What Have We Missed?
http://www.XCAAgoblog.com

Unfortunately we were unable to cover week two here at XCAAgoblog, but let it be know we still have opinions!

XPI 30–23 DAM - Well here we are, XPI in a nail biter. Remember back when they were in the XCAA and lost by 5 or fewer points 4 times in 6 weeks? Well looks like those days are over. XPI held on after a blustery first half where they scored 27 of their 30 points If it wasn't for a Davey Cook 42 yard kick in the early 4th it may have gone completely different for Big Blue. XPI was still fairly fluid on the ground as Reynolds once again lead the Blue in rushing with 201 yards and one TD, FB Dik Vanderbilt scored on two 3 yard scores and had 88 yards on only 10 carries, and QB Terrence white ran 19 times for 68 yard and completed two of his passes for 38 yards. Meanwhile the stingy defence looked good....for one half but in the end the QB for Damushuto started getting in a rhythm and in the end a Blair Tunning game sealing INT saved the Big Blue from a loss

TEAM 1 2 3 4 FINAL
XPI 17 10 0 3 30
DAM 6 0 10 7 23

DAU 38–0 AEM - Not much to say here the Explorers bombed Avalon and continued till the time ran out.Although he was rested after only 3.5 quarters, Austin WIllis balled out. He complete 41 passes in 68 attempts and 497 yards, he threw 2 tds, but there were also 2 INTs. Running was once again (surprisingly) used, when Lay Tennbar had 11 runs for 56 yrds and surprisingly 2 tds. Alex Barstow got the big numbers on the other side of WIllis, with 11 catches. Those 11 catches resulted in 2 tds and 217 yards. The XPI defense smothered Avalon as they forced two fumbles, and picked off two different QBs a combined 4 times, 3ints coming from DB Frankie Valone. Valone took one of them a school record 98 yards.

TEAM 1 2 3 4 Final
DAU 14 10 14 0 38
AEM 0 0 0 0 0

PART 2

XPI 26-6 PVR - Well that was an odd game. Romeo Reynolds rushed for what would have been the third greatest total by an RB had this been an XCAA game, but the Big Blue scored only 26 points in a blowout. There's a lot to take in here but let's try to give it to you straight. As anemic as Portvestir offense looked, their goaline defense looked great, holding the Big Blue to 4 field goals on 5 attempts. On the other hand Romeo Reynolds and Jamie Lawrence combined for 502 yards rushing (Reynolds with an insane 379 yards 2tds and Lawrence with 125 plus the rest of the team getting in on the act.) But once the Big Blue got down in the Portvestir red zone thing just stopped. But again this was Portvestir and we're talking about one of the most anemic looking offenses in NSCF. So several quick 3 and outs allowed the ball control Big Blue to carve up the field. Meanwhile another person who feasted on Portvestir's bad offense was Serge Vivek. The LB again had a monster game with two fumble recoveries and 4 sacks. But that's potatoes as the next game is DAU vs XPI the X Bowl and we'll see where the cream really rises!

TEAM 1 2 3 4 FINAL
XPI 6 7 10 3 26
PVR 0 0 0 6 6

DAU 27-17 DAM - Speaking of anemic offenses none of them looked anything special here. The usually scary Explorers offense looked mediocre, the defense bailed them out and Damushuto looked like a 2nd half team. Austin Willis went 12-30 before getting hurt with an ankle sprain in the early 3 quarter, his backup Wayne Murray was about the same going 11-25. Overall they combined for 1td (Murray) and 4ints. But Defense players like John Hunter (3 scks 1 FF) and Todd beck (1sck 8tkls) balled out and kept Damushito to only 17 points. There was also Lay Tennbar he ran for 42 yards but a late 4th qtr Punt return is what many say sealed the deal for DAU as he returned it 52 yards for a TD the first special teams TD for DAU all year. DAU is undefeated but a sloppy game with a back-up QB could spell doom for them coming into the all Xannerian shootout next week.

(Murray will Start next week versus XPI)

Tucker Wolfe; The Path of Icarus: Chapter 2

Wolfe took a deep breath as he lined up. They were just in helmets, no pads, but it was his first snap since tearing his shoulder in his first game as a high school player after having beaten out the junior starter of the previous year. And their coach had talked to the two, letting them know that Wolfe wouldn’t be handed the staring job.

He’d have to take it. And rightfully so. The other quarterback, now a senior, had tossed for twenty three hundred yards and twenty two touchdowns to thirteen picks, leading them to a 7-3 record and just missing the playoffs.

So he took a moment before calling the cadence, and delivered a strike to his receiver in under two seconds. The pass was incomplete, bouncing off the second-stringer’s hands, but it was on target, just a little fast.

After that, he got into a groove, hitting everything he looked at and getting through the practice looking great...until the end. Their coach got the two together, and have them the team’s best two receivers. It was, very simply, one on ones, as one guy got one wideout, covered by one corner, on a deep route.

The first attempt by his competition was picked off, the pass long enough at forty yards but off target, but Wolfe had a different problem. The ball was on line, or appeared to be, but it hit the dirt far too soon, traveling only thirty five yards in the air. The guys laughed it off, said he was just knocking off rust, but when it happened a second time, this time at the thirty two yard line, Wolfe started to feel the pressure. They were both 0-2, but Wolfe knew, even as their current starter tossed another errant throw, that he needed to hit one. So, rather than wait for his guy to get super deep, he threw it early, a floater that hit him right over the shoulder at twenty nine yards, and, with how far he ran afterwards, it made the pass look a lot longer than it was.

Wolfe sighed, shaking his arm a bit. His deep ball wasn’t back yet. But he might just have a bit more in him.
[hr[/hr]

By the end of camp, he’d won the job back, shredding their defense, and opponents in scrimmages, with quick passes, but his coach had given him a talking to about his hesitation on throwing the ball deep, somewhat unaware of why the hesitation was there. The awareness, though, and accuracy, in general, had been enough to get it back.

And hell if would let anyone take that away from him.

Cold Hill Buffalo vs New Telford State
In a less than shocking development, the Cold Hill Buffalo once again ran through a conference opponent, scoring five touchdowns, a field goal, and a safety by pass rusher Charles Foreman, who had four tackles and a sack along with it on the day.

Frankly, the game started fast, with New Telford State managing to score ten in the first quarter while Cold Hill racked up a pair of passing touchdowns, but after that the rival school just couldn't keep up, the score going up to 21-13 in the second, 31-16 in the third, and finally 40-16 in the fourth quarter of a game that looked like it could result in a massive upset in the Big 8 Conference, if only for a moment.

