Last season: For years now, the Oriannor Mountaineers have been one of the most consistent teams in the Tikariot Premier League, with this past season the tenth in a row where they finished in the top 10. And this season was no different, with only four weeks spent outside of IFCF qualification positions. With one of the league's youngest back fours, the Mountaineers had the second-best defence, while the 29 goals of Xasthur Fredriksson and Jardel Connolly did their part on the other end of the pitch, with the midfield doing a masterful job combining the two extremes, with Celyn Monaghan continuing to be the fulcrum of Oriannor's game. Another strength of the Mountaineers was the quality coming off the bench either in response to injuries or to bring on fresh legs, with Kiarra Yates even pushing Duke Waltham from the starting eleven.
New Arrivals: The Mountaineers have managed to sign one of the hottest commodities in Tikariotian football with former Xanark City left midfielder Easton Aird. For a window record transfer fee of 6 million auranurs, he has been brought in to replace TJUN-ian team legend Nick James, who has signed a contract with Capnordian side Vereniging Huftstad. Other notable players to leave the club are Israel Conrad and Duke Waltham, who are joining the Bul Khungur Miners and Guillarim Blades, respectively, with Waltham having lost his starting position to Kiarra Yates last season. Cordian left back Helen Skjeggestad is the only other new signing that is not coming in from an academy, taking over the number one backup role to Kelvin Rowley. Among the new blood coming up from the academy, Mountaineers fans are especially excited for Cardenaoan/Tikariotian striker Gaizka Arrascaeta, who is poised to become one of the successors to the wildly successful Fredriksson/Connolly duo upfront.
Key Players: Four key players can be easily identified within the Oriannor roster. Starting in the back, Chromatik goalkeeper Siane Sundrifter has had an outstanding first season and has proved immediately that he is one of the best young keepers in the multiverse. Then, of course, there is Celyn Monaghan, who has been the midfield motor for the Mountaineers for years and is not showing any signs of slowing down. A true specialist in dead-ball situations and able to pull the strings across the whole pitch, he is the centrepiece of Oriannor's play. The main beneficiary of this is the frontline duo of Xasthur Fredriksson and Jardel Connolly, who have been among the most prolific forwards of the TPL for many years now.
TSG Prediction: One thing Oriannor management has masterfully perfected over the years is to gradually rejuvenate the team without losing momentum. This season is no different, and given the quality of player material and the experience of the coach, the Mountaineers will once again be in contention for the TPL title.
