Welcome to the second season of the Nationstates Association of Stock Jet Aircraft Racing (NASJAR)!

21 pilots from around the NS Omniverse will compete in a series of races over the next few weeks, earning points based on their position in each race. After the first round of races, the field eligible for the championship title will be halved. After the second round, one quarter will remain. And, in the final elimination round, there will be only six racers competing in a series of four races which will determine which one will win the Hartmann Cup! There will be sweat. There will be tears! And there will be one heck of a sweet party after the championship race. Be sure to tune in, and, jet pilots the Omniverse over, bring your A-game!

RACE ORDER, SCORING INFO, AND SCHEDULE

Postby NASJAR » Sun Jan 13, 2019 11:16 am

Cutoff time is 15:30 Arizona Time the day of. If you want to google that, I'm basing it off my hometown of Tucson. As with last season, if I'm late scorinating, cutoff isn't until I actually announce it. I didn't explicitly state this last season, but, in case anyone is worried, I only give myself RP bonus if I post an RP by the officially stated cutoff time of 15:30. If I'm late, my pilots get no RP bonus for the round.

1: The Jebsheim Experience - Exhibition - 1/19/19
2: The Jebsheim Experience - Points - Nonelimination (winner and second advance to Chase) - 1/26/19
3: Monarch City Raceway - Points - Elimination (bottom 3) - 2/2/19
4: A Race Against Winter - Points - Nonelimination (best nonadvancing finish and highest nonadvancing leaderboard advance) - 2/9/19
5: Oea Island Hopping - Points - Elimination (bottom 3) - 2/16/19
5.5: Oea Island Dogfight - Exhibition Dogfight - 2/23/19
6: Mianach Air Racing Course - Points - Nonelimination (best finish and highest leader advance) - 3/2/19
7: Heske River Run - Points - Elimination (bottom 3) - 3/9/19
8: Seabhcóir Aerodrome Racefield - Points - Nonelimination (best finish and highest leader advance) - 3/16/19
9: The Grande Air Course - Points - Nonelimination -3/23/19
10: Bettelmönchsschlucht - Points - Nonelimination -3/30/19

At this point, there will be 12 still in the competition, but only 8 eligible to win. No pilots will be dropped from the competition from this point onward, only from eligibility to win.

CHASE 1 - Elimination (bottom 2 in Chase) - 4/6/19
CHASE 2 - Elimination (bottom 2 in Chase) - 4/13/19
CHASE 3 - FINAL - 4/20/19

Please let me know if this schedule doesn't work. I based it on my days off, expected freetime, and to allow plenty of time to RP, as I've found from personal experience that having scorinations too frequently can result in burnout. I am willing to scorinate up to twice in a given week, due to availability and lessons learned from NASJAR 1.

The points will be awarded as follows:

RP Bonus: 14, dropping by 2 every nonelimination race. Not reflected in leaderboard score, but counted in skill.

1st: 21
2nd: 20
3rd: 19
4th: 18
5th: 17
6th: 16
7th: 15
8th: 14
9th: 13
10th: 12
11th: 11
12th: 10
13th: 9
14th: 8
15th: 7
16th: 6
17th: 5
18th: 4
19th: 3
20th: 2
21st: 1

Jebsheim. A few hours before the Race.
Karim Maghamir was nervous.
He was an experienced pilot, nearly six years of service with the Kyrenaian Coast Guard as an aviator, nearly two of which with their flight demonstration team - which didn't fly Vampires.
Still, he and a fellow pilot of his, Rasha Ghym, had been chosen to represent the Sultanate at NASJAR 2. They had been introduced to the Vampire, flew their test rounds, flew more rounds, including above Oea, where they would soon race, flew even more rounds... and now, they felt ready. Ready for take-off for the first race.
The Overalls of the Kyrenaian Coast Guard were of a deep, burgundy red, much like their blue dresses, so the young man wore that one, as did the Ground Crew. Experienced mechanics, who had experience with the Vampire, some even Hired Screwdrivers - the mechanic-version of a hired gun.
Karim snorted in amusement at his wordplay.
Many of the pilots were returnees, who had participated in NASJAR 1, pilots from the Frozen Forest and the Free Lands. He was not above admitting, that he had images of a certain kind of Ollmhór in his room, but he would never tell her.
On the contrary, at their first meeting, the young man with the deep, red eyes only got out a Stutter in response to her nice greeting. Leathchúpla and Eitleoir had been idolized, meeting them was not a let-down, but he did imagine Eitleoir to be a bit taller.
A Selkie-Journalist had made a few images.
In any case, he would compete with these people in a few short hours...
"Pay attention, sonny!", the head mechanic yelled and almost threw a wrench at him, "Dream tonight!"
"Yes, Sir!", the young pilot yelped and continued with the pre-race checks.
"Let's be honest, he's been dreaming of a pair of fuel tanks!", one of the other mechanics added, earning a round of laughs and a blush.
"Back to work, you people!", the head mechanic yelled and everyone scrambled.
In a few hours, they would have a go. The canopy would be closed, the engines started.
The race would finally begin!

A few dozen metres away.
"And this is, what gives the Vampire its distinctive way of handling her.", Rasha explained with a small smile. With her was a camera and an interviewer, who worked for The Little Desert Mouse, a show for kids, where they learned about the world. And today, not only did they get a look behind the scenes of the NASJAR Race in Jebsheim, but also a close-up on her aircraft, the Vampire. "Her elevators, ailerons and her rudder. One can easily bring her in and out of rolls and even stalling is not much of a problem, but the rudder is sometimes a bit hard to work with."
"Before you were selected, have you ever flown a Vampire?", the interviewer asked.
"I did, once.", Rasha replied, "I fell in love with her immediately - she's a natural dancer."
"How would you say are the chances of the Kyrenaian Pilots to win?"
"To win, they are not bad.", she replied, "But we will get good positions in the final standings for sure!" She let a beat pass. "Now, come on to the cockpit! Let me tell you, it's a bit of a mess..."
And next Saturday morning, the entire tour would be broadcasted, but before that, Rasha wanted to score well here in Jebsheim - and that would be hard, tour for children's TV or not.
She and not Karim had been chosen for this publicity stunt simply because she was photogenic and he was a good-looking young man, when one was a young woman, while she had the Big Sister Vibe going for her.
Her mechanics did not watch with bemusement, but they were working on the plane while she was conducting the interview, a testament to their skill.
If it all worked, that was.
"NASJAR 1 was plagued by a saboteur - can that happen again?", the interviewer asked.
"He will have it harder, that is for sure.", Rasha replied as she ascended the stairs to her cockpit, "Security precautions have been amped up, to my knowledge." With a practiced ease, she slipped into it. "Now, this here is the cockpit..."
RPing in MT and PT.

