nd seeds Moravica, another performance like that will be required.

Green Flash Finally Runs Out Of Steam
Record: Lost to SCU by 14
Verdict: 2nd seeds South Caddonia proved exactly why they were that high up as they took down UCPT with relative ease. José Turrel was a bright spot in this game and with this unit starting so strongly, questions need to be asked about where it all went wrong. See you next time, Green Flash!

Grizzlies Squash Again Heading Into Final 4 Chalk
Record: Beat the Unsigned Transfers All-Star Team by 36
Verdict: It was a miracle that the 11th seeded Unsigned Transfers All-Star Team even made it this far, but CSU made sure that run ended with a dominant performance today. Lina Chernomyrdina was certainly the queen of the court today and against 2nd seeded Tundra Falls, similar help will certainly be required.

Dragons Fight, But Finally Fall
Record: Lost to RNA by 5
Verdict: The magically run of HPU finally ended today after a tight matchup with the 4th seeded Rinaldi Naval Academy. Chenrop Rueangthanarot certainly tried and many will be sad but considering how this campaign started, Hongxai can certainly be happy with how their team fought all season. See you next time, Dragons!

Focus is on the task at hand,
By Tara Cohen, Junior, PF, University of Concord Heights

I was in the headlines recently a little more than I expected to be. With the University of Concord Heights, it is a great team effort that allows us to be successful, and because of that the credits and praise of our success is well rounded, just the way it should be. As a unit, and when I say that, I mean everyone, not just our starting five, we are at our best because all of us complement the others so well. I’ll take the praise when I get it, and my ambitions are to go professional and continue the career trajectory that I am on. That will come next year, though, as I still have one more great year here at UCH.

Unfortunately, a freshman at Keisler College of Newmanistan opted to make a personal attack towards me.
I can understand trash talk, that comes as a part of the game, but usually you wait until you are on the court to do that, or do so after the game after you pulled out a big win. I have never met this guy, and didn’t really know anything about him other than having played him twice during conference play. Even then, we weren’t typically assigned to cover one another or anything, so it’s not as if there was some incident that I could reflect on that would have provoked that. Maybe then, if our seeds for the game were reversed, and they were the #2 seed and us the #10 seed, a little trash talk would be in order, but Keisler College only finished tenth in the conference. They’ve been better before, I realize, but not this time out and he was never part of those teams since he is only a freshman. So, it was not just trash talk, it was a flat out attack, unprovoked, and stupid.

The stupidity of the comment was realized quickly by his coach, who subsequently suspended him, and I would like to thank his coach, Damian Ellis, for the quick response on that. As a team, we talked about it, but I was not going to let it bother me. I think we were more dumbfounded at the overall oddness of the comment to begin with. We shut down Keisler well, winning 89-61, as surely they would have benefitted from having their regular starting shooting guard in the lineup. I did get some encouragement from players on our city rival, the Concord Heights Beauty School. They have a great athletic program as well, and it is fun to have a rivalry with them at home, though in a tournament like this, we can support one another. It’s too bad that they are knocked out.

We are one of seven Cassadagan schools still alive now as the conference tournaments reach the semifinal stages and now only the heavyweights remain. Most conference tournaments have not had any major surprise runs, and where it is happening is probably enough of a story to be the only place it happens. In the Eternal Conference, we are the top remaining seed, so we know people are expecting us to win now, and we will do all we can. We know that we will make it into the Ultra 64 now, but seeding is very important, and winning now helps that a lot. Regardless, we want to cut down the nets here, first.

Vanorian schools continued to showcase their sharpshooting and defensive tenacity in the quarterfinals of the conference tournaments, with all eight schools that the Empire fielded in the NSCAA having found their way into the semifinal round of their respective tournaments. While we by no means think that all eight schools are going to get into championship game of all the tournaments that they are in nor win them, it is by far one of the most impressive showings of the Vanorian schools in the NSCAA. This is arguably the greatest ever performance as a collective of schools from the Empire in all their time in entering teams into this competition and the growth of basketball in the Empire has definitely been showcased this year with this sort of performance from even the lowliest of schools and to those that are considered the best in the entire nation. These victories not only put all the schools into the semifinal and two games from a conference tournament with the automatic berth into the Ultra 64, it also should mean that the two teams who were possibly on the bubble heading into the tournament phase of conference play should most likely be in the Ultra 64 with at least an at large bid. Let us briefly take a look at how each school fared the previous day.

