Welcome to the thread for everything sport related in the country of Central Shaneville, the nation just came out of a period of rebuild and reform and this has impacted the sports played in the nation, gone are the days of fields and renovated conference centers to new state of the art arenas for all kinds of sports before the rebuild a few years ago Central Shaneville had only grazed the surface of international competition and with the introduction of the SSA (Shaneville Sports Association) as a governing body for the major tournaments played in the country who knows where Central Shaneville will go as a nation, with aspirations high and aims higher with fans all around the country with a variety of interests in sports.

The Rebuild
The Rebuild occured after Central Shaneville failed to qualify for World Cup 81 as everyone in the country decided their failure was down to inexperience and poor facilities, with this being said though Central Shaneville had not really made its mark really anywhere in the sporting world at this point so it started to build a domestic love of sports as well as keeping the traditional Shanevillean passion and energy when it came to international competition, the following places were constructed as part of Phase 1 of the building process.

Red Bull Arena
Image
A magnificent 200 million pound facility, the Red Bull Arena on the east coast in downtown Shaneville City, Red Bull Arena is a soccer stadium at heart but it can host rugby matches and even concerts if needed the stadium has two tiers and its unique design could lead it becoming well known outside Central Shaneville its capacity is around 40,000 however expansion is possible, most big finals are played here as well as some international association football matches, it is the biggest football/rugby stadium in the country, other stadiums though are available to play at but are not as advanced as this.

Mountainside
Image
Up in the mountains near the town of Dereham lies something new for Central Shaneville sports fans to sink their teeth into, that being the Mountainside cricket ground, used for all forms of the sport the site used to hold Dereham's old football/soccer facilities but they were moved further into town, Cricket's popularity in the country has sky rocketed and multiple cities have been set up teams around the country and its surrounding islands in hope to one day play on this new ground, its capacity is around 19,000 for domestic matches and 25,000 for international games should international cricket ever take off in popularity in the country like it has domestically - Mountainside also houses modern facilities like a two tiered pavilion, a conference center and a several million pound media and player center.

The Owl Centre
Image
By far the biggest project was The Owl Centre, named after the national animal of Central Shaneville, a multi million pound sports centre also in Shaneville City however a smaller one can be found in Lincoln, another city in the center of the country, The Owl Centre hosts most indoor sports and the SSA deem it "multi purpose" it has two basketball courts, an ice hockey rink (built after Central Shaneville entered the World Cup of Hockey 35), two Squash courts, a swimming pool and outdoor Tennis courts as well as training facilities, President of Central Shaneville - John Poseidon - opened the Centre himself saying that it was for the sportsmen, women and everyone else, the SSA meeting rooms can also be found in this complex.

Phase 2 of the rebuild is unclear however with all this being said, stay tuned as Season 1 of Central Shaneville's sporting programme will begin shortly and whilst this rebuild asks alot of questions of the developing nation, the future looks bright for it domestically it looks like their motto is true as they truly want to "Discover Tomorrow."

Stay tuned for Season 1 of Central Shaneville's sporting programme.

THE FINALS - SEASON 1
The following section of the thread will cover the finals of the SSL Playoffs at the Red Bull Arena and the Season 1 SSA Mountaineers Cup Cricket Tournament at Mountainside.
SSL PLAYOFFS - ROAD TO THE CUP
The winners will receive the John Poseidon Trophy.
QUARTER FINALS
Shaneville Bulls 4-3 Lincoln Cavaliers
Fagos Matadors 2–2 Newark Buccaneers (3–3 AET) (2–3 pen.)
Phoenix Blaze 0–1 Northern Territory Thunder
Southern Bay Dolphins 1–1 Mares Mountain Wanderers (2–1 AET)

The fans voted that the best Quarter Final game was the Fagos vs. Newark match which ended in the very first SSL Road to the Cup penalty shootout elsewhere Southern Bay clutched an extra time win over Mares with the mountain townsfolk reportedly deeply saddened as they watched on in the pub back in Mares.

