No Wins but Strong Performances at Shellshock & Rumble Races

Image
Shellshock Batteries 400, Marquette Raceway, Hampton Island :: With just ten laps to go in the Shellshock Batteries 400, it looked as if Team Tropicorp might have accomplished exactly what they had set out to do. Historically one of their best tracks on the circuit, Team Tropicorp had won the Shellshock Batteries 400 during NSSCRA Season 8 with Cocoabo #78 securing the teams first ever Points Paying checkered flag. Teammate Cocoabo #28 finished 4th in the same event.

Now it was Cocoabo #28 on the verge of victory and the Team Tropicorp driver had the #28 twii.tur Multiversal Dart pacing the field with defending NSSCRA champion Kai Qiang closing in. Just three tenths back. Then two. The #44 TMW was getting closer and closer in the rear view mirror. With six laps to go Qiang got to the rear bumper of the Cocoabo's car. The two battled clean for 3 laps before Qiang smelled half an opening and ducked the nose of the #44 underneath the silver and green Cocoabomobile. Cocoabo #28 tucked in behind Qiang and followed the defending champion to the stripe in second place, not letting Gwen Tracer Allison get past.

While it wasn't the victory the team was looking for to guarantee their place in the Round of 8, it was still a solid points day as Cocoabo #28 leaped from outside the Top 8 to joint 5th in the standings. While it was a solid day the lack of a victory was still concerning to Team Tropicorp officials as the battle was extremely close. Just 3 points ahead of Cocoabo #28 in the standings was the 3rd place driver Skip Stiller. Just 7 points behind was the 9th place driver River 'Shark' Suzgar II - also representing the mark where a driver would not advance to the next round of competition.

It is for that reason that Cocoabo #28's ability to keep Gwen Tracer Allison at bay could prove to be critical in their hopes to advancing to the Round of 8 and continuing the quest to become the first ever Cocoabo champion of the NSSCRA. There would still be a lot of work to do at the Li River Speedway in Guilin - a track where Cocoabo #28 did not have a large amount of prior success. During NSSCRA 8, Cocoabo #28 had a strong qualifying effort inside the Top 10 but drifted back in the field for a 21st place finish. A similar result this week would likely see Cocoabo #28 slip outside the top 8 and outside the Chase. Considering how close the field is, the team knows they need to set their sights and expectations high with nothing less than a Top 5 finish certain to see the #28 Twii.tur Multiversal / Cocoabo Preservation Society Dart through to the next round.
The Dart Group @ The Rumble - Results
33rd - #07 Juracai Klianiota
11th - #23 Cocoabo #23
9th - #37 Jama'obo Pegasii
27th - #42 Euroli Islander
29th - #49 Lotara Novorali
3rd - #77 iBen Toralmintii
37th - #87 Kizara Mo'aaki
24th - #96 Shao Mengxia
34th - #97 Rulita Kikaba

While events were unfolding in Hampton Island, another contingent from Team Tropicorp were already forward deployed in Guilin at the Li River Speedway helping assist the Dart Group field an extra large contingent in the Rumble at the Rice Fields. While Team Tropicorp's assistance in the event helped to underscore their relationship with The Dart Group as a premier partner, it was also hoped that the experience gained throughout the IRACT race weekend for the Rumble in the Rice Fields could then be applied to the NSSCRA event at the track one week later. Team Tropicorp's World Grand Prix 2 driver Cocoabo #23, otherwise known as Fast Cocoabo, was behind the wheel of one of the teams entries which was effectively being run entirely by Team Tropicorp and Cocoabo Enrichment and Enhancement Project representatives with the goal of better preparing for Cocoabo #28's run in the NSSCRA Chase.

Just as events unfolded in Hampton Island, there was optimism but ultimately falling short of the ultimate success as Cocoabo #23 finished just outside the Top 10 in 11th place. Outside of Fast Cocoabo, The Dart Group experienced mixed results in the event with iBen Toralmintii nearly but not quite pulling off the victory, crossing the line third after starting on pole position and narrowly missing out on one of the two open charters for the Guangxhi Telecom 400. Jama'obo Pegasii, another Vilita & Turori Motorsports backed driver for The Dart Group was 9th with Cocoabo #23 the highest finishing Team Tropicorp supported driver. While it wasn't a Top 10, there was a lot that the team were able to learn from the performance for Cocoabo #23, normally an open wheel driver, that gave the team increased confidence heading into the NSSCRA race weekend that they could help advance Cocoabo #28 through to the next round.

Kai Qiang's new house was built around a small courtyard, where carved wooden balconies overlooked a small fish pond, a carport, and a tree with some flowers planted around its roots. In this neighborhood, the outer walls of the houses formed an unbroken line along the sidewalk, like a row of townhouses with no gaps between them -- but many homes had private courtyards hidden within the walls. The front of Qiang's property had a heavy metal gate that let cars in and out of the courtyard and a smaller door for people on foot. The style of the woodwork on the balconies around the courtyard looked more Nepalese than Chinese. In fact, it was a very specific style, which made it pretty easy to guess the age of the house. About 60 years ago, there had been a brief fad for Newari-inspired decor, even in parts of the Empire where there weren't many Newaris. The house that Qiang's wives had picked out was a classic example. If you looked around the courtyard and didn't think too hard, you might think you were in Kathmandu. Mendok especially liked it. She thought it would be nice to have somewhere she could relax where she wouldn't be reminded too strongly that she was in Guangxi, in case she got tired of the local color and needed a break from it. Once they were moved in, she was planning to spend her next few paychecks on Tibetan rugs to add to the Himalayan flair.

Buying the house and moving the furniture in kept Qiang busy for the first couple of days in Guilin. When the movers were done and Qiang had closed the gate behind them, Mendok pulled him by the arm into the bedroom and tackled him on their big Valentian bed. She didn't even take the time to put sheets on the bed first. They finally had a room large enough to set the bed up without having it fill the whole room, and Mendok wanted to get some use out of it -- especially since Qiang had been away for months, and they hadn't had enough time to enjoy each other's company since he got back to Guilin. They'd been too busy with last-minute packing and such.

Gil Archer's accusation that Qiang was a sex-addict was unfounded, but it probably didn't sound that way to the birds in the courtyard, if they listened to all the noise coming out of the bedroom the week before the Guangxi Telecom 400. Mendok was really LOUD. Even when there was no actual sex involved, she still made a lot of noise bouncing off the walls or thrashing around in her sleep. The huge Valentian bed made it harder to accidentally kick Qiang off the side of the bed, but the bed springs still squeaked when she tossed too violently.

The night before the actual race was somewhat quieter because Qiang insisted that he wanted to spend the night with Tsering and only Tsering. He needed to get a proper night's sleep, not interrupted by Mendok's snoring and kicking.

When Qiang arrived at the track there was a small ruckus going on in the parking lot. He kept his distance and avoided getting involved, but he later heard that some conservative Confucianists had gotten in argument with some flamboyantly LGBT racing fans.

Before the race, he carefully searched his car to make sure there were no animals in it. Searching the car had become a normal part of his pre-race routine, but he was a little more thorough knowing Chris Holmes was in town.

Qualifying wasn't great, but once the race got going and Qiang got settled into the rhythm of it, he ran well. For a while, he was even battling for the lead, but then Liangmei Li pushed him out of her way, nearly driving him into the side of a cliff at a couple hundred km/h in the process. A couple of Vilitan drivers who were fighting to keep their Chase hopes alive took advantage of the incident to pass Qiang before he could get back in his groove. Qiang cussed at Li and grumbled a little about the Vilitans, but he didn't want to play bumper cars with them because he knew the Vilitans were desperate and desperate people could do crazy things.

Among Rivers and Farms, Only 8 Remain

您好,歡迎來到廣西桂林!(Nín hǎo, huānyíng lái dào guǎngxī guìlín!) Hello and welcome to Guilin, Guangxi! That's probably the only Chinese you will hear from me but we were in The Sherpa Empire for the Guangxi Telecom 400. This was the final race in the 2nd Round of the Chase - 4 drivers dreams ended on the streets of the Li River Raceway.

Many at Jaguar Racing expected to be given not the best welcome by the people of Guilin, as we were wearing rainbow armbands. Turns out...not really. You see, this is Kai Qiang's hometown and Kai is known for being one of the more liberal characters from Sherpaland. As such, Li River draws a crowd that is more supportive of the LGBT movement than in Tibet. Sure there were some bigots but it wasn't Appalachia levels of bigotry.

You could say that was a blessing in disguise for Alfonso Mercado (@AM64) as he looked to try and to well among the farmlands of Pharak. He qualified 12th and certainly showed some talent here. He wasn't the most consistent but he will certainly take 11th and he will certainly blaze the fact the now has 420 points. He not that far behind a few drivers in the standings, so who knows how high he will be by the time this season ends.

As for Michael Stefan (@00Stefan), his weekend was...strange. He qualified 23rd and did have some good running in this race, but he only finished in 22nd. He wasn't distracted at all and he wasn't that bad, it's just in comparison to Mercado's race it sticks out. Now that Mercado is getting more consistent, Stefan has to show that he is too. He may have to look behind him in the standings as Meghan Sharpe is getting close, wanting to finish as high as possible in her swansong season.

Jeremiah Brooke won his 4th race of the season to keep the pressure on Qiang, who finished in 8th. The podium was rounded out by Stacie Houston and Clarissa Alanis Star. Other results mean that Cocoabo #28, Frank Bronson, Yraaga Gilli'i and Rinzi Aogar Zakhilwal are eliminated from contention. 8 retirements for this race, including open-charter Dinggu Wang and qualifier Scott Hawking. Chris Holmes, Hawking's new teammate, finished just behind Stefan in 23rd.

And then there were 8. 2 Sherpas, 2 Yeezies and 1 each from Cassadiagua, Valentine Z, Abanhfleft and Vilita and Turori. 8 drivers and 6 nations will fight it out for four spots in the final showdown at the Proving Grounds. That journey will start in a week in Saint Kanye. The Kardashia Chadwick Dealers 400 at the Autoring will be a spectacle, with NGADM providing more copies of the STK armbands for the weekend. It's on...definitely on!
Standings Watch: Stefan - 18th (945pts/1W), Mercado - 37th (420pts)

Rinzi Zakhilwal needed another miracle if he was going to keep his Chase hopes alive -- and he didn't get it. He got a thoroughly mediocre 20th place finish. After the race, he walked over a pile of large rice sacks that one of the farmers who lived on the track grounds had left sitting out, and just sat there on one of the sacks. His head drooped dejectedly. Tashi sat down beside him and put her arm around his shoulders. "It's okay," she said. "You'll be back to race another day."

