BREAKING! Groups announced for the BoF 69!
EASTFIELD LODGE --
We can confirm that as of 21:30 UTC, the Walensteiner national team has arrived in Eastfield Lodge via their chartered Airbus A350 aircraft in preparation for the group stages of the Baptism of Fire 69. Other than a couple of friendlies played earlier, the tournament will mark the first international matches for the newly founded national football association.
Whilst the nation’s fans, players, and team staff are undoubtedly nervous competing as a team for the time, the team’s performance throughout the tournament should hopefully gauge the level of talent of Walensteiner footballers, with all eyes on strikers Nikolaus Ludwig and Matthias Merten, who fought for last season’s golden boot in the Walensteiner SuperLiga. Ludwig ended up winning the award, with an astounding 23 goals to his name, and Merten came in close at 21.
The team reportedly wasted no time after arriving and getting settled in, with Head Coach Amadeus Klausmann getting his men to practice on the pitch as much as possible before their first game on Thursday.
Walenstein was placed in Group 9, competing against Zuiopien, Alanikka and Najaf, over a total of 6 legs. Mr. Klausmann has held a press conference for Walensteiner media shortly after the announcement broke.
TV Walenstein 1 sports correspondent Hans Stettersberg requested the coach’s thoughts on the opposition in Group 9.
“Well, our opponents are all great teams without a doubt, I am sure all our matches will be fast-paced and interesting. Hopefully we’ll be able to experiment with the squad over the first few legs, seeing what works and what does not. It’s one of the first times these lads have played alongside eachother, and coming off a heated SuperLiga season means they will need to adjust to eachother. I think a finish in the top two spots, therefore moving on past the group stages is a definite possibility for us, however anything can happen. I’m sure we’ll play our best football, and, well, we’ll see how this works out for us” the coach responded.
Another journalist wanted to know if the coach felt pressure to do good at the tournament, given that Walensteiner football fans have a tendency to engage in very destructive riots and looting when their preferred team loses.
“We without a doubt we condemn all acts of football-related hooliganism, however acknowledge that our performance might be a factor in potential public disorder. We fully support local police within Walenstein, and we are sure they will be able to disperse any troublesome individuals during sanctioned public viewing parties in the streets outside of the KreditWalenstein Arena. Any of our travelling fans caught causing issues in the host nations will, alongside whatever local punishments they face, be reported to Walensteiner authorities and be banned for life from further FA matches.” The coach assured.
Join us at 17:30 on Thursday for full coverage of the BoF Group 9 fixture of Walenstein v. Alanikka!

By: Asa KanukiroPreview of North Quadana at Baptism of Fire
Last evening, the Baptism of Fire groups were drawn. North Quadana was drawn in Group 3 with Antahbrantahstan, Apl0n and Vartugia. Now that the groups have been drawn, there is only one question that's left: "What to expect from Quadana?"
The manager, Hideyo Tanimoto is expected to run a 4-2-2-2 formation with Oyakawa Senzo and Kwang-Sun Joon up top. This formation provides much firepower for the strong Quadanese offense, with Okura and Konigashi supplying the two strikers with passes and helping with their support. If the Quadanese are lined up in a 4-2-2-2 formation, expect a lot of crossing from the wingers, as Tanimoto is surely to use the tall and strong team captain Senzo as a target man.
It should come without a doubt that the midfield will be left to the Ksenukai Premiership veterans Osada Kazuko and Tanji Shohei. If the Quadanese want to spread the play, expect Kata or Shinsaku to roam down the flanks. Hideyo Tanimoto has also brought a defensive option in Wasabe Miyagaro. If Tanimoto decides to put Miyagaro in the starting line-up, the team will switch to a 4-4-2 Diamond formation.
And last but not least, we arrive at the North Quadanese defensive line. Tanimoto has made sure the defense is always up and running, with 7 defenders on the squad. The typical 4-defender back line will usually be filled by Kano, Suzuki, Sawao and Fujimaro. Sawao has proved himself not only as a great defender, but also as a threat in the winger positions. Expect to see him pushing up high. There is also a slim possibility that Sawao will be moved up to the midfield and Tanimoto will play a 3-5-2 formation with Kano, Suzuki and Minami as the three defenders. For the goalkeepers. Kouji Kitano is expected to take the gloves in the group stage, although Morimoto is a great option with lots of experience from back home.

LOM National Team placed in Group #4 for Baptism of Fire Tournament
Our very own National Football Team has officially been placed in group #4 of the Baptism of Fire. They have been placed in the same group as North Miklik, TigerSharkistan, and Ashaie. They will play all three teams before, hopefully, progressing on to the knockout stage.
The players have been "training hard and are very hyped," says Assistant Coach, Neil Berkley, who arrived at the on-site athlete's quarters with the team. According to him, the team will be running drills and continuing their training up until the day before Match #1. On that day, the team will partake in team building exercises, in hopes of improving team chemistry.
According to Maximusian Head coach, Vincent Alfonsi, "We don't have the best record going into this tournament. As such, we are going to make sure to capitalize on the places were we faltered during the IDUFC. The technical team and I have spent hours pouring over game footage and are pretty sure we have ascertained a winning strategy. Let's pray we are right!"
According to credible sources, the National Team will be utilizing a simple but classic 4-4-2 formation. This means having 2 CB, 1 RB, 1 LB, on defense, 2 CDM, 1 LW, and 1 RW on mid-field, and 2 strikers on attack. Historically, this formation has been used to great effect by many teams across the multiverse.
