One More Upset Away From Victory
ISTRIA, Bnj.—Today, Aqual's new national idols progressed to the championship match of the Istria Open after pulling off yet another upset against Sharktail's Izzat Manson and George Fakhrul, the seventh seeds in the doubles draw. Details from this highly exciting, tight match below.

izzat manson/george fakhrul (SHT) 5 7 4
Bartolo Sabanero/Qualo Tabos (AQL) 7 6 6

The match began with all four players holding their serves with relative comfort, before George Fakhrul serving at two games all faced fierce opposition from the Aqualias' fierce return and aggressive rallies. However, after four deuces and fending off two break points, the Sharktail team managed to hold serve shakily. In fact, they returned the fire back onto Tabos' serve with strong forehand returns right back to his feet and several passing shots which Sabanero could not reach gave Manson and Fakhrul the first break at 4-2. Sharktail then managed to repeat their previous comfortable success on serve earlier in the set with a hold for 5-2. At that point, it began to seem like the set was nearing its close, as the Aqualias would need to win five straight games to come back and win it, as well as three straight just to stay in it at all. However, they were determined to not give up so easily, and they won the following service game with conviction at 40-15 to stay "in it to win it," as the saying goes. They then managed several cross-court passes which neither opposing player could reach for clear winners building up to a break back for 5-4. With Tabos again serving, he clearly learned from his mistakes, giving the Sharktail players less of an opportunity for easy returns by mixing up his angle, pace and spin, providing him with one ace sliced to the inside of the T as well as several easy hits to put the set back on serve. With Manson serving, Tabos managed to attack the shot after the return from his position near the net (this tournament has certainly highlighted his skills as a volleyer). Combined with Sabanero forcing errors from topspin groundstrokes at the baseline, they again managed to break serve and go up for the first time at 6-5. This same style of play was key to Sabanero's next service game, with Tabos always at the net ready for the Sharktail return, and they won decisively in that game to claim the set 7-5.

In the next set, the Aqualias continued to pressure Fakhrul's serve with the same strategy, breaking early in the second with the momentum from winning the first. They were forced to change strategy in the following game, however, with Tabos serving, but this adaptation seemed to help keep the Sharktail team guessing, leading to a 2-0 lead. Finally, Manson managed to end the Aqualias' seven game run, holding after the first deuce with the aid of some forced errors. Sabanero and Tabos fell back to their so successful strategy in the next game and once again won with Sabanero serving to maintain a 3-1 lead. This cycle repeated itself during the middle part of the set, with all four players again managing to hold serve as they had done at the beginning of the match. Then, with Sabanero serving for the match at 5-3, his normally solid serve faltered under the pressure of attempting to close out a semifinal match with not only the many Aqualias present in the Istrian crowd but also the many millions back home watching. After breaking, Fakhrul held serve with a reinvigorated spirit to go even for 5-all. However, determined not to hand over the set, Tabos managed a very impressive service game of his own to force Manson to serve to stay in the set, which he did successfully to force the set to a tiebreak. There, the Aqualias' nerves were obviously high, and they managed only three points while putting up five unforced errors to give the Sharktail team the set 7-6(3).

Although other players might become dejected after losing the set in such a manner, Sabanero and Tabos instead became much more passionate, breaking Fakhrul's serve to love. However, doing so in turn gave reason for the players from Sharktail to also raise their level, which they did to break back in the following game before holding on Manson's serve to lead 2-1. They then repeated their aggressive returns to Tabos' serve seen in the first set to break again for a 3-1 lead. With Fakhrul serving, the tables had completely turned on the Aqualian players—going from being up 0-40 a few games ago to now being down 40-0. Although they managed to rebound somewhat by staving off two game points, the Sharktail team ultimately won on the third to extend their lead to four games to one. With Manson and Fakhrul looking for a double break to all but seal their ticket to the finals, the old Aqualian strategy with Sabanero serving and Tabos at the net proved yet again to be too much, and they held for 4-2. The so-called "crucial seventh game" once again showed that it is a term not to be brushed off as mere folly, with Sabanero and Tabos finally turning around their return game, restoring what it looked like towards the end of the first set and beginning of the second. They managed to break back with two winners and two forced errors to really pull themselves back into the match. With new momentum serving at 4-3, Tabos' serves expertly manipulated the opponents into returning the ball right into Sabanero's wheelhouse at the net. The Sharktail team seemed almost surprised that they all of a sudden found themselves tied at four games all; Fakhrul's serve lost its usual touch and he even double faulted twice in that game to give the Aqualias the chance to serve out the match at 5-4. And serve it out they did, with Sabanero's powerful serves and groundstrokes complementing so well Tabos' expert technique and instincts at the net. An incredibly close and meaningful 7-5, 6-7, 6-4 victory.

At their post-match interview, Qualo Tabos, when presented with a question regarding the significance of advancing to the finals by a Toboso Chronicle reporter, responded that "coming into this tournament, not much was expected of us, and, to be honest, we never really could have expected this ourselves. It is truly surreal to be in the finals of our very first international tournament with the opportunity to play against incredible players for the championship tomorrow."

We hope that you will, in fact, join us for that championship match tomorrow, with live video, radio and updates all on our website as Sabanero and Tabos face off against the highest seeded team from Pemecutan, who have performed exceptionally well this tournament, dominating their last match against the thirteenth seeds who had themselves been playing well, dropping only two games. Throughout the entire week, Komang Antari and Kadek Andreawati have not lost a single set. Sabanero and Tabos hope to change that tomorrow, though, and if they are able to maintain the momentum they had during their respective seven- and five-game runs during the early and late parts of the match today for the entirety of their match tomorrow, they may be able to do just that and pull off yet another stunning upset.

CHAPTER 8
THE END OF THE BEGINNING

The new Eraman tennis icon, Batera Siwara performance has been impressive so far. But the tournament favourite, Ngurah Putra Muliawan proved to be a class above him. The much more experienced player went on to the final by defeating Batera Siwara, 6-4, 6-3 to confirm a blockbuster all-Melayu Archipelago final with Naim Alex from Sharktail.