"I'm about to head back, Red Leader", Duke Harssen called over the radio. He gave his cousin Fritz the nickname, though it wasn't the callsign he'd use during NASJAR competition. The two black Saab 21R jets streaked high above the midday sky above Central Vangaziland farmland. Duke Sven and Prince Fritz Vang spent the past few days staying in different rural cottages. They spent time away from the big cities to constantly train for NASJAR.

Prince Fritz flew on his cousin's wing. Sven is a former Vannish Air Force F-16 pilot. Fritz is a private pilot with a commercial instrument rating. Duke Harssen led Fritz through much of his jet qualification and training. He taught his younger cousin several tricks to flying faster. He knew a lot of it would come down to nerves.

Many worried for Prince Fritz. He was not the most talented pilot, yet he would be racing competiive courses. Some might likely consider him dangerous. Prince Vang knew those concerns were missplaced. He'd been flying since he was 16. Fritz had once taken controls of his Cessna Citation X for part of a trip from the Mainland to Esportiva.

"Roger. Break off", Fritz responded to his cousin's call. "I want to stay out a bit longer. I've got the fuel." His cousin always seemed to be in a rush to go back. Maybe it was because Sven had been a fighter pilot before. Fritz would push his fuel to the limit.

Sven chuckled over the radio. "Okay. See you on the ground", said the Duke. His fighter rocked on it's side, exposing it's silver underbelly to Fritz's plane and the sky. Sven pulled back on his stick to pull his fighter down and away from Fritz. He pulled into a wide sweeping turn that rapidly dropped altitude. The Duke leveled off when facing just the right azimuth. The wings straightened with a crisp twist.

Sven pulled back on the stick to slowly climb. He could feel the G-forces tickle his belly with lightness as he started to rise.

Fritz increased his speed to get space between the two ships. He counted seconds to estimate distances between the two aircraft. Radar showed a blip where the Duke flew away. Once things were safe, he twisted his fighter on its side and swept into a wide turn. As his aircraft spun in a wide orbit, he looked down at the landscape below.

Prince Vang began twisting downward in his orbit. Like a corkscrew, he lowered as he rotated. Finally he saw something he'd made an interesting game for himself. There was a huge farm the pair had been flying over. A farmer had once shaken his fist as the two flew overhead. Fritz finally found what he thought was the farmhouse.

His classic fighter rocked its black and silver wings before leveling off. Fritz set his aircraft on a glide, hitting the throttle as he got closer to the home. He didn't get too low, but he was low enough to create quite a stir below.

Fritz would have never known, but the farmer was inside eating lunch with his family. The sound of the jet tore threw the family's quiet meal. it really made the father mad when his son cheered for the fighter above. "That's a Saab 21R", said the kid. "We learned about it in military history class." he had seen the fighter before and recognized the sound.

"It's loud, that's what it is", said the disgruntled farmer. He overheard his wife talking about the fact that Prince Fritz may have been flying overhead. She didn't say anything out of key. The man just thought she seemed a little too excited to talk about the Royal. Now here he was, clearly defying him in the farmer's own airspace. There had to be somebody he could call over this.

His son began making fighter plane motions with his hand, mimicking the sounds of the fighter passing overhead. The sound of Fritz's fighter returned as he flew perpendicular to the homestead. He followed a long stretch of road passing in front of the rural home.

"He's doing tricks", said the kid. he ran up from his meal for the door. The farmer yelled for him to return. The wife was too curious not to follow her son. The father was forced to join them, food sitting on the table.

Fritz decided to come back for one more pass. As the farmer's family stepped outside, they could see Fritz turning in for approach. He straightened off and pushed the throttle. His fighter sprinted ahead, looking faster and faster from far below. As he got closer to the house, Fritz twisted the control to roll the fighter on its axis. He went upside down twice with back to back barrel rolls, before leveling off. Fritz soon turned hard back in the direction he first came.

Now his fuel was looking a lot lower. He decided he should head back while he could still speed. Fritz lined up with the direction to the airfield, before pushing speed. His dark jet streaked over the forest and meadows below, skipping over occasional cars on lonely roads. He eventually made a rough landing before taxiing towards the hangar.

He couldn't imagine what it would be like to race this thing.

Silver Bay Herald, Internet Edition, published January 10th, 2019.

Roar

The Final Preparations for the Exhibition Round of NASJAR 2 are underway.

Jebsheim - On Tuesday, January 15th, 2019, NASJAR 2 will start in Jebsheim, bringing back the famous Jet Racing Series, where Selkie-Pilots participated last year. The same four pilots, Marla Eitleoir of the Tribe of Fingal, Raidri Leathchúpla of the Tribe of Navan, Amy Ollmhór of the Tribe of Dundalk and Erblin Piteog of the Tribe of Wicklow, fly their Vampires again for fame, glory and the competition. With many pilots returning, it will also be a series of huge reunions - not all of them good: According to unconfirmed sources, Amy Ollmhór and Dakov Weimar, one of the pair of loving pilots from last year, drifted apart.
There are also a lot of newcomers entering the course, for example two pilots of the Kyrenaian Coastguard, Karim Maghamir and Rasha Ghym, both part of the Air Demonstration Team.
On her social media account, Ollmhór wrote, that she looked forward the most to the Kyrenaians' home course, Oea Island Hopping in Oea. When asked about the winning chances, the third-ranked of last year assured the reporter, that she would at least be as good as last time.
Piteog, second placed, added, that it would be a wonderous spectacle, especially the Heske River Run, one of the new races this time, and both at home, the Seabhcóir Aerodrome Racefield's track and the honourable Mianach.
Eitleoir was not available for an interview.
Radio Cornwall 3 is reporting live.
KIW, Peata.

Jebsheim.
It was not an unconfirmed rumour, it was a fact.
They had drifted apart. Amy was a bit down as she looked from the hangar doors at... nothing, really, seeing, but not seeing. Jebsheim had been the site of their first date, with the waitress and everything...
But that was the past now.
Moping would not make her win this thing!
Turning around, she had to smile. Her plane from last year had indeed gone to a museum, together with the paintjob, the one, which the Cult of Rhiannon had allowed her to carry. And now, she had a new one, with a similar paintjob.
And she looked magnificent! The flaming mane of the silver horse as it tore through the landscape on a deep blue surface - it was a piece of devotion!
And like that, she would treat it.
The final preparations were coming to a close, soon, the exhibition round would start, above Jebsheim. Although nothing but fame and glory were on the line, Amy knew, that she would give it her all - as would every other sportsman and every other sportswoman in this competition!
She was ready and she knew, that the other three Selkie were, too.
It would be a wonderful competition this year again, as the engines would soon roar again!
I play PT, MT and a bit FT. I am into character-RPs.
My people are called the Selkie, the nation is usually called the Free Lands in MT-settings. Thanks.

