(OOC: Late host bid is late but here anyway.)

COPPER CUPRUM
Host bid for the Rugby League World Cup XIX

About Copper Cuprum
Copper Cuprum is a tiny archipelago nation located deep in the murky divide between the Lazarus Ocean and the waters north of Esportiva. Copper Cuprum has long been isolated from international community due to its strange placement between two regions, and because the Copperite people have never really seen a reason to look beyond the horizon. Until 1914, that is, when strange metal ships appeared on the coast of the main island with men of different colors asking the natives about a ship that may have shipwrecked in the vicinity of their island. Those ships turned out to be part of a Fleftic Navy task force searching for the ship which carried the wife and daughter of President Rufus Wole Mensah of Abanhfleft. The Fleftic sailors landed on the island and discovered survivors of the shipwreck living alongside the locals, and among those survivors were both Salimah and Fatimah Mensah, the president's wife and daughter, and Fatimah had been been married to the ruler of the land, Chief Zed. Despite this though, Copper Cuprum still remained isolated until advances in technology made the island much more readily accessible.

Rugby league is the national sport in Copper Cuprum, and some would even dare to call it the national obsession. The Copperite Rugby League is the oldest sporting competition in the country, dating all the way back to 1937 when the "Original Eight" teams (Giants, Bantams, Broncos, Dragons, Eagles, Stars, Eels, and Raiders) came together and decided to form a national competition. Copper Cuprum has always hoped to eventually show to the rest of the multiverse their skill in the sport of rugby league, and thanks to the effort of Chief Deg and the Royal Commission on Games, Sport and National Well-Being, a bid for the Rugby League World Cup has finally been assembled and tabled.

Experience
As Abanhfleft, I have hosted the 20th Handball World Cup, the 5th Under-18 World Cup, NS Arena Bowl VI, and the 32nd World Lacrosse Championships. I have also hosted the Campionato Esportiva XXI through my puppets Fhulghamous Peninsula and Copper Cuprum. I also have a dedicated sports newswire and have scored a couple of seasons of rugby league for both Copper Cuprum and the APOC Coalition. However, this will be the first time that I will be scoring an NS rugby league tournament, but as always I hope this to be a great learning experience.

Scorination
I will use the latest version of Xkoranate. RP bonus will be generous and cumulative. Quality will be favored over quantity. The latest rankings will be used.

Format
There will be a group stage followed by a knockout stage. Following the trend of the most recent Rugby League World Cup, teams will be ranked based on the number of points they have accumulated in the group stage, with 2 points being awarded for a win, 1 point for a draw, and no points for a loss. In the event that there is a tie between two or more teams, here are the tiebreakers.

H2H results
H2H points difference
H2H goals for
Overall points difference
Overall points for

In the event that both teams are still tied after all of the tiebreakers have been exhausted, I will hold an actual playoff that will be considered part of the IC tournament.

The knockout stage will be single-elimination and will have a third-place playoff. Teams will be seeded according to group positions, then points and tiebreakers as necessary. No teams from the same group may face each other in the first knockout stage round.

Currently we have 28 teams which can be divided into four (4) groups of seven (7) teams each, which is a format that I have been able to work with in the past, but it is my preference to have 32 teams in order to use my preferred format of eight (8) groups of (4) teams each.

Feel free to ask any questions.

Overall a solid bid. I do have a couple of questions:

Which formula in xkoranate will you be using?

Some tournaments I've seen have avoided using goals/points for in their tiebreakers as this advantages those with higher style mods. What's your reasoning for including them?

I will use SQIS with xkoranate-style modifiers since this is the formula I have used for scoring the CRL.

In all honesty this is just force of habit for me because this is how I do my tiebreakers for my leagues. So far in the tournaments I have hosted I have not had to go that far down the tiebreaker list, but if others would like to not have it in the list then I am willing to change it.

I'm in. Only 3 acts have been documented, but we just made an exception to the no sports rule for Association Football, so we might as well make an exception for rugby.

Once the deadline for host bids to be proposed passes, there will be a vote on the host bids to select a host. That vote will last a few days and after that the timing of the tournament will fully be in the hands of the hosts. I'd estimate we're about two weeks out from the first match, give or take a few days.

Thank you to everyone who voted for me. At the moment, and taking into account the withdrawal of both Northwest Kalactin and their puppet, we are currently standing at 30 (thirty) signups. I would like to keep signups open a little bit more so that we can get to a nice and even 32 signups. Expect the everything thread to come up sometime in the next week.

Signed up as a puppet of Elejamie in an attempt to make this 32.
Obligatory wacky and "so random" puppet that you all know and are probably sick and tired of, brought to you by Elejamie.
