Have the Young Sealions done enough to progress to the Round of 16 of the Under-18 World Cup?

They think so, despite losing the Group D lead to their next opponents, the Busoga Islands after an exhilarating 3-3 draw with Abanhfleft. There was news from Tikariot that the senior squad advanced to the round of 16 despite the 5-0 mauling they suffered on Matchday 1 and being on the back foot due to that loss giving them an inferior goal difference against the other teams in the group. This puts the pressure on Marguerita more than on her senior counterpart Alfonzo, having an exchange of words in their last governance meeting before the respective clubs left the country for their tournaments.

"I was a bit surprised. I thought it was it for them after that demoralizing loss." Marga ensured to show all of her thoughts to Nenah, who was an intern with the Revista FueGO! Magazine. She had no time to ponder on the senior squad's overachievement which were the news in Hispinas. She and her squad need to focus on the task at hand which is the second to the last match of the group, before wrapping up the groups stages with a match with Rwekazaland.

Icecliff In Second!

The Icecliff Daily

Depri Sanar, Chromatika - WOW. Ladies and gentlemen, this is unexpected. Icecliff's U18 team is second in its group at the U18 World Cup. In fact, this was so unexpected, we hadn't even sent a reporter to Depri Sanar. What a mistake. After flying in one late last night, we were finally able to get reporting. So here goes.

Before yesterday, the Icecliffan team had played three games. The first was a 4-2 victory over Cassadaigua which put us into second, ahead of Terre and behind Indusse, the team we had favored to win the group. The good spirit was soon dampened by a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Sarzonia the following day, putting us into fourth, behind them and ahead of Cassadaigua, who had beaten the worst team in Group C, Tikariot. The top two were Indusse and Terre, respectively. In the ensuing bye, nothing changed. The next day, a scarily close 2-1 win over Tikariot put the Icecliffan team into 3rd, behind Terre and Indusse, the latter having a bye and the former beating Sarzonia 2-1. The next day was quite crazy for the Icecliffans. Needing an upset to have a good shot at qualifying, they got it with a nail-biting 4-3 win over Terre. Then, last night, Icecliff had an unfortunate 3-3 tie with Bleronia, the 6th-placed team in the group.

This could be an interesting next few days. Icecliff is third in the group and set to play Indusse tomorrow. Indusse is one of the most legendary sporting nations in the world, so this will be a challenge. Icecliff has racked up a reputation for high-scoring games, with one of the best offenses in the tournament, but it sacrifices any defense at all in doing so. Indusse has one of the better defenses in the tournament, so this game will certainly be a clash of style. Now, let's look at qualifying scenarios:

An Icecliff win tomorrow seals a first-place slot in the group, and would result in a second-place finish for Terre, a third-place finish for Indusse, and a fourth-place finish for Sarzonia.

An Icecliff-Indusse draw puts Indusse in first, Icecliff in second, and Terre in third.

An Indusse win would be bad news. If Sarzonia wins their game and Icecliff loses, Icecliff is out. Even if Sarzonia loses, third-place is not a good place to be, since few third-place teams will advance.

All in all, tomorrow's Icecliff-Indusse game will be a game to watch for everyone, and dedicated fans should also see Sarzonia-Cassadaigua.

Note: At the time of writing, this article was accurate in that Icecliff was second. During the fact-checking process, new results came in from the most recent matchday.

That was a wonderful match! Indusse defeats Sarzonia for a score of 1-2. "That was close and interesting" says Abu Andalusia who is the fitness coach of the team. "My boys are fit! They are the next champs!" shouts the fitness coach while sipping a cup of coffee. Grundjee was the hero again! He scored both the goals and made the team victorious. The next match is against Icecliff, as the name suggests they may be from a snowy region full of cliffs made of Ice. None of the players or staffs have visited Icecliff, so it's a Utopian State for them. "We will smash the cliffs out of them!" smiles and speaks the hero, Grundjee!

"Grundjee, what a name! Why was the goblin named such lame names? Anyone knows? No! Because only the scientist knows. So, let us speak to the scientist crew." Grundjee, pronounced as Grun- G. G was for Goblin and Grun is the name of the scientist who headed the creation of the creature. Mr. Alexander Grun was the head scientist of the mission, he was killed in a blast while researching on superior goblins. The blast killed 13 scientists including Grun.

The Goblin Research Institute located in Sloth Island was renamed from SIGRI (Sloth Island Goblin Research Institute) to Alexander Grun Institute for Goblin Research (AGIGR). Currently, goblin creations are done only at AGIGR. AGIGR has a special environment for the creation of Goblins, Different climates, DNA of different people of different regions of different gender and different flora and fauna can be found inside the AGIGR compound.

The AGIGR also invented the Excalib-E6 Compound Formula which is used to melt diamond in room temperature. The AGIGR also have a soccer team known as the Goblin Institute FC or GIF - C. The Goblin Institute FC is preparing for the upcoming NSCF tournament. Even if they have FC in their name they're mainly a institute team.

Junior Snow Wolves pounce, playoff spot for the taking

The Junior Snow Wolves playing in Myana, Chromatika, stayed up late to watch the Copa Rushmori tie that saw their senior compatriots qualify for the knockout round. The viewing party served as a double celebration: while they themselves are by no means guaranteed of progression to the playoffs, their destiny now lies largely within their own hands, with the straight task ahead of beating Sannyamathland. Should they fail to do so, there are still combinations of results that could see them through either in second or best-placed-third spots, but they can take any complicated calculations off the table with three points.

The win against Grearia was hard-grafted but ultimately assured. First half goals from Sara Kristoffersdóttir, who announced her return from suspension by scoring from a brilliant individual solo run and then being booked for excessive celebration all within 8 minutes of the starting whistle, and Julia Wolfgangsdóttir, whose ruthless touch in front of goal has inspired great hopes for her prospects, put them on a comfortable path to victory. They sweated some good chances from Arthur Casson and Peter Llewyn in the second half and needed a fine save to deny Charlotte Evans, but lockdown defense prevailed as they ran out 2 – 0 winners.

Close Jump, Close Fall

Whew! Just got past that close game! You know, maybe Megistos has the greatest luck ever, knowing that we can steal 1st easily with a win. Better keep an eye close, it's going to be important.

✦✦✦

An important matchday. If Kohnhead won, Megistos would drop. If Megistos won, Kohnhead would surely be eliminated. Of course, it was a tense matchup. The two teams were one point away from each other. One would jump, the other would fall.

The first goal fell to the Brains, who despite having probably the more pressure, jumpstarted themself into the lead. It would start with a great passing play, keeping the ball in the hands of Kohnhead while slowly moving the ball upfield, inch by inch. There was no time for flair and quickness in the early stage of the match: You had to make the ball's path with passing. The ball went to Randall's feet, who was very close to the box. He found Ellison's open legs, and passed it to him. Ellison let the ball roll past her and toward Howells, and Howells had a open chance, and scored, shooting the ball with all her power in the far side of the goal, leaving Becks no chance. Goal Kohnhead, 12th minute.

