Week 1

*Matches in italics should be assumed to be "Game of the Week"

Chesterfield Settlers - 3 @ Weiss Blacks - 27
McNichols Vipers - 12 @ Birwood Dragons - 17

The Vipers' 3rd drive of the first quarter resulted in a steady, slow series that ended in a field goal. Andre Ramsey (QB), responded with a 50-yard pass, giving the Dragons the lead. This back and forth would continue until a thrilling 2-minute drive led by Ramsey allowed the Dragons to best the Vipers by a touchdown. We should expect big things from both teams this season, and this game may suggest Ramsey is ready for an MVP run.
Clarita Dominos - 13 @ Newtown Chancellors - 41
Mendota Knights - 22 @ Curtis Blues - 6

Week 2

Weiss Blacks - 13 @ Mendota Knights - 28
Newtown Chancellors - 20 @ McNichols Vipers - 21

This game of the week featured two teams fresh off of blowout victories. The Vipers had high expectations for this game as they game within short reach of defeating the Birwood Dragons. In the second half, the Vipers were able to gain their first lead and scored two consecutive touchdowns. Defensively, the Chancellors are incredibly strong, as shown by their 10 total team sacks, but the Vipers receiving core led by Matt Mathis tore their secondary apart.
Curtis Blues - 19 @ Clarita Dominos - 20
Birwood Dragons - 27 @ Chesterfield Settlers - 17

Week 3

Weiss Blacks - 14 @ Birwood Dragons - 17
Chesterfield Settlers - 20 @ Newtown Chancellors - 13
McNichols Vipers - 17 @ Curtis Blues - 20

Coming into this week, the Blues had a lot to prove. They almost scraped by against the Dominos last week, but ultimately lost by a field goal. Veteran QB Bradley Warren stood his ground against an intense pass rush attack by the dangerous Vipers defense. This was definitely a must-win statement game for the Vipers, as they beat the Chancellors last week and thinly lost against the Dragons the first week. Going into week four, the Vipers must win.
Mendota Knights - 17 @ Clarita Dominos - 31

Week 4

Birwood Dragons - 13 @ Mendota Knights - 21

The Mendota Knights upset the Dragons by keeping a consistent lead throughout the game. The Knights secondary was able to shutdown any pass attack by Dragons QB Andre Ramsey, and even when he scrambled their linebackers were there. This game places the Knights as a top-tier threat, as the Dragons look to bounce back next week.
Newtown Chancellors - 10 @ Weiss Blacks - 13
Curtis Blues - 13 @ Chesterfield Settlers - 10
Clarita Dominos - 24 @ McNichols Vipers - 20

Current Standings:

Mendota Knights 3-1
Birwood Dragons 3-1
Clarita Dominos 3-1
Weiss Blacks 2-2
Curtis Blues 2-2
Newtown Chancellors 1-3
McNichols Vipers 1-3
Chesterfield Settlers 1-3

7. Mendota Knights 8-0-10
8. New Liberty Knights 8-0-10
9. Curtis Blues 6-0-12
10. Birwood Dragons 6-0-12

With the addition of two new teams, the Weiss Blacks seek to defend their title against fresh competitors. Despite last season's turoil, the Chesterfield Settlers are league favorites, as they have picked up first round draft pick Elliot Chandler (QB) out of Cardo Federal University, and he's projected to dominate this season. With the new rules, only the top 4 teams will advance to the playoffs, making every game important. Will the Weiss Blacks upset the league again? Or will a status quo victor be crowned? Only time will tell.

One of the leagues newest teams, the East Bay Bandits, finished first in the league mounting an impressive inaugural campaign of 13-0-5. Their rookie QB Anton Reeves rushed for over 500 yards this season and completed 27 touchdown passes, winning Rookie of the Year and MVP. In their season series, the Bandits bested the Weiss Blacks twice and East Bay is facing them in the league semi-finals. The nation's initial spread has the Blacks falling to the Bandits, complicating their reign as league champions.

The Chancellors followed up their impressive first season by placing second in the league, finishing with an 11-0-7 record. Early in the season, the Chancellors were projected to have a relatively good season, certainly slated to make the playoffs. After an impressive second half, the Dominoes clinched their playoff berth.

This season, we got a repeat of last years Cardo Association Bowl as both the Blacks and the Chancellors returned. The Chancellors opened the game with a field goal, mounting an impressive drive against the otherwise shutdown Blacks defense. The Blacks answered back with a field goal of their own four minutes later. The next quarter, the Chancellors would score another Field Goal, maintaining their lead until the final three minutes of the first half. The game continued to be tied until Chancellors QB Josh Fredrickson threw to Matt Mathis (WR) for a 45-yard touchdown. The Weiss Blacks struck back in the closing seconds of the third quarter, with star half-back Darnell Brooks closing the drive with a 20-yard rushing touchdown. With ten-minutes to go in the fourth quarter, the Chancellors nailed a 46-yard field goal to take the lead, ultimately hanging on to it until the end of the game.

