On the surface, there might not have been much at stake as faceoff specialist Jon Austin lined up across from his Baker Park counterpart. After all, the Sarzonian national lacrosse team were playing for third place in the Atlantian Oceania Lacrosse Classic, a tournament with a brief history and limited pedigree, at least for now.

Stars manager Carter Whitlock didn't sign on to be the manager of the Stars to earn bronze medals. Facing the prospect of yet another third place finish was a disappointment he would have to swallow.

And yet, there was one motivating factor that would be more meaningful than even the bronze medal a victory over their recently minted rivals would provide. Revenge. After Baker Park opened the AOLC with a crushing victory over the Stars, Sarzonia wanted to prove that result was a one-off. They got a measure of revenge with a 18-8 victory that was punctuated by a five-goal outing from Nick Loewen and seven saves for Matt Henning.

As much as Whitlock downplayed his disappointment after Banija defeated his Stars in the semifinals to throw more gasoline onto what was already shaping up to be the modern era's fiercest lacrosse rivalry, the half-hearted smile on Whitlock's face as the official representing Baker Park's lacrosse federation placed the bronze medal around his neck betrayed his milquetoast soundbites.

He wanted a championship. A title in the AOLC wouldn't have been the trophy he wanted, but it would have been a good building block for the future. And sometime in the future, perhaps it might someday take the character in lacrosse that AOCAF occupies in football.

For now, though, he had his team winning two of its last three matches, including a victory over a Baker Park side level with Sarzonia at sixth in the world and an overtime defeat to fifth ranked Banija. He had something to build on as the Stars opened the World Lacrosse Championships against 15th ranked Aimena, the only other ranked team in Group F.

He would have to account for impossibly tall players, but in a multiverse with footy-playing bears, equine basketball players and various other oddities, it was simply one more in a long string of challenges. He just hoped he and his team would be up to all of them.

A newcomer to the international Lacrosse scene, Tikariot's first foray into the World Lacrosse Championships is a big question mark. Despite some reasonable successes in exhibition matches, this will be the first real show of strength. Drawing from the talent pool of Premier Lacrosse Tikariot, head coach Veronica Karzalka is confident to be able to stage a surprise or two. Centred around the core of league powerhouse Fort Viljan Raiders, this co-ed team banks on its strong spirit to take this event by storm!

WLC34 preview: Phoenixes appear for first time since WLC16 silver medal

The last time Delaclava took part in a World Lacrosse Championships, they entered with no ranking and no expectations, yet marched all the way to the final before a defeat to Sarzonia.

Decades later, the competition is deeper and tougher than ever, and Delaclava again enters unranked, and simply hoping to make their best first impression when they open their campaign tonight against the defending champions, #1-ranked St. Saratoga.

The entirety of the tournament takes place in the Esportivan nation of Jeckland - a welcome feature of this tournament, logistically more practical and reducing unnecessary travel for the squads. The tournament commences with the group stage, with eight groups of four teams playing a double-round robin. In addition to St. Saratoga, who also won WLC 31 as well as WLC 33, Delaclava has drawn 15th-ranked Terre Septentrionale and fellow unranked squad and friendly Atlantian Oceanian rival Royal Kingdom of Quebec.

Delaclava's 24-man roster is headlined by Bosmond Stags attacker and United Lacrosse Tour MVP Jimmy Manutin, collegiate player of the year and midfielder Kyle Bachman of Hatcher College (and the Manakula Bulldogs professionally), and goalie Paul van Karajan of the Pussonne Serpents, whose goalie coach, Paul's father Jos, joins the coaching staff. Ron Carter of the Bosmond Stags serves as head coach, with Jimmy Butler of the national champions Wicks College serving as assistant coach.

Carter opted to take multiple players from a few professional squads to facilitate chemistry. His Stags lead team selections with six players; sending five players each are the Serpents and the Carnstone Coyotes, the most notable of which is attacker Brad Muntean; and the Bulldogs and Catherina LC each send four players, with Catherina's selections highlighted by attacker/midfielder Riley Collins. All these teams hail from the ULT, which has recently been rebranded as ULTimate.

The array of alma maters (and current college teams) are more spread out. St. James leads with four; Wicks, Catherina, and Dewitt University each have three; Quinniville IT boasts two; and NUR Beliri, Hatcher, Marramar, Ixtlajamo, Fanuk, Sosuk, CUR Corcorran, Kitsuartat, and Marturak Azgiveratsum all feature one apiece. Six of the 24-man roster are still active collegiate players, including four starters - defenders Jake Lilly of Wicks and Bert Salas of NUR Beliri, plus Bachman and Muntean of Quinniville IT - and two reserves, midfielder Julian Jacobs of Sosuk and defensive midfielder Kaspar Schwantner of Catherina.