The defeat of Batera Siwara marks the end of Eraman journey in the Istria Open. But make no mistake; it's only the beginning for tennis in Eraman. The new management of the national governing tennis body has promised that they will continue to send players to international tournaments and Batera Siwara too will be in Beconailles for the next NSTT tournament, Championnats Nationaux de Reçueçn de Tennis to prove that he is not a one-tournament wonder.

Adios Istria.

To get this far in a tournament like this, takes grit, skill, and preseverance. Everyone at this stage has the heart to win. But not everyone can call themselves a champion. Who will be able to call themselves champion after the final cutoff of the Istria Open?

The First Andromedans arrive in Beconailles

Postby The Andromeda Island Group » Thu Jun 18, 2020 4:13 pm

Just outside of Beçonailles, Reçueçn
The weekend before the Tournament

Heather Long arrived in town a few days earlier. This was her first tournament outside of the Allied States and she decided that she would get used to the town while it was still very much a sleepy town. The atmosphere would be very different in a few days when many of the tennis greats of the NS Universe would gather for the official draw to be announced.

This would be Long’s third day of running to the stadium. She was currently the only guest at a nice little hotel within sight of the tennis grounds. The other Andromedans would arrive in the next few days, taking up half of the rooms. She would meet Catherine James and Khadijah before noon.

Heather’s idea of taking an easy day was leaving the hotel room just before 7am and running to the tennis grounds. She ran to the far end of the tennis grounds and cut through on her way back. Before getting back to her room, she would stop and get a light breakfast from a shop across the street from her hotel.

When she got back, she turned on her computer and started playing the Andromeda Sports Connection podcast from the previous night. As it played, she would take a shower and get ready to take a long walk to train station before her friends arrived.

Most everyone in Andromedan tennis circles agreed that Heather Long was perhaps the most durable of the current crop of Andromeda tennis players. She has been playing at the professional level in the Allied States since she was 16 years old. She has been among the three best players in the ASTA for the past decade. Before Catherine James stepped on the scene, Long and Kendra Jackson were the two best players in their region.

Long gets out of the shower and changes into a loose sun dress before checking to see when the train would arrive. She would walk there and meet her friends before they moved all of their things into the hotel. Compared to most of them, Long liked to travel light.

As long walked leisurely along the avenue, she listened to the local sports station, listening for the finals of the Istria Open in Banija. She eventually found out that the winners, Putra Muliawan in singles and Antari/Andreawati in doubles, were all Pemecutans. She’d read up on them when she got back.

Long has brushed up on her French, which she hadn’t used much since University. She was fluent, but rusty. Some of her family spoke a dialect of French from a northern part of the Allied States. She doubted that many of her colleagues spoke French at all.

Long arrived at the train station just a few minutes before James and Sims would arrive. She started to look up the previous winners in Recucen when the train pulled up. Sims emerged from the crowd first. She had apparently travelled light, carrying just two small cases, one of which likely contained her racquet. Sims and James, like many Andromedans, were hard to place racially.

James came out carrying two cases. One of the cases was huge. James had already written to her fans that she had been shopping in Geneve a few days before coming in. They both walked over to Long.

“So, what should we look forward to,” James asked Long.

“It’s been mostly quiet. The expensive places won’t be filling up for a couple more days.”

“Is the hotel far,” Sims asked. The group walked over to what looked like a taxi stand.

“I just walked from there. It’s not far.”

“Don’t listen to her, Khadijah. To Heather, ‘not far’ could be at least two hours.”

“Well, two hours for us might be 35 minutes with feet like hers.”

Heather Long has enormous feet. They don’t make women’s shoes in her size in the Allied States. She walked barefoot from the hotel.

“Let me…”

Sims spoke to the taxi driver in fluent textbook French. She has spent most of her impressionable years in World Assembly Territory and was fluent in several languages. She yelled over to Long and James. Long tried to reply only to find that, to her surprise, James spoke French also.

“What? My mother’s people are from Valois State.”

Long didn’t know that she and James both had relatives from Valois State who spoke French. Valois was perhaps the only place in Andromeda where people spoke French and English.

The three ladies got in the taxi and headed to the hotel. The rest of the Andromedans would arrive before the announcement of the official draw in a few days.

Participants from Waisnor in Championnats Nationaux de Reçueçn de Tennis

Valery Ushakov is 27 years old, he plays with his right hand. Valery is somewhat similar to Maximillian Pronichev - he has strong blows, but Ushakov’s accuracy is better than Pronichev’s.

Artyom Malakhov is 22 years old, He plays with his right hand. Artyom is notable for his speed, so it’s a little harder to beat than other players from Waisnor.

Alexey Pustozеrov is 24 years old, he prefers to play with his right hand. A distinctive feature of Alexey is the accuracy of innings. But there can be problems with strength - sometimes it even got into the net)

Yevgeny Kondratenko is 22 years old, and Oleg Vlasov is 27, both play with their right hand. Their distinguishing feature is the coordination of work in pairs.

SHARKTAIL POST EP 16
THE REAL CLAY BATTLE BEGIN

The end of Istria Open, the real Clay court battle starts. In tier 2 Istria Open, mostly will be used as the stage for all the nation to try out their player, debut their youngster and also grab some point. With the limit to the player under 500 points for single and 1000 point for double to enter, it surely the best stage to test youngster. But back to tier 1, the top ranker has returned back to the court. Its time for them to show their quality.

Sharktail, a small country with 5 million population have made some hot topic past few months in the tennis community.NSTT back with their 6th season. Sharktail has actively participated in this tour. Start from hardcourt season until now entering the clay-court season. Still left grass season and indoor season in NSTT calender. However, Sharktail surprisingly performed well in the hardcourt season and also in the start of the clay-court season. But something important we have to review. In grand slam and tier 1, their performance just so so but so far they have been good in tier 2 tournament. Is Sharktail player only capable in low tier tourney and doesn't have any quality in top tier tournament? What foolish enough some people have made an analysis using Sharktail and Pemecutan. They have listed a statistic that they collect from the data of tennis achievement from both countries. They got a lot of critics from tennis fans. All know how serious and good Pemecutan in Tennis development. They have their own world-class structure starting from youth academy until their top player. While Sharktail a mere country who just started their tennis development, make some good progress, getting some good achievement past few months, don't waste your energy and time trying to compare these two countries. Not just want to mention pemecutan the other country like Electrum, Kohnhead and even a small country, Sharktail maybe just a fly who luckily survive from being hit by the racket. Will this fly survive in reccuen and continue flying to Electrum for Hamilton International or will it meet the end of life, let just wait and see.

