Geektopian governor reports on first game, "It was a very humble opening for us, to be completely honest" - Geek Coverage

Going into the Olympic Park game, the Geeks were jeering to score and win. The team was motivated and nervous simultaneously. They had never been to a stadium so packed, so naturally they were reluctant. The GSR league played with heart, and almost came back and stole the show. The most significant moments for Geektopia was when Grīd side-kicked, and ran all the way over, followed up with a near shot, but missed. A good save made by the keeper, Bayan indeed.

Eraman's national team had a very close score as well, but a defensive player who Rozensweig must not name, slid and put in a penalty for Eraman, making it even closer. Eraman later scored on penalty kick because of that notion.

The team got a penalty kick because of a handball though, and the score was tied up at best. "The Geeks are back in it!"

As far as the fans go, they went crazy to even get one goal, they were humble when they lost, as tame as the Geektopian crowd is, though, one rotten heckler threw their three whiskey bottles they had purchased and threw them all on the ground where GSR were leaving and made a big stink about it on social media.

Gary Rozensweig will be preparating the team in their own empty stadium at Googoadol tomorrow.

The last goal was in the final minutes of the game, conveniently.
Offensive player Serangga hit the top of the post, which then the ball bounced over the line. The goal was determined with Goal Line Technology of the finest in the city. Eraman had won when the Geektopians defense line was crooked.

[Excerpt from Iustitia Times]
Fans in Shock after Devastating loss in Baptism of Fire

"What the H*ll did we do?!" Reportedly inquired, Maximusian head coach, Vincent Alfonsi after the Maximuian National Team Posted all of 0 goals on games one, essentially being blown out of the water by Tiger Sharkistan.

This was, to say the least, not what the Maximusian National Team had been wanting or expecting. The team barely was able to keep control of the ball and was on the defensive the entire game. Although, Damien Kirkland, one of Sharkistan's forward was red carded while attempting to slide tackle McIntosh in a blatantly illegal fashion.

"Man!" exclaimed Brookshire after walking off the pitch in the 63rd minute with a tweaked heel, "We gotta get our act together! I still have faith in the team, but we have a goal against us and no real chance of making it back. That d*mn offense! They will never give us a chance."

Indeed, Brookshire was correct in assuming that LOM would not be able to make up the deficit, but they did not concede another goal. It is unknown weather Brookshire will be playing in game to but we can assume he will as his injury seems to be extremely mild. It was likely more the case that Alfonsi preferred to keep his star striker out of harm's way after a loss was inevitable. We can only hope that he makes an expedient recovery.

The fate of the tournament on the whole now suddenly seems shaky. A loss is a loss, no matter how much you sugar coat it. If the team isn't able to get themselves together, the candle that is the National Team may gutter out before even being fully lit.

In the long run, however, we are all entitled to off nights. The pressure and nerves would be enough to kill most people, let alone play for 90 minutes. Lets hope that the TEAM can get it together and bring home the gold next match! As always, GO LOM!

TIGERIANS CHEER NATIONWIDE AS NATIONAL TEAM GAINS FIRST VICT

Postby TigerSharkistan » Thu Feb 07, 2019 9:17 pm

The national BoF team for TigerSharkistan gains their first ever victory and the entire nation is going nuts for the team. Many Tigerians have thrown huge citywide parties all over the major cities of the country. Everybody is hyped about this moment of significance team the BoF national team has given them with their victory against opposing national team, Libertas Omnium Maximus 1-0.

"I just feel so happy that the team that represents our wonderful nation has gained their victory and that the Tigerians are stronger than ever! It really brings a lot of national pride to the country." says Samuel Harris, the head coach of the Tigerian national team, crying tears of joy.

"We need to show the world that the Tiger Shark is as fierce as ever and we will not back down and quit! We are strong! We are Bold! But most importantly, we are a good sport!" said Martin Skipper, team captain of the Tigerian National Team.

However, some still feel like the Tigerians didn't deserve to win as one of the Tigerian forewards, Damien Kirkland, was red carded after an illegal and violent slide tackle, which he was red carded as a result.

"I love my nations teams as much as the next guy, but we all have to play civil and not hurt the opposing team like animals.", said Phil Morris, a fan of the Tigerian national team.

The Tigerian National Team is expected the meet up with the leader, The Supreme Monarch D L Himself, in the national capital, Kingsvale.

Just a Fan: Paul Silver writes about sports (and occasionally other things)

The Baptism of Fire Chronicles, Episode 1: "You Have to Get There First!"

In case y'all haven't been following my recent life, I've gotten permission from the relevant people in my life to travel to Ethane (and thank god we got drawn to one of the Ethane groups, as Eastfield Lodge would've been a bit tougher) to cover the Baptism of Fire group stage! These columns will cover the games, but also just the experience of Bohr's first venture on an international stage. I'll try to be able to stay if we make it out of groups, but no promises.