While little is promised to the once-again upstart Phoenixes, the road to advance is not entirely blocked. It hinges largely on defeating the other unranked squads, Quebec - both times if possible - as well as picking up a win over Terre Septentrionale. While snatching an upset on St. Saratoga seems highly unlikely, the Delaclav lacrosse squad has never been one to back down, and they head into today's match against the best team in the world not with apprehension, but with excitement, optimism, and pride.

It's the attitude that took a young Delaclav team long ago to its best international finish in the world championship of any sport other than football - with a little luck, that mindset could just do it again.

March 6th, 2017
Showtime

After I had switched off my television set for the night out of spite for the 2 red eyed pop stars, I seemed to have gotten ready for bed. Slipping onto pijamas, which were of course just a shirt and some elastic pants, I had said so long to this day and was ready for a new adventure tomorrow. Probably more office work, some groaning that I didn't go to the concert, maybe even a pink slip if I had a bad day. In Inkhalla, anything was possible, even the most bizzare things. However, as I started to sleep, I heard something, 4 notes if you'd will. They were ominous... And seemed to mess with me.

Those notes made me feel light-headed, almost seemingly making me insane. I could feel it take control of my mind slowly, my eyes turning blue. I had to stop it or else I'd go bonkers. I would go around like a zombie, looking for something to block out the music. At least there was noise cancelling headphones, so I was safe for now... As my eyes turned back to normal I would smile at myself and head back to bed.

An hour later, I heard another noise.

BANG!

Somebody launched a Molotov on my house in anger. My house was on fire. Oh no. With my stuff burning down in a blaze, I had to get out. The smoke signal was beeping like a mad dog, blaring all over the place as I ran out with my headphones on. Nobody wanted to give me a rest. Nobody seemed to want me alive. Nobody gave a flying pigeon about me. I was considered dead. Then I looked outside.

Everyone was mad. Everyone was having their own hissy fits, throwing themselves and screaming and growling all over the place like wolves. Then... I realized something. Those squids must've did it! Fake Callie and Fake Marie were setting up a terrorist attack on Inkopolis and probably all of Inkhalla, and I couldn't stopped it if I tried. I had to live this out, even if I died trying. Then I saw them on a monitor, doing the Kubrick stare... Oh fuck.

HUElavia Earns their 1st Ever Victory against The Sarian!

HUElavia 17-9 The Sarian

After two previous tournaments of being blown out of the WLC with two 0-6 sweeps, HUElavia finally got their first ever victory in the tournament. The team had a valiant effort against 17th Ranked The Sarian, which the match saw HUElavia as the massive underdogs for the match. Hernandes had a spectacular match scoring 5 Goals while Gomez was making great passes left and right and even got 2 goals, adding to her 6 assists. Vincent and Rodriguez also had a great match in the defense, making saves and blocks, even if the team conceded 9 goals. The crowd was Pro-HUElavia, which gave a motivation for the team looking to make the country happy. Overall, the team's rotations helped the team keep pace against The Sarian and had them exhausted by the end of the match.

Regardless, Los Amarillos/Os Amarelos started the tournament on the right foot, and now will face against #5 Banija, where the Banijans are overwhelming favorites. Regardless, the team is just happy to finally get a victory in the WLC and look to build up on experience from the victory moving forward.

FORCA HUELAVIA! VAMOS HUELAVIA! GO HUELAVIA!

K'NektIt

Jimmy Manutin

I'm writing this late, but man, it took forever to wrap my thoughts around today. The team decided to make it an early night after dinner, so that's given me some time to reflect. Despite the loss, we're in pretty good spirits - but we're more motivated than ever, and we'd like to stay dialed in until our tournament is over.

We definitely had a mixed reaction the first time we saw the group draw and noticed St. Saratoga, the defending champions, the best team in the world, was going to be our very first match in Jeckland. And we were going to have to kick things off in a 70,000-seat stadium - and as you saw, it was pretty packed today. While the crowd was generally pretty positive, they weren't there to see us - they were there to see the favorites, as we expected. So coming across this scenario for the first time, I'm not going to lie - we were a little intimidated.