Megistos would pounce back, however, in the 21st minute. Meadows would lob the ball over to Lukovic, who got shoved down by Ellison. Lukovic would take it quickly, however, and through-balled Robertson. Robertson chopped the ball over to Caliber, and Caliber took the left footed shot, which went past Wells and into the back of the net.

The Turtles would score their second in the 38th minute. Robertson would drop in the penalty box after a pass from Caliber and a slide tackle from Jewels, and he would earn a penalty. Robertson stepped up to take the shot... and sent Wells the wrong way, shooting at the top-right corner while Wells dived left.

✦✦✦

Halftime had ended, and the players were storming the pitch now. Kickoff to Megistos.

The Megistia got their third goal of the night in the 56th minute, with a nice passing play between Meadows and Lukovic, a run made by Meadows in the box, a little nutmeg of Dillard, the pass going to Robertson, and Robertson scoring the easy open goal. They were 3-1 now.

The Megistians would score their final goal of the night in the 66th minute, with a one-two pass from Lukovic to Robertson and back getting past Downes, and Lukovic slotting the ball into the net past Wells' feet.

The Brains would get a consolation goal in the 81st minute, with Acosta getting tripped up just outside the area by Avila. Randall was to take the free-kick, and he shot under the 4-man wall and past Becks' late dive.

The game had been won 4-2 by the Turtles, putting them in second and giving them a big chance to claim first.

✦✦✦

Hopal was going to be hard, no doubt about that. All the teams are good if they can get to this level. But WE SHALL WIN! GO TURTLES! LOS MEGISTIA! TURTLIA MEGISTIA!

Saint-Domingue 3-2 Tequilo: Progression to Round of 16 Secured After Late Thriller
HT 0-0

Two goals in the final ten minutes from Saint-Domingue ensured that they would be one of the first sides to secure their place in the second round.

Despite boasting a 100% record, this was the biggest test yet for the Little Avengers. Their opponents were looking similarly sharp, and could trumpet a flawless record of their own after putting in some very impressive performances to secure four wins out of four. At least one of the two, however, would be losing that record in the course of the ninety minutes.

Chances fell to both sides. A cross from Bellera inadvertently struck the poss, and the rebound was bravely blocked by Laflamme. At Tequilo's end, Kazadi headed just wide from the post and Abas Juanarena was forced into a low save to his right to keep out an effort from Augustin. The Tequiloan captain, Tadeu Dantes, struggled to keep a bouncing ball down in the area and scuffed it painfully wide, whilst the left leg of Durand denied Quita.

Each side crafted chances from set plays too. An intelligent free-kick by Thomas Allard almost opened the deadlock when the playmaker correctly adjudged the jump of the wall, firing under the defence but was firmly denied by Juanarena. A weak punch then fell to Londo but his shot was straight at the grateful goalkeeper, whose error went punished.

The two teams had some good chances, and both went into half-time seemingly satisfied with their own performances. Opportunities to score had been crafted, and there was a sense that this game was almost certainly not ending goalless.

The first goal came quickly after the break, and was a thing of beauty. Urbano Noboa raced on to a superb through ball by Zaquiel Abráldez and chipped brilliantly past an advancing Valentin Durand.

But the Little Avengers hit back very quickly, scoring just five minutes later when Vásquez drove a fine shot into the corner from the edge of the area. A Hurtado effort from distance almost restored the lead for Tequilo immediately but was just centimetres wide. A dangerous Moise cross had to be scrambled away and Juanarena had to save a second free-kick, the game looked like it could go either way - but there was clearly going to be a winner in this contest.

That looked to be the Tequiloans when Noboa scored his second of the night, the stylish winger cutting inside and bending a left-footed shot into the corner. Changes were made on both sides as one hoped to chase victory, and the other seal it.

Things tipped back the way of Saint-Domingue in the final ten minutes. A silly Mëssî concession of possession in his own area gave the ball to Vásquez who crossed low and allowed Augustin to finish at close range. Things were at a knife-edge, tensions heightened as both chased a winner. A shot from Quita was pushed over the bar. But the climax was found from an unlikely source, as full-back Kazadi raced away and somehow found himself through on goal when Saint-Domingue broke for a counter-attack, drilling the ball home in a breathtaking finish.

Progression to the next round of the World Cup in their first ever appearance at the competition beats all expectations set of Leconig's side prior to flying out, and the team deserves every plaudit for their efforts. With one final group stage match to come, changes after expected as the coach tries out new players and gives his heroes a rest as they wait in expectation to find out their opponent in Saint-Domingue's first ever knockout game in any multiversal competition.

The Sannyamathlandian U18 National Team have been disqualified from the U18 World Cup.It was a rather dismal result for the team that played so well, but these young boys have proved that they have the nerves to succeed in such a big tournament. The biggest find of these tournamnet is the captain,Peter Philips, who was already considered as one of the biggest prospects in the World. With a hat trick and one two goal haul,Philips has made it clear that he is ready to don the senior team jersey.Such a brilliant performance has even made him one of the favourites to win the Golden Boy Award of 2020.His brilliant performance might earn him a place in the squad for the World Cup and BoF.
Another find of the tournamnet is the goalkeeper Martin Kasparov. He too put up a stunner of a performance.

Icecliff-Bleronia Game Summary

The Icecliff Daily

Kneyohai, Chromatika - The recent Icecliff-Bleronia game ended in a 3-3 tie, a significant missed opportunity for Icecliff to secure a knockout-round spot. Here is a summary of the game's happenings:

The game began promising enough. Within the first 10 minutes of the 7:00 kickoff, two goals by Hjalmar Rowe, the team's left-footed top scorer, put Icecliff in a commanding lead. The first was a product of skillful footwork, used to bring the ball inside the box for an easy, close-range shot. The second was a beautiful snipe from the far left side to the top right corner of the net. However, the Icecliff side became complacent, and Bleronia responded with a goal off of a penalty kick in the 32nd minute, the opportunity being caused by a lazy foul by Center Defender Bailey Arnold. As a result of this, Bleronia went into the locker room during the break between halves quite happy, while the Icecliff team entered dejected, despite their lead.

The start of the second half was in some ways a flip of the first. Bleronia came out swinging, with a goal off a cross in the 53rd minute and a snipe over the head of an overconfident Peter Thrussel in the 65th minute after the unfortunate goalkeeper came out too far from the net. Only a desperate goal in extra time, a weak right-footed chip shot by Lee Roberts which went over the head of a defender and then bounced through the hands of the unsuspecting Bleronian goalkeeper, then trickling into the goal in such a manner that it almost seemed depressed. But, depressed football or no, it was a goal, and it was a goal the Icecliffan team needed to boost morale going into what is sure to be a tough game against Indusse.

HUElavia Obliterates Starblaydia in Advance to the Knockouts!