Back in the 320s, when I thought I was good at soccer, I played for my high school team in the regional championships. We were pretty clearly outmatched in the first round, and they knew it-their star forward endlessly trash-talked us whenever he got the chance. My response? "You have to get there first"-for a first round match. We unceremoniously lost 4-0, and I got clowned for the rest of the year about it, but there's something there. Even when you're guaranteed to be in the match you still have to "get there", both literally and figuratively. My journey was the same way. The flight, direct from Bohr City to New Sarum, didn't have any problems; I got in at about 7 PM a day before the first match against Skarten, and spent a couple hours wandering the streets, just trying to take in the energy (and definitely not trying to find my hotel). It's definitely a different atmosphere from what I'm used to. When it was announced that we were playing in the BoF and the World Cup qualifiers, nearly everyone knew about it; you could turn to a random person on the street and say "You hear about the soccer team?", and there would be a solid 70% chance that you would get into a conversation about whether Ezra Serrins is underrated or if he's so underrated he's become a little bit overrated (my take: overrated). I'm sure Ethane is similar when things kick into gear, but without a horse in the BoF race and their own World Cup qualification run a couple months out, it's much mellower. I grabbed a bite to eat, finally found and checked into my hotel, and got to sleep.

I woke up to a dilemma; the game, the second of two matches on the day, was at 7:30 PM. I had 12 hours to kill, and a lack of planning outside of "WATCH SOCCER". So what was I going to do? As it turns out, not much. I did some research on the Skarten roster, attempted-and failed-to pronounce their names, and caught up on some work that I was neglecting by being here. Skarten is pretty dangerous; despite never competing internationally, I saw a few people decked out in their gear the night before, and we would seemingly be fairly outnumbered when it comes to the cheering sections. I also caught a couple of the other BoF games happening; In the 55 minutes I saw of TigerSharkistan, they looked pretty damn good, the kind of gritty, defensively-minded team that can thrive in international soccer. I packed up and caught a bus to the stadium just as the Sajnur-Ekamijan game was ending. King Edward IV stadium, although it was half-full, was much more spread out than the big Bohr stadiums, which I'm honestly not sure how to feel about. It's obviously better for overall quality of life, but there's a kind of magic about 80,000 people being crowded into a dome that should probably never hold more than 50,000 (as was the case in the BSC finals). It's cameraderie at its finest, even with the worst smells possible and a 30-minute bathroom line. KEIV was a great experience, and there wasn't much to complain about, but it wasn't quite memorable.

The game itself was great. Maybe it wasn't great as a soccer game, but as an unrepetant homer, I couldn't be happier. Everyone seemed to be in sync; Williams struck one in the 11th minute after an assist from Serrins that seemed pulled from one of BBS FC's games, putting his name in the history books as the first international scorer in Bohr history, Krone added one at 28 minutes, and with 10 minutes left and Skarten fans pouring out of the stadium, Chris Can put an exclamation point on it, with a beautiful shot from outside the box that made you wonder why he couldn't find a spot on the starting squad. I know Keon is good, but could Cesare seriously not have done a 4-3-2-1? Serrins is basically an AM right now anyway. Regardless of my tactical questions, this team looked truly impressive. Maybe it's just one game, maybe it's just Skarten, but I have substantially more faith than I did before I saw this game.

The Gordian nation team destroyed Dritten Aspoie in a beautiful one sided match. 18 year old wonderkid Liam Fletcher scored a brace and 27 year old Nick Lang scored as Grod Island beat Dritten Aspoie 3-1.

CHAPTER 2 - BADANG GANGSA

Eraman national team players step into Olympic Park with a goal which is to continue their winning momentum and get their first 3 points. To do so, they need to put any off-the-pitch feud behind and play as a team. Their opponents in the first match at Eastfield Lodge is Geektopia, a country in New Western Atlantic.

Badang Gangsa led the players into the pitch followed by Prince Daulapura Suara Petara behind him. Seeing the two of them sang the national anthem side by side at least relieve the national team football fans.

This is the first time they played in front of 60,000 people. The biggest stadium in Eraman is only half the size of the Olympic Park. The experience of playing in domestic league for two seasons clearly have a positive impact to the players as they control of the game calmly.

The first goal was scored by Biduk Serangga from a penalty kick after he was brought down in the penalty box by a Geektopian defender. However, Geektopia equalized just before half-time whistle sounded. Geektopia goal also came from the penalty spot after a handball Putra Daulapura Suara Petara.

Badang Gangsa rushed to the dressing room right after the half time whistle. His face visibly displeased. He was the first to be in the locker room, walking back and forth waiting for the others.

"DUSSSSHHHHH" Badang Gangsa right hand landed on Putra Daulapura Suara Petara's nose as the prince entered the locker room. "That was a silly mistake and you can cost us the game," said the team captain. The prince was unfazed and walked to his seat quietly.

Badang Gangsa was born and raised in Damaisari, a remote small town on the foot of Krama Mountains. Football is very important to Badang Gangsa. He never had a formal education. Born in a family of farmers, he worked in the rice fields since young age. Like many other residents of Damaisari, football is seen as an opportunity to shovel out of poverty.

"I know some of us do not get along but in there, we need to play as a team," said Badang Gangsa trying to raise the spirit of his teammates. The coach does not need to do his team talks. Badang Gangsa is on fire.

The second half started more positively. Neat short passes around the pitch. Attacks from Geektopia easily thwarted by the two defensive midfielder, Putra Daulapura Suara Petara and Rimau Belang. Eraman totally dominated the second half forcing Geektopia to put 10 man behind the ball.

