Rise Tonight

Well, we've arrived in Chromatika, where we will face many opponents. Some are world-class, like Starblaydia or HUElavia, and some are new, like Hebitaka. All of them, have one thing in common, however: They will all be a challenge. We'll reflect on last cycle to see what could happen, and what to expect.

On MD1 last tournament, Hopal started out with a 2-0 victory against Equestria, which would be a good start for the former. Then, in Group E, you had Starblaydia lose against Cassadaigua, HUElavia draw against Mavinet and Sharktail lose against Krytenia! Whoo, not good results here. We, Megistos, to round out MD1, won 3-2 against Xanneria.

Next, on MD2, Hopal won 3-1 against Greater Vakolicci, HUElavia lost 1-0, Starblaydia won 1-0 and Sharktail had a bye. Megistos won 2-1 against Darmen. We'll skip to the end of the tables now.

At the end of the Group Stage, Hopal drew 3-3, Kohnhead won 5-2 against Baker Park, HUElavia lost 2-0, Starblaydia drew with Tequilo 1-apiece, Sharktail lost 1-0 and Megistos won against Lochario 1-0. Now let's take a look at based on the group stage last tournament, and what this could mean.

Prediction A:
Let's take a look at group placing, where it's inaccurate but still possible. Up first is Megistos, who would finish first with a 4-1-1 record, and then so on goes the teams.

Group E Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Megistos 6 4 1 1 9 6 +3 13
2 Kohnhead 6 4 2 0 15 9 +6 14
3 Starblaydia 6 3 2 1 10 6 +4 10
4 Hopal 6 3 1 2 10 7 +3 10
5 HUElavia 6 1 2 3 9 11 −2 5
6 Hebitaka
7 Sharktail 6 1 0 5 5 18 -13 3

Prediction B:
We'll go on points now, with Kohnhead taking the win on this one.

Group E Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Kohnhead 6 4 2 0 15 9 +6 14
2 Megistos 6 4 1 1 9 6 +3 13
3 Starblaydia 6 3 2 1 10 6 +4 10
4 Hopal 6 3 1 2 10 7 +3 10
5 HUElavia 6 1 2 3 9 11 −2 5
6 Sharktail 6 1 0 5 5 18 -13 3
7 Hebitaka

Prediction C:
We'll go on how far they got through the tournament, adding statistics as they go on.

Group E Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Megistos 9 5 1 3 15 13 +2 19
2 Kohnhead 7 4 2 1 18 12 +6 14
3 Starblaydia 7 3 2 2 12 9 +3 10
4 Hopal 7 3 1 3 13 10 +3 10
5 HUElavia 6 1 2 3 9 11 −2 5
6 Sharktail 6 1 0 5 5 18 -13 3
7 Hebitaka

As you can now predict, what will the tables look like? We'll figure out on the ride!

CHROMATICS
INVOLVING A MODIFICATION OF THE NORMAL SCALE BY THE USE OF ACCIDENTALS

Part 1/7: Word of the day - Yápa

People rightly associate lagniappe - a gratuity, a tip - with Santa Clares, The Big Queasy, on the south-eastern seaboard of Tequilo and renowned for its wonderful food, freestyle improv mariachi, macabre carnivals & ghoulish necrófagos; lagniappe comes from the Costelloan la ñapa, la yapa, la llapa with the same meaning. Ñapa, yapa, llapa in turn comes from Huayna yápa “something a little extra, a bonus,” in the Boneylinga “a tilly” (from Bonesea-Wightling tuilleadh “an additional item or amount”). Yápa is a derivative of the verb yapay “to give more.” Huayna is the language of the Plata-índigo Arataíno and their descendents, still vigorous and flourishing in south and central Tequilo.

Mani Quita, of the Huayna peoples, an unusual sort of number nine at Motozintla and starting forward for the Pitxileros-Juniors, the Young Footballers of the national team, might be described as eccentric, in circles outside of Tequilo. We Tequiloa would say he's just a bit extra. "Hey Mani! I saw you flip over the lid of that motor vehicle there, when it would have been easier to walk around. You're a bit extra, so you are Mani." What we mean is, he gives a little bit more. He is yápa. He flips over when most walk around.

In the philosophy of pitxi, or football to you and me, we might say the eccentric wheel is used to convert rotary into linear reciprocating motion to drive a sliding valve or pump ram.

No; no wait, I hear you cry: that is not pitxi - that is mechanical engineering. But the definition stands, according to the tactical plans of coach Juan Manuel Botín, where Mani Quita is the eccentric wheel; where wheeling is the transformation from facing forward to turning his back to goal; where reciprocating motion is the act of passing a moving ball to grateful recipients who once passed to you and moved on, and the conversion of rotary into linear reciprocating motion is that whereby the general motion of moving the ball around speculatively and somewhat indirectly concludes with a linear or direct pass; to drive a sliding valve - that would be the number ten, having received the linear pass, squeezing a dink in the narrow space betwixt the outstretched hand of the opposition goalkeeper and the upright combination of heavy gauge steel and aluminum that is the goalpost - or pump ram - where the number ten just pelts it with all their might. Here we have the eccentric link operator between the meandering midfield tiki-taka and the linear forward strike.

"I don't know about all that philosophy of mechanical engineering," says Mani, "and in any case it's more a definition than a philosophy - though, I suppose it would be fair to wonder, what is the definition of philosophy here and more pertinently what is the philosophy of this definition? Eccentric wheels within wheels, if we are not careful."