The first female professional Tennis player from Sharktail Diana Jansen once again put her name as one of the contester in this tournament. Getting eliminated in the first round of Istra Open vs Herman Darwisa from Eraman, her quality start being judged by all fans. Is she good enough for International level? Or just put her name to fill the quota for every country. She now has a tough way in Reccuen, have to play in qualifier, with everyone doubting her skill, will she be able to remain calm and play well, the qualifier game will be the answer. This time she not just enter for a single event but also double event pair with Bahari Zack. Isaac Daud has been dropped from double pair. They have a high target to go far in this tourney. Let hope they able to do that. She will facing Jessica Moreaux from krytenia in the qualifying round.Let cheer for her.Let win.

Kohnhead players prepare for Reçueçn

The first tier 1 tournament of the clay season will take place at Beçonailles in Reçueçn for the Championnats Nationaux de Reçueçn de Tennis. Kohnhead fans will get to see, Kohnhead #1 Mindy Waterford play her first international clay tournament due to her being too good for the tier 2 tournament in Istria. Let's meet the competitors from Kohnhead

Mindy Waterford
Rank: 16

Mindy Waterford has ambitious goals for the clay season after a stunning start to her NSTT career at Kinterten and then at Steinigestrasse where she made the finals. She will not have to play in to the round of 16 and her first match will be against the winner of Felipe de la Rosa and Maria Crown where she will be the heavy favorite. On a side note she is the highest ranked player to have not competed at the Electrum Open which is the only Grand Slam that we have gotten to so far.

Theresa Waterford
Rank: 25

Mindy's twin sister Theresa will come into this hot after making it to the semifinals at Istria. She played mistake free throughout before a loss to Naim Alex from Sharktail in the semis in two sets. Of course a tier 1 will mean more competition but Theresa is ready for it. Theresa will have to play in the round of 96, preliminary round where she will take on the winner of Austin McDanielson vs LeMond Kames, where she will be favored against both. She is the second highest ranked player to have not competed at Electrum second of course to her sister.

Rodrick Uppatin
Rank: 48

Uppatin is coming off of a round of 16 loss at Istria to the overall winner Ngurah Putra Muliawan in a not very close two set affair. Considering that was only Uppatin's second tournament he has done quite well. Now he has only competed in tier two tournaments up to this point so seeing him compete at more important ones will be something to watch for. He will take on Jeff MaName in the qualifying rounds before if he wins facing Taylor Bates in the round of 96. Uppatin has a tough road ahead.

Bartholomew Pole
Rank: 108

The former Kohnhead #1 has not had a very good start to his NSTT career. At Istria he suffered a loss to Marco Vrient in the round of 64 to continue his struggles. His backhand has not been up to par, and his rank even dropped six spots following Istria. There is still time to turn it around and that starts here at Beçonailles. He got lucky and does not need to play his way into this tournament and instead will face Acteus Linna in the round of 96.

Spencer Kohnhead/Bradley Kohnface
Rank: 51

These two performed pretty well at Istria, making it to the quarterfinals which meant they won three games. They haven't really broken through yet and the top double from Kohnhead has had trouble making it past quarters at tier 2 tournaments. This will be the last clay tournament they are a pair for as the two will be going mixed doubles with players from Electrum (Jack Ho, and Marcus Hathwar) in the two future clay tournaments. They could face three possible teams in the round of 32 and will be favored against all.

Riley Dovatin/Melissa Turnface
Rank: 125

The second best double from Kohnhead, Dovatin and Turnface did okay at Istria although I was hoping for them to get a round further. They lost in the round of 32 to Danjiella Zovic and Felice Mareaux in two sets. Here at Reçueçn, they will be facing Lemond Kames and Perry Patos in a preliminary match during the round of 48.

Best of luck to all Kohnhead players.

DEUCE: Hello, Beçonailles!

Postby TJUN-ia » Fri Jun 19, 2020 8:36 am

Beçonailles, Recuecn will be home to an NSTT event for the very first time. Les Championnats Nationaux de Reçueçn de Tennis, or "Les Championnats" or even CNRT for short, takes us to this northern city with a European feel and an abundance of class. it will be here that the very best in the NSTT arrive to showcase their talents in one of 2 Tier 1 tournament in the Clay Court season. With the Hamilton International on the horizon, many will be looking to gain any advantage they can here and/or in Mattijana. The TFT has decided to send only 4 players to this prestigious event, with all four taking part in both draws.

PART 1: THE FRIENDS
Shinji Makauchi (Singles Rank - 72nd [UR]/Doubles Rank -T-82nd [UR])
Samurai Shinji made it into the Round of 16 in Banija, but fell to someone is very quickly become a thorn in TJUN-ia's side - Theresa Waterford of Kohnhead. His recent performances mean he is now 4th out of the 8 TJUN-ian singles players and with Joe Katsi not in Beçonailles, a good performance here could send him up to 3rd. We'll see him first in the singles on Day 2, as he takes on Katelyn Barnes from the debuting nation of Croblade (a.k.a. Boda).

Felipe de la Rosa (Singles Rank - T-79th [UR]/Doubles Rank - T-82nd [UR])
El Matador was in Istria for the doubles only, so he will make his singles return here. He was the player that Makauchi overtook in the rankings, but considering that they are teammates I don't think Felipe minds all too much. He did well enough to avoid going to Istria for both draws, so he hopes that he can use that momentum to send him deep into the tournament. His singles match-up will also be on Day 2, against Maria Crown from the debuting nation of Springmont.

