Many have been quick to blame the 73 year old Nielson for the incident but truth has to be told that Kev Schorebrook has been at times driving more like a 73 year old than the Kev Schorebrook that was the last driver, prior to Yraaga Gilli'i, to win two races in a single NSSCRA Regular Season - a feat the Vannish driver accomplished during NSSCRA Season 6. Perhaps there was enough blame to go around for both drivers in the situation but really the party at fault was of no concern to Gilli'i who felt a chance at becoming the first driver to win three NSSCRA Points-Paying races in the Regular Season during the modern NSSCRA Chase era ended in crunched sheet metal as a result of the accordian effects of the incident.
While Gilli'i was unable to contend for the victory they still couldn't escape long time short track rival Stacie Houston who had her own issues on the day and the two were relegated to a late fight through the field with Gilli'i narrowly edging out Houston for 16th place.
While Gilli'i struggled it was a solid day all around for Vilita and Turori Motorsports with Centur Tiones, the pole winner one race prior at Road Marrietta in Xanneria finishing in 4th place for their fourth consecutive top 10 finish aiding in the #2 Tiones Lumber Dart driver's slow climb up the points ladder to 7th place with 532 points. While no driver knows not to take a spot in the Chase for granted more than Tiones who suffered the agony of a last-lap exclusion at the end of last seasons Pencurve Electronics 500, the team must have been quietly gaining in confidence having now amassed a 120 point advantage over the current 'last driver in with a win' - Happilopper's Chris Holmes of Team Blue who currently sits on 411. It would seem that, barring a collapse of epic proportions, Tiones first ever Playoff Appearance is just over the horizon.
If Tiones is in a comfortable position than certainly NSSCRA Season 6 champion River 'Shark' Suzgar is as well as Suzgar finished the Golden Bear 400 right on Tiones' tail in the fifth position and closed to within just 25 points of the Regular Season points lead which was now held by Sherpalander Kai Qiang. Suzgar and the #14 Vilaye Energy Drink Dart Team bounced back from their worst finish of the season in Xanneria to post a first Top 5 finish since their victory At the Lantis Sirenia 300.
As for Vilita and Turori's development drivers, Lotara Novorali who impressed on her debut at the Toys '4' All 500 keeping her car out of trouble and completing the race in a respectable 21st position will now see her next appearance on the circuit delayed by one event due to an unlikely source - the withdrawel of the team from the Newark Aristocracy. With the shake up in available charters, the sanctioning body decided to free up a second Open Charter position in the upcoming events. With Tropicorp's Euroli Islander already confirmed to make his season debut at the Tropicorp 500, Vilita and Turori Motorsports were pushing to get Novorali included in the lineup at the Sonrise Motorway in Vangaziland. However, with the newly announced modifications to the Charter Allocation, Vilita and Turori Motorsports will take advantage of the reduced transportation costs as well as additional preparation time to instead send Novorali and the #49 team just across the Cove to the Calanian Mainland for the Tropicorp 500.
One driver who will certainly still be looking forward to the race in Vangaziland, however, is Rockii Ezis. While it will be their first race in Vangaziland as a member of Rocket Motorsports, Ezis was a Top 10 finisher in the Blue Coast 400 at the same track one season ago while driving the #60 CoCoCo Dart for Vilita and Turori Motorsports and will be looking to take some of that confidence with them into the Vannish Race Weekend and hope to leave with their first Top 10 finish as a driver for the Newmanistan based team.
