Welcome to the 37th edition of the World Cup of Hockey, hosted by the Equestrian States. Please feel free to begin posting your RPs and rosters here in this thread. Please direct any OOC discussion to the WCoH Discussion Thread.

New to Sports Roleplaying?

First, if you’re new to the NS Sports forum, I strongly encourage you read the Guide to Sports Roleplaying.

For those of you who want me to simply get to the basics, the first thing you’ll want is a roster. A roster is a list of the names of your players and what positions they play; but if you want, you can post other information as well. This can include, but certainly isn’t limited to: line assignments, strengths and weaknesses, statistics, and performances in previous tournaments or in your own domestic leagues. Other common elements of a good roster include images and information on arena(s) your team uses, uniforms, and coaching staff.

Second, you may choose to assign your team a style modifier. A style modifier is a value between -5 and 5, which may play a role in determining the number of goals your team scores and/or concedes. A team with a higher style mod is more likely to score goals, being more aggressive, but is also more likely to concede them as well due to taking unnecessary risks. Lower style mod teams are less likely to score goals, but are much less likely to allow goals as well. It should be noted that style mods do not play a role in determining who wins or loses games, only what the score itself is. Should you choose to give your team a style mod, please make it clear to me by including it in your permissions box (see below paragraph), bolding it, underlining it, or otherwise making it clear to me.

Finally, you should also include an RP Permissions box in your roster post. It is an essential part of participating in any tournament. The idea of the box is to let your opponents know what you are willing to allow them to do, and what you aren’t willing to allow them to do. This includes injuries, goalscorers, etc. Please post the following somewhere in your roster when you post one:

Code: Select all
My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following...
Choose My Scorers: Yes/No (Note: Unless you can throw together an RP quickly after scores are posted every MD, don't say no to this)
Godmod Scoring Events: Yes/No
RP Injuries to My Players: Yes/No
Godmod Injuries to My Players: Yes/No
RP Penalties for My Players: Yes/No
RP Ejections for My Players: Yes/No
Godmod Other Events: Yes/No

Scorination

Games will be scorinated at approximately 11:00 PM-Midnight EST (04:00-05:00 UTC) each day unless otherwise noted. Participants should assume the cutoff will be at the earlier end of that window regardless of the previous day's cutoff time. Should the time frame or schedule need to be changed, I will try to give no less than one day’s warning before this.

Who's Who

Keeper
Tim Goldkeld is known more for his mop of curly hair than any professional hockey experience. The 19 year old plays for Blue Coast University. Although BCU has top tier programs, it is known as the biggest party school in the Vannish Empire. Scouts believe Tim has some of the fastest reflexes in Vannish hockey. He's good enough to start for the national team. Some of Vangaziland's best hockey players are still in college earning their degrees. Since hockey is a semi-pro sport in Vangaziland, many players work other jobs.

Katrina Bloch is another collegiate goalie. She brings more aggression that Tim. Katrina has stepped up to help her team when championships with late game clutch performance. Top tier international forwards will be the strongest test either keeper has faced.

Defenseman
Rik Skullkap starts at the left defenseman spot. He is known for his intensity, though he may be sloppy at clearing around the goal. He has a hit first mentality that may not always stop defenders. He needs to work on his fundamentals with the puck. Wilmer Wahlgren subs in for him at 6'3. Wilmer is big, but isn't the best skater when compared to the international level.

Daron Flake starts at Right Defense. He plays for the small school South Stead College. He shows better skating and fundament skills than his Vannish semi-pro counterparts. Entering the World Cup of Hockey is designed to draw Imperial interest in the sport to build the domestic leagues. Players like Flake will need to step up to make the geese competitive.

5'11 Sara Daganson is the youngest player on the defensive unit. She is most likely to lose her cool and draw a penalty. Sara is quick to respond to any situation she takes personally. This makes her one of the easiest defenders to fluster.

Forward
One of Vangaziland's best skaters starts at LW. Rashard Lee is more agile than any other Vangazi. He can be tricky to cover. Many wonder how his shot will translate against the best in the multiverse. Vannish hockey is in a development stage. The effort of a few talented players may throw a results the way of the Vangazi. The Geese are expected to struggle to compete.

Many eyes will be on James Banksson. The 18 year old is a high school senior. Banksson learned to play overseas while his father worked on an oil contract. He is the best passer and shooter on the team. Key offensive plays will likely rely on Banksson. Each line is prepared for the center to sub into their middle. His status as a somebody who hasn't even reached college draws ire, even though he is an adult. Many feel he is privileged, on and off the ice.

Line 2 is also capable for the Vangazi. Milly Hellqvist and Khristian Duffy play LW and C respectively. The two both play for the Western Vangaziland Rangers. Milly can facilitate plays and create shots. Rashard Lee may be the best overall skater. K. Duffy is still quicker.