Senior guard Maj Nyman had a career day with twenty-one points and four steals as the University of Hondo capitalized on facing off against a weaker seed in the quarterfinal, besting the Baker Park school of University of Ezra ninety to seventy-one. Four starters were in double figures and the team was dominant on the boards, with Ben Eliasson leading the way with fourteen rebounds, an area where Vanorian players usually struggle on. It was a complete performance from Hondo and they will quietly confident heading into their semifinal game against Northern-Parga State from Kohnhead. Northern-Parga is not a school to be underestimated as they played Hondo tough in both of the games during the regular season and well worthy of their three seed in the conference tournament. That extra confidence from such a complete performance over Ezra however likely could be the difference in what should be a very tense and tight affair, with the winner of this game having to believe the conference championship will be theirs after first seed University of Suryapur was upset by two points by Fair Haven State.

South Caddonia University thought that they had the toughest game of the lot as they faced a difficult side from TJUN-ia but were able to come away with a fourteen point win in the end to advance to the semifinals. José Turrel kept University of the Caribbean at Port Town in it during the first half, with South Caddonia only leading forty-two to forty at the break, yet in the second half the defense from the Caddo school clamped down in key stretches and the sharp shooting of the three shooting guard and were able to pull away for an eighty-eight to seventy-four victory. The unique lineup definitely has presented opposing teams with difficulties on the offensive end, with quick ball movement finding the better look or open man. With the top four teams those that left standing in the semifinals, the Caddo school will need to keep it up and channel the form they had in the first half of the season, as they take on Colegio de Nuno Espirito Santo in the semifinals.

Sabinal State turned in a very lopsided victory in the Calania conference tournament, besting Universitade Eldora by a score of ninety-one to sixty-six, in a game that was never really in doubt. Senior point guard Marcial Olivo had sixteen assists, many of which went to Cesáreo Cortez, with the senior forward having a fourteen point and eight rebound performance to lead the front court and keep the second chance points for their foes limited. The difficultly for the next game is going to get ratcheted up several degree though, with their foes being Sankt Adelheid University from Banija, a school that toppled them during the regular a season and was one of the reasons they fell away from the top spot and regular season title contention. Banija basketball prowess is well known, given their status as the dominant force in the IBC right now and multiple IBC championships, while Vanorian basketball really only flourishes in the domestic scene. A chance for a bit of revenge and to show that Vanorians are not that far behind their Southwestern rivals definitely should motivate the squad to have championship like form and tenacity for this matchup.

In one of the closest affairs, the Corsairs of the Rinaldi Naval Academy had a slug it out battle with Hongxai People's University from TJUN-ia but key free throws in the last minute of the game had them emerge victorious seventy-nine to seventy-three. The Dragons kept it close for the entire game, limiting the output of star center Martin Weiß, keeping the center in foul trouble in the first half, yet the rest of the front court was able to pick up the slack. When you have three starting senior, you know you can rely on them to maintain their focus even when things are down and that they did. Nicole Beich hit all eight free throws she took in the final minutes when the Dragons were trying to mount their comeback to see out the victory in this hotly contested affair. In the only tournament where the weakest seed is still alive, the Corsairs now have an unexpected game against sixteen seed Southern Grey County College to advance to the final. Overconfidence with be the biggest worry for the Corsairs, as they saw two other teams already fall victim, but one would believe naval discipline should be enough to keep them focused and advance to the title game.

Turbani Tech gave a good account of themselves in a somewhat routine victory against Basko Unibertsitatea. A seventeen point victory, eighty to sixty-three, is perhaps a bit flattering to Turbani but they were able to come alive in the second half after having to grit through a rather poor shooting effort in the first half. Lara Hólmsteinsdóttir lead all scorers with seventeen points, fourteen of those coming in the second half when the offense finally was able to start sinking their shots with regularity. While Turbani does not need to win their conference tournament, having already got the regular season crown, doing so would be a big boost to their positioning and impressing the selection committee. To get to the championship game they will need to be able to overcome the University of Victoriaville. While only a fifth seed, the reputation for the Dagans in the NSCAA is well known and Turbani has to be on their guard so as not to be lulled into a false sense of security. If they play like they did in the second half of this game, it should be a win, but play like the first half where they had trouble scoring on consecutive possession would open the game wide up, something the northern school will want to avoid.