Starblaydia 1-7 HUElavia
(REDACTED 90' | Silvestre 11', Girault 23', Mizuno 24', 26', al-Safi 29', Sol 69', 79')
(Z'ai'ai Field, Z'ai'ai)

HUElavia came into Matchday 6 entering their final match of the Group Stage. In what was supposed to be the highlighted match of Group E between two heavyweights in Starblaydia and HUElavia. Although, Starblaydia had a massive choke in this tournament, coming in already eliminated with 0 Points. Thus, HUElavia played with their B-Team in order to give rest to the starters before a possible knockout appearance. Although, the B-Team had to play well, along with Baptista in goal and Grünberg serving as Captain for the match. A very large number of HUElavians were present in the match, cheering on the team with joy and passion.

The opening goal was in the 11th minute, when Silvestre got a pass from Mizuno, where he took a curving shot that flew past REDACTED into the goal to make it 0-1. Then, a corner was won in the 23rd minute, where al-Safi sent in the kick, only for Girault to come and head the ball past a diving REDACTED into the goal to make it 0-2. Lightning would strike 25 seconds later, as Mizuno would dispossess REDACTED, where she ran and gave a violent, low shot to send it past a REDACTED that stood still to score a goal, making it 0-3. The crowd was shocked, but celebrated each goal with passion, making the stadium rumble from the cheers and jumps of the HUElavians. Then, in the 26th miunte, Bonhomme would dispossess REDACTED, take a shot that REDACTED would save, but it would land to the left foot of Mizuno, who tapped it in to make it 0-4, with her celebrating together with her teammates. In the 29th minute, Krickstein would run with the ball sending a low pass into the box, only for al-Safi to come from the center to chip it past REDACTED, making it 0-5 with not even half an hour played in the match. By halftime the scoreboard read Starblaydia 0-5 HUElavia, to which many HUElavians took photos of the jumbotron. The second half saw Di Stefano, Bonhomme, and Tan go off for Sol, Torrisi, and Ezwa, looking to add some more goals into the match. It would happen, as in the 69th minute, Mizuno would run into the box to the byline, sending a cross in, only for Sol to head it down past REDACTED and into the goal to make it 0-6. The crowd was in joy at another goal being scored, and eventually, another one would go in. In the 79th minute, a pass from al-Safi would reach Sol, who would give a vigorous blast that flew past two defenders and REDACTED, who stood still looking at the ball, as it went into the goal to make it 0-7. Sol celebrated with his teammates, while the crowd jumped with passion and joy to make the stadium rumble, as it was a historic victory in any football team in HUElavian history. Fans took photos of the scoreline, reading Starblaydia 0-7 HUElavia, in what was a brutal beatdown. Evnetually, Starblaydia began to attack, and in the 90th minute, a pass from REDACTED would reach the feet of REDACTED, who tapped it past Baptista into the goal to make it 1-7. Regardless, it was too little, too late, as HUElavia took the victory minutes later, in what was the lergest victory for the U18 team in it's history: Starblaydia 1-7 HUElavia.

With the victory, HUElavia retains 1st Place with 12 Points (3-3-0), and earns their spot to the Round-of-16. Despite the victory, HUElavia still do not know whether they will finish 1st or 2nd Place after Megistos won their match 4-1 vs Sharktail. Regardless the team can rest and train well for now. In due time, we will know whether we advance as Group E Winners or Runner-Up. For the next match after the bye, Marin will start and a mix of mainly A-Team players with some B-Team players will play again. Fans look forward to the match and hope and pray for the team's success.

FORCA HUELAVIA! VAMOS HUELAVIA! GO HUELAVIA!

CHROMATICS
INVOLVING A MODIFICATION OF THE NORMAL SCALE BY THE USE OF ACCIDENTALS

Part 6/7: Word of the day - Fribiqinqui

The Wightling adjective friable comes from Middle Mustardo friable from Classical Costelloan friābilis “easily crumbled, crumbly,” a derivative of the verb friāre “to break into small pieces, crumble.” Friāre is akin to the verb fricāre “to rub, chafe” (source of Wightling friction) and the adjective frīvolus “worthless, trashy” (Wightling frivolous). In the Olden Days, when studying Classical Costelloan in high school was routine, some clever wag would reinvent for the millionth time the saying Sīc friat crustulum “Thus crumbles the cookie.” [Editor's Note: this "joke" constitutes part of the lift from diccionario.teq and in no way represents the creative output of the Moderate Humour Division within the Narratives Department at the House of Shambles in San Pablo Contra-Catedral from where I am posting these otherwise concerted attempts to be mildly amusing.] High classical Arataíno q´uchuk, "break, bend, crack" and b´iqink "rub, anoint" form part of the compound Huayna-Costelloan (that is to say, Tequiloan coarse colloquial) friqucho, "easy crack" [as in easy mark, particularly in sexual advances] and fribiqinqui "easy rubbings" - a quick win or effortless return; also what might happen if your friqucho is amenable.

Ten minutes after the match;

Per contract, defeated team coach Juan Manuel Botín is dragged out of the dressing room and stood in front of a sponsors graphics board, handed a mic and an earpeice. Local Chromatik sports anchor Abi Verkler asks him a question; it sounds like this:

Flenru Juan Manuel, naonno ionute hryt dehyd dðaoe o iwfetûtne pstedayeiþ oewh?

A voice speaks in his ear - Well, Juan Manuel, was this a case of defeat snatched from the, err, piggy snout I think that means, a case of defeat snatched from the piggy snout of victory?

...aes nsi tdþ horà ordfi Blaise Kazadi es depn e þnos fo mie Saint-Domingues engai in ayülad skna hire fe htteg hfiw fdlen sað sa tœ u napb et ohd sto súwn kæte, doob Pitxileros pase ore haed o oahe etsic nena eselt lïo ot uwcfe meesan o oeþi shs thre?

The voice continues - do you feel Blaise Kazadi struck lucky for Saint-Domingues, some are suggesting there was a foul in an earlier phase of the play, but the... err... Pitxileros? Is that footballers? But the footballers did not complain or appeal?

...ekie sfm næ baẓr it dhunee?

Are you... err... without intestines? No, wait, have you been gutted? Gutted? Are you gutted? I think she is asking if you have been disembowelled but I really can't believe that's what they would ask you would they, I mean it's only a game of football, or is she suggesting that's what will happen to you when you get home? Oh my gods! Is that what they do to you if you lose at football, do they take you away and disembowel you? Saints alive, this is worse than Gregisgodistan, you poor man, why don't you claim asylum here, I could help you with the paperwork, I really don't mind, I only got into the translation game to do humanitarian work anyway, I don't know how I ended up at a football match, but anyway, do they gut the players too or just the handsome bosses, if you'll excuse my forward manner - oh dogs, how insensitive of me, flirting when you have just been issued a death sentence by your wicked government, I do apologise, I should have learned from the first time this happened, my name is Ava by the way, I'm also available in Vilitan, Audioslav, Euran and Candelarian - that's just my little joke sorry...

