The Football Association of the Commonwealth of Baker Park has taken up the duties of hosting the Under-18 World Championship, in agreement with Sporting World Magazine, who will take a secondary role in the sponsorship for this edition.
The eleventh edition of the tournament, which showcases the best up & coming youth talent from across the multiverse, will mark the first time a former champion will play host to the competition.
The number of participants has varied throughout the history of the tournament, and there will not be a hard cap on entries, although once a sizable number is reached, main nations—especially emerging nations who have not previously competed in the SWC—will be preferred over puppets.
Formats:
At present only a 32 team field will see the use of a standard eight group format, otherwise there will be a preference for six groups; the unpredictability of youth sides recommends a longer group stage for proper evaluation, as there is no real advantage or disadvantage to an extra matchday or two.
The popular and convenient 'pod stage' plan—where groups are kept within a specific area to make travel and accommodations easy for teams and supporters alike—will be used for this tournament, but the Semi-finals and Final will be held at the 72,000 seat BBP National Stadium in Belle Haven; it has hosted the 3rd place playoff of World Cup 84, the Final of the AO Champions League, domestic Cup finals and Playoff finals, as well as major championship events in college & professional football and rugby union.
Scoring/Bonus info
The xkorinate NSFS formula program for association football, with xkorinate modifiers will be the standard used; there will be a roster bonus and a generous daily RP scale weighted towards quality of posts.
