Sporting News Kalactin Releases Preseason Top 5 Recruits

1. Justin Peterson, DE, 6-6, 286
Just to be clear, this kid is a monster. Justin Peterson cracks number one on the Kalactanian top recruits, an almost unanimous decision from polls across the nation. Hailing from Gesmondton, a small city near Byron Bay, Justin Peterson is an athletic monster that has a large arsenal of pass rush moves, and also can break through to stop runs. Peterson has not announced where he will commit yet, and is interested in committing to a school outside of Northwest Kalactin. His pure athleticism alone will make him a top recruit, and his pass rushing skill makes him one of the best players to ever come from the nation. He also has some of the best on-field vision as a defensive end. Peterson will be a hard kid for a school to snatch up, but whoever gets him will have a hard task for opponents to handle.

Keith Gray, WR, 5-9, 170
A small, speedy wide receiver from Gold Coast, Keith Gray is an athletic force that has some of the best moves in Kalactin. He is a very shifty player that has enough speed to be a kick returner, along with enough skill to be a slot receiver. He is one of the strongest players for his height, and is rumored to have out lifted multiple Linebackers from the Gold Coast area. He was clocked in at a 4.27 40 yard dash at a regional combine, and is the most agile player in his receiver class. He is very willing to play internationally, although requires that he is promised a full 4-year guaranteed scholarship before he commits to any school, verbally or signing with them.

John Foster, QB, 6-3, 205
What do you measure quarterback success with? Is it championships? Most yards? Perhaps touchdowns? Well John Foster can claim to be a leader in any of those 3 categories, and many more. Foster is a cocky, big arm quarterback out of Ballina East High School. You may think, “okay Ballina, will this kid just commit to Northwest Ballina?” Nope. Foster has hated Northwest Ballina since he was a small child, and is one of the smartest high schoolers you will come across in the nation. Foster is a quarterback that puts up huge stats, putting up 5,267 yards, 57 touchdowns and 1 interception his final year. He is looking to commit internationally, and is looking at many NSCF schools.

Sean Gonzalez, S, 6-1, 200
One of the hardest hitting safeties in Kalactanian high school, Sean Gonzalez is a force to be reckoned with in the deep end of the defense. He led his entire conference in tackles this year as a safety, and has enough strength to be a linebacker. His off the field issues can be a rough point though, although he has pledged to limit his issues in the future. Gonzalez is a very talented player, and can play pretty much any position on the field with ease. He is best as a deep safety in a 1 safety formation, although has the freedom to play both safety positions. He can also become a linebacker is he puts on a but of weight, but his best bet is to be a deep safety.

Jonathan Robinson, RT, 6-7, 290
Arguably the best offensive lineman from his class, Johnathan Robinson comes in at the number 5 spot on the list of Kalactanian recruits. He is primarily a right tackle, although has the flexibility to play on both sides of the line. He racked up a record number of pancake blocks in his conference this year, and had the second most overall in the nation. Robinson is hard to get past, and his large size just adds to that, as he has a lot of muscle and height. Putting up one of the highest bench press scores, racking 225 31 times, Robinson is a very string player. Some say that he can squat over 700 pounds, although this is unconfirmed. What is also scary about him is his speed, he managed one of the best 40 yard dash times for his position at a 5.27, one of the fastest scores out up by a lineman.

Reborn from Ashes, Felswyr

In the first minute and a half of Felswyr State University gridiron football history, nothing went right. Cara Setri guessed wrong on two plays, Mi-Hyeon Park missed a tackle, and Aubergine-Bark Sports School scored in that minute and a half.

However, as soon as Sarai Gwenderyn took to the field with the strange, no-halfback offense, the school from Kriegiersien was lost.

Gwenderyn completed 36 out of 46 passes for 371 yards and three touchdowns, Mickey Jottle added 42 yards on 7 carries, and Sara McAllister was perfect (3 for 3 on extra points, 6 for 6 on field goals) as the Firehawks cruised to a 39-7 victory in their home opener.

On the defensive side, Mi-Hyeon Park led the charge with fourteen tackles, while Jill Lia and Lara Jun had a sack and a half apiece. The Firehawks' 3-3-5 gave the Toughies fits, and though the Firehawks weren't able to generate a turnover, the Toughies never reached the Firehawk side of the fifty after that initial drive.

The only facet of concern for the Firehawks were the six field goals. They reached within the Toughies' thirty eight times and were only able to cash in on two opportunities. Edge blitzes from the strong side seemed to cause some trouble for Gwenderyn, hurrying some of her throws. The Firehawks went 11-for-18 on third down conversions.

Nellie Katt had a quiet game - she only punted once, near the end of the match.

The next match will see the Firehawks travel to Megistos to take on New Paradise University, who lost to the Cavsar University Gladiators by a score of 24-10.

Big Blue wins by 10 9 over Saugeny
Excerpt from http://www.xtrasports.tv

SAUGENY - Albiet with a few hiccups, the Xannerian Polytechnic Institutes Football program came out swinging in the first game of the Woodlands Conference football action. a 160 yrd performance by DeMarcus Levette and a 87 yrd performance by Wingback Leroy Gerrity saw the team dominate in every way but on defense. Levettes 167 yard were complimented by three of the five tds the Big Blue scored as 325 yrds of rushing were gained on the ground along with 105 in the air by Big Blue QB, this was helped by the lovely defense of the Big Blue who had their issues in giving up three TDs in the air, but overall kept the Saugeny Fighting Irish behind the eight ball on most of the games plays. Linebacker Max Bown had a trifecta of sacks and an interception off of a tipped ball in the third quarter. The Special teams was lead by kicker Wyat Gownvasser who went an awkward 4/5 on Extra Point attempts. The lone gaffe came after the team received what was deemed an excessive celebration penalty. This sent the team further back on the extra point and Gownvasser slipped and kicked a duck into the hands of the Fighting Irish upback who returned it but would be called out at the 42 yrd line and the play whistled dead.

EXPERT PREDICTIONS

Image

1. Upper Plymouth Redbirds
2. Dursten Panthers
3. Delano Bulldogs
4. Eastern Delano Captains
5. Suderland Pioneers
6. Delano Tech Broncos
7. UPU-Harswood Tigers
8. Bearingstown Saints

OPOTY: Jaquim Barrow (WR) - Dursten
DPOTY: Qasim Law (DE) - Delano
Top Recruit: James Belk (RB) - Upper Plymouth

Upper Plymouth continues to be the dominant force in the league, QB John Collins again looks to solidify another great season, and in the pound the ball down your throat style of football common in the Great Eastern, Archie WIlhoit will pound the ball harder. Dursten has the lead WR duo in the conference in Jaqueem Barrow and Lloyd Hacker who combined for 27tds last year. Delano is in a rebuild year but watch out for the DE Qasim Law, he lead the league with 14 sacks last year. Easter Delano themselves has a wonderful DE in Hakim Maqissi. 8 sacks last year shows promise, but he stock is rising. Suderland didn't reach their 9 wins like they wanted, but they got QB Bryse Osgood as he throw 30 tds last year. Delano Tech has a new coach with Mike Watford, can he turn around the Broncos after a couple of dismal years at the end of Steven Pfiffers reign? Can the Tigers of UPU-Harswood rebound from the disaterous 2 win season? If so QB Lance Falcon will have to do his best at being a duel threat. Bearingstown could pull out of the dismal mess they are in if they can only get more defensive help. Recruit CB Skyla Voigt, could be just that!