Defeated team coach Botín took the earpiece out and addressed the sports anchor.

"Forgive my poor language skills," he said, speaking louder than usual in the hope it would assist the anchor in understanding him, "let's just say, I'm not sure what happened out there but my team seemed to get their fribiqinqui on and while that might be the naïvety of youth, I'll expect them to learn their lesson for the next game. No game is a fribiqinqui..." he said, and then replacing his earpiece, added "nor a friqucho, at that."

Hebitaka at an Edge

The Hebitaki team played their first U-18 game against Megistos. And from then a lot of changes has happened to the team. The loss against Megistos is yet the only one loss for the Hebitaki. The team went on to win two and draw two in the next four taking them to the third spot with eight points by end of the sixth matchday. And as for the third placers, Hebitaka is 5th amongst the third placers. The team is on to the edge where they not only have to depend on a victory in the last match, but also a firm victory and the loss of some teams in their final game.
Let's have a look at the Journey of Hebitaka until date and the future possibilities that could take in or push out Hebitaka from the playoffs.

Matchday 1 - vs Megistos(Loss 3-0):
The first game against the Megistos was one that was quite a harsh game for the Hebitaki. The team was early on attack to strike three quick chances and scoring the first at 20' with Robertson. The second goal was a gamble as Fresh fouled the captain Jorgenson giving them a penalty, which was a clean score by Robertson. The Megistos ended with score of 3-0 with their final goal coming up at 85' by Lukovic. Even after some prominent attacks from Choudhary and Ramakant, the team could not even get a score.

Matchday 2 - vs Starlaybdia(Win 5-2):
The next game was a big hit for the young guns. The score was opened by the unknown player 11 when he scored the first one at 24'. But the lead was just hold for a mere 8 minutes as Choudhary made it his at 32'. The game equalized until the 40th minute, when the scramble happened. On the 42nd minute, Yuu's great free kick cross and Carls magnificent header got the team ahead by 2-1. But a quick counter attack and fault by Starlaybdian strikers gave Fiji the chance to lob up to Nishinoya who gets the assist as he passed the ball to Choudhary who got the ball to touch the nets. The First half ended in 3-1. The next goal came when Robin tried his luck out from edge of the penalty box in 60th minute. And that chance proved that Robin had a great luck as the ball went for a goal. The game would follow on for a free kick goal from Victor and the Hat trick goal from Choudhary finishing game at 5-2.

Matchday 3 - vs HEUlavia(Draw at 0):
This game vs the HEUlavia was not the game for strikers as the golies got their game made. Baptisa, the HEUlavian keeper got his day with a man of the game. The Hebitaki defenders made a godd day, only allowing 5 shots on target.

Matchday 4 - vs Kohnhead(Draw at 1):
No proper recording was done for this match. The only thing known is that Ramakant from Hebitaka got his first goal at 22' and retained the lead till the 77th minute when Acosta got his goal to Equalize the game till the end.

Matchday 5 - vs Hopal(Win 5-0):

This game was completely taken over by the Hebitaki. The first half went 3-0 with Ramakant scoring 2, opening one at 31' and next at 43' and Carls in middle of the two at 38'. These three quick scores ended the first half at 3-0. The second half was scoreless for quite a few time until in the 73rd minute Carls got another score and then went for his hat trick in the 88th minute. The game ended at 5-0 with Carls as MOTM with a Hat trick.

Matchday 6 - BYE

Matchday 7 - vs Sharktail:
Currently standing just behind Hebitaka, Sharktail and Hebitaka has quite the fight for the third position, a victory can even get them a second. With all that has happened yet and before there is a chance of 27% for Sharktail Victory, 24% Hebitakish Victory, and 49% chance of the game ending in a draw. Let's hope for the best.

U18's eager to face Saint-Domingue
by Fiona Devlin, National Soccer Writer

Following their fourth win in five outings here at the RTC Under 18 World Cup, the Commonwealth of Baker Park National Team will close out the group stage where it began, at the United Center in Urrheddiao, where they will face off against first-timers Saint-Domingue, who sit alone in first place of Group B with a undefeated record.

The Little Avengers have cruised to a berth in the knockout stage on the back of their defense, allowing only one goal through the entire tourney until Tequilo put two past them in the previous match; all five goals in the the 3-2 Saint-Domingue win came in the final 45 minutes at Teal Block in Tor.
Win or lose, BP should make it through to the final 16, if not as one of the top two finishers, then certainly as one of the top four third placed sides; Tequilo also seem pretty safe in their advancement prospects ahead of their final match against Zeta Reka & Hugeltaldom.

Assistant Manager Liam Sullivan addressed the media ahead of the final match in place of Danielle Harper, saying the squad was looking forward to the chance to face off against the Little Avengers.

"We've really seen the returners from last time taking the lead in providing that sense of ownership of the the team, as all of our 18 year olds have done in the past; they understand they are carrying on a legacy from the group in Abahnfleft (SWC 5, the debut appearance) and the team from Siovanija & Teusland. They want to continue that tradition of success, and fair play and being recognized for the way they represent the nation in the eyes others. They've seen (Saint-Domingue) come here for the first time and excel, and they understand that we owe it to newcomers to show them respect. The competitive element is important also, but back at Birkenfeld (FAC Development Training Center) it's also important to us to foster good relationships at age group level."

Sullivan was asked his thoughts on Harper's debut as manager, as her only previous opportunities to be in charge came with U13's & U15's.
"I'm not evaluating the boss while we're in the middle of the tournament. No way (laughter from media). When I was asked to come along to help out, I drew on the experience that Jen (Prescott) had when she was Tony Weiss' number 2 in the (SWC5) and had a talk with her to refresh my memory of how she approached the role. I feel like I've operated in a similar way--as a sounding board, as a catalyst for ideas, being hands on in training. We had a long talk, Danielle & I after the changes were made, and we had another long talk on the flight here. I told her that she was ready for this step, she's had the opportunity to work on staff with a lot of different people in her time. So far, I'd say she's taken that to heart."

The Football Fallacies
with Graham O'Doherty

ALWAYS HAVE TO MAKE EVERYTHING DIFFICULT FOR OURSELVES

Hello guys, and welcome back to another edition of The Football Fallacies with me, your gay Irishman Graham O'Doherty. Right, so in their neverending quest to put every single Fleftic football fan through an emotional rollercoaster, the footballing gods have decided that this time we're going to get a draw. I swear, sometimes it feels like these gods just stick their hand into a jar and pick out the result we're going to have through that. Doesn't matter how it happens, if the gods say we're going to draw, we're going to draw, and that's that!

I mean, it was clear as day that Abanhfleft had the better of Hispinas for the first hour of this game. Well, more accurately, make that Derrick Kinoshita had the better of Hispinas for the entirety of that hour. Oh, the lad was just everywhere. The Hispinas defenders were literally crashing into each other trying to chase his shadow! I've seen dogs chasing their tails have far more success in achieving their objective than those guys had in shutting Kinoshita down.