He is not known for carefulness, Mani Quita isn't. Rather and to the contrary, he might take risks, uncalculated. And here, to follow the insinuation of his previous thinking, since it may prove useful in the definition of Mani Quita - we might define risk first, and calculation thereafter. Risk, by common understanding, would be an enterprise with exposure to the chance of injury or loss; and uncalculated, to not determine by reasoning, common sense, or practical experience such exposure to injury or loss. In the act of conversion of rotary into linear reciprocating motion that we already agree is his eccentric inclination, this would suggest an instinctive turn of pass, bravery in the face of potential injury, a youthful lack of inhibition. Well we already know he is young, that's why he is on our list of people to talk about, why he is in Chromatika. What we might additionally glean is that he does not think so much, but acts; and in his acts, he is brave. Bravery in the act of conversion from rotary to linear play would likely take the form standing unexpectedly close to the opposition - within reach of them, thus risking contact and injury - and, or, to allow the ball to be revealed to the opposition - to also be within reach, thus risking loss or dispossession. But such risks, such bravery, are mitigated - one hopes - by his instinctive play, removing the process of thought and the requirement for temporal allocation toward decision-making; in Mani Quita's case, he is fast. Close, and fast.

What we mean is, Mani Quita gives a little bit more. He is yápa. He drops in where most bail out.

"I'm not sure," shrugs Mani, "I don't really think about it so much."

After the senior national team has established itself in the international competition, it is now time for the U-18s to leave their mark. They are also playing in the 4-3-3 of the national team to continue the federation's tactical philsosophy that is coached throughout all age classes.

Image
The same the fans of the senior team, the fans of the Owlets also deserve particular mentioning. Not only are they renowned for their chants, but they are also bringing the Thunder Clap (Click here for example) to the stadium, something that the players join in as a pre-game ritual that has left an impression on the opponents and opposing fans more than once (OOC: similar to the Haka of the New Zealand All Blacks). The players will form a triangle near the kick off circle and lift their arms, which the fans do as well. Then a long drum will start to signal the rhythm and both players and fans alike will move in unison, each clap accompanied with a loud cry, the claps (and cries) speeding up, creating an overwhelming sense of impending doom.

Captain Michelle Russo was sitting in her hotel room on the afternoon before the FIllies opening match, beginning to chat with her teammate Brianna Ward. The team was delighted to be in the Depri District and had just finished their practice for that evening.

“It’s so sad that Steffie could not make it back to this team this year. I still would love to kill that guy from Tequilo.” Russo said to Ward, remembering the fate of the team last time out. Michelle and Brianna were part of the team in the last U18 World Cup, but did not have the type of roles that they had this time.

“Yeah, I know what you mean. So glad we don’t have to play Tequilo this time. Because if we did, we might all get red cards.” Ward replied.

“Yeah, we’d go all Erica Lambert on them for sure. Who was your favorite player on the team in the last World Cup?” Russo asked.

“Oh, I don’t know. I should say a defender but I have to admit I really love Meghan Wolcott and all the swagger that she brings out on the field. Totally amazing, I must say. Yours?” Ward asked.

“Probably Rach….” (They are interrupted by a loud bang in the room next to them)

“What the hell….” (screams are heard from the room) They run out of the room, since the room next door was teammates Tara Kriedel and Nicole Morlock, only to see their teammates running out of the room at the same time. Very soon, a crowd gathers.

“Oh my, call maintenance now!” Michelle said but Tara had already done so, and the hotel maintenance staff was already on their way. Water was gushing out of the room. “What the hell happened?”

“I don’t know, the toilet just like, burst I, I don’t really know.” Tara said. She was also nervous that the marijuana she accidentally flushed down would be discovered. It would not be, Eventually, the toilet was fixed, but a few of them would have to change rooms due to the water on the floor and the musty smell.

Coach Hannah Shanley could only shake her head. Hopefully nothing worse would happen.

HUElavia comes with promise to the U18 WC!

Once again, HUElavia brings out a squad for the U18 World Cup, having a nice pool of players with strong promises for the future of the National Football Team. Looking to rebound after a Group Stage eliminated in U18 World Cup 10, the team comes with players that the HUElavian Football League touts that can be the future of the team and have good expectations for the players. The ones to watch is goalie Marin, defenders Di Donato and Ezwa, Midfielders Ocampo, Nazario, and Torrisi, and winger Sol.

The team is in Group E against Sharktail, Megistos, Starblaydia, Kohnhead, Hopal, and Hebitaka. The team hopes to play well at Mountain District, which will be at Felswyr, Z'ai'ai, and Ming, all high altitude places. Fans will flock to support these promising young talents and the hopes they can have a good showing for the tournament. The HFA hopes that the team will advance at least to the Round-of-16. Regardless, here's to hoping the team learns and trains well and has a good showing.

The Silvedanian U-18 team arrived at the stadium, ready for their match against Abanfleft. Recently during practice, however, Adeeb Davenport had sprained his leg. For the next three games, he will be replaced with Francisco Bannister.

Official Sports Radio Silvedania

"The match is scheduled to start right around 9 PST. This will be Silvedania's first time in the U18 WC, or in any large soccer tournament for that matter."

Silvedania, the majestic nation.
NS Stats are mostly accurate except for a few things, like this nation is capitalist and the death penalty isn't in effect

News:All trade with Crabaiaia and Pikala has stopped as diplomats meet in Trenaka. Silvedanians are confused by Quentin Tarantulatino's new film, Seasonal Snackbox(This is a Bojack Horseman reference.) Weird song goes viral for making no sense.

Danielle Harper steps in to replace former U18 bosses Zoe Montgomery and Darren Kirby, with veteran U21 boss Liam Sullivan assisting for her managerial debut. The squad returns 17 players from the previous edition played on home soil.