SEMI FINALS
Shaneville Bulls 3–0 Newark Buccaneers
Northern Territory Thunder 3–2 Southern Bay Dolphins

Northern Territory Thunder, the dark horses, qualified for the final after commanding a 3-2 over Southern Bay whilst Newark were steamrolled by the Shaneville Bulls who have dramatically changed their fortunes around from where they were in the regular season, Newark and Southern Bay will now focus on their Cricket Mountaineer Cup campaign whilst a highly anticipated Shaneville City vs. Northern Territory encounter will no doubt sell out the Red Bull Arena, can the CS National Trophy winners, Shaneville Bulls, win the double in the first season?

FINAL
Shaneville Bulls 1-0 Northern Territory Thunder

The answer was yes but it was quite the anti climax with only one goal but regardless the Shaneville Bulls have made their mark on the Central Shaneville football world as have their opponents the Northern Territory Thunder who look even more dangerous after Season 1, Shaneville Bulls lift the John Poseidon Trophy and are the first to do this.

MOUNTAINEERS CUP - SEMI FINALS
The following is what happened at the Mountainside Cricket Ground in the finals of the cricket tournament.
Newark 163/8 (20 overs)
Southern Bay 142/7 (20 overs)

Skegness 117/4 (20 overs)
Bayside 120/9 (16.3 overs)

MOUNTAINEERS CUP FINAL
Newark 192/7 (20 overs)
Bayside 151/8 (20 overs)

SSA READY FOR SEASON 2
After an extended break due to COVID-19 which gave teams and the country itself to make some improvements to Central Shaneville sporting life, Season 2 of the SSA Sporting season is ready to kick off with the football and cricket leagues still very much the main focuses however this time around new sports are being tested behind the scenes that sadly will not make it into the public eye for Season 2 but the SSA have promised they will be monitoring these "test sports" very closely - these sports include: Bowling, Rugby Sevens, Handball and Basketball with the idea of getting Central Shaneville's sporting scene up domestically with new sports and infrastructure so it could potentially host some kind of either regional competition or international competition.

"Before we weren't ready to host anything" the head of the Shaneville Sports Association said "I believe now we almost have everything in place if our second season goes ahead without a hitch like the first did, obviously there has been some format changes with some fans complaining the football season was too long so we have adjusted that to try and make it more entertaining."

SEASON 2 - SEASON RESULTS
Shaneville Super League (SSL)
The Road to the Red Bull Arena starts here with 18 teams all looking to make a name for themselves and become inaugural domestic champions in the Central Shaneville football world, the Skegness Coastal team was surprisingly bought out after they failed to even make Season 1 after financial issues, these new owners made a deal with the SSA to relocate the team to the northern island of Central Shaneville and to the major city of Ajaccio on said island and with that the Ajaccio became the 18th team in Shaneville Super League, they look to build a dynasty as a team according to inside sources but with the competitiveness of the league the other teams are doubting them.

The format changes this season due to fan complaints that it was too long so the SSL season now only has each team play each other once in the regular season before the Top 8 advance to the playoffs/Road to the Cup like before.

The winners of the CS National Trophy (the team who finishes top of the Super League at the end of the regular season) as well as whoever finishes 2nd will advance to the next Melayu Archipelago Champions League, this will mark the first time a Central Shaneville club team has played abroad.

If anything significant happened after a matchday you will see it below the results which will be marked as spoilers.