Okay, so our attack was up to snuff that time. What about the defence though? I said before the team was doing well for the first hour. Then as soon as Jerome Buclod was subbed off, things went off the rails for us. Like, literally. Whoever thought that putting on Rose Bane and making her mark the likes of Txeru Segura should be made to eat expired canned dog food soaked in curdled milk and toe jam. Cause that's a matchup that's never going to end well for us, and it didn't. I'm sorry Rose, but when your complete lack of aerial ability is the direct cause of two goals being scored against your team, it's pretty obvious that you're the weakest link. Christ above, my grandma could jump higher than Rose Bane, and she's been dead for over a decade now!

And what was even that free kick bullshit from Hispinas at the end of the ninety? Fool me once, shame on yiu. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times... there's just no words. It was completely obvious what they were trying to do in the last few minutes with three free kick takers every time they got the call in their favour. Twice Abanhfleft fell for it. And the one time we didn't, Hispinas fucking scored from it anyway. And now what looked like it would have been a somewhat comfortable journey to the playoffs now just got a little bit rockier. We're in third place in our group and there's still two games left to play for. We really could have made things easier for ourselves but no, the footballing gods simply couldn't have that. No, Fleftic fans must suffer through thinking about the numerous group permutations that will see us eliminated despite two wins to our name. That's just our sorry lot in life, sadly. XOXO from.Graham....

Icecliff Advances!

The Icecliff Daily

Depri Sanar, Chromatika - In an exciting evening match between Indusse and Icecliff, the result came out tied. As predicted in our earlier issue, this meant that Group C ended with Indusse in first, followed by Icecliff and Terre, respectively. Before we get into details and predictions, it's time for a match summary:

The match did not start out well for the Icecliff side, with Indusse putting on some serious pressure. Combine that with Icecliff's weak defense, and something bad was bound to happen. In the 34th minute, an exquisite cross from the right corner by Goblin Grundjee, the Indusse squad's star since the tournament began, put right into the center of the box between the feet of Rahul Kumar, resulted in an easy shot past Peter Thrussel. Goal for Team Indusse.

Dejected, Icecliff began to play sloppily, and the referee was strict on calling fouls. A foul for tripping in the 41st minute, committed by Bailey Arnold yet again, resulted in a dangerous chance for Indusse. With Goblin Grundjee shooting, it was a near-sure goal for Indusse. However, a lucky dive to the bottom right corner resulted in a save. This, plus the substitution of Storm Elwes for Bailey Arnolds, got the team back into the spirit as they went on the attack again. Unfortunately, despite a couple chances, they were unable to score before halftime.

After halftime, Icecliff came out swinging. With their all-attack strategy in full force, they contained Indusse near their goal for most of the half. But some incredible defensive play by the winning squad stopped the Icecliffans from breaking in. The chance came in the 75th minute, following an eager shot from outside the box by Hadley Falk, which was accurate enough to necessitate a deflection by Alex Graham. This put the Icecliff squad in a corner-kick position, and they were determined to make the best of it. A quick pass from Levi Eklund out to Vere Eads resulted in a low-angle shot for Icecliff. It was an easy save, but impossible to control. The ball hit Alex Graham's chest and deflected out to Hjalmar Rowe, who streaked in from the left for an easy shot into a wide-open net for the equalizer.

The rest of the game saw both teams playing it quite conservative, not willing to give up a goal, and in doing so, possibly eliminating their chances at advancing to the knockout round. The game ended 1-1.

Now, let's look at what this means for Icecliff going into the knockout round. First, do a little victory dance, since we DID qualify. We were seeded 11th out of 16, meaning that we would have had to play Indusse again. However, this is not allowed, so schedules got shuffled around a bit and we will be playing Megistos instead. It will be a tough challenge. Megistos placed first in Group E, with only one loss and with all of their victories coming by two goals or more. The match will be played in two days, at 2:15 P.M., located at the United Center in Urrheddiao. We highly encourage fans to turn out and support the Icecliff squad as they try to advance further, against the odds!

That was the end of Group stage, Indusse faced Icecliff in The Hive, Deprí Sanar. The match was the most important and entertaining match in the group. The match for the first place. Indusse lead the game for the score of 1-0 till the 76th Minute. At the 77th Minute, Icecliff scored the equiliser. Goblin Grundjee of Indusse scored the most beautiful goal for the team and got the team drawn with Icecliff. The goal was on the 34th Minute with a wonderful cross from Rahul Kumar. The match ended with a score 1-1 and with more goal difference, Indusse was made the group champions! Eventhough, Icecliff had the same points, Due to goal difference criterion indusse was able to lead the standings. The third team which qualified was Terre Septentrionale who also had the same point as the toppers. The group qualification was too much complicated and thus, they got in to the next round.

In the 87th Minute of the game, Goblin Grundjee was injured. 'Oh no! The Star player is been hurt! What will we do? Panic!' writes Julma Das, senior sports journalist explaining how the team reacted when the Grundjee got hurt. Grundjee was immediately substituted and was taken to the nearest hospital. Was it a big injury? It wasn't still... as he isn't a human and is a goblin he needs to be checked. Three Scientists from Goblin Research Institute in Sloth Island (AGIGR) arrived at the hospital and checked the goblin. They injected some DNA samples into him and said that he's all right and is ready for the next match. Grundjee left the hospital after six hours and tweeted in Twiitur the SNS.

I am alright! It was just a small injury, I'll be back to play against Abanhfleft in the Round 1 Playoffs of RTC WorldCup. Thank you for your prayers.

The next match is against Abanhfleft, they're not a weak team. It's going to be hard for Indusse to get passed. Will Indusse reach the semis again and be the champions at the finals? Yes! They should! millions of Fans at Indusse is praying for the victory. Don't Lose hope. There is still time left!

Indussean team selectors looks into the past, to the season when indusse was 3rd in the tournament. Banija were the champions, Starblaydia was the first runners up and Indusse defeated Baker Park to win the third spot in the tournament. This time in the playoffs we don't have the former champions of Banija and Starblaydia. Baker Park is facing Hispinas in the first round at Hawk's Nest, Deprí Lanar. Deprí Lanar seems to be the twin city of the Indussean Venue Deprí Sanar. The staffs still remember that WorldCup, where Indusse lost to Starblaydia in the semis and returned with a fabulous win against Baker Park in the 3PPO.

The Virtual Match Predicting systems have started predicting, Icecliff Daily predicts that Baker Park will win the finals where they may face Tequilo. The hosts Chromatika may have a chance to secure the third spot in the tournament. If Indusse wins Octofinal of the playoffs, they'll have to face either Saint-Domingues or Hebitaka in the QuarterFinals and the winners then will have to face one of the nations:Tequilo,Sylestone,Juvencus or Transvolcanic in the semi finals. Let's see who wins and who secures the spot forward. May Margaret be with Indusse!