The team was travelling to Chromatika to achieve one thing: AT LEAST NOT BE HUMILLIATED IN THIS U-18 WORLD CUP
But Enricco Chiasso, had another objective, go with everything, win every single match his team could, and don't become conformist:
"We have travelled miles from our nation, to demonstrate that you all are the future of the national team, that you won't be just, promising players, but real players who play real football, we have to win what we can, never give up, and go for that cup even if it looks impossible, I am not a player, I am the manager, but no one should get conformist, because it ruins players, conformism ruins players, go for it!"
This were his words as the U-18 team got into the field at Rhoni Center, Rhoni, Chromatika, 1 P.M., and several fans waiting with anxiety the moment it would start, but Pierpaolo Alliscori did actually get nervous, so Johann-Peter Mandala did, both went into the bathroom and got there stuck 10 minutes
"Oh god, several people and even my family watching there, father will be disappointed if I don't play good" that was Mandala's thinkings

Starting XI:
-Piercarlo Romanno
-Ahcalli Tepeototl
-Bernardino Calles
-Anderson Velasco
-Pierpaolo Alliscori
-Marien Poszcesz
-Reiss Nelson
-Giuliano
-Abi Hamad Bin Tihan
-Andrés Vassi
-Johann-Peter Mandala

Just as the match started, Andrés Vassi got a "long-travelling ball" by Marien Poszcesz, who was surprisingly put in the Starting XI, minute 2, first goal for the U-18 team in major competitions, a strongly hit ball passing at the right of [goalkeeper]
Commentarists: Pablo LaFoil, Josue Molina
LaFoil: Calles passes to Poszcesz, now back to Calles, the team is playing slowly, wait... Calles to Poszcesz, look where is Vassi!
Molina: I smell goal here, he got in the kitchen, he is about to shoot
*Vassi scores*
LaFoil: GOAL!!! He shot very strong, the goalkeeper saw a Francesco Virgolini ball version!

Later, in the minute 20, a penalty is declared after a handball from [player] in the area, (Optional) and receives a yellow card, the penalty was converted by Vassi, again scoring
LaFoil: The team is going far more offensive, don't you think?
Molina: It is, because Chiasso always seeks victory, but I expected the team go defensive, maybe because it is not a strong opponent?
LaFoil: We were talking and didn't see Mandala trying to send the ball to Nelson at the area, they just have declared PE.NAL.TY. there is a handball
Molina: Oh, well, I think Vassi is going to convert it
LaFoil: Yep, [goalkeeper] prepares, here it goes, and... Goal! Vassi scored it and now has a "doublet" [goalkeeper] did know where was he shooting but at the lower part, it is definately impossible for goalkeepers to stop it

Finally, a third goal came at minute 88, the team was becoming ultradefensive, in a counterattack, after Romanno made a huge save, Giuliano, with his good dribbling, "sweeped" out the defense and just had to shot it, he unfortunately shot weak but still the goalkeeper got confused and didn't notice the ball was already inside the net, Giuliano got yellow card for celebrating without the shirt, and yet he didn't care
Molina: It is almost ending, time has almost run out, we are at 2 + what the referee wants to include
LaFoil: Watch out! Giuliano and Mandala are in a 2 vs 3, Giuliano continues! 2 vs 2, again! It is just the goalkeeper! Oh god, he shot horribly but ended in GOAL
Molina: That was a bear, totally, but goalkeepers and many other players can commit mistakes, Giuliano will have to improve his shooting

Coming soon: post match press conferences :>

Ryoviste 'keeping an eye on the youth players' as World Cup looms
by Antonov Vasiliev

It is no doubt that everyone in Twicetagria is looking forward to the upcoming World Cup 87. And with that comes even more hopes of a potential qualifying. But first, before we can qualify we need a good squad. And Ryoviste is doing exactly that.

"I think by scouting the youths we not only can we see if anyone is NT worthy, but we can also see the pros and cons of our current youth development domestically.

This comes after our U18s suffered a 5-2 loss against Sylestone in their first match in Chromatika. If you've lost interest in the AOCAF, join us in VSS Channel 3 as we air this show live on TV.

Good Start,what else?

That was a good start to the RTC U-18 World Cup in Chromatika. The Indussean Juniors defeats Tikariot in the first match for a score of 0-3. The match venued at The Hive in Deprí Sanar, Chromatika was a lucky and a great game for the juniors. The clear sky and the support of the fans hyped the juniors into a pack of ravagers who was trying not to hurt anyone. The Referee of the match was Garry Houser who was keenly interested in giving punishments into players.

Key Talks
As the U-18 World Cup gets on, the nation is looking on Goblin Grundjee who is the first ever non-human sportsperson from Indusse. The Grundjee's are one of the families of the Goblin species that was created by the scientists by DNA Modelling. The scientists created a new race of Goblins through gene editing and combining the DNAs of Humans with certain animals and Algae. The goblin species were divided into three families were Grundjees are one of the major part. The other two families are called Mithys and Auris. The current members of the grundjee family is Colonel Grundjee who is a Colonel in the royal army of Indusse. The gene of colonel Grundjee was created by merging the genes of three colonels of the army with the genes of a eagle and the green algae. The green algae plays a necessary role in getting the green Color of the skin. The other member is Goblin Grundjee who is currently playing for the juniors. His gene was created by merging the genes of David Bekem, a former football and of a wild horse. The green algae is also a necessary part of the composition. The grundjee family has the green composition of skins due to green algae. Whereas, Mithys has a brownish red skin due to the presence of Blue-green Algae with Iron sediments, Auris family has the skin Color of a normal human as there isn't any presence of algae. The skin textures and patterns of the goblins are same as the humans and the color is the only thing that can discriminate it with humans. The scientific community believe that the goblin race will create revolution in the world of science.