But things were looking up for us a little bit - our first AOLC match against Baker Park was decent, and while our follow-up match against Sarzonia was pretty poor - and kept us out of the semifinals - we had a great game against Qasden, 14-11 to salvage fifth place. First win for this team, first top-10 win - no reason to think we couldn't at least perform respectably against the Saints. Plus, if we did that, maybe we'd have a real chance at the other two teams in this group, and start to string together a rung in this tournament. We plan, prepare, and play one game at the time, but that's not why you go out and play; it's ambition and hope that carries you through. So we were going to play to win, to beat the best team in the world, and see what happens.

It's hard to describe what we were all feeling into the lead-up to the game, and stepping out onto the field for the first time. The AOLC was a great experience, it was really nice to play in Oceana and get our feet wet. But now everything was bigger - the stadium, the tournament, the opponents, the stakes. We went about our pre-game warmup, just trying to ignore how massive this was, but it was just about impossible. Ultimately, we were just grateful that the DOC sent us out to represent our country and put some respect on the red and gold.

The game itself: admittedly, we started out a bit stunned. The Saints were also trying to feel the game out - it's not an easy task, taking care of business against unranked squads when you've just won a world championship. But they figured out the game first and ended the first quarter with a 5-1 lead. Only a late goal from Michael Querrey kept us from getting shut out in that first quarter. After that, it was relief. We'd run around on somewhat shaky legs for that 15-minute frame, we had survived it without getting shelled on defense, and put a goal of our own on the board. Time to get focused on our game plan.

We're proud of how we played today. They showed why they're #1 - their squad is so deep, anyone on the offensive end can step in for a shot, they move smoothly, but are still really tough. We'd focused in on shutting down Joseph Wilkens and Dominic Fitzgerald, but left Mickey Wright too much to do. He's 19 - younger than all of us - but he's legit. We finally started opening up with offensive chances in the second half and Alexander Atkins didn't give us much to work with. And they're only going to get better as the tournament goes on - so we have to do that too. But we definitely got our shots in, and everyone got their turn on the scoresheet - Querrey, me, Riley, Ben, Galen, Bachman, and Frankie. We have the potential to be just as well-rounded - it may take a bit of time.

So where does that leave us? An eight-goal loss isn't bad, but it's not exactly close. It's a gap we have to bridge. We have Quebec next - they're no St. Saratoga, but they're coming off a stingy 10-6 loss to Terre Sep, and they should be hungry to put up a win. But we know we want it more.

Thanks to all the Phoenixes fans for your support - we're going to get you a win to celebrate really soon.

Winning a game against Baker Park by scoring 18 goals in a regional tournament is one thing. Even though Baker Park are level with the Sarzonian national lacrosse team in the rankings at No. 6, it was still a far cry from the World Lacrosse Championships.

The Stars faced off against the only other ranked team in Group F,easily dispatching No. 15 Aimena 21-9 to send a statement to the rest of Group F and to the lacrosse world in general.

It wasn't the same statement that beating the likes of recently minted rivals Banija in the knockout rounds would be, and it wasn't the same statement that winning an unprecedented sixth title and putting further distance between them and Abanhfleft would be, but it was a statement nonetheless.

Even with a completely revamped roster that put greater emphasis on depth and on focusing on the task at hand, the Stars would continue to play like Stars. Martin Page scored four goals, as did Colin Grassley. Matt Henning made six saves. The defence forced four half pitch violations and made things unnaturally easy for Henning.

The Stars (1-0) would face a team that was brand new to them, but was beginning to make their presence known in the sporting world in Sylestone. They dropped their lacrosse debut to fellow debutant nation Lovisa 13-4. Even though Lovisa are brand new to lacrosse, thru previously faced the Stars in football a long time ago by any measure.

As for that history, Stars manager Carter Whitlock isn't particularly interested in any meaning that could be drawn from that history.

"This is a different situation from anything that happened before," he said. "We don't play football."

[i]The picture fades in to the studios of Tikariot Sports Gazette TV, with the hosts of 'Lacrosse Night in Tikariot' Spencer Canmore and Trudy den Bakker ready to go.

Spencer Canmore: Good evening ladies and gentlemen, welcome to our coverage of the 34th World Lacrosse Championships in Jeckland.

Trudy den Bakker: The first game of the group stage lies behind us and Tikariot's first appearance at the WLC has been a success, edging out The Jovannic Emperors 16 to 12. Interestingly enough, our team is also facing the Emperors in the International Baseball Slam XI that is currently going on as well, with a similar result in their first series.