The pairing of these two players made it into the Doubles Round of 16, before falling to the No.1 seed in the tournament (Komang Antari/Kadek Andreawati from Pemecutan). These two share similar ability if you believe the singles rankings but with both of them taking part in the singles draw too, how much they can do in the doubles will be determined by other factors. The doubles journey starts on Day 2, after their singles matches, as they take on Azam Bestari and Amina Wira from the debuting nation of Kencana - a puppet of Eraman.

PART 2: THE REUNION
Austin McDanielson (Singles Rank - 107th [UR/Q]/Doubles Rank - T-31st [6])
The Cowboy is not the lead in his doubles pairing but as he was in Istria, I must talk about him first. He made it to the Round of 64 before falling to a returning Daniel Cervantes of Aqual. Austin made it clear that the Clay Court season would be the one where he plays well, so he'll be looking for improvement even though he has to play in the doubles too. He has to qualify for Day 2 as the lowest-ranked TJUN-ian. He'll play tomorrow against LeMond Kames (who has a basketball-player name) from the debuting nation of Solarampa.

Valentina Spetsova (Singles Rank - 10th [6]/Doubles Rank - T-31st [6])
Age: 17
Nickname: Scarlet
Hometown: Szensky, CSTO Zone

Now then, it is finally time to introduce, to our newcomers, Scarlet. She had a lot of pressure on her shoulders early on to do well due to two uncontrollable factors: she was the first TJUN-ian woman to represent the International Community in any sport and she is from the CSTO (who like their athletes to do well on the international stage). Her Electrum Slam showed promise as she showcased her reserved playstyle and thundering shot, but it was the Kinterten where she finally shined. She played 9 matches in 5 days, making it to the Doubles Semifinals and the Singles Final itself. She lost both of them to players from Pemecutan, but the performance overall made Scarlet the first-ever TJUN-ian, of any gender, in the Top 10 of the NSTT Rankings. She will enter the Singles Tournament as the 6th seed, looking to show the Tennis community that what happened in Kannap wasn't a fluke. She'll play on Day 3 against either Sarah Dinsdale of Krytenia or Amina Wira of Kencana.

Scarlet and The Cowboy will also be the 6th seed in the Doubles after their Semifinal performance at the Kinterten. #Austina stans have been delighted at their performances thus far, especially considering The Cowboy's tendencies to show off to the other sex have been tempered ever since he was paired up with Scarlet by the TFT. After the "Water Bottle Moment" at the end of their Semifinal, the stans have certainly made it clear to the rest of TJUN-ian society that these two must be dating. There is no evidence of that, of course, but nothing is for certain in the NSTT. As the 6th seeds in the Doubles, they will have to wait until Day 4 to play together (which might be important depending on what happens in the singles). They will play either Pablo Cedric Kilapkilap and Tasya Han of Filindostan or Glaucy Görög and Annis Van Der Beek from Diarcesia.

CHAPTER 9
BECONAILLES

From Banija to Recuecn, the clay-court season of the NationStates Tennis Tour continues. Unlike in Istria, the top guns will compete in Beconailles. World number one, Dominika Lisicki from Mattijana is here. So is world number three and Melayu Archipelago number one, Dewa Putu Adrian Putra from Pemecutan. Both did not compete in Istria but will compete in Beconailles.

Eraman Lawn Tennis Association sent the same 4 players that competed in Istria to Championnats Nationaux de Reçueçn de Tennis in Beconailles including Betara Siwara, the new tennis darling. Batera Siwara went on to the semi-final in Istria only to lose to the eventual winner, Ngurah Putra Muliawan. It will be interesting to see his performance against the top players.

The first player to take on the court for Eraman, however, will again be Hemat Darwisa. He will take on Tasya Han from Filindostan in the qualifying round. The winner of the match will go through to the preliminary round to play Felice Mareaux from Neu Engollon.

This will only be the second time Eraman send its tennis players to an international tournament. Are we going to see another good run by Batera Siwara? We are about to find out.

Let the game begins.

On Board to Beconailles

Beconailles, Recuecn - Pemecutan has put a great performance in the opening of Clay Court Season with double winner in Single and Double Competition. It is the second time Pemecutan achieved such result after previously did the same thing in Hard Court Season tournament, Kinterten Open. In this second tour of Clay Court Season, Pemecutan players will going to Recuecn, the nation who initiate an invitational championship before the start of NSTT Season 6. Four single players and 2 double pairs will be playing in the tournament. Dewa Putu Adrian Putra will make his first debut in Clay Court after previously won Kinterten Open trophy. Together with him in Single Competition are Maria Sophia Lubis, Indah Susanti and Oka Sulastra. From all 4 single players, only Oka Sulastra who will be playing in the qualifying round. Sulastra is more known in double competition having won his first trophy in this season in Kinterten Open with his partner, Luh Putu Yundari. In the Qualifying Round, Oka Sulastra will be playing against Solarampan player, Rafel Nedel.

In Double Competition, Pemecutan send Ilham Nugraha/Jayadi Ahmad and Oka Sulastra/Luh Putu Yundari. Fortunately, no double pair have to be playing in the qualifying round. So they have more time to familiarize themselves with the situation and condition in Recuecn. In Championnats Nationaux de Recuecn de Tennis (the full name of the competition), Pemecutan have 3 players in the top seed, 2 in Single and 1 in Double. Dewa Putu Adrian Putra and Maria Sophia Lubis who currently in the top 10 of NSTT ranking ultimately become the 2nd and the 4th seed in the tournament. While the pair Oka Sulastra/Luh Putu Yundari who in the 5th NSTT ranking are the 3rd seed in the tournament.

The tournament which is a Tier 1 NSTT Tour will have more competitive and tight competition where more high ranked players will be playing in the match.

The Turnip: How to correctly pronounce Recuecn
by Primmy Primmy Primrose

We asked ten linguistic experts how to pronounce Reçueçn. While each of them had different techniques, we hope that one of them is correct.

1. Collin McCollins
Throat sing the following musical notes: "E" "C" "E" "C" "N"

2. Recuecn Prime Minister
Say "Rest Sweat Son" really quickly - everyone here speaks French anyways, so we understand if you don't get our pronunciation exactly right. Continue to insist saying "Rest Sweat Son" - it is the only correct pronunciation. Don't let anyone correct you.