"I know," said Rinzi, "but I'm annoyed with myself. I could not do what I came here to do. I worked so hard to get this far, and now I have to start all over again because I let it slip away."

"Maybe your God is just giving you a hard time so you'll appreciate it more when you win next year."

Tashi was teasing. She wasn't a Muslim and she sometimes poked fun at Rinzi for his belief in God, but he took her suggestion seriously. He brightened up a little and said, "I hope that is it."

As they were leaving the track, they found Dinggu Wang looking similarly dejected sitting on a bench made from old tires and scrap wood. He was holding a bottle from one of his sponsors, Nanchang Beer. Wang had struggled to keep pace with the field, and then spilled oil all over the track and retired on lap 149 out of 190.

Even though Rinzi had his own reasons to be disappointed, he still felt sorry for Wang and wanted to cheer him up. He tried the same approach that Tashi had used, and hoped that it would still work if it came from a fellow driver instead of a beautiful woman: "Cheer up, old man, you'll be back to race another day!"

"At my age, you can never be sure," Wang said sadly. He paused for a sip of beer, then added, "Even at your age. Qiang Kai is coming back to IRACT in the spring, and they don't have enough NSSCRA charters for you, him, and Li. One of you will be left without a ride, even if I don't make it in."

After a moment's thought, Rinzi said, "I think Li might have something else lined up. When she was giving interviews this morning, she seemed sure that she was going to be back next year."

"Li always thinks she's going to win," said Wang.

"This was different," said Rinzi. "She sounded like she knew."

Li River Speedway, Guilin, Sherpaland
The Guangxi Telecom 400

Carl Tanner, commentator for NSSCRA on SKYNET Sports 12: Nice clean pass by Brooke on the 7 of Star, and now he's gone up to third.
Shaun Pitt, Tanner's partner: Dagans still one and two, a second and change from the rest of the pack.
CT: We see Logan here in second, giving her teammate a run for her money.
SP: She's not in the Chase, but it looks like she's still fighting for the win.
CT: Or maybe she'll just be there to push Houston ahead, we don't know for sure.
SP: Meanwhile, Stiller's in the top ten, what a move by the Kanyean veteran, getting past Gil Archer, the rookie from Abanhfleft.
CT: "Let me show you how it's done, boy."
SP: Yeah. And now that 3 car is all over Stevenson's tail.
CT: Let's get back to the situation up front. It's still Houston first, Logan second, Brooke third, entering lap 173 of 190 here at Li River Speedway.
SP: Moment of truth for our twelve remaining Chasers here, only seventeen laps until they know if they stay alive or start planning for next season.
CT: Oh, and Alvarez with a great block on Cocoabo #28. Anyway.....

[skipping to Lap 178]

CT: Logan negotiates the turn. Can't shake off Brooke though.
SP: For those first-time viewers at home, Logan is the girl in this situation.
CT: Side by side now. Star is closing in.... through yet another turn.....
SP: And now Brooke has the advantage!
CT: Trying to get away from Logan, and once again, only his friend and rival, Stacie Houston, in the crosshairs. Let's get an onboard view of that 18 car.
Jeremiah Brooke: I'm coming for you, Stacie. I'm coming for you.
Raymond Goldfarb, Brooke's spotter: You're clear of the 11, bro. Let's go get that 27 next.
JB: Copy that.

[Lap 185]

SP: Six more laps to go in Guilin, including this one.
CT: Cocoabo #28 needs to make up positions, and fast!
SP: But it can't find away around that 46 car.
CT: Once again, that's a beautiful throwback scheme for all the Yeezie cars.
SP: I think Stiller's is my favorite.
CT: Moving on back to the situation up front....
SP: Carl, Brooke's been blazing quick these past twenty laps or so, don't you think?
CT: Well, ya can't blame him, he entered this race barely above the cut line, so now he's trying to make up as many points as he can.
SP: He's all over Houston's back bumper now.
RG: Go get her, bud.
SP: Another turn.....
CT: And they're side by side now!
RG: Inside, buddy, inside.
SP: We all know the deal when these two meet.....
CT: Ooh! Some contact.
SP: They're scrambling to the line.
CT: You love to see it, folks.
SP: And Brooke leads lap 185, but barely. Houston's making her move once more, though.

[Lap 188]

CT: This is is, folks. Stacemiah at their finest.
SP: But don't forget the rest of the pack, jumping at the chance to play spoiler to these two.
CT: More contact.
SP: Through another turn, now.
CT: Who's gonna take this lap?
SP: Houston got loose! The 27's loose!
CT: Brooke capitalizes as we enter the second from last lap!

[Lap 190]

SP: Jeremiah Brooke. Three wins in the season so far, including the first back to back of the Chase era. Kai Qiang took his fourth win last week in Hampton Island, could Brooke follow? He's leading by almost a second, and trying to pull away.
RG: Just a couple more turns, man. Hold 'em off now.
SP: Stacie Houston, on the other hand, hunting for her third visit to victory lane. Slams the door on Star, but can she....
CT: 18 just took the turn too wide!
SP: Still in the lead, but it's been cut down!
RG: Come on, man. They're closing in. Just a little longer now.
JB: I'm trying my best.
RG: 27 back on your bumper.
JB: Seriously? Not today, pal.
SP: Final turn of the final lap.
CT: Who's it gonna be?
SP: Brooke trying to shake Houston off, Houston looking for a chance to make her move....
CT: And they're approaching the start/finish line.
SP: Here comes Star! And here comes Houston making the pass..... but no!
CT: It's Brooke!
SP: Jeremiah Brooke takes win number four!
JB: YEAH!!!
RG: Awesome, bro!
CT: And he advances to the Round of Eight. Houston is second. She'll advance too. Star, third.
SP: Logan. Li by a nose over the Shark. Four females in the top five.
CT: YG, Qiang, Stiller, and rounding out the top ten is Drake Stevenson.
SP: Let's take a break.

"Vasily, are you awake?" Olga Semyonovna Gatutina asked as her laptop screen went dark. "Brother, are you there?"

"Yes, yes, Olga, I'm here," Vasily Semyonovich Gatutin replied, but it took a few more moments before his face finally appeared on Olga's screen. "What is it now, Olga?" Vasily asked his younger sister.

Olga thought about the next thing to say, but then she shook her head and muttered, "Never mind, Vasily. Sorry for waking you up."

"Come on now, Olga," Vasily said. "There is obviously something that is bugging you. And it's bugging you enough to actually chance waking me up in the middle of the night from... wherever the hell you are right now. So out with it. You know you can tell me anything."

Olga sighed and ran a hand through her hair. "Oh, God, Vasily, it's this whole Archer thing," she finally admitted.

"What? Is he finally getting on your nerves after he got on everyone else's?" Vasily asked half-jokingly.

"I wish," Olga replied. "Oh, how I wish it were that easy. The man's pushed a few buttons far too many times for the liking of a few people. I've got people out here wondering why Archer is still in the Chase, and why I haven't suspended him at all after this latest incident of him outing one of his fellow drivers as a homosexual."

"Ah, that does sound difficult," Vasily muttered with half-hearted sincerity.

"Vasily! I am serious about this!" Olga said loudly. "I seriously don't know what to do! I don't want to give the impression that I am actually condoning what Archer is doing, even if it could put his Chase opponents at a psychological disadvantage, but at the same time his behavior is giving UrGa a bad name! I just... I just don't know what to do!"

Vasily nodded his head. "I think I understand your predicament now, Olga. Now, listen to me carefully. I am going to ask you a few questions, and the answers you give me will help determine the course of action that you have to take. First question, Olga: has Archer done anything after his suspension that will warrant another suspension for a race weekend?"

"No, not really," Olga shook her head. "I only suspended him for Bolgano for causing the incident with Linde and Aye, just like the rulebook says. All the other things he's done has only involved sniping at other drivers through twii.tur."

"Okay. Second question, sister: do you want UrGa to continue challenging for the NSSCRA championship?"

"I certainly never expected Archer, or anyone else in the team really, to get as far into the Chase as we are in right now," Olga admitted. "I was just content with letting the team make its mark in the competition. But now that Archer's in with a shot... Yes, I know that at this point it's a long shot, but still... There's no better way to stamp your name in a competition than to win it. And depending on how the rules go, he's already got the Rookie of the Year under lock and key. So... are you telling me that I should keep Archer on the team for as long as possible?"

"You're certainly getting warmer," Vasily said. "Now tell me what I did to Ostap Pinchuk after he called one of my pit crew a slur."

"You suspended him," Olga replied automatically. "No, not just that; you actually cut him and replaced him with your reserve driver. Wait, now I'm confused, Vasily. Do you want me to keep Archer or to drop him?"

"Don't strain yourself too much, Olga," Vasily cautioned. "You know the reason why I decided to drop Pinchuk for the rest of the season?"

"No, but I have this feeling that I'm about to find out."

"Pinchuk was not challenging for the CGPRA drivers' championship," Vasily said. "Far from it, actually. He's actually cost the team points in a number of races. It was actually a relief when I finally had a good enough reason to kick Pinchuk out and get Serebrov in. Now that was a move that I don't regret making ever."

"So what are you saying, Vasily?" Olga asked.

"I'm saying that the decision that you make about this is a decision that you must make yourself," Vasily replied. "Don't let me, or anyone else for that matter, tell you what to do. You've got all the data and the experience in front of you, sister. I had the data and everything in front of me and I made my decision based on that information. What does the information at your fingertips tell you to do, Olga?"

Olga made to answer, but Vasily raised up his hand to stop her. "You don't have to answer me right now, sister," he said. "I will learn of your decision soon enough. Good night, Olga."

"Wait. Vasily, that's it?" Olga asked. "That's all that you have to tell me?"

"Why? Isn't that more than enough?" Vasily said. "Good night, Olga," he repeated, and then he ended the video call.

"Vasily, hey!" Olga called out, but only the blank screen of her laptop stared back at her. "Oh, I really hate you so much sometimes!" she said through gritted teeth. Her older brother always loved to tease her about everything, and tonight was no exception at all.