Now he is ready to race in his jet in a International competition. Notes:(MRAF stands for: Monarch Republic Airforce. The MRAF was once the Airforce of the Monarch Republic.).
Meanwhile at the garage...
Kohan: Hurry up! Mechanic :Ok,ok,ok! *For context, the plane has had no modifications to the paint except the removal of the MRAF markings* Bluetarch The 5th: Kohan, are you sure you know what your doing? Kohan:Yes!

Jebshiem,Jebslund. Exhibition Race

Kohan the 10th gets in his plane, ready to race, the engine firing up fills him with adrenaline.
He grips the wheel, checks the controls and prepares to takeoff.
He looks forward, ready to go full throttle in his Venom.
He know this is dangerous, but he wants to show how good the Newark Aristocracy's Pliots are.
He has studied the courses all year.
The engine hits max stationary RPM.
He may be new to this, but he must be A championship contender if he wants to win the series.

Jebsheim Neuestadt

Heinz "Ketschup" Kerman had come to call Jebsheim home since his marriage to a local baker, Heidi Kerman, whose shop was usually his first port of call when in port, despite never really liking much else about the place. The admiral had never had much appreciation for its medieval aesthetic, had never really found a set of local clothes that fit or didn't make him itch something fierce (or so he claimed), and, even in Neuestadt, there wasn't really much *for* a flyboy like him, other than some of the simshops that offered very expansive and immersive flight simulators, with everything from peaceful pleasure flights in easy-to-fly prop jobs to high-energy dogfights the likes of which one usually had to be a soldier at war to experience. The problem with owning your own aircraft was that they still didn't *quite* capture the feeling of flying a bird a Kerbal knew inside and out, and, when one was active military, one had access to paint rounds and practice fields at nearly every port of call that had the space, so head-to-head wasn't quite as thrilling.

That said, when it came to bakeries, Das Flauschige Garfield was a bakery without equal, to Ketschup's (somewhat biased) eyes, with his devoutly Krakkenite wife running a tight carrier when it came to the preparation, presentation, service, and delivery of snacks of all kinds, from soft, sweet chocolate-filled pretzels a size dwarfed only by the empire-famous dorfration, to chocolate-cherry cakes of the highest calibur, to to-die-for cookies of all descriptions, to the very sorts of cakes one might normally see baked at the Temple of Snacks. Baked goods of nearly every description could be ordered at Das Flauschige Garfield, with the sole exception of anything containing meat (devout Krakkenites often did not bake bread and meat together, as bread, particularly sweet bread, was seen as one of the Sacred Symbols of the Krakken used in sacrifices, and therefore it was seen as an affront for a devout Krakkenite baker to work with meat, blood, or animal flesh of any kind in their trade. Orthodox Krakkenites of the priesthood and Watcherhood extended this consideration to mushrooms and other fungi considered "semi-animalistic", as well as any cheeses made using non-synthetic animal rennet, and used no yeast in any sweetened snack or bread, a fact Ketschup found somewhat odd.). During both the Exhibition and Round 1 races, Heidi Kerman was running a special sale on all sweet snacks, as well as on Blessed Cakes used for sacrifices (and labelled as such in the catalogue), as well as offering half-priced catering for NASJAR-affiliated businesses and teams.

When he wasn't at home, though, Ketschup was in the air, familiarising himself with the Vampire he'd be using for the competition, Rauchiger Braun, which was painted in the standard ocean-color-of-the-day up, sky-color-of-the-day down of his Fliegendewaffel, with brown stripes in the pattern of invasion stripes on both wings and the tail booms. It had been a while since he'd been in a single-engine aircraft, and his domain was bombers and ground-attack aircraft, not fighters, but the rear admiral would be damned if he was going to let any fighter pilots or his own granddaughter show him up without a fight.

Said granddaughter was currently in her grandmother's bakery, having bought several different types of goodies, including her grandmother's pumpkin pie. Thanks to the powers of science and magic, pumpkins in Jebslund could be enjoyed year-round, and even in some varieties that had slightly different flavors from natural pumpkins of ostensibly the same species. These ranged from pumpkins that had slight notes of chocolate or caramel, to pumpkins that, when baked into pies, added tastes that one would be hard put to identify even if one was a dedicated foodie, but one knew when one tasted. Jebslunden pie connoisseurs could often reliably identify not only the pumpkins used by species, but often by region and even, in the case of lab-grown pumpkins, the lab. Sternenjager had, after the exhibition race and her reading of the internet edition of the Silver Bay Herald, had a card sent to Amy Ollmhór's quarters congratulating her on the win and expressing condolences on the breakup, along with a coupon for 50% off anything at Das Flauschige Garfield, as her grandmother's pastries had always helped her chase away the blues. When she wasn't drowning said blues, at least.

Jebsheim Aldstadt
Derpol and Die Achte, on the other hand, had decided to pay the Emperor's parents a brief visit (Jeb's father made the *best* sugar cookies. One would expect having several hundred years experience would lead to that sort of thing.) before visiting some of the shops in Aldstadt, the idea being to sample the various crafts of the area and visit some of the living museums (living in the sense of still being in use in their original capacity, that is). Their poor performance in the Exhibition Race did, indeed, mean they would be practicing extensively, but, for the now, they would only be in Jebsheim for so long, and there were things here that were nowhere near as common in other parts of the Empire, and certainly couldn't be bought in Dürrdürrwüste. It was many of these things the pilots would have sent to their homes. Later that evening, the two would be seen in Die Geldbörse des Ältesten, sober, as tomorrow would indeed be an early day for them, but still feasting and laughing in true Jebslunder style, chatting with friends among the staff, and generally enjoying themselves in a pre-nose-to-the-grindstone party.

Jebslund is a nation of kerbals ruled by Emperor Jebediah Kerman. We reject tyranny, believing that rights should be protected, though we also believe said rights end where the rights of others begin.
Shockingly, we *do* use NS stats, with the exception of lifespan.
Singular sapient: Jebslunder
Plural Sapient: Jebslunden
Singular/Plural nonsapient: Kermanic
Note: When a verb can logically only be done by the sapient using/piloting/holding the object in question, then the appropriate demonym for the number of sapients is used.

Capitalism, Socialism, and Communism are ECONOMIC SYSTEMS. Stop conflating them with political systems.

Foster Thrilled to Compete,
by Madison Daniels, Concord Heights Times Intern

Kristen Foster served in the Cassadagan Air Force for three years, beginning when she was just 18 years of age. After completing that, she moved into flying commercial aircraft, and has been a pilot for Dagan Airways now for eleven years. While she will never have the urge to race when flying passengers typically from Concord Heights to Grande Mountain, in her private time, she is part of a group of pilots who compete for fun.