Second after seconds. Minute after minutes. The second goal remain elusive. Geektopia disciplined defense breaks any attempt from Eraman to get into the box. The players became increasingly anxious to get the winning goal after the fourth official indicates 2 minutes of added time. The players finally lost patience and began to play route one football with almost every players inside Geektopia penalty box.

Last attack. Badang Gangsa lifts the ball from his own half straight to Geektopia penalty box. Headed down by Putra Daulapura Suara Petara. Fallen nicely to Biduk Serangga. Biduk Serangga shoot. Hits the inside of the crossbar. And GOAALLLLLLL !!!! The ball bounced inches over the line. The referee blew the final whistle. Eraman won.

KICK-OFF

Both teams finally exit onto the pitch to begin what should be an intresting fixture in an intresting tournament! Following the national anthems and coin-toss, Alanikka was awarded the first kick-off. With the match officials happy with everything, the referee blows his whistle and brings Walenstein's first competitive international match to an open!

A late challenge from Walenstein's #4 Heinrich Helmfried in the form of a slide tackle brings down Alenikka's #11 Cudlies Dangier and obtains possesion for Walenstein. The referee blows the match to a halt, and despite Walenstein's ferverous protestations, books the offender with a yellow card. A free-kick, 43 yards from the net is awarded to Alanikka. Walensteiner players form a human wall in preperation for the free kick. Once the kick is taken, it bounces off #9 Hans Gerhardt and back into play.

Walenstein opens the scoring 1-0 with a wonderful strike by #6 Matthias Merten! Fed by a wondeful through-pass from #37 Oliver Severin, the linesman's flag stays down with Merten just barely beating the offside call. A textbook spin past Alanikka's defenders leaves him 1 on 1 with Alanikka's goaltender. Severin takes the strike with his weaker left foot, and buries the ball in the top right self of the net.

Walensteiner celebrations were cut short, however, as a near instant reponse from the Alanikkan side equalizes the match. Poor defending by #22 Gotthardt Siegbert leads to a turnover in a dangerous area, with Alanikkan midfielder Joseph Trump handily defeating keeper Manuel Oswald from range.

Added Time

The fourth official has indicated that there will be a minimum of 3 minutes of added time.

THE CAPTAIN SCORES A STUNNER! With seconds left before half-time, #7 Linus Wendel takes a short pass during a corner kick and crosses it into the box. #37 Oliver Severin wins the header, and heads it cleanly in to take a 2-1 lead for the Walensteiner side.

Half Time

With both sides heading back into their dressing rooms for the break, the match is still looking like it could go either way. Walensteiner coach Amadeus Klausmann decides to go full on defensive in the second half in an attempt to preserve the side's lead, and indicates he will make a few key substitutions to bolster the team's defence.

Second Half

Walensteiner striker #11 Nikolaus Ludwig preforms the kick-off to begin the second half. Whilst losing possesion a few times, Walensteiner defence seems to be sharper in the second half, making it difficult for Alanikkan offense to move forward.

Goal Alanikka!

Despite Walenstein's best efforts, Alanikkan striker Chip Monk equalizes the match 2-2. Controlling possesion in their offensive zone, a momentary lapse of concentration from the Walensteiner side allows the Alanikkan striker to go un-checked and recieve a clean pass, which he fires with all his might from a distance. #1 Manuel Oswald had no chance of stopping the shot, and the game now sits level once more.

Walenstein draws 2-2 with Alanikka, Zuiopien next

PARLIAMENT STADIUM, EASTFIELD LODGE --

Thursday's Group 9 matchday ended with a 2-2 draw for the Walensteiner side against opponents Alanikka, giving both sides 1 point in the group tables. The Zuiopien side defeated opponents Najaf 2-1, therefore placing Walenstein third in their group, exactly tied with Alanikka but one spot down the table on away goal difference.

Despite amazing goals from the team captain, Severin, and striker Merten, it was not enough to lift Walenstein over it's somewhat sloppy defence, which was brutally exploited by the Alanikkans.

During his post-match press conference, aired live on WRF Sport After Hours, head coach Amadeus Klausmann defended his use of the 4-4-2 diamond formation and insisted the poor defence was down to the running backs not being used to the amount of required fluidity and movement required for perfect execution of the formation.

Klausmann indicated that tomorrow's match will be started with Simon Eckhart, Bjorn Gereon and Franz Leopold as running backs, who are more used to playing the formation in league football, with more-experienced Viktor Diethelm as CDM in an effort to move the ball further up the pitch once attacks are broken up.

Asked about his thoughts on the match tomorrow against the victorious Zuiopien side, the coach said the following:

"Despite what many likely initially thought about the Zuiopien side, the sides offense has proven itself over Najaf, and will therefore make tomorrow's match intresting to say the least. Hopefully we'll be able to achieve a better result than today with the reorganization of the rear midfield. A victory is definitly not impossible against the side, and the three points from a win would benefit us, but at the end of the day, we'll have to see what happens."

Baptism of Fire starts with victory!