"Hey, guys, you notice anything wrong with this?" Guillermo Archer asked his fellow drivers for UrGa, pointing at a screen showing the total points tally of all the drivers to have participated in the current season of NSSCRA.

"What the fuck?" Wilma von Cärinthen asked. "Is this a fucking joke?"

"Nope, not a joke. I'm completely serious about this," Gil said with a straight face. "What's wrong with this table?"

"You could at least give us a clue as to where to look," Leonidas Baxter added.

"At the top, at the very top," Gil pointed. "Tell me what's wrong with the top of this table."

Both Wilma and Leo leaned closer to look at the table. "I must be tripping," Leo conceded. "I ain't seein' nothing wrong with that."

"All right, Guillermo, you've played your little game," Wilma confronted him. "Now are you gonna tell us the answer to your little riddle?"

"You guys really can't see it? Seriously? I told you, it's right at the top," Gil repeated.

"Enough of this shit! What do you think is wrong with the table?" Wilma asked back exasperatedly.

"I told you, it's right at the top," Gil said. "Tell me, who's on top of the table?"

"Kai Qiang?" Leo replied in a questioning tone, as if he was now also beginning to doubt the accuracy of the table.

"There we go! Finally!" Gil cried out. "Finally, someone sees it too! Kai Qiang is on top of the standings once again! And with four wins under his belt to boot!"

"Oh, Jesus Christ," Wilma muttered. "This has something to do with what Qiang said about your wife, isn't it?"

"And you know it," Gil said. "I thought Qiang was my boy, but after I heard him talking about those things I now have no choice but to stop him from being able to defend his NSSCRA championship. A man of such dirty mind cannot and must not be allowed to be rewarded for his filth."

"Have you ever stopped to think that maybe the reason why he said what he said was because you were acting completely irresponsibly back then?" Wilma asked with a raised eyebrow.

"That's completely missing the point," Gil retorted. "If Qiang really wanted to talk shit about me, he should have just talked shit about me. There was no need to bring Brigitte into the conversation in the first place."

"But this seems to be a complete overreaction if you ask me," Wilma admitted. "Is it because Qiang said Brigitte faps to me?"

"Dude, I've fapped to you too," Gil shot back. "And I wouldn't even have minded if Qiang accused me of that. But he didn't; he brought Brigitte into it. And for that reason I can't let him defend his title."

"All right, hot shot, now how do you plan to do that?" Wilma asked. "You tried to mind game him, and it didn't work. And you haven't been able to push him around on the track as much as you would've liked. So what now?"

"Leo," Gil said, turning to the third UrGa driver. "You're friends with Jeremiah Brooke, right?"

"Aren't we all?" Leo shrugged. "I mean, we're friends with the GFR guys, right?"

"And Jeremiah is friends with Stacie Houston," Gil continued. "What do they call those two again? Stacemiah?"

"Yup," Wilma nodded.

"And there you go," Gil said. "There's your answer. We are going to throw our support behind Jeremiah and Stacie and everyone else still in the running in the Chase who actually has a shot at winning the title."

"And what does that mean? Moral support, technical, what?" Wilma asked.

"Well of course I'm talking about moral support!" Gil exclaimed. "What else could I be talking about? And while you two are doing that, I'm going to continue trying to mess with Qiang's race. If I can't mess with him outside the track, I'm gonna do it in there. He has, sadly, given me no other choice."

Every now and then, the Valentians would have a highlight, or a moment, where a character shines extraordinarily in something that defined them, or have more attention given to them. This time, it would be Gwen Tracer Allison, or the Fate of the Omniverse, that would steal the limelight.

Her performances were stellar in the previous two races, finishing 4th and 3rd respectively with little to no mechanical problems. When she first stepped into the world of racing back in NSSCRA 8, she would constantly use her abilities to ensure that she does as little mistakes as possible, perhaps to aid the others in a way too, without interfering too much that they are constantly miracles. After all, the Valentians were known by a few (both positively and negatively for feats extraordinary to humans). It would be paramount that Gwen does not use her powers too much to either make herself the winner, or to even save some people.

As the races went on, and with a new season, Gwen limited herself to her perception, only reversing when a death of a racer from any other teams is certain. Mayhaps she can't try to cut down 100% of the DNFs, including her own's, but she can certainly stop people from dying in a pile up.

All of this, of course, was kept a secret. No one else other than the Valentians know about her powers, and no one else would know what kind of shenanigans she would be doing, if any.

Adjusting her formal outfit, Gwen went out of her lounge to take a few photos with the Valentians, the drivers from other countries, and solo shots of herself.

"Well, can't hurt with a little bit of limelight, I suppose!" Gwen thought to herself while giving a bit of a smirk. Almost everyone knows Gwen, and this is due to her unmistakable Valentian height that recently has to be restricted by a guideline when they are in a racecar, along with the bright paintjob of her car. #31, along with the colors, would be something that she stuck to from the beginning, and perhaps to seasons further down the line.

The race in Guilin, however, would prove that not even the Fate herself is immune to the horrors of a road course. Just like her friend Jolyn, Gwen had problems with the sharp twists and turns of the course, overshooting and undershooting said turns. She was determined to finish and yet at the same time, her mind was getting constantly distracted by the fact that she finished 15th in the end, with the 3rd position going to her friend, Clarissa, this time.

“Maybe I am just getting a little too complacent!” Gwen thought to herself, in her personal lounge and having a drink; after all, the next race won’t be anytime soon, and she certainly figured that she could use a break, along with practicing her driving skills and studying more physics theories in hopes that they will help her out.

“Ahh, my dear darlings and friends!” Jamie exclaimed with her usually posh Transatlantic accent, going through the letter that she has just received, “How delightful! A letter from Saint Kanye, asking if I would like to join their open charter battle.”

“Oooh, fascinating!” Clarissa gave a large smile, still happy about her performance in the Sherpa Empire, with a copper medal hanging on her neck, “Wait, isn’t this the one that you told us about a week ago or so?”

“Oh, yes, this message was indeed several days ago, weeks even. I am only talking about now because I missed the memo to check my email, and all of that. I actually got into it, of course, and I suppose it is time for me to start practicing on my own, and to tune up my vehicle if needed.”

“Well, leave that to me and the crew! That #63 will be humming along nicely with the other three vehicles.” Jared replied proudly.

“Thank you very much, my friends!” Jamie stood up, her height dwarfing everyone around her except Valentina, who went back to her normal height and was napping back in the dropship.

The next morning, before they take off to the next destination, the Valentians decided to visit the local market for a bit of R&R, all to relax their minds, as well as to buy whatever that attracted their eyes the most. Valentina shrunk herself, along with the rest of the Valentians who range around 8-10 feet when they are not inside their car.

Image

Other than the three drivers, the rest of the Valentians joined along as well, with the dropship’s automated security system activated in order to prevent unauthorized takeoffs. They heard that the local marketplaces are filled to the brim with all the curiosities they they can find. Valentina perhaps could even find some magical talismans, or something along the way.

"... And this is where we used to shop around, Sherpa Empire, I mean," Jolyn continued with explaining to Valentina, "You'll be hard pressed to find something that you don't like."

"Hmm, sounds interesting! So did you guys buy anything last season?"

"Ohh we did. Just some charms, jewellery, here and there. It's not really magical as in the magical potion or spell sense. But you can definitely smell it in the air, right?"

"Well, a little bit. But I don't know whether it's magic, or Gwen's food."

Gwen would be seen eating with a plastic bag of curry puffs, which the Valentians didn't see until immediately then.

"Ooh, sorry, haha! I zipped off to buy some of these. Would you like to try one?"

"Ahh, maybe later."

The Valentians went off their separate ways in the marketplace, looking around for things that they can buy back home. They also would be taller than the local populace, which attracts quite a fair amount of attention, though for the most parts, they were left alone and treated as regular customers, which the Valentians don't mind and in fact, did not want special treatment. The marketplace itself was teeming with people and activity - many different colours and textures from all the merchandise at display.

Clarissa went to one of the floral vendors, which sells good ranging from cut flowers to potted plants. She looked around with a smile on her face, while the vendor also greeted her politely, perhaps a little fascinated by the form of Clarissa herself (her blue skin is definitely a standout).

She looked at the little pot with colorful flower plant on it. It seems to stand out more than the others, with each flower yielding rainbow petals.

"Ooh, I like this one! How much is it?" Clarissa asked, pointing at the flower pot.

"This is $10, Miss!" the vendor said in a completely different language, which Clarissa managed to decipher.

"I'll take it, thank you!" Clarissa said back with a translation, along with handing over the money. She took the little flower pot with delight, like a little child fascinated by the colors of the world. "Ooooh!" she went.

-----

Gwen too was walking around with a curry puff in her hand, distracted by just about everything - people looking at her, vendors, the aroma of food. That proved to be quite a hazard, as she accidentally bumped into something with her rather long legs.

CRASH!

This was then followed by a flurry of exclamations and swears. It turns out, Gwen knocked into a priceless antique that was sold by a nearby vendor, and now that vendor was on her case, face red with fury.

"Oh I'm so sorry, but... shouldn't you like not put priceless antiques there?"

The scolding, and perhaps some insults, would come to Gwen's way. It perhaps escalated to the point that the Valentians were surrounded by angry (and confused) vendors. Whilst she does have the money and means to pay for the damages, she figured that she would not do that.

She shoved the man rather harshly, which was more than enough to send him down on the ground.

"Ahh, now that's good workout..." Gwen thought to herself. However, this was just the first phase of her plan.

"Okay, that's enough. Rewindddd!"

<< REW

Gwen too was walking around with a curry puff in her hand, distracted by just about everything - people looking at her, vendors, the aroma of food. That proved to be quite a hazard... for the most parts. Gwen kept her head and her body still, making sure not to make sudden moves to crash or hit onto anything.

The antique pot was still intact, and the vendor, along with the rest of the Sherpa people, are none the wiser.

"Off the record!" Gwen thought to herself, "Now, if only I don't need to keep rewinding for my mistakes."

She finished the rest of her curry puff, followed by ordering another food item from the nearby vendor.

"Well, a girl's got to eat!"

-----

In the meantime, Adriana walked around with Jolyn, the two looking to get something out of this place. For all intents and purposes, as much as they love the place and walking around, they were not feeling it just yet.