“There is no official jet racing series in Cassadaigua, as you know. It doesn’t mean we don’t race, but there is simply no racing series,” Foster began as she mentioned her background to me, “There are contests around here and there, and I would participate in as many as I could fit in, and hopefully win some prize money. When NASJAR started last year, I was interested, as was the group of us that race against each other often, but we didn’t think we could get make it a reality.” Foster said she watched as the opening season of NASJAR, otherwise known as the Nationstates Association of Stock Jet Aircraft Racing, took place, and finished successfully. “We wanted to see that it could be a success, and after that, the idea was to present it to the Queen’s Sporting Committee to see if they would even sanction a race here."

The group of pilots that assembled all agreed that it should be Kristen who represents them, and Foster would slap the #27 on her plane, the number that Stacie Houston has made famous in NSSCRA as she recently completed her championship winning season.
It was the best number for us, glad it was available!” she told me. Foster said she was a little surprised by the quick response of the Queen’s Sporting Committee, “I thought it would take a while. That they would have to do all these studies and stuff. But they got back to me the next day and told me that they approved the course that were suggested for a competitive race. They will take the safety precautions from there.”

It will be a while before the series heads to Grande Air Course, which was a spot in the schedule as the next to last race before the chase begins. Because jet racing is not a thing in Cassadaigua, sources say that the committee will study how the other tracks sell tickets or otherwise immerse spectators, and they will respond accordingly. Foster is just happy to be a part of it. The exhibition race did not go as well as she would have liked, but she told us that everyone has to start somewhere.

Preparing for the next race

Kohan had been overworked lately, wanting to advance into the Chase Early in the season.
He told his mechanics what to do over the past 7 days.
The plane had a better ejection seat installed.
The News from home gave morale boosts.
The plane has been fine tuned.

Congratulations to Amy Ollmhór for winning the exhibition race! As there has been no points given, no standings table will be included in this post. I will also be putting a poll up on the discussion thread for how ties should be treated.

Next up is the first points race of the season, still in Jebsheim!

Silver Bay Herald, Internet Edition, published January 19th, 2019.

Ollmhór wins Exhibition Race!

Piteog third, Eitleoir sixth, Piteog seventh.

Jebsheim - In the starting exhibition race, the Selkie-Pilots made a good first showing, with Amy Ollmhór winning and throwing her hometown of Shella into a party frenzy. She was followed closely, 0.097 seconds, by Karim Maghamir from Kyrenaia and by Erblin Piteog (+0.237 seconds). Eitleoir came in sixth behind Harssen and Ghym, while Leathchúpla was behind her.
The fastest lap was Ollmhór's first lap with 06:02.912, the second-fastest by Harssen (06:02.955) and the third fastest by Eitleoir (06:02.968).
Although the exhibition races don't mean anything for the final standings, it is a good showcase of how much the pilots trained between the series, Ollmhór remarked in an interview - after she thanked her fellow competitors.
"I believe, that Amy should celebrate while she can.", Leathchúpla remarked with a grin, "Because next race, I'm going to win!"
The next race, the first non-exhibition one, again in Jebsheim, will be held at the 26th of January.
KIW, Peata.

Amy smiled as she looked at the little card.
The Admiral held a special place in the hearts of the Selkie-Pilots with NASJAR, some sort of honorary grandfather or Uncle or something, they weren't sure. But he held that place and (hopefully) knew that.
It didn't help, that Marla's Grandfather had flown against him a long time ago.
As it was, however, she was looking at the little card and thinking not about the old man, but about his granddaughter, who was around her own age (or at least she looked like that). In any case, she congratulated for the win, expressed condolences for the breakup and sent her a coupon for her grandmother's bakery.
And all of that in one message.
Credit where credit was due, that was wonderful. And nice.
She would make sure to use the coupon, that was for sure, she still had a week, after all. But before that... she smiled as she saw her bed, sweet and inviting to her slightly-tipsy mind, after all, she had celebrated her win!
She needed to remember to write a thank-you-card and to go there, she thought as she undressed and slipped under her covers.

Radri smiled and moaned deeply.
"Someone's enjoying himself!", Kiah spoke from behind him - Kiah Irisleabhar of the Tribe of Waterford, the Silver Bay Herald's Reporter with NASJAR 1 and now with NASJAR 2. Her hands were easing tensions out of her boyfriend's shoulders, seeing that the two of them were officially an item.
"I shouldn't.", Raidri let out. "I only came in seventh."
"And you still came in seventh of 21. Before any of the local pilots, before Ketschup und Sternenjäger, even.", she reminded him gently and hugged him from behind. She knew, that he had self-confidence issues. "I'm sure, that they're proud of you."
"Sure?"
"Completely.", Kiah said and hugged him closer. "In the meantime, you promised me something after each race..."
"Being a reporter makes the muscles tense up, too, eh?", Raidri asked and smiled as they changed positions. He had learned a few tricks from a Kyrenaian tellak, he would manage to give his girlfriend a massage.
He caught her look, though, stopping.
"Worrying about your boyfriend sitting on a big pile on fuel in a plane, that has been out of service for decades makes the muscles tense.", she whispered.
He hugged her from behind.

I play PT, MT and a bit FT. I am into character-RPs.
My people are called the Selkie, the nation is usually called the Free Lands in MT-settings. Thanks.

Karim let the water run over his back as he showered.
He was satisfied. Sure, second place was not winning, but second place with less the 0.1 seconds between him and first place (Amy Ollmhór, from the Free Lands, who had fuel tanks!) was not bad... it was bothersome, that he missed victory by such a small margin, but it was not bad.
Now, he let the hot water of the shower run over him.
Showers were rare in Kyrenaia, the People of the Five Deserts preferred their Hammam, steam baths, but Karim was a person, who enjoyed showering quite a lot - he often did, when he had the chance. The feeling was nice.
In the air, the feeling had been surprisingly un-nice.
His Vampire was maintained by the best mechanics available, checked by others, so whatever it was, it being the plane was unlikely. It had swerved. Not much, but Karim was sure, that it had.
And not in the normal way.
Maybe it had been the flimsy controls of the Vampire? Maybe it was only his nervousness? Maybe... NASJAR 1 had been marred by a saboteur. What if...?
What if he was actually just paranoid? That was most likely it.
With one hand, he turned off the shower and, dripping wet, stood there for a moment.
He would Das Flauschige Garfield today to celebrate with a confectionary. Yes, that sounded like a plan, which would distract him sufficiently from such bleak thoughts.