Sajnur has defeated Ekamijan 3-0 in its opening match of the 69th Baptism of Fire, to the delight of fans throughout Sajnur, and especially to the travelling support that dominated the turnout in King Edward IV Stadium. The defence didn't have all that much to do as Sajnur hogged 71% of the possession, the main focus on keeping the ball away from the opposition and entertaining the crowd. The crowd was indeed entertained, with raucous cheers and chants throughout the 90 minutes. Jessica Siafik was made captain for this match amid discussion that she could be made permanent captain of the national team, and if she does remain captain, this will be a good start to her reign.

The first half proved to be a subdued period of play, with the Ekamijan defence proving effective at repelling Sajnuran attacks, packing plenty of men behind the ball and leaving the half time score at 0-0. The second half, however, proved to be a boon for Sajnur, with a now tired Ekamijan defence unable to keep the sheet clean for long, and Andre Naulo scored a hattrick of spectular goals. The first saw him scythe through the Ekamijan team like a hot knife through very soft butter, receiving the ball behind the half way line and humiliating seven players on his journey to the goal line, with two nutmegs making his run quite spicy. The second goal was a typical poacher's goal, with Dario Tule doing most of the work with his speed, wrongfooting the opposing left back and whipping a cross for Naulo's head to guide past the keeper. It was the third goal, though, that was the best of them all. Siafik popped her trademark chocolate cigar in her mouth and proceeded to perform a rainbow flick before volleying the ball into the penalty box, and Naulo, having run clear of the Ekamijan defenders, swatted the ball out of the air into the back of the net, all to deafening cheers.

After the match, we interviewed some fans, and here is what one fan had to say:

"The experience of being at a major tournament cheering your country to success is amazing. The atmosphere was great from the moment I walked in. There must have been at least 50,000 people there, because it was almost completely full of cheering fans. It was deafening! The stadium isn't as cosy as some of the stadiums in Sajnur, though. Seeing Ekamijan block our attacks in the first half made me really nervous, and at half time I was thinking 'what if we don't score?' because it was 0-0. We could have lost! But the second half was pure happiness. Oh, Naulo is amazing! Always in the right place to score, he is. And Siafik has that ball on a string, I swear! It's witchcraft! Is she even pagan? Anyway, I loved it!"

The next match will be against a Bohr team who will likely pose a bigger threat than Ekamijan, given that they actually have a roster. Sajnur are off to a good start to their campaign, and hopefuly another victory will follow this one.

0-1-0

New Sarum, Ethane A bright new day arose in the annuals of Xannerian football. The first game in the third major tournament Xanneria has ever entered in International competition. The Baptism of Fire is by far the largest tournament the Maroons have played. Their opponent was an unknown quantity known as "Pineapple Porcupines" The game ended in a 2-2 draw after 95 minutes of intense back and forth football. For a country seen as aggressive and lacking finesse, the Maroons put on quite the dribbling clinic. Probably the highlight of the game was not a goal but rather, Mark Hailey juking a hapless Porcupine player.

The game itself was a 2-2 affair with both teams getting most scoring out of the way early and late. A penalty kick by Devon'elle Leymore in the tenth minute gave the Maroons a 1-0 lead. Leymore a midfield playing in neighboring Starcom, kicked one over the head of the goalie who had made the call to defend left. Leymore celebrated the goal by jumping into the arms of teammate Chuckie Van Horn . But soon afterwards the porcupine forward made a blitzingly fast move through the defense and scored on a goal in the left corner of the net. for a while it looked like even with the Maroons best efforts it would be a 1-1 tie, but late in the game a penelty on one of the porcupine players got the ball past the goalie and allowed the game to become 2-1. With the score in doubt and only a handful of minutes left an all out attack on the porcupine team allowed Glenn Hailey to strut his stuff and score on a beautiful goal, allowing his team to at least preserve the tie. Its a gooal thing Hailey scored too, as the other game in our group, also ended in a tie, meaning that all four teams in the group set at 1 point. Next up is Monsaw

The Nottinhapsian Times: Nottinhaps FC ties against Kevagaria
Phillip MacDavid explains the situation

Bridgetown, Eastfield Lodge
Nottinhaps FC played their first match outside of TLA and its allies against Kevagaria, in their opening match in the 69th Baptism of Fire. This is their most important match so far, with 50,000 spectators watching.

Nottinhaps, wary of its competitor, played cautiously in the first half and were very defensive. As fans cheered on for Nottinhaps, and as Nottinhaps were able to prove themselves superior compared to the Kevagaria, however, the team regained confidence. In the second half, the Nottinhapsian football team began playing more aggressively. The relatively defensive Antoille Heeger #8 was replaced by Alex Baldwin #34 at 51'.

However, disaster struck when star striker and team captain Ian King #10 was injured at 74'. The referee declared foul, and awarded Nottinhaps a free kick. Sadly, Ian King was substituted by the less experienced Jesper Douffet, and the Kevagaria began playing in a defensive formation. In the end, Nottinhaps was unable to score.

Currently, Nottinhaps is tied second in Group 7 with Kevagaria. Leading Group 7 is Porabasta, who secured a 2-0 victory against 4th place Libonesia.

Manager Tehran Alfenso said: "I don't regret making the 4-4-2 lineup... if it is absolutely necessary, the team could change to a 4-2-3-1 or even a 4-3-3 lineup before the World Cup." Ian King stated he would not be able to play in the next match of the Baptism of Fire, but he will return for the third and final match. Jesper Douffet is expected to play as Right Striker during the second match.