Canmore: Inspired by the success of the baseball team so far, our lacrosse team has also decided to adopt the new nickname Devil's Rejects to show their solidarity with their fellow athletes and showing how close-knit of a sporting community Tikariot has.

Image

Canmore: Our team was not off to a good start, finding itself down 0-4 after just three minutes, causing coach Veronica Karzalka to perform the equivalent to a Rumpelstiltskin dance on the sidelines and from what I heard she did not mince her words.

den Bakker: No, Anthony was able to confirm that he was worried about minors in the stands getting a linguistic lesson their parents would not approve of!

Canmore: Hahaha, I can imagine. However it seemed to have been successful, as the team rallied back and brought the game to a 5-5 by the end the first period was over with Andrea Garovalo from the Tikariot City Warriors being the fulcrum in Tikariot's game, assisting three of the five goals and upfront Anthony Riaan den Bakker and Aram Varanyan both scored a brace with Elizabeth van Hoorne adding one goal of her own.

den Bakker: Period number two was less successful, though, with Tikariot only scoring one more time while conceding three. So given the scenes in the opening period I think we have an idea what it must have been like in the cabin at halftime. This time the success was not as imminent, though, with the result after 45 minutes being 8-11, but then Coach Karzalka made two changes that would prove to be the recipe for late success.

Canmore: Megan Douglas and Alan Servar were replaced by Julia Sanford and Sidney Anderson, bringing the total of Fort Viljan Raiders players on the field to five and this move brought a completely different unity to the team with the core of the reigning Premier Lacrosse Tikariot champions bringing the team together.

Image

den Bakker: The defensive trio of goalie Clarissa Delacourt and defenders Kevin Storsgaard and Thomas Carrington brought their absolute A-game for the final period, only allowing one more goal for The Jovannic, while three goals by Sanford, two each by Varanyan and van Hoorne and one last goal by Anderson sealed the deal for a decisive 16-12 win for Tikariot.

Canmore: We're not sure if Coach Karzalka is going to make any changes for game number two against Xanneria, but given how things went there might be a chance for at least Julia Sanford to see a spot in the starting line-up. Xanneria is coming off a 8-10 defeat against Abanhfleft, so they might be out for revenge to show that they are better than that game indicated, but I have a feeling that our coach knows how to motivate our crew to get the most out of them this time and a little less of a nail biter.

den Bakker: We'll see you tomorrow for our coverage of matchday two of the World Lacrosse Championships, I am Trudy den Bakker.

Canmore: And I am Spencer Canmore.

Postby Sylestone » Fri Jul 03, 2020 12:52 am

In a game between two unranked nations, Sylestone fell 13-4 to a diligent and controlled Lovisa side. They were dominated throughout the entire game and their goalkeeper put up an exceptionally poor performance.
"I know this is just our first game and many of us aren't even familiar with the sport, but we must do better than this. We have Sarzonia next and they will offer us a distinct challenge. The odds are weighted extremely heavily against us for good reason. They are experienced, but we can do this. If we play like we did in training then we might have hope. But until then, we'd better train. Now."
Captain Will Lax.

Metis Valentine ran a carefully manicured nail over her lips to apply a layer of lip gloss over her burnt orange coloured lipstick.

She ran her hands through her rich auburn hair, letting it fall into an 'i just stumbled out of the woods after hand to paw combat with a bear tousled wild look'.

Metis gave herself one last look over in the mirror of the bathroom of Hillside stadium.

On the drive up to Hillside, she was elated to see the stadium nestled homely between two of Jecklands hills. She had wound down the window of her rented Alfa Romeo Giulia Alfa Ross to breathe in the fresh air that flowed into the valley.

The scenery seemed more appropriate for a weekend outdoors than a lacrosse game, but she wasn't here to enjoy the outdoor environment of Jeckland, she was here to watch a game of lacrosse; The West Phoenician Daredevils were taking on the tram from Mitwell. Watch and inspire the team.

She left the bathroom and proceeded to find her seat. She had been hired by Daredevil team manager Sunil Singh to be the team muse for the season. It had created a small amount of gossip that the manager would use the services of a muse. They already had pagan players praying to goddess Fortuna. How much more could a muse help the game?

People often looked at her oddly when they asked what she did for a living. "I'm a Muse," she would recite with pride. A companion who wholly becomes the source of inspiration for a creative artist. In this role, it would be for a sports team.