Thorn Davis once again shone, tossing three touchdown passes and racking up 297 passing yards. He did throw an interception as well in the first half, but his 45 yards on the ground more than made up for that. The quarterback has been shredding the NSCF this season, and has, to this point, posted a 10-2 touchdown to interception ratio through three games, racking up a stunning thousand yards in the air through that span.

Meanwhile, runner Hue Ross, who took over in the late stages, tallied a team-carring 31 carries, averaging 6.0 yards per attempt to get up to a career high 125 yards on the ground, hammering in a touchdown in the fourth quarter as well. The team's receiving and third down back, Caleb Katterfield, also managed to tally 60 yards on the ground on 12 carries for an impressive mark of 5 yards per tote, contributing 45 yards through the air as well.

Overall, it was another steamrolling win in what seems to be a less-than competitive Big 8 conference this year. Storylines to follow, however, include Thorn Davis chasing the Most Outstanding Player Award, although it will be tough to secure based on the level of competition that he's facing right now, and Earnest Longhorn's 7.5 sacks through three games.

Richardson University @ Tecumseh University

The Governors, coming off of a tough, emotional loss, nearly coughed one up on the road. The team managed to score only one touchdown, a rainbow from McNair to Kiean Kweo-Atkison, as Tecumseh's defensive front, namely outside backers George Ross and inside linebacker Julian Cole, making quick work of Richardson's offensive line, weaker this year than in seasons past. Despite that, running backs Elijah Sampson and Benjamin Morgan combined to force three missed tackles on a combined 20 carries, forcing QB Alton McNair, who got the start this week after nearly leading a comeback against Cold Hill, to carry the load on offense. Atkison, notably, carried the offense with a dozen receptions for 172 yards and the game's only score for Richardson.

McNair actually impressed in this one in terms of yardage totals, tossing up 317 passing yards on 38 attempts, but he also threw a pair of costly interceptions in the red zone, an area of the field that Richardson was putrid in this week, managing 2 field goals, 2 turnovers, and one failed 4th down run. Richard Steinheil said that the quarterback was on thin ice, and that while he'd likely be the starter next week, nothing was guaranteed.

The defense, however, continued to shine, forcing four turnovers in the contest, two of those coming in the fourth quarter, and Banijan Isaiah Bryce, a stud for the Governors from day one, made a clutch third down sack that forced a field goal in the second. This isn't one that we thought would be this close, but this Raiders squad, 2-1 now, is showing that it's got the guts, and the talent, to compete in the NSCF, and an upset for a Big 8 championship isn't totally out of the picture here.

But despite that, the Governors now sit at 2-1, just one game behind Cold Hill, and if they can win out, the conference could still be theirs, depending on how the season goes down.

Alton McNair Lights up People's Isle in Win. Performance Good Enough to Keep the Starting Job...For Now

People's Isle was never able to look competitive against a Richardson squad that knew they couldn't afford to lose another game at this point in the season. They came out like a cannonball, with Alton McNair tossing a pair touchdown passes, and running in another, without turning over the football in the contest. He did all of that in two and a half quarters, despite a running game that was putrid for the second straight week, with Benjamin Morgan and Elijah Sampson totaling 74 yards on the ground, but once Richard Steinheil elected to pull his starting quarterback in favor of seeing Ifeatu Chineze under center, and those two backs for Vice Jackson III.

In the final quarter and a half of that one, the lead stretched from 24-0 to 44-10, with Vice Jackson piling up sixty seven yards on sixteen carries, both season-high marks that eclipsed his previous season totals, and Chineze playing his way to a 150 yard outing with a pair of scores, and leading two more field goal drives to end it. Chineze, in particular, looked much more aware on the field than in the past, seeming to know where his man was on every throw, and was much better at going through his progressions.

It was never a very close game, but it is one more in which Richard Steinheil was, at least, able to get a glimpse of more than just his starting quarterback. After the game, when questioned about the quarterback situation, he said, "I'm not making any changes right now. Tucker Wolfe's confidence has to improve for him to get a shot at the lineup again, and Chineze's still got to fight his way up to start if he's going to unseat Alton. The kid's been playing solid football, there's no reason for me to sit him on the bench right now."

Run-Heavy Outing Against Tecumseh sees Thorn Davis With Season Low, Hue Ross with Season-High, Numbers

Tecumseh has now, twice in a row, held Ranorian schools to 16 points, an impressive feat by any metric. But The Buffalo did neglect to throw the ball as much as they have the past three weeks in this one, with Thorn Davis seeing a season-low 26 passing attempts while running backs Hue Ross and Caleb Katterfield carried the ball 33 and 15 times, respectively, with their quarterback throwing in five runs of his own.

The game saw two touchdowns scored, one a play action in a two back set that saw Hue Ross fake a handoff before Davis tossed it to Katterfield, who was running a flat. Katterfield managed to use his speed and agility, however, to take the dump-off for forty yards. The other score came on a dive from Hue Ross on the goal line, and the Buffalo also went for two points on both scores.

Tecumseh University's offense struggled with the speed of Cold Hill's opposing unit, but the only big play that was made on that side of the ball was a third-quarter sack by DeAngelo Gordon, as the Raiders managed to move the ball throughout the game, but just couldn't quite get on the board, for some reason.

Regardless of the low numbers on offense, which regularly sputtered out in this one, a win is a win, and the Buffalo are now 4-0 against NSCF competition this season, even if Thorn Davis only managed to put up 217 passing yards.

Week 4 Tecumseh University @ Cold Hill University

Postby One Jamaica » Fri Oct 05, 2018 2:52 pm

What was anticipated to be an exciting and close game, expectations fell short for Tecumseh University in the second half to drop their second consecutive game against Cold Hill University on the road. The Raiders started out rolling with a couple of big gains on the ground in the first quarter by running backs Felix Hawthorn and Wendell Croft. Hawthorn getting a block on the right side by right tackle Derrick Smith and right guard Timmothy Mack for a season long 29 yards and Croft breaking two tackles for a 21 yard gain late in the first. Hawthorn finished with a respectable 46 yards on 13 carries as it was rough for him to get anything going after the team fell behind 10-0 at halftime. Being down for majority of the game forced a more air friendly gameplay for Tecumseh as they began to look desperate to avoid their second consecutive loss.

Freshman quarterback Ray ‘Quan Smith continues to be one of the few spotlights on the offense as he lobs gains of 25 & 34 yards to DJ Williams and Victor Dubbs. Smith’s ability to run and his agility has been something to watch through the first month of the season and he continued that threat at Cold Hill with 76 yards on 8 carries. Making defensders miss in the open fieldwhen he tucks the ball is what amounts to his yardage as he averages a stunning 8.7 yards after contact. Smith completed 27 passes on 45 attempts for 301 yards as the offense once again struggle to move the ball. 6 foot 5 inch wide receiver DJ Williams leads the team in targets for the fourth week in a row with 13 with 7 receptions. Many of the balls that came his way were all catchable but great handwork by Cold Hill defensive backs were able to punch them incomplete. Freshman wideout Victor Dubbs continues to shine in the slot position attracting 8 targets hauling in 5 for 68 yards.