Raynor University was the only underdog in the quarterfinals and they had an urgent need to pull the upset against Chittorgarh University, as their trip into the Ultra 64 was likely resting on getting a victory or at least putting in a good showing if they ended up being defeated. It was a back and forth affair from the opening tip off, with the lead changing hands sixteen times during the game, ten of them in the second half as both schools were putting it all out on the line to grab the win. Senior point guard Julius Sjögren was pulling all the strings and making all the right passes as Almir Bergström was having a great offensive night and ended with twenty-one points from the guard position. With both teams tied at eighty-one with ten point nine-three second remaining, the Rockets inbounded the ball and advanced quickly upcourt. Julius crossed up his defender and drove to the lane before dishing it off to Mika Samuelsson and the power forward quickly put up the short jump shot that swished through the net and gave the Rockets the upset victory. It does not get any easier for the Rockets, as they take on regular season champions and traditional powerhouse Brattleboro Technical Institute in the semifinals. One wonders if they will have enough in the tank after the marathon against Chittorgrarh and the emotional high of getting the win and likely berth into the Ultra 64.

It comes as to no surprise now that Everlin had a very dominating performance in their second round game, demonstrating the same form that they had during the regular season that had them win the conference with a confident thirty point victory, ninety-five to sixty-five. The game was a personification of Everlin's entire season with the team playing a suffocating defensive press that fell into a zone and the type of shooting that is hard to find even in the EBA. They seem to be a team of destiny, with their exploits this season coming out of nowhere to most Vanorian audiences, and yet they have been one of the best teams not just form the Empire but in all of the NSCAA itself. That rich vein of form will be put to the test in the semifinals, with a very hot Castle College from Kohnhead being who awaits them, after an upset of the Banija school of North Ankole by eleven points. A team getting hot at the right time against a team that has overperformed the entire season, it should make for some interesting watching indeed.

In the battle of the NSCF schools, Mar Sara Tech looked to have a slight edge over Universite St. Croix from Quebec, having come into the tournament on a ten game winning streak to sneak their way into the third seed for the competition. USC is a good school and probably would have stood a better chance had it not been the red hot Raiders who were their foes in the game. Isra Holmgren lead the way with nineteen points and three steals as the Raiders won eighty-seven to sixty-nine and likely clinched their spot in the Ultra 64 as well with the victory. That does not matter to the Raiders right now as they have the belief that they can earn the automatic qualifier by winning the tournament, having come into the tournament on the winning streak and one that does not look like it is being stopped any time soon. Yet University of Wisdom-Wollongmatta Bay will try to be that force that derails the hype train of the Raiders as the two seed has looked quite solid thus far, in yet another conference tournament where the top four seeds are the last ones standing. Tech knows that it will be tough to win but they have that belief that they have figured it all out and with their performances over the last five weeks, it'd be hard to bet against them.

Three Hispino schools remain in contention for Conference Tournament wins
Basko schools end their hope of making Ultra 64 while Azucena's second round loss makes their case in the bubble even harder

MANDRID - After the second round games in the NSCAA's 12th season, only three Hispino schools remained in their respective conference tournaments, with big Ultra 64 implications to those who were eliminated and to those who are still in the tournament.

Unfortunately, both Basko Unibertsitatea and Ipar-mendebaldeko Hispanako Unibertsitatea's hopes of making the Ultra 64 Tournament at the end of the conference tournaments officially ended when they lost their respective games in their brutal meetings with two top seeds. Panterak were no match for Royal top seed Turbani Tech's offensive firepower, losing 63-80 in their game where it was announced almost immediately that Kepa Aguirrebeña will be fired from his head coaching position. The Basko school was expected to perform well compared to four other Hispino schools, but ended up with the worst seed of the eight, and had a pathetic showing against Turbani. Their Iparbasko counterparts had a similar fate, losing by 16, 74-90, to the mighty Sadeg State University of Drawkland and first seeds of Five Star, despite the efforts from Kimetz Irigoyen who scored a double-double in his last game for the school. Irigoyen will sign for hometown team Mendihegalean Saskibaloia for the upcoming LHB season.