She came with excellent credentials. When she told people she first crossed paths with her, many would raise an eyebrow and wonder if she was pulling their leg.
However, she had attended an exclusive art school, the only one in the nation that trained a small number of men and women to be muses.

At $1000 a week her role was to be at all games and practised. She would offer words of support and encouragement. She was a self-esteem builder. Having her present was like a lucky charm. Her words spoke the truth, inspiring players to be the best they could be. She didn't have any magical powers, it was just her faith in each player and her praising that inspired them.

While she was part of the Daredevils support team, it allowed her to sit with the coaches during games and she was present in locker rooms, aiding and assisting the pep talks.

This was the first match of the World Lacrosse Championships, the 34th season. She had given an amazing pep talk, calling the players, 'one with the earth beneath their feet.'
A win would be marvellous, especially if she wanted to be around for the 35th edition. But at the end of the day, it came down to the players, words and positive feelings would only go so far.

The Daredevils had invested a lot of extra training to form a strong defence.
Skip Brisbane would be acting as goals for the first matchday. He was an outwardly strong player who had been with the team for 12 years. During the practice matches and train, he had come off calm, competent and a force to be reckoned with. However, he had come to her in private. He had just turned 40 and knew his time on the team was now in jeopardy.
The other two goalies on the team were younger. James Harper especially was 19, fresh and eager to please management. Skip was concerned he was getting slow on age and wouldn't be able to keep up with someone younger and hungrier.
"Play each game as if it was your last," she had confided in him. Younger does not always equate to better. Skip was an asset for the team and he had to keep showing his coach why he was always going to be the best choice for a goalie. Metis had given him a hug, saying she was transferring her positive energy onto him.

Metis headed down to where the coaches were sitting, she passed the section of the stands that sat the wives and girlfriends of the players.
She felt the hostile glares from a number of them.
The girlfriend of Comet Blaine, a member of the defence line up, coughed as she uttered slut under her breath.

Metis shook her head, it was really disappointing that these small-minded women dismissed her gift as a muse and whispered behind her back calling her a prostitute.
No matter how much she protested, she couldn't change their minds, even when she said she wasn't sleeping with the players. She was too busy to confront them now, the first match was only 5 minutes away and she needed to get to her seat.

Solving Cohesion Problems key to Jovannic Success:

After the loss against Tikariot, there was only one problem with the otherwise promising and splendid team. Teamwork. Cohesion. The ability to work together. The team must be so embarrassed to see their mistakes. smacking into one another, accidentally tripping each other to allow the enemy to just shoot into a open goal. This will have to end. The Jovannic is better than that.

"We Feckin Sucked. That's that. We will improve." Ner Cheun said yesterday before leaving fuming.

We will have to improve on our next match.

The Journal of Rokuro "Rokit" Minami

Previous parts: 1 2
Squidroidia's score: 15-10 win over unranked Miltwell

March 7th, 2017
1 day after Showtime

To my surprise (Or should I say not very much to my surprise), nobody stopped the robosquids that day. As light dawned on Inkhalla, its residents fighting each other like savages, I was still very much alive and still very much not "controlled" by them. If anything I was still living a normal life... Problem is that my house totally burned down due to all of this, so I had to basically become homeless... As well as protecting myself from the occasional blue eyed human or Inkling that would occasionally attack me.

While I was laying down after exploring the tattered city I called home, I was approached by one of these Inklings. Those blue eyes were mindlessly following the commands of the fake Callie and fake Marie - Send them into madness. He would growl at my face, knowing that I wasn't under their control, and tried to attack me with a pounce. I, knowing nothing better, would be grabbed by this controlled squid and slammed my head into the ground.

As I tried to wrestle off of his grip, he would smack me, attempting to get my headphones off of my head. He talked in only growls and screams, a characteristic of all of those controlled by the androids. Slap. Slap. Slap. The pain lingered and intensified with every passing second. My face at this point turned red like blood. No blood did come out but it really did feel like some blood was escaping. But he still did hit me, and the pain continued.

The few minutes where I was being smacked felt like an eternity. When it did finally stop (Oddly enough by another one of the controlled, my face was totally numb and red. I couldn't feel a thing, and standing up felt like a chore. With enough effort, however, I would get up and make my way back to my home... All in its burnt glory. Before long however, an Inkling would bump into me. She had headphones too, and wasn't controlled as well.