In another hotel room, Rasha was sitting on her bed in her underwear, her laptop on her knees. On it, The Little Desert Mouse was explaining jet racing and NASJAR to kids in Kyrenaia.
She grinned at which clips they used and which they didn't.
And she laughed at the sketches of the Little Desert Mouse in a cockpit, panicked until someone, from the off, explained which control in the aircraft did what, using her words. The panic began to subside, making the Little Desert Mouse soon enjoy a good flight.
And that was the point, she flew.
No one ever said anything about landing.
They even used clips from the interview to show the Mouse, what she was talking about, and other clips of NASJAR 1. She recognized Piteog's plane, as well as his mechanic, who were... in a similar situation, only in a more unconstrained country.
Kyrenaia was looking not too kindly on homosexuals - and Rasha was lesbian. Closeted, not even her parents knew of it, but she was.
Shaking her head, she turned back to her laptop's screen, where they were showing a number of aircraft over the Mianach - that would come, soon, too.
Thinking about it, the only thing she did not look forward to was Oea's Exhibition, a mock dogfight. She was not a combat pilot, she was Coast Guard.
But she would be fine, she thought as she smiled at another bit of misfortune of the little Mouse.
RPing in MT and PT.

Postby Vangaziland » Sat Jan 26, 2019 7:00 am

It was finally showtime when the pilots of NASJAR took to the sky for the exhibition round. The air racing spectacle was filled with lots of high flying action. Vannish pilots flew black and silver Saab 21R jets with the 1942-1958 VAF emblem on the side. The team has several sponsors, including REDUP Energy and Vannish Motors. The two royal Vangazi also invested in the team as pay drivers.

The team also represents the service, with three branches of the Imperial Military represented. Prince Fritz is a former Army infantry officer. Duke Harssen is a former F-16 pilot. The team's last two pilots are active duty qualified. They have been assigned to a demonstration flying role similar to those seen in military aerobatic teams.

This was racing though. It was not as coordinated as stunt flying. Planes were often flying just as close. There was no script. Augustus 'Pilgrim' Huskinson had the roughest race of the Vannish pilots. This came to the secret pleasure to many of his teammates. Reports leaked that Major Huskinson enjoys bragging about flying the most superior fighter of the team, in the air force.

Huskinson even teased Prince Fritz about being a cvilian pilot. "So, they let civilians fly, Your Majesty?" The Major had bonded with Prince Fritz by this point. The Prince often teased Huskinson back.

"Your plane can't be stealth with that big yapper of yours", Prince Vang told Maj. Huskinson in a documentary. Fritz also acheived the rank of Major in an army infantry unit. His only experience with military aircraft came in the form of guiding helicopter strikes in Al-Khalifiya. One of Prince Vang's best snapbacks to the fighter pilot came when he said, "the Vannish Air Force has a cush life because of living standards us royalty signed into place. Enjoy your 7:30 PT times", Fritz said while teasing Huskinson about how late the VAF starts their physical training. "The Army doesn't get that luxury."

Both pilots had nothing but respect for each other. It would be Fritz who had the better run at the Jebsheim Exhibition. Fritz was still getting used to racing with so many other pilots. This left him hesistant to make risky pass attempts. He spent much of his time regulating altitude. The planes flew over the course which seemed to lead from village to village. Sunlight glinted off the various shapes as they banked and swept across the sky.

Penalties hurt Maj. Huskinson in the air. At one point, he found himself in a duel to pass Flora Kerman. Pilgrim lined up on her wing as a corner came up. He planned to dive in on her and push hard low and inside. He could gain a great deal of speed and get past her. The problem was that the course straightened out over a village. The major had flown this turn many times and knew the village was there.

The speed penalty slipped his mind as he didn't just pull the fast dive. He punched up and out of it with enough speed to earn a hefty penalty. The move was exciting to watch for any onlookers that gathered in the village. His jet dove quite low to the ground before punching over the town at full throttle. The sound would definitely be louder than most of the aircraft overhead, which the penalty was likely aimed to prevent.

Maj. Huskinson rocked his wings as he climbed above and left the town. He realized his mistake after the fact. His radio was going off as his flight manager chastized him for the penalty. Pilgrim couldn't quite make up enough time to make up from this. He finished 16th, last of all Vangazi. Fritz ran a guarded line which saw him finish 9th. "A top ten finish is a great thing", said Prince Fritz. "Racing up there was the craziest thing I've ever done."

Duke Sven Harssen flew the best Vannish race. His line wasn't just clean, it was dialed in. The Duke's aircraft also seemed more efficient. It clearly put out more power than the other fighters, clocking in at higher top speeds. The race saw Sven make daring passes. His biggest move came against Maria Eitleoir.

The pair had been battling throughout the race. The Duke's knuckles would be white, if they weren't dark brown, because of how tight he gripped the jet's control. After speeding through a set of pylons, Sven took a set of turns tighter than Maria. As a straight came, he dove just off of her wing. He picked up speed, slowly gaining an advantage on her.

The Duke kept flying his line low. He couldn't see her, but trusted his line in the course. After a few turns, he banked and searched for her. She was just behind and above. With a punch to full throttle, he climbed with just enough room to push ahead of her. She was so close to him when he moved just underneath. He would have to fight to gain space through his line.

His battle with Maria pushed the Duke to a 5th place finish. "That was absolutely amazing", said Duke Harssen. "It's been so long since I really pushed a jet like this."

Imperial Vannish Navy Lieutenant Ananda "Mondo" Sturlasdotter finished 10th, directly behind Prince Fritz. One part of flying involves managing many radios. The planes had one radio just to coordinate with the tower. Another channel connected the Vannish pilots to their team manager. There was also a channel where the Vannish pilots could speak to each other. Switching between radios came easy to the trained fighter pilots. They also often listen to many stations in their work aircraft. Speaking between racecars on the same team may have been an uneasy thought. In the air, safety and communication were important to survival. They needed extra eyes to help each other properly visualize the field.

Fritz was still adapting. That didn't stop Lt. Mondo from adopting him in the air. Ananda saw Prince Fritz accidentally cut off Kohan the 10th. The plane was caught in the royal's blind spot. "Look out Fritz!" Mondo screamed over the network. The Prince rocked his wings and held his altitude. Kohan had to swerve in the air to streak past Fritz's side.

"Whoa", Fritz called out on the net. "Didn't see that one." He laughed nervously. Lt. Sturlasdotter likely felt even more nervous. Fritz was the heir to the Vannish throne. If anything happened to him, it would be on her watch. She stayed on his tail until she caught up. Fritz was really pushing through the sky. The female navy 0-3 called out several more risky situations until she stayed on Fritjof's tail. She flew a high defensive line to protect him from passing.

