Another World Cup cycle is nearing its end, and this means it's time for a new Copa Rushmori edition, the thirty-fourth one! Pasarga showed their strength in retaining the trophy, now we move on to a new edition in which a new winner could potentially claim a piece of silverware and inscribe its name in the Roll of Honour, and that winner could be YOU!

IMPORTANT:

• New nations joining Rushmore after the moment this thread was posted are ineligible to join.
• Regulars returning from CTE status after the moment this thread was posted may join, provided that they have competed in at least two (back-to-back) of the previous 32 Copa editions.
• Only one puppet will be allowed per OOC user (who must declare it as such when entering it) and their final inclusion into the tournament will be entirely up to host discretion.

Taeshan's 34th Copa Rushmori Hosting Bid

After 20 Copa Rushmori's and 4 decades since the last time Taeshan hosted a big full national team tournament the nation looks to boost the international experience off the success of the Sporting World Cup and the recent return to relevance of the Taeshan National team.

Host Experience

I have a relatively low level of experience compared to some of the other nations close to my age on this site, but I have hosted Cup of harmony 55, Copa Rushmori 14, and most recently the 10th Sporting World Cup. I have a successful history in scorinating many seasons of Taeshan's sports leagues from Soccer, to Hockey and even Rugby.

Scorination
The host plans to use the nsfs scorinator with the normal formula. I have used this scorinator for the better part of the last decade and I really like it. With the Copa Rushmori more of a rp based tournament than the bigger tournaments I will use ranks for the group draw, but plan to give a healthy allowance towards RP much like in the Sporting World Cup. Traditional powers will have a small head start, but should not be able to coast on rank alone.



The Tournament
My main plan would be to use groups of 4 as is tradition in the biggest tournaments. The plan would be to have 16 teams advance if that is allowed with those groups. Play in games (much like the most recent Sporting World Cup) would be used if more groups are needed than 8 of 4. Less groups would also lead to play in games, but less needed. (i.e if 20 teams like CR 33, 10 teams advance, 2 play in games and then a Quarterfinal)


Playoffs in a 16 or 32 team tournament would be the Traditional A1 vs B1 with B1 vs A2 on the opposite side of the bracket. IF playoffs are needed teams would be seeded with 1 playing 8 etc.

This is a minor question, but with the recent stress from RPing multiple tournaments side by side and quite a few RL events coming up for me, I feel like it could be decisive for my vote if (and only if) there are two competitive bids - what type of schedule are you looking at? Are we looking for a quick start, and are we going to have a one- or two-day cutoff rhythm?