That went as well as expected

Byron Joseph throws a pass in Kohnhead City University's NSCF debut

You could hear it on opening media day with Head Coach Milton Donnelly, why did we have to go up against Cold Hill University in our opening match? Why did our experimental defense have to be tasked with stopping Deondre Rhine the best quarterback in week 1 before we had ever played in a real NSCF match? The Big Eight is in the hands of the teams from Ranoria and Kohnhead City University are years off from challenging for anything close to that yet.

How is a completely run oriented team supposed to operate down 30 points a majority of the time against an amazing defense? Joseph actually looked a lot better in the pass game than expected with quick short routes in mind as his longest pass went 12 yards in the air and it seemed to work as they actually got no sacks. The problem with this was we would go on long drives that in the end would stall out and accomplish nothing. The offense puts a lot of emphasis on the yac ability of the receivers and Joseph would go 12/17 passing for 105 yards, no touchdowns, with 1 pick. Edwards our leading receiver had 3 catches for 39 yards.

In terms of the backbone of the offense the run game really struggled but if you consider the circumstances. Joseph isn't able to break open a defense with his arm so Cold Hill would stack the box and basically daring Joseph to throw it over the top... he didn't. Joseph carried the ball 12 times for 88 yards and a score but that is very inflated from a brillant 57 yard scramble for a touchdown on a broken play that showed off how athletically skilled he truly is. Whitworth would get 11 carries for 39 yards, Potter got 10 on 4 carries. Jack Nevill on 3 carries scored the other touchdown from 7 yards out for a total on 10 yards the ground. Again all this yardage realy doesn't matter if we can't score and when the defense gives up 54 points.

There's really nothing they could have done, the defense Lyons is trying to implement takes time and practice neither of which Deondre Rhine will help with as he completely decimated the defense for over 400 yards and 6 touchdowns through the air.

Next week we travel to Northwest Ballina College in Northwest Kalactin who beat Eirīkssonia University by 1 point in a 73 point thriller that went down to the wire. This is a much more winnable matchup and will be a better indication of where the offense and defense really are at and what our chances are in the Big EIght this year.

The Bolts are Back!
A statement opening for the Bolts as they kick off their season with their largest win yet, 54-10 over Chan UST
SHARE THIS:
Gnaeus Tanicius Vopiscus (@Gnaeus Tanicius Vopiscus)(TH)
Gamish 44, 605AE 11:00 AM | Vaumort, Anthor

Vaumort, Anthor(Herald) — Bowerstone boys, and girls, welcome back to our favorite time of the year! The Bolts have returned for the 22nd annual edition of the most elite collegiate gridiron program in the multiverse, and the buzz of the conversation around this team is that it is starting quarterback Dirk Wallace's final year with the team before he goes pro; can he continue his remarkable performance from the last two seasons and solidify himself as the potential first overall round pick in the AGL Draft next year, and can the Bolts cash in with playoff success if he does?
The Bolts heard all of you buzzing, and if their initial answer is a mark to be judged by, we're in for a ride, as the Bolts opened their season by welcoming conference debutant Chan UST to the harsh environment of the NSCF by trouncing them with a team record win, 54-10 and while the team as a whole shined with promise for the new year, Dirk Wallace definitely has begun to set the tone by throwing for 403 yards, 4 touchdowns and not a single interception.

You can tell that whatever offseason drilling the team did, it looks like it had its intended effect as Wallace and the stars on the offense clicked all game long; Phillip King became the first Bolt to rush for 200+ yards in a season opener, and this was also the first time that the Bolts had two backs both rush for more then 100 yards and both score; Gareth Lamont continues to remain the darkhorse star as the fullback rushed for 118 yards and 2 touchdowns, while King racked up 209 yards and a single score. Yann Delano, David Brasher, and Florence Hyram each had five plus catches, though Delano led the day with a total of 9 catches on 13 targets and was clearly Wallace's favorite throughout the entirety of the game as he was the second part in many of their largest offensive plays, including as 65-yard bomb that turned into their second scoring possession in the first half, though James Priestly was also heavily involved on the receiving end and was used many a times as the Chan linebackers failed to adequately cover him when he broke off the line after an initial block and remained open near the sideline or under the wideouts.

How the Bolts offense executed is a perfect example of their playbook for this entire season; offensive coordinator Aldric Meyrick has been open with his adjustments over the offseason, especially once the conference schedules were published as both he and George Nevin agreed that they "needed to bring Wallace and the rest of the talent to the next level" - and certainly it will be needed, as the two games against Chan UST are possibly the only "easy" games on their schedule; they will have to face perennial dynasties such as Mar Sara and Raynor which will be a first for Bowerstone as the two teams have shifted out of their traditional conference, and they will also have to face traditional conference heavyweights Thereisnogodistan and Ceneisis Naval Academy. Nevins made it clear that they expect to win against both of their traditional opponents, highly confident that with Wallace's arm and the threat his options in the receiving corp provide, as well as with the deep pool of talented backs they have the weapons to mix up the rythym of play, control the pace, and dominate on the offense side of the ball to set the tone for their defense to hold the fort down. They've emphasized heavily on pressing the rush and pass often and quick and being more mobile with their linebackers who need to excel in both pressuring the quarterback, but also covering the ball. I think key formations for Nevin is going to be the I-formation, it has been the staple of his offense's for the entirety of his career and his plays with it have been wildly successful, as when they are able to use the athleticism of King and Lamont to establish a dominant run performance, they are then able to execute large numbers of roll-outs or play action which often turn into explosive plays.

If the offense keeps firing, it will also be expected for the defense to step up and step up big; they were a Top 8 unit last season and they must remain at that for worst, but really Alf Ramsey's unit has to step up and be able to execute during big games, such as those with Mar Sara and Raynor, and be able to remain competitive in the face of some of the best performers in the multiverse. Key performers are going to mostly come from the linebacker unit which stands to shoulder most of the stress under the revamped system that will see heavy emphasis placed on heavy rushes from the line while the linebackers are split between coverage in Cover 1 and 2 like scenario's or protecting against quick passes and dumps.

Warriors open NSCF with a win, hit the road for week 2
Teresa Bramlage
Daily News Football Writer

The Ryan Benton NSCF era opened up with a comfortable 41-16 victory over Mineral Conference newcomers Castle Hall University from Nagore, in front of 45,815 at Gleason Field. It marks the fifth straight time the Warriors have come out on top in their home opener in NSCF.