DURSEA U-18 2-2 JUVENCUS U-18

DISASTROUS START SAVED BY THE BELL

Image
Gli attaccantini managed to reverse sweep 2-0 Dursea lead a-la-gli attaccanti

Dursea XI:
Stats not found, nor were there any names on the jerseys of the players and will thus be addressed by their respective positions

Juvencus XI:
GK:Fernando Lopez
CB:Federico Funar(Yellow card, 33')
CB:Joaquim Santo(Subbed off for Gianmarco De Luca, 61')
CB:Ceferino Filippi
CDM:Félix Sissoko(Assist, 85')
CDM:Ronaldo Obando(Subbed off for Eleutério Bellomi, 80')
RM:Viorel Abascal
LM:Ferdinando Da Costa
RF:Giordano Acconci(Subbed off for Raymundo Tamboia, 73')
LF:Edu Coste(Goal, 85' assist, 68')
CF:Julio Campana(Goal, 68')

The toll of international football pressure has slowly clinged on to the younger generation of footballers, in an ever-emerging football scene in Juvencus and with the entire nation's eyes on them and their performance. With that pressure, gli attaccantini entered the field and for the first half of the game, the opposing side in Dursea, a relatively unknown nation in the football world, controlled the game and its pace. A lack of communication between the 2 midfielders meant the attacks weren't going through, something that the Dursea side capitalised on. In fact, during the first 5 minutes of the game a hungry Dursea side managed to score its first goal, when a rocket from the central attacking midfielder of the team around 25 yards outside the box caught Lopez off-guard. After that, the mentality of the gli attaccantini dropped even lower and as such, the Dursea side was able to dictate the speed and the pace of the game however they wanted, with an overwhelming possession of the ball (around 65-35 in favor of the Durseans). By the end of the first half, however, the gli attaccantini picked up the pace they're meant to pick up, a sweet dribble from Edu Coste found Julio Campana in a clear spot where he volleyed it to him, with the latter's shot hitting the crossbar. During the later minutes of the half, a harsh tackle by Funar was awarded with a yellow card and a foul from a very dangerous spot. However the foul taker's shot was saved by a Lopez leap. No chances followed and a such the first half ended in Juvencus losing 1-0.

Both teams entered the second half and they were out to take blood, the gli attaccantini went to the offensive first, with Coste's shot being saved by the Dursean goalkeeper. In the counter-attack, the Durseans once again found net, this time with an excellent cross from the Dursean winger, which found their striker's head. After that, it all seemed lost for the gli attaccantini, however they picked up their game very quick. A great possessive play followed and the pressure was now on the Dursean side. Unlike the senior team, they did not throw a barrage of chances as only a Campana shot followed in the 64th minute. A Dursea attack on the 67th minute was stopped by a save from Lopez and the counter-attack ensued, Sissoko crossed it to Coste, with the latter dribbling through a couple of the Dursean defenders and with a swift touch of the ball found Campana who knocked it in for the 2-1. The excellent partnership of Coste and Sissoko proved to be vital once again, as in the dying minutes of the game, another excellent Sissoko cross found Coste, and with a beautiful curved shot managed to find net for the equalizer, thus saving his team from dropping all the points available for the game. Next game is against the Grearish Union, in which the gli attaccantini will be looking to get their first win, if they hope to win the whole tournament.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF ABANHFLEFT
NATIONAL UNDER-18 ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM - MIXED

This is the twelfth time that Abanhfleft will be participating in an international under-18 football competition. After the absolute disaster that was the 6th Under-18 World Cup in the Free Republics, everything about the Fleftic under-18 team has been dismantled. Few if any players from the team that failed to make it out of the group stage of the previous tournament. The manager, long-time servant that he was and having led Abanhfleft to four out of five finals, has been sacked for ignoring the warning signs showing that this was a team beginning to fall apart. Anyone who returns from the previous Under-18 World Cup roster is either very lucky or very talented, talented enough to not warrant an exclusion from the team. Fresh new team, fresh start, right?

First On First

Kickoff at Frozen Stadium. 41F. 1 PM. Emmanuel Williams is referee. Whistle blows... Kickoff!

The game had begun freezing for the Megistians. Who the hell plays in freezing weather? A better temp. would be somewhere around the 70s. Of course, they couldn't choke, as this was the first game in Group E. They wanted to be the predator that they were last time.

The first chance fell to the Megistians, in the third minute. Ramakant made a mistake on the ball by trying to drag the ball away from the ultra-pressuring Lukovic, and Lukovic won the ball. As Ramakant and Fiji pressed Lukovic, Lukovic spotted Howard's run, and as he was getting pressured back, he flicked up the ball with the backspin already on it and it sailed high above the 2 opposition players and fell to Howard.

Howard would cut inside and slice a curler of a cross to Robertson, but the ball went higher than his head and went to Jorgenson, who headed the ball, but with the extra delay on a header, Verma was able to dive in to catch the flying ball.

The Hebitakans would then counter-attack quickly starting with Fresh, who lobbed it all the way to Choudhary, who was still on-side, thanks to McCaffrey. However, he was the farthest one up, and he tried to dribble past McCaffrey but the 18 year old blocked his routes, and when he went for goal with power, the ball only ended up in Blackwell's hands.

The Megistians would then keep control of the game to counter the opposition's attacking spirit, and this attacking spirit led to the first goal for the Megistians, on the 20th minute.

Quintero would spot Caliber making a run, but he had very little time till he was offside, so he blasted the ball where Caliber was pointing, and with Caliber's speed, he sped past Counter and received the ball. With no one on him yet, but players coming back, he faked the shot but passed to Robertson, who was supposed to be marked by Fresh and Hamtar but he came a little too late for them to notice. He then swiftly powered it in the bottom corner, far from the diving hands of Verma, and into the net, which put the Megistians up 1.