We Got 1st Was Added To Contacts

Like last time. Ooooh, 2 times first, ooooooh, 2 times first. Yeah, we got first 2 times in a row! Hooray! But it was hard to achieve, but we won it, after all. What will be next?

✦✦✦

The game was starting. The game that would decide their fate. Would they go through, to have a longer run? Would they lose, and possibly get knocked out. No Megistian knew, but what they did know is that they would be with the team... forever.

Robertson touched the ball. The 90 minutes, had begun. The seconds were ticking down on the clock.

Megistos, seeing their hype, would score first, in the 14th minute. Jorgenson would take the ball up field on a counterattack following [attacker1]'s poor shot. He spotted Lukovic on the flank, and passed it to him. The 18 year-old would tap a cross in back to Jorgenson, and Jorgenson pounded the ball in the back of the net just outside the box, past [goalkeeper]'s diving hands, and it ended up in the corner of the net. Megistos were 1-0 up.

Megistos would roar again, in the 27th minute. Robertson would receive the ball after a beautiful lob from Quintero. He would head the ball in the air, and rabona it to Caliber, who was free of [defender4] and was open. Caliber dribbled toward Robertson, which there was space, and shot the ball with his left, and it went into the back of the net. 2-0.

Megistia would then turn it 3-0 just before half-time in the 43rd minute, when Lukovic was dribbling the ball, broke [defender1]'s ankles, and crossed the ball in. The towering head of Avila would pound it in the net.

After half-time, Megistos struck again, scoring in the 56th minute. Quintero would spot Robertson open, and would pass to him. With a defender on his back, he flicked it up in the air over his head and volleyed it to Lukovic, and he captured the ball cleanly, found holes in the Hopal defense and found Caliber's run, he through-balled it to Caliber and Caliber, with a flash, shot it in the back of the net cleanly over the goalkeeper.

Hopal would score, or would I dare say, Megistos score, in the 69th minute. [midfielder2] would take a corner, and McCaffrey would touch the ball with his head, and it would deflect off [attacker1] and into the back of the net.

Megistos would score again for the final time of the afternoon in the 72nd minute, Lukovic would fall down in the box after a long dribble and a trip by [defender2]. The defender got a red card, and Robertson took the penalty, slotting it in the middle while [goalkeeper] dived right.

FINAL SCORE Megistos 5-1 Hopal

✦✦✦

Megistos are through! Yippee! Hooray! However, their next opponent is Icecliff. With a 3-2-1 record against Megistos' 4-1-1, plus their experience and goal difference, you could say that Megistos would win. However, none of the Top 16 will be easy to beat, and Icecliff won't be either easy to beat.

Predictions (Twilight Write)
Here are the predictions for the knockout stage of the tournament. It may be slightly biased, maybe not. But these are the people's votes, from Megistos.

Baker Park 0-0 Saint-Domingue: Baker Park Joins Saint-Domingue in Round of Sixteen After Goalless Draw
HT 0-0

A goalless draw was enough to secure Baker Park progression the next round as well as ensuring Saint-Domingue finished top of Group B in Urrheddiao.

A cloudy day at the United Centre was matched by a rather dull performance, as both sides perhaps recognised that a point apiece would secure both sides their goal.

Changes were rung as Leconig rotated his side heavily, giving many of the team their first start at the tournament. The side looked inexperienced and fresh, but such rotation can sometimes be necessary considering the intensity and rapid pace of fixtures at a multiversal tournament.

After impressing off the bench against Tequilo Cadet impressed once again, and surely must be on the brink of starting in the knockout rounds. The midfielder is very highly-rated back home, and has already made a number of appearance for his first-team. Perhaps with this in mind, the coach has so far tried to limit the number of minutes the playmaker has had. But with knockout games approaching Leconig has a real headache deciding just who of his excellently-performing squad deserves to play.

Other highlights include Jérôme Thiam's recovery for the knock which had denied him an appearance in his last few games, whilst Laurent Simon displayed his versatility once more and can boast strong defensive performances at both the left and right of defence.

In Group B's other fixtures, Tequilo finished 2nd after an exciting 5–2 win over Zeta Reka & Hugeltaldom, whilst already eliminated Poafmersia beat fellow group-stage finishers Oberour Ar Moro 3-0.

Looking ahead to the next round, Saint-Domingue's excellent placing means that they will be facing one of the weaker-ranked sides left in the competition - Hebitaka, who finished 3rd in Group A, who only secured their progression on the last day after beating Sharktail 3-1 in a thrilling winner-takes-all contest. The Little Avengers will finally be leaving Urrhed Island, as they fly to the Chromatikan mainland for their last sixteen clash at Felswyr, in the Mountain District. The youngsters from Saint-Domingue had spoken very positively of their time on Urrhed Island, mixing with the locals and being offered a very warm reception. As we move on the second round, the Little Avengers look to make even more history for their side.
Lineup:

HUElavia Finishes 2nd Place in Group E!

After the Bye in Matchday 6, Los Amarillos/Os Amarelos finally get their final result in Group E: 2nd Place with 12 Points and a record of 3-3-0. This finish was handed to the team after Megistos hammered Hopal 1-5, and won the group with 13 Points (4-1-1). Hebitaka also managed to advance as one of the four best 3rd Place teams with 11 Points (3-2-1).

Thus, for this edition of the U18 World Cup, a seeding was given based on the final standings of the Group Stage, and HUElavia was given as the #9 seed of the Round-of-16. Our opponent will be Graintfjall, the Runners-Up of Group A, who finished with 13 Points (4-1-1). The match will be played at The Tidal Wave (95,210), in Tihon, with a good chunk of the fans being HUElavian. Some pundits across the multiverse are writing off HUElavia, expecting them to get eliminated in this round, but the team is not paying heed to these naysayers. The team is training hard and studying to play their best against Graintfjall. Ocampo got a cramp during training the other day, meaning Mizuno will start in her place, who came off her best match in her career with 2 goals to her name. Grünberg will also be staring over Rodionovna. The other nine players will be the main starters of the team, with Torrisi serving as Captain and Marin playing as the Starting Goalie.

The winner of the match will play against the winner of Chromatika vs Terre Septentrionale in the Quarter-Finals, which is scheduled to be played at RCK Field (100,400), in Alnio. Despite this potential meeting, Los Amarillos/Os Amarelos are not interested in learning their opponent, for they have to focus on winning the game against Graintfjall. It's "Win or Go Home" for the remaining 16 teams, and anyone can win the tournament. Fans will be praying for a victory in the coming days, while the team will be train and focus on the game at hand. Here's to winning against Grainfjall and making the Quarter-Finals.