They now prepare for a second visit to Terre Septentrionale to face Universite de la Catherine du Nord at Stade Louis-Philip Bobineau in Prevost.

The Patriotes will be looking to get back on track after dropping their season opener against Terrestrial Acclimation Academy, 29-16; the third conference matchup saw University of Space defeat the other newcomer, Squidroidia Armed Forces Academy, 33-9.

UC advanced to the semi-finals for the first time last campaign, falling to Cold Hill. While the Warriors have a senior oriented lineup, most of the experience from the 13-3 squad is gone, while they returners are still coming to grips with the changes in offensive and defensive schemes.

Against the Chargers from Nagore, UC looked more like the four time defending Conference champions than the team that went 6-6 in the UAC last season. The offense put together it's best performance since Benton took over, gaining nearly 500 yards of offense while converting on all 4 trips into the red zone with touchdowns. Both quarterbacks, junior Brandon Bullins and sophmore Donald Key, got playing time, allowing the staff to get a good comparative look under similar conditions. Bullins ran for 82 yards and passed for 144, while Key picked up 75 on the ground and threw for 121.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL SATURDAY

Welcome to College Football Saturday.

To say that the start of the Mineral Conference campaign for the SAFA Squidbreak was bad was an understatement. After losing the first Mineral game of the season against the Astronauts of the Academy of Space 33-9 in the vast unknown of the Extraterrestrial Dome of Sport, the Squidbreak went down to Earth to play their home opener at the Squidroidia Armed Forces Park. With quarterback Zlatan Agnellini back on the surface, the squid is now ready to begin his campaign for real - No planetary shenanigans against Castle Hall.

30,000 people turned up for the Mineral Conference showdown between the 2 teams - Although 30,000 may be small for college gridiron football the game was sold out, as the SAF Park held 30,000 seats for everyone to watch the Squidbreak. It's Squidroidian tradition that collegiate gridiron football is played on Saturdays, even though that collides with the Squidroidian football season. Nevertheless, the season would kick off for real. And at the end of the day? The Chargers were blown out.

CASTLE HILL | 7 | 14 | 0 | 7 | 28
SQUIDBREAK | 14 | 17 | 13 | 7 | 51

Okay, being blown out was a lie. The Squidbreak won by 23 points, or almost 3 scores. But the Squidbreak were incredibly consistent in scoring 2 touchdowns a quarter until the 4th - When they only scored one before running out the clock. Hell, Flynn De Laurentis missed an extra point in the third and got a field goal in the 2nd, of course right before halftime. Comparing this to the Astronauts game is like 2 sides of the same coin.

On one side, frustration, agony.

On the other, sheer domination on the gridiron when it mattered.

Again, it wasn't a total blowout, but the game was decided in the 3rd quarter, when Kendrick and Smedley got themselves their 2nd TDs of the day, Kendrick's first being on the opening drive (The 2nd of the quarter being Van Dael) and Smedley's as the first of the 2nd quarter (Before Huddelston actually ran for a pick-6). The next 3 TDs? Kendrick, Hermansson and Stein Bell. When all was set and done, Agnellini racked up 3 passing touchdowns, while Hendrick alone had 3 rushing TDs.

Elsewhere in the Mineral:

  • La Université de la Catherine du Nord win a nailbiter against the Commonwealth Warriors,
  • And the Astronauts win a defensive slugfest 10-6 against Terrestrial Acclimation to start the season 2-0.

Mokti Dikot, the Northern Moravica starting quarterback, watching film the Monday after the Salamantics Game

"And this interception, Mokti, was the worst one of all." The Quarterbacks coach had said. Mokti Dikot, dutifully taking notes, watched the play. It, indeed, was an ugly interception. The Salamantics Universities defense had dominated him. 13-25, 144 yards, 3 interceptions. All three in Professors territory, two of them caught in the end zone for a touchback. This particular interception was the one that had sealed the deal, as Northern were trying to mount a furious comeback, on the road, late in the game against their Ko-orenite rivals.

Dikot had dropped back on the play, scanning the field, looking straight as his #1 receiver, Kalen Rhodes. "You see here." Said the Quarterbacks Coach. "You tracked your eyes on Rhodes. Your eyes did not leave Rhodes the entire play- and he was never open. Mauza-, no Mauzault? You know his name- Mauzalterinden, had eyes on you the entire play." And Dikot watched himself on the television, he could see the QB coach was right. His eyes were all on Rhodes. The safety had slid over and when the ball was released was able to break on the football and get the interception with a minute left. Northern had all their timeouts left, but A pair of 7 yard runs by the Salamantics running backs got the first down necessary to kill the clock, and send the fans onto the field.

"Mokti. You're better than that performance." The QB coach said.

"Coach, I was seeing ghosts out there." Dikot said. "They were in the backfield on every play!" And that was true. The Salamantics Universities are known for their ability to get pressure, but their front 7 put on an absolute masterclass against the 5 time Celestia Conference champions. THey were seemingly in the backfield on every play. They got double digit pressures, and double digit QB hits, including the 4 sacks that they got onto Dikot. And even on the occasions where Dikot wasn't picking himself up off the turf, the pressure they had brought, and the different looks they disguised them under, clearly hampered the Northern offense. Even when there wasn't pressure- Dikot would get throws out a step too early, or could hear footsteps.

After the QB film session, they went to the general film session. Things that the head coach wanted the entire team to see together, rather than just the position groups. The coach went through Northern Moravica's opening kick return touchdown- the touchdown they had ran back 99 yards, on the opening kickoff. The touchdown that generated such early excitement and momentum, and yet, Sutay Danso's return had turned out to be the only points of the game for the Cougars. They went over the pair of red zone turnovers- how those interceptions were a combination of poor route running, bad throws, and pressure allowed by the offensive line.

Then, Lance Kabuye spoke again. "We have a lot of things to clean up, here." He told the team. "Now, there were bright spots. Our defense was excellent. We allowed 10 points, yes- but that should be enough to win a game. But it wasn't on this occasion. We have a long season in a tough conference though. We have a week to clean things up against Civitas Soria, before Loyola-Istria strolls into town. We can't be thinking about our rivals just yet though- Civitas Soria is certainly a good enough team to beat us if we let our guard down. Nothing is promised to us at this level."

And that got Dikot thinking. It was true- nothing was promised at this level. And he looked up at the poster of Chae Heung-Kim, the Quebecois quarterback who had famously broken all sorts of Northern Moravica passing records, and brought the school to their first and only NSCF title. He had to look over his own shoulder. Although he was highly touted, last season was a disappointing one for him and his school. He had chosen to go to Northern- everybody at Northern, for better or for worse, in the NSCF era was always viewed and judged by one thing- how they did against their archrival.

There's nothing that got Northern Moravica fans going than Loyola-Istria surpassing them in the NSCF. While the two schools were dominant for a long time at the national level, and have both been excellent at the NSCF level, nobody could reasonably argue that Loyola hadn't made even more of a success out of the NSCF adventures than Northern Moravica has. Was it healthy or sane to only view yourself in the light of a 3 time NSCF champion, who were also your hated archrivals? Probably not. But was anything sane about college football? No, and that's why everybody loved it.