Many analysts think a tendency towards low shooting accuracy might impact this team's offensive performance. They will still try to lobby as many shots as they can to counteract this. Jonas Sundstrom is the team captain. He has the most experience on the team and still has enough skill to impact a game.

Vannish Motors Arena - Emeros, Vangaziland
Image

The arena is home to the Emeros Sparks, a hockey team known more for Vannish history than modern relevance. Basketball and indoor lacrosse teams also play here. The crowd capacity is 23,500, located in the political capitol of the Vannish Mainlands. 'The Arena District' is the name for the surrounding area. Here you can find small parks, bars, cannabis lounges, coffee shops and restaurants. There are also office buildings and condominiums nearby.

Presents

'The IBEX'
NEU ENGOLLON NATIONAL HOCKEY TEAM:

The Ibex and hockey in Neu Engollon
There is one professional hockey league in Neu Engollon, the NEHL, with an associated minor league. There is also a strong collegiate tradition in the sport, run by NECA (Neu Engollian Collegiate Association) and the NEHL pull their players from graduates of these top schools along with minor league players. The Ibex are all pulled from the NEHL, or Neu Engollian nationals playing in equivalent foreign leagues. Andre Manon and Ernst Volkzein recently retired from playing for both the Ibex and the NEHL and are in their third year of having the management helm of the Ibex. With the gold won during the last Junior World Cup, there is a lot of hope for the future of Neu Engollian hockey that they may get back to the glory of previous years and actually be able to compete on the same level as the top 10 multiversal teams.

Pine Park HQ, Sub Level Detention
Geneva, Geneva Canton, Neu Engollon

He had had the most that he probably could have in his situation. A small suite, furniture...books. Oh, how he missed the books. They didn't give him any newspapers or magazines, but that was par for the course. If the situation was reversed, the BND wouldn't let a captured Neu Engollian intelligence officer have access to current media either. Total blackout from outside current events was a precious psychological tool.
He was afforded some semblance of privacy, although he was likely monitored at all hours of the day. In fact, his assigned psychologists had admitted as much. Edible meals, regular showers...

But more importantly, value to both the government he had worked loyally towards most of his life, and the one that currently held him. His comfort and cooperation was of value to the Neu Engollian government and his eventual freedom was of value to the government of his homeland and employer, the Bundesrepublik of Austrakia

That had all vaporized within just a few short hours, right after the botched rescue attempt by a BND/special operations team that had boldly tried to penetrate Pine Park headquarters, one of the most heavily guarded facilities in the Neu Engollian capital. More damning, they had failed because they had been expected. Walther had been used as an unwitting bait. Because of him, the entire BND network in Geneva and probably all of central Neu Engollon had been wrapped up and shut down within a matter of hours. From day one of his capture, he had become a NESA/Pine Park pawn to orchestrate the trap.

Upon return from that climactic walk, he found all of those little luxuries that a political prisoner might hope for stripped away. He was back to square one. In a small cell, in a light linen jumpsuit that would likely tear at his body weight. (They had him on tight suicide watch.) Back to daily sessions with an interrogator, or 'psychologist' as they liked to call them.

A glowing bulb overhead day and night to throw off his sleeping patterns. A small commode built into the wall in the corner with no buttons or levers and no water in the basin. It just randomly sucked his waste down on a schedule he couldn't fathom.

The cell door opened and a guard, one of the mean ones that he thought he had seen the last of, stepped in.
"On your feet, you Nazi fuck!"

He didn't argue or talk back anymore. He didn't have the energy for it. He was escorted in cuffs to another level, to a conference room he was familiar with.

He was sat down in the chair opposite a man who wore a slightly worn blue suit that was more practical than fashionable. The man was on the younger side, probably early 30's, with tight, curly hair and a brownish tint to his skin. Very uncharacteristic for a Neu Engollian. He nodded.
"Walther Liebsgott?..." NESA and Pine Park had since discovered his true identity, Walther Laubmann, but apparently they weren't sharing it with everyone. That or this man was being extra deferential. "...I'm your new attorney, Bigby Truxton."

Walt cleared his throat. He hadn't spoken in a while, so it still came out rather rough. "Forgive me, but you don't seem the eager, pinkish native type. And your name..."

Truxton smiled. "I know. Very un-Neu Engollian of me. My mother was Franco-Neu Engollian. My father was one of those rare immigrants they let in from time to time. He was born in Kenega, in Wishtonia. It's a small island near Hutanjia."

"I know where it is, yes."

"Great. Well then, shall we get down to business? I was assigned to your case. Court mandated and appointed. Unfortunately, they moved your trial up to a week from now, so we don't have much time to prepare. It's a complicated case, but I promise you that I will be studying it my every waking minute."

"No Austrakian lawyer?"

"I'm afraid not, but you could probably guess the reasons why. They have no trust and no need to allow such a thing now with all that has happened."