3. Tournament director of Beçonailles
The trick is that all of the fake letters (ç) are silent. So you just have to say "Reuen," which means 'repent' in German, and as everyone knows, that's the national language in our beloved theocracy.

4. Primmy Primmy Primrose
Ignore the other experts, the easiest way of saying the country name in English is: "Re-queue-chumps"

5. Musician of the Recuecn Philharmonic Orchestra
Exactly like the song 4'33" but 136 times faster.

6. Billiam Maskey
The same way that you would pronounce "Beçonailles"

7. Virus AAUGCC, currently inhabiting the body of a gorilla
Oooh ooh ooh aah aa!

8. A discord conlang group
Exactly like "Resu" which is really pronounced "reh-zoo"

9. Sonya Gredello
Honestly, when you play a tennis tournament, it's easier to just avoid saying the name all together. I mean, I don't even know what country I'm in half the time - I only focus on destroying my opponents.

10. Someone actually from Reçueçn
Reçueçn. Reçueçn. Reçueçn. That's how you say it.

Milene Harman
A few days before the Beçonailles Qualifying Round

“On a side note, I encountered an interesting phenomenon while out exploring Maria's play style. It lent to a tendency of her finding herself having to serve a second time. It seemed she was trying for a quick finish that relies on precision. In reality, she ended up hitting the ball a little too hard, a little too far."

"Milena!"

"Oh?"

"I want to know if you have devised a strategy that would work around it."

“Yes,” she said with a laugh.

"I don't know if I can tell you how happy I am to know that you’re having fun, Milena. You’re really talented."

"I’m having a great time, too!"

“You sure?” said Milene's friend.

“A great time! I’m not doing it for any accolades, but I hope it’s a win.”

"I wouldn’t be surprised if you go far in this tournament.”

“I can't tell. I'm no Eutaur Jordaniscus, but I didn't slack off all these years that I'm not in the NSTT.”

"Luck is the spice of life, Milena. The spice of life is getting you to the next level as fast as you can."

"You’d be surprised what can happen if I have a little extra help."

SHARKTAIL POST EP 17
AMATEUR OR PRO?

The qualifying round of Championnats Nationaux De Reçueçn de Tennis has ended. Not so much to talk on. the unranked and lowe ranked player playing to get a spot in the next round. So mostly this match not get too much attention from the fans. However, this match has attracted some attention from sharktail tennis fans. Not just because Sharktail player played today, but because of her recent performance. Diana Jansen, the first-ever female tennis player who turn professional and compete in the international stage. She has been expected by all fans to be good since she got the spot defeating another male athlete. However, now all people have doubted of her skill. Two tournaments, two qualifier match, two lose, not a situation anyone wants. What more, she not even win any set. Both match end she loses 2-0. A lot of statement can be seen on the internet doubting her skill is amateur of professional. A lot of tennis fans have a comment about her and ask Sharktail ten to drop her. Some more advice for her to try to improve her ability before back to compete again. Sharktail tennis coach, Mahali Hassan remind all fans to not judge her too harshly. ("She still young and fresh. Yeah I know she does not win any match yet and never pass qualifying but she always works hard to improve herself. I hope all fans can be patient and continue to support and cheer for her. She will be back stronger and good next tourney. She also sad to get eliminated early but she promises she will bounce back"). Let watch her for the next tourney.

Jessica Moreaux (KRY) 6 6
Diana Jansen (SHT) 3 1

Today match

Single

3. Naim Alex (SHT) vs Jessica Moreaux (KRY)

Go through to final in Istria open, before losing to Ngurah Putra Muliawan, Naim will have more challenged this time. With the returning of top-ranked, now he can see how far good he facing star player.

10. Haikal Jansen (SHT) vs Milene Harman (DCS)

Having good performance in Electrum Slama will he able back to his old self and regain back Sharktail No 1 tennis player. The knee injury seems still haunted him and him too careful in his play. He has to be more aggressive if he still wants to play tennis.

Double

10. Bahari Zack/Diana Jansen (SHT) vs Jo Royalwood/Bob Lightford (SPM)

Getting pair for the first time will they be able to do good this time. Diana Jansen has a bad form in single while Bahari bad in double. Will this unlucky lair be able to counter Jo and bob today.

13. Izzat Manson/George Fakhrul (SHT) vs Ramsey Lewis/Kelly Clark (AIG)

No 1 double in Sharktail Izzat Manson and George Fakhrul have a good form in Istria but lose to some unknown player. They have to review their game back and make sure they do not do the same mistake again.

N° 2

Meadbrook is well-known for being the city of many Springmont-born tennis players during its heyday in the early 1980s. Big names like Roland Ghaffur, Leroy Pauly, Nancy Pauly and more are born from a growing family in Meadbrook. The Springmont tennis era lasted until the early 1990s, but tennis clubs still operate in Meadbrook. One of them called Kingfisher Tennis Club that Carlos Thirdspade and Maria Crown had played. To find out more about this "Tennis Town" let's explore its history.

Formerly Meadbrook was known as the Kingfisher River Estate, a 1,200-acre rubber farm on the Kingfisher River. By the early '60s, Danford had suffered from overcrowding and large squatter settlements in the Danford suburbs. To overcome this problem, the Government has identified Eagleworth Province "Kingfisher River Estate" which is a rubber plantation land measuring 1,200 acres in Kingfisher River to establish a new settlement.

The trustees to administer the new settlements were handed over to the Mayor of Danford and the Meadbrook Management Board before being taken over by a statutory body called the Meadbrook Authority in late 1964. Meadbrook made a new history on January 1, 1965, when the Eagleworth Province gazetted a Town Board has the financial autonomy to govern the city.

On January 1, 1977, the Meadbrook Township Board was upgraded to the Meadbrook Municipal Council following the enactment of the Local Government Act 1976 by the government. On June 20, 2006, Meadbrook Municipal Council was upgraded as Meadbrook City Council and James Fortier was sworn in as the first Mayor of Meadbrook City Council. President Arthur Corndaglish consents to submit Meadbrook city status declaration on June 8, 2006, to Minister of Internal Affair, Damion Burkes.