Dikot knew that, following this opening loss, the pressure would be on. Their goals were still in front of them- a sixth Celestia conference title for the Cougars was not impossible because of one loss. But they'd need to beat Loyola in 2 weeks. And while the coach preached about Civitas Sorias, Dikot knew this- lose at home for the second year in a row to Loyola, and the voices clamoring for Wagner-Young, the blue chip Ranorian QB prospect who was his backup, would grow ever louder.

Those were whispers that he could do without hearing. And so Dikot went to the practice field, as motivated as ever. His mind was on this upcoming week, but the looming rivalry would be where he could really raise himself in the eyes of Northern fans...

Run of the Mill for Cold Hill, Richardson Slips Up in Upset

Image
Starting linebacker Travis Jenner was part of a pass-rushing unit that was completely stumped for the second straight week despite high expectations

What's new for the Buffalo? At 2-0, they just handed Akers their second loss of the season in a matchup of offensive powerhouses. It was a tight contest for most of the game, with Splinter Woodson's unit outpacing with Rhine's for most of the game. The latter managed to avoid turning the ball over for the second straight week, certainly an accomplishment after starting last season with five interceptions in the first two outings.Deondre Rhine had been held to a single touchdown pass by late in the third quarter, as the Capitals keyed in on the passing game, with runners John Judge and Deion James having been completely ineffective with their limited opportunities. This helped establish a 26-23 lead for Akers State.

So who was the spark to ignite the comeback but redshirt freshman Brannon Hillis? Hillis was Ranoria's #3 recruit two seasons ago, but has struggled with injuries, possibly due to his smaller frame. Regardless, he got four carries in his first NSCF drive, and made them count, with twelve yards on the first three followed by a seventeen yard dash with a spin and a hurdle sprinkled in.

Image
Brannon Hillis flashed his versatility and playmaking ability in the Buffalo win. Will an intriguing debut be enough to get a starting nod next week?

Quickly, the Capitals had to at least respect the Buffalo's ability to run, and Chris Dale, predictably, went to play action. Deondre Rhine may have lacked a marquee target, but Darian Millin, a senior who transferred from another air raid team in Ranoria State, came open and got a step on cornerback Greg Flores. The ball was slightly underthrown, but Flores, coming from behind, was unable to drag Millin back to keep him out of the end zone. The thirty one yard score changed the complexion of the game, with Cold Hill now taking a lead, 30-26, and the Capitals were unable to recover.

Cold Hill's pass rush, as last week, was stagnant, as Hughe Brown notched the only sack of the day in the first quarter. As such, Splinter Woodson was able to get a nice drive going, and it looked like he might just get the lead back after making pinpoint throws, hitting his pass catchers in stride to allow them to rack up yards after the catch. Unfortunately, a check down followed by two straight incompletions led to a long field goal that would land, harmlessly, in the end zone, with eleven minutes left in the fourth quarter by now.

With Brannon Hillis playing well, Chris Dale gave the young man a few opportunities, featuring four carries on the next drive as well, to the tune of fifteen yards. Once the team drove into the red zone, mostly on the back of quick, high percentage completions, he opened up the playbook a bit, motioning Hillis out into the slot. The Buffalo's other two backs had rarely been used in this manner, and never been targeted, but Hillis ran his route well and managed to snag a touchdown on a post route. Now up 37-26, Cold Hill had a comfortable lead. Woodson would pick up another couple first downs, but the drive stalled out, and Akers still had all their timeouts. In a bold move, they trusted their defense to get the ball back from Deondre Rhine, and it paid off.

Rhine, who hit nine different targets on the 300 yard passing day, managed to pick up just one first down on a thirty yard completion before punting the ball back to the Capitals. They boldly drove down the field, burning a pair of timeouts in the process, and were eventually forced into a fourth down, and thus kicking another field goal, praying for a successful onside kick to follow.

It was not to be, however. Safety Agnor Viridian came right over the top, hurdling the longsnapper and blocking the kick before he fell onto the football to secure the win for his Buffalo, who would take two kneels to end the exciting showdown. This Akers State squad has been competitive now with both of Ranoria's top-notch schools. Don't expect them to stay down for long. By the looks of things, this conference is going to come down to the wire.

After a surprisingly strong week one performance, Beacon Murray performed about as well as could be expected

Eirīkssonia came in against Richardson keying the run, employing various blitzes and the like against Kuenda Sello, who would still finish the game with 97 rushing yards on 26 carries. Head coach Richard Steinheil appeared flustered throughout the contest, struggling with poor play calling against a good defensive game plan, but not an unbeatable one with the talent Richardson has. Rather than improvise, he continually relied on vanilla, power runs in 11 and 12 personnel. As a matter of fact, six of Sello’s carries came inside the five yard line. Despite his nose for the end zone, he was stifled there, garnering just 4 yards on those totes, and failing to score, resulting in two turnovers on downs.

Richardson’s lone touchdown would in the fourth quarter courtesy of Beacon Murray, who found senior Jackson Austin on an eleven yard corner route. At 6’6”, 260 pounds, it almost wasn’t fair. Richardson’s defense held strong, notching their fifth sack of the game to force a three and out and give themselves a chance to win it late. That sack came from Clancy Gluber, who came on a delayed blitz and was unblocked. That at least made it a game at 13-10.

However, after burning half of the remaining time off the clock driving the field,Murray would toss an interception to ice the ballgame. Richard Steinheil, in a post game interview, would place this one squarely on his own shoulders, and to an extent he is correct. The team didn’t show out against Eirīkssonia, with a basic game plan. Worse yet, the coaching staff didn’t show any ability to improvise. No adjustments were made by this team throughout the game, as if they expected the ship to right itself.

That said, little fault can be placed on the defense, who pitched a shutout through the first half and racked up five sacks, two coming from Malik Sherman, and one each coming from Spencer Crutchfield and Gudbrand Taurus on the interior. And, excitingly, Makang Secka notched his first interception of the season.

This defensive line is the strongest unit on this team without a doubt. Malik Sherman is an All-Ranorian defensive end, and Spencer Crutchfield can boast the same on the inside. Meanwhile, redshirt freshmen Gudbrand Taurus at defensive tackle and Robin James at end represent the number one and two recruits two years ago, an amazing feat. Taurus is the epitome of strength, where James is an elite speed rusher. And of course, true freshman end Carlos Schmidt finished the domestic season with seven sacks, the number five overall recruit last season. Backing them up is a frustrated Devin River, a well above average edge defender buried in the depth chart.

The defense will do its part, that much we know. Can the offense say the same?

Django Reeves, #10 Recruit in Ranoria
Memphis Barbell Company Ltd.

He knew his coach had good intentions. A grunt, iron jerked up from the floor before he caught the barbell in a perfect power clean.