The La Spacia would not allow any chances to make a 1v1 for the opposition, as they were like a steel wall in those moments. However, they did concede fouls, and in the 26th minute the first yellow card was handed out to Avila, and gave Hebitaka the free-kick, just inches away from inside the box. It was a dangerous spot for a free-kick, one of Lukovic's or Jorgenson's range. Probably not Robertson, the latter would have it farther away and more of an angle. But still, it was scary for Leon, the Megistian coach, and Carls was going to be the one to take it. He shot... but the diving fingers of Blackwell would keep the ball out of the Megistian net, and Meadows would clear.

Megistos had bagged their second 20 minutes after the first goal, on a penalty. The captain, Jorgenson, dribbled up slowly, waiting for someone to pressure him, and then 4 players did. Luckily, he made it past all with fancy footwork and a pass to Avila and a pass back. He dribbled into the box but Fresh was pulling on his jersey and then slided him: in the box. You know what happened, red card to Fresh, penalty.

Robertson would be the one to take it, and he did his normal close to ground kneel in front of the ball at the start, took long steps, and slotted it in the left side of the net, which was where Verma went, but could not save it, and that penalty put Megistos 2 up.

The Megistians would go steel wall mode again, but the opposition got several attacks on them. First, on the 45th minute, Robins would spot Yuu on the wing and would pass to him, who crossed the ball in just moments before Quintero reached him, but Blackwell punched it away.

The second chance for the opposition would be when Ramakant found his way past Lukovic and Meadows with 1-2s, and cut inside, facing the third defender, Avila. Knowing that he might not get this good of a chance later in the game, he went for glory and shot high and going in the top corner, but he shot a little too high, and the ball sailed over the crossbar and over the net.

The third and final chance for the opposition would fall on the 71st minute, when Ramakant again found the way of the long ball to Robins, and Robins would flick the ball up to avoid Avila's tackle but when he went for the volley it went past Blackwell but it hit the crossbar and went in front of the other side of the goal, but Blackwell secured the ball in his hands.

The third and final attack of the afternoon for Megistos would be late in the game, on the 85th minute. Robertson had weaved his way between Hamtar and Fiji, and had spotted Lukovic's ask for the ball, since he was unmarked and just as close to the goal as Robertson was but unmarked, he gave it to him, and Verma came out and dived for the ball, but Lukovic chipped the ball over his diving body and into the net the ball went, for the third and final time of the game. And then the game ended.

The Megistia had been the predator this game, but this was only the predator's first hunt.

The Sarzonian Under 18 national football team that takes the pitch for its first match on the second matchday of the Under 18 World Cup may have many of the same personnel as the previous editions, but it will not be the same team.

For starters, Diogo Avarel is out as Baby Stars manager. He left the Sarzonian football programme entirely after he was passed up for the senior national team managerial position that went to Nicola Mentes. Under 21 national team manager Nathan Hanifer accepted a role as assistant manager for the senior team.

Avarel's top assistant Tim Lankford stepped into the role as manager, but since his focus is on defence, he has remade the Baby Stars in his image. Gone is the 3-5-2 formation unique among Sarzonian national teams, in favour of the traditional 4-4-2. The flair Avarel preferred is also gone, being replaced by more grit.

Some of that is by design for a man who grew up in the Sarzonian football system. However, Lankford also pointed out that forward Kristine Lynam aged out as she turned 19 before the start of training.

"She was really what made Diogo's offence work," Lankford said. "It doesn't make sense to use a system that doesn't fit the personnel."

Joining the starting 11 in defence will be Von Page, a gender non-conforming player who developed extremely close ties with reserve defender Ben DiSoto and Ben's brother Kenny. Ben DiSoto said he was more excited for Page than he would've been had he joined the starting 11.

"They really put in the work and they fit the 4-4-2 perfectly," Ben DiSoto said. "Kenny and I are going to push hard and work toward getting in the starting 11."

They may get opportunities to earn significant minutes. The Baby Stars already had their bye on Matchday 1, so they will play their six matches in the group stage consecutively. The team open with Icecliff at The Hive in Deprí Sanar before the trip to The Hawk's Nest in Deprí Lanar for a tilt with Tikariot. They will battle Terre Septentrionale at Warrior's Arena in Knetyohai on Matchday 4, where they also take on Cassadaigua on Matchday 7. They return to The Hive for Matchday 5 against Bleronia before returning to The Hawk's Nest to battle Indusse.

"This isn't going to be easy," Lankford said. "Ee may need our entire squad for this tournament."

Saint-Domingue 2–0 Poafmersia: Dream Start for Little Avengers on Competitive Debut
HT 1-0

Image

Playing in a venue known as the Tidal Wave, the under-18s of Saint-Domingue successfully saw off the storm without breaking a sweat. Leconig did not spring any suprises in his lineup for the opening match, with the coach relying on his trusted 4-3-3 formation and the typical personnel that have been utilised as preparations for the tournament have gone on.

It was a cagey start for both teams, characterised by some sloppy passes and frequent concessions of possession. Such nerves were understandable, given that this was the first appearance of any Dominguan team on the multiversal stage. Saint-Domingue began to grow into the match after about a quarter of an hour, with Toussaint Papillon looking imperious as he shielded the defence and won a series of impressive tackles to give his team possession. After one of these challenges, a quick transition led to Fuentes spraying an ball out wide for Vásquez down the right, who was in space. A simple cutback towards the edge of the area found Allard, who delivered a fine finish into the bottom-left corner.