“Anything in mind, Jolyn?” Adriana asked curiously, looking around at the various vendors and items. She always wanted an upgrade for her robotic parts, one way or another. While she is not jealous of Clarissa’s advancements, and that the Valentian tech can help out anyway, it was more of a wonderment on whether or not the Sherpa people have something that could enhance her devices. Perhaps not, she thought.

Jolyn bought a few paintings for herself, along with a gift for Clarissa, which she figured that the latter might appreciate it just a little bit.

Image
"Purrrr."

Clarissa, in the meantime, got Jolyn a gift, though it was rather difficult and rare to see why or how someone was selling musical equipment in a marketplace such as this:

Li River Speedway, Guilin, Guangxi Territory, The Sherpa Empire
The Guangxi Telecom 400
And sure enough, just a handful of laps into the 190-lap race, Frank Bronson rolled down pit road, took off his safety harnesses and climbed out of his Super Skychief. Waiting for him was Mark Arbuckle, the Buckridge-based HASCAR driver, a shorter, somewhat stockier driver than Frank, but someone who could fit into the car pretty easily. As soon as he climbed out, Team Blue crew members helped Mark into the car, strapped him in and sent him on his way. Frank wasn’t wanting to see it, though. He took off his helmet, took one look back to the car and started walking back towards the Team Blue Center.

He waved off a couple of reporters wanting to ask him a question or two and stared a hole through some photographer wanting to get the perfect shot for his local media outlet. He didn’t want to be bothered, and for most of the rest of the race, Frank hid away in the Team Blue Center, not wanting to talk to anyone or watch the race. It bothered him significantly that someone else was driving his car, and the last thing he wanted to see was that 8 car going around the track while he sat on the sidelines.

Eventually, he came out to watch the last few laps to see Mark bring the car home 13th. It was not good enough to get back into the top eight for the next round of the NSSCRA Chase. His best chance at a championship in 20 years had ended. But every cloud had a silver lining. He could now go out there and race without the pressure of a championship looming large over him. Sure, the NSSCRA title was the “big one” as far as stock car racing was concerned around the multiverse, but sometimes the pressures of competing for NSSCRA gold was a little bit too much.

Drake Stevenson didn’t have that worry – at least, not yet. His lone concern was wondering if Chris Holmes was going to cause a scene on the track. He wondered if Chris was going to put the bumper to him at some point or another during the race and if he was going to try to put Drake into a barrier to send some kind of message. In fact, during the pre-race driver’s meeting, Drake cornered Chris to ask him that very question.

“We going to be cool during the race, Holmes?” Drake asked.

“Yeah,” Chris said, giving Drake a look that would have killed. “We’re going to be cool.”

“Alright, I just don’t want…”

“WE ARE GOING TO BE COOL,” Chris interrupted, with a stern tone of voice before looking straight ahead, almost as to dismiss his former teammate. “That’s final.”

And sure enough, when the two were around each other on the track, it seemed as if Chris gave Drake more room than other drivers. So much, in fact, that some within Team Blue wondered if Chris had been planning something for the future. Would he move Drake out of the way sometime in the future to express his displeasure for what had happened in the past?

Either way, Drake found himself enjoying himself in the Sherpa Empire – this was a place he enjoyed visiting, and this was a track he had developed a liking for. Drake ran near the front all race long, and when the checkered flag dropped, Drake found himself in 10th. He was certainly building for what he hoped would be a great NSSCRA X campaign.

And then there was Taylor Henderson, who had an up and down day. At one point, she was third, chasing down Liangmei Li and Kai Qiang for the lead. It seemed like all was going to go well for her. But on the final lap, it seemed like someone put the bumper to her car and sent her for a ride, costing her many positions en route to a frustrating 27th place finish.

After the race came to an end, Taylor went looking, once again, for whoever had dumped her. This was the second time someone moved her in the late stages of the race, and she was certain she was going to punch someone’s lights out. But this time, a handful of crew members grabbed her and physically dragged her to the Team Blue Center to calm down and cool off.

It was there that Drake, Frank and Mark were already debriefing after the race when quite a ruckus burst in through the front door. It was the crew members literally carrying Taylor back inside the Center.

“GOD DAMN IT, GUYS, LET ME GO!” Taylor screamed. “SOMEONE WRECKED ME AND I’M GOING TO WRECK THEM!”

“Hey Drake, go get your girlfriend,” Mark quipped, referencing rumors that Drake and Taylor were dating.

The joke did not go over well with Drake or Frank, who looked at their fellow driver rather sternly.

“Read the room, asshole,” Frank said to Mark. “Now’s not the time for that shit.”

Mark looked around at Frank and Drake and realized he had a bit of time to go before he could gel with his teammates, which is really what he was trying to do. Either way, Drake went over to check on Taylor, to make sure he was OK, while Frank went to pack his things up to get ready to head home.

As Drake Stevenson came up to Chris Holmes, Chris could feel himself tensing up. There was a lot of things Chris wanted to say and do to his former mentor, but if he did them now, it would both cause an ugly scene in the driver’s meeting room and potentially undo whatever work he had done to improve his tarnished image. He wanted to tell Drake to go fuck himself. He wanted to grab him by the throat and tell him to kiss his (REDACTED DUE TO PG-13 RULE). But doing so would have been a grave mistake.

Essentially speaking, Chris didn’t want to speak to Drake or even give him the time of day. When the race went on, Chris wanted to send Drake into a barrier or into a building lining the Li River Speedway. Hell, maybe even through what he had heard was Kai Qiang’s old house. But doing so would have led to a multinational shitstorm, especially if it came out that the accident was intentional. He was representing Wreckeria now, not Hapilopper. He might have set off those old bad relations between the Wreckerians and the Hapiloppians again. And he might have pissed off the locals for demolishing someone’s house. And he might have royally pissed off Kai Qiang for the second time in as many years. So just the thought of it was enough to stray him off of even getting near Drake.

Later on, some asked him if he was giving Drake more room than usual on purpose. Chris refused to comment on those questions. Either way, it seemed strange that Chris was giving him that much room.

“I’ll get him later,” Chris said to himself as Drake went past. “That fucker.”

All things considered though, Chris was doing pretty respectable for the first race driving for Hawking-Byrd. A 23rd place finish was not a good finish by his standards, but it was a great run for the team, which had spent most of the season either toiling in the back of the field or failing to qualify for events.

And speaking of failing to qualify for events, it seemed like Scott Hawking had started to get the hang of it again, making the field this time. He ran most of the race this time, only to pull off when it seemed like something was starting to sound funny in the engine.

“Why’d you pull off?” Chet Byrd asked Scott.

“Felt like the engine was going to blow,” Scott said. “Just heard something real funny in it, almost like something was rattling, and I don’t want to destroy any parts.”

A quick inspection of the engine revealed that, sure enough, one of the valve springs in the engine had just broken, and the engine was this close to blowing to bits. Chet saw the broken valve spring himself, looked over towards Scott and called for him to come on over.

“Got something to show you, Scott,” Chet said. “You were right.”

Scott saw the broken valve spring, but at least had peace of mind in the fact that next season, he was certainly going to have better equipment coming straight from Preston Autos.

Guangxi Telecom 400, Li River Speedway, Guilin, Guangxi Territory, The Sherpa Empire :: As the laps were winding down at the Li River Speedway, it was becoming apparent that Yraaga Gilli'i would not get the chance to redeem themseles in the NSSCRA Championship 4. The Tropicorp Racing Supply backed driver was one of the last to clinch their place in the NSSCRA Chase with a victory in the penultimate regular season event. They would then go on to quickly secure their place in the second round of the chase by winning the Playoff Opener in Hapilopper. From there, however, Gilli'i and the entire Vilita and Turori Motorsports team had struggled. No Top 10's across the board. Even worse for Gilli'i and the #41 Tropicorp Racing Supply Dart team, however, was an early exit from the Knox 420 in Delano. With the other 11 Chase Teams at least showing enough competence to finish races, the DNF had put Gilli'i and the team in a massive hole that they were never quite able to climb out of. Heading into the Guangxi Telecom 400 race weekend they had their work cut out for them. Technically they didn't need a win. In reality, however, they did. Naturally, the Li River Speedway was statistically one of Gilli'is worst on the circuit. There was not a lot of optimism in the #41 team camp heading to The Sherpa Empire.

Things started looking brighter however as Centur Tiones sat on the pole for the event and Gilli'i was able to click off the fifth fastest time in Qualifying. Unlike the previous four events, Vilita and Turori Motorsports had shown up fast off the track at the Li River Speedway. Some speculate that part of the reason for Vilita & Turori Motorsports quick start was due to data acquired from the Dart Group who had fielded a swarm of entries into the Rumble in the Rice Fields event just one week prior.

Gilli'i had a strong smooth day near the front of the pack, by far their best ever performance at the Li River Speedway. Unfortunately, Gilli'i would never quite make it to the front of the field. After climbing as high as 2nd place in the second half of the race, Gilli'i used the whole car up trying to make their way to the top spot and eventually fell back dropping 4 positions in the final six laps to cross the line in 7th place. There were no words exchanged over the radio after the finish. Just silence.

Two seasons ago, Yraaga Gilli'i came agonizingly close to a championship. 2nd place. Runner-up. One season ago Gilli'i had dominated the circuit, won more events than any other but faltered in the finale finishing last among the Championship 4. As disappointing as those outcomes were they would all be put into perspective during NSSCRA Season 9 as Gilli'i and the #41 team wouldn't even advance to the Round of 8 no less compete for the title. To make matters worse, there would be no representation for sponsor Tropicorp in the remainder of the Chase with Team Tropicorp's Cocoabo #28 also eliminated.

Gilli'i took the #41 Tropicorp Racing Supply Dart straight to the truck after the race by passing the garage area. Gilli'i hopped out of the #41 and went straight into the hauler. Elsewhere in the garage area, teammate River "Shark" Suzgar, who had extended their all-time Top 10 streak at the Li River Speedway, was climbing out with a look of relief. It was Suzgar who narrowly bested the Cocoabo for the 8th and final spot in the next round of the playoffs. Just like that, Suzgar was back in a tie for third place in the standings 6 points from the lead. The points had been reset and the struggles of the first two rounds could be forgotten. From this point forward, all it would take is one race victory. One win and the trip to Tundra Falls would be a fight to become the first two-time NSSCRA Champion.

