Spice Go 2-0

The man of the match for Jhalpharezi was Parth Vivekananda. He wears the number 20 on his green, white and orange striped uniform. He would have the best game of his international career. He put forth a big day on the bats. The All Rounder tallied 62 runs. His impact on the field was major.

"There is a lot of pressure on Jhalpharezi", Vivekananda said after the match. "Myself and a few others have decided that we will step up and do what it takes. There is a lot of excitement across India about this tournament. Expect the Spice to keep things interesting."

The National Cricket Team of Jhalpharezi has been nicknamed 'The Spice'. Unofficial team logos show a curved pepper with fists and boots at the end of skinny black arms and legs.

Vikrant Azam was Jhalpharezi's most effective bowler. He gave up only 15 runs. "It felt great to make such an impact", he said. "I look forward to playing some of the top teams."

Manager Indranil Barkat was pleased with his team. "We've got a great bunch of guys", said the older man with silver hair. "The entire region of Indian can be proud to see what our athletes can do. One day we need to break into other international T20 tournaments"

Upper Calcutta Eleven

Shamik Haranovash
Anand Vizenogoff
Bhimkar Khujepai (C)
Afdul Zakhi (WK)
Dinesh Venkatson
Kinkardas Chaturvedi
Lee Hoshen
Kikhai Janina
Hiren LaBurmaine
Ramanpreet Nicaragua
Robbie Dylan-Chaudhury

The team has been training for last four months. Captain Khujepai, 29 years old is in great shape. Khujepai is also a two time gold medalist in swimming in the Upper Calcutta national games. Hiren LaBurmaine, the mighty off spinner recovered from an elbow injury recently. Lee Hoshen and Ramanpreet, the youngest of the squad at 17 and 16 respectively, are set to take on their first international tournament

Coach Dennis Dutta was quoted by a newspaper saying, "We run a tight ship on this team. We haven't won an international tournament before but we're seeing a lot of promise this year. Let's hope for the best."

Twitter was abuzz with UC cricket fans in their yellow and black jerseys posting photos in various stadiums around India. Back in Darjeeling, the game stadium has been sold out for the entire season.

In other news, Deputy Coach Rigen Jantamna was deported back to UC after failing security at a foreign airport. It was probably marijuana.

Team Upper Calcutta are training harder than ever before. Things are looking up. The weather is fantastic. The next match between UC and Awell Islands decides what happens with the contenders in group 2, currently the most interesting group in the tournament.

Whichever team wins among group 2 would also have to face two of the other top teams that are both undefeated in this tournament.

Upper Calcuttans are hoping the transitive property works in sports as in physics.

DravidaNata celebrate their first win

It was DravidNata's day at the Iron Arena in the matchday 3 of the All India Cricket Blast Season 2. They dominated the match from the start in all departments of the game to record an easy eight wicket win against South Bhoom.

Put into bat earlier, South BhoomBhom scored 117 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing five wickets. Chasing the target, Nutan Kaimal combined with Captain Ashok Varier steered Dravida Nata to victory with 24 balls to spare.

Head coach Akash Rayudu praised the team for clinical effort - "The bowlers did a great job. The way the openers, Anirudh and Vishal started, and after that the partnership between Nutan Kaimal and Captain Ashok, that was good cricket"

Speaking on the first match, the coach said - "The first game against Jhalpharezi was tough for us. They played really well. When we came here, we were very inexperienced on international stage but we are confident. That loss is good lesson for us"

Trieland playing XI

Sharma
Dhawan
Virat
Yuvi
Dhoni (C)(Wk)
Raina
Pandya
Bhuvi
Bumrah
Chahal
Yadav

Trieland has been training really hard to get back the momentum the team lost after the defeat to Awell island.

The top order of Sharma, Dhawan and Virat are in great touch and a lot of batting depends on them. Yuvi, Dhoni, Pandya are among the big hitters.
The spin twins Kuldeep and Chahal display exceptional bowling partnership similar to the pacers Bhuvi and Bumrah. Raina and Pandya act as the 5th bowler.
The fielding has been exceptional with Raina, Kohli and Yuvi leading the way. Wicketkeeper Captain Dhoni has been the best wicketkeeper in the tournament so far.

Tensions were high in the locker room for the Jhalpharezi Spice. The team just suffered a tough loss to South Bhoom. Batsmen and bowlers argued with one another about the reason for the loss. Some of the team's biggest stars were going after one another in angry bickering. South Bhoom had only 2 losses going into the match. Jhalpharezi was undefeated. It was a major upset for the team of Jhal.

"Are you joking me, you gave up 52 runs? To this team?" Harsha Datta was seen as one of the best pure batsmen on the Spice. He was shouting at bowler Ragoba Thakur while approaching his locker.

"Datta, I don't have time for your crap", Thakur was wrapped in a towel after showering. "Let me get dressed first, before you blame everything on me."

Datta kept yelling. "Listen. Tighten up next game. Your play was sloppy. The nation's stake is on the line."

"Calm down, Harsha", said batsman Nick Belyan. "Fighting is not good for the team. Besides. You have not hit many runs this season, Harsha. But that is not your fault. Let's all get better."

"Just play smarter", Datta continued. He left angrily back to his locker in a huff.

Thakur turned to Belyan and winked. In a low voice, Thakur said, "It's okay. Harsha is just mad because his girlfriend left him." A few nearby players laughed. Datta turned around quickly to see what this laughter was about. It made the others quiet down. Megh Naidu walked away nervously after laughing the loudest.

WIN!!
The bowlers of Trieland did a commendable job by restricting the opposition to 91 after a rather mediocre performance by the batting department to get us over the line. Looking forward to the last match of our Group.

Due to all teams obtaining 6 points in Group 2, a tiebreaker which will be called the "Projected Victory Margin Method" has been introduced. It works by taking the number of runs that a team obtained in both of their victories, calculating their projected score if they had the full 20 overs/10 wickets if they were the team to bat second, then dividing the results by 2 to find out what their average victory margin would be if every team had the full 20 overs/10 wickets.

Results:
Q Upper Calcutta (79)
Q Awell Islands (59)

N Trieland (53)

Group 3 Result:
Dravida Nata 187/5 (20 overs)

News from Jhalpharezi about the All India Cricket Blast was met with mixed reviews. Many people across India expected the Spice to do well. Their season has been worse than they expected with two losses. Jhalpharezi only put up a +14 point differential. They allowed 541 runs, which is below most teams. They only scored 555 runs.

The lack of offense has hurt Jhalpharezi in the second season of the AICB. In their latest defeat, the Jhal only totaled 115 runs. It was a dismal performance which saw Spice players frustrated. There was yet another locker room altercation. After a loss to South Bhoom, words were exchanged between Harsha Datta and Ragoba Thakur.

This time things got physical. Harsha walked up to Thakur after the game and threw three punches at Thakur's face. Two punches connected. The third was blocked. This is when Thakur let a low sweeping kick fly, knocking Datta off balance. The fight was broken up at this point.

"Harsha punches like he bats", said Thakur. "Soft."

The team hopes to come together in the second round. Jhalpharezi sits at the bottom of Group 2 as the 2nd best runner up. Datta will be suspended for the first game. "I just want to help my team", said Harsha Datta. "I'm sorry for my actions."