Now the Meadbrook administration area is 97.2 square kilometers, rapidly expanding. Meadbrook has a population of over 31,009 people and a total property holding of $ 1,217,930. Meadbrook is now one of the leading growth centers in Eagleworth Province. The administration of the Council consists of 25 Council members and is chaired by a Mayor. Council members are appointed by the Eagleworth County Government Council. The Mayor is a Federal Government official appointed by the state administration following the approval of the Governor-General. The Mayor is on a full-time basis assisted by the Deputy Mayor & Heads of Departments in setting & implementing the vision, mission, quality policy, objectives & activities of the Council. Council approves Council draft law & formulates policies to be implemented by the department.

After making a complete fool of itself in the hard court season, the Ebola virus AAUGCC had finally found its form in Istria. This was due to a combination of additional tennis practice and improved diet and hygiene.

In order to play tennis, AAUGCC and the SARS virus GUACUU (a.k.a. "SARA") infected their hosts' brains and seized control of their nervous system. GUACUU's host was a slutty cat girl and AAUGCC's was a gorilla. For several months, AAUGCC had struggled to control its offspring, accidentally killing or sickening one host after another. But then in Istria the Ebola virus made a breakthrough. By expelling its most rambunctious offspring from the gorilla's body, it could prevent it from falling ill.

Sometimes viruses do gross things, and the method that AAUGCC used to expel its overzealous progeny was pretty gross. Suffice to say, AAUGCC's children departed Istria through the sewer system.

It worked, though. AAUGCC had gone several weeks infecting the same host without any sign of fever, bleeding, or surplus cytokines.

Teaming up with the Electrumite Jack Ho also proved a success. When AAUGCC and GUACUU played together, the SARS virus had a snotty attitude and its host had a long tail that was very easy to step on. Jack Ho had much better social skills and was much harder to step on.

The collaboration between GUACUU and Marcus Hathwar was going well too. GUACUU was grateful to have a partner that didn't step on its host's tail. How Hathwar didn't catch SARS was anyone's guess.

Well, now all of them were in Recuecn ready for a new challenge. No, not pronouncing the name of the country. AAUGCC didn't consider that a challenge. (The virus thought it spoke flawless French, even though it didn't. It had no idea that its pronunciation was unintelligible to the locals.) Soon AAUGCC and Ho would face off on the tennis court against Carla Tormo and Lara Navarro. That was a challenge, but it was one the virus looked forward to.
There are viruses on the internet! Make sure your computer is protected.
African, asexual, and proud.
Racism is foolish. You're all the same inside. I would know.

No Surprises for Aqual on Qualifying Day of the Championnats in Reçueçn
Beçonailles, Rçn.—Following the national attention which the Istrian Open received, there was no question on whether the Championnats Nationaux de Reçueçn de Tennis, a higher-level Tier 1 event with no limit on the rankings of the competition, would be highly anticipated in Aqual. Although only two matches today in qualifying featured Aqualias, millions across the country still tuned in to watch and certainly were not disappointed in the results.

Singles
Daniel Cervantes (AQL) 6 6
Khadijah Sims (AIG) 2 2

The first match featuring an Aqualian player in Reçueçn was Daniel Cervantes, who performed well in Istria but will no doubt improve from getting more clay court matches—and wins—under his belt, faced few moments of unease in his impressive win over Khadijah Sims of the Andromeda Island Group. Cervantes led from start to finish with a strong service game before getting the early break for 2-0. He appeared dominant on serve the entire match, never even facing a break point. He managed his second break of the day just a few games later to take the set by six games to two. After a closer start to the second set, he eventually pulled ahead with a break to go up 4-2, consolidated for 5-2 and again broke Sims' serve to match his first set scoreline of 6-2. He will need another strong closing performance to beat Istrian semifinalist Batera Siwara from Eraman tomorrow in the Preliminary Round.

Doubles
Carla Tormo/Lara Navarro (AQL) 6 6
Angela Li/Maya Cole (CSE) 4 1

The lone Aqualian doubles match of the night saw Carla Tormo and Lara Navarro win over Angela Li and Maya Cole. Although the Christos team were fierce competitors early in the first set, trading breaks with the Aqualias straight through the first eight games, they eventually faltered when Navarro consolidated the break with Tormo at the net for 5-4, then could not hold themselves to give the set up six games to four. Having clenched the first, Tormo and Navarro were unrelenting in the second, dropping only one game to Cole's serve. They hope to continue that level of playing tomorrow in the preliminary round against AAUGCC, the EAS player currently inhabiting a gorilla host, and Jack Ho of Electrum.

Also playing tomorrow in the preliminary round of singles are Matéu Virxiliu, who for the first time is not either a Wild Card (as he was in Aqual's El Molino Open) or a qualifier (as in Istria), and Bartolo Sabanero, who hopes to have a stronger singles performance here in Beçonailles than in the Istrian Open (where he lost in only his second match), more reminiscent of his showing in Toboso (where he was runner-up to Rafael Bautista, who has himself received a bye to the Round of 64). Perhaps the most widely anticipated match in Aqual is that of Istrian Open finalists Bartolo Sabanero and Qualo Tabos, who are the eighth seeded team here in Reçueçn and, as such, will not begin their quest to go one further in this tournament until the Round of 32.

Please join us tomorrow on our website for live updates in the Preliminary Round, and check back after all matches have finished for the daily recap from the Toboso Chronicle.

Andromeda Sports Connection
Tennis Roundup
Qualifying Round
Recucen National Championships
Beçonailles, Recucen

Lucius Webb begins tennis coverage from Beconailles.

“There were two matches involving Andromedans from this final day of Qualifying for the National Championships. The first involved doubles duo Todd Richardson and Victoria Tran.

Cut to match highlights.

“In their match against Batera Siwara and Hemat Darwisa (ERM), Richardson and Tran started out poorly, going down a break in the first three games. The Eramanians won the opening set 6-3. Richardson and Tran maintained in the second, winning the tiebreaker 8-6. But their inexperience proved to be the deciding factor as they lost 6-3 in the third.”