Another team ending their conference campaign is the Avispas of Instituto de Azucena in a heartbreaking fashion against Kohnhead City, where the Wasps was leading by one with three seconds remaining in the game, but Bella Hirst would score a buzzer beater to break the fans of Azucena who attended the game in person at Newmanistan's Tundra Falls Proving Grounds where the Sky Blue conference tournament is being held. As a result, Azucena who is in the bubble as 18-12 team in the regular season has their fate lie on the selection committee, but with other teams progressing to the semifinals, their hopes of making the final tournament would be all but over now.

The same fate befell the Mandaragat of Pamantasan ng Silangang Hispinas, as despite a spirited game against Cassadagan school and former NSCAA champion Grande Mountain University, they lost 61-69, ending their conference campaign in the same boat as the Lirio-based school. Fons Quezada's last game for the school was less than memorable as he was ejected from the game due to unsportsmanlike conduct after heavily protesting a crucial foul late in the second half which allowed GMU to break away in the closing minutes of the game. Their fate in the Ultra 64 will lie now to the selection committee as well.

For those schools which look like a lock for an at-large bid, three of them made the semifinals, as the Genios Verdes of Universidad de Hispinas finally ran out of steam in the Woodland Conference, as 6th seeded Universidad del Pacifico ran riot with Rafaelle leading the charge for the Surfistas. Lucia Camargo had a career game for the Mandrid-based school but the other starters were off-color that game. They will now prepare for probably a mid to low seed in the tournament and they hope that they would not meet a Drawkian school in their first round game. Their hated rivals though, the Cardenales Rojos progressed to the semi-finals after a stellar game from national team mainstay Marcela Picazo, defeating Atlantic Christian of Barnetsville in the Eternal Conference second round. The Instituto de Tecnologia de Mandrid will face another former NSCAA champion in University of Concord Heights of Cassadaigua.

Colegio de Nuno Espirito Santo's Fantasmas Morados are in the semifinals of the Flying Drawk Conference after defeating another school from Concord Heights, the Beauticians from the Beauty School thanks to Xalvador Aguila's breakout game against a formidable opponent, and they will need his production again as Valanora's South Caddonia University awaits them for a spot in the final. Finally, the fairy tale school of Hispinas, Kabog of Unibersidad sa Cebuenas managed to beat Quebec and Shingoryeo's University of Prince Raoul Islands by eleven, with Ignocio Valera scoring and dishing effortlessly against their opponents. They might be even favorites against Fair Haven State who managed to upset the #1 seed University of Suryapur in the Planetary Conference.

Let's hope one of the three Hispino schools can take a crown and be the first Hispino school to win a spot in the Ultra 64 tournament.

The Lightning Round: We Suck At Basketball!!!

Postby Drawkland » Thu Mar 25, 2021 1:35 pm

The LIGHTNING Round
Corinth City Student News In Brief

This week's segment: We Suck At Basketball!!!

Hello everybody and welcome back to The Lightning Round. Today's news in brief will be a lightning-fast review of Corinth City's NSCAA 12 run in the Sealion Conference.

We couldn't even win 20 games.

We ended up 7th in the conference.

Our only chances of gaining an at-large berth depended on a deep run in the conference tournament.

We lost in the second round.

With DISC saying they're likely to pull the most underperforming squad from NSCAA 12 and replace them with a new school in NSCAA 13, this potentially places us on the chopping block. Unless we get insanely lucky with enough at-large votes to qualify to the Ultra 64, we're probably done for.

It's been a fun run, and I'll always remember our great early runs to the Final Four, though we never made it to the championship.

Maybe someday we'll return, maybe even to NSCAA 13, but I have a feeling this is the last you'll see of the Chromatik Crushin' Conference Champion Corinth City Chargers.

It's been great. Hopefully this is just a "see you later", and not a "goodbye."

With that, I'd like to thank you for tuning into The Lightning Round. Next episode, we'll be taking a look at the mental effects of unimaginable pain and suffering, with special guest corpsguy725.

And with that, the stages are set for the conference championship games. This Saturday, 13 more teams will be granted entry to the Ultra 64, leaving those precious few 38 spots remaining to be assigned via At-Large listings.

Right now there is no set deadline for hosts to get their At-Large listings, but I'm hoping this process will take less than a week to determine the field of sixty-four, seedings, and bracket. As in previous seasons, the bracket will be posted via Challonge, and thus a bracket challenge will be possible for anybody interested. Once the field is determined, there will be at least 48 hours before the first cutoff, if not more.