This season, the Bills must defend their CBA championship against an incredibly competitive field. With the creation of two divisions, it becomes easier for a team to make the playoffs, as they only have to compete against half of the league during the regular season.

This season was proof that the new system from the Association front office is going to be successful. Down to the final week of the regular season, the coveted fourth seed in each perspective conference constantly changed. For Divison 1, the Townsville Braves squeaked into the last playoff spot, besting Northwest.

This season saw two new potential dynasties rise as Brightmoore and New Liberty top their conferences, becoming the first Conference Season Champions. Brightmoore's pitching went unmatched, as they only allowed 99 runs on the season and ranked first in strikeouts. New Liberty's approach relied on muscle from their hitting core, with Designated Hitter Luis Casamundo leading the league in home runs at the end of the season.

Going into the playoffs, the Birwood Bills look to retain their championship. Although they didn't struggle per se, the finished the season a little bit above .500, a slight decline from last season's performance. In the Quarterfinals, they meet the McNichols Mariners, the team infamous for knocking out first seed Jefferson City Crimson in last years' playoff. Unfortunately for the Bills, they have another uphill climb as they must defeat the Smithtown Reds, the second seed in Divison 2.

Game 3: Smithtown Reds - 7 @ Birwood Bills - 4
Game 4: Smithtown Reds - 3 @ Birwood Bills - 1
Game 5: Smithtown Reds 11 vs. Birwood Bills - 0

These quarterfinals are an example of why baseball is such a great sport. After the dust has settled and we look forward to the semi-finals, both first seed teams have been knocked out and the reigning champion Birwood Bills has been eliminated. The Smithtown Reds, with perhaps the greatest comeback in league history, won three straight games to defeat the Bills after they were down 2-0 by the third game.

People are already placing their bets for the Championship game, with much of the nation favoring a Reds vs. Freemen championship series.

In an unsurprising series, the Tomlin Freemen defeated the Townsville Braves, who attempted to force a game seven, but their efforts proved to be too little, too late. In game four of the Freemen v. Braves series, the Braves were absolutely shutdown by Freemen pitcher Satchel Tyson, who threw for 14 Ks in 9 IP.

On the flip-side, the Mariners defeated the reds in 6 games, winning two straight mid-series to have a strong hold on the series lead. The most impressive element of the Mariners in the series were certainly their bats, dominating with seven runs in game six. The dust has settled, the net has been cut down and the St. Jude Cornshuckers have been declared CBL League Champions. There rise was quick and meteoric, finishing at the top of the league at 39-20, going on a 20 game hotstreak at the beginning of the season. Their competitors, the Clarita Gamblers, put up a solid fight, but the sharpshooting nature of the Cornshuckers bested a tough Gamblers defense.

Regular Season

Coming into the regular season, the Newtown Chancellors have a lot to prove as they come back from competing in the World Bowl and performing much better than most expected, beating out some of the ranked competition. With new league rules and 6 more expansion teams, there will now be two divisions and the top 4 teams from each division will have a shot to compete for the CFA championship. In addition, there will only be 14 games played for each team this season.

The most impressive expansion team is by far the Lake City Eagles, and they were lucky to nab a number 1 spot for the expansion draft, electing to choose Settlers back up QB Spencer Horton, who played behind a promising Elliot Chandler, who also has all eyes on him this season. The East Bay Bandits are also seeking to redeem themselves after an embarrassing first round loss to fourth seed Weiss Blacks. It should also be noted that this is Birwood Dragons QB Andre Ramsey's last year on his contract. He has made it clear that he wants a championship from the franchise, but can he produce?

Playoffs - First Round - Single Elimination

1. East Bay Bandits 39–13 4. Newtown Chancellors
2. McNichols Vipers 28–34 3. Birwood Dragons

1. Chesterfield Settlers 41–9 4. Clarita Dominoes

Division Championships - Single Elimination

1. East Bay Bandits 16–28 3. Birwood Dragons

In possibly the biggest upset in league history, the Birwood Dragons defeated the East Bay Bandits 16-28 in East Bay. The atmosphere of Barbara Weiss-Street stadium was incredible, filled to capacity at 90,000 fans. Andre Ramsey opened the drive with a 47-yard touchdown pass to Anton Spheres. The Bandits responded with a touchdown of their own, what would be the only Bandits touchdown for the remainder of the game. See you in the Cardo Bowl, you Dragons!

1. Chesterfield Settlers 41–10 3. Curtis Blues

Cardo Bowl

Chesterfield Settlers 35–20 Birwood Dragons

The Chesterfield Settlers have finally been crowned kings of the league after three straight seasons of failed hype. With last years drafting of Elliot Chandler and an entire off-season dedicated to development, Settlers fans had high hopes. Luckily for them, their hope worked this year, decisively winning the Cardo Bowl. A Dragon's defeat now casts a dark cloud over free agency and whether or not star QB Andre Ramsey will be returning. After turning in a MVP winning season, leaving him understandably frustrated as he's tasted victory the last three playoffs.