Down 13-0 in the 3rd quarter Ray ‘Quan Smith is leading a drive to put points on the board before the end of the quarter. With check down passes to tight end Trey Boyd for a total of 31 yards and a combined 8 rushes by Hawthorn and Croft for 25 yards the offense was in the red zone. After stalling to pick up the first down on 3rd and 8 at the Cold Hill 14 yard line, head coach McCreary elects to keep his offense out in desperation as 3 points won’t do much damage. As the offense lines up four wide with Smith in the gun and Croft to his right, Smith says “GO!” and the ball is snapped to him. The receivers all takeoff to the end zone as the offensive line gave Smith plenty of time to throw. DJ Williams runs a endzone post route as Smith throws the ball high for the 6’5 wideout to go up and get it. Williams goes up and grabs the ball at its highest point as he is challenged by (#1CB) and as he comes down with both feet in bounds and falls out of bounds with the defender swiping at the ball, he hits the ground and the ball rocks violently out of his hands as the referee blows the wistle and signals incomplete.

With the Cold Hill offense taking over late in the third after the turnover on downs by Tecumseh, they were able to sustain their drive into the fourth quarter where they were able to add a field goal and close out the visiting Raiders for a shutout victory 16-0. Defensive end Derrick McFadden continues to be the leader on the field as he leads the team once again in tackles, recording 13 and 5 for a loss. The defense was able to keep it close for a while hoping the offense would kick start and take some of the pressure off of them. Tecumseh is 2-2 and sits at third place in the conference. They look to rebound week 5 at home against New Telford State University who in fourth place are also at 2-2.

The Wolverine hunted the Hawk at Griffith Stadium
Image
That was the tittle from Loirgrunzodd Herald Sports Section

What is better that watching LU VS CU classic with your friends and relatives feeling the vibes of the game? watching it on another tournament this time as the name was given to it in 1969 as "The Hawk Province Classic" by Billy Richardson when he was in charge of the ACFL Wolverines and Hawkers had their battle at Griffith Stadium, the match had rhythm and fluency ending the Wolverines victory by 30-23 on Overtime thanks to Marcus Peterson catching a Hail Mary pass by QB Brian Mckay getting out of the pocket extending the play from the 61-yard,Clawtown is having a good performance on their first NSCF tournament now they are going against UCBP the big team of Commonwealth of Baker Park. Our boys stand with their heads up and the moral higher and they have the home factor now Baker Park will be there at "The Makai City" on Makai Stadium that is crucial for this game

The surprise of the night this time? Marcus Peterson was the tittle RB on this match and even scored the TD for the win giving the sign for now that Zoros is out of the plane by now or not? will he play against Baker Park? famous sports blog "Winning and Living" written that Zoros is probably resting for the big match against Baker Park and HC McMichael will go with all but ESPN Alenburg program "Lets Talk About Football" one of the experts said that:"Peterson proved to find holes in the defense really quickly and showed that he is a good catcher" who will be the RB for the big match? we will know it there again i repeat that HC McMichael said:"We have a few surprises for them"

Everything You Need To Know About the Ranorian Teams in the NSCF This Season
From Richardson WR Kieran Kweo-Atkison's Torrid Start to Thorn Davis's MVP-level production, here's everything you need to know

Most folks probably completely wrote off the Richardson squad this season after their disappointing showing in the domestic campaign, but, sitting at 3-1 with little in-conference competition, the Governors have managed a Conference-Best 136 points on offense in just 4 games, as much due to the competition they're facing as anything else. The defense, meanwhile, has allowed 72 points, but 27 of those came against rivals Cold Hill, who have shredded the opposition as well, sitting pretty at 4-0 on the year.

Some people may be wondering how the Ranorian-Champion Cold Hill offense has performed to this point, and anyone with a brain can see that they've been dominant. They've produced 132 points on offense, just 4 behind Richardson for a conference best, on the back of an insane 1,200 yards and 11 touchdowns passing from Thorn Davis in that span. At this rate, at the conclusion of the ten game conference slate, he'll have generated a startling 3,000 yards and 27 touchdown passes. Along with that, running back Hue Ross leads the teams ground charge with 500 rushing yards in 4 games, while Caleb Katterfield is pushing the 200 mark for himself. In their lone matchup with Richardson, this squad was too much, winning it 27-26 on a last second touchdown pass to retain their conference lead.

The Governors squad, meanwhile, has been more impressive than anticipated, but the quarterback situation is far from being solved. Tucker Wolfe is essentially out of the running, having suffered a meltdown in his confidence early against Cold Hill, but Alton McNair and Ifeatu Chineze, the former #1 overall Banijan recruit, appear to be neck and neck, McNair only holding onto the job through the strength of his last two starts and his near-comeback against Cold Hill after taking the reigns in that one. Chineze did get time in the last game though, and is the only quarterback of the three to not have thrown an interception to this point. (Wolfe: 28/40, 227 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT; 71/99, 780 yards, 5 TD, 3 INT with 200 yards and 2 scores on the ground; Chineze: 26/37, 361 yards, 4 TD). While McNair has shown himself to be the most explosive playmaker, he is also the most turnover prone, throwing three interceptions in almost a hundred attempts, but none of these quarterbacks has managed to separate himself from the perceptions they earned during the domestic season, with Chineze being a transcendent passer who struggles with awareness and has too much confidence in his arm and Wolfe being an uber-conservative game manager with no arm strength or confidence.

No matter who's throwing the passes, however, it is Kieran Kweo-Atkison who is the engine of this team's offense. No matter who's throwing the passes, he has dominated, surpassing 115 yards in each game this season, and hauling in over 200 in the opener, for a shocking total of 46 catches for 601 yards and 5 touchdown receptions halfway through the conference slate, both marks that eclipse two of Richardson's quarterbacks' passing stats.

If I had to guess, Cold Hill is going to go undefeated in conference play. Tecumseh is good, a strong football team, and their defensive end, Derrick McFadden, is an absolute animal, but I don’t see them knocking off this strong of a Buffalo squad, and while some may perceive Richardson as a threat, the Governors played their hearts out in a 26-27 home loss. It was obvious from the audience that they gave everything they had, again, at home, and it wasn’t enough.

The Buffalo do, however, have an uncharacteristically hard out of conference schedule, and it’s more than possible that they drop a pair of those games. But this is a football team hell-bent on winning two championships, or four, if you include conference titles, in a single season, and it will take one hell of a squad to stop their march. Including their run in the domestic season, featuring 12 games, a conference championship game, and three playoff games, the Cold Hill Buffalo are an unreal 20-0 on the year.

