The Jecken Squidroidian Super League and Inklingcraft Challenge League

Matchdays 18-21

With 7 games left to go in the 2nd season of the Jecken Squidroidian Super League, the three horse race of Squidbreak, IFC and Real has devolved into a grudgematch between the eternal rivals. Even then the Squidbreak are holding onto a 6 point lead against their hated rivals, and even though the army team really, really want to do it then, it looks like they will win it before the final National Derby of the season on Matchday 27. Even though they had a good start to the season things in Tower Park aren't looking good as Real Squidroid aim to just hold onto their IFCF Challengers Cup berth due to a painful 1-4 loss in the Inkopolis Derby.

A 4 point gap exists from the final Challengers Cup spot, held by Tyranny Sports Club, to the promotion relegation spot, held by Starlight Boulevard. In between are Tractor Club Sawayama in 5th with Liu Huiying turning into a revelation for the club, and Calamari Wanderers who tussled their way out of the last place spot to 6th and still have a shot of returning to the Challengers Cup. Even though they can still technically win the league if major points are dropped across the board, Midnight Soccer Club, sitting on 20 points, will now have to focus on the fight to stay up.

Meanwhile in the Challenge League, it looks like it will be a 2 horse race between Club Factoria and Octo Valley FC. The 2 teams are only separated by 2 points at the moment, with Club Factoria holding onto the automatic promotion spot as the best of the 6 non-reserve clubs in the league. In 3rd place sit Squidbreak B, 8 points behind OVFC, who just keep adding onto their woes, and then in the 2nd promotion/relegation group spot are new boys Spartansburg City, leapfrogging TryHard Sporting to 4th place in the league after some impressive results. The bottom 3 are Weedpot, IFC B and Northport in that order.

Heading into the Semi-Finals at Inkopolis City Stadium, like the first edition of the Cup, there is 1 Challenge League team left and 3 Super League teams left. Midnight and Starlight will fight in the Sky Color Derby to decide who goes to the Cup Final to have a shot at the Cup Winners Cup next season. Weedpot FC are hoping to be the first Challenge League side to make the Final if they beat FC Squidroidia Squidbreak.

Matchdays 22-25

The Situation

With 3 games left to play for in the Super League season, 4 teams are still able to get their hands on the Squidroidian Shield. The Squidbreak sit on top of the table, 2 points ahead of their hated rivals Inkopolis FC, as the title could very well be decided at the final National Derby of the season on Matchday 27. But even then Tractor Club Sawayama and Real Squidroid have an outside shot at the title, and both need to go perfect in order to have a chance of going on top - Real has to win in the Inkopolis Derby on Matchday 26 to stay alive in the title hunt, while Tractor Club's biggest test will be a home match on the final day against the Squidbreak. Both scenarios require the top 2 teams in the table to lose both of their Matchday 26 fixtures and draw in the National Derby to be played at Squidroidia Armed Forces Park to even attempt a 4 horse title race on the final day.

5 points behind Real in the final IFCF spot are Calamari Wanderers and Tyranny Sports Club. The Flying Squids had their season fly straight into the sun with their incredible Challengers Cup run, as most of the squad was focused on trying to get their team out of a group stage that contained an Euraleague side. 3rd place in their group was amazing. 5th in the Super League? Not where they want to be right now as they hope to make a return to international club competition. Both teams are also in a scrap for relegation with Starlight Boulevard and Midnight, the latter eliminated from IFCF contention and just hoping their hated rival slips up in the home stretch to at least get them to the promotion/relegation group.

Down below in the Challenge League, the title fight between Club Factoria and Octo Valley FC is making Matchday 27 shape up to be a Super Sunday. OVFC, however, are 6 points ahead of Factoria, so the fight for the Challenge League title and automatic promotion could end if OVFC win and Factoria slip up on the 26th matchday. Other than that the other 4 non reserve clubs are all fighting for the last group and LBCT spot held by Spartansburg City. They are tied on points with IFC B in 4th and 3 ahead of their nearest challenger, the upstart Northport Meadows in 6th. Additionally they are 6 ahead of TryHard Sporting and 7 ahead of Squidroidian Cup finalists Weedpot FC, the latter 2 being underdogs for that final spot in the Promotion/Relegation Group.