MATCHDAY 1
STORIES OF THE MATCHDAY: The new Ajaccio Lightning team were interesting prospects heading into this season yet their confidence will be knocked after getting edged out by a goal by the defending champions who look to repeat, elsewhere the Bulls' rivals, the Northern Territory Thunder, dominated a rather lackluster Chille Vipers team.
Shaneville Bulls 2–1 Ajaccio Lightning
Fagos Matadors 1–0 Lincoln Imps
Phoenix Blaze 3–3 Shaneville City Trains
Southern Bay Dolphins 0–1 Darwin Heat
Mares Mountain Wanderers 4–5 Bayside Suns
Northern Territory Thunder 7–1 Chille Vipers
Newark Buccaneers 4–2 Ardton Jets
Lincoln Cavaliers 1–0 Dereham Eclipse
Sares Dragons 0–1 Central Warriors

MATCHDAY 2
STORIES OF THE MATCHDAY: The two Shaneville City sides once again find themselves at each others throats and the bragging rights currently go to the Trains side of Shaneville City who dominated Southern Bay whilst the Bulls drew 1-1 with the Matadors who they beat in the Semi Finals of the Super League Playoffs last season.
Ajaccio Lightning 1–1 Central Warriors
Dereham Eclipse 1–1 Sares Dragons
Ardton Jets 3–2 Lincoln Cavaliers
Chille Vipers 1–2 Newark Buccaneers
Bayside Suns 2–1 Northern Territory Thunder
Darwin Heat 3–2 Mares Mountain Wanderers
Shaneville City Trains 5–2 Southern Bay Dolphins
Lincoln Imps 2–3 Phoenix Blaze
Shaneville Bulls 1–1 Fagos Matadors

MATCHDAY 3

Central Warriors 0–5 Dereham Eclipse

MATCHDAY 4
STORIES OF THE MATCHDAY: The Ajaccio Lightning continue their slump, which you could put down to roast, with their managers criticizing the players for supposedly "not trying" which has definitely knocked the confidence of their players but will this make them try harder in the next matchday?

Ardton Jets 2–2 Central Warriors
Chille Vipers 1–1 Sares Dragons
Bayside Suns 0–0 Lincoln Cavaliers
Darwin Heat 1–0 Newark Buccaneers

STORIES OF THE MATCHDAY: The Ajaccio Lightning management's aggressive team talk seemingly worked as a floundering Phoenix Blaze team were pushed a side but only by a goal, elsewhere the Shaneville Bulls continue their run after their 1-0 loss to the same team that Ajaccio beat.

The Northern Territory Thunder also experience a slump losing 1-0 to the Lincoln Imps who finished near the bottom of the table at the end of last season's regular season.

Dereham Eclipse 1–0 Ardton Jets

MATCHDAY 6
STORIES OF THE MATCHDAY: The "great rivalry" continues with Northern Territory beating their rivals Shaneville Bulls by the same scoreline the Bulls beat the Thunder last time they faced off, the only difference was this time it wasnt for the championship. Ajaccio Lightning also continue their run beating a very mediocre Ardton Jets team whilst the other Shaneville City team (the Trains) finishing this matchday with a win over the Cavaliers.

Fagos Matadors 3–5 Mares Mountain Wanderers
Phoenix Blaze 1–1 Southern Bay Dolphins

MATCHDAY 7
STORIES OF THE MATCHDAY: This matchday saw only the second 0-0 draw of the season whilst the Shaneville City sides floundered and Northern Territory gained more ground on their rivals in the table which continues to change every matchday.
Southern Bay Dolphins 2–0 Ajaccio Lightning
Mares Mountain Wanderers 1–1 Phoenix Blaze

Newark Buccaneers 3–1 Shaneville Bulls
Lincoln Cavaliers 0–2 Lincoln Imps

Darwin Heat 0–1 Dereham Eclipse
Shaneville City Trains 2–2 Central Warriors
Lincoln Imps 2–4 Sares Dragons

18 Lincoln Cavaliers                             8    1   3   4     7   11   −4     6

As we can see at the halfway point: Goal difference seem to be the biggest point towards who makes it to the "Road to the Cup" - Darwin Heat are so far the quiet underdogs of the season so far going unnoticed by the bigger teams and even some pundits, Lincoln Cavaliers are the biggest strugglers so far who are bottom.