That streak might come to an end, however, when Cold Hill reaches its out of conference slate, a harder schedule than they're used to. While the past two seasons have seen Cold Hill schedule lesser-known squads to pad their record, this year they open with two perennial powerhouses in Northern Moravica and Saguenay, two squads with more than enough talent to see this team drop a game, but the Buffalo are looking to go 13-0 and storm their way to a championship. When asked about it, head coach Chris Dale simply said, "Honestly, we were late to the ball in terms of scheduling. I like to have a softer out of conference schedule to get things right as a team and have confidence going into the playoffs, but this will be a test, and a gauge for us as a team. I think this football team is good enough win out, no matter who they put in front of us."

Richard Steinheil, meanwhile, Richardson's head coach, despite his team's 3-1 record in the NSCF, and 11-3 record in his domestic season, had a different take on it. "Yeah, I could schedule a few cupcake teams to make our guys feel better about our season, but what good is that gonna do?" He paused, glancing around the room, "No, seriously. It's not going to make the committee vote us into the playoffs, and we're sure as hell not going to get any better as a football team for it."

Image
Richardson Head Coach Richard Steinheil

A solid point, but when you have a squad that many project to finish around .500, maybe, with playoffs a major doubt, it's better to just let your team win a few more games, after all. Not that Steinheil has every cared about anyone's feelings. He's a competitor, one who's starting to hear whispers about his job security, a ridiculous notion after the amount of National Championship rings he has to his name in recent years. Two straight losses to Cold Hill, however, a rival born simply of the two teams' dominance, not an inter-conference contention, along with Cold Hill's recent success and Richardson's disappointing outing in the Ranorian season, have people wondering if he's still got it. Personally, I find these notions to be ridiculous, but sometimes the world of football can be crazy and unpredictable.

With that, thank you for reading.

Oof! Ouch! Owie! DAU takes the win hurting juice
http://www.xcaagoblog.com

XPI 62–16DAU - Well that was rout! XPI and the Big Blue run game ran all over DAU. Explorers backup QB Wayne Murray looked bad and had no timing with receivers and the DAU run game was already non-existent. Also, did we mention that SPI got 505 yards rushing? Yeah, DAU just got ran over! With Romeo Reynolds running wild for 221 yards and 5TDs. QB White and FB Vanderbilt also had 120+ yards. Wayne Murray looked ok, but only in the few chances he had to actually get a pass play off without pressure. Murray finished 20-50 for 275 yrds and two tds with two additional conversion at the end of the game. Serge Vivek was once again a huge part of the defense for XPI. He had 11 tackles on this day, 5tfls and an interception deep in DAU territory. While the injuries did have some factor in the game, with DAU, there was still a thought that XPI would have run over DAU No matter what. At the end of the day though XPI still has the undefeated record and DAU doesn't. Overall it was a smooth game out of XPI scoring on nine opportunities and aside

Chae Heung-Kim hurt as Northern ekes out 12-0 victory over the Army Academy

Image
Northern defenders celebrate a goal line stand in 12-0 shutout victory

HERZEGOVINA CITY, MORAVICA- The Celestia Conference this season, even though its still early, is shaping up to be a three horse race. Those horses are Northern Moravica University, the University of Loyola-Istria, and, of course, Army Academy. All three schools from the nations hosting World Cup 81, going into week 4, they all had a combined record of 8-1, with the only loss being Loyola's defeat in Herzegovina City, against Northern. While Army had played solid football, of course, Northern MOravica was flying out of the gate. They averaged nearly 52 points per game for their first three games, with Chae Heung-Kim slinging the pigskin all around the football field in this pass happy attack.

Of course, they have already been tested with their game hosting Loyola, but now their second true test of the season came- a home game against Army Academy. This was a little bit different than Loyola- Northern and Loyola, archrivals who play each other all the time, know each other extremely well, and there's never a problem getting up for those games. But this matchup was between the Celestia Conference's last two undefeated squads, Northern Moravica and Army Academy. They've never played, so it was a new matchup for Northern. And while at home, it was a game where the Cougars were on upset alert.

Of course, this Northern team was scoring points at a rate previously unheard of. In their first three games, they put up 58 points, 41 points, and 56 points, respectively. The offense was lighting it up, led by the true sophomore, the superstar out of the Royal Kingdom of Quebec, Chae Heung-Kim. IN this system, they liked to throw the football quite a bit. It helped that Horace Browning, in one of his last acts as the Northern head coach, was able to get Kalen Rhodes, out of Ranoria, to commit to the school. He has made a massive impact at wideout, having four touchdown receptions across the team's first four games. Credit the coaching staff for putting the talented true freshman in a position to make an immediate impact, and for the large strides the rest of the team's wideouts have taken.

Now, back to the first play of this home game against Army Academy. Chae Heung-Kim dropped back to pass, and the Cougars had called a screen. However, that play was taken away. He decided to scramble, and instead of sliding, like they teach you, the youngster tried to dive forward to attempt to reach the sticks for the line to gain. However, as he dove, he was hit by strong safety Cai Yu. A dangerous hit, it was helmet to helmet contact. Cai Yu was thrown out of the game, of course, for targeting, which was a controversial call. But, even worse, Chae Heung-Kim looked dazed. He laid on the ground for a moment, and it looked as if he had a serious concussion.

He was taken out after that, and had to be taken out for the game. Now, with Northern's blowouts this season, backup quarterback Timocrates Samaras had gotten some reps. But now, here he was, being thrown into this game between the conference's two undefeated sides. What did that mean? The senior, who has never gotten serious playing time in his career at Northern, now had to be responsible for coming out and winning this game. And things did not start well- on his first play, he was sacked and he fumbled, and the football was recovered by the fierce Army defense.

The tensions in the stadium were rising. With Chae Heung-Kim in concussion protocol and out of the game, everyone else would have to step up. They took a steep downgrade at quarterback- especially in a situation where the backup was coming in cold. And, of course, the defense was facing something that is rarely seen. Army Academy ran the Split T formation, with three running backs, in a line, in the backfield. A strange formation with only one wideout in its base package, the Northern defense had a tough time planning for this. And early on, on that first drive, it looked as if Army would gash. Four straight 7 yard carries took them to the Northern 20 yard line, where they eventually stiffened up and even blocked a field goal.

Army Academy, rather than Northern, has the conference's top defense this season, and on this day, they showed why. With Chae-Heung Kim out, Northern could not get any offensive rhythm in the first half. The teams essentially traded punts until there was 3 minutes left in the second quarter, when Kutubo Colley returned a punt 56 yards to Army's 4 yard line, where Northern Moravica settled for a field goal to take a 3-0 lead into halftime. In the second half, it was the defense and special teams that took over for the Cougars. A forced fumble on Army's opening drive was recovered at the opposing 35, and two first downs later, it was another short field goal for the home side as they took a 6-0 lead.