They pushed as hard as most of the team would allow without quitting. But he couldn't let himself stop there. Like he always told that same coach, do what everyone else is doing, and you'll go where everyone else is going. His team, having slipped to 3-1, couldn't afford their star tight end and linebacker to give anything less than everything.

Reeves dropped the weight, sweat pouring down his face, and gasped as his legs struggled to support his weight. He desperately tried to suck in the air around him, lungs protesting the hell he was putting himself through to get better. He gave up the futile effort of standing soon enough, falling to a sitting position and leaning against the wall as his shoulders continued to heave. His phone began to beep just then, and he chuckled. He had finished his morning lift just in time to get to shower and get to school. Briefly, his eyes wandered to the unfinished homework due at the end of the day, sticking out of his backpack.

"I've got bigger fish to fry," he muttered. With that, the six foot three, two hundred and twenty pound menace stood, albeit shakily, to clean his weights and leave the room.

"What, just two hours and twenty seven minutes today?" The owner of the place chuckled, "You must have woke up late."

Django laughed nervously and rubbed the back of his head, "Yeah, I slept in a few minutes, had to rush my workout just a bit. But I managed to get through it."

"Don't run yourself ragged, kid," the older man nodded, shooing the high schooler along, "We don't want you peaking in high school."

This time, the five-star recruit offered a genuine chuckle as he left, thinking back to the piles and piles of full ride scholarship offers he had lying at home from Ranorian schools. "Oh, I don't think we have to worry about that one bit."

Northwest Ballina Wins, Akers Loses
That title has seemed to be the story of NSCF so far for the Kalactanian squads. Classically, Akers has always been the strongest school out of the 2, however this year, Northwest Ballina seems to be putting up better results.

Obviously, Akers has played a much tougher schedule these past few weeks, with the 2 rigorous Ranorian schools to play, and lost by 11 to both teams. Akers lost 37-26 against Cold Hill, which is considered the strongest of the 2 Ranorian schools.

Splinter Woodson, the Ranorian quarterback for Akers, put up considerably good games against his schools from his home nation, which included eclipsing 300 yards in the match against Cold Hill.

These 2 Ranorian schools will not be easy opponents at all for the Kalactanian teams, and both Cold Hill and Richardson could be roadblocks that prevent them from making it into the playoffs this year.

We play in what might be toughest conference out of the entire College Football spectrum, the Big 8, which for some reason has 6 teams. Those 6 teams however, are not easy ones to beat, and will stay that way, as new competitors in Kohnhead City and the old power Eriksonnia rise up.

Right now, Cold Hill and Northwest Ballina both sit up in front of the conference, and if these 2 schools stay like this, it will be a hell of an offensive battle to grab the top spot.

Even though they are 0-2, don’t rule out Akers yet. They played some of the top teams in the entire world of College Football, including possibly the toughest away from home, and held them to close margins in both games.

Akers will play Eriksonnia University in their next game, who Northwest Ballina was able to beat back in week 1 by just 1 point. We think that we should win this game, although it will be a close, offensive shootout.

On the other hand, Northwest Ballina has their first big test of the season, where they will play the Ranorian power Richardson University, who managed to lose to Eriksonnia, in a stunner 14-10 loss. We place Northwest Ballina as slight underdogs, but it will be a close one we think.

In fact, if Northwest Ballina is able to overpower the Richardson defense, then we think they have a great shot at winning the game. Richardson, despite great success, has always had a relatively weak offense, and that may be their kryptonite in a game against a high powered offense.

Megistos

For the first two games of the Felswyr State University Firehawks' NSCF history, their opponents have not been able to figure out the 3 WR, 2 TE formation being used by Sarai Gwenderyn and the offense for more than a quarter at a time.

After hanging 39 points in the home opener against Aubergine-Park Sports School, the FSU Firehawks were dominant once again as they raced ahead to a 14-3 halftime lead and never looked back to a 28-3 victory on the road at New Paradise University.

In the First Quarter, both teams were able to move the ball for small increments, but not able to get any long drives going. There were some drops by some FSU receivers that led to drives being stalled, and Nellie Katt was called on to do what she does best, pinning the Megistos side inside their twenty-five multiple times. Then, Megistos cracked the FSU side of the fifty via a pass of thirty-five yards, which led to the field goal.

After that, the Firehawks started to roll. Sarai Gwenderyn completed 24 of 34 passes for 259 yards and two touchdowns, while Charles Mettre was the star with a catch and a punt return for a touchdown. In the fourth quarter, Gwenderyn added a fifty-one yard scamper to seal the deal.

Next up is the hardest opponent in the conference - Sadeg State University. The Skyhawks have been a mainstay for many iterations, and are 2-0 after a 45-23 victory over Surrey Perimeter College and a 41-21 victory over Cavsar University.

The Skyhawks have scored an average of 43 points per game while conceding 22 points per game. The Firehawks, on the other hand, have scored 33 points a game while conceding only 5. Will the 3-3-5 hold against Sadeg State and their shotgun offense? Will the FSU offense be able to exploit the middle of the Skyhawk defense? Gwenderyn must beware of the pass rush and not throw too many deep balls to their shutdown corners.

First stern test. Will FSU be a serious threat to Sadeg State?

Magical start for Salamantic

A new chapter is added to the book of the Salamantic Universities. Not a very long read as of yet, but chapter three is of a much lighter tone than the previous two. No longer the newbies, no longer the challengers, but a force to be reckoned with in the Celestia Conference. A team that can finally balance out the Banijan powerhouses on a good day. And a good day was had, with the Professors getting a winning record over Northern Moravica (3-2) with a 10-7 win.

A good game by the team all around, which still relies on slowing the tempo down as much as the referees allow, getting the clock to 0:00 as soon as possible, and frustrating whenever possible. Less time spent on plays means that Northern Moravica can't score as often. Opposing quarterback Mokti Dikot was a decent help as well, tossing 13 completions on 25 attempts and giving the ball away three times. The final one came with just minutes on the clock, sealing the game right then and there. He had one final drive which stalled, then went nowhere with the ball intercepted on a deep shot into the Salamantic endzone.

It all looked like it wasn't the purple's day when Danso returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown. 7-0, with the game not even under way. It motivated the team even more with both units agreeing that that was that. Juldhauthaunden went 20 from 25 himself, tossing for 195 yards to yMaellceoff, Lindeberg, Yowarie, and six other targets. Even the left tackle, Ravel Brahe, got in on the action with a short 3-yard trick play enough to convert a 3rd-and-2. The biggest day of all was for Gaé Leloup, normally the backup to Suzukaze, rushing for 114 yards including 14 yards at the end of the game on two back-to-back plays to run out the clock for the win. Suzukaze himself rushed for 34 yards in the first half, but didn't return because of a hip injury.

Basically, the team is clicking, the new pieces are in place, and we're in for a hell of season.

Right after this is the first game against Loyola, a team that has the Professors' number. So far, we are 1-4 against them, and that includes a 20-17 semifinal loss. Not only a loss that gets us 1-4 instead of 2-3 (and therefore in overtakeable territory), but also letting our conference rivals get to the NSCF final. Loyola would even go on to win that game, securing their third overall title and moving to 3-1 in NSCF finals.

