The Imperial Grand Prix Association is the sanctioning body of the motor racing in the Sovereign Empire. The IGPA's most prominent role is the licensing and sanctioning of the Gristo-Serkonan National Championship. Established in 1945, the National Championship provides the set of rules in which participants' cars must conform. The National Championship is the highest level of single-seater auto racing in the Sovereign Empire. The National Championship crowns two Champions; one for the drivers, and one for the constructors, which determined by a points system based on their results at the end of the round.
The cars of the National Championship are the fastest regulated road cars in the country, with high cornering speeds achieved through aerodynamic downforce with limited ground effect. These cars are powered by 2.4-litre V8 turbo engines with multiple energy recovery systems as defined by the technical regulations. These power units are limited in performance to a maximum of 19,000 rpm, with a high dependence on electronics. The high cornering speeds subjects drivers to high lateral g-forces in cornering, pulling the driver's head with a force equivalent to 20 kilograms. The high lateral forces requires drivers to be at their peak physical and mental health to maintain their focus on the one to two hours it takes to complete a race.