"Oh hey there! My name's Suzuka. Who are you?" The girl would smile with her tentacles swaying in the wind of the dying fire. I would respond like I've always had: My name is Rokuro Minami...

"And this was my home. Unfortunately the squids just had to rule the world and drive someone so mad as to throw a damn Molotov through my window!"

"The squids...? You mean the Squidroid Sisters?"

"If that is who I'm talking about you need a cookie!"

"Yay! I love cookies!" And just like that I gave her what she wanted... A chocolate chip cookie to nibble on. Look at this little darling! So cute!

"Thank yoooou!" And she started to walk away... Well that kinda restored my heart.

Sylestone somehow beat #6 Sarzonia

Postby Sylestone » Fri Jul 03, 2020 5:12 pm

“Brilliant job. Just brilliant. Who would’ve thought? A win over Sarzonia! That’s our signal that we are a team to compete with.”
Coach.

Enfield, Chavel and Lax all played important roles in the victory. Sylestonean fans celebrated all night long but the national side kinks that although it is a huge victory, they’ve got to keep their concentration levels up as the game against Aimena will be pivotal.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF ABANHFLEFT
NATIONAL LACROSSE TEAM

This will be Abanhfleft's eleventh time participating in the World Lacrosse Championship, but this is also our first time hosting this competition. Has it really been ten editions since the Fleftics' debut? Time sure does fly fast. For reasons that can be simply summed up as "it's the best thing we've done in a while," the Democratic Republic sent forth their women's national lacrosse team for their first seven appearances in the competition. The women's team, led by the "Fearsome Threesome" of Menan Alrisheb, Fatima Alsambis, and Cecilia Cuvimi, managed to win third place in their first ever tournament WLC XIX, beating the Serbian Empire to nab the bronze from under the veteran nation's noses. They went on to win back-to-back titles in WLC 22 and WLC 23 before a miserable performance in WLC 24 saw them eliminated in the group stage, but they have come back to win it all once again in WLC 25 to set history as the first nation to win three titles in four attempts. It was then decided that it was time to switch things up, and so for the first time in WLC history, Abanhfleft sent forth a mixed team of men and women to play international lacrosse in WLC 30. And they came close, but were still unable to snag the ultimate prize, losing to the eventual winners Wrexwic in the final. Eventually, finally, Abanhfleft did pick up another title on home soil in WLC 32; unfortunately they were unable to defend it in WLC 33. Time to fix that mistake in WLC 34!

The history of lacrosse in Abanhfleft is both long and short, in that it has been in the country for a long time, but a concise summary of said history can be written down in just ten to fifteen sentences or maybe more. Lacross was introduced in Abanhfleft by vacationing Canadian college students and expatriates who missed playing the game. The first truly Fleftic lacrosse players came from association football and field hockey backgrounds, and these players played in seasonal lacrosse clubs to augment their salaries during their respective sports' offseasons. The first national lacrosse league in Abanhfleft was established in 1929, and was composed of 7 teams coming from the Capital Islands. The Fleftic national lacrosse league system adopted its current franchise format in 2001, with the National League (now called the Lacrosse League of Abanhfleft) separating itself from the pyramid and becoming an independent organization of its own right. The Fleftic Lacrosse Federation (Samahang Lakros ng Abanhfleft or SLA) was established in 1930 to manage the leagues, and to see to the creation of a national team. The Abanhfleft men's national lacrosse team played its first game in 1931, where they lost 1-0 to a team of Montreal college players.

1963 saw the first attempts to introduce women's lacrosse into Abanhfleft. Women's lacrosse had vastly different rules from men's lacrosse, and while these programs saw some success in the mid-sixties, Fleftic women decided that the rules of women's lacrosse were "too soft," and simply adopted the rules of men's lacrosse. When the women's national lacrosse team played its first games in 1969, they surprised many other teams with their extremely aggressive style of play, the likes of which were more usually seen in men's lacrosse games. This led to many incidents of broken legs, broken arms, broken ribs, broken jaws, and so on and so forth. Eventually, the SLA established another women's team, this one focusing on women's lacrosse rules. Teams playing Abanhfleft are well-advised to treat the women like men because the girls will certainly treat their opponents like Fleftic men.

