Taeshan WCoH 41 Host Bid

IC Info: Taeshan has long been a part of Hockey in the NS World, but after the hockey federation's paperwork all sadly went up in flames after the great incident of (redacted), much like the Baseball, and Basketball federation's they began a period of inactivity in international sport outside of the Olympics. Recently due to the success of the Taeshan Hockey League in the Hockey Champions' League, most notably Reynea Monsoons, the National team returned to the international hockey scene, and while they have yet to make a return to playoffs of this illustrious tournament they sure have won a few games.

Nestled in Northeast Rushmore, Taeshan is an island range with the most anti tropical climate known to rushmore with a notable absence of warmth, thus Taeshan being a hockey power was expected in early international sporting days for the country. With only a lone Olympic Gold medal, and various other lesser successes Taeshan sees the World Cup of Hockey 41 as a chance to allow us to re-introduce ourselves.

OOC: Info, the User behind Taeshan has hosted many events over their 13 odd years in NS Sport, including a Copa Rushmori, a Cup of Harmony, A Sporting World Cup, and most recently a Quidditch World Cup and World Volleyball Expo. Taeshan also has one of the longest running active club sporting scorination histories , and only missing a few years within the almost 80 years of club football, and of course a rather successful Hockey League.

Format: Taeshan would prefer (with signups currently at 40) a 48 or 56 team tournament with 8 groups teams. Other group amounts will be considered depending on where signups find themselves in the next week or so. Cut off times would usually be between 7-9 at night Eastern US time. Time frame will depend on voting time frame, and would preferably be starting in early November. Playoffs would be formatted that the top 2 teams would make it out of an 8 Group format, with differ group amounts leading to play in games among second place teams.

The Group Stage would be a double round robin home and home stage. This would be followed by a playoff stage. Any play in games would be one off playoffs, followed by a 16 team double elimination Tournament. All teams will be ranked for the initial playoffs with a winner's a loser's bracket determined by these seeds.

Scorination will be done through xkoranate within the Ice Hockey event. SQIS formula will be used with modifiers ranging from +5 to -5. The tournament Group Stage will give 2 Points for a Win, 1 for a Tie, and 0 for a loss. The Group stage will have the Tie as an option, and only from the playoffs on will games be decided with the 10 minute overtimes, follow by a Shoo-out. The final will follow the final of Kelssek's 39th World Cup proposal and be a continuous overtime situation until a Game winning goal is scored (if applicable).

I was planning on doing daily scorination as a time mechanism in this format. I realize in other tournaments such as the World Cup we've started to adapt, but my format would be a daily scorination with certain days off depending on start date and overall schedule.

Also the tournament will be a true double elimination so the loser's bracket winner would have to win twice to "eliminate" the winner's bracket winner. Having a one off after multiple rounds of double elimination kind of defeats the point of double elimination in my head.