World Cup, In Saint Kanye?
By Chelsea Dufresne, Concord Heights Times

Fans of the Cassadagan soccer team have been disappointed by the teams sudden exit in the group stage of the World Cup proper after their dominating performance in the qualifiers. During qualifying, Cassadaigua scored 103 goals over the 24 games, while allowing just a little more then one goal per match. Everything seemed to be smooth sailing for the team, and they seemed destined to at least be very competitive during the World Cup itself. As we know, that did not go well, and fans were left turning off the TV for the tournament, at least in regards to hoping that their home nation would win.

For members of the World Cup team itself, it was equally disappointing. One player that had a breakthrough campaign was midfielder Meghan Wolcott, the 25-year old gem who did just about everything for the team. As the team prepared to go home from Mriin a lot earlier then they expected, Wolcott had another idea. “Let’s go to Saint Kanye!” she thought. Wolcott, who is also a huge stock car racing fan wanted to make the most of the period of time that she was expecting to be away from Cassadaigua anyway. Meghan’s fandom has been on display for the followers of the fantasy competition, where she entered just like any other fan might. As that competition has evolved, Wolcott has advanced into Chase rounds (I believe, though don’t know the official total). More then half of the team has decided to follow Meghan Wolcott to Saint Kanye, a nation that does not attempt to qualify for the World Cup. When asked about the biggest thing she had to explain to her teammates about NSSCRA, Meghan stated, “Explaining that Vilita and Turori was a combined entry. They thought that was odd, since they are of course used to them both being individually dominant soccer nations.”

As for the Kardashia Chadwick Dealers 400, it is the first race of the round of eight and Stacie Houston will start from the fourth position. Of the remaining drivers, there are a lot of familiar faces, including the last three champions of the series. Saint Kanye, still looking for their first title, has two drivers remaining, Jeremiah Brooke and Skip Stiller. Guillermo Archer, Gwen Tracer Allison, and Liangmei Li also still have a chance to win the title. Stacie Houston is excited to battle these seven other drivers, “Getting down to crunch time as we are, the intensity is picking up, points mean so much. They are even more critical now as Tundra Falls gets closer and closer. We continue to have good results, but so are every one else, that is why they are here.”

Keeping Up With Kardashia

This blog was written by Derrick Carlisle, Jaguar Racing's Social Media Manager

And then there were eight. Eight drivers from six nations will fight it out over the next three races to decide who will go to the Proving Grounds with a shot at the crown of NSSCRA. The Kardashia Autoring in Saint Kayne will kick off this battle as the Kardashia Chadwick Dealers 400 arrives. With more of NGADM's purple armbands being ordered by the race organisers for this weekend, the Yeezies will be hoping that the tri-oval produces the drama that many expect this late into the season.

For Jaguar Racing, their aim is simple: to score as many points as possible while having minimal impact on the Top 8. Harpa Gylfisdóttir (@IsfruinJR) doesn't want to cause any controversy with the championship contenders especially this late into the season. JR will race them, but we won't try to decide the fate of the title ourselves. Those tactics come from Gil Archer's playbook and we would never stoop that low.

Qualifying was very competitive between our two drivers. Alfonso Mercado (@AM64) was the faster of the two in 9th, but only by 0.014. Michael Stefan (@00Stefan) will start in 11th, just ahead of Gil Archer and just behind Rinzi Aogar Zakhilwal. It's nice to see both TJUN-ian doing well for once. A sign of things to come? Maybe...

The front row was locked out by the local team, with Thea Alvarez on pole and Skip Stiller just behind her. The local open-charter slot belonged to Sage Caldwell, who will start in 32nd. The other slot was decided during qualifying and was won by Anavella Ariiki of Tropicorp, whos charter slot was given to Euroli Islander for this weekend. Euroli starts 34th, Ariiki in 27th.

All in all, tomorrow's race will certainly be decisive. No one wants to give up ground this early so expect drama both on and off the track...

'Dagans Dominate Final Event of Round 2.

For just a moment after the second race in the second round of Vilita & Turori Racer's NSSCRA Pick 'em Playoff Chase Challenge it seemed as if the Cassadaiguan Grip on the Pick 'em Competition had finally been loosened. None of the three Cassadaigua based competitors had won either of the first two events of Round 2 and they were sitting precariously just a handful of points above the Cutoff line for the Round of 8. Competitors from Saint Kanye, Tropicorp and Filindostan had taken control of the top spots while the Cassadaiguans were for the moment relegated to middle of the road status.

Of course, it was just for a moment. Facing the prospect of a dominant season ending prematurely in the Round of 12, @PinkHKluvs2718 and @Filly_Gurl27 stepped it up to produce a dominating performance to close out Round 2. Separated by just one point, Hannah Kennedy (@PinkHKluvs2718) edged out Jessica Reynolds (@Filly_Gurl27) for the top score of the final race in Round 2 to guarantee her place into the Round of 8. Reynolds would easily slide through with her performance which took her just one point off the top three-race score of the round which was posted by the Kanyean participant Melvin Branigan. Branigan, who uses the twii.tur handle @melvin_the_gr8, had a massive round 2 showing after picking up Kai Qiang in place of Thea Alvarez who was eliminated in the Round of 16. While Melvin was top of the board in Round 2 it will be a struggle for the Saint Kanye based participant to keep up in Round 3 as one of two participants who has already utilized all of their roster moves for the duration of the competition.

While the Dagan entries flexed their muscle in the final event of the round, the same could not be said for the participants from Vilita & Turori. Representing one-third of the competitors in the Round of 12, it was a poor showing all around from the local pickers which was perhaps represented as a mirror of the performance of the Vilita and Turori Motorsports drivers in the NSSCRA Playoff Chase. With Yraaga Gilli'i and the #41 Tropicorp Racing Supply Dart Team having been eliminated and the #14 Vilaye Energy Drink / Toys '4' All Dart Team of River 'Shark' Suzgar II having barely advanced in the 8th spot, there were not a lot of points to go around for competitors with those drivers on their roster, many of whom were those participating from Vilita & Turori.

Among those eliminated heading into the Round of 8 were top regular season participants @Pogoaib92 and @Ametza014. Vilitan Celebrity contestant @SurfinSummer also missed out which means that Cassadaigua's Meghan Wolcott will be the highest finishing Celebrity participant in the V&T Racer NSSCRA Pick 'em Playoff Chase Challenge for Season 9. Among the four competitors eliminated there was just one, @King_Of_The_Mountain, who was not from Vilita & Turori. It was a disappointing ending for the 33 year old Tenzing Tsang (@King_Of_The_Mountain) who was the last remaining entrant from The Sherpa Empire. Tenzing was hoping to gain a boost into the Top 8 due to the fact the last race of Round 2 was being contested at the Li River Speedway in The Sherpa Empire but with no drivers from their roster finishing in the Top 5 at the Guanxhi Telecom 400 it was just not to be for the Sherpalander who joined the trio of Vilita and Turorians on the outside looking in.

With the conclusion of Round 2, just one round remains before the Championship Finale and the remaining competitors represent five different nations. Cassadaigua leads the way incredibly still having all three entrants across the entire Pick 'em competition still in contention for the Championship. Not a single Dagan competitor has been eliminated at any round of Pick 'em from Race 1 in Tundra Falls, to the end of the Regular Season and on to each round of the Playoff Pick 'em Chase Challenge. Should that trend continue through the Round of 8 into the Championship then the Cassadaiguans would occupy 3 of 4 available spots to determine the title.

Unlike previous rounds, however, they won't simply be able to advance through consistent performances. Unlike the NSSCRA events that the Pick 'em competition relies on, the remaining 8 competitors are only competing among themselves and not against any ineligible participants. It means that each of the three events will produce a winner that can guarantee their spot in the Championship 4 if they hadn't already won an event during that round leaving just one guaranteed spot that is assured to go to a participant solely due to points accrual. While @Filly_Gurl27 and @PinkHKluvs2718 have never struggled to produce a top score, Celebrity participant @MeghanWolcottOfficial will need to change her Modus Operandi or fight the field for that lone points position in the Final Round.

Of course, the rest of the field will have no intention of rolling over and letting the 3 Cassadaiguans fill up the Championship 4 slots. Of the remaining five eligible participants there are still two competitors remaining from Tropicorp, the outspoken @rubbers and the Cocoabo Park based @ceeptrainer2. Each has demonstrated the ability to produce top scores and could be in position to spoil the Dagan party at the top. The remaining three competitors represent Saint Kanye, Filindostan and Vilita and Turori respectively with the unassuming @eelcat827 who has quietly survived through the rounds without making a big splash, ultimately finishing 11 points clear of @Pogoaib92 at the cut line.

As with the conclusion of Round 1, participants would have the opportunity to make changes to their lineup before the start of the third and final round. Cassadaigua's celebrity participant @MeghanWolcottOfficial was the only participant whose assigned driver was eliminated from eligibility requiring a necessary change to the Celebrity Roster. Only one participant, Tropicorp's two participants @rubbers and @ceeptrainer2 are the only competitors who are eligible to make 2 roster changes per the Roster Change rules as each had a rostered driver eliminated from the NSSCRA Chase at the Round of 12 stage and neither had used their one free roster swap. Three competitors, @FujiKYK22, @melvin_the_gr8 and #eelcat827 have no eligible roster changes remaining due to their allocations being used in prior rounds while the rest of the field can still use their one free roster change if required. Rosters lock at the drop of the green flag in Kardashia.

After what has been an interesting week for Glorious Free Republic Motorsports' main trio (or couple of weeks for the Rumble participants), it was time to move on from the trees and fields of Guilin, Sherpaland to the neon billboards and skyscrapers of Kardashia, St. Kanye. Skip Stiller may have spent a lot of time in the team bus to Guilin sleeping, but now, on the plane home, he was unable to no matter how much he tried. A new round of the Chase is starting, The previous ones mean nothing now. He'll have to grind it out for the next few races if he wanted as good of a farewell tour as possible.

Fellow Chaser Jeremiah Brooke was similarly deep in thought. The Round of Eight starts on home asphalt. Thousands of Yeezies will be watching the Kardashia Chadwick Dealers 400 at the Kardashia Autoring itself, with millions more at home. Brooke loves his hometown fans. He knows he'd have to put on a show for them, but he doesn't mind the extra pressure. After all, pressure in the NSSCRA can't be eliminated, only managed.