They have won three World Lacrosse Championships, winning in WLC 22, 23, and 25. Starting in WLC 26, the team entered a rebuilding stage in which it maintained its ranking in the multiverse as much as possible without really challenging for the title. But in WLC 30, the SLA declared the rebuilding done, and the national team backed up this announcement with a deep playoff run that went all the way to the final, where they were unfortunately stopped by Wrexwic. But as had been said before, with Wrexwic now inexplicably out of the way, Abanhfleft sets its eyes once again on the gold. Will this team finally be able to win it? Or will they have to wait once again?

Colors: All white with blue, orange, and green stripes on the waistline and yellow numbers in a red circle (home kit); all red with yellow letters and numbers (away kit)
Style: Abanhfleft is an attacking team. The legacy of football and hockey players dabbling in lacrosse in its early days in Abanhfleft has resulted in a playing style that emphasizes getting the ball up front for chances to score. This, however, leaves the defense a bit thin, as at least two midfielders join the attackers in forays up to the goal, leaving behind only the defenders and the keeper. The midfield makes up for this by rushing back to their positions as soon as the opponents have acquired the ball.

[i]The picture once again fades in to the studios of Tikariot Sports Gazette TV, with the hosts of 'Lacrosse Night in Tikariot' Spencer Canmore and Trudy den Bakker ready to go.

Spencer Canmore: Good evening folks and what a game day two it has been at the 34th World Lacrosse Championships in Jeckland!

Trudy den Bakker: After winning their first game against The Jovannic 16 to 12, the Devil's Rejects, Lacrosse Division, faced off against Xanneria and ooh baby, what a feast it was for the Lacrosse fan! An incredibly strong defensive effort held Xanneria to only two goals, enabling the offense to give our boys and girls a clear 12 to 2 victory, helping us to gain a substantial lead over a non-playoff spot already!

Canmore: Our back four of goalie Clarissa Delacourt and defenders Kevin Storsgaard, Thomas Carrington and Nicolette Sherring were a true fortress and definitely has gotten the attention of the international Lacrosse community, but we should not forget that the rest of the team also played a great game, so the victory has never been in danger. As things are looking so far, Abanhfleft looks like our biggest opponent in the race for the group win as they managed to edge out Jovannic 15-13, leaving us with a better goal difference by ten goals already, which is a nice cushion for now.

den Bakker: We tried to get a brief interview with with either Coach Karzalka or some players, but the team management has requested to wait with any potential interviews until after the Abanhfleft team to give our players full focus and concentration on what could be an almost decisive game already.

Canmore: Both our baseball and lacrosse national teams are making international headlines, and for the right reasons at least, so let's cross our fingers that we can continue delivering good news to all of you at home in Tikariot!

den Bakker: We will see you tomorrow at our live coverage of the game between Tikariot and Abanhfleft and hope that you will tune in for all the excitement these World Championships, I personally can't wait to see how this continues! I am Trudy den Bakker.

Canmore: And I am Spencer Canmore for TSG TV.

Northwest Kalactin Pulls Win Against Cassadaigua
Well folks! That was a great win against the top-ranked Cassadaigua. They are a team that we would’ve expected to win on a regular day, but today the odds where in the favor of Northwest Kalactin. Of course, the offense couldn’t be seen very well this game, but the defense was present and well, showing the strength of the defense against a team who in the end, could not overpower the Kalactanian team. Cassadaigua though, despite being the top ranked team has shown much trouble against other teams in out group. They started out their tournament with a 10–5 loss to unranked host Jeckland. They still have Havynwilde to go, who is possibly the weakest team in this group, and is 1–1 just like the Kalactanians so far. Much relies on the results of tomorrow, as the Kalactanians could look to press for first place if they are able to beat the Jeckish team tomorrow. Havynwilde, on the other hand could claim a second place in the group if they are able pull out the game against Cassadaigua tomorrow.

Look at Other Groups
Group B
Lots of new up and coming teams in this group. Both Kohnhead and Maccian are teams that could soon see succes in the future, and the game between them was a nail-biter, which was sent to overtime. Baker Park should come away with this group.

Group C
With the team that could very well be one of the best in the world, Vangaziland in control of the group, there are not many surprises here. Natanians and Nosts is our current favorite to win second in this group right now, although the UCR has a chance at it also.

Group D
Huelaiva taking the group in the early stages is a large surprise, especially with one of the best teams, Banija holding a third place spot in the group. We do think though, that The Sarian will come out losers in this group, and Banija will grab second place.

Group E
World number one, St Saratoga holds a 1-1 record in this group, and the loss during MD2 against Terre Septentrinale is a huge surprise because of the rank difference between the two. They should come out with second in the group though.