She could have passed Fritz several times, but was too worried to let him leave her watch. She knew she couldn't babysit him every race. Maybe Jebsheim would help him adjust. Ananda had heard about the Prince since they were both young. Fritjof's childhood was often televised and public as a young Imperial. She felt like she knew him all of her life. When he joined the military, it motivated her to finalize her decision to join the Navy. Now here he was. They spoke often. She knew he was taken. Ananda still couldn't help crushing on him just a little.

Maybe she didn't fly her fastest race. She still felt happy to sit and talk alongside Fritz afterwards. She blushed a little when she said, "You have to be careful up there, Your Majesty." Fritz just laughed in reply. The moment occurred between both pilots' interviews.

"No way", he said. "Wait until I figure out how to fly faster."

Ananda rolled her eyes in response.

Next up is Monarch City Raceway! Bring your A game, folks, because this one's an elimination race! Congratulations to Karim and Rasha for advancing to the Chase! It would seem, so far, that the preference is for the best fastest lap to break ties, so that's how ties will be settled going forward!

EDIT: When I was scorinating last night and moving the racers into order of finish, I mistakenly put a few of the racers in the wrong order. This has since been corrected.

EDIT: And then compounded it by transposing Dakov and Bluetarch...

By the moment, when the double-victory of the two Kyrenaian Coast Guard Pilots became knowledge in their homecountry, the entire NASJAR-Thing shot through the roof.
Before, their participation was mentioned in the sports-segment of newspapers and news TV-shows, but not with much attention.
Now, the two found themselves as headline news in the Utica Herald, including a photograph of them on the shoulders of their mechanics, being celebrated, celebrating their victories. They even made it into the Main Segment of the TV-news!
The death of Kohan V. recently overshadowed the celebrations a bit, the Kyrenaians sending messages of condolence to their fellow competitor.
But in the end, that was quickly forgotten, their double-victory in Jebsheim was too important, the alcoholic beverages flowed freely, the celebrations lasting well into the night. Tomorrow, they would have to pack up and leave for the Monarch City Raceway in the Newark Aristocracy, but that was for tomorrow to worry about.
The opening dance had been danced by the two pilots as well.
It also meant, that the two of them were now part of the Chase, led the field and would be in the majority of the spotlight... it would be fun!

A few days later, Karim stood in front of the hangar shared by the Kyrenaian pilots. He had familiarized himself with the course, he had even flown it a for a few laps.
Next to him, Rasha stood and in front of them, a TV-camera.
The interview was conducted by KBC, so it would be broadcasted over all Kyrenaian TV-stations.
"So, a few final words... what do you think will be your chances of winning here?", the reporter asked.
"Hm...", Rasha made, thinking.
"I would say, that our chances are good.", Karim provided with self-confidence. "Sure, the competition is stiff, and the course not easy, but our mechanics did awesome work so far and will continue to do so. I'd even go so far and say, that we did good work as well and we have no reason to stop that, right, Rasha?"
"Indeed.", the young woman replied with a smile.
"Then thank you for the interview, then. And good luck!", the reporter finished.
"Thank you and have fun!", the two pilots replied.

In Oea, the preparations for the race in mid-February were well underway.
Camera positions and positions for emergency services on standby were set up, a radar vessel of the Coast Guard would provide speed and course control. The Khana of Sheliak, who had her palace in Oea, had left the preparations to the specialists, mainly because she was the first one to admit, that she had no idea about what she would be doing.
She was only the patron.
Her little ward and her classmates were almost exploding with excitement - and if the Khana was honest, she looked forward both to the Demonstration and to the race itself.
RPing in MT and PT.

Piteog third in Jebsheim

At NASJAR 2's first race, Pitéog claimed third place behind Maghamir and Ghym, Ollmhór only comes in fifth, Eitleoir seventh and Leathchúpla ninth.

Jebsheim - After a tight race between places three and eleven, the final results show, that . Comparatively cosy, the first two places, Kyrenaia's Karim Maghamir and Rasha Ghym, came over the finish lines, Maghamir 0.235 seconds before the third placed Pitéog, Pitéog himself 0.592 seconds faster then the eleventh placed Augustus "Pilgrim" Huskinson from Vangaziland.
On his social media account, Piteog's Head Mechanic expressed the congratulations of both himself and the pilot and summarized a major part of the race by the words: "Erblin and you duked this out like starving cats!" directed at Fritz Vang. The two pilots, in the end only 0.019 seconds apart, indeed flew and fought like starving cats over a dead carcass, their duel in the skies spiking at Round Two, when Vang was 0.05 seconds faster then Pitéog.
The fastest two laps were flown by Ollmhór, 06:02.637 and 06:02.680. In an interview with the Herald, she admitted, that her lackluster final result, fifth place, was mostly due to her lackluster fourth round, which she finished with 06:04.561. "I was thrown out of that turn by my own carelessness, which cost me the race. It goes to show, that I still have much to learn." She added congratulations to Vang, who she was fighting in the skies in the round before.
Eitleoir and Leathchúpla, who, together with Sven "Popeye" Harssen formed a block 0.043 seconds apart, commented, that they look forward to another fun race like that.
The local heroes from Jebslund performed badly again as well, with Derpol on ten behind Leathchúpla.
In the overall standings, Maghamir and Ghym advanced to the Chase, leading the table in front of Piteog, Ollmhór on five, Eitleoir on seven, Leathchúpla on nine.
KIW, Peata.

The four Selkie-pilots were a sworn-in community within a tightly knit group.
So, when one of them performed well, they celebrated together - even if the rest of the group had performed not so well. From Raidri's ninth to Erblin's third was quite a jump, but they were all still in the race and, if one asked them, that was a good start.
Sadly, they couldn't cut loose, they would move to Monarch City on the next morning, but that did not stop them from sharing a glass between each other and their ground crews.
It was Raidri, who had the toast: "To victory - better then third place, but out of reach this time!"
"Slan!", came the reply as one.
Next time, one of them would win.
Chatting soon erupted, the mechanics socializing, the pilots laughing amongst themselves as Erblin and Sirlam reenacted the final fight between Erblin, Vang and Amy. It was as glorious as it was hilarious.
Amy watched closely - those were mistakes, which she would have to avoid next time.
Out of reflex, she had still searched for one name on the final standings, which had been startingly low: Dakov Weimar, her ex-boyfriend, who had finished 17th. It had not filled her with joy, on the contrary.
It was... weird, if one asked her.
Well, at least Kendra doesn't have to report anything on that front this time!, she thought and concentrated on the reenactment of the spectacle.
A day later, she received a very sweet message on her PiffleNet Account, from a fellow competitor - if he tried any advances, she would have to let him down, though.
Gently, of course.
I play PT, MT and a bit FT. I am into character-RPs.
My people are called the Selkie, the nation is usually called the Free Lands in MT-settings. Thanks.

