As the CHL begins its season, a fourth league is on the horizon.

The Continental Basketball Association will begin play in the winter of 1946 with 11 teams:

- Mon Valley
- Lakeview Lakers

- New Amsterdam Nets
- Atlantic City
- Bayview
- Tidewater
- Summersville
- New Alexandria
- Grantsville

The league will have a 40-game regular season, with 6 making the playoffs.
