Miracle Goal for First Win

Postby Jiqaz » Mon Feb 10, 2020 12:07 am

Raihan couldn't believe what he just saw, what he just did. Was the goalie distracted, was he just imagining this? He was quickly snapped from his shock as his teammates charged at him in jubilee. He wasn't a big goal scorer, but he just scored the game winner in AFC Imia's first international victory, his first goal in international play. He dropped to his knees seconds before being bowled over by the team. They lifted him on their shoulders, carrying him back into the locker room. The whole speech made after was a blur as adrenaline surged through his mind.

He sat at his locker as most of the team funneled out. He informed he'd be out to celebrate in a bit.
He grabbed his phone, seeing multiple messages.

He played them out one by one before calling the person who left them.
"Leon, I did it, I cant believe I did it."

Rosskile United Dressing Room:
Ivar was smashing his head against the wall.
"How"? he yelled "how are we doing so badly, those bloody Roman's are doing better then us, probably because of all the steroids there taking"
He turned to his team who were keeping quite trying to avoid Ivar's gaze.
"Listen up, he yelled, were playing next week and if we lose i will personally grab each and everyone of you and smash your head together till you cant tell which ones is which, is that understood?"
The team nodded enthusiastically certain Ivar wan't lying, they had to win next week

The Back Page of The Evening Crusader

Asgar City 2-0 Heartfilian Swans

News

  • Heartbreak for Olwar City as a last minute goal sees them suffer their first defeat of the season to Sirthrynk K.F. Mistake by Oki Lamama gifts Sirthrynk victory at home. p.39
  • Skjoldurians call for doping investigation into the Roman teams Iuventus and A.S. Roma. The CFA vow to investigate thoroughly, and are reportedly prepared to dock 70 points from both teams p.37
  • Asgar-Rome Hockey Cup: Asgar Ladies win 17-0 in final match of season to retain championship cup for 485th season running. P.35

Lineup: Asgar City – 1. Elvor Dasquin
2. Asoga Draha, 3. Hosa Gavia, 12. Tiberius Carius Herenus, 21. Cossus Gavius Commodus
7. Yasgo Puntun, 15. Yona Olwarnan, 17. Hinca Trinkos
9. Ferdina O’Palva, 18. Zacia Hoj, 19. Gareth Bale
Subs: 13. Dakka El Cora, 4. Polsa El Dasia, 20. Treni Pora, 6. Zavia Paychil, 8. Qua Noi Porkia, 10. Mal Yela, 11. Wilfi Berna

In a thrilling match, where Asgar City had much to prove, the home side emerged victorious, winning 2-0. Gareth Bale opened the scoring in the 23rd minute. Zacia Hoj retrieved the ball from Swan’s Henry Oxford, before passing it to Bale who volleyed it past Nigel Rose. During the celebrations, Bale received a yellow card – his second of the season - for removing his shirt and singing offensive songs regarding the promiscuity of the Heartfilian queen. At half time, O’Palva was substituted for Mal Yela, while Draha gave way to Polsa El Dasia. The match quietened down during the early stages of the second half, as both teams tried to find their feet, but as the clock hit the hour mark, Mal Yela was brought down in the box by Oxford, who received a yellow card for his efforts. Yela stepped up to take the penalty, and dispatched it past Rose and into the bottom left hand corner. The home fans began to celebrate early, as Swans fans began to leave the stadium in disgust. A fight broke out near the away fans as a group of City fans began chucking glass bottles at Swans fans, injuring two. The CFA have launched an investigation into the violence. On the pitch, however, the Swans began a vicious attack. In the space of 10 minutes, Elvor Dasquin was forced to make 3 magnificent saves. In the 84th minute, Gavia fouled Edward Bernard in the box, resulting in a penalty. Bernard chipped it towards the top right, but Dasquin’s fingertip save was enough to prevent a goal. The follow-through by George Valois was also blocked by the goalkeeper, who managed to retain the ball. At 87 minutes, Bernard won a free kick, and shot from 30 yards out, towards the top left, where another fingertip save maintained Dasquin’s clean sheet. Finally, in the 93rd minute, Jean Phillip ran clean on goal, but his shot was also blocked by the goalkeeper. Finally after a worrying 10 minutes, where not a fingernail remained unbitten, the whistle eventually blew, and City emerged victorious for only the 2nd time this season.

Speaking after the match, Bale gave the Crusader his thoughts on how he and the rest of the team played:
“It was a great team effort today. The Swans are known for being dirty, and we really had to keep our composure during the match. The only problem was my little song mid way through the first half, but in all honesty it was just a light-hearted barb, and I saw one or two Swans fans singing along. I loved my goal – I think it’s one of the best I’ve scored this season, and I’m really pleased to keep adding to my tally. Mal did great too – he’s had a couple of injuries already this season, and he’s only just coming back into the squad so he must feel great for getting that goal. It was a well deserved team victory, with the Swans only really posing problems right at the very start and at the very end.”
Elvor Dasquin talked about the final 10 minutes saying “Suddenly everything went hectic. A penalty was given, wrongly in my opinion. The player… Bernard, I think? He dived, it was a clear dive. But he stepped up and I knew. I knew where he was going. Top right. So I outstretched my arm, jumped and saved the ball. The follow through was weak and I collected it with little issue. The free kick a few minutes later was more guesswork than skill, I will admit. I was convinced he was going left, but I thought he’d go bottom, so I was lucky there.”
City’s manager, Racok Perkins said: “It was great to see the boys perform so well today, against such tough opposition. The Swans are a formidable team, and it is no wonder they are joint 1st on points. To win here is incredible, but to score 2 goals and keep a clean sheet is even better. I’m so pleased with the boys today. We’ve come back from our rest break and won our first match, and I hope this encourages the team to go out and keep winning matches. We’ve played 7, and we remain undefeated which is absolutely fantastic. I can’t complain about that. But we’ve only won 2 matches. Drawing matches cost us the title last season, and it looks like it will cost us the title this season. We need to step it up in front of goal. We’ve the third best defence in the league, but the joint third worst in front of goal. Drawing games means we lose two points, and we’ve dropped 10 already. If we’d turned those draws into wins, we’d be 7 points clear already. But I am pleased with today’s result. Bale and Yela did great to get their goals, but I really must congratulate Elvor, who really kept us in the game today. He made a couple of fantastic saves that really ought to have cost us.”