"That makes sense. I'm encouraged that you think my case is complicated, as it shows that you might actually put due diligence into your job. However, I have to disagree with you. It's very uncomplicated and open and shut. For one, the Confederacy will never not let me get to have my fair say. Any such trial will be a sham...A kangaroo court affair with the outcome predetermined."

"The Confederacy has laws about jurisprudence. You are entitled to a fair trial."

"Maybe on the civilian side, when it comes to their own civilians, but regardless of what they should or will do, this can't be a civilian affair, even if it's held in a civilian court room. And they won't want any hint of their entrapment operation or their dragnet operation coming to light."

Walt glanced down from Truxton to his own hands gripping the table tight, spread as far as the chains would let them. They were the hands of a much, much older man than he’d been just a year ago before this all started.
“They will never let me feel sunlight on my face again.”

Ice hockey is the most popular sport in Elejamie, followed by football/soccer (both are acceptable in Elejamie) and rugby [union], In fact, the men's national team - nicknamed the Icy Elephants, not to be confused with the ENIHL team Elejamie City Ice Elephants - are one of the best teams in the multiverse, having made the World Cup of Hockey finals four times in four consecutive competitions; winning two (29th edition against Gregoryisgodistan and 31st edition against Valanora) and losing two (30th and 32nd, both times against disliked rivals Valanora), as well as a bronze medal in Valanora back in the 28th edition; although the B-team won a gold medal in the men's ice hockey at the 12th Winter Olympics, they're considered a different team and as a result their achievement is not counted alongside the two WCoH wins. They've also been one of the best teams in the tournament, very nearly making it out of the group stage in their inaugural tournament, making it to the quarter-finals in their second, winning the bronze in their third and staying in the top ten in rankings since the 29th edition (and top 3 since the 30th WCoH), even nabbing a third trophy in the 35th edition. Although their attempt to defend their title in Anthor would later face some controversy, they're hoping to bounce back from it to make their fourth championship.

Declan Madgwick Memorial Stadium, Davenport, WYKN
Image

Home to the Davenport Dockers - the most successful team in the ENIHL (Elejamian National Ice Hockey League) - and the national team. Built in 1992 to replace Dockside Stadium, which was eventually demolished in 1995, Davenport Stadium is the largest ice hockey arena in Elejamie, with a capacity of 18,500. The stadium was originally known as the Davenport Stadium but it also spent a brief spell in the early 2000s as the Rapid Beer Co. Stadium. Eventually, it was renamed the Declan Madgwick Memorial Stadium just in time for the start of the 2015/16 season, in honour of famed politician and diplomat Declan Madgwick (1927-2015). This will serve as Elejamie's home arena for MD1, MD3 and MD5.

For the record: In the northwest of Elejamie, the term "stadium" is used for any building which hosts a professional sports team even if they don't play on a pitch.

HomeFiller Arena, Coventry, AVEN
Image

Built in 1989, the HomeFiller Arena is also known as the Coventry Arena, especially in situations where HomeFiller isn't sponsoring the event in question. With a total capacity of 17,000, it is also home to the Coventry Puffins; the backup stadium for the national ice hockey and basketball teams; home to the junior and U-18 ice hockey teams; and home to the Coventry Nets basketball team. It entered a sponsorship deal with furniture store HomeFiller in 2013. The deal, which was initially set to expire in 2017, has been extended to 2023. This will serve as Elejamie's home arena for MD7 and MD9

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose My Scorers: Yes
Godmod Scoring Events: Yes
RP Injuries to My Players: Yes (but nothing too serious; one person at a time and they can't be out for anything longer than two games. Killing is definitely out)
Godmod Injuries to My Players: Yes (same as above)
RP Penalties for My Players: Yes
RP Ejections for My Players: Yes (again, one person per game and the longest they can be suspended for is one match)
Godmod Other Events: Depends on what it is. Fighting I'm OK with but it might be a good idea to TG anything else.

  • "Keh-reen Mah-loh-tahn"; "Payl Eh-tah-nahr"; "Ah-lah-YEHM Mahn ees-hoh-kee teem".
  • Stacy Saunders is still a guy, if anyone's wondering. So, if you do mention him in your RP, make sure you say "he", "him" and "his" instead of "she" and "her".
  • In the event that any of my players interest you and you want to sign them, please tell me which one you want, which club wants them and all the details. However, George Lincoln will be retiring from both domestic and international ice hockey at the end of next season and has stated he doesn't want to play his final year with a new club.
  • Please get back to me with RP info by 10pm BST. Otherwise, I'll go ahead and put my own stuff in.
  • My main enforcers are Lupe, George Lincoln, Carlos Sierra, Paul Morton, Ethan Swinburne, Pael Atener, Mike Keller and Bill Judge (who was Elejamie's main enforcer during WJHC8). The only players that don't fight are Pedro Cervantes, Peter Berg, Stacy Saunders, Cerin Meloten and Anatoly Kasputin. Everyone else can fight, just not as often as those first guys I've mentioned.
  • Elejamie will wear their alt kit on MD1, MD5 and, should they make it there, QF.
  • It's "Rubio Orosco". Not just "Rubio" and not just "Orosco". See below for why.
  • Pedro Cervantes is Antonio's nephew. Not his brother or his son. Using the traditional Spanish naming custom (father's surname followed by mother's) it's Antonio Cervantes Nakamura and Pedro Moreno Cervantes; the latter went by his mother's surname because there was already a "P. Moreno" on the team. Even though Antonio's now retired I'm still keeping this up as I might be bringing him up a lot in RPs.
  • Danilo and Felipe Barajas are twin brothers, with Danilo being the oldest by about five minutes. Peter Berg's younger brother George played for the junior team; however, the two of them aren't related to assistant coach and ice hockey veteran Ron Berg. And usual second forward line left-winger Lucas Madgwick is the son of head coach and Elejamian hockey legend Michael Madgwick.