And when it's not Loyola, it's Northern Moravica. 1-1 in the final and also with a worse record versus us, we consider them Loyola's smaller brother - weird to say of a team that has already made the title game twice. In fact, we'd have to go back to NSCF 16 to find the first final that didn't involve a Banijan team. When the Professors were put in the Celestia conference, they weren't lying when they said that they'd have to do a lot of work. Celestia really has gone from a laughingstock to the place to be in a few years, has it?

We'd also have to go back to NSCF 18 to find a final that wasn't Banija versus Ranoria, actually. Cold Hill twice, Richardson once, and before that it was Banija versus Valanora's Mar Sara Tech - and would you look at that, Valanora and Ranoria have their teams snug and comfortable in the Big Eight. It's no surprise that Sporting News Kalactin have put these two conferences atop its power rankings (followed by Horizon, Zypher, Mineral, and Woodlands, in that order). Valanora has since moved to a different conference, as you'll see.

Horizon
Of Sadeg State fame, the Horizon conference is propped up almost exclusively by Drawkland's two programmes. Them and Cavsar, though we have never run into the latter. Some promising programmes fill the rest of the conference but it remains to be seen whether they'll shoot to the top as quickly as Salamantic has. Felswyr is probably the most notable among them - they can give any team a run for their money.

Zypher
A relatively unknown conference to us, Valanora had its teams placed here. With Mar Sara and Raynor in here, that's enough to make any conference into a powerhouse. It did split the insane Ranoria-Valanora bloc, unfortuately, giving us fewer top games through the regular season but it does increase both nations' teams' chances to get into the postseason. Ceneisis and Bowerstone are here too, which in my opinion puts them above Horizon but to each their own.

Mineral
Long spearheaded by Space's Academy of Space Astronauts (of no relation to the Noordrug Astronauts), this arguably is the conference we tip to improve most of all over the next two to three years. Baker Park's Commonwealth Warriors, Nagore's Castle Hall, Terre Septentrionale's Patriotes (who have already made more than a name for themselves), and Squidroidia's Armed Forces Academy - all six teams have a shot here, and all six should still be here and much improved in a few years' time.

Woodlands
Placed last, but still with some household names and up-and-coming teams, is the Woodlands. Quebec's Saguenay and St Croix (and especially the former, in my opinion) are the big ones here, with Xannerian Polytechnical as outsiders. Ravencroft and Provolone have a lot of room for growth, too.

With the Elven teams out, what makes the Big Eight so good now?

Big Eight
Ranoria solely brings this conference its deserved hype. Richardson and Cold Hill are two of the top four (or so) teams, together with the Banijan programmes. Eirikssonia and Kohnhead's Mighty Eagles might give them trouble in some time, with big outsiders in Northwest Kalactin's two rosters involved as well. Remember who made the power rankings? Now we know why the Kalactinians put their own teams so high up.

Rockets Take Off

It is a new season in the NSCF and the pair of Vanorian universities that participate in the competition have seen a change of scenery, moving away from the Big Eight Conference and have instead landed in the Zephyr Conference. On the surface, this change of conferences looks to provide both Raynor University and Mar Sara Tech with an increased odds of competing in postseason play, as they get away from a stacked conference that had two of the top ten teams in the NSCF in that conference in the form of Cold Hill and Richardson from Ranoria. While there was some pundits at home who believed that the conference was not as difficult as the Rockets and Raiders were saying it was during their deliberations with the commissioner when requesting the conference change, the numbers speak for themselves, with the universities missing out on post season play more often than they were in it. Bar Mar Sara Tech's miracle run a few years back, it was situation that was far from favorable situation for the Rockets and Raiders to find themselves in, constantly having to fight uphill at any chance of even getting to 0.500 and being post season eligible.

Instead of the Ranorian dominance of the Big Eight, our two sides will be attempting to disrupt the Fleftic dominance of the Zephyr, with Ceneisis having won several conference titles and is already looking to impose their will on the conference having started two and oh already. It is a tough task, but one that looks to be in the Vanorian teams' wheelhouse if they are able to get their act together and produce a small bit of consistency. However Bowerstone of Anthor has also had a great start to their season, having two wins from two like Ceneisis has, having even gone into Mar Sara and pulled off an upset of the Raiders, which will leave the Mar Sara team fuming. At least the Rockets opening game loss was on the road to Ceneisis and in an overtime bout no less, showing that the Rockets are ready to take on the imposing challenge of the Zephyr head on and be able to hold their own. If the first two games of the season are anything to go by, this is shaping up to be a conference season that will be a four horse race and it is far too early to see any team as having an edge to getting the conference crown.

Mar Sara's opening victory at Thereisnogodistan saw the Raiders play into a system that their hosts were not expecting, as the Raiders typically play in an air raid style offense, diming and dinking their way down the field. However with a freshman starting at quarterback, head coach Sander Ivarsson knew that he needed to rely on his biggest strength on the offense and instead designed the entire game plan around Kiggwe Chasima and the redshirt junior did not disappoint at all. With an all senior offensive line with plenty of experience, the running back was rushing all over the opposition, and twice broke off forty plus yard touchdown runs. Mixing pace with a bit of power, after Ivarsson asked the running back to put on some muscle during the offseason, Chasima was able to complete dominate game and lead the Raiders to a road victory to start off the season, finishing with a hundred sixty-three yards and three touchdowns in the thirty to twenty-four victory. Arquímedes Concepción also got his first passing touchdown for the team in the second quarter, converting a third and goal from the five pass to Romeo Sundström, while Tobias Jakobsen added a safety, coming off a corner blitz when the Raiders had pinned Thereisnogodistan at their two with a magnificent punt.

After their bitterly close defeat in the first game of the season, the Rockets were gearing up to show that they were just as capable as their countrymen as they prepared to take on Chan University of Sport and Technology from The Jovannic. The team had studied the gamefilm from Bowerstone's victory over CUST from the previous week and noticed their poor secondary, which would be a terrible matchup for CUST against RU's prolific wide receiver core. All three starting receivers ended the game with a catching touchdown, with Chinweuba Jelan catching two scoring the first and last touchdowns of the day. Sophmore Håkon Schau showed composure and was able to easily scan the field and pick his targets at ease, ending with six passing touchdowns as he also found tight end Kasper Aksnes and running back Aleksander Aas for scores, ending with over four hundred yards through the air and the six scores. Aas also added a hundred fourteen yards on the ground and a rushing score. In the end, the overpowered CUST team was decimated in the capital, as the Rockets ended a fifty-four to seven victors, bouncing back quite emphatically from their overtime defeat.