We also asked fans on their thoughts on the match. One replied about the lack of Kevagarian supporters: "When I came in, I realised most of the others were Nottinhapsian ethnicity. I could see people waving the Nottinhapsian flag. Me and my mates were holding a banner that said: "Red Warriors, unite!" (Note: The Red Warriors are a nickname of the Nottinhapsian FC.) And, there was this "Go Red Warriors" chant that lasted for most of the match. Weird how nobody from Kevagaria seemed to be here. I couldn't see banners or anything that showed support for them. Maybe nobody from there cared."

Another commented on the domination of Nottinhaps FC, and seemed disheartened about the results. "The first half, Nottinhaps seemed to have to ball most of the time. Sadly they seemed too nervous to move it forward, or maybe they were testing the opposition. The second half, that's when things went interesting when the Red Warriors started pushing forward. The ball was always on the opponent's side. I thought there bound to be a goal when things went downhill and King got hurt. Ian King, he's my favourite player, and it's saddening to see him be injured. When the match ended, there was almost this collective sigh, as if everyone in the stadium were incredibly disappointed at the results."

Nottinhaps FC will face Libonesia next. Nottinhaps is expected to win the match, since they have lost against Porabasta.

Time to Shine: Part 2

The teams stood in the alley before the match. As the captain, Senzo stood first and saw the whole stadium from here. He was overwhelmed with joy and happiness, but he was also stressed in case something goes wrong. "What if we fail?" he thought to himself. He was already sweating even though the match hadn't even started yet. Suddenly, the referees started walking onto the pitch. "Let's go team!" Senzo shouted, and the Quadanese men cheered. The lights blinded him, but he felt as though he had reborn. A wave of energy filled his body as he stepped on the turf. He got high of the air in the stadium. It was euphoric.

Oyakawa went to the middle of the pitch to toss the coin. "Heads or tails?" the referee asked Senzo. "Tails." he answered. Senzo always picked tails. He was the captain of the team in the U12 Regional Finals back in his time, and he picked heads for the coin toss. It was heads, and they went on to lose the final. Since then Oyakawa picks tails, because he doesn't want to make the same mistake he once made. "Tails. North Quadana will kick off." the referee said. The teams lined up and the referee blew his whistle. It was game on.

Senzo ran down the flank. The stadium was so loud, he couldn't even hear his thoughts. He looked to his left and saw Joon. He had the ball and he was running ferociously. He evaded tackles and sprinted past defenders at a godly speed. Senzo cut inside in the box. Joon now was only 20 meters outside. Senzo saw that Sawao was running behind his back, and he shouted to Joon "PASS!" Joon passed the Senzo who was now cut off by a Vartugian defender. He looked to his left yet again and there he saw his opportunity. Sawao had cut in earlier and was just on the edge of the box. Senzo passed to Sawao and the ball stopped at his feet.

Sawao saw the ball at his feet. Time seemed to stop and the stadium became empty as the only things in the world were him and the ball. He kicked it without even looking. He looked away and the only thing he heard was the net of the goal swishing. "Wait..." he thought to himself and looked up. The ball was lying on the ground... past the Vartugian goalkeeper? Then he realised. "GOAAAAAAAAAAAL!" he shouted as he ran to the corner flag, filled with euphoria and joy. The whole Quadanese bench got up on their feet and ran towards Sawao. It was a time which called for celebration.

14 minutes later

Kitano picked up the ball and kicked it away. It soared high through the air, until it landed 53 meters away on the top of Hachiro's head. He headed it on to Senzo who was now 1 on 1 with a Vartugian player. Senzo looked at the ball, and then at the Vartugian. He knew just what to do. He kicked the ball past the Vartugian on the right side and ran around the left. He could hear the Quadanese sections in the crowd cheer on the illustrious striker. As he neared the goal he saw an angry Vartugian next to him. He had to get closer to the goal and he had a trick up his sleeve. He did a heel kick to the left as the Vartugian fell to the ground, confused. Senzo now had a clear look on goal. He took a depp breath and slotted it away. A moment of silence fell through the crowd, and suddenly the Quadanese fans erupted in jubilant cheers. 2-0 for Quadana.

Match #1-LOM vs Tiger Sharkistan
00:59

Alden Herrick watched in disbelief from the seats as Vanderbilt's head slammed into the goal post. The ball, meanwhile, glanced off his wrist and was deflected upwards into the net.

Up until this point, Herrick assumed that he was the luckiest man alive. He worked for the Portland County Electrical Company, a tough job with nasty hours. Yet, every time he really thought about his situation, it seemed to get exponentially better. For example, right when he thought he was about to get laid off, he got a raze for his devotion to the company. Just when he thought he was about to have to file bankruptcy, he inherited $75,000 from his uncle. Just when he thought he would never get the chance to see the Maximusian National Team Play, he miraculously one a ticket to see the opening match at his local pub in a raffle.