U18's now focused on 'survive & advance'
by Fiona Devlin, National Soccer Writer

After a scoreless draw against Saint-Domingue in the final group match of the Under 18 World Championship settled the table for the Urrhed Island based Group B, leaving the Baker Park side as the best of the four third place finishers to advance, the team and the scene now shifts to Depri Lanar, on the main island, where Hispinas awaits for a Round of 16 match.

The fourth seeds are making their debut at the U18WC, coming out atop Group D that included Mavinet, Busoga Islands, & Abanhfleft. There were several calls among the coaching staff to various sources of information, both about the opponent, and the stadium, The Hawk's Nest. Cassadaigua played two matches in their group in Depri Lanar and Manager Danielle Harper had a 20 minute conversation with her counterpart in charge of the Fillies, while coach Ryan Zavaros spoke with a member of the Mavinet backroom staff to get a general idea of what to expect.

The match against the Little Avengers lived up to the promise of two sides with strong defenses; possibly a bit lower on the intensity scale than if there had been everything to play for, but it didn't appear that either side chose to completely forsake attacking, as the Bees came out from kickoff looking to find holes in the Saint-Domingue back line. Harper could be heard even in the press gallery shouting from the technical area to her squad to "re-start", ostensibly an instruction to recycle possession and begin the intricate passing game in a different combination.

There were enough chances from both sides to keep both keepers—Geoff Cotterill, making his third appearance in Chromatika, and the Little Avengers' Alexandre Hernández--who each saved all 5 shots on target they faced.

At the final whistle there were smiles all around, as the single point clinched top spot in the Group for Saint-Domingue, and although Tequilo's win meant they leaped over BP into the runner up position, most neutral observers believed that there were no other sides in other groups that were going to surpass the 13 points the Bees earned.

The Sealions are expected to present a counterattacking style against the Junior Bees; although they appear to play deep, they scored 20 goals during the group stage.

Posted on the In Brief section of the GTV website.
First round blues don’t inspire blues in the Junior Blues(-and-Whites)

Ahead of their Round of 16 clash in the Under-18 World Cup, Rúbar Wernersson said that the Junior Snow Wolves had not been affected in their preparation by watching the senior side’s 7-2 drubbing at the hands of Nephara in the Copa Rushmori back home, or the wider failure of the Græntfjaller national teams to progress past first rounds. Two editions of the Copa Rushmori and one of the Cup of Harmony, plus the World Cup playoff round, have all proven a hurdle too high for those wearing the blue-and-white. The unfortunate confluence of recent HUElavian victories in ice hockey add an extra pressure according to some, though Wernersson dismissed the idea. “It doesn’t bother us,” said Wernersson. “We can be the exception. It’s just us against HUElavia tomorrow night, and history really doesn’t factor into it.”

The Junior Snow Wolves concluded their group stage with a 4-2 win over Sannyamathland, a game Wernersson was forced to sit out of after picking up a second yellow card for the tournament in the match against Grearia. His defensive midfield partner Solbjørg Arisdóttir was similarly the recipient of a second booking in the Sannyamathland, meaning she will miss the Round of 16 tie. “It’s frustrating,” admitted Wernersson. “We’re not a dirty team but ticky-tacky fouls keep cropping up. Seeing [Arisdóttir] booked in the garbage time of a game we were comfortably ahead in was a little annoying.” Coach Torsten Oliversson has stressed discipline throughout the campaign and has said that getting young Græntfjallers accustomed to international standards of officiating is an important part of their gaining experience at the Cup.

Much of the attention on the Junior Snow Wolves during the tournament has focussed on central midfielder Sara Kristoffersdóttir, the only member of the team to have won a senior cap. Called up at the preternatural age of 16 for the previous Copa Rushmori, her brief stint in blue-and-white proved unsuccessful, and although she won Young Player of the Year Awards, was unable to prevent Fliserboding from being relegated from the Premier League. She has since signed to play for Lokomotive Jarnstad in Savojarna. Wernersson, however, is insistent: “Sara is a very good player but we’re not a one-woman team. Julia [Wolfgangsdóttir] has been in excellent scoring form, and Lia [Benediktsdóttir] and Vanessa [Marvinsdóttir] have looked very good. We think we have a lot of different things to offer on the pitch.”

Irrespective of the outcome of the knockout game, the Under-18 World Cup experience has generally proven successful enough for KG to allocate funds for future tournaments and confirm Trine Kakalisdóttir as permanent coach; Oliversson has announced he will move on to “other opportunities” in the future. The Junior Snow Wolf Pack of travelling fans making the trip from Myana to Tihon is small and mostly confined to family members and support staff, but TV ratings back home have been favorable despite the competing Copa Rushmori. For Wernersson, the future extends only one game ahead.

The Football Fallacies
with Graham O'Doherty

CHRIST ABOVE. JUST CHRIST ABOVE.

Hello guys, and welcome back to another edition of The Football Fallacies with me, your gay Irishman Graham O'Doherty. I swear, the time that an Abanhfleft youth football team finally gets through a group stage without any problems is going to be the day that I give birth to a flying pig. We truly are the footballing gods' plaything, aren't we? I mean, how else can you explain the fact that we've had three goals—three goals!—wrongfully ruled for offside despite the fact that we have the video assistant referee available? Christ above, even technology meant to stop these kinds of simple officiating mistakes from happening can't stop the simple fact that the footballing gods demand that we lose this game.

Christ above, it's the complete opposite of the game against Mavinet, isn't it? That game, the footballing gods wanted us to win so we were made to win, even when Mavinet had clearly dominated us back then. Derrick Kinoshita was so lucky that he got that penalty call in his favour. Lots of referees would have waved it off as simply the inevitable contact that comes with playing football, and some other referees might have even booked him for simulation. But no, we had perhaps the only referee in Chromatika willing to not only call the contact on Kinoshita but also give the penalty.

Look, I'm not saying that there's a conspiracy out there to make sure Abanhfleft stays shit to the heat death of the universe. All I'm saying is that when the fates say that Abanhfleft must lose, we're going to lose. Screw all the possession, all the shots on target, all the key passes attempted and made; we must lose. But no, Abanhfleft can't just simply lose. No, we have to get some hope that maybe we'll be able to turn this game around and extract a draw and maybe even a win from this godawful mess! But how in the world are we supposed to do that if our players kept getting flagged for offside? Sure, three times the linesman got it right, but the other three times... Christ above. The officials dropped the ball on those calls harder than the bass in an EDM concert. Not that I would know what an EDM concert sounds like. I've only ever been to a csárdás. Nope, totally know nothing about EDM at all.

Anyway, when our players weren't busy getting called for offside, they were smashing the ball straight into the hands of the Silvedanian goalkeeper. At least that's what they were doing when they were not busy trying to take out the spectators in the nosebleeds. Christ above, the way Jimmy Cornish was slapping away balls from his goal left and right like nobody's business, you'd be forgiven for thinking that that was François Tantoh playing against us! Well, to be fair every goalkeeper turns into (insert goalkeeper currently considered best in the world here) whenever Abanhfleft plays against their team. Doesn't matter if they're from Pasarga or Poafmersia, keepers just take to another level whenever they're up against us! Becky Hinojosa scoring that thundercunt of a goal near the end of the game almost seems like a footnote, but honestly now, not even the footballing gods were going to be able to stop that. Anyone trying to get in the way of that ball and the back of the net are going to have a football-shaped hole in their chest for their troubles.