The Situation
NOTE: Bold equals that the team's position cannot change after the final day wraps up

A crucial draw in the National Derby sees Inkopolis FC's hopes at lifting the Squidroidian Shield kept alive for the final day. The capital based club are 2 points behind their hated army team rivals but crucially have locked up participation in the FFI Liga dos Vencedores, their 2nd appearance in the competition after finishing 4th in their group this season. Crucially the IFCF teams are locked in place, with Tractor Club Sawayama and Real Squidroid heading to the Challengers Cup no matter what happens, but the battle is all about the FFI Taça das Confederações spot reserved for the 3rd place team.

On the other side of the table, the reassurance for the Wanderers is that they are not assured of relegation to the Squidroidian Challenge League. At 5th place with 34 points, they can't even get into the group! All they have to worry about is to play spoiler against Starlight Boulevard to send them down into the 2nd tier. Keep an eye on the bottom 3 spots, held by Tyranny, Starlight and Midnight - All 3 teams can still be relegated, and a win for Starlight against the Wanderers and Tyranny losing to Inkopolis FC means that Starlight can avoid even a chance of relegation on goal difference - And Midnight can go down by their lonesome no matter what happens against Real.

But in the Challenge League, the story has already been told. A Super Sunday win at home versus Club Factoria means that Octo Valley FC have clinched the Challenge League title and are automatically promoted to the Jecken Squidroidian Super League next season. Club Factoria don't have to fret though, as they are assured of making the Promotion/Relegation Group in 3rd place, behind Squidbreak B. Both teams also are assured of Liga B Champions Trophy qualification next season, which could help them get more money to spend on staying up. The battle for the final group and LBCT spot is a 3 horse race - Spartansburg City are only 2 points ahead of Northport Meadows and Squidroidian Cup finalists Weedpot FC, and can relinquish a chance to go to the Super League on the final day. The truth however is sealed for TryHard Sporting, as they are assured of 8th and last place. They can be proud of being in the promotion fight for a good chunk of the season however.

Matchday 28 - The Final Day

Hello to all Squidroidians and those watching around the world. My name is Takanaki Osa and welcome to today's final day coverage of the Jecken Squidroidian Super League and Inklingcraft Squidroidian Challenge League. Joining with me is 3sport's very own Rose Golden. Rose, how are you doing?

Oh I'm doing very good Osa. Robbie would be here if IFC actually won the title by now but considering that it is the final day, he doesn't want to be mad on national television.

And I understand that. Mind if I get into the 8 matches that are kicking off at the same time?

Go for it, it's your show. And I'm just a guest.

The title race between Inkopolis FC and the Squidroidia Squidbreak has gone down to the wire. The Squidbreak were as many as 8 points ahead of their fierce rivals at the halfway point but they have slipped up in this second half of the season. Now they have to go to an already IFCF qualified Sawayama team who have one of the hottest international players in the league right now - Yuezhou's 21 year old Liu Huiying. A draw that get them the Super League title unless the Nepharan duo of Rampart and Kalyvas can shuffle 13 goals past Tyranny Sports Club, who are fighting to stay up.

Speaking of Sawayama, the battle between them and Real Squidroid for Squidroidia's entry to the FFI Taça das Confederações is one to watch out for today. Real do also play a part in the relegation battle as well, as a win against Midnight Soccer Club can send them down to the second tier much to the joy of their rivals in Starlight Boulevard who sit level on points but ahead on goal difference, who have to play the Wanderers in Calamari County. Only 3 points separate the bottom 3 teams in the relegation pack, and a win for any of these teams can help them get out of the trapdoor before it's too late. ESPECIALLY if you're Midnight, who need Starlight to screw up against Calamari Wanderers knowing that you need to win against Real.

Going down to the Challenge League, the fight for the final Promotion/Relegation Group spot heads down to the final day, with 3 clubs able to clinch a Liga B berth and the chance to go up alongside OVFC. Club Factoria invite the 4th place Spartansburg City to town in a must win rivalry game for the new outfit, while Squidroidian Cup finalists Weedpot FC and Northport Meadows fight against each other to try to take Spartansburg's spot. The B teams also wrap up their seasons today, IFC B playing TryHard Sporting and Squidbreak B giving OVFC the guard of honor.

I think that's it, kickoff should be upon us, so the season has to end with a bang, right Osa?