Acta Diurna

Sectio Ludi: Legae Camponum

Shocking reverses for AC. Roma over the past few weeks, as the jewel of Roman football dropped to third place in the league following a shock defeat to the Heartfilian swans and despite a one nil victory to their sworn rivals Iuventus in the infamous Imperial Derby.

Despite this, however Iuventus have still managed to retain their tenuous top of the table position, thanks in part to a string of stelar victories over the past few weeks. Head of the crucial home game against Asgar City tomorrow their patron Prince Octavius Trajan released the following statement.

”I have full and total confidence in Iuventus’ ability to persevere over the Asgarthians this week. Asgar city has an impressive ability to dodge losses, but the great drawers will undoubtedly meet their match! Afterall, Olwar City could only manage to draw us in Asgareth, and non-Romans rarely fare well in Nova Roma…”

His Imperial Highness went on to echo the Imperial Football League’s vehement denial of the doping changes leveled against both Iuventus and AC.Roma by the Skjoludrians last week, further claiming that this sort of ploy could ‘only be born from the intense bitterness and jealousy felt by all lesser beings when they consider the majesty, power and immense skill of the Imperium.’

In other news, the CEO of Franci Cibi, provider of the sports drink ‘fight milk’, has resigned and committed suicide which, we have been assured, has nothing to do with the Skjoldurian allegations and AC. Roma will go on to play New Jericho at home later this week.

Rosskile Dressing Room:

The team were quiet as Ivar strolled in. At half time he had made the defenders and goalkeeper stand up in front of the rest of the team and appologies for letting the two goals in. He had had then pointed at the young untested striker Jermaine Beckford and told him to replace Chris Wood. There had been a murmer as the young Skjoldurian had come out. Most of the away frans had not been happy with the decision. That had all changed after Beckford did a terrific half volley from just out side the box to score Rosskiles fisrt goal, that silence had tunred to delight when he set up the next two goals, one a lovely through ball for Bechio and and accidental deflection of the bum to set up the captain Liam Cooper off a corner. He had then scored a rebound from the goalie off of a free kick to win the game. There was no doubt he would be starting in the next game

Good morning I’m Stephanie Waldorf and welcome back to Gossip Weekly!

Unbeknownst to anyone in the Heartfilia homeland and its marvelous colonies, the highly unpopular and heavily criticized game of ‘football’ is still a thing. After last season's horrendous loss, many thought the game would cease to exist, but the truth of the matter is the opposite, in reality, the radiant and glorious Queen Marie has gathered funding for the continuation of the Heartfilian Swans as well as the creation of the Imperial light. Both teams though perfect can't handle the barbaric and Brutism that is shown by the other teams, the other team's lack of grace and Etiquette is absolutely absurd, one comes to think on how such savages can even get into such an event.

Another fact why the game ’football’ is received poorly is with the stadiums hosting the event itself. Both stadiums, The Imperial Stadium and L'Émeraude Stadium both are showing their age and have become a great eyesore to the Heartfilian populace, with low funding both stadiums are unfit to support a beautification effort.

To add to the fire is the emergence of the Slavic Flu, with its origins being traced back to The Federation of Greater Slavacia, many health officials deem that the CCL (Charter Champions League) is a breeding ground for misfortune. As of now efforts to stop the disease are mainly focused on the closure of the southeastern border with The Kingdom of Skjoldur as well as stopping flight to and from The Federation of Greater Slavacia.

In other news! The marvelous victory of the High school Horse Racing Championship, and the inside scoop into the daily life of Geoffrey and Eleanor Plantagenet!

The last four matchdays proved to be thrilling and dramatic. Olwar City, having done so well for the bulk of the season, faltered at the final hurdle, winning just 1 game and a total of 4 points from 4 games. This enabled New Jericho to go on a stunning run of form, winning all four remaining games. By doing so, they went top at the end of Matchday 20. Olwar's tight victory on the penultimate day, gave them hope, but New Jericho's victory against the Heartfilian Swans, ensured that the trophy would be heading to The Natufian Nation Asgar City's victory at the Asgarthian derby cemented their place in the Top 3, as Iuventus' poor form saw them pick up just one last win. Perhaps most stunning of all, was the rise of a Skjoldurian team. Rosskille City, who had languished in the bottom 5 for much of the season, picked up 7 points in their last 4 games, enabling them to finish 5th. AS Roma claimed 4 points, maintaining a mid-table finish. 7th to 9th were separated by just three goals, with AFC Imia's form allowing them to pip Sirthrynk KF and Skagafjoror United FC, who had struggled in their last three games; picking up just two points. An impressive two wins for The Imperial Light was not enough to improve their luck in the league; they finished 10th. Indeed, luck was not on the side of the Heartfilians, as the Swans finished last for a second consecutive league.

Thus, I congratulate New Jericho on their victory. They have become the Second, and final, Charter Football Champion.

In that universe, at least…