Two scores, of course, but Army could still go-ahead with a touchdown. But the defense really slammed the door shut on this offense. In the second half, defensive coordinator Longcan Gassama played a 4-4, to stuff the box, with only one cornerback, and both safeties playing with 8 yards of the line of scrimmage. Making the box tighter, they were able to stop the T formation runs, and fill the gaps created by the widespread offensive linemen. They did not get a single first down in the second half, with two turnovers and four punts.

The third field goal was really Northern's only big offensive play of the game, when Kalen Rhodes, the freshman out of Ranoria, scampered 50 yards with a screen to get inside the red zone, as Northern kicked a field goal to make it 9-0 at the end of the third. An Army fumble deep in their own territory, recovered by Northern, led to the Cougars fourth field goal of the day, and a 12-0 victory for the conference leaders. A much more traditional score, as the Cougars offense was brought down to Earth by Chae Heung-Kim's concussion.

Here's the worry- how long will he be out? It's legitimately hard to tell with concussions, which could be short, but these days in football, you can never be too sure. They play the first of three straight road games this week when they pay a visit to Frost University. Frost, of course, is 1-3, but with Chae Heung-Kim a gametime decision, considering the way the offense struggled against Army Academy, the Cougars are sure to be on upset alert, especially if Chae Heung-Kim cannot go and Samaras must start. Either way, all prayers for the quick recovery of the Cougar quarterback.

Strength versus Strength- how does the NSCF's best offense stack up against the NSCF's top defense?

Image
Loyola Quarterback Isaka Jawara pumps up his teammates

ISTRIA, MORAVICA- The University of Loyola-Istria have been one of the most prolific programs in the NSCF ever since they enter the competition in NSCF 13. They consistently have one of the NSCF's top ranked offenses, and this season, they are off the charts. Through four games, they have scored an eye-popping 195 points- or, if you like averages, they are putting up 48.75 points per game, or just a hair under 49 points per game. They put up a stunning 72 points in week 1, one point under the NSCF record for most points scored in a game by a single team. They put up 53 this past week, playing host to St.Catherine of Lycrabon. And now, of course, they encounter the NSCF's top defense in what is certainly the Celestia Conference's game of the week.

This away game is certainly an upset alert game for the Blue Thunder. Both teams are 3-1, and while Loyola has to be the favorite considering all the pieces they have, consider this. It is an away game for the Blue Thunder, which are always tougher, and they certainly haven't played a defense this good all season. And that said, Army Academy does everything differently. The T formation, which is tough to defend because you rarely see it, is what they run on offense, which will be a challenge for the Blue Thunder defense.

But, of course, people are here for the strength v. strength matchup. Army Academy runs a 5-2 Eagle formation on defense, very different from the standard 3-4 or 4-3 defenses that teams usually run. You take out a linebacker for an extra down lineman, and it changes the way the game is played. They lose speed, but it is made up for in strength- Army is dominant at the line of scrimmage. You can't double team with linemen, you can only double team with a tight end or a running back. They can wreak havoc in the backfield. They can gain control of the line of scrimmage, and when that is done, a team is very tough to beat.

How do you do defeat that? Expect the Blue Thunder to take advantage of what they have over Army Academy- speed. Loyola doesn't carry a fullback, of course, and simply starts three wide receivers in their base formation. Force Army into a lot of nickel packages, and take away the base formation. Aka, using the pass to set up the run. Look for a lot of quick outside wide receiver screens, plays where their receivers can get the ball in space.Of course, this means that their receivers need to come out and win their one on one matchups.

This defense really neutralizes Jawara's running ability. We don't know how well they will play on the line, but with five down linemen, those quarterback option runs are going to be extremely difficult to run. It will be hard to get a lot of rushing yards against this defense, and we don't expect them to get a lot of rushing yards against this strong and stout defense. Quick outs to the receivers, middle screens, running back screens, those short passes that will get receivers the ball in space, will be what wins this game. Deep patterns simply will not work- these five down linemen will be able to get pressure on Jawara. The game, then, will come down to individual matchups.

Who can win the individual matchups? The Loyola receivers, will they be able to block in the secondary, will they be able to beat defenders in the open field? Players like Take, Kappas, and Lambusa are all going to have to break tackles if the Blue Thunder offense is going to be able to move the football. Can they do that? Will they be decisive and keep moving forward, and not allow the defense to swarm to them within a few yards of the line of scrimmage? It is a lot of questions. But those individual matchups, on the outside, will be the difference between Loyola coming out of the Free Republics with a win, to keep pace with Northern Moravica, or if the Army Academy's fans storm the field, celebrating an upset victory over one of the NSCF's premier programs in recent seasons.

How do we predict this game will go down? Well, it will be tough. The place will be incredibly loud, and we imagine Army Academy will come out flying, especially their offense, looking to bounce back from getting shut out by a directional school. However, the Blue Thunder have the experience and the know how to win this game. They win big games all the time, and that's why they went to two straight NSCF championship games, and want to go to a third. We predict a 28-20 victory for the Blue Thunder. IT will be tough, but the defense will stiffen up, force some field goals, while the Blue Thunder's receivers are talented enough to score touchdowns on each of their scoring opportunities, and they will then keep pace with Northern Moravica, setting up for an entertaining second half of conference play.

The game, of course, will be televised in prime time.

Vannish Teams Battle In Annual Mainland Melee

Every NSCF season, Imperial Military Academy and the University of Auster square off in a two game series Vangazi are calling the 'Mainland Melee'. Not only are both teams on the same Vannish territory. They are both located in the same province on the North Atlantic Vannish Mainland. A lot is at stake here in this two game matchup.

Most important to the fans is school pride. Auster and Imperial are fierce rivals. Imperial finds itself with a higher caliber program, partially because of more international experience. Auster is trying to show they have what it takes to compete in the NSCF in a season which carried them into the game against IMA undefeated.

"Imperial may be the toughest offense we've faced yet", Auster CB Jense Torkelson said before the match. "Ceneisis may have been the toughest team, but they're more defensive. Imperial is going to put up points."

Auster took the first kickoff. They made a little noise and advanced the ball to the opposite 40 yard line. It was there when they ran out of steam. The kicker missed the FG, blaming it on nerves.

Auster's defense stepped up big to stop IMA's first drive at 3 and out. QB Charles Marlon couldn't get anything going. Neither could Mason Knightsen on the ground. Auster looked tough, putting pressure on IMA's QB and tossing him down at one point.