More information forthcoming. Good luck to those playing in the conference championships!

The DCIT

Postby Drawkland » Fri Mar 26, 2021 12:18 pm

Introducing ...
Image
The Drawkian Collegiate Invitational Tournament
a.k.a. The Battle for 65th Place

This NSCAA season has marked an unprecedented increase in the level of skill from athletes across the multiverse. In previous seasons, you could count the number of contending nations on one hand, and their schools dominate the bracket. To fill out the standard field of 64, it sometimes feels like scraping from the bottom of the barrel for those lower schools. This edition though, we are approaching the opposite problem - for perhaps the first time in NSCAA history, the Ultra 64 bracket might be too small.

Because of this, there's a reasonable chance that several good schools from storied nations will be left out, despite the fact that in other seasons they'd be good enough to be a midtier seed in the Ultra 64. Those schools deserve to have a postseason, in our opinion. This is why we are unveiling the Drawkian Collegiate Invitational Tournament, otherwise known as the DCIT.

This event is being run by DISC, the Drawkian International Sporting Council. It is technically unaffiliated with the NSCAA, and its "title" will be considered inferior to the NSCAA Ultra 64 title. Being an invitational tournament, entry is not requested nor is it voted on. DISC will unilaterally decide which schools will play in the DCIT, though if a school declines to participate they will be replaced. Which schools are invited will be decided by an inexact process, though the following requirements will be in place:

1. Schools that qualify for the Ultra 64 are ineligible.
2. Schools listed on At-Large votes who fall short of the Ultra 64 will be prioritized in selection.
3. Schools with a losing record are ineligible, EXCEPT
4. Schools which made their conference semifinal round, despite a losing record, are eligible.
5. Schools with better media coverage are more likely to be selected.

The number of schools invited will vary based on which schools qualify for the Ultra 64. In any case, the number of schools will likely be a round number that fits into a standard bracket structure: 8, 16, or 32 are all on the table. This may change as we see who makes it into the Big Dance. The participants list and bracket will be posted concurrently or directly after the bracket for the Ultra 64 is finalized.

Like the Ultra 64, the bracket will be single-elimination, culminating in a championship. Cutoffs will be every 48 hours, and likely set to alternate days with the actual NSCAA tournament. Results will be posted on the NSCAA 12 Results thread, and any RPs written in the NSCAA 12 RP thread will be counted for the DCIT, if applicable.

With Millennium Arena in Drawkland being the host of the NSCAA Final Four, as well as other venues in Drawk City and Metropolon likely hosting a region of the Ultra 64 bracket, these venues will not be available for use for the DCIT. To keep the games nearby to the NSCAA action, while not overlapping with venues, the DCIT will be hosted in Sadeg, Drawkland. The venues will be Cliffside Court (49,000; home of the Sadeg Spartans DBO team) and Skyhawk Valley Arena (42,000; home of the Sadeg State University basketball team).

Given that this tournament has been created to suit the large level of activity this current season has experienced, this may or may not end up being a permanent fixture in the NSCAA calendar. It's possible this is the only time the DCIT is held, or it may be the beginning of an annual tradition. Only time will tell.

We wish good luck to all schools in the postseason, whether they're playing in the DCIT or playing for the real title in the NSCAA Ultra 64. Thank you for making this a successful year already!

Conference Tournament finales tonight,
By Chloe Dufrense, Concord Heights Times

This evening, all of the conference tournaments will be decided as teams vie for an automatic berth into the NSCAA tournament. Pretty much everyone that makes it this far gets into the Ultra 64 anyway, as I don’t think you would find any recent examples of a school that did not. What they are really playing for is seeding, and that can be a big deal especially when it is anticipated that the Ultra 64 this year will be one of the most competitive ones that we have ever seen. In the long run, then, these teams are playing for pride. Sometimes, there is nothing more that is needed when a group of athletes get together. You want to call yourself a champion, and that is all of the motivation that is needed.