It is certainly right Rose! And the balls are kicked, the final day is underway in Squidroidia!

'1 - Not a lot of action up and down the fields, as is expected in the first minute. Squidbreak tried to get a shot in on goal but missed terribly.

'5 - GOAL FOR NORTHPORT! The new boys take the lead against Weedpot, too high to comprehend that they have a chance at Super League promotion here! They're just focused on the cup final while Meadows have leapfrogged Spartansburg City!

'8 - It looks like our first Super League goal of the day is coming... GOAL FOR TYRANNY! No, no, no! Inkopolis FC are having a scare at home against a team in the scrap for relegation. This puts extreme pressure on the Inklings, the title could fall down the trash heap and down to the Squidbreak, extending their lead to 4 points!

'12 - GOAL FOR SPARTANSBURG CITY! Oh what a cracker from the Ironheads attack! This promotion group battle is getting intense here, they leapfrog Northport for that final Liga B spot!

It seems that the Challenge League is putting out quality today. Shame for the Super League, we all know who's winning there.

'13 - You are absolutely right Rose Golden. Rampart missed a crucial shot for the Inklings, just inches wide. Goal kick for Tyranny here. Squidbreak also on the ball, cross comes over...

'14 - GOAL FOR SQUIDBREAK! GOAL FOR SQUIDBREAK! They extend their lead at the top to 6 points! It looks like it's over at the top 2, we have to look at the group battle unless IFC and Tractor Club respond...

'20 - Ooof, high and wide from Liu! The Yuezhou international is being quite spotty here, she doesn't seem like the Liu we all know banging in those goals.

'26 - GOAL FOR FACTORIA! The cog is working overtime against their hated rivals, it's 1-1 at Mill Park! Spartansburg still hold on on goals scored compared to Northport...

'37 - Not a lot happening up and down the table, but we have a penalty for Real Squidroid! Jan McCory comes down, the Audioslavian seems hurt but it doesn't look too major, Katsuyoshi steps up for the kick... AND SLOTS IT! Real take the lead and unless something happens on Tractor Club's end the black, pink and green going to the Taca!

'45 - It's Halftime! What a start to the final day, Rose, what do you think about it?

Interesting start to say the least. This is Squidbreak's day, going 1-0 up against Tractor Club, your hated rivals losing to a relegation candidate, this is an amazing day for the SAF. I hope the momentum continues for them.

Seeemingly about the Super League, huh. And what about the Challenge League?

Let's face it, Spartansburg are going up if they win against their rivals. That's all they need to do to secure Liga B next season. Other than that, Northport is scaring the bejesus out of Weedpot, they're going to win this easily. It's basically going to come down to how Factoria/Spartansburg goes.

'62 - We have some subs coming on for Squidbreak - Tractor Club and IFC - Tyranny, but that's not what we're interested in, CLUB FACTORIA GO UP! With that Northport occupy the final spot, AND THEY SCORE AGAINST WEEDPOT AGAIN! 2-1 for Factoria and 2-0 for Northport! Spartansburg is crumbling today!

'89 - LATE GOAL FOR NORTHPORT! And it looks like the final spot for the Pro/Rel group is sealed! Northport are going to Liga B next season!

'90+1 - 2 of the most important stoppage times up ahead - 3 minutes for IFC to take the lead, 5 for Tractor Club to do something against the Squidbreak and let their title go to the capital.

90+2 - Jo Jun with the ball... Crosses over from midfield, RAMPART AGAIN... Oh dear. What a shambolic miss from the Nepharan. It's all over for Inkopolis FC...

90+4 - Full time from Inkopolis, the Squidbreak have won the Jecken Squidroidian Super League! But the trophy celebrations can't come yet, Tractor Club have seemed to given up but there is still football to be played!

90+6 - And it's full time from Sawayama, Liu Huiying can't do anything to turn the tide, Real are Taca bound!

What. A. Final. Day. I'm worried about Robbie, he isn't taking that miss well tonight.

Squidroidia Sepak Takraw Champions

Season 1 Liga Super ST Championships

The Squidroidian sepak takraw season traditionally ends with the Liga Super ST Championships, where the top 2 professional clubs duke it out against the world's best clubs for the right to be the Super Champion. This season, the 2 Grand Finalists, Inklingcraft Inkopolis and the Grand Final winning Calamari County Strikers traveled to Dachine to take part in the festivities.