Both teams now travel this week, with Mar Sara heading to CUST and looking to be the third team in a row to pour the misery onto the Jovannic squad, with Bowerstone also having put over fifty points on the squad. With plenty of footage to feed off on with the Rockets victory, one would have to favor the Raiders to find a quite comfortable win and get their season moving towards that postseason berth. Meanwhile the Rockets will be taking on Thereisnogodistan and are likely to be quite confident as well about their chances to come out of the matchup with another win to their record. One might speculate that the two Vanorian schools might share game footage so that they both have that extra amount of preparation heading into the gameweek. After all, odds say that a team is far more likely to make the postseason if they start two and one rather than have two losses through their first three games. The squads changed conferences for better postseason prospects, it is up to them to now go earn those and not make it see as if their arguments were baseless.

That went a little bit better

Ezekial Edwards has been our best receiver

The Northwest Ballina College 33–13 Kohnhead City University

That's a better result, as opposed to a 37 point loss we only lost to 20 as when not playing the best college quarterback in the multiverse our defense is just below average. Now of course this loss isn't just on the defense as the offense only scored 13 as Joseph's struggles as a passer become more and more apparent. Northwest Ballina had done their research and came prepared to stop our short and quick passing game which seemed to frusterate Joseph and we compiled 202 yards most of which were on the ground.

It's clear our running game is pretty good as it should be it's just our passing game is completely stagnant. However there were some seeds to build in particular Edwards' 27 yard touchdown which saw Joseph throw a pretty ball that hit him in stride (pictured above), that was one of two touchdowns as Herman Whitworth took a 17 yard pitch to the house. Overall this was not a match we should have won but it's good to see some progress from the defense.

Next week we host Akers the other college from Northwest Kalactin who also sit at 0-2 (see below) although they've played tough opponents in both Ranorian schools and have looked better against them both. They will also be motivated because they sit at 0-2 yet it will be our home opener so the time for an upset is ripe. The offense will need to score more if we want to do that though especially with how the defense is playing.

Kohnhead City University seal deal with KSPN
Kohnhead City, Kohnhead

After a tense two months of negotionations, KSPN (Kohnhead Sports Performing Network) has offically signed a 3 year deal with Kohnhead City University to air all of their NSCF matches for the next three seasons in what will be a huge boost to the school and sport in Kohnhead. KSPN clearly wanted these rights more than the next closest competitor in Kohnhead Sports Broadcasting and it was obvious if TV rights were going to be reached it was going to be through KSPN.

The last 2 weeks have seen negotiations ramp up as the season did start very recently as both sides wanted a deal done to get the max number of games in possible. The first game shown will see Akers University from Northwest Kalactin travel to Chicken King Stadium to take on our 0-2 Mighty Eagles.

Wallace Leads the Thunder against the Raiders, Bolts win 16-6
A tough back and forth game was broken open with a second half rally by Wallace as he scored 14 unanswered points with the help of

Vaumort, Anthor(Herald) — This morning I'm sure many of you are feeling the woes of celebrating as we cheered in a thrilling victory that was the creation of Dirk Wallace as his arm helped carry Bowerstone to a victory over the Mar Sara Raiders 16-6, 14 of those points coming off a late second half rally where Dirk Wallace air-raided and audibled his way to 14 unanswered points, the most stunning of which contained a 75-yard catch and sprint involving Yann Delano who managed to break three tackles and get into the end zone and then a 54-yard power-train from Gareth Lamont who despite Wallace's heroics is justly due player of the game with 187 yards rushing, 1 TD, 9 catches, 101 yards catching - he becomes just the second player in Bowerstone history to catch and run for 100 yards plus in the same game.

The first half of the game was defensive struggle as the Raiders and Bolts tested each other to see where they could probe and expose weaknesses and then pounce. Mar Sara managed to get the better of it at first, assembling consecutive deep drives just before half time that saw them score off of mid-range field goals off of the leg of Ulrik Bakke from 41 yards and 38 yards respectively. The first half ended with Bowerstone down six to nil, but evidently Turnbull managed to rally his team in the locker room as although the Raiders got the first possession of the second half, they were underpinned by a poor kick return by Lukas Hellström which saw them begin on their own 19, and this was further exacerbated when Ramsey's defense dialed the heat up to max and blitzed nearly every play seeking to overwhelm the Raiders, which they succeeded in doing by scoring a deflection on the first pass with a quarterback hit/pressure, followed by a 11 yard sack on Arquímedes Concepción by defensive tackle Cosmo Garner and then on third down the Raiders attempted a outside sprint but Kiggwe Chasima was stopped in his tracks by a power hit from defensive end Hercule Chadwick who had slipped through the C gap and brought Chasima down for a safety. A meager 2 points proved to be the spark they needed and just three possessions later, Wallace figured out the Raiders pass coverage and was soon running four receiver sets and ripping off chunks of yardage at a time; he finished the game just 18/39, but sailed the ball for a whopping 311 yards, 2 TD's and a single touchdown off of a tipped pass to Tobias Jakobsen in the third quarter.

Moving forward, the Bolts will now look to take on the perennial Zephyr champion and heavyweight, Ceneisis Naval Academy - the Bolts have gotten the better of them in the last two seasons and managed to beat them out to the conference title last year, and this match up of the old versus the new should prove interesting if Wallace can keep his electric play alive. He and Aldric Meyrick have found a sweet spot, and I believe it has to be the wishbone formation they have begun using this year, the versality afforded to them by the high abilities of King, Tanner and Lamont have allowed them to execute the play action much more successfully this year and it has led to some of their largest plays, and when they don't run it, the addition of the two extra backs or a tight end in the formation helps give them secured blocking and allow the ballcarrier (usually King) to break into the outside zone. I'd expect them to look to establish a run dominance early thereas to allow themselves to expand into large amounts of their playbook and deep passes.

Warriors look to rebound
by Aaron Hardison
UC Correspondent for The Times

University of the Commonwealth is set for it's second NSCF home game when University of Space will be the opponent for the third round of Mineral Conference play. The Astronauts come in sitting atop the standings, as the only team to have won both of the opening games, and with UC looking vulnerable, Space might be ready to reclaim their supremacy of the Mineral.

Problems on defense, which were an issue during the UAC season, reappeared against Catherine du Nord during the 39-37 defeat in Prevost. The Patriotes have now won twice in a row against UC, coming from behind to overcome the Warriors .

The Warriors weren't the only team surprised on the road in week 2, as Northern Moravica and Richardson University lost close games, throwing up questions across the competition as to the strength of conferences and teams.
UC continues to be underrated by pundits across the multiverse despite their four consecutive Mineral Conference titles, and their run to the semi-finals in the last edition. But surely they will need a victory against Space to regain some confidence in themselves, and respect from outside.

The kickoff will be later than is normal on College Hill; although the Castle Hall game had a 5:30 pm start, the Space game will have a 9:30 pm kickoff to account for the time difference.

HERE COMES THE IRISH!

Université du Saguenay : A Factfile.

As for the institution itself, Université du Saguenay (official known as Université du Saguenay à South Bend) is considered one of the best universities in Quebec, in particular for its undergraduate education. While excellent across the board, Saguenay is in particular renowned for its world-renowned Cavani School of Business, Lawrence A. Gong School of Architecture, and humanities programs. The university is also renowned for the need-blind admissions policy, as well as its ability to meet 100% of a student’s demonstrated financial need- something that only 5 Québécois institutions can proudly say so.

