This is the domestic newswire for all things Kongens Liga, which serves as the premier league for Gardelryan professional football.
(please note that this is my first attempt at making a domestic league, and this is my first foray into NS Sports, so all constructive criticism is welcome!)
The Kongens Liga (King's League in English) started in 1889, alongside with the formation of the Royal Gardelryan Football Commission. The league was created during a time of social unrest in the kingdom, due to a costly war that just finished, and an attempted coup that happened just three years prior. King Halfdan IV, the monarch at the time, wanted the league to bring forth a new sense national unity and patriotism, with citizens of all classes coming together to celebrate the sport. The inaugural season had just 8 teams (of which 4 still exist) but has greatly expanded to 18, as well as Gardelryan Leagues 1-3, and Football has beaten Ice Hockey as the most popular sport in Gardelrya for nearly a century.