Monarch City, Newark Aristocracy. Kohan had slept in his plane's cockpit the last 6 nights in a row. Back when he was in the National Jet Racing Series,he ran this course a lot, winning him several championships in the National Series.
He was going to have to adapt to going against professionals. He practiced for 6 hours , anticipating the race.

The Jebsheim Experience turned out to be another closely fought race. A look at lap times wouldn't tell the full story of this complex event. Each lap saw different planes bound and leap in front of others at different parts of the course. A gigantic fur ball of classic jets drifted across the winding course.

Major Huskinson put up a fast early race. The YF-23 pilot known as Pilgrim streaked past many of his competitors. He was the lead Vannish aircraft for the first 35% of the race. Mondo Sturlasdotter was a few spots behind him in these early stages. Huskinson tried improving his lines, running steady times until the halfway point approached. Just before the strike of the midpoint, a buzzer sounded in his cockpit.

"I'm losing power", Huskinson said over the pilot's private channel. Unlike Vannish race cars, the aircraft's radio channels were encrypted. Fans would not be privy to the story in the sky. Aircraft always had more of a mystery about them than cars, even racers. With only one engine, a power issue was a life threatening problem. Luckily, the engine only lost about 11% efficiency.

The Major fought to stay in the race, but couldn't max out on the straightaways. He tried making up time over the villages, but couldn't afford a penalty like he picked up in the exhibition. Huskinson salvaged what he could with an 11th place finish.

Duke Sven Harssen finished close ahead of Pilgrim at 8th. The Duke's best laps also came in the first third of the race. The black and silver Saab chassis fought their way near the front of the pack. The problem was that the group of fast aircraft was constantly changing. Even when running fast, it was a constant battle to re-pass each aircraft before the next lap was counted. Onlookers on the ground saw the jets as bright shapes in the low sky, sun glinting off their frames. The planes looked like a school of silver fish banking, rolling and streaking across the sky.

Towards the end of the race, the Duke found it hard to catch up to the lead pack. Sven could see two Vangazi fighting further ahead. He could also hear Mondo's frenzied radio calls. A part of her wanted to talk to the Duke about his cousin. Fritz was taking too many risks. She felt it wasn't her place to talk about royalty behind their back, even with good intentions.

Instead Ananda resumed her role of following Prince Fritz. She didn't start out to fly this way. Early in the race, her fighter flew ahead with Fritz two spots back. Lt. Sturlasdotter was catching up to a faster pack of aircraft. If she kept pushing on their lead, she might run to a top three finish. Then she heard Duke Harssen call to Prince Vang over the radio.

"Holy heck, Your Highness... Pull up!" Harssen called out to Fritz over the team radio. The group was passing through a set of pylons. This meant the planes had to be at a certain height. Fritz was a little high and had to drop altitude. He did so suddenly, his fighter breaking upwards after coming perilously close to the ground.

Fritz was racing Amy Ollmhórat this time. The dive put Fritz in Amy's blindspot. He rolled the fighter on its side and climbed upwards into a turn. Amy banked her fighter to make the turn, but Fritz cut off her radius with a tighter exit angle. The two fighters streaked down the next set of twisting curves as Fritz started to pull away.

From ahead, Mondo banked around a corner and turned back to watch Fritz. She saw him pop up underneath Ollmhór for a risky pass. Mondo saw Fritz streaking towards her own aircraft. "Not again, Fritz", said Lt. Sturlasdotter. "The throne is on the line."

The Vannish Prince chuckled over the headset. He didn't seem worried. "I'm coming for you too, Mondo", Fritz told her. The Navy pilot tried her best to keep space from Fritz. Over time he caught up. The slower zones over the villages helped him keep up. Fritz had been silent over the radio. At one point, Mondo banked her Saab around a tight turn. Her view was suddenly blocked when Fritz's fighter appeared feet in front of her.

Fritz only passed by in a moment of sprinting. The silver underside of his fighter reflected ambient sunlight into Mondo's cabin while Fritz cut her off in time for the next turn.

"Why didn't you call that out, Popeye?" Mondo called out to the Duke aggresively on the net. She didn't want to be in a close call with the Prince. Video footage would show how near the two fighters actually came. The announcers broadcasting the race in Vangaziland spoke in ways to make each maneuver seem more dramatic.

"My, oh my", said the Vannish announcer. "Prince Vang puts it all on the line as he speeds past Sturlasdotter's Saab. He is flying with reckless abandon. What a spectacle!"

"I was too far behind to see that", the Duke replied to Mondo's call. He wasn't going to ruin Prince Vang's pass. Besides. He thought it was funny. Duke Sven had trained Duke in that aircraft. He knew the Prince's limits. Fritz was definitely taking more chances than he needed to. It did make for a good show. He laughed to himself as he made sure his radio was not transmitting. "Freakin' army guys", he said to himself as he banked his fighter into a winding turn.

The Navy 0-3 tried to keep up with Fritz, but he started to pull away. Amy Ollmhór separated Ananda from her Prince. She watched nervously as Fritz passed other fighters that fell back. The fighter Fritz couldn't catch was Erblin Piteog's.

Ananda started to get nervous when she saw Fritz move into Erblin's blind spot. "Sir, don't do it", Mondo called out. "They've lost visual."

"They know I'm here", Fritz said. As they made the slight turn, Fritz tried to cut on the inside line of the fighter. The problem was that altitude and line were important. Fritz was also running close in an attempt to not be seen. He wanted surprise on his side when he made passes. Ananda thought of how suddenly Fritz appeared in front of her when he passed her. She almost didn't have time to react

Fritz wasn't a fighter pilot by trade. he didn't seem to understand that there was no stopping these things. Every time he cut off other racers, he was taking a major risk. As Fritz tried for one last lap pass on Erblin, the fighter turned to cut Fritz off.

"Oh S---*", Fritz said as he jerked the stick hard in the other direction. He lost a little speed, letting Amy get dangerously close. "Man, I can't shake this fighter", Fritz said once he straightened out. "Who IS that behind me?"

Mondo told Fritz it was Amy. The Vannish Prince was impressed. Fritz finished the race in 4th. Mondo was close behind at 6th. She took the role of protecting the Prince seriously. Every Vannish sailor, soldier or marine was sworn to protect 'Empire & Countrymen'. She had to make the protection of the future Imperial Line her priority.

She sighed a huge breath of relief as she watched Fritz cross the finish line.

"You've got to loosen up, Mondo", Fritz told her over the radio with a laugh.

"You're taking years off my life, Your Highness." Fritz had told her to stop calling him that. She did it just to annoy him this time. As soon as he heard that, Fritz twisted his stick to the side to roll the fighter into a tight spiral of a barrel roll. The planes were still moving over the village after the race's end at the time. Onlookers below saw the menacing black and silver jet twist above their heads.