Unfortunately for Auster, their QB Josh Depzman would give up what their defense just worked to stop. Depzman went 3 wide in a shotgun set. Freshman WR Ackerlund ran up, cut towards the sideline, then cut back in and up towards the end zone. It was a route designed to throw off the corner and maybe draw a safety. The defending CB did disengage.

Depzman just threw the ball a little short. Freshman free safety Matty Berg stepped up and got the pick. He took off in such a flash that he was soon getting past the Auster line. Josh Depzman soon faced the quick safety with a tackle attempt. Both players are the same weight. The safety was 4 inches taller, making him leaner. He broke the stocky QB's tackle and stumbled for a few steps until he really picked up his pace.

Nicklas Ackerlund became the first IMA defender to run back a score in NSCF 19. The next drive wasn't much better for Auster. After Randall Coolidge set them back to the 20 yard line with a deep kick, IMA's defense began to push back hard into Auster. A big sack by DE Manny Huckstabee dropped Depzman for a big sack. Now Auster was on the 5 yard line.

They tried to run, but Levon Fooard came down through the line at MLB to pick up a big safety. This two drive stretch really set Auster back for the rest of the game. Imperial's defense set the tempo for the entire game. Constant blitzes kept pressure high on Depzman. A strong set of linebackers held Auster's running backs accountable.

Things got worse when IMA's freshman cornerback Milo Kapa ran the halftime kickoff back for a touchdown. Now Imperial's defense and special teams had scored on Auster. The Royalhawks were down 16-2, despite a strong defensive outing.

Charles Marlon eventually threw a 7 yard TD pass to TE Bert Madland. The 6'2, 211 lbs cadet leapt to bring home the big catch. He danced in the endzone, rubbing it in Auster's face in front of a cheerful home crowd.

Depzman had a big drive after this score. He played motivated. They also finally managed to establish a run. It was just a little too late. Depzman hit Nicklas Ackerlund in open ground. The speedy reciever ran away from IMA's top CB and picked up 6 points with a 19 yard TD reception.12 yards were after the catch. FB Oscar Rehn failed to get through for the 2-point conversion.

The only other score Imperial managed was a red zone FG after a big stop by Auster's linebackers, bringing down Mason Knightsen in a dual tackle. In the end, IMA's Rangers walked away with the 26 - 6 win.

"Auster was a tough defense to throw against", said IMA QB Charles Marlon. He went 16 for 25 for 187 yards. It was a day that was far from his best. He threw one interception when Keenan gray picked off a sloppy pass. "Seeing defense and special teams step up in a game like this is a big confidence booster for a quarterback", Marlon added. "Really, for the offense in general. We're going to need them if we make any sort of playoff run."

Imperial sits first in Zephyr Conference with Auster close behind in second. Both teams have a 3-1 record and look to improve as the season continues.

"My goal is to take this team into the playoffs", said Royalhawks QB Josh Depzman. "If I can do that in my freshman year... Man. But if we advance, I'll have to step things up even more. We'll all have to."

It appeared both Imperial and Auster have decent quarterbacks, both with leadership qualities. As they sit with tied records, the question remains. Which Vannish quarterback has what it takes to win the conference? The bragging rights of a Mainland province were on the line.

UC, USL back on track heading into road contests
by James Greer, National College Football Editor

Following their equally demoralizing defeats on Matchday 3, the University of the Commonwealth and the University of St Leon rebounded with dominant displays that set up the final game for both in the first half of the NSCF season.

UC will travel to Alenburg to face Clawtown University after having dispatched Universti Cittapura at Gleason Field 43-24. The Warriors regained their defensive edge after having been shredded by the KSJ College of Sports for over 500 yards. Against the Eramen side, the front seven slowed the rushing attack and contained the passing of Yuyi Dunya to only 227 yards and a single TD pass to TE Kuma Dawin.

The Wolverines of Clawtown have won three straight after their opening day defeat in Shirley and come off an emotional overtime victory over their fellow Alenburg side, Loirgrunzood University, 30-23. QB Brian McKay has led the CU offense, as they have averaged 38 ppg since they were shutout by USL.

The winner will take over sole possession of first place in the Mineral Conference at 4-1 and have the inside track to the playoffs.

Meanwhile, the Red Raiders will travel to the aforementioned Universti Cittapura coming off their highest scoring game in 7 years, a 63-36 mauling of KSJ. While the opponents side of the score might cause alarm bells for the Raider faithful, it was only 2 late 4th quarter TD's against the backups that allowed the visitors to reduce the margin.

QB Jordan Schaeffer overcame his uncharacteristic mistake filled performance against LU to lead the way for St Leon's powerful rushing attack, which rolled up 432 yards--the 3rd highest total in school history.

UC will remain in Alenburg in the leadup to the following game, the return fixture against Loirgrunzood--the second of three consecutive away trips--while USL will travel to Clawtown for their away game against the Wolverines.

Media-Darling Cold Hill Buffalo Upset Against People's Isle
Image
QB Thorn Davis after throwing his third interception of the season against TN State

Many, especially after racing out to a 4-0 start, expected Cold Hill to go undefeated in Conference Play. We've been proven very, very wrong. Call it a courageous performance by a team that had one win on the season, or call it a trap game, but it moves Cold Hill out of that very exclusive club of undefeated teams at this point in the season.

Thorn Davis had a rough start, throwing an interception on the opening drive that turned into a touchdown for the Commissars, who quickly capitalized with a touchdown. Cold Hill was obviously knocked off balance by their triple option attack, and a quick three and out by the offense didn't give them time to figure out how to adjust, their opponent taking an unprecedented 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Following that score, though, the Buffalo began to fight back, runner Hue Ross sparking the swing in momentum by galloping, and breaking three tackles, for a 37 yard run before being stopped at the opponent's 29 yard line. While the drive stalled out, forcing a field goal, it got them on the board.

The two teams went into the locker rooms, ten minutes later, with the score sitting at 14-3. The storyline to this point was nothing less than a question of how People's Isle had managed to shut down Thorn Davis's offensive attack, but the game wasn't finished yet. After DeAngelo Gordon forced a punt with a third-and-1 TFL, Davis showed that they weren't out of this one yet, leading his team on a a 5 minute, 13 play drive that spanned 88 yards, hitting wideout Karl Kraus for the touchdown to get them a bit closer at 14-10.

Neither squad managed to score for the remainder of the third, but the Commissars eventually broke through late in the fourth, a huge play getting them into the end zone from fifty yards out, one that looked to ice the game at 21-10. While Davis led another touchdown drive, and followed up by handing it off to power runner Hue Ross for the two point conversion to get them within a field goal, People's Isle drained the clock down to fifteen seconds before nailing one of their own, making it a 24-18 ballgame, and Cold Hill had no timeouts left.