The action started on the first day with the Strikers taking to the court. After a first regu where they comfortably beat Sharktail's Royal Beaver, they would lose a thriller 23-25 against them in the 2nd, before winning a nailbiter in the 3rd and final regu to win their first Liga Super ST game. The Inklingcraft Inkopolis squad, however, had their butts handed to them by Pemecutan's Westwind, losing both of the 2 regus and losing the 2nd in embarrassing fashion.

A much better 2nd day saw Inkopolis topple Acastanha's Tabieria Tiger Cub in 2 decent regus, but the action was in Feng Guo, where Eraman's Bakti Warriors lost to the Strikers in 3 regus. This put the Squidroidian champions tied on top of Group 1 with the eventual champions Kesatria United. Inkopolis, meanwhile, were tied in 4th in Group 3.

In Port D'Argent, Inklingcraft would once again beat a weaker opponent, this being Dynamic Town of Sharktail in 2 convincing regus, putting them 3rd in Group 3. However, the streak from the Strikers was sliced by the Vaanchai Borderline, champions of Acastanha, sending them tumbling to 3rd place.

At last the Strikers faced a real team in the form of Springmont's Emmacastle Eagle. Although they won the first regu 21-16 over the champions of Springmont, they would lose the next 2 regus and the game. However, host nation Dachine's Feng Guo Psavek, away from their home base, was no match for Inklingcraft, winning 2 regus including a 3rd which was down to the wire. Both teams were in 3rd place, Inklingcraft on 6 and Calamari County on 9, Inklingcraft with the same regu difference as the team in 2nd, being Westwind, and both teams tied on points with the 2nd place team in their group. Both teams are still alive heading into their final game of their groups.

Both Squidroidian clubs would lose, both 2 regus to 0, against both eventual finalists. For the Squidroidian champions, they lost to Kesatria United of Kayangan, the eventual Super Champions of Sepak Takraw, with the Strikers losing by 7 and 6 points respectively. Inklingcraft would bow out horribly, losing an embarassing 2nd regu to Taman Tunku Muda 5-21 to be eliminated. Both teams didn't make the cut to the Playoff Group and were sent packing.

Following an acquisition by the Northport Meadows SC football team, the team known as Northport STC has been renamed to Northport SC.
The Octo Takraw Club has changed its name to the OctoTak Club following the introduction of a new owner.

Squidroidian Amateur Leagues Season 1

Once upon a time there were 24 football clubs, all amateur owned and operated, nothing more than Sunday Pub League sides... And then the Squidroidian government got involved. Their promises - An organized system for the clubs to compete in (Complete with options to expand further should demand rise), subsidized costs for kits and pitch restoration, and the chance to compete in the Squidroidian Cup...

But until the clubs can start their season, a list of organized friendlies was made, each club getting 10 matchdays to set the field for the Divisions 1 and 2 season. Did I tell you that there was divisions to this?

With the 10 matchdays gone, the field for the upcoming season was set. Each division would have 12 clubs for at least Season 1, with the top 2 teams in Division 2 replacing the bottom 2 teams in Division 1. The main prize for Division 1 clubs, however, was participation in the Squidroidian Cup - The details were not explained beyond the fact that the top 2 D1 teams would qualify.

About Jecken
Jecken is a food conglomerate based in Jeckland, in the region of Esportiva. As the main suppliers of Jeckish Chicken, the national food of the nation of Jeckland, they have a major stake in football, including being the main sponsor of multiple teams throughout the multiverse. With Jecken penning a 5 season sponsorship with the Super League last season, they hope to develop the sport in the nation and provide youngsters with an opportunity to make the jump to other nations given their worth. Boxes of Jeckish Chicken will be served at all Super League venues.

FC Squidroidia Squidbreak

Nickname: The Squidbreak
Location: Takanori Army Base
Stadium: Squidroidia Armed Forces Park (30,000 capacity)
Last Season’s position: 1st in the Super League, Quarter-Finals of the Squidroidian Cup
International Competitions: IFCF Champions League, FFI Liga dos Vencedores
Expectations: Win the Super League

Imagine losing to a team from a nation named Hot Skitty on Wailord Action in the Taça. To some Squidbreak fans, it's something too embarrassing for their team. But of course, outside of international club competitions, the Squidbreak dominated the 2021 season, scoring the most goals in the league. However, their near collapse at the final hurdle is concerning for the team, not to mention many of the players poised to move on to greener pastures. The goal is still the same though - Beat IFC and hoist the title once again. They could even have a Champions League run if they're good enough.

