It's about that time for the premier indoor football (also known as Arena Football) tournament in NationStates!

Even though the RL Arena Football League is no more, that fast paced brand of American football still has its admirers and this sport still has its avid practitioners. Kriegiersien won the last Arena Bowl. Will they repeat as champions or will someone else hold the trophy aloft? Let's find out!

For this eighth edition of the NS Arena Bowl (not counting the invitational tournament that begat the Arena Bowl, the Sarzonian Indoor Gridball Invitational Tournament known as Arena Bowl 0), please indicate your intent to sign up here. If you would like to submit a host bid, please do so here as well. Also, if you are signing up a second nation (known as a "puppet"), in keeping with standard NS protocols, please indicate in your puppet sign up post that you're signing up as a puppet of your parent nation. In addition, please confirm your puppet status with a post from your parent nation.

We don't have a host bid yet. Typically, when there's at least one host bid, we allow some time for people to look it over, ask questions, and possibly consider another host bid.

Once a few RL days passes after a host bid, then we'll put it to a vote where anyone who's signed up can vote on the host. If the host bid wins, then the host decides when to get started with the tournament.

HUElavia's Bid for Arena Bowl VIII

Nation Information: HUElavia is a massive nation in the South Pacific that is filled with multiculturalism, high levels of civil rights and political freedoms, and a massive economy. HUElavia is mainly influenced by Portuguese, Spanish and Native cultures, but has a wide variety of influence of European, Asian, and African cultures. While there are some issues with crimes, the nation is dealing with it swiftly, along with bringing up safety once again. There are plenty of cities and arenas that are more than capable of hosting matches, as well as bringing in fans into the arenas. There is a wide variety of things to do, relating to nature, sports, culture, and education. HUElavia is a sports-crazy nation that is passionate for Sports Tournaments, and looks to build it's sporting repetoire through hosting a wide variety of sports in the NS Multiverse. For HUElavians, the most popular sports includes Football (Association), Futsal, and Ice Hockey.

Hosting History: Unity Cup (2016), Futsal World Cup I (2019), Independent Associations Championship 9 (2020).

Scorination History: Besides the aforementioned International Tournaments I have hosted on NSS, I have run 7 seasons of Association Football, along with 1 season each for American Football and Ice Hockey (I also do have a Basketball League that I am working on at the moment).

Scorination: xkoranate American Football SQIS Formula with IFAF Overtime rules. (As a note, should I, HUElavia, advance to the knockout round, I will request a third-party scorinator on the NSS Discord Server, under the International Sports Channel, and I will mention them in the results).

Tiebeakers: The Tiebreakers for the tournament will be as follows- Points, H2H Points, H2H Points difference, H2H Points For, Point Difference, Points For.

RP Grading: Grading will be done based on whichever story the user writes about- Whether it's on the matches themselves, or a story about the team's and fans' experiences in HUElavia, or an ongoing story with your OCs, or news about ongoing events and issues with your nations. Anything goes! I will also give an RP bonus to teams that post a roster.

Schedule and Cutoffs: I intend on doing the tournament within a span of 14 days, in order to keep it short, and help prevent burnout among the RPers who have been in recent tournaments. Depending on the amount of signups, there would be a 24-48 cutoff set for the games. The cutoff times will vary from 3:00 PM US EST (UTC-5) to 9:00 PM US EST (I work from home, thus the cutoff time will be dependent on any other errands or activities I have to do, and having enough rest after my job). If someone needs time to write an RP, I'd be more than glad to give the time needed.

Venues- Possibly 8-14 venues across 8-12 cities. (A map will be provided to show the locations and a small description of the cities the matches are being played at).

Seeding: Due to a lack of an official ranking system for Arena Football, the teams will be randomly seeded into the Pots. As Host Nation, HUElavia would be in Pot 1 and placed into Group A as A1.

Group Formats: The way the tournament will run will depend on the amount of teams signed up for the competition. The proposed formats will be as follows-
16 Teams- 4 groups of 4 teams, Top 2 advance directly to the Quarter-Finals.
20 Teams- 4 groups of 5 teams, Group winners advance directly to the Quarter-Finals, 2nd and 3rd Placed teams will be playing in a "Wild Card" round (A2 vs B3, C2 vs D3, etc.), winners will go to the Quarter-Finals (QF pairings will be done to make sure no team meets again until the Final).
24 Teams- 6 Groups of 4 teams, Top 2 of every group and Best 3rd Placed teams advace to the Round-of-16.
28 Teams- 4 Groups of 7 teams, Top 4 advance to the Round-of-16.
32 Teams- 8 Groups of 4 teams, Top 2 advance to the Round-of-16.