They made an impressive effort to drive down the field, running twice on what looked to be Hail Mary passes with Thorn Davis, who scampered out of bounds, gaining 29 yards in only 11 seconds to stop the clock and get them a good deal closer.

On that final pass, however, as their star quarterback shed a sack and looked downfield, he simply let it fly to avoid the remaining rushers, and hit Jarrett Hauptmann for 36 yards...at the ten yard line. The freakish athlete was unable to fight for the remaining ten yards, only managing to get to the eight as time expired in what could only be a disappointment for this football team.

Richardson, Alton McNair Grab Another Win

Every week, it's looking more and more like Alton McNair has taken that next step, and done what he needs to do in order to be the long-term solution for the Governors at quarterback.

McNair put the offense on his back once again with an inneffective running game behind him, tossing a career-high 367 yards, and tying a career-high 3 touchdowns to only one interception. While it was a nice number, yardage wise, McNair did it on an insane 59 passing attempts, with only 33 of those being completions. The other 16 accounted for 6 overthrows, an interception, passes that were nowhere near their man, and two pass deflections.

Image
Mcnair looking to pass against TN University

TN University kept in this one, a 16-27 victory for Richardson, but they just couldn't stop Alton, who also ran for 45 yards on 13 carries despite the opposition eventually electing to put a QB spy on him. Even passing, though, his mobility was on display behind a struggling offensive line that allowed 12 pressures...and only one sack. Was Alton disciplined in the pocket? No, not by a longshot. But he was lethal outside of it when he scrambled, which was often, going 13/16 for 201 yards and 2 touchdowns, while also throwing his interception.

We shouldn't solely focus on McNair though. The defense, despite allowing 16 points, held TN State to 3 field goals, one touchdown, an interception, and a turnover on downs in the red zone. Their opponent moved the ball all game, limiting the star-studded unit to three sacks and one turnover forced, but once in the red zone, true sophomores, and defensive captains, Judas Wolfson and Isaiah Bryce were everywhere in the compressed space, Bryce tallying 9 of his 14 tackles, and three for a loss, on the day inside the two yard line while Wolfson pitched in with three goal-line tackles of his own to go along with two pass break ups and an interception. Overall, it was a dominant performance by the two centerpieces of this dominant, stifling unit.

This win, as well, draws the Governors to 4-1, tied with Cold Hill for the Big 8 Title, currently in second thanks to head-to-head record. The Big 8 is just starting to get exciting, now. I see both of these teams finishing 8-2, but only one can feasibly finish with a 9-1 record as the second matchup between the two Ranorian powerhouses, in Cold Hill, looms large.

Well, it was bound to happen
http://www.XCAAgoblog.com

AEM 24–17 XPI - I feel like after such a big win we're bound sometimes to have a little letdown. Thats what happened to the big blue as Avalon, a team that got crushed by DAU beat out XPI 24-17 in a performance much more dominant than the score indicated. Yes Romeo Reynolds still got 157 yards, but that was on 40 carries and was his low for the year. Avalon's run defense stuffed most other XPI players as the remaining bits of the team as all other player combined for 88 yards on 25 carries. There was a passing game and maybe thats why Avalon did so poorly against DAU, and as a result Terrence white went 5/7 passing. On Defenxe it wasn't Vivek who lead the team but his compatriot on the Outside, Keith Cooper. Cooper had 9 tackles and 4 of them were for a loss. On the Avalon side their QB was phenomenal throwing for a season high against XPI with 320 yards and 2tds while their leading RB got 79 yards.

TEAM 1 2 3 4 FINAL
AEM 14 0 3 7 24
XPI 3 7 7 0 17

DAU 35–10 PCR - Well, going to be honest, this was a bigger blow out than I thought. Not because of the defense of PCRU but I thought their offense which had been on fire since losing to XPI would have kept it closer. Austin Willis is back and looked better than ever going 43-61 and throwing for 429 yards and 5 TDs. DAU used a quick strike passing game that was able to counter the 7 linemen NPCRU used. Willis counterpart Márcus Caeso Petrescu didn't do awful as he got 121 yards running and 175 passing, but the NPCRU team just couldn't convert 3rd downs and in the end that got them in more trouble than it was worth. Lay Tennbar also did his part with 52 yards rushing and 129 receiving while DE John Hunter again looked good getting 6 tackles and 2 sacks. Next week XPI will again face PCRU for the second time and gets to play a Portvester team that nearly doubled their offensive production in one game.

TEAM 1 2 3 4 FINAL

Week 5 vs New Telford State University

Postby One Jamaica » Mon Oct 08, 2018 11:58 am

Looking to clean up their two game skid, Tecumseh University put on a clinic at home against New Telford State.Coming out with a 60-3 victory shows how dominate this new and unexperienced team can be when they are motivated. 60 points being a team record for their your exsistance. The offense was unstoppable the entire game finishing with 870 total yards and 7 touchdowns. Ray 'Quan Smith had his best game in his young career throwing for 549 yards completing 40 passes and tossing 5 TD passes.

Quarterback RQS got the scoring going in the first quarter with 12 minutes remaining. A designed QB run, Smith sets up in shotgun formation with Boyd lined up at tight end and wide recievers DJ Williams and Shaun Vector lined up out wide. Smith takes the snap and takes one step back as if he was going to drop back for a pass. All in one motion he tucks the ball between his arm and chest area and takes off running to the left of the line of scrimmage. As he gets a block from his wide reciever Shaun Vector 10 yards down field, Ray is able to get to the next level and makes the free safty miss with a quick in and out juke and then outruns the other safty coming at an angle to cut off his route to the endzone for a 67 yard touchdown.

After finishing the first half with 298 yards and a pair of TD passes to Williams and Tre Boyd, Smith and the Raiders go into halftime leading 26-3.The defense was solid as they have been all season with McFadden collecting 2 sacks and a forced fumble recovered by CB Rob Nolte. Middle linebacker Julian Cole comes up with a sack safety in the second with 2:45 remaining and the offense is able to capitalize with Smith's second TD to tight end Boyd for 26 yards. In the second half the defense continues to keep the opposing offense off the field with 5 consecutive 3 and outs. Late in the third quarter Felix Hawthorn gets is first score of the day when he and Wendell Croft are in the wildcat 33 yards away from the endzone. Hawthorn takes the snap and finds a hole opened up by Spencer Gates and Derrick Smith and continues on to break 3 tackles on his way for a 33 yard rushing touchdown. After an interception by safety Brian Crews on the first play of the opponets following posstion, Smith throws his third TD pass to DJ Williams on the third play of the series for 35 yards.