Inkopolis FC

Nickname: The Inklings
Location: Inkopolis
Stadium: Inkopolis City Stadium (50,000 capacity)
Last Season’s position: 2nd in the Super League, Preliminary Round of the Squidroidian Cup
International Competitions: IFCF Challengers Cup, FFI Liga dos Vencedores
Expectations: Win the Super League

It seems like deja vu for the capital side. In 2020 they lost the title on the final day to the Wanderers, and last season, they drew with the Squidbreak to keep their title hopes alive in 2021, but blew it on the final day of the season. 2021 was a season of memories - Inviting Hronork to Inkopolis for both legs of their Challengers Cup preliminary round tie, signing 2 Nepharim players to bolster their roster, and of course getting to the Liga group stage only to tie twice. But now, in 2022, they need to not do it again. They need to kick the Squidbreak off of their bloody perch.

Real Squidroid CF

Nickname: Los Squidroids
Location: Inkopolis
Stadium: Tower Park (22,142 capacity)
Last Season’s position: 3rd in the Super League, Semi-Finals of the Squidroidian Cup
International Competitions: IFCF Challengers Cup, FFI Taça das Confederações
Expectations: Compete for IFCF competition

Compared to 2020, the 2021 season for Los Squidroids was much better. And although they didn't slip into the Cup Final again, losing on the penultimate hurdle to the Wanderers, Jan McCrory was the perfect star of their show, squeezing their way into the Taça on the final day to cap off another historic season. For 2022, they hope to get back to the IFCF spots and maybe challenge for the title, depending on how much their opposition cracks up. They are known for chaos after all, and if it means that they will get more Thursday nights, they will cause lots of it.

Tractor Club Sawayama

Nickname: The Farmers
Location: Sawayama
Stadium: Tractor Arena (18,000 capacity)
Last Season’s position: 4th in the Super League, Quarter-Finals of the Squidroidian Cup
International Competitions: IFCF Challengers Cup
Expectations: Finish Midtable

One name. Liu Huiying. The Yuezhou international which the Farmers cashed in for free last season became a revelation, taking Tractor Club to international club competition for the first time in their history. She earned her place in the national squad for a reason - She carried her side on her back throughout 2021, and even beat IFC in the Cup to boot. Like Tyranny before them, they want to savor the chance as much as they can, as they could get knocked out in the very first round. Same deal as before, finish in the middle of the pack, nowhere near relegation, and hope the young girl gets herself and her team more glory in the long haul.

Calamari Wanderers CFC

Nickname: The Flying Squids
Location: Calamari County
Stadium: County Stadium (27,830 capacity)
Last Season’s position: 5th in the Super League, Squidroidian Cup winners
International Competitions: IFCF Cup Winners Cup
Expectations: Challenge for the Super League title

Pundits did expect this team to make a deep run in Champions League qualification... They absolutely did not expect the Flying Squids to make the Challengers Cup GROUP STAGE. To be fair nobody did - They came in and proved that they can hang with the big boys. Marine Coast United, Sporting Esper, Bastion AND Ulsa were beaten by them during their historic run, and this has allowed the team to splash the cash during the transfer window, especially because of the scare they had in the league, teetering on the edge of an historic relegation. This could end in 2 ways. An exodus of talent or more superstars challenging for the Shield.

Oh yeah, and they won the Cup too. Time for a CWC run of their own.

Tyranny Sports Club

Nickname: The Tyranny
Location: Ichimoto
Stadium: Tyranny Arena (16,263 capacity)
Last Season’s position: 6th in the Super League, Preliminary Round of the Squidroidian Cup
International Competitions: None
Expectations: Avoid relegation

This crime syndicate of a football club didn't really have a run like it did 2 seasons ago. Last season they were right and truly in a dogfight for relegation, but they don't look so hot coming into this new season. Tyranny need to go gangbusters in order to stay up, and especially with trying to keep their international. Let's face it - This team won't break back into IFCF competitions, and will not get themselves the bounty that is the title. They need to hold onto their status in the league, and they need to do it now.