All players are male, even though that's not always obvious from their names.

Home Arena: Lukla Arena, located in the downtown Lukla neighborhood of our capital city, Lukla-Namche.

Lukla-Namche is in the high Himalayas, so there is some risk of altitude sickness, particularly for visiting fans or older coaching staff that may be in worse health than the players. However, even healthy young adults are occasionally affected. Lukla Arena is at an elevation of 2,860 m (9,380 ft). Some players may get tired faster than usual because of the altitude so make sure your back-up guys are ready to step in there!

The local language is Sherpa, but Tibetan and Nepali are also fairly common. Signage in English or any other language that uses the Latin alphabet is pretty much non-existent. However, GXT-Cormorant has a helpful app called SherWHUH?! that foreign visitors can download to help them navigate, which includes interactive maps and a translator.

Local food tends to have a lot of spices and a lot of soups and stews.

Coaching Staff

Head Coach: Aaron KUHN (Stelburg Kaisers)

Fresh off winning his first Strauss Cup behind the Stelburg Kaisers bench, Aaron Kuhn returns to the international level to coach the national team. Kuhn is famous for his ability to motivate players, shown in the Strauss Cup Play-offs as his Kaisers won 5 overtime games. His teams at the international and domestic level have also shared similar qualities. High-flying, physical hockey is the name of the game. Speed in all areas of the game and hard work are the key attributes of his players. The Goldhorns enter the 37th World Cup of Hockey ranked 15th in the world, and Kuhn will be hoping to take his team back to the play-off rounds of the tournament.

Roster

Goaltenders
G -- Ruslan IVANOV -- 30y/o -- Admirala Pomorie -- #1
G -- Volker SEIDEN -- 23y/o -- Eisbaren Stelburg -- #30
G -- David WAGNER -- 27y/o -- Stelburg Kaisers -- #31

Ruslan Ivanov’s back between the pipes, he’s the best goaltender of the last several years in the Ehrenliga and has been a very solid performer for the national team at previous World Cups. A hybrid goalie, he has made several highlight reel saves in the past and is very athletic. Volker Seiden and David Wagner are backing him up. Seiden has continued to develop into a very solid goaltender at Eisbaren, another athletic goalie who will take over as number 1 one day soon. David Wagner was MVP of the recent Strauss Cup Play-offs for the Kaisers, recording 6 shutouts and winning in 5 overtime games. A clutch performer, Wagner has earned his spot here and can expect some play-time as a reward.

Defencemen

D -- Bojidar IVANKOV -- 29y/o -- Admirala Pomorie -- #2
D -- Jorg GOTTSCHALL -- 26y/o -- Seelowe Marlesee -- #3
D -- Gregor HERDER -- 26y/o -- Stelburg Kaisers -- #4
D -- Timo HORN -- 29y/o -- St. Jakob Saints -- #5
D -- Koloman SCHWARZMANN -- 25y/o -- Teufelsberg Devils -- #6
D -- Fabian AUER -- 28y/o -- Stahlberg Steelers -- #8
D -- Lothar SCHERER -- 29y/o -- Stelburg Kaisers -- #22

A veteran defence corps should make the Goldhorns a very difficult team to score against. Bojidar Ivankov has been a top-pairing D for his entire career with the national team, and the strong two-way defender is a very important player. Jorg Gottschall will line up beside him, the winner of the Defenceman of the Year award in the Ehrenliga last season is a physical defender who moves the puck well. Fabian Auer and Koloman Schwarzmann pair up behind them, a strong mix of a defensive defenceman (Auer) and a big, physical defender with a cannon of a shot from the point (Schwarzmann). Gregor Herder and Timo Horn are another pair with good chemistry, Horn being perhaps the most consistent defender in the lineup and able to serve at any role. Lothar Scherer is the usual 7th man, a championship player who was great down the stretch for the Kaisers in the Strauss Cup Playoffs.