Now, he worried that his lucky streak was wearing off. The TEAM, as he referred to them, was down a point with no chance of making it back up. With the rest of the Maximuian Fans, Alden booed intently. In the sweet next to him sat an obese, shirtless man, who had painted his monster stomach to look like the Maximuian. The man was now screaming the National Anthem in protest of the terrible goal. The woman to Alden's left, too, was yelling and complaining. Herrick failed to see the point. What was done was done. Besides, he thought, there is always a chance that we can turn it around.

0:63

Now the game looked truly blown. Brookshire was limping off the field. It looked to Alden as if he had simply twisted his ankle. "Probably will be good for next round" he speculated to no one in particular. "Yeah," replied the young woman to his left "I would bet that Alfonsi or that head physician pulled him before it got any worse, the game is blown. He is saving up for next round." Alden nodded in agreement dourly.

0:74

The Maximusian fans were suddenly on their feet. After 70 some minutes of being beaten into the ground, The team was finally on a breakaway. Yin Lan was on a roll, flying towards the goal, growing ever nearer. He kicked. The stadium held its breath. The ball curved in a slow arc towards the goal. This was the make-or-break moment for the match. The aspirations and hopes of every fan was suddenly crushed as the ball deflected off the crossbar and went out of bounds.

The corner was botched, a header directly into the Sharkistanian goalkeeper's gloves. He punted the ball back into the center of the pitch, fully annihilating any chance the National Team had of closing the gap. The fans were devastated. The coaches were devastated. The players were devastated. The game was lost.

0:89

After the 86th minute, most members of the LOM fanbase were no longer even praying for a miracle. Hope was lost. Alden was one such fan. His phone had buzzed in his pocket 10 minutes prior and Alden figured he could check it incase it was his boss, or his wife. A smile crossed his face after he read it.

BoF Village, Ethane
T-minus 5 hours to Match #2

"Listen up boys. We need to talk."

Maximusian National Team, Vincent Alfonsi's voice came like a thunderclap to the nearly silent gym. Posvak and Lan, who had silently been passing a ball back and forth up until their coach arrived, booth quickly snapped to attention, allowing the ball to roll off into the far corner of the gym. Brookshire, who was quietly living weights, set his down gently and stood to his full hight. Over the next 30 seconds, the entire starting 11 was assembled before there coach and friend.

"Match #1 was rough. I can't sugarcoat it or attempt to make light of it. We had our asses handed to us by those Tiger Sharkistanians. Poor Johan nearly got a concussion and we almost lost Luke for the tournament. I can't have that happen again, WE can't let that happen again. We are up against a slightly weaker team, Ashaie. I believe we can capitalize on it!I have looked over their game footage and the tech team and I have decided to go with a slightly more offensive strategy. WE can do it. I have faith. You all at a rough night, you are entitled to such a night. We just can't let that happen again. Does everyone understand?"

Every member of the team nodded in agreement. They were ready. It was time for the National Team of Libertas Omnium Maximus to show the world what they were truly capable of!

Skarten Did An Oopsie

The initial happiness and hope of the Skartenian people with the World Cup was cut very short after the team unceremoniously was defeated in 3-0 against Bohr. There were many reasons as to why this could be attributed, depending on who you asked. An more moderate person would say it was due to the failure of the Skartenian team to achieve their tactics, defending their goal while attacking at the same time effectively. However, if you were to ask an more "acidic" fan of the Skartenian Team, that person would probably claim the game was rigged, considering events such as "That one time it should've been a goddamn penalty", followed by a "few" slurs both about the referee, his mother, his cat, his home country and Bohr.

Afterwards the end of the game, the team's Head Coach, Longin Karstovski, was interviewed by several sources. When asked about why did they lose the game, he awnsered: "Well, it was kind of a mix. We let ourselves to be too open, and we'll need to work on that, and our attack wasn't strong enough to get a goal. I also believe that, while in game, we didn't do our best." Noise continued heavily after these words, with more questions being asked. At some point, an unknown journalist inquired Longin over his predictions for the next match and the future of Skarten in the Baptism Of Fire Cup.
"Well, You See, i can't exactly tell what will happen in the future. I will tell for sure that our team will do what it can to accomplish victory, and that by the next match, we'll have hopefully fixed most of the issues we faced through this match. Sadly, that's all i have to say about our future for now."

Another question then popped up that soon grabbed the attention of the group. Marcel Yvarski, An well-known journalist from an famous Skartenian Journal, the Wisła began to talk. "Can you tell us anything about the next match with Sajnur?"
"I can't exactly disclose too much about it, but we're hopeful that we will be able to keep up a good game and defeat them justly. But for now, i've said more than enough, so i'll have to get going." This was where the interview ended.

Earlier That Day, On The Skartenian Field

It was a hot day in Ethane, at least for the usually cold-dwelling Skartenians. An team of many men could be either seen around in a field, training in an way or another their skills in football or talking with the coaches and technicians. Among the men training was Zachariasz Zrieszko, the young Striker of the team. His performance hadn't been exactly the best in the last game, but it was still one of the best of the team, or at least so tought his "fans", for this man was without a doubt one of the most popular people who were in the Reprezentacja Skartenski w piłce nożnej, due to one reason or another.