Starlight Boulevard FC

Nickname: The Boulevard Boys
Location: Starlight
Stadium: Sunrise Park (17,000 capacity)
Last Season’s position: 7th in the Super League, Semi-Final of the Squidroidian Cup
International Competitions: None
Expectations: Avoid relegation

They just had to finish just above their rivals in Midnight. Shame was that they finished above them at that unfortunate position that Midnight went down and Starlight had to go through the promotion/relegation group to stay up. It turns out that they did stay up, and they now have a real test on their hands for 2022. With their youth side winning the Youth League, they at least have their Sunrise Park open for international competition. They would probably be unlucky because of that, because everybody knows a tired bunch of youngsters ain't going to get your team so hot in Da Hood.

Octo Valley FC

Nickname: The Octolings
Location: Octo Valley
Stadium: Octavio Stadium (10,000 capacity)
Last Season’s position: 1st in the Challenge League, Preliminary Round of the Squidroidian Cup
International Competitions: IFCF Liga B Champions Trophy
Expectations: Avoid relegation

At long last, the Octolings have gotten themselves into the Super League. The team that missed out on the 2020 season by a couple of goals once again lifted the Challenge League title, much more comfortably than they did in 2020. With the team going back to Liga B, where they missed out on the group stage on the last hurdle, the team needs to prepare for the challenges ahead in the Super League. To be completely honest, relegation should be the most of their worries. They will probably be knocked out of Liga B early like last time, so there shouldn't be a problem with them focusing on the Cup and League. The only problem, is of course, surviving the drop.

Inklingcraft was founded as the main automobile company in the nation of Squidroidia, but has transferred over to providing public transportation like buses and light rail. The Inklingcraft Monorail is the crown jewel of the company, as it serves the entire city of Inkopolis and provides easy transport for Squidroidia's disabled citizens. Inklingcraft provides transportation for teams to and from their Challenge League games and are the main kit sponsors of the Inkopolis FC and FC Squidroidia Squidbreak B teams.

Agony, thy name is Midnight Soccer Club. Having reached the Final of the Squidroidian Cup last season, things were supposed to be easy in terms of staying up. But of course, Midnight had no fun (If you don't count their ice hockey team the Mauds, who won the Icesquid Cup). Before long they were staring down automatic relegation, traveling away to Real Squidroid. You know what happened next. Katsuyoshi slots a penalty in the first half, and the ream doesn't respond. In the blink of an eye, Midnight was outraged. They went down, they know they did. And their rivals stayed up by the skin of their teeth too! One thing has to be clear - They want to get back to the promised land to drench the Boulevard Boys once again.

The cogs have seemingly calmed down for Factoria after the promotion/relegation group. The name of the game last year was attack attack and of course beat Spartansburg at their own game. The latter they did well, finishing 14 points ahead of Sburg City when the season wrapped up, but as for the latter... They were the 3rd worst team at scoring goals not named TryHard Sporting. Otherwise known as being bang average. Like last year they seem to be more so hoping that their defense does the work, as they conceded the 2nd least goals of any team in the Challenge League not named TryHard Sporting. Like Midnight, Factoria needs to get into position to win the league and gain automatic promotion. Oh yeah and they can do it in a shitty shirt.

Northport Meadows SC

Nickname: The Herders
Location: Northport
Stadium: Meadowlands Park (7,000 capacity)
Last Season’s position: 5th in the Challenge League, Final of the Squidroidian Cup
International Competitions: IFCF Liga B Champions Trophy
Expectations: Finish midtable

On today's episode of Final Day Shenanigans... Well, let's not get into talking about Spartansburg's slipup just yet. To be honest, the SFA is the only one to know that a 5th place team can have a chance of getting to the Super League. The minnows of Northport, a close-knit town in Squidroidia, actually have international football to play for this preseason. Herding up final day heroics at Weedpot to clinch a spot at promotion (Along with you know what by now), the Herders know that Liga B football will take a toll on their season and not allow them to do heroics once again. A midtable finish is something that would be greatly appreciated. And yes, don't expect them to make another Cup final.