After the first goal things became more open, with Kazadi narrowly heading over a corner and Durand having to be alert to claim some very dangerous crosses towards the back post. A loose ball fell in the box to a Poafmersian player on the stroke of half-time but the threat was quickly snuffed out by Jérôme Thiam.

Saint-Domingue dominated much of the second-half, maintaining possession and passing the ball about neatly. The Poafmersian defence remained stern however, and the Dominguans struggled for creativity. Augustin lashed a fierce shot wide and Vásquez had a tame shot saved at the near post, but otherwise the Little Avengers struggled to unlock a disciplined defence, and were left passing the ball around near the 18-yard box without particularly threatening.

Leconig made a change with about 20 minutes to go, a tactical gamble which arguably could have risked costing his team the win. Taking off Vásquez for Demba Seck, the centre-half, the coach shuffled his team into a 5-3-2 formation. Saint-Domingue retreated into their own half but carefully maintained their shape, allowing their opponents to push forwards more frequently and relying upon the pace of Jacques Moise on the break. The decision ultimately paid off, when a firm kick downfield from landed at Moise's feet. Stretching the defence with his direct running, the forward - recently having made his debut for Les Cayes - was able to tee up Alvaro Rosario who finished neatly. At 2-0 Saint-Domingue's lead looked insurmountable, and the defence comfortably saw the game out.

All the sounds out of the Saint-Dominguan camp had thus far been positive, with the young players seeming to enjoy the past couple of days that they spent in town of Tihon, and for whom many this would be their first ever trip overseas. A moderately-sized seaside town in the north of Urrhed Island, Tihon is perhaps best known for its picturesque beaches. This proved familiar surroundings for much of the squad who had grown up in Saint-Domingue's coastal towns and villages, and the mood of the team was reported to be at ease as the young players took the chance to explore their new surroundings, mingle with locals, and take part in some surfing prior to their match. Leconig's emphasis on a relaxed atmopshere within the camp appears to have paid off, with his young squad putting in a fine performance that the whole country can be proud of.

Nenah Checo is an intern working for the Revista FueGO! magazine, assigned to Hispinas' Under-18 team who flew to Chromatika for their Under-18 World Cup campaign. Most of her senior colleagues are in Tikariot and Graintfjall to cover the senior squad's Copa Rushmori campaign. Upon arrival in the Heartland District where they will play their group stage matches, they have come to know that they will have a bye day in the first set of matches in Group D, and with three matches being played in three different stadiums, the coaching staff were deciding whether they'd spend their time polishing their set pieces and formations, or to divide aming the team and scout all of their group stage opponents. They decided on the latter, and manager Marguerita Morea decided she will attend the match involving their next opponents, Mavinet.

Before the match in Anfanhar where dark clouds were looming, Nenah had an opportunity to ask some questions to the manager, as part of her task to get her thoughts on the team and Hispinian football in general.
Q: How are your preparations for this tournament?
A: It's going well! Unlike the senior team, we took the defensive drills seriously, I want to instill discipline into these young players as this is the time when we can still influence their playing style. I don't want them to grow without knowing a single bit of defensive work on them.

Q: Wow, that's a strong and stingy answer. How do you see this team progress as the matches go on?
A: I think we can build up on whatever results we can get. We have six matches in the group stages, they have three. Whatever they do, they will most likely to play fewer matches than us. There will be little to no chance of growth there and they might need to wait for the World Cup qualifiers to further grow the squad.

Q: Where do you see your team after the group stage?
A: Realistically I am seeing the team go out in the group stages. We have Mavinet and Abanhfleft in our group and we have a total of 7 teams in the group. Only two, possibly three will advance from it, and we currently don't see ourselves occupying the top two. I'm a person that looks more on the realistic side of things, unlike that person that spews bullshit about not underestimating their team when they even failed to organize a friendly prior to their tournament.

Q: Let's go to the statement from Iago Escobar, the consultant for the national football teams. He said that a professional competition is to be organized en route to professionalize football here in Hispinas.
A: I support his statement actually, though I reckon that we won't be able to be competitive until after five to seven years where we should be able to compete with other footballing nations. We have the resources and support from various companies to do so, we just need to avoid red tape and corruption within the sporting realm.

Q: What's your say about the Basketball team's performance at the IBC at Graintfjall?
A: I'd say I'm impressed they won six games of ten. They definitely impressed the nation and we hope to do the same for the Under-18s. Not sure though to Mr. Spooky and his senior squad.

Q: Is there anyone from your squad who could be called up soon to the senior team as the World Cup qualifiers loom?
A: I'd rather not single out any player and have them play for the Under-21 team first. Maybe wait for that geezer to be sacked first before allowing them to play for the senior team perhaps?

Q: Do you have any plans on being the manager of the senior squad?
A: Not yet. I don't want to succeed that moron in the senior squad. It's like opening a can of worms and cleaning up shit when I take over. I'm happy cultivating my players to grow for the next couple of years or more.

"Wow, Ms. Marga. Those were such strong words. I'll try to send the transcript to my seniors and see whether they'll be fine with it." Nenah smiled gleefully at Marga. "Well, I do not expect them to release the whole transcript. They are a media company and they want to skim much information as possible to make the teams look good in the sights of the Hispinos and Hispinas."

"I'll take note of that."

After sending the transcript as well as the article on the Under-18 team, her senior called her via phone.

"Nenah, sorry, I may need to have many revisions to the article. The transcript can be used, but we cannot use or release all the information there. Hope you understand. Good job though."

"Yes, boss, I fully expected it to be revised heavily. Good night."