"This is what happens when you put an amateur in a fighter", the Duke transmitted after watching the roll. Sven, Mondo and Pilgrim were all fighter pilots, though the Duke left the air force.

Fritz couldn't help but celebrate. The other pilots could hear his smile over the radio. "How does my exhaust taste back there, Duke Harssen?"

"Wiseass", said the Duke. Mondo caught up to Fritz and ran to his right and above. Duke Sven sped ahead of Fritz to his left and sank just below. The pilots announced what they were doing by calling for the impromptu echelon formation. Huskinson caught up some time later and rode directly behind Fritz.

Sven and Fritz worked together to lead the fighters from village to village in a team lap. The pilots set their speed and flew a wide route before heading back to the runway. "I think I'm really figuring this out", said Prince Fritz in his post race interview. "I've been flying since I was 16. This has been an entirely new experience for me. It's exciting. Electrifying. Addictive. The team is great. We all look out for each other in the air."

Mondo seemed slightly anxious as she left her jet. The safety of the Prince was on her mind. How could she help him be more careful? The Duke didn't seem to be of any help. She watched as the two Royals threw playful punches at half-speed between each other on the way from the hangar to the lounge.

"Reaching for the top five is a goal for every race week", Ananda told reporters. "We didn't quite get there, but we earned decent points." She didn't mention any of her concerns about Prince Fritz. A slight look of worry could be seen if viewers looked close enough.

Ananda wasn't the only person worried about Fritz. His girlfriend, Chancellor Schulte of Europa, was quite surprised by Fritjof's aerial antics in his first race. Fritz seemed to have convinced her the event would be much safer than it was. She let him have it when they next spoke. Fritz tried to tell her it looked more dangerous on TV. Linda knew what she saw though.

Mondo wasn't privvy to Fritz and Linda's conversations. Ananda still took responsibility to bring Fritjof back for Linda every race. Risky moves were one thing. She couldn't let other planes get caught in Fritjof's blind spot again. That incident in the exhibition race still stuck in the navy pilot's mind.

Scenes of the high flying pilots enthralled a thirsty Vannish audience. The Jebsheim Experience pulled broadcast numbers similar to an International Basketball Championships playoff game. The Empire was watching Prince Vang, the Duke and the active duty pilots race against the Multiverse.

Results are up!, standings will be posted tomorrow, when I'm more awake and in a better frame of mind to double-check things. Don't want to eliminate the wrong competitors.

Standings have been posted. Bluetarch is technically a sub for Kohan, so, while Kohan didn't benefit from his placement in the last race, Bluetarch hasn't been eliminated. The Marès twins and Arnbjorn Hjolfson are therefore the first three pilots eliminated from NASJAR 2. The next race is A Race Against Winter! Bring your A-game, as the top finisher and the top in the standings (excluding those already qualified) will advance to the Chase!

Silver Bay Herald, Internet Edition, published February 10th, 2019.

Ollmhor aces Monarch City!

Piteog second, Eitleoir on eight, Leathchúpla on ten. Jebslunden Pilots falling further behind.

Monarch City - In a stunning race, Ollmhor won in Monarch City, with a lead of 0.201 seconds on Pietog and 0.427 seconds on Maghamir. Eitleoir came in ranked eight, Leathchúpla on ten. The fastest lap was flown by Ollmhor, 13:47.963 in her fourth.
However, the race was not a start-finish victory, but fought over like a carcass is fought over by starving Grey Wolves, with Prince Fritjof leading at first, then being overtaken. Intricate dances in the air allowed the pilots to less rely on their machines and more on their own skills.
As things got hectic in the sky, Leathchúpla flew a good race until lap five, when he was "carried out of a turn after a daring manoeuvre, that didn't go quite as planned.", as he explained after the race. "It was better then crashing."
Both Ollmhor and Piteog had terrible first laps, but fought forward and into the finish to well deserved victory and second place. While Piteog was not available to comment, Ollmhor announced over her PiffleNet Account, that she thanked her fellow competitors, including Prince Fritjof.
Continuing to be a conundrum are the Jebslunden-pilots, who continue to perform badly. Acht, as best Jebs-Pilot, came in two places behind Leathchúpla, Kohan the X. between them. None of them, so far, were available for interviews.
For the standings, this means Maghamir's lead on Piteog, who ascended from three to two, shrunk to a mere single point, while Ollmhor jumped to three. Ghym fell to position six. Hjolfson and the Mares-siblings were sent home.
The next race is in the Frozen Forest, a Race against Winter.
KIW, Peata.

Amy grinned at her crew.
"Biggest thanks to you.", she said and raised her glass. "To the best ground in the world!"
"Oh, shucks, you're making us blush!", the head mechanic replied and caused a round of laughter. "But seriously, that was a lot of your own work, too, me lassie."
"Hear, hear!", the ground crew replied with cheers.
Erblin's lads and lassies, first of all of course Sirlam, were present as well, soon beginning to chat.
The race was done, the evening was for celebration - and a win and a second place was not bad.
Neither Marla nor Raidri nor anyone from their ground crews were present. Their showing today, Kendra had not written that into her article for the Herald, had been miserable.
Unconcentrated and unfocused.
Raidri's daring manoeuvre? Amy, compared to either of the other three still a bloody amateur, would not have dared that one! It had been stupid and a danger! He would be lucky if no one would complain about it to the rule-makers!
And Marla... She had fought tooth and nail, but to no avail.
Ollmhor, meanwhile, did something with Erblin and Sirlam, which many men would have envied them for: She gave either a bone-crushing hug. As both of them batted for the other team together, they were laughing, happy and drinking.

Marla held the phone in her hand, bloodshot eyes looking at the screen, but not seeing it.
She was a failure. She stood on a generous eight, and that only because the Jebs got the flu or something as they were underperforming. Otherwise, she would be on eight.
She awaited her Grandfather's call.
Every time she waited like this, she expected a tirade from the old Navy Fighter Pilot, but that never came to pass. He was understanding and nice, never judged her by the placing or the standings... but she always felt, as if she was disappointing him constantly.
And that gnawed in her.
So, she laid there, nothing on her but a blanket covering her.
Her barest state of being, where she could be most honest... at least with herself. Her ground crew was not wallowing in self-pity, she heard them from the hotel's bar, as they introduced the place to Selkie-Partying.
And then, her phone rang.
Gramps, the screen told her.
Marla let it ring once, twice, thrice... and during the fourth ring, she clicked it off, rolling up in a ball.
I play PT, MT and a bit FT. I am into character-RPs.
My people are called the Selkie, the nation is usually called the Free Lands in MT-settings. Thanks.