Group F
With all 4 teams at a 1-1 record, this group is up in the air right now. Our favorites are Sarzonia and Lovisa, why do we think this? For one, Sarzonia has shown their power during AOLC, and we think that Louisa Will Win.

Group G
This group may be the highest scoring of them all, and it certainly showed the last MD, with a 23-17 game against West Phoenicia, and Lochario. If we have to be honest though, Squidroidia and West Phoenicia will be able to come out with the group.

Group H
In the final group, we have seen some very interesting and noticeable scores lately, especially a certain 12–2 game between Xanneria and Tikarot. 2 teams have now secured playoff spots right now, the only group in which that has happened so far.

So close.

A late burst by Abanhfleft left The Jovannic Trailing in the dust. The Cohesion had improved, but it was not to be as the team stepped out of the field dejected and distraught. They were met by the coaching team in the dressing room.

"So, we lost today. It is fine, sometimes results cannot be influenced by our actions. What we must do is focus on our next match. Xanneria is beatable, and we can beat them." Head Coach Usti Guinrti said when the team walked into the dressing room.

"Lads, we deserved to win today. But Lady Luck was not on our side. We will push on, and make sure we can win without depending on Luck!" Trainer Josh Ng said, slowly raising his voice.

There were murmurs across the room

"Do not say we cannot, for that is the obstacle preventing us from victory! Push lads, push for your pride!" Josh continued.

More murmurs, but it sounded much more optimistic

"Before we can beat others, we must beat ourselves! Make sure your doubt disappear! Make sure you are focused on victory and victory only!" He was now shouting.

There was a sudden outburst of shouting. It did not stop until a official came into the room to investigate the suspicious noises. The Jovannic were ready. They can win.

HUElavia Upset Banija in Historic Victory!

Banija 6-9 HUElavia

HUElavia entered Matchday 2 looking to build on their historic victory against The Sarian on Matchday 1. This time around, Los Amarillos/Os Amarelos faced off against Banija, #5 in the Rankings, who made it to the Quarter-Finals in WLC 33. This match saw a crowd come to Harding Lacrosse Stadium (13,500), where it was a 50/50 support for both teams in the stadium. Both teams fielded their best players, where Banija was looking to put the HUElavians aside with ease.

The match was not played to what Banija expected, as their heavy attacks left them vulnerable in the defense, which led to HUElavia scoring on counterattacks to hold a 0-4 lead by halftime. Ling, Sato, Hernandes and Torres all got the goals in the first half. For the second half, Banija eased off on their attacks and began to attack, getting goals from both Niang and Jallow to tie it at 4-4. Then, a see-saw match would be done, as the goals would be done by Razo, Bobbicevic III, Vincent, and Mendy to make it 6-6. As the match wined down, HUElavia had more strength and rest, as Mata would get two goals and Gomez with one in the final 3 minutes, as the match ended 6-9 (nice). The HUElavian crowd was happy and cheered with joy as they defeated one of the favorites of the tournament. Two games in and HUElavia had a 2-0 record and 6 points, a first in HUElavian lacrosse history.

The next match for Los Amarillos/Os Amarelos is against Mathuvan Union, a Pot 4 team that is unranked. Due to experience, HUElavia are considered favorites, but they will not take it lightly as they wish to continue their good run. The match will be held at Baker Street (50,000) in Panbury, where it is expected for HUElavians to flock to the stadium to support their team in what could be their 3rd victory in the group. Regardless of what happens, the fans and the nation are rooting for this team, and the team feels confident and happy with the tournament up to now.

FORCA HUELAVIA! VAMOS HUELAVIA! GO HUELAVIA!

Sylestone won yet another game in the World Lacrosse Championship, this time with a defensive-minded 9-7 win over 15th ranked Aimena. If Sylestone keeps this level of game up, then who knows how far they will go? After the first round, they sit in second place with two wins; one against the mighty Sarzonians and another against Aimena. Their loss was to fellow unranked side Lovisa. For Sylestone, Brianna ing scored three times and Will Lax four. Enfield once again played a brilliant game in goals.
"Fourth-pot team, am I right? We are in second place. If we keep this up, who knows how far we'll go. We've beaten Sarzonia, so you can never know. But for now, keep on doing what we are doing. We have Lovisa next and although they are the weakest team in our group, being unranked and all, we lost heavily to them last time. But we can do better. So let's get training, this is far from over yet." Will Lax, captain of the Sylestonean Lacrosse Team.