Cassadaigua will have four schools playing for titles, starting with Brattleboro Technical Institute taking on Elmanden District College of Drawkland for the Sky Blue Conference title. This to me is the most important of the games, because I do believe that the Brats could get rewarded with a #1 seed if they pull out the victory. They were strong throughout conference play, and so was Elmanden District. However, their opponents own two victories against them during that portion, and the Brats are going to need to prove to the committee that they can beat a top level opponent. Should they do so, I think they are looking at a #2 rather than a #1, but we can be ambitious about potentially getting that top seed. If they lose, I think it hurts them quite a bit as the committee will see that “0-3” versus Elmanden District, and not make them believe in what the Brats accomplished against the rest of the conference. On matchday 18, Elmanded defeated the Brats 78-77 on a buzzer beating shot. The Brats remember, according to Rachel St. Clair, “It was an empty feeling when Strand’s shot made the net. He was my man, and I did all I could, which is difficult when you are giving up 20 inches to someone, but I was really happy with the way we played after that. They lost a couple games, too, and it allowed us to win the conference, but I don’t think any of us feel satisfied. We don’t only need to prove to the committee that we can beat Elmanden, we need to prove it to ourselves. We played a strong game up until that last second shot, so we know we can, we simply need to actually do it.” St. Clair says they are not thinking about potentially getting a #1 seed, “No, not at all. We want to beat Elmanden. We could be playing them to win a free bottle of water and we would be playing just as hard. We want to beat them, it’s our third chance, and we need to do so.”

The University of Concord Heights is also alive, and there has been a lot of excitement across campus as we get set for this big game against Bunyoro A & M University, which is based in Banija. My Rushmori History professor was nice enough to postpone an exam that was scheduled for Monday, to Wednesday, since she wanted us to enjoy the basketball game over the weekend without worrying about a pretty important exam. I know that she, too, is very interested in the game as we love watching our sports teams. Wouldn’t it be awesome if we could get into that NSCF as that second school for Cassadaigua? Anyway, we are favored against Bunyoro since we are the better seed and I can’t wait to watch the game as a biased senior at UCH.

What is also pretty exciting is how well our men are playing from Seth Johnson College. They earned the #3 seed in the Salamantica Conference, and are coming off a 15-point win over Kohnhead’s Dawson Community College in what I feel was their best effort of the campaign right now. They have made it to the Ultra 64 a few times, but they have never had a strong seed when doing so. Coach Grant DeBlasio told me that, “We played well during the conference tournament, but we have been able to set up shop here in Marijuana Island, and been able to tune out all of the distractions and focus on basketball. We have been living in a bubble, if you will, while here. It has worked out well. As you know in the Cassadagan tournament, we were an upset victim, and we know how much that sucked. Because of that, it has been very easy to get the guys to exclusively focus on basketball. I’m proud of what they have done so far, and if we continue to take care of the little things, we will have what it takes to beat Hendrick State. They have a very good program there, so we will be on guard and ready for what they bring, but with one more big game to go, I like where we are at this time.”

Our fourth school that is competing for a conference tournament title is Starksville Medical Institute. What a great job by this team, since they were on the bubble to begin with to make the Ultra 64. They went 18-12 during conference play, which is a record that is right smack on the bubble, I believe, before the tournaments began. To convince the committee that they belonged in the big tournament, they needed to have a great run, and they have accomplished that. This is should mean that they get into the tournament since I said in the opening that I cannot remember the last time that a team made it to a tournament finale and did not make the Ultra 64. They will be taking on Cavsar University, one of several Drawkish schools that have made it this far. They were the regular season winner, and like Brat Tech, they have visions of a a #1 seed for the Ultra 64. Starksville comes off an 82-68 win over Pratapgadh’s Bundi University, who was the #3 seed, to get to the final.

I am excited to watch all of these games. Good luck to all of our programs!

DROP IT DOWN!: Two Remain To Fight For Glory

Postby TJUN-ia » Sat Mar 27, 2021 9:46 am

Conference Semifinals Day has arrived for NSCAA 12 and 5 TJUN-ian schools remained in the battle for a shot at a Conference Title. The announcement of the DCIT, an invitational tournament for teams who don't make the Elite 64, may mean some of our schools may play postseason ball after all, but that didn't mean none of the remaining 5 couldn't give it their all today. Could any of them reach Championship Saturday?

Mariners. Carry. On. Ballin'.
Record: Beat DCU by 2
Verdict: The College of Portside is certainly on a roll as they reached their first-ever conference championship game by beating 2nd seeds Drawk Corps by 2 points in a great game. Hernando Jotara was certainly a focal point in this game and with only 5th seeds Castle College the only hurdle remaining, the TJUN-ia vs Kohnhead tennis rivalry is about to be played out for the Pink 15 title. This is certainly a very big game for TJUN-ian basketball...but it isn't the only one...