Cut to brief interview with Ramsey Lewis and Kelly Clark after the match.

“With me to discuss what they saw this morning are the premier doubles team from the Allied States, Ramsey Lewis and Kelly Clark. What did you see from Richardson and Tran?

Lewis answered.

“Honestly, as you said, it was inexperience plus the fact that there was little time between their arrival and their first match. Considering all that plus the fact that this was their first match outside of the Andromeda Islands, they did very well.”

Cut back to Webb live from outside Centre Court.

“The afternoon match involved Khadijah Sims who faced Daniel Cervantes, and…”

Cut to highlights

“It seemed that it was Sims who was chasing windmills, being bested by Cervantes throughout. In the end, Cervantes won 6-2 in straight sets, winning in just under an hour and 20 minutes.

“Back to you, Dave.”

“Tonight, we’re going to bring you profiles of the Big Three in Andromeda Tennis. Of course, I’m talking about Kendra Jackson, Catherine James and Heather Long.”

Cut to archive footage of last season.

“In the past decade, one of three names would have been at the top of Andromeda Tennis: Jackson, James and Long.”

“Until a couple of years ago, the rivalry in Andromeda tennis between Kendra Jackson and Heather Long had been the stuff of legend. Both ladies had bested all comers, male and female, and exchanged the #1 ranking between them every couple of months. Then, in 2017, two became three.

“Catherine James burst onto the tennis scene, rising from a qualifier in 2016 to the #1 ranking among Andromedan tennis players in 2018. It’s largely because of this trio of Andromedan tennis players that the Andromeda Sports Commission decided that our nations premier tennis players once again go against international competition.”

Cut to current Andromeda #1 Kendra Jackson.

“It was getting to the point where tennis fans wouldn’t even come to tournaments until the quarterfinals. There is a definite divide between our top dozen players and the rest of the players in our tour. Most of the ASTA singles players are college students looking to win a little extra spending money, but the NSTT is something completely different.”

Cut to #3 Heather Long.

“Hopefully, this move leads to a renewed interest in tennis. While we’ve moved up to International Competition, it should also mean more competition in our tournaments, resulting in better tennis overall.”

Cut to #2 Catherine James.

“I applaud Chairman Withers and the Andromeda Sports Commission for helping us to take on International Competition. Kendra, Heather and I had been the big fish in a small pond for quite a while. We’re more than ready to see what happens in the deep blue, swimming with the sharks.”

Back to Dave Bishop at ANN Studios.

“And whatever way the tide turns in Beçonailles, you’ll be able to catch the wave right here live at the Andromeda Sports Connection. We’ll be back after a short break.”

The Olympiad- the competition that looms over Clay Court Season for Banija's athletes

Image
A Banijan player hitting a ball at the Istria Open

Beçonailles, Reçueçn- North Reçueçn is likely to be quite an important scene for Banija's tennis athletes. As the clay court season continues to rage away, there has been a major announcement in the sporting world, especially in terms of the Kingdom of Banija. Just towards the end of the Istria Open, the Olympic Committee of Banija, joining the Liventia Olympic Association, will be bidding to co-host the Olympics. The bids, so far anyways, are unopposed. The City of Istria will be Banija's bid city, while the City of Orean will be Liventia's bid city. Rushmore and Atlantian Oceania joining together once more, eh?

There is, of course, a lot to unpack from a Banijan-Liventian bid to co-host the next Summer Olympiad together. Stadia that will be used. The end of Liberty Stadium. What venues we will use. And we're sure there is plenty of time to cover all of that, as we express our confidence that Istria will be able to host half of the world's largest sporting event. But let's look at this from the perspective of tennis, as we are here for the Championnats Nationaux de Reçueçn de Tennis, the second of the four tournaments for the clay court season.

The Olympic tennis tournament, naturally, will be held at the KIsangara Tennis Club, assuming the bid remains unopposed and is accepted by the Olympic Council. The ability to play in a tournament like the Olympiad, on home soil, an event that comes around so rarely(once a decade on the Banijan calendar), is exactly what you'd think it is- a once in a lifetime opportunity. And that puts all sorts of pressure on the Banijan athletes. Take the words of Deseret Weaverton, who lost in the Qualifying round. "The entire Banijan delegation is thinking about our opportunity to compete at Kisangara during the Olympics. The ability to do so, on home soil? We know there will be no special qualification tournament in tennis for Banijan athletes- the powers that be have told us that they intend to pull from those who have had strong NSTT performances."

And that is absolutely true. It's unclear how many athletes exactly the Olympic Committee of Banija will be submitting- every delegation, including the host delegation, has a limited amount of athletes they can send in general. And when you can bet that the Banijans will be filling their quota in sports important to the country, like track and field, there will certainly be a limited amount of tennis players that will go. While Banijans are unlikely to claim an outright victory here in Beçonailles, a deep run for any of the athletes could vault themselves to Olympic qualification. Bala Guiss, Banija's top seeded player entering the NSTT, talked about that in his pre-match press conference.

"I know that i Have a hell of a matchup, drawing Bartolo Sabonero." Said Bala Guiss. "But doing well here would grant me an opportunity I'd never thought I'd have- competing in the Olympics. We generally send such small delegations to the Olympic Games when their abroad, so the opportunity to have them at home would be absolutely amazing. But my focus can't be what will happen down the line in Istria. It's gotta be here, and gotta be on Bartolo. He's an excellent player. If I want to have that rare opportunity to compete there, that means I've gotta be strong here first. It's not about the destination- it's what the destination represents about your journey. The journey continues, and I will be ready."

The Preliminary round will be upon us. Bala Guiss taking on Bartolo Sabonero. Halima Fatty taking on Lidya Prijanti. And both Banijan doubles players will be in action. All the media from their home country will be talking about, is if they can parlay this into an Olympic appearance. Who will stay focused and qualify for the Round of 64, here in north Reçueçn?