At the airport, the large crowd that had formed around the GFR welcoming committee showed just how much the Kanyean population supported their local drivers. All of them. Not only Brooke, Stiller, and fellow full-timer Thea Alvarez. Photos were taken, autographs were signed, messages of good luck were spoken. After the impromptu meet and greet that lasted about half an hour, it was off to the team headquarters.

"Jeremiah!" said team president Luke Brown, greeting Brooke as the group of racers walked into the lobby. "That was a great win you had in the Empire, great way to build momentum for the home race, and hopefully beyond, Nice job out there, and good luck." He shook the hand of his driver, who replied, "Thank you sir. I did it for the team. Not to mention the sponsors, and the whole country."

"I like that", responded Brown. "What a good kid! And you, Skip, good on you for staying alive in the competition too. Any plans for next season though?"

Stiller answered, "Well sir, I have my family, and my racing school..... definitely gonna be watching the Yeezie races, maybe some other big races overseas. Try to get Meg to come with me too. Commentate a few, if SKYNET lets me."

"Meg?"

"Meghan Sharpe", Brooke clarified, referring to one of the drivers for Team Cassadaigua. "She's retiring too."

"Oh. Thea! Let's talk about you."

"I'm good, Mr. Brown." Alvarez smiled, but then turned her head down to look at the floor. "Well, aside from getting eliminated, but I feel I'm just gonna focus on getting thirteenth now, and supporting my teammates any way I can, hoping for them to advance."

"Don't feel bad about it." Brown patted Alvarez's back. "There's next season. You're still young and have many more chances to win a title. And you're still growing as a driver. If you're good now, imagine you in your prime."

A little smile formed on the young racer's strawberry lip glossed mouth. "Thanks for the encouragement, sir."

The GFR president turned to Sage Caldwell next. "Listen, Sage, you're having one of the open charters, so I also want you to perform the best you can. You've collected so much data in your previous runs as our R&D driver, which I say has greatly benefited your teammates, and you as well, since you're gonna take over Skip's ride next season. Keep at it. And to our prospects, you may not have won the Rumble at the Rice Fields, but I'm still proud of you. You'll only improve with time if you keep putting in the effort."

The rest of the week went by like a blur. Stiller was able to spend quality time with his wife, as well as personally handle a few sessions at his racing school. He held a time trial for his students, with the fastest ten getting tickets to the 400. He also put up some more videos for his vlog.

Brooke made a surprise hospital visit for his young (and non-contagious) fans; Hyde Medical Group, though pleased, noted that it isn't really a surprise anymore if he visits every single time he goes home for a Kanyean race. He quite literally bumped into the Cassadagan national soccer team; after apologizing, he had a little chat with them, talking about things, like their respective sports, travel to different countries, and Stacie Houston. Brooke even recommended them a good place to have lunch ("The Bar and Grill at Smokey Hill").

Alvarez went on a shopping spree, saying that she needs some retail therapy after being eliminated, and that buying stuff is one of the great Kardashian (demonym for the Kanyean capital) traditions. Unsurprisingly, she was mobbed by fans more than once. Some of the makeup and perfume she bought were given to friends and fellow racers Taylor Henderson, Hana Bhe and Wilma von Cärinthen.

Caldwell had WGP2 champ Abdoulaye Goita stay with him at his place for the week (he had a guest room as well). After missing the first Kanyean race of the season at Jalton, due to food poisoning, the dreadlocked R&D driver took extra safety measures while preparing food to make sure it won't happen again to him, or to Goita, or to prospects Daryl Calhoun and Ricky Lee, who often hung out with the two for video game and movie nights. One time they even had a jam session. Lee played the acoustic guitar, and Caldwell brought out a set of bongos he owned.

Of course, aside from these, the team practiced on the track and the simulators. Stiller and Brooke, the two remaining Yeezie Chase contenders, put in more work, consulted with their crews a bit longer, anything to get an advantage over the foreign competition.

Saturday's qualifying sessions went well for GFR. Brooke will start sixth, Stiller second, and Alvarez on pole, something she cheered about. Caldwell would have a lot of work to do from thirty-second, but then again, he's at a familiar track.

"Hey guys", said Stiller to his teammates in the garage area. "Leo Baxter just texted me good luck. I know he's a friend, but that display of moral support kinda came outta nowhere, you know?"

Brooke responded, "That's funny. While walking here I had WVC tell me "you can do it" and "go get 'em" like she's my hype man or something. Thanked her of course for that extra boost of confidence, but still, that was unexpected."

"Gil's still in the Chase, isn't he? Why are the Fleftics siding with us then?" asked Alvarez, referring to the controversial Guillermo Archer.

"The way I see it, even Gil's teammates are so sick of his shenanigans, they'd rather have someone else win", replied Caldwell.

"But why us?" said Alvarez.

"Maybe it's a Yeezies versus Fleftics thing, you know, from when us and them were rivals in hoops?" was Stiller's reply.

"Or maybe it's not just us. Stacie, Qiang, maybe even the Shark too", spoke Brooke.

"So basically.... not Gil?"

"Exactly, Thea."

The Kardashia Autoring is ready for tomorrow's Kardashia Chadwick 400. The fans, watching in person, on the air and on the web, are ready. SKYNET Sports 12, the Kardashia Kibitzer, and other media outlets are also ready. The staff and crew members of Glorious Free Republic Motorsports are ready. And of course, their four drivers are ready.

(Paintjob schedule: Special schemes, first seen in the Pencurve, in Kardashia; secondary schemes in Jebslund; throwback schemes in Vangaziland.)

Kardashia Autoring, Kardashia, Saint Kanye
Leading up to the Kardashia Chadwick Dealers 400
The hours leading up to an NSSCRA race was more often than not a flurry of activity. The NSSCRA garages were full of activity of teams making their last minute adjustments to get their cars ready for the race, while fans started to file in to the track. Meanwhile, just outside the Team Blue Center, the three drivers for Hapilopper’s de facto national auto racing team were signing autographs for fans who had milled around the area. The crowd had started to grow around the Team Blue Center as Drake Stevenson, Frank Bronson and Taylor Henderson obliged the fans’ requests to sign a variety of souvenirs.

But as the crowd started to die down, Chris Holmes walked past. Holmes, wearing the Warner Hall Pizza colors for Hawking-Byrd Motorsports, stared a hole through the Team Blue Center and Drake Stevenson. Drake spotted him as well, and with not a lot of people around, Drake motioned for him to come over.

“Holmes!” Drake shouted. “We gotta talk. Come over here.”

Chris did not want to do this. He didn’t want to speak to anyone with Team Blue, but he figured the sooner this got out of the way, the better.

“OK, Stevenson, talk,” Chris said after walking towards the three Team Blue drivers. “Since you want to talk so much, talk.”

“What’s going on?” Drake asked. “I don’t like being on bad terms with people, and it seems like you’ve got an issue. What is it?”

“What is it?” Chris asked, visibly agitated that Drake didn’t seem to get it. “After all that’s happened, and you’re asking what the issue is? After all that happened in TJUN-ia, after all that happened with me getting shitcanned by Team Blue, and after you didn’t do a god damn thing to stick up for me? What’s the issue. Jesus fucking Christ, Stevenson.”

“What did happen in TJUN-ia, Holmes?” Drake asked, with a touch of anger in his voice. “I didn’t go there. I wasn’t at the Jungle Fever Party. I was back in Hapilopper City getting our home set up for your ungrateful ass, and by the way, I seem to recall you trashed the place when you got back.”

“Excuse me?” Holmes asked. The situation was getting a little bit more tense by the minute. “Trashed the place? Who was the one that got us kicked out of our apartment, Stevenson? It was YOU with those fucking Valentian beds! You were the one that had those walls taken out! Don’t talk to me about trashing a place.”

The two were getting closer to each other, trading insults to each other. Meanwhile, Frank and Taylor looked at each other and looked over towards the group of fans that were watching this private drama spill out.

“Taylor, radio to the rest of the team we need them here NOW,” Frank quietly said to his teammate. “I’ll text Chet to get his guys over here to get Chris out of here.”

But it almost seemed too late. Chris and Drake were trading insults at each other, which led to Chris shoving Drake. And that was it. Drake didn’t think a thing about it and tackled Chris to the ground. The fight was on.

Meanwhile, in the garage, the three Team Blue crews were almost lazily working on their cars when they heard, all of a sudden, a frantic radio transmission from Taylor Henderson, who sounded like she was freaking out.

“WE GOT A FIGHT!” Taylor screamed. “HOLMES AND STEVENSON ARE AT IT AT THE TEAM BLUE CENTER, GET OVER HERE BOYS!”

Everyone at Team Blue dropped their things and rushed over to the Team Blue Center. Meanwhile, Drake and Chris were still jockeying for position and uttering insults to each other.

“You did this to yourself, motherfucker!” Drake spit out at Chris as he grabbed him and slammed him against the wall of the Team Blue Center. “All of this is your fucking fault!”

It appeared Drake had the upper hand before the crews from Team Blue and Hawking-Byrd Motorsports rushed in. Drake had taken control and had started hammering Chris with punch after punch when crews from both teams pulled the two drivers apart. Chet Byrd grabbed Chris and physically took him to the motorcoach, visibly angry at what had happened. Meanwhile, Frank Bronson and Tiny Peters, a 6’8”, 340-pound mountain of a man, physically threw Drake into the Team Blue Center to cool off.

“We don’t need this shit, Stevenson,” Frank said. “God damn it!”

To make matters worse, any hopes of this getting swept under the rug were dead on arrival. People had their phones and posted video of the fight over twii.tur. The Hapilopper Television Network led off their coverage of the Kardashia Chadwick 400 with video footage of the fight, and if you saw Drake walking through the pits getting ready to race, you couldn’t not see the evidence of a fight. For the first time that anyone could remember, Drake wore sunglasses on the pit road, something he never did.

Dinggu Wang and his crew had a busy week, repairing the #79 car and shipping it to Kardashia. IRACT let them camp out at the Li River Speedway until they were ready to leave for Kardashia, rather than going home to Nanchang in between. As they were swapping out worn and damaged parts, a guy from Wang's crew studied the oil pump and the tubes that connected it to the engine -- which had ruptured during the race causing oil to spill and the engine to seize. "Does this look weird to you?" he asked.

"What?" Wang asked.

"Here. It almost looks like it was cut."

Wang looked where the man was pointing. "That is weird," he said.

"Do you think someone cut it?"

