I would definitely not support the idea of abandoning AOCAF because the host has gone AWOL.

These are difficult times for everyone. We all need to demonstrate more patience and humanity than we usually do without a pandemic wreaking havoc on people's lives and their well beings.

That said, I'm disappointed and frustrated that we're facing the same thing that happened in the last IBC as it pertains to a delay with no communication from the host. Frankly, it's the reason I voted to reopen bids. It's not an indictment against EQS as a host, but the events of the IBC gave me concerns that this could happen again.

I don't know if we need to think about safeguards in the event of another situation like this, but it may be something to ponder.

Well, to comment.

There's no need for abandonment to really be on the table. It is a technical, legitimate option, so I have no problem with it being brought up. But that was assuming we couldn't' find anyone to takeover- but with AO's two most experienced hosts both volunteering themselves quite early on, it's not an issue.

I do think Vil is right. Sometimes, stuff happens. I think we wait a standard week from when cutoff was supposed to be (Sunday to Sunday), and if we hear nothing, we figure out who will host the remainder of the tournament and continue. Both Valanora and VIlita volunteered themselves- it'd undoubtedly be easier on VilTur since he's already graded, but Valanora also volunteered herself in the full knowledge that she'd have to catch up on RP- evidently she's fine with that so I have no preference between the two.

I should say- I don't think EQS is entirely gone? The other day, when WC signups filled up, he changed the thread topic title to Waitlist Only. Must have been Sunday morning or something? So I think he'll return in time.

I'd be in favor of waiting for a few days, then handing it over to whomever volunteers if EQS doesn't contact us back.

Make that three - I'm available if timeframe etc gets in the way of either of the Vs.

Hey everyone,

First, I'd like to apologize for going AWOL recently. I've had some family-related issues in the last week that have been draining and time-consuming. While I'm not particularly interested in discussing all the exact details here, I will say that thankfully everyone's still healthy, which a few of you were kind enough to ask me about.

Anyways, regarding the AOCAF, it is my intention to resume scorination and complete the tournament. My cutoff time will remain the same as before, with the following schedule:

Friday, August 21: Round of 16
Sunday, August 23: Quarterfinals
Tuesday, August 25: Semifinals
Thursday, August 27: Final & 3rd Place Playoff