Spartansburg City

Nickname: The Ironheads
Location: Spartansburg
Stadium: Ironworks Arena (15,000 capacity)
Last Season’s position: 6th in the Challenge League, Quarter-Finals of the Squidroidian Cup
International Competitions: None
Expectations: Achieve promotion by winning the promotion group

Remember that 4-0 friendly win they had against Midnight? Expect that to NOT happen this year. But of course, this isn't the time to talk about friendlies that happened in 2021, this is the time to acknowledge that Spartansburg were shambolic on the final day and gave up their promotion/relegation group spot to freaking Northport. Not only that, but it was against their rivals in Club Factoria. They choked so hard in a rivalry game that Factoria won't ever shut up about it, even if they win the Champions League. But of course, that isn't going to happen for a while. Everybody has to start melting steel by melting tin, and going to the Super League will help Spartansburg melt the tin.

Weedpot FC

Nickname: The Dank
Location: Weedpot
Stadium: Marijuana Place (4,200 capacity)
Last Season’s position: 7th in the Challenge League, Quarter-Finals of the Squidroidian Cup
International Competitions: None
Expectations: Achieve promotion by winning the promotion group.

Sad smokes of dank aside, Weedpot were, in every sense of the word, a palling last season. How does a team go from nearly winning the Challenge League title to finished last in teams in the Challenge League not named TryHard Sporting? Well for one thing, they blew it against, you guessed it, NORTHPORT. The SFA should be changing the league's name to the Northport Squidroidian Challenge League... But aside from that, getting over it won't be too easy for Weedpot unless they can get their smoking habits together this offseason and have a workable team. Maybe then would they try to get to the Super League. Of course, seeing as it's Weedpot, everything will go up in smoke...

TryHard Sporting

Nickname: The TryHards
Location: Inkopolis
Stadium: TryHard Park (3,500 capacity)
Last Season’s position: 8th in the Challenge League, Preliminary Round of the Squidroidian Cup
International Competitions: None
Expectations: Stay competitive

They would fit so well in Ko-oren. Such a defensively minded team, only scoring 9 goals and conceding 17, having their best player screw off to dominate South Newlandia and the national team, and of course losing in the Preliminary Round. Things can't go smoothly for THS. Stuck at the bottom of the league of every stat besides teams named TryHard Sporting, not even singing Farf amateurs can help them gain traction in the league. This team is dead in the water, and only a healthy takeover can help them get to the promised land. You know what? Let's see what Çè Melerçêl does this time. Because it sure as hell ain't scoring week in week out.

The Squidroidia Lacrosse Premier League Season 2

THE FORMAT

The Squidroidia Lacrosse Premier League, or SLPL, is Squidroidia's top flight domestic lacrosse league, with no promotion or relegation involved. Conceived as part of the army lacrosse system, the sport of lacrosse developed a large enough following after the Squidroidian National Team nearly made the knockout stages of the 34th World Lacrosse Championships in Jeckland. The Squidroidian Lacrosse Association, or SLA, formally broke away the top 16 army teams in the closed off SLPL to form a public league, housing Squidroidia's top lacrosse players and giving them a proving ground for national team callups.

With 16 teams, each team plays 15 games at "home" in Inkopolis and 15 games at smaller cities in Squidroidia, odd matchdays being in Inkopolis and even matchdays being across Squidroidia. Teams are given 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw (Since there is no overtime in the main season) and none for a loss. The top 8 teams after the 30 games play in the SLPL Playoffs, with the semi-finalists qualifying for the IDLO Champions Cup. The Quarter-Finals and Semi-Finals will be held in TryHard Park in Inkopolis, and the Finals will be held in Tower Park in Inkopolis. This is due to the reemergence of the IDLO after a hiatus.