Wang pondered the greasy mess for a moment. "It does look weird, but who would cut it? If it was Qiang's or Li's car, sure, someone might want to take them out of the Chase -- but why would anyone sabotage me?"

"Maybe someone who's mad that they couldn't race? Or someone from Macau that's got money on the line?" (Macau is the gambling capital of the Sherpa Empire, including betting on NSSCRA races.)

Someone from Wang's crew went over to IRACT's main office and asked if they could investigate what happened to Wang's car. Mengxia Shao was in the office sending out payments for some of IRACT's bills, now that the income from the Guangxi Telecom 400 had given them a healthy balance in the bank account. Shao put down the stack of bills and went down to the garage to see what Wang was on about. She looked at the damage, but she didn't seem impressed. "Okay, that's why your car was leaking oil. What about it?"

"Doesn't it kind of look like somebody cut it?"

Shao shrugged. "If someone sabotaged your car, they did a really bad job. It ran fine for 148 laps."

Wang didn't like the way she brushed him off. It occurred to him that Shao herself was one of the drivers who had raced against him at the Rumble in the Rice fields and came up short. It was a conflict of interest for her to be the one investigating (or declining to investigate) his break down. He began to wonder if she could have sabotaged his car out of jealousy.

Shao saw the look on his face and decided to try a more conciliatory approach. "I'll save the security footage from the garage, if you want NSSCRA to review it."

Tashi Chokpa Sherpa was trying to figure out just why Rinzi Zakhilwal was so eager to meet the players from the Cassadagan World Cup team. In fact she was a little annoyed, since part of the reason seemed to be "they're cute." It wasn't just wanting to see attractive women, though. Rinzi had played football when he was in school. They managed to find Meghan Wolcott and a couple of her teammates and introduce themselves.

After they had finished chatting with the Dagans and they were on their way back to the garage, Tashi said to Rinzi, "You know, I love you whether you win or lose, but you would win more if you weren't so easily distracted. Liangmei Li is not as talented as you, but she is always here to win. Sometimes, I think you are here to play. You are like one of those birds that sees something shiny and forgets everything."

"A magpie?"

"Yes."

Rinzi laughed. "That's not really an insult, though. I like magpies."

"I never said I didn't like you," said Tashi.

Kai Qiang was not happy with the results of qualifying at the Kardashia Autoring. Starting 14th wasn't that bad, but he was going to be surrounded by Fleftics, and he didn't trust them, especially Archer. Even if they didn't try any dirty tricks, they might still try to help each out other at Qiang's expense.

Qiang had only arrived in Kardashia shortly before qualifying because he wanted to stay in Guilin as long as he could. He'd gone up to the family shrine to pay his respects, visited some friends, and of course spent some quality time with his wives and Kami. For some reason, "quality time" involved getting smothered with a pillow, but it was still good to see his family.

No Wins but Strong Performances at Shellshock & Rumble Races

Guangxi Telecom 400, Li River Speedway, Guilin, Guangxi Territory, The Sherpa Empire :: The dream came crashing to an end when the checkered flag fell at the Li River Speedway as Cocoabo #28 and Team Tropicorp found themselves officially eliminated from the NSSCRA Chase at the conclusion of the Round of 12. While initially the team were just happy to have finally qualified to be apart of the NSSCRA Playoff Chase for the first time in Team history, once they got there they saw a clear path to the Title Race in Tundra Falls. If they could have gotten to Tundra Falls, anything could have happened at that point.

Instead, they will be looking back and wondering where they could have gotten just six more points. Of course, an 18th place finish in the Guangxi Telecom 400 was the decisive result that saw the team bumped out to the 9th position in the Playoff Chase standings. A finish of 12th or higher at the Li River Speedway would have been enough to send Cocoabo #28 to the Round of 8. Of course, one race prior in Hampton Island, it wasn't 6 positions that kept Cocoabo #28 from the Round of 8, but six laps. Team Tropicorp were in prime position with Cocoabo #28 leading with six laps to go but the Cocoabo driver ultimately lost the battle with Kai Qiang. At the time, it seemed like a great result - the top of result that moved the team inside the Top 8 temporarily and could have propelled them into the next round. It ended up being the worst result possible. One spot short. Another season away from a Cocoabo Champion.

Returning from The Sherpa Empire the plans for the remainder of the season changed instantly. No longer would the focus be on Cocoabo #28 earning the championship. That quest had ended. Now it was once again about building momentum and preparing for the following season. Cocoabo #28 had already established themselves as the teams #1 driver - an honor they slowly clawed away from the grips of Cocoabo #78. There was little doubt that Cocoabo #28 would return for NSSCRA Season 10. Outside of that, there were no guarantees.

Cocoabo #78, who had been the teams star driver during NSSCRA Season 8, has yet to win during NSSCRA Season 9 and has seen an overall dip in their form. Anavella Ariiki has never lived up to the expectation put upon her shoulders with just one memorable runner-up finish in the Cocoabo Forest.

While nothing had yet been announced, it was obvious to all that Ariiki was hanging on by a thread to her seat in the #88. So much so that the second-season driver was relegated to the Teams fourth entry for the Kardashia Chadwick Dealers 400, having to compete against a slew of other drivers for a spot in the race instead while Team Tropicorp development driver Euroli Islander took over the third charter for the event.

Ariiki knew that missing a race would not look good on her resume. Whether she was trying to prove to her current team that she belonged in her current ride, or looking to show other teams that she would be a valuable asset to their programs, she knew she had something to prove. She had always shown Qualifying as a strong part of her driving repertoire but she had never had to do it with the pressure of missing the race with a bad lap. While she wasn't pleased with her time, it was good enough. She was best of all the non-chartered cars and she was in the race. Now it was time to demonstrate that her benching was not best for the team.

The Rumble in the Rice Fields had been fun, but for Abdoulaye, it had been a reminder of what he already knew: he wasn't cut out for stock car racing. Or, more accurately, if he wanted to have any success, he'd have to put in a lot of effort and time training; it was unreasonable to expect to be able to just drop into the middle of the NSSCRA season and hope to win a race or two. Abdoulaye hadn't really expected that—he knew it would have been unrealistic—but he couldn't help hoping. In the WGP2, he'd been good, but inconsistent. It seemed that here in NSSCRA, he'd been reliable, but mediocre. He wasn't sure that was actually better.

NSSCRA had reminded him of something else: how fun it could be to race. That was why he had started hanging around the kart track when he was a kid—just for the pure fun of it, the excitement. But as he had moved up the ranks toward professionalism, racing had become less of a game. There was a lot of stress involved: trying to find a kart, find a place to train, finding a way to pay for everything, and worrying about whether he'd be good enough to get a professional contract.

Abdoulaye remembered when he'd spent a few weeks jetting around the multiverse, unsure he'd have money for a flight home, trying to find a way into the WGPC. Then, when he'd gotten a chance, he'd blown it. It had been the most depressing period of his life. Then, afterward, when he'd signed with SVJ Racing for the WGP2, he'd been filled with excitement. But that literally became his day job. It wasn't "hang out at the kart track on a Saturday afternoon", it was "get up early and keep your boss happy". Then there was the stress of the championship battle, too. Abdoulaye and SVJ had won the double; he couldn't complain. He'd been ecstatic. And the whole season, it had been a joy to do what he'd always wanted to do. But the stakes were so high, that even with the ups and downs, the highs and lows, the disappointment, excitement, and joy, he hadn't thought about it just being fun.

NSSCRA was fun. There were no stakes for him. He wasn't in the chase, he wasn't going to be around all season to compete for anything. It was just the one NSSCRA race and the Rumble in the Rice Fields. He'd gotten to follow the Yeezies around for a while, just watching them, cheering them on, and actually having time to be a bit of a tourist in the different places they visited. On top of that, compared to the WGPO events, NSSCRA was a party. The WGPO had this pristine image it was always trying to manage. Professional TV interviews with the drivers, who were picked from elites across the multiverse. Multi-million dollar development projects. Scenic, storied street circuits. NSSCRA wasn't nearly as pretentious. The fans were just everyday people, the cars were theoretically everyday cars (although that could hardly be further from the truth), and each weekend, a lot of the drivers and their teams just hung out in the infield, drank, and partied. No one took themselves too seriously. Abdoulaye wasn't sure that culturally he'd be a great fit for the sport in the long run, but it certainly made for a great vacation. And along the way he'd learned a new-found respect for stock car racing.

So Abdoulaye happily accepted the Kanyeans' invitation to stay for the rest of the race weekend in Guilin, as he had already planned to, but also come back to Kardashia for the next race. And sure enough, he had just as much fun with the Yeezies as he had before. After the Rumble, Jeremiah, Thea, and Skip showed up, and it was good to see them again. Abdoulaye was almost bowled over by the hug Thea greeted him with. The most exciting thing of all though, was the race itself: Ricky Lee had made a comment about Abdoulaye being around as a "champ" to inspire the Yeezies, and when it turned out that the Kanyeans did really well, Abdoulaye joked that he'd done his job. "Really well" was an understatement: Jeremiah won, which was the second time Goita had been at the track to watch him take the checkered flag, and the last time had been the second of part of a pair of back to back victories.

"Do you only win every race when I'm watching?" Abdoulaye teased Jeremiah afterward. "Or is it like this all the time."

The end of the race had really been a thriller. Jeremiah had beaten out Stacie Houston just in the very last lap, which would have been exciting anyway, but was also fun to watch since the two were very good friends. They didn't let their friendship get in the way of some healthy competition, as the race at the Li River Speedway demonstrated, but being aware that Stacemiah was a power duo both on and off the racecourse made their battle for first in Guilin that much more exciting to Goita. He was happy to see both his teammate and his teammate's friend on the podium at the celebration together.

Being reminded of the Yeezies' friendship with the Cassadagans gave Abdoulaye an idea. The race was on the 25th, and that same night the Reçuecian soccer team would be playing against the Cassadagan team in the group stage of the world cup. Soccer was much bigger in Reçueçn than racing was, and even athletes like Abdoulaye from other sports often followed it. Abdoulaye in particular loved soccer (his West African heritage doubly reinforced that). So making up his mind, he pushed his way through the crowd of reporters and celebrating fans to find Jeremiah and Stacie.