Terre Septentrionale beats Bleronia

Knetyohai, Chromatika - On matchday one, Terre Septentrionale played against an unknown nation, Bleronia, and barely beat them. The final score was 3-2 for the Nordiques. The weather was really hot compared to our weather in wiinter here in Terre Septentrionale. It was 14,5 °C, or 58 ° F. Bleronia attacked at the 19th minute when Player #9 passed to Player #10 who was dribbling with the ball just outside the penalty area. He was tackled by Krzysztof Orzechowski. It's a yellow card for Orzechowski and a free kick for Bleronia. Player #9 kicks the ball and it's in, they're leading 1-0. Terre Septentrionale attacked at the 26th minute when Nathaniel Poisson-Descheneaux passed to Anne-Frédérique Bellefleur-Deschamps who dribbled with the ball and passed to Włodzimierz Walaszczyk who was bout to kick the ball when he was tackled by Player #4. It's a yellow card and a free kick. Krešimir Grujević-Komšić takes the kick, he kicks the ball and it's a goal! The game is tied at 1-1 and funnily both goals were scored on free kicks. The referree, Eddy Marx, looked pretty much strict, I don't think these two actions deserved a card. Maybe just a free kick. Anyway, the score was still 1-1 at the halftime.

Bleronia's Player #6 passed the ball to Player #8 who dribbled and made a header pass to Player #11 in the penalty area. Émile Buisson-Deshaies shoves Player #11 and catches the ball with his hands. The goalkeeper gets a yellow card and it's a penalty. Player #11 takes the penalty, he shoots and he scores. Bleronia is leading 2-1. The Reprezentacja Nordycki attacked at the 74th minute when Krešimir Grujević-Komšić passed to Włodzimierz Walaszczyk who dribbled and made a short pass to Anastazja Jedrzejewicz who kicks the ball and it's a goal. The game is tied at 2-2, and finally a goal that isn't scored on a penalty or a free kick! Bleronia attacked at the 86th minute when Player #7 passed to Player #11 who kicks the ball. The ball touches Krzysztof Orzechowski's arm in the penalty area, it's his second yellow card of the game and he's been sent off. It's another penalty for Bleronia, Player #11 kicks the ball but the ball goes over the net and the score stays at 2-2. It's a goal kick for Terre Septentrionale, Émile Buisson-Deshaies kicks the ball, Włodzimierz Walaszczyk jumps to get the ball and Player #13 pushes him at the same moment. It's a yellow card for Player #13 and guess what? A free kick! Krešimir Grujević-Komšić takes the free kick but instead of kicking the ball to the goal, he makes a short pass to Anastazja Jedrzejewicz who kicks it and it's another goal for Terre Septentrionale! the score is 3-2 and this is the final score.

BOXSCORE

19th minute: Player #9 (free kick)
26th minute: Krešimir Grujević-Komšić (free kick)
51st minute: Player #11 (penalty)
74th minute: Anastazja Jedrzejewicz assisted by Włodzimierz Walaszczyk
87th minute: Anastazja Jedrzejewicz (free kick)

26th minute: Player #4
40th minute: Léina-Anne Bellefleur-Deschamps
51st minute: Émile Buisson-Deshaies

87th minute: Player #13

RED CARDS

86th minute: Krzysztof Orzechowski

Group C

Terre Septentrionale is in group C against Sarzonia, Cassadaigua, Tikariot, Indusse and newcomers Icecliff and Bleronia. It's safe to say the Northmen will finish somewhere between the 1st and the 6th place in this group. On matchday 1, the Fillies lost 4-2 against Icecliff and Indusse beat tikariot 3-0 while Sarzonia had a bye. Some surprising results I would say. On matchday 2, Cassadaigua will play against Tikariot, both of them will be eager to win after losing on matchday one. Sarzonia will play against Icecliff and, more importantly, Terre Septentrionale will face Indusse. Krzysztof Orzechowski will be suspended for having two yellow cards in the same game and he'll be replaced with 16 years old Zlatan Kukuruzović who will make his international debut. The rest of the starting XI will be the same.

Edging past Sannyamathland

GRU: (23', 45+2', 89' Evans, 77' Deacon)
SAN: (3', 19', 68' unidentified)
Referee: Isaac Constanzo
PoM: Charlotte Evans

The Black Dolphin Cubs got off to a nervy start in the 12th RTC U-18 World Cup being held in in the lovely nation of Chromatika, as they nudged past the Sannyamathland challenge in a close 4-3 encounter. Nothing of note was known about the Sannyamathland national U18 squad: not even the names of their players, let alone the captain. It was probably this mysterious X factor that led to the Grearish cubs being taken aback by the unexpectedness of the opening tie (coupled with first-match nerves), thus managing to create a scare out of a match that should have been much easier if the paperwork was to be believed. Sannyamathland got into an early lead at 3' when a cross from the right hand side wasn't dealt with well by the young cubs, with Booth misjudging the timing of the cross and Andrews goofing up her outing which would've nullified the prospect of a Sannyamathland goal. Yet, there we were, with the opposition leading 1-0 within the first 5 minutes. The lead was increased as the opposition strikers kept asking questions of the Grearish defence time and time again. Danger couldn't be averted in the 19th minute when a long-ranged effort rattled the back of Andrews' goal. 2-0 to Sannyamathland. The lack of adversary-specific planning was clearly showing. The good news was that the cubs managed to find a way back soon, with Evans slotting in the header from a Davies corner. There were shouts of handball from the defenders on the occasion, but the referee Isaac Constanzo stood firm by his decision, and as was found out later, correctly so. The cubs slowly started to find their feet as their share in the possession kept growing by the minute. The passes became more fluid, and the attacking moves packed more venom than before. Just before the whistle blew, Evans found a through ball from the Chua, and she made no mistake in lobbing it over the keeper in a 1v1 situation. Added time was now over, and the Grearish were heading into the dressing room with rejuvenated energy. Play restarted to see the cubs get struck by a wonderful Sannyamathland move from the left, comprising of a string of wall-passes ending in a simple tap-in. The clock read 68' and Sannyamathland were 3-2 up. The game needed something special from the Grearish side to change the outcome. In an unexpected move, the manager, Laura Parry surprised one and all with a couple of quick tactical substitutions: King (in) for Chua (out) and Mott (in) for Casson (out). For the tactically inclined, this meant a shift to a 4-2-1-3 formation, with a trident at the top comprising of Mott, Evans and the skipper, Deacon, while King was the main supply-line that linked the midfield and the attack. Possession percentages went down, but the number of chances created went up drastically. A more direct form of Grearish football was probably unthinkable to the Sannyamathland team, who had obviously not prepared for it. They made a few substitutions, although it couldn't be made out a to who was being subbed in or out for whom. The period of Grearish domination culminated in the Deacon goal after Coles found Mott with an overhead lob, who graciously laid it up for Deacon, who made no mistake to level the scores in the 77th minute. The game seemed down to the wire, but the opposition's tiring defence made one final mistake on the edge of the box to give Charlotte Evans a chance to score from a direct freekick, and boy did she score! A U18 World Cup hattrick, and a nail-biting Grearish win. Happy days! The next game is against a Juvencus side who have had a 2-2 finish against Dursea U18s recently. Campana and Coste have found the net for them, and are believed to be crucial in the Grearish clash.