Left Wing
LW -- Kosyo VARBANOV -- 27y/o -- Rudar Trkev -- #13
LW -- Alex SCHNYDER -- 27y/o -- Teufelsberg Devils -- #7
LW -- Frank HEIDER -- 21y/o -- Seelowe Marlesee -- #14
LW -- Veselin FILIPOV -- 28y/o -- Olympia Borograd -- #15

The Goldhorns’ left flank is covered by a strong contingent of players. Alex Schnyder is up on the top line, the sniper with a strong one-timer put up 40 goals in the Ehrenliga last season and has always found the back of the net in blue and gold. Frank Heider is an emerging talent, the speedy winger a dominant force for Seelowe Marlesee last season. He comes up big in clutch time, leading the Strauss Cup playoffs in points despite his team losing in the Cup final. Heider will be a star, and he’s hoping the World Cup of Hockey will be his coming out party. Veselin Filipov is a good two-way forward, as well as working hard to get the puck for his linemates. Willing to do anything it takes for a win, he’s a good player for this team. Kosyo Varbanov missed much of the Ehrenliga season with injury last year, but still holds a place on the World Cup team. Starting off on the 4th line, Varbanov will certainly have opportunities to move up the depth chart as the tournament progresses.

Right Wing
RW -- Razvigor TSVETANOV -- 22y/o -- Admirala Pomorie -- #19
RW -- Wolfram SPIEGEL -- 30y/o -- Stelburg Kaisers -- #12
RW -- Grozdan ADAMOV -- 30y/o -- Olympia Borograd -- #17
RW -- Christian HASSELBERGER -- 24y/o -- Pinguine Ternau -- #24
RW -- Rupert GANZFIELD -- 30y/o -- Stelburg Kaisers -- #11

The right wing is filled with some of Siovanija and Teusland’s finest hockey talent. Razvigor Tsvetanov is the obvious top line guy, he’s rounded out into a strong power forward who can score seemingly at will. He led the Ehrenliga in goals with 45 last season, and came second in MVP voting. His young career is just getting started, and there’s a real chance he goes down as one of the greatest Siovanija and Teusland players of all time. Wolfram Spiegel is a pure goal-scorer who has always done his job for the Kaisers, including 41 last season and 2 goals in Game 7 of the Strauss Cup Final. He’s a threat from anywhere in the attacking zone, and his wrist shot is one of the best on the team. Grozdan Adamov is a very good playmaker, and on led his Olympia Borograd team with 54 assists last season. Christian Hasselberger is new to this team, the Pinguine Ternau man works hard along the boards to win the puck, but he’s not just a grit player: he scored 20 goals in Ternau’s successful campaign. Rupert Ganzfield will serve as the 13th forward at the tournament, while he’s lost some of his speed his hockey IQ is still an incredible asset, and he can often create something out of nothing.

Centre
C -- Gunter PFENNING -- 29y/o -- St. Jakob Saints -- #9
C -- Timo SCHLAGER -- 20y/o -- Seelowe Marlesee -- #97
C -- Gero RADULOV -- 26y/o -- Olympia Borograd -- #64
C -- Edgar SECKBACH -- 28y/o -- Avangard Oktyabrgrad (NZEL) -- #20

The greatest player of his generation, Gunter Pfenning leads the national team yet again. Ehrenliga MVP and top point scorer last season, his quiet confidence and leadership have contributed to his class. An incredible playmaker, but not afraid to shoot either. Young Timo Schlager gets his first chance now with the national team, the young centre was second in Ehrenliga points with 81. He’s an incredibly speedy player capable of great skill, his stick handling is on another level, and he seems to see plays before they happen. Gero Radulov is the dominant centre of Olympia Borograd, and he’s been put with his linemates Filipov and Adamov for this tournament. Edgar Seckbach is a strong playmaker, and he and Kosyo Varbanov should be quite dangerous together.

Captain: Gunter Pfenning
Alternate Captains: Bojidar Ivankov, Fabian Auer

Schnyder - Pfenning - Tsvetanov

The Triple Edelweiss jerseys serve as the primary set for the WCoH, with the light gold and blue being the main colours for these jerseys. Each of these colours represents Siovanija and Teusland, with the national flower featured prominently on the front. Writing below says ‘Siovanija and Teusland’ in both official languages. The team attempts to use each jersey equally, and of course avoids clash with other teams. The gold primary jersey, however, has sold more with fans and is considered the de facto home jersey. In honour of the 100th anniversary of the Ehrenliga and Hockey Siovanija and Teusland, the team will also wear a throwback jersey in certain games. This jersey is designed off the first international uniforms used by the nation, and is full green with an edelweiss on the front. The writing ‘OPCT’ is on the front as well, taken from when the Siovanijan language still used the Cyrillic script (OPCT = United Republics of Siovanija and Teusland). The jersey has proven to be very popular so far, and rumour is it will be a permanent third jersey. The Goldhorns will wear it for the entire Anniversary Super Series against the Royal Kingdom of Quebec, and for 2 World Cup of Hockey round robin games.

