Domestic Field Hockey Discussion Thread

Postby Baranil » Fri Apr 12, 2019 8:49 am

Introducing the **New** Location for Discussion about the Domestic Field Hockey Thread

Out of the hopes that I can make the Domestic Field Hockey Thread more tidy for future issues of the Field Hockey Champions League, any questions etc. that are not the preview, league table, matchday results, my posts showcasing the results of the Field Hockey Champions League or updates from myself about the Domestic Field Hockey Thread must be posted here as questions and other posts that are no longer permitted in the main thread will not be responded to by myself and may cause your teams to suffer a penalty for future Field Hockey Champions League editions if this rule is broken on multiple occasions.

Nice add, Baranil.

Could you please clarify puppet policy for Field Hockey Champions League?

I have currently three hockey-playing nations, but added only two to the league, to avoid breaking any rule.

There is no restriction on the number of nations that you can have in the Field Hockey Champions League as of now, so feel free to add your third nation if you want to.

No big deal, but the Lisander trigram is "LIS".

Sorry for the bump.

So, Baranil, do you plan to establish ranking tables for the next edition?

Yeah, I could do that (first edition notwithstanding though).

I'm updating the rules to say that you can submit your teams through whatever tournaments that you want. You could simultaneously run a national league and a couple of regional leagues and send the best few teams from both competitions to their Field Hockey Champions League if you wanted to.

Bonus points will be awarded to a league for uniqueness, as if you put in the effort into your league, it is only fair for that to reflect in your team's results. Plus, it makes it more interesting to go through rather than having several leagues that are just copy and pastes of each other with the sole difference being the team names.

Another factor into your team's performance will be how long you have participated in the Field Hockey Champions League. The more time that you've invested into your league will reflect in your team's results.

The one thing that I will put in place is your Field Hockey Champions League entries have to make at least some sense. The team who finished 12th should not be entered ahead of the team who finished 3rd unless the league has a reason as to why it is entering the team who finished 12th. Are the teams above it banned from the Field Hockey Champions League? Does it have the best fair play record? etc. But apart from that, what you do with your league is up to your creativity.

Also, all entries to the Second Field Hockey Champions League have gained an extra place in the Field Hockey Champions League now, so make sure that you remember to award your league with that additional spot should you chose to continue on in the Field Hockey Champions League.

Some stuff I've in mind while reading your words:

This is nice. I'd only advice to not accepting a nation sending teams from two competitions since it would be clearly unfair.

A bonus for uniqueness is something I always thought. I think I can evolve my Field Hockey league to have some more words and images.

I believe that with only five players (Lisander/Rhaecia, Ko-oren, Darmen, Hinode, Baranil/Seraixinbourgh), we shouldn't worry about it for long.

This is something I feel somewhat worried about. Metropolitan League has 12 teams. If keeping this rhythm, In Champions League 10, all teams in Metropolitan League will have spots. The obvious solution for it would be the use of league coefficients. Better ranked leagues would be assigned more spots.

Both of the things that you're worried about are non-existant. I may have not worded the update optimally but I was trying to say that you can divide your number of entrants however you like. Take a look at English football for example, they divide their 7 entrants into 5 for the Premier League, 1 for the EFL Cup and 1 for the FA Cup. This would be legal under the new format though you will not receive additional places for having more competitions.

The other thing that your worried about is countered by the maximum of seven entrants per nation, no matter how long that you've been competing in the Field Hockey Champions League. So the Metropolitan League for Champions League 10 would only be able to submit seven teams under the current format, though should the Field Hockey Champions League grow I will likely look into a system like what Commerce Heights uses for the Champions Cup qualification, where the best nations get more slots based on their co-efficients rather than how many consecutive seasons they've participated in, though that information is not necessary as of now.

Yeah, they will.
Lisander was wondering what the scorelines of the matches were.

2 Linville Leonessa 2 1 0 1 5 8 0.625 3 - Failed to Qualify
3 Sterrenwolde 2 0 0 2 3 7 0.429 0 - Failed to Qualify

Considering that Vodvok Vile has 0 goals allowed, the 5 goals scored by Linville Leonessa and the 3 goals scored by Sterrenwolde had to be scored in the match between the two. That leaves Linville Leonessa with 5 goals allowed and Sterrenwolde with 2 goals allowed. 5+2=7, 7 being the same number of goals scored by Vodvok Vile, giving us the results of those matches as well. As for who was at home and who was away, Baranil would have to clarify.

Linville Leonessa 5-3 Sterrenwolde
Vodvok Vile 5-0 Linville Leonessa
Vodvok Vile 2-0 Sterrenwolde

Ah, that makes sense. And you were spot on with the results, I'm impressed.