As he practiced his goal kick, he noticed he and the team was called by Longin, the Head Coach, who had just arrived. They all stopped the training, gathering around the partly-bald man. "Okay, Boys. I suppose Ziemowit and Kacper have already passed along the strategy, if my orders were followed correctly. We'll go over them again later, but for now, you all better go rest. I'll be damned if you're tired by the time of the game, because we'll sure lose if you are. You have around six to seven hours until the match begins, so spend the time wisely, and don't tire yourself out. I'm looking at you, Miroslav. But anyhow, i'll meet you boys again in some time to go over the plan again. And remember, rest."

The team then began to scatter over in different directions, each going to find their way to rest. Some would simply sleep, others would do simple, calming hobbies, and others watching TV or using the electronic apparels in the housings they were provided by the organization of the World Cup. There would be an match that day, and they were going to win it. There was no other choice.

We came, we played, we won
by Klavus Titus

- Citizens rejoice! We have just won our first victory in this tournament and oh boy that was a show to behold! We are here today in the studio with our football expert - John Wick. Any first thoughts after the match?
- Hello everyone and congratulations! I'm really happy for the team. Its a great start.
- OK, lets go over a few episodes from the game. Our team started a bit cautious and kept control of the ball without being too aggressive. The first interesting episode happened on 11'.
- Yes, a good combination and a good shot by Luis Popero. A bit high.
- Then this disaster on 26'
- I would not call it that. Jordano Santos made an awkward mistake and Soviet Micronesia got a 3 on 2 opportunity which they executed brilliantly. 0-1
- That must have been a blow to morale.
- I thought so too, but players had another opinion, they were very calm and concentrated. It was unfortunate, but they knew what to do.
- After the goal initiative quickly switched to Bysantians. We had a series of good attacks until finally on 43' Luis Popero put the ball in the net.
- That is exactly the goal we expect from our team. A series of passes and a shot. Well timed, well executed. Keeper had no chance.
- That was the end of first half. What did you think second half would be like?
- I thought we would continue to press forward and score at least 2 more. I was not far from reality.
- Indeed. Second half was very one-sided. Bysantia had 12 shots on goal against 2 from Soviet Micronesia.
- We controlled the ball and kept playing our game and on 56' Basil Plius converted it into a goal. Very fast break on the flank, a good move to confuse defender and a nice shot to the far corner.
- And it took only 2 more minutes to score again. A corner kick and Pablo Guba lends it in the net. At that point in my opinion Micronesians looked broken.
- I think after first half they were eager to do well, but after 2 goals in 2 minutes they just stopped... In fairness, our team also calmed down a bit. Only in extra time on 91' Luis Popero put the fourth goal in the net.
- How do you evaluate the game?
- I think our team was objectively better. We had initiative and skill on our side. The fact that they scored first only made our players more eager.
- Well said. And what about next game? We are playing Holy Marsh, who lost 2-5 to Pratapgadh.
- I've seen exempts from the match. It seems both team were playing aggressive football and Pratapgadh came out on top. If I was the coach i'd be concentrated on our defense while looking for good opportunities to score. Anyway, I think we have good chances in that match too.
- Thank you a lot for coming here today and thank you all who's watching. See you after next match. Hail Imperator!

Ancherion's Trial of Fire Part 1

Dear Faithful Readers,

Today I injured a "man" and I enjoyed thoroughly enjoyed it. I hoped I could have recorded it but I was having too much fun beating the pulp out of 'em.

But I will begin from the start, it was the day that Ancherion visited Vorgan Park for their first ever international match. Before going to Eastfield Lodge, they didn't feel like they would progress far into this Trial that has been set by the World Cup Committee. It would be deemed a success by the Ancherion government if they finished in the top 8 of this trial. The group draw for Ancherion was Tiiwark, Uan aa Boa and Baranil, we have no clue who they are, but they will be deemed as worthy foes. Our first was against Tiiwark, and they were truly not worthy foes, just mere evil-doers.

I had a pleasant stroll to a breakfast cafe in the town before going to the lunch time kick off at Volgar Park. At the stadium I had taken my seat near the halfway line being a few rows above the pitch itself. The view was alright, I can't see much on the opposite side of the pitch but that matters little. You can see the players coming onto the pitch for the first time ever on international soil, you can tell that they were scared but also very composed and contempt with what is about to happen. These players never played a match together as a team before and had only trained so far, whilst there are some teams that made friendlies before coming to these trials.

Kick-off has occurred and Tiiwark had the ball first, for the first twenty minutes, it was very equally balanced, nobody could take a shot at goal, there have been a few opportunities for both teams but nobody broke. By the 30th minute, Mario Habajanic was fouled just outside of the opposition's box, this created a good opportunity as Mario was a skilled free kick taker. He took a few steps back and at the whistle and launched himself forward and kicked the ball over the Tiiwark wall and into the net beyond the goalkeeper's grasp. This was a great start for Ancherion and had provided more focused mindset. Ancherion kept up with the offense and by the 41st minute, Joris Fuller had scored a volley as he escaped the gaze of the defenders and was wide open for a clean volley into the goal, which was recieved from Indin Salivlo. After that, Tiiwark started to tread carefully and didn't risk any further loss in this half.