THE TEAMS

Inkopolis Dragons - The biggest lacrosse team in Squidroidia, thanks to them Inkopolis is designated as the home city of the SLPL.
Krakencrosse - Imagined as a bunch of hard fought men playing lacrosse (Hence the name), this team is one of the most attack-heavy in the league.
Lacrosse Dinos - Otherwise known as the "L Dinos", they are consistently the worst team in the league.
Leaping Leopards - This team is about acrobatic plays. A Leopards goal that doesn't involve an air stunt is considered sacriledge.
Manticores - Redefining "Running the Guantlet", Manticore players will try anything to get the ball.
Net Nightingales - Otherwise known as the Net Gales or just the Gales, they wear attractive purple kits.
Scotts Club - A team built by the community of Octo Valley (Where Lacrosse is often called Scotts), this team is known literally as Lacrosse Club.
Squidroidia Vikings - The team with the most fan support in the SLPL and regularly draw in big crowds.
Team Blue - They just play in blue. Meh.
Team Valiant - This team is often known as the V and always line up in photos in a V shape.
Ten Fearless - Named after the 10 men on the field in lacrosse, they never say die.
The Arches - No, this isn't a fast food reference, this team is named after the 50 foot arches just outside of Inkopolis.
The Argiles - This team's name is based on Agile and Arduous, and are nicknamed the Arduous Agiles.
Whacking Wisps - The wisp is the primary symbol of this orange-wearing team and is primarily featured on their helmets.
White Imps - They're white for a reason.
Wings - Often sponsored by Squidroidia Airlines, they often take aircraft to get to their games.

A look at the tables

As the first quarter of the Super League season comes to an end, as per Squidroidian tradition, the 8 clubs are everywhere. Sitting on top of the table is someone who you would expect - Real Squidroid, Los Squidroids themselves, the only team in the league still unbeaten, mainly due to a huge win in the Inkopolis Derby. However, 2nd place is worth noting. Somehow, Tyranny Sports Club are 3 points behind Real, occupying the 2nd FFI Liga dos Vencedores spot. Led by 2 complete unknowns in Applebee and Heckie, they have managed to cause chaos within the league. Inkopolis FC are in 3rd and currently occupy the Taca dos Confederacoes spot and are deep in the groove of a Liga dos Vencedores campaign, and Tractor Club Sawayama hold the final IFCF spot. Calamari Wanderers and defending league champions FC Squidroidia Squidbreak are in 5th and 6th, and are looking for a comeback before the first half ends, while newly promoted side Octo Valley FC have been cutting their chops and are in 7th in the Pro/Rel group, having beaten the Squidbreak, drew with the leaders in Real and lost a close game against Inkopolis. That leaves Starlight, lowly Starlight with only 2 points in 8th. 5 points behind Octo Valley.

The end of the FFI Liga road for Inkopolis FC and their hated rivals is nothing more than the end of the FFI road for IFC. If you thought their embarassing 2 points last goaround was bad, think again. They didn't even win or draw a game this group stage. Only 5 goals scored, and 19 went through goalkeeper Kugo Norihide. The most embarrassing group stage performance in Squidroidian history.

Meanwhile, the Squidbreak went and only topped their group, their only loss coming against Sporting Cenesis away from home, and their only draw was against Fingander United from Springmont. 12 goals scored, 5 conceded, 13 points. They are the first Squidroidian team to advance to the knockout stage of an FFI or IFCF competition.

A look at the tables

At long last, the Super League and Challenge League are halfway there to deciding who wins who - Who wins the Super League and who goes down and who goes up from the Challenge League. The Calamari Wanderers have had a resurgence - One year on from going down with a case of nearly in relegation, they are once again top of their perch on 24 points, 3 points ahead of Real Squidroid. But once again the Super League has been proven to be bonkers halfway through. The points between Real in 2nd and Tyranny, in the final non-pro/rel spot in 6th... Is 3 points. Everybody is on thin ice - FC Squidroidia Squidbreak sit in 3rd, 1 point behind Real, while Inkopolis FC, Tractor Club and Tyranny all have 18 points and are separated only by the sheer power of their teams in terms of attack and defense. And even then Starlight Boulevard, in 7th, and Octo Valley, occupying the automatic relegation zone, are 5 and 6 points behind 2nd place respectively. That's what the Super League is - A pure madhouse.

Meanwhile down in the Challenge League, the good news is that THS aren't fighting for promotion - They sit in 7th place, only 1 point behind the miserable Midnight Soccer Club who occupy last place. However, just like the Super League, the title and promotion races are completely insane. First and second place, Squidbreak B and Factoria, both have 24 points, and Northport, Weedpot and Spartansburg are all 3 points behind them, with Northport and Weedpot occupying the other 2 pro/rel spots. Annnd IFC B are 5 points behind the top 2. You have 2 choices when you stick with the Challenge League - Either THS fight for promotion to the top flight, or you get sheer madness, never knowing who the hell is going to win until the home stretch of a hard time.