Anniversary Super Series

This year marks the 100th anniversary of both the Ehrenliga and Hockey Siovanija and Teusland. To celebrate this occasion, HST has invited the Royal Kingdom of Quebec, the Goldhorns’ first-ever World Cup of Hockey opponents, to play in a 4-game exhibition series. 2 games will be held in Siovanija and Teusland, and 2 will be held in Quebec. A great four-game series of hockey was played, with the results as follows:

Game 1: Siovanija and Teusland 5-5 Royal Kingdom of Quebec, @Olimpski-Ledarena (19,000), Borograd
Game 2: Siovanija and Teusland 4-7 Royal Kingdom of Quebec, @Stelburg Eispalast (24,500), Stelburg
Game 3: Royal Kingdom of Quebec 0-1 Siovanija and Teusland, @Quebec
Game 4: Royal Kingdom of Quebec 0-1 Siovanija and Teusland, @Quebec

Home Venues

The Goldhorns will split their matches between 2 arenas, the Olimpski-Ledarena in Borograd and the Stelburg Eispalast in Stelburg. The Ledarena seats 19,000 and is home to HK Olympia Borograd. Located in downtown Borograd, it is a hub of entertainment in the city and hosted some of the Goldhorns’ matches in WCoH 35. The Stelburg Eispalast has traditionally been the home of the national team, and also hosts the Stelburg Kaisers. The 24,500 seat arena is known for its great atmosphere, and hosted the Goldhorns in WCoH 35 and 36.

Lisander National Ice Hockey Team

About the team
The structure of this team is the team of the best of the regular season of LNH, National League. Most of these players will return to their teams, still thinking about the Harmin Cup.

The first lineup has three players from HC Dalena, including the 2x Goalkeeper of the Year and Captain of both his team and national team, Jean-Luc Anger. The defensive line has Brandon Montagne, also of the HCD, along with Asier Díez, young revelation of HC Universitario. But Zane Huddleston, also of HCD, and Sora Necchi, of HC Sparta, are on the same level and can replace them at any time. The offensive line has Mark Horsfall of HCU, Fernando Simoniti of HCD and Blake Lynton of Sparta. However, no one there has an absolute right to the position because Tim Bloxham (Sparta), Daniel Schiller (Blues), Hyacinthus Larue (Wolves), Fernando Marino (Bats) and James Allegro (HCD) also intend to play a lot. Considering the interests of Coach Andreas Bohinc, that wants to test a lot of people, it is likely that all of them play a lot.

Home Jersey (designed by me on paint using one of -Anthor-'s template):

Playing style:

Players from former Prusy Krolewskie relies on puck control, speed, fineness and perfect passes. They prefer to keep the puck than shooting on the net. Their style is comparable to the USSR style in the '70s. The Pruski doesn't like physical play at all.

Players from former Botten plays modern hockey and they're pretty much skilled. They don't keep the puck as much longer as Prussian players and they don't dump the puck either.

Players from former Southern Democratic States plays north american style hockey. They crash the net and are more physical than Prussian and Bothnian players. Hunter McGuire is a power forward and sometimes goes for the big hit. He's not affraid to drop the gloves too.

MYTANIJA SQUAD FOR WORLD CUP OF HOCKEY 37

The Mytanar national hockey team has been named ahead of the nation's return to the World Cup of Hockey in what will be the 37th edition held in Equestrian States. Head Coach Ivica Takac has named a largely youthful and inexperienced team - the team's average age is 25.5 (!) - with this tournament being seen as somewhat of a 'free hit' for the national side as they re-enter international competition for the first time in a very long time. This squad will look to gain all-important tournament experience as they look towards future competition as a more likely opportunity for success. Takac was relatively laidback when discussing the tournament: "There isn't actually too much pressure on us going in to this tournament, obviously we shall look to do as well as we can but our main objective in this World Cup of Hockey is simply to give a good account of ourselves and get used to the standard of competition at international level. Nobody is expecting us to do anything more than that and that is a good thing for this team, as there's a lot of potential there and too much pressure too early could hurt the development of some of - what could potentially be - our finest talents."

All of the team's home games will be played at the NacZat Arena located in the country's capital, Esca. The modern 12,500 capacity venue held fixtures during the 20th Handball World Cup held in Mytanija, including the final. The brand new arena hosts all of Mytanija's indoor sports national teams (i.e. basketball, handball, ice hockey, volleyball) and boasts all the amenities you could want from a national stadium, easy access, a huge variety of refreshment kiosks, great sight-lines and acoustics and it has the biggest capacity of any indoor arena in Mytanija. Home fixtures will be fiercely partisan, as many have come to expect of Mytanar sporting events. The now infamous ultras groups produce an intimidating atmosphere with their singing, chanting and bouncing as well as impressive tifo choreographies with flags, banners etc.