SHARKTAIL POST EP31
CARROL OPTIMIST SHARKTAIL U18 CAN PAST THE GROUP STAGE

Sharktail U18 manager Carrol stated that the squad is ready to face the RTC 12 competition which will take place at Chromatik. Despite being aware of the challenges that Sharktail will face, he hopes the focus will continue to be emphasized by his players. Speaking to Kota Sultan Post, he expects a combination of new and old players to be able to give light to this team.

"This team will be able to challenge other teams. Everyone is aware that the label of choice or non-choice team does not guarantee anything. Do not think popular teams have a good chance and small teams will only be thrashing teams. Equal opportunity for all teams."

When asked to comment on Sharktail's performance in the last competition, Carrol did not deny the team's failure but it was not the end. "Players, coaches, supporters are all disappointed with our performance in the last edition. So this time we want to be stronger. We continue to work every day to ensure the best for this team. I take responsibility for the failure of the last edition. We promise to do our best this time. "

Carrol and the U18 Sharktail squad arrived at the Chromatik Mountain District yesterday and started their first training session this morning. Sharktail will start the campaign against Megistos in the second match followed by Starblaydia. Huelavia and Kohnhead await the Sharktail for the third and fourth matches before the hopal for the fifth. Sharktail will end the group stage against Hebitaka. Go Wi Go Sharktail.

In the run-up to the opening match of the Sharktail U18 against Megistos, Fuad Awn urged all players not to take this match lightly. "This is our first match. I know there are some new players joining the squad for the first time. However, I want them to forget all those things and focus. Mistakes and negligence can have a detrimental effect on this team. We will try our best to get 3 points today."

U18 Squad gets a Solid Draw in Opening Match!

HUElavia U18 2–2 Kohnhead U18
(Sol 10', Ocampo 75' | REDACTED 38', REDACTED 83')
(Jewel Dome, Ming)

HUElavia's U18 Football Team began on a strong showing against Kohnhead for Matchday 1 in Group E. The match was played at the Jewel Dome in Ming, with a sizable HUElavian crowd present to support the youngsters. The match opened off with a goal in the 10th minute, when a cross by Torrisi went into the box, where Sol chested the ball down and blasted it past REDACTED to make it 1-0. Although, in the 38th minute, a free kick taken by REDACTED went over the wall and past Marin to tie it at 1-1. At half-time, the score was 1-1, with the team feeling they can do better. Eventually, in the 75th minute, a pass from substitute Girault allowed Ocampo to give a low shot to slide past REDACTED into the goal to make it 2-1. This lead was relatively short lived, as a corner in the 83rd minute had REDACTED take the kick, only for REDACTED to tower over Rodionovna to head it past Marin to make it 2-2. Despite some attacks from HUElavia, it was not enough, as the referee blew her whistle to end the game 2-2, with HUElavians somewhat satified for the draw on their opening game.

The next match will be against Hopal, as they will play at Frozen Stadium (32,100) in Felswyr. Hopal comes off a surprising 1-0 victory over group favorites and traditional senior team powerhouse Starblaydia. A mix of A-Team and B-Team players will be on the field, with Bohdanovych being the starting goalie for the match, and Di Donato serving as Captain. HUElavians will come to the stadium looking to cheer on the team and hope that the youngsters can get their first victory in the tournament. All the team can do is train and prepare, while the fans will hope and pray for a favorable result.

FORCA HUELAVIA! VAMOS HUELAVIA! GO HUELAVIA!

Loss for the young guns

The Young Under 18 team of the Hebitaka played their first game against the Megistos in group E. The game went against the Hebitaki as they gained three goals and lost the game bitterly. Two goals from Robertson and one from Lukovic gave the big score of 3-0 to the Megistos. This puts down Hebitaka to the bottom of the table. The Young guns though have the way to go as there are still 5 more games to go for the team. The next game of the team is against Starblaydia. Starblaydia has a loss of 0-1 from Hopal in their first game bringing them to the 6th position just above Hebitaka.

The Hebitaki team with a loss in their first game is looking for the Victory in the next game. If the expected loss, or even a draw happens, it is going to put a huge pressure in the Hebitaka team for qualification. The Young guns must push themselves up for their next game, and work Extra hard for a good victory covering up their loss against the Megistos.
