Barunian Bid for the 5th Rugby Sevens World Cup

About the Stadium

Barunia invites teams, media, and fans to the city of Hamilton. Hamilton is a small city located about 50km south of the national capital Porthaven, in the state of Havenia. The city has a proud sporting tradition, especially in rugby as the home town of the South Havenia Bucks. The Bucks are by far the most successful team in the growing Barunian Rugby Union Championship, and many of their players have also made it into the highly-successful national team.

It is intended that all games will be played at Samford Stadium. This is the newest stadium in Barunia and seats 50,000. It is the home stadium of the South Havenia Bucks rugby team and the Sea Cows, Barunia's national gridiron team. If the number of signups requires it, additional games may be played at the playing fields of Karl Marx University. KMU has a strong tradition of rugby, and is also known as the birthplace of Barunian gridiron. The permanent grandstand seats 1,500, but temporary seating will increase that to 5,000, with plenty more space available on the grass. KMU is located near the centre of Hamilton; Samford is a suburb just to he north of the city's centre. All stadiums are easily accessible from public transport, from both Hamilton and Porthaven.

About the Host

Barunia has had a growing presence in world rugby since winning the 24th edition of the Rugby Union World Cup. The nation is looking to increase it's reputation as a rugby nation by hosting this prestigious 7s tournament.

Barunia's hosting experience includes the 66th Baptism of Fire, the Celebration of Field Hockey tournament, and the 3rd T20 World Cup, as well as the 2nd Hobbes Trophy for the unique sport of Calvinball.

About the Tournament

The exact format will depend on sign-ups. We are currently at 22 teams signed up. All group matches will be in double round robin format (each team plays each other twice).
24 teams: 6 groups of 4. Group winners + two 2nd place qualify.
28: teams: 7 groups of 3. Group winners + one 2nd place qualify.
30 teams: 6 groups of 5. Group winners + two 2nd place qualify.
32 teams: 8 groups of 4. Group winners qualify.

The tournament will be scored using xkoronate. Tiebreakers will be Points, Head-to-head results, H2H point difference, wins, points for.

Nope, you're not too late. You were right on time, in fact. If anything, I'm late for announcing the votes but that's because I wanted to check something with my fellow NSRB presidents first.

Speaking of which, the results are in and we have found our new host!

Group draw is now up. I would like to apologise for not getting it up sooner, I've had some health issues this week. To give everyone an even chance to get their roleplays in, I'd like to delay the start of the tournament a day, to Tuesday 15th March.
There may be a chance to pick up a day anyway; due to current affairs, an event I had planned for the weekened of the 28th may not go ahead. I should know by Tuesday if that is the case.