Dagans Draw NSSCRA Rival,
by Chelsea Dufresne, Concord Heights Times

Is there a budding rivalry coming into place between Vilita and Turori and Cassadaigua? Well, probably not, but for a couple nations that have been active in the sporting multiverse for a long time, it seems that very recently, we have been crossing each others paths quite a bit. It started in the World Cup 81 cycle, where the two teams played each other in the same group during the Proper. Vilita, who went on to win the World Cup, only lost one match during the entire cycle. That was the group stage match between us and them. For Vilita, the loss never mattered, as they had wrapped up the group to begin with (leading some to suggest they didn’t have the same intensity level for the match), but for Cassadaigua it was a confidence booster that saw the team sneak into the round of 16 themselves.

Let us also look at NSSCRA, as the two motorsports loving nations have gone head to toe pretty strongly against one another especially in the last two seasons. In NSSCRA 6, Vilita and Turori’s River Suzgar won the championship at the Proving Grounds in Tundra Falls, Newmanistan. Our own Stacie Houston finished second. This year, the two nations had two of the more dominant race teams again, and there was a fantastic finish during the regular season with Yraaga Gilli’i (of Vilita and Turori) edging out Stacie Houston at Concord Heights Motor Speedway, keeping Houston from winning her home track race that was sponsored by her own primary sponsor. Fast forward then to the recently completed season finale, again at the Proving Grounds in Newmanistan. Gilli’i had the lead with one lap to go, and was poised to give Vilita and Turori Motorsports their second consecutive championship. However, Houston would not be denied, and with drafting help, she completed the pass of Gilli’i and took the checkered flag by a mere .002 seconds at the finish line. Look, I realize a lot of hockey fans might not care about the ins and outs of stock car racing, but just understand this: you can’t determine a champion in any more dramatic fashion that occurred there. Imagine the World Cup of Hockey being won a goal at the buzzer. That would be the equivalent.

While Houston and Gilli’i might personally be building a good rivalry, it seems like, by association, it could develop with us and Vilita and Turori. Perhaps the Proving Grounds Spirits of Newmanistan wanted to keep us together, and just made sure that when the World Cup of Hockey group draw came out, we’d be playing Vilita and Turori at least two more times, this time on the ice. Make no mistake, we’re not close to Vilita and Turori on the ice right now. They are a superior team. In a NSSCRA equivalent, we are about as intimidating as Xanneria drivers are to them. Oh wait, Xanneria is in our group too! Upsets can happen, though.

Will there ever be a true Cassadaigua-Vilita and Turori rivalry? It does look like this might be more just a thing of the present then something that lasts long term. Too bad they couldn’t make their way into the World Baseball Classic, but they don’t do that. For now, let’s just enjoy it for what it is. Perhaps in the World Cup it could get interesting. They are the reigning champion, but we are improving our own program too, have qualified two of the last three Cups, and it is in our pedigree to be a contender in that.

By the way, Stacie Houston will be on hand to drop the ceremonial first puck when our home game vs Vilita and Turori talks place.

Head Coach: Image Bernardo Allegri • Trigramme: MRC • Nickname: The Kingfishers

Following the nation's historic 4th place finish in the Free Republics at the tournament's 35th edition, the Kingfishers couldn't go one better and claim their first podium position, as the Royal Kingdom of Quebec took out the team in black and blue at the Round of 16 stage in Anthor. However the nation's only notable run took them all the way to the semi-final, where they ran into eventual champions Elejamie and ultimately collapsed to Vilita & Turori for the third place playoff by a margin of 10-4. Now, their team is refreshed after entering a long winter and spring period where hockey certainly wasnt on the mind of much of the populace. Delays in the Hockey Champion's League has meant the MSL domestic season has been on a hiatus for many months, leading many of the clubs in Mercedini to organise friendlies between themselves and against other clubs abroad. With plenty of debutant players taking part in the 37th edition, the Mercedinian roster is more competitive than ever when it comes to competing for those starting positions and making a name for themselves domestically and abroad. Let's see who has made the trip to the Equestrian States and line-up for the 37th edition of the World Cup of Hockey.

Mercedinian-style hockey is much more irregular than its regulation counterparts from other nations, with players often staying on the ice for large periods of time, rarely changing only for injuries and drastic tactical changes. Changes are typically made during the inter-period intervals or during special events such as powerplays or short-handed periods, where management and coaches then assess tactics and change the line-ups from there. Changes are often made man for man at a specific position on the ice rather than a whole line change all at once, meaning there can be hundreds of different combination of players available to the coaching staff throughout the tournament, all depending on the opponents they are playing. This means Mercedinian hockey players are extremely fit and have tremendous stamina to last vast swathes of the period. However, tactical adaptability does become a challenge, with players excelling in some areas while lacking in others, with those qualities dependant on their preferred playstyles in the game.