"Hey, I assume this celebration will be continuing tonight," he said. "Do you want the party going and maybe put on the Cassadaigua world cup game?" Stacemiah were happy to agree, and so that evening they had a combined NSSCRA win celebration/world cup watch party. It was a great time. [OOC note: I've got permission from both Kanye and Cass for this—thanks guys—and I'm planning to write an rp about the party/game for the world cup.]

Afterward, it was back onto the GFR Motorsports jet for the flight home to Kardashia. Abdoulaye had occasion once more to be thankful for the Yeezies' hospitality; this time he stayed at Sage's place, and since this time he didn't have a race to get ready for, he could spend even more time relaxing, watching movies and playing some video games with Sage, Ricky, and Daryl. He even heard that Jeremiah bumped into the 'Dagan soccer team who'd come to visit for the race—Abdoulaye hoped he didn't run into them on race day. He thought it might be a bit awkward, since Reçueçn had been partly responsible for their early exit from the tournament.

Abdoulaye also went to visit Thea's family again. He was glad he could stay with Sage—he didn't want to impose on the Alvarezes' hospitality a second time—but he also wanted to get a chance to talk to Thea since it seemed like she needed some cheering up. She seemed to be beating herself up over her performance, but in Abdoulaye's opinion, that was silly. As he saw it, her performance was top-notch, and the fact that her teammates were second and sixth in the standings shouldn't detract from that. Goita thought her season had been more than respectable, and he let her know. He wasn't quite sure what else to say, since he knew that saying "hey, you're beating yourself up over nothing, this isn't a big deal" might have the opposite of its intended effect. But he tried to be encouraging and convince her to stop being so hard on herself. "I'm a professional racer myself," he joked, "and I had to bust my ass just to crack the top twenty. You make it look so easy. You're doing great."

Hoping that once more he'd done his job as inspiration and moral support, Abdoulaye was very excited on raceday to take his spot alongside Ricky and Daryl in the infield and pit garage, watch the race, and see how the Kanyeans would do on home soil again.

Xuan Tou was feeling good about his plan to recruit pit staff from top Sherpa teams. Liangmei Li's crew chief Luo Xin was interested. Houzhi Chang had turned him down flat, but Tou had expected that. Recruiting Chang had always been a long shot.

The construction of Beiyang's cars for NSSCRA 10 was also going well. There was still a lot of fine-tuning to be done, but they had a prototype ready for testing.

What Tou didn't have was good drivers. The team roster currently consisted of Hengxing Tian and two empty slots. Well, it was time to do something about that. Tou decided to hold a test at the end of the NSSCRA season, where drivers could compete with each other for a spot on Beiyang's team, and Beiyang could collect data on the cars' performance. The test would be held at a short track near the company's headquarters in Shenyang, and it would be open to pretty much anyone who inquired, as long as it seemed like a serious inquiry and not just some joy-riding idiots. To try to get a better crop of prospective drivers, Tou sent a few emails and made a few phone calls, reaching out to drivers and encouraging them to apply. He specifically invited Anavella Ariiki, Dinggu Wang, Yi Tan, Hui Chen, Ganglie Zhe, Ricky Lee, Maddie Alexander, Mengxia Shao, Shuzhen Zhu, Abdoulaye Goita, Kev Schorebrook, Ellie Lindskog, and Floyd Hackerbee -- as well as two North Chinese drivers, Jiaguang Hu and Gongming Gao.

Tou was convinced that the collapse of VMR was a problem with their funding and equipment. He thought the Vangazi drivers still had the talent to succeed in NSSCRA, and after two seasons of disappointing results and no support, they would probably be eager to make a fresh start on a new team.

But it remained to be seen who would actually answer the call...

Kardashia Brings the Expected and the Unexpected

This blog was written by Derrick Carlisle, Jaguar Racing's Social Media Manager

Another weekend comes and goes, but the pressure still remains on the 8 drivers that remain in the hunt for the NSSCRA crown. The Kardashia Chadwick Dealers 400 on the famous Autoring expected the drama and the high-quality racing - and it got both on the same day.

The drama came during the hours before the green flag when videos of a brawl between Hapilopper's Drake Stevenson and Wreckeria's Chris Holmes started to emerge. They show the two men getting into an argument that turned physical very quickly. They had to be separated by crew members of both Team Blue and Hawking-Byrd Motorsports and the incident made it to twii.tur within a few minutes. It certainly caused a stir among the paddock and will certainly be talked about over the next few days. Now, I want to direct a message to both TB and HBM management: this situation cannot continue. Both men clearly have issues with each other that need resolving fast if they are to continue racing each other in this series without causing disruption. Either you make them make up or you bar them for seeing each other or some shit like that. Your guys' call, but that's just my take on it.

Back to the racing. Alfonso Mercado (@AM64) didn't really like the previously stated events but he had to race none-the-less. Starting in 9th, he was just about the most constant of the two JR drivers but he did have his struggles. Finishing in 11th, he is certainly showing the talent that TJUN-ia-MRO saw in him during the team's formation. He will certainly be one to watch over the final three races.

As for Michael Stefan (@00Stefan), he felt a bit bad about the previously mentioned situation. It effectively started in TJUN-ia with Holmes' suspension and he felt as though that he could have done something to prevent that. Maybe he could have warned everyone in advance of the lax alcohol laws of TJUN-ia? You may say that there was nothing he could do, but those thoughts were still in his mind as the race began. 15th is certainly an improvement for Stefan and the final three races should be entertaining for him.

Stacie Houston booked her place in the final 4 after winning this race, ahead of Leonidas Baxter and Thea Alvarez. Holmes didn't race but Stevenson did, finishing down in 25th. Sage Caldwell had the race of his life in 12th while Anavella Ariiki was in 28th as the other non-charter.

We return to Jebslund next, specifically the Kermania Fortress Run. It will be interesting to return to this nation after their NSSCRA team pulled out, but let's hope the tempers around the paddock are slightly dimmed for the third-from-lats race of this season.
Standings Watch: Stefan - 18th (977pts/1W), Mercado - 35th (456pts)

Not sure why we are getting involved with this. It's a Hap/Wreck issue, not a TJUN-ian one

Three Weeks ago Matt Augustine was working as a member of KRD Team Iona when shortly before the race he got a phone call.

"Hey Matt, it's Andy, Johnny's brother"

"Yo what Johnny got into now?" Matt immediately joked to Johnny's brother Andy

"Well he needs some help with an opponent, Apparently they didn't take a bribe to let him in the upcoming race. He's furious, but you know he wants to stay legit so 'I need ya"

"What for?"

"Just do a lil side job for me, come here and I'll give ya the tool"

When Matt got to Andy's place he got his gear. A pear of scissors a mask and a electronic jamming device.

"What am I to do?"

"Just give the oil line a snip at night, shouldn't do much damage but should be a message sent ok."

While at Sherpa Matt got a text from andy telling him to do the deed, he put on a ski mask, jammed the signal and prayed to his God, that the security would be asleep not noticing the camera temporarily going out., and frankly given this track was backwater hellhole already he figured it wouldn't be hard.

So the deed was done the cut got worse and worse then "Boom" the oil line finally blew taking his engine with it. Maybe he had noticed something funny maybe not, but surely he would know not to have taken no for an answer next time.

So Matt was still doin pit work when he saw the79 blow up, he had a smirk on his face but not much emotion shown otherwise, he was never an emotional person>

Next week heading to Saint Kanye Matt got a phone call, it was from his old friend Johnny, a driver he had helped early in his career and had even worked as a bouncer in one of his clubs.

"Well you did a good job, but I saw Dinggu's back"

"You want me to do something"

"Nah the Yeezy's and their dumbass qualification system will probably screw him over better than my brother can." Just wanted to say think you for trying though"

After which no one was none the wiser, maybe Wang had a thought but the evidence would be hard to trace, no one knew about Matt Augustin's past history and no one would blink an eye at the though of a mole for a mobster.

The Kardashia Chadwick Dealers 400 was an action-packed race full of daring passes, occasional crashes, and lots of heart-pounding high speed drama. Qiang had been right to worry about starting off surrounded by the Fleftics. They blocked his path making it difficult to move up, until he eventually got frustrated enough to clear a path with his bumper, cussing in Bengali all the while. "Qiang, I don't speak Hindi," his crew chief said over the radio.

"It's Bengali!" Qiang answered.

"I don't speak that either."

Even after Qiang was free from the Fleftics, things didn't get a lot calmer. And yet, at the end of it all, he finished exactly where he started: 14th place.

All the other drivers who were still in the Chase finished in the top 13, so that 14th place finish was certainly not ideal. Qiang's 4 wins from earlier in the season kept him afloat in a very tightly packed Chase field, but he clearly needed to do better in Kermania and South Stead.

He wasn't looking forward to racing in Kermania. The tight security and the heavily fortified city always put him on edge when he was there. The track didn't give him as much trouble as the Vilitan Mountain Challenge Course; he just found the place depressing.

Liangmei Li didn't much like Kermania either because there weren't enough useless glitzy girly things for her tastes -- but that was okay right now. It just meant there would be fewer distractions. She had finished 8th in Kardashia, which wasn't bad, but it wasn't a win, and she needed to stay focused. Otherwise she might end up like Rinzi, who was still bringing the Mayhem and the mediocre results.

The leaders of the Guilin Racing Club thought it was fishy as hell that there was a gap in the footage from the security cameras. They'd handed over the footage they had to NSSCRA officials, along with Wang's complaint, the physical evidence from Wang's car, a list of everyone who had access to the garage, and a statement from one of the farmers who lived on the grounds of the Li River Speedway. The farmer said he'd seen a suspicious-looking man in a ski mask.

When Wang arrived home in Nanchang, Mengxia Shao called him and updated him on the situation. She had not thought it was worth paying international rates for the call, and she had not wanted to distract him while he was in Kardashia. Wang asked if he could speak to the farmer himself, since he was still slightly suspicious of Shao. After speaking to the farmer and a couple of other people in Guilin, he was convinced that Shao was innocent. All the black people in NSSCRA -- Baxter, Ozoemena, and a handful of crew members -- could also be ruled out as suspects. The farmer thought the person in the ski mask looked white. Since he'd only seen them at a distance, he couldn't be sure they weren't Chinese, but they were definitely not black.

Besides the women and black people, many other people who had access to the garage could be ruled out because they had alibis. If this was a case of deliberate sabotage, the gap in the security footage made it easy to guess when it happened, and from there you could find out where people were at the time.

They didn't have a smoking gun, but the list of suspects was getting shorter...