The university's unique culture, that promotes both the scientific knowledge and religious education, results in the school and its alumni network (only rivalled by St. Croix and Farrer) having close ties to the Québécois elite, in both Saguenay province and those in Montreal the economic capital and Quebec City the artistic and administrative capital of Québec. The Sagueneen elite of both Catholic and Buddhist denominations, seeing the need of a classical institution in Saguenay without having to travel to Québec City, built UdS in considered the capital of Quebecois traditional culture and folk traditions in 1792. Since then, Université du Saguenay has been a centre of Quebecois Religious Thought and also the Quebecois Thought. Atlantian Oceania is a region notable for its centrist political scene with penchant for hereditary power, and Quebec is among them, for its leftist leaning is partly contradicted by long history of purging republicanism - with the most recent purge happening just eight years ago (2034). This thought has partly influenced the Fighting Irish to stand out, as UdS and the Saguenay province are considered the baton of Classical Quebecois Conservatism.

Welcome to College Football Saturday.

Well here the Squidbreak are again - They ended up in Space. Just not the Academy of Space, but instead Terrestrial Acclimation. According to the Top 25 index published by Squidroidian website SeventeenThirtySix, this was #17 vs #20, a Mineral Conference showdown that for something this early into the collegiate football season had a lot of implications. Mark Brown of Terrestrial Acclimation was taking on Zlatan Agnellini, who when last traveling to Space ended up on the wrong side of an Astronaut beatdown. So how did this turn out?

#20 SQUIDBREAK | 14 | 7 | 0 | 6 | 27
#17 TERRESTRIAL ACCLIMATION | 0 | 3 | 7 | 3 | 13

Well would you look at that, the Squidbreak are actually good for once in Space! Ignore De Laurentis and his extra point blunder, let's just say that SAFA was on point in this 2 score victory for the #20 Squidbreak, their first ranked victory of the season. Zlatan Agnellini started off with a 5 yard rushing touchdown to put the Squidbreak on the board, then let the rushing game do the talking. Stein Bell got 2 of the 4 Squidbreak TDs, the halfback doing it in the 1st and 2nd quarters. While Terrestrial Acclimation had gotten some points by the 4th quarter, a field goal by Kevin Brundage and a touchdown reception by Brendon Morgan, the 21-10 scoreline wasn't enough. One Brundage field goal and a Alexandre Smedley TD later, the Squidbreak went back to Earth, this time with a dub.

This leaves the Mineral Conference wide open heading into Week 4 of the season. Catherine du Nord, University of the Commonwealth, Academy of Space and the Squidbreak are all on 2-1 records, Catherine du Nord beating Castle Hall away 23-10 while University of the Commonwealth won a 47-40 barnburner against Academy of Space. Terrestrial Acclimation go down to 1-2 while Castle Hall stays winless.

Cold Hill University, Football Locker Rooms

"So, coach, who'd we decide on?" Deondre turned his pen in hand, watching film with his head coach after everyone else had left. "What, thirty carries between the three? That's gotta be a decent sample size, right?"

Chris Dale nodded, "Right. And they all had a few coming into the game, as well. Our freshman looked more effective before, and I think that stayed consistent yesterday."

Rhine nodded. He himself hadn't had a stellar outing, three touchdowns and an interception with just over two hundred seventy yards. "So you're thinking Hillis? Judge had that hero game in the playoffs last year, we might get a bit of lashback."

Chris Dale waved an arm, "As long as you're still running up scores, I don't need to worry about fans being angry, just about keeping the team afloat. And besides," he added, "Hillis gives us a few options that the other two don't. You two look like you've got a good connection going."

Cold Hill's star quarterback shrugged, flashing a pearly grin, "Can't argue that coach, he's always where he needs to be. But hey, Felix Hamilton had a rushing touchdown. I know we're thin at receiver, but he could move to ba-"

"And that is enough out of you," Chris Dale waved him off with a laugh, "Now, as for this play..." the coach directed him back to the film screen, and they continued their study.

Albatross 'Albus' Vergol, Edge
#4 Recruit in Ranoria
Edmunton High School, Virginia, Ranoria

Big, strong, fast, what else could a team ask for?

Albatross. His mother was, or rather had been, a bit of a poetry buff, with a soft spot for the rime of the ancient mariner. It was an odd name, but going by Albus had killed a bit of the tongue twisting off.

Heavy, powerful, technical, who the hell could stop him?

Albatross Vergol hit the tackle and guard assigned to him with all the force of an angry bear, bulldozing through both of them and using his long arms to catch the running back who had been hoping to get to the other side of the line just as he got the football. He couldn't be stopped, not by this level of competition. By now they were up 27-3, it was just incredibly difficult to move the football on a mountain of a man like this.

Even he hadn't expected the ball to go flying when he hit the runner as hard as he did, but he wasn't complaining, thinking about how this would look on his highlight reel as he scooped it up and ran in for a defensive touchdown.

"Aunt Clara, of course I'm going to Richardson. They've had like, ten defensive ends go pro in the last eight years or something." Albus tore into his burger, thanking the heavens that his aunt was such an incredible chef.

"I'm just saying, you always say you want to travel the world once you get older," she put her own plate, now clean, into the other side of the sink, "I know you have your heart set on Richardson, but you're going to have trouble getting on the field there. Baby, you see those big boys they got? There's Sherman and then that Schmidt kid is just a freshman.

Vergol gave her a look, that look. "Auntie, I'll get my snaps, don't even worry abut that. And Sherman will probably go pro this season or next."

"Well," she sighed, taking his now empty dish as well, "You could get one foreign country marked off of that atrocious list of yours if you played somewhere else. Banija, The Commonwealth, Cosumar, I mean good lord, there must be twenty more."

The massive young man nodded, and stood, ready to hit the bed, with meetings in the morning and all. "Yeah, but that was more of a life goal, you know? Not so much planning on knocking it out now."

"Well," she countered, "You can visit a dozen countries casually, or you could go live in one of these places for four years! Really get to know their culture and such! That's going to be more of an experience than you'd probably ever have an opportunity for down the road."

"I don't know," Albus sighed, "You know mom was a big fan of the Governors. I just felt like it would make her proud."

"Honey," his aunt took a softer tone, "She'll be proud of you no matter where you go. Now get to bed, you've got film in the morning."

"Yeah, alright. Good night."

As he walked to his room, he passed the refrigerator, where his report card was secured by a magnet. Only a couple of actual high school courses were present, after all, he was going to nearly graduate with an associate's degree. Even crazier, he was going to graduate a year early, which would allow him to play college and consequently professional, football a year sooner.

Fan of football, the Murican kind. But soccer is cool too! Just not really my thing. C(:^D/-<
I go by Ran. Unless, of course, you want to type out Ranoria. That's your decision.