In the 2nd half, Ancherion took the ball and were carefully pushing forward at a slow pace. Overwhelming the Tiiwark, defence, Mamadou Kaur took a shot at goal from just inside the box but the goalkeeper deflected into for a corner kick. Semun Kewell took the kick and sent it high into the box where Trym Moran took it to the head and sent it into the net. Then this was when it all turned, Tiiwark's player just became different people, they had changed up their tactics and their mentality was one full of determination. It wasn't long but we had conceded a goal after one of their players took a shot into the top corner of the net. It didn't stop their, it was like they had full knowledge of our team and was using it to their advantage. Eventually Morgan Benly had a handball in the box after the ball hit his arm from a corner kick, this led to a penalty and Benly was booked a yellow. In the last minute of play, this is when I lost it. Tiiwark's attack had slipped through the defence in a scenario that looked like it was offside but the linesman kept his flag down and they had tapped the goal into the net in a 2v1 situation.

There was no more time and it was full time, I was infuriated, I saw others getting up and invading the pitch right as the whistle blew and I knew at that point I had to join them, it was clear what must have been for this. As we of about 100 people charged onto the pitch, the players and officials starting taking the tunnel into the changing rooms. I took one of their players to the ground, it was their number 13, he stayed down but I wouldn't let him leave and I am started kicking him the back and then stomped his face into the ground without holding back my strength. As he bled on the ground, I made a run for it back to the seats and escaped through the massive crowd that was leaving and wasn't caught otherwise you would not be reading this. Right now I am in hiding, writing this for you and staying safe. I have high hopes I won't be caught by the law enforcers here.

Good bye and thank you for reading, until the next time.

(OOC: Sorry East for having to read the first bit  )

One would imagine a successful man such as Mr. Allerson wouldn't be found dead in the sleazy part of Je'Kara that he finds himself now, but let me say that Allersons' idea towards a national team for Alluersia is more than what it seems at the surface. He has other more notorious connections through out the region, one is with a bombastic fellow named Jeorge Wilerson.

The dimly lite sleazy motel room smelled like cheap beer and cigarette smoke, there were visible white stains that were still wet on the bed spread, no doubt some one having a bit too much fun with a hooker who is infested with every STD known, but standing next to this dump and heap of many wasted lives is Mr. Allerson. Trying to become comfortable in such a dump he watches as a younger an with light brown skin and a afro takes a seat at the lonely chair in the room, which shockingly looks new and not used for sexual enjoyment.

"Dave, you look a bit disturbed, hope you don't mind this place."

"Jeroge, I..uh" Stops as a large cockroach climbs up the wall in-front of him, "I was hoping for some where that isn't infested with with STD known to man and where many hookers have been splashed with man juice and god knows what."

Jeroge sitting back in a relaxed poss, "Well I'm sorry, but when you're some one like me whom the national police like to question for potential terror acts against Guianas's you've got to hold up or have discussions in places like these. Now what pleasure do I owe this oppertunity to see you today?"

Dave gently sits down on the edge of the disgusting bed and takes out some papers, "I got the approval for the loan to create the football team, the only way though I could get the money is if I'm not the one with the check-book."

Jeroge takes the papers for the ninty-million dollar loan, "Mmm, ok. Looks great, i'm sure those in the NPSL and WG Soccer don't think so. So who will be handling the money?"

"Sam Dalve, Farnk Davles son. It was the only way, you know how they are at the bank."

Jeroge smiling, "Then he doesn't know what his son is up to either. I'm guessing you don't. Well let me tell you this Sam has been laundering money to my group for the past two years though fo course fake businesses and has been using alias's to get other forms of funding. I do find it hilarious that this whole team's point is a front to launder money to the Freemans Group."

Leaping up and snatching the papers and placing them back in his pocket, "Not so loud for gods sake, these walls are so thin I can hear the two couples between us and their orgasms. First and foremost, I want you to know that this team will not be only a front, but it is our first step to getting our identity back, you'll get your money, but let us find some good footballers who will walk away from the NPSL."

Leaning back in his chair, Jeroge waves Dave out but says one last thing to him, "I want you to know that before the mid point of the qualifying round, we will be at war with West Guiana, like you and I and everyone else outside of Gemsbrook knows, this country isn't as united as De'Cader builds it up to be."

Before walking out the door, Dave looks back and says, "Who else will take up arms?"

Looking at his phone, "You know how badly the Zoltra people are treated over by Zomni City and St. Johns? Well they're ready, along with the Beshki, and a few others. in the end we wont be the terrorists it will be those who stand by De'Cader and support him."

RP Prompt II

Postby Geektopia » Fri Feb 08, 2019 5:42 pm

Coach Rozensweig fires Runīn and hires Netīve Votīsent as replacement

From desperation, frustration, and low morale, Rozensweig hires offensive specialist Votīsent as a player for the team.

The bedridden Rozensweig describes the chances of even getting out with a team "this poor-performed compared to the others" are zilch. "We only hired the guy off the streets because he was taller. What's worse than our skills, though, is our motivation. We lost to two out of three of the teams in this group which means, essentially, we have no chance."

The coach still has faith enough to train them, but not as well as was beforehand.
With the match against The Third Asopia coming up, regarding fans of Geektopia, has only had a few thousand tickets bought and little turnout. Geektopia had finally known what it had meant to only be the best in their country.