GOALTENDERS
GT Luke Carshavington 24 Image Severnaya Oblast
GT Martin Adalya 31 Image Orga HC
GT Adam Orlavic 20 Image Kaldex Tridents

Severnaya Oblast's Luke Carshavington gets the nod as first choice goaltender for the tournament as he maintains his position as the nation's number one, but it's likely that the second and third choice for Mercedini will almost certainly get a run out during middle period or against potential dead rubbers if they work their way to a position where they can afford to take their foot off the gas for a couple of matches. Adam Orlavic will be in accompaniment once again with the latest addition of Orga HC's Martin Adalya (thanks to his top performances which saw his team lift the domestic title), with the three goaltenders each having different positives and negatives which can be used to the teams advantage depending on the opponent. Defensive technique will need to be assessed after the team conceded ten in their third place playoff again V&T, but skill and talent might be enough to get the Kingfishers through to the knockout rounds once again

DEFENDERS

D David Ornstein 22 Image Orga HC
D Karl Darlington 25 Image Acoflosa Pengiuns

D Magnus Demokritos 32 Image Zoloroni City Icers
D Andris Draspanza 19 Image Blue Strike Zoloroni

The defensive roster as stayed marginally the same since the previous edition with every player from the first two lines called back up from the previous World Cups of Hockey in the Free Republics and Anthor. The Pollock brothers, still playing their hockey in Lokomotiv Nezaemy, remain the first choice for the defensive line thanks to their speed with the puck combining well the communication that the brothers have nurtured throughout their professional careers as hockey players and as real-life siblings growing up. They are the only two member of the defensive roster currently playing their hockey outside of Mercedini, a league which is rapidly receiving further international coverage thanks to the clubs' performances in the Hockey Champion's League. The rest play for teams in the Mercedinian Super League and hold their own when it comes to positions in the national team. Demokritos and Draspanza are the two newest additions to the roster, with both playing hard-hitting hockey in the nation's capital. Defensive errors is where the game is won or lost, so Mercedini have been working hard on it, so it will all come to head when Mercedini play their opening group games.

ATTACKERS

AR Patrick Pucheclic 21 Image Acoflosa Penguins

AL Eliah Kozhikina 26 Image Ozzaya Agranka Synthesis
AC Pedro Antic 23 Image SKK Ogdenagorv
AR Lambeth Carpic 18 Image ZSCYA

When it comes to attacking prowess, Mercedini are one of the world leaders in the sport of football, but hockey is largely an untouched market when it comes to internationally recognised players in many reaches of the multiverse. Still, Mercedini have got a series of marquee names on their rosters with a series of leagues represented in all different parts of the multiverse. MSL winner Arthur, NZEL team of the year member Morton and Kebecois league winner and player of the season Ismaat are named as the preferred trio once again to lead the Kingfishers into battle against their five other opponents in the group. There's plenty of support in the second and third lines of the attacking roster with Mercedinian league clubs up and down the country represented well by the number of players in this roster. There's plenty to be excited about if you are a fan of the Mercedinian National Team. We all wait with baited breath for the first match of the tournament to see whether all this practice has finally paid off.

Pine Park HQ, Sub Level Detention
Geneva, Geneva Canton, Neu Engollon

"That's him?" He nodded to a haggard man with salt and pepper hair, head bowed, that sat on the other side of the one way glass. He was chained to a chair in the center of the room.

"Yeah, part of the street security team. The only survivor. Josef Tuerlinger." The Pine Park Director said.

"Really!? You got a name out of him?"

"It's a cover. We used the facial recognition software and matched CC footage. He's been here a loooong time. We're still checking, but over 15 years looks like...Accountant in Albertville. Whatever identity he had in Austrakia is long since erased."

"Deep sleeper.” The NESA Director, Karl von Tindelberg, whistled. “I heard you got one other.”

“You have been well briefed, as always. Yes, no name, but not a sleeper. BND black ops and a recent insertion, we believe. He was one of their snipers overlooking the end of the block. Incredible that we got him alive.”

“They did pull out all the stops for the Laubmann rescue attempt. It’s still astounding to us. They rolled that dice and lost a lot.”

“Yes, which is part of why I wanted to talk to you.”

“I’m listening.”

“Laubmann still must have incredible value to the Bundesrepublik. After this trial nonsense is done, we need to look at getting back to the serious interrogations.”

“I can’t argue with you, but I think it’s out of our hands. They want to see him fry.”

“Short term gratification for a solution to a long term problem. I think we could still close down more networks if we can really get in his head. Tap into everything in his subconscious.”

“That’s a long game. A lot of folks who want to keep stirring this pot don’t have that patience.”

“You’re not telling me anything I don’t already know. Are we going to work together on this?”

“I’m ready to hear whatever you have. Then I want to be here when you grill him.” He thumbed at Josef.

“Absolutely. Deal. You won't have long to wait.”
TG me with questions if you got some, especially about GE&T or PMCs.