And that's the end of my little rant. Abanhfleft are through to the knockout stage, but because of this loss against Silvedania, we are not seeded as highly as we would have liked. Nevertheless, we've been drawn against Indusse, a country which while they haven't made much waves in any sport at the moment, they're really pumped for this game. Wouldn't even be surprised if they pump us out of the Round of 16. That's so typically Fleftic of us. XOXO from Graham....

(OOC: No goalscorers listed because Silvedania didn't say whether their goalscorers could be chosen or not)

CHROMATICS
INVOLVING A MODIFICATION OF THE NORMAL SCALE BY THE USE OF ACCIDENTALS

Part 7/7: Word of the day - Qiranha

Irenic “peaceful, conciliatory” comes straight from Ancient Gecko eirēnikós “belonging to peace,” a derivative of the noun eirḗnē. Eirḗnē was also the name of the Geckoa goddess of Peace, the name of an 8th-century Uraqua empress, and the name of several Costelloan saints, whence the Wightling female name Irene. The confusing number of dialect forms (irā́nā, irḗnā, ireinā, etc.) point to a non-Gecko origin, whilst linguists have struggled to explain away the coincidence of pre-Costelloan plato-índigo qirā́nā, as in the qiranha fish found in southern Tequilo cloud forest tributaries, the Tamarindian rainforest and the mighty Agua Corazón rivers (Tamarin, Pirata, Fisura and Costelo the main of them) that strike serene bewilderment into any who encounter them with their extreme schooling, overwhelming friendliness and joyous enthusiasm for attention; qiranho (m.)/qiranha (f.) coming to mean "a collective of attentive fellows".

Ultra-Mariachi Mardelio Colibrí has followed the national team, Los Pitxileros, through thick and thin, "like that 6-2 win over The Jovannic in Kelssek in the Cup of Harmony [...] - it was wet and cold and even Basil was depressed when we got into the ground - he wanted to go home! - but by the end, we were all barking." Basil, of course, is the oft-mentioned '+dog' in the many reports of attendance by the 'Ultra-Mariachis (8 sombreros+dog)'. Most of the time, the focus is naturally on Los Pitxileros - the footballers - and there are only the merest hints of some of the adventures the loyal band have experienced in their treks around the multiverse, like some of these clippings here:

TEQUILO 2-1 Hsowa; HT: 0-0
Location: Seafoam Athletic Park, Saint Anne, Seafoam Islands
Attendance: 47 locals, the Tequiloan Ultra-Mariachis (8+dog) & 12 skittles with balls

The Transvolcanic Federation advances to Round of 16
Transvolcanic drew 2-2 against Sylestone and won 4-2 against Equestria, next opponents: Juvencus

The U-18 team has got Juvencus for the round of 16, a very strong team unfortunately, first of all: the matchdays 6-7:

-Matchday 6:
Starting XI:
-Piotr Böss
-Ahcalli Tepeototl
-Anderson Velasco
-Marien Poszcesz
-Yassine Bouhmadi
-Sebastian Galvani
-Reiss Nelson
-Daniil Reimanen
-Rob Uljwaajik
-Poliberto Echeverria
-Johann-Peter Mandala

Sylestone's starting XI
-Al Foil
-Wok
-Frying pan
-Egg timer
-Water jug
-Knife
-Kitchen sink
-Container
-Spatula
-Computer
-Scissors

During the match, there was only a single yellow card for Yassine Bouhmadi, that had to stop the scissors from scoring but ended in penalty, it was strange for being only 1 yellow card
Minute 6: Penalty provoked by Bouhmadi, Piotr stops it but Scissors scored after Piotr couldn't do anything
Minute 22: The referee was in the area and accidentally changed the direction of the ball after a shot from Mandala, but it is goal, that's what the referee said
Minute 55: Kitchen Sink, with a powerful shot scored a great goal
Minute 88: Marien Poszcesz assisted to Reimanen, who scored with a header

Then on their final match, the apprentices defeated 4-2 Equestria, 4 yellow cards were given, 2 to each side, and 1 red card to the apprentices, very strange for a referee who "likes" to see this type of actions
Any yellow card to Equestria is optional for the opponent
The Starting XI only suffered two small change, Poszcesz for Calles and Nelson for Bin Tihan

Minute 11: y card for player.
Minute 15: another yellow card, but for Calles
Minute 20: Ahcalli Tepeototl has a red card after a harsh tackle to player, it is also a penalty converted by player. 0-1
Minute 35: another penalty, but for the apprentices after player committed a small foul, Echeverria scores, 1-1
Minute 50: yellow card for player, he made another penalty converted by Echeverria again, 2-1
Minute 65: player scores after a corner with a nice shot, 2-2
Minute 77: yellow card for player, in the free kick Bin Tihan accidentally scored, 3-2
Minute 85: Mandala with a shot outside of the box scored the 4-2

With this, the apprentices reached Round of 16, unexpected for a newcomer always, and even got second in most points of the tournament in group stage, Vassi and Chiasso attended the press conference
Vassi was asked how does he feel for having passed to the next stage:
"It is great to know, a team that has been getting higher and higher, we still have work to do but as a team, we are trying to learn"
He was asked his opinion of not playing the last two matches:
"It is part of a footballer's career, when the manager doesn't want you in the field, is because either you are doing something wrong, or it needs you recovered for next matches"
Finally, he was asked how does he see next opponents Juvencus
"No no, they are a hard team, we may have been leaders of group F but they will give battle, I am sure, obviously we want to win and we are representing the youth of a nation that believes in us, so I hope we can win, I wish them good luck and a great match"

Enricco Chiasso was asked about:
1- If he wasn't trusting anymore in Romanno:
"I trust on him, but he lacked of energy, I need him for the match against Juvencus, so I needed to put Böss as part of the starters, the boy has also done good, but definately I know which goalkeeper is defending the goal against Juvencus"
2- What senses does he have about the team:
"The boys have done it like I wanted, some start to learn, I feel comfortable with the team now, but I can't be it too much, we still have work, only playing like we have done we will win to our next opponents"
3- What does he think of Juvencus:
"Juventus? Oh Juvencus, not with T, sorry, their name makes me feel we are dealing with a great team, possibly the hardest one so far, and this is the knockout stage, so if we loose, we are out, and that's why my team won't surrender, but always, we have to be careful, they finished third in a very tough group, I have respect for them, but I know my players will battle with everything at the field"

The real question here is... Which nations are seeing victory today? Who are getting the bags done? Who will surprise? Who has the brighest future of soccer? We will see in Chromatika!