Wallabies Fought Hard, But Were Just Overcome
Record: Lost to Mar Sara Tech by 3
Verdict: UWWB may have already claimed a spot in the Elite 64 as an At Large bid, but they won't enter as a champion as Mar Sara Tech. the 3rd seeds in the 5 Star, beat the Wallabies by 3 points in a tight and twisty contest. Margaret Kngwarreye was certainly a bid player in this contest but in the end, Wisdom on the Bay has to wait and see where they will end up in postseason play. See you soon, Wallabies!

Los Leones Loses Toss, But Leaves With Pride
Record: Lost to Bunyoro A&M by 10.
Verdict: UC have been a very weird team to follow and the fact this team even made the Semis was a shock, but that all came crashing down as 5th seeds Bunyoro A&M beat Carlandas by 10 points. Jimena Sierra certainly tried to keep the score as tight as possible but considering everything, I think this team can be proud of what they achieved as an 8th seed. See you next time, Los Leones!

Los Surfistas Finally Wipeout
Record: Lost to Moravica by 15
Verdict: UP has certainly been an interesting team to follow in recent times but their time in the Woodland finally came to an end today, 2nd seeds Moravica cruising to the Championship Game with great skill and better play. Pedro Alaves was certainly brilliant in his final conference game and with hope on the horizon for some postseason play, who knows how this team will fare in the future. See you next time, Los Surfistas!

Grizzlies Rise To The Occasion Again
Record: Beat UTF by 11
Verdict: Central State has come from near obscurity to become a force to be reckoned with in the B79, reaching the title game with a double-digit upset over Tundra Falls. Matvei Dzhanayev was certainly a beast out there but with the force known as top-seeded Kumbhalgarh City College in the way of winning this conference, this team may need some luck if it is to claim this one for the CSTO...

CPortside Mariners: 22-8, 3rd in Pink 15

The Waterbuck's Watering Hole
A Bunyoro A&M Fan Community

Hello everyone! For those who haven't been here before, welcome to the Waterbuck's Watering Hole! We're a fan community around Bunyoro A&M's sports teams, and boy, is this a great one.

We're just going to have an open thread tonight. Our team's got a game tonight in the Eternal Conference Tournament Championship Game. The beauty of conference tournaments, are that they give teams one last chance to impress, one last chance to get in.

Bunyoro A&M was firmly a bubble team heading into the conference tournament. Sitting at just 18-12, they needed to do some damage once the games got to Valanora. A 5 seed in the conference tournament, they needed to win some games. And we did! We avoided a disastrous upset losss against Kellersville State in the first round.

Then, we had an absolutely must win game against Kohnhead City University. An opportunity to prove ourselves against elite competition. KCU, remember, won 21 games this year, even if they only finished a spot ahead of us. And we did so. A game we had to have. We came out and controlled the game from start to finish, and won by 16 in the end.

And then, in the semifinals, we beat the 8 seed. They were the team that beat a 27-3 Ducentu State squad, so a quality win. And now we find ourselves in the final. We play a 24-6 Concord Heights team. Can we beat them, and get an auto bid? Or, can we lose, and have we done enough to get in? Sound off below!

Give my man Coach Kapula a raise! He's turned this program around. Land grant University going against a true blue blood in Concord Heights. I got A&M by 5 tonight. It'd be a huge upset. Hopefully they don't screw us over on our seeding when we win tonight.

CoBClassOf14, 1:27 PM
We're one of two Banian teams to get this far in the conference tournament. I'm not sure we've done enough to get in, there are a lot of good teams sitting right where we are. We had a great time getting to this point, though.

WaterbucksFanBoy17, 1:33 PM
Kristian Lane is so awesome, but he's small! Courtney Larkin has 7 inches on him. How are we gonna guard their point guard? The only chance we have is if he starts throwing his body around. Size disadvantages at guard are terrible, but hopefully we can overcome them!

RockMySocks, 1:43 PM
Get the ball to my mans Wanyanga Obong'o in the paint! Play some old school basketball. He's a senior with size. Screw all the modern day three point shooting, just let him post up and throw his body around, he'll end up in the 20-25 point range for sure. Ultra 64 here we come!