Pelissa Giannapolous to square off against Janet Riley in unfortunate luck of the draw

Preliminary round action starts tomorrow with two matches involving Electrumites: Carmichael Brown against Neu Engollon's Cassarro, and Pelissa Giannapolous against Janet Riley.

Electrumites aren't expecting much from Carmichael Brown - the hot-headed 'bad boy', who has gone far in previous NSTT tournaments, has not done as well in season 6. Brown's reputation for playing the wrong shot at the wrong time, and voicing frustration at crowds has not done much for his reputation amongst international and Electrumite fans. In particular, his trademark strategy of going for big, fast serves will be stymied on the account of the soft, slow clay courts of Recuecn. Meanwhile, Dietrich Cassarro has had an excellent start to his NSTT season, winning four consecutive matches (including a qualifier) before being defeated in the forth round to countrywoman and eventual semifinalist, Danjiella Zovic. Since that brilliant start however, Cassarro had an early exit at Istria before easily swatting aside Mengwi's Sintya Dewi Arimbi today during the qualifiers of Beçonailles. Cassarro is in scintillating form, conceding just two serves. With such great form, and Brown's hampered serve, the match can only go one way.

Meanwhile, it's a battle of new vs old as Riley, who is one of Electrum's new faces this season, faces the experienced Giannapolous for a spot in the Round of 64. Both players really play to their strengths - Giannapolous, who while not as nimbler as other players on tour, moves well enough to keep her points short and sharp with her serve-and-volley style. This style of play is unfortunately weak against the prevailing trend of baseliners in the NSTT - which is what Riley is best known for. Riley is a persistent counterpuncher, and with her excellent movement, will go for every single ball. That persistence has rewarded her with a very consistent season so far, pulling great performances in the Electrum Slam and at Steinigestrasse. Her trademark backhand squat returns are something to be marvelled, and ultimately will probably make the difference in tomorrow's match. It would take the entire breadth of Giannapolous' bag of shots to eke out a victory - if Giannapolous can get Riley out of rhythm, then that's a whole new game.

DEUCE: The Cowboys Fights For The Q!

Postby TJUN-ia » Sun Jun 21, 2020 7:33 am

Qualifying day was upon us in Beçonailles, Recuecn. 13 singles and 6 doubles matches decided who would make the Preliminary Round of the CNRT. Due to the high-class field taking part in this event, Austin McDanielson had to take part today. His opponent, LeMond Kames of Solarampa, was a relative unknown to many in TJUN-ia. But not for long...

For you see, the first set was very tight. Kames wanted to prove himself as this level, and he certainly gave The Cowboy a run for his money. As soon as one got the advantage, the other would strike back and we headed to a tiebreaker. It was decided by a late break by The Cowboy, but LeMond didn't give up just yet. He took advantage of a tired McDanielson to take Set 2 by a comfortable margin. But when the deciding Set 3 came around, Kames had run out of steam. The Cowboy took advantage of this to win the match in three sets, but it certainly wasn't easy. LeMond Kames played exceptionally well considering his standing in the NSTT, and he might be one to look out for in Hamilton and beyond.

Austin will play tomorrow against a player no one from TJUN-ia has figured out yet. Kohnhead's Theresa Waterford has done well against us, beating both Jean van de Kloor and Shinji Makauchi in the past. Can she make it 3-for-3 against TJUN-ians or can The Cowboy finally take her down? We'll see tomorrow...

“Good evening, Neu Engollon and our international viewers! You're watching the NETV Sports 7 Update. I'm Liz Rittenhaus and this is my co-host and good friend, Marla Gerard. Our main focus today will be the Les Championnats Nationaux de Reçueçn de Tennis hosted in Beçonailles, Recuecn. Afterwards, we'll turn it over to Karl Demais who has some hockey and rugby news to discuss. How we doing, Marla?"

"Oh, I think we're doing well enough, Liz. Or do you mean the NETC? Not as good, I'm afraid."

"I would have to agree on that. This return to the NSTT has not gone as well as a lot of people hoped, including the Ministry of Athletics and the NETC..."

"Well, there's a lot of new players on the roster and a lot of veteran talent retired. Plus, let's be honest, this whole seniors promotional tour was a big disaster, even if it was kind of fun to see everyone again after so long..."

"Come on now - Disaster?"

"Yeah, I'm going to stand by what I said. I'm glad they stopped the exhibition matches after Electrum. I think it just drew attention, at least back home, away from the new players really trying to make a name for themselves and get some confidence out on the courts."

"The intent was to help bring more attention to the NETC. The exhibition matches were supposed to help people get excited about the NSTT matches again."

"...Eh. Come on, Liz. You don't invite a loser along like Paul Quiront to focus attention on new players when you're knowingly inviting a huge trainwreck for everyone to get riveted to...The older generations can just watch replays on NETV 19 if they want to see us play in our prime."

"Awkward. I get what you're saying, but I didn't think we'd have this conversation again, on the air, no less. We should move on and focus in on those new players who didn't seem to get enough attention, in your words."

"Agreed. Not so new, my sister, Karina, but she's had some rough breaks this circuit, being one of the more veteran players who should be leading the pack, but has fallen a bit short."

"Ugh. Yes. She's not the only one though, Dani Zovic and Felice Mareaux have also had some tough breaks."

"Well, let's focus on the positive. We're starting fresh with the CNRT here in Reçueçn. We had one player going into the qualifying rounds..."

"Ya, Dietrich Cassarro, who really dominated his games against Sintya Dewi Arimbi of Mengwi to shut that match down quick."

"I'm surprised about that too. The nations of the Melayu Archipelago have been a real tour de force here on this season's NSTT circuit. Players from Pemecutan, Eraman, Mengwi, and Sharktail have been crushing it."

"Just look at the finals in the Istria Open, it was an all Melayuan singles final between Ngurah Putra Muliawan and Naim Alex, with a Pemecutanian in the doubles final. This isn't anything like our days, where we barely saw any Melayuans competing."

"Maybe we're lucky for that. Might not have gone as far as we did. So, we'll come back after the sponsor break to do a preview of how we think those matches will go for Dietrich, Felice, and the doubles for Thierry and Dani Zovic in the preliminaries. Stay tuned..."