After kicker Peter Zolteck taks on two more field goals early in the fourth, the defense forces another turnover when Derrick McFadden calls his own number again when gets his third sack of the day recording a fumble and recovering it. RQS will finsih with 6 total touchdowns, 1 rushing and 5 passing as he finds Victor Dubbs and Shaun Vector towards the end of the game for his final two scores.

With Tecumseh winning their week 5 match-up, they now head to 3-2 on the season and are 1 game behind Cold Hill University and Richardson University in the Big 8 Conference. Tecumseh will head to People's Isle University next week for the second two match-ups, Tecumseh winning the week 1 at home in their inaugural game 30-7. They'll look to win 2 straight for the second time this season and prepare for a fight at the end of the season.

Our boys had another succesful week with their respectives victories but the special one is the Wolverines those rookies who started the tournament losing their first match are now in the head of the Mineral Conference winning both games against the elites of this conference their recent victory against UCBP 32-17 represented the inflexion point to score the 1st place offense leaded by QB Brian Mckay doing his job playing like he was on this tournament before almost like an All-Pro and Marcus Peterson rushing 633 yards and scoring two TD also the big role of the defense that were a nightmare for the UCBP offense with CB Mccaffrey intercepting 3 passes to QB Grant loy who also was sacked 4 times their RB Josh Cleveland could only rush for a total of 75 yards on this match thanks to our defense that played with toughness our boys now are waiting for Bakers Park schools on their respectives stadiums Hawkers are waiting for UCBP in Loirgrunzodd and Wolverines are waiting of USTL in Clawtown let me remember that both teams won their matches against us on Week 1 so its time for the rematch! i received some information that even in Clawtown University are going to show their Makai Knight statue that since the opening of this Alma Mater is supposed to have mystic powers to the good vibes for the team is considered sacred to the university since its opening

Now we are going with the surprise of the day? Of course our Wolverines this team that supposed to have a hard starting with two stronger teams of their conference is now on the head of that one winning to those two stronger teams including our Hawkers how can you not feel proud of them?

Tecumseh players on one of their 3 practice fields before their week 6 road game.

With the conference schedule half way complete, the Tecumseh University Raiders are 3-2 at 3rd place in the Big 8 Conference. Domestic rivals Cold Hill University and Richardson University are first and second both with a record of 4 wins and 1 loss. New Telford State and People's Isle both have taken a loss from Tecumseh and sit at 2-3 and TN University has yet to win a game this season holds the sixth spot.

With their up and down season halfway in, the Raiders have the defense that is capable of winning a championship. Lead by red-shirt senior defensive end Derrick McFadden is unstoppable up front to opposing offensive linemen. Standing at 6'4 282 pounds, McFadden's strength and speed makes it look easy en route to QB's with a total 4 sacks. Sophomore cornerback Michael Moss is a natural leader and it is starting to show with the other DBs.

The offense is something to look at each week whereas they are dominate one week then they are non existent the next. They have a star at QB with Ray 'Quan Smith with his accurate and deep ball arsenal. His ability to scramble and move the chains is a highlight reel at any given moment. They are averaging 20.6 points per game with their highest scoring game being 60 and lowest being 0. The defense is outstanding and keeping their opponents to an average of 8.4 points per game.

Tucker Wolfe; The Path of Icarus: Chapter 3/Alton McNair; The Lesser Son: Chapter 2

Tucker sat on the bench, headphones in, a hip hop song playing on repeat in his ears as he stared across the field. He hadn't thrown an interception this season, guiding his team to a 10-0 record against a tough schedule, putting up 2,967 yards and 28 touchdowns. His accuracy had been absolutely ridiculous, despite trying to switch throwing arms in the offseason, along with barely winning the starting job due to his reduced arm strength, which he'd done a pretty good job disguising from pretty much everyone this season by hitting streaking receivers who made his throws look much longer than they were.

Across the field? He saw his counterpart. Alton McNair. He'd heard that McNair had garnered the nickname 'The Lesser Son' due to his impressive play not stacking up to that of his brother. If they really studied tape, it was clear that he was fighting against an offensive system that hindered his talents and only starting because of the sheer gap between himself and the next man.

McNair had dragged his Richardson High School squad to a 7-3 record, barely making it into the playoffs, throwing for 2,300 yards and running for another 1,100. He had been picked off twelve times, but he was a gunslinger by nature.

They were the only ones out here, their teammates waiting for warm ups to begin, for coaches to call them out from their locker rooms. Wolfe came up before every game. It calmed his nerves, and while, for a moment, he wondered if McNair was doing the same thing, he quickly dismissed the thought. He could sense it from here, Alton's fire. He wasn't up here to calm down. He didn't play the cold, calculated, internal battle that Wolfe did. No. He embraced his demons, and his faults, his anger, and used it as nothing but fuel.

Tucker was a senior in high school who was hoping to secure an offer from the premier program in the country, Richardson University, where Alton's brother was playing.

Alton?

He was a junior who had a 2-1 record in the playoffs, with only one appearance. His brother had won four championships. No one expected that out of him. But to even cement his own legacy, and step out of the ever-looming shadow of his brother, he needed to take one, and time was running out.

And as their teammates walked up, Alton stood suddenly, sliding a headband over his long dreads, meeting Wolfe's eyes, nodding in his direction, and slamming his helmet on.

It was going to be a long night.

Alton got the first shot at this matchup. A matchup that was tied for all of one play.

Alton dropped back and looked to pass. This was his game, win or lose, it would all be put on his shoulders. And when he didn't see anyone open, he looked to his checkdown, only to find his opponent's massive defensive end, one of the best players on their squad, bearing down on him, a 6'2", 235 pound monster. But McNair wasn't one to go quietly, planting an arm in the rusher's frame and pushing into him, keeping his balance and then pushing off, his own 218 pounds capable of producing much more force than it appeared to hold, and took off.

They'd had good field position at the thirty eight, but it wouldn't have mattered. Alton's speed, already a 4.4 guy even at this age, was unreal, and it didn't matter what angles these guys were taking. The slightest cut and he was gone.

Image
Alton McNair, QB, Junior, takes in a 61 yard touchdown run on the opening snap

McNair didn't celebrate, whipping the ball to the referee and cracking his neck, taking a casual look back at the score board as his teammates swarmed the QB, who simply headed for the sideline. This was all business. He had to take this game, and this was probably going to be their toughest obstacle, the first seeded team in the state, to achieving his ultimate goal.

Tucker Wolfe, meanwhile, nodded with a frown. He wasn't worried, but this kid certainly carried the kind of swagger that he didn't have, confidence that he'd lost when he tore his shoulder. But it wouldn't matter. He was the better quarterback, and he was the best player on the field, at least he thought so. And he was going to go out and show it. He did just that, going 5/5 on his opening drive before he got the snap on the goal line.

Wolfe wasn't extremely mobile, but Richardson High's front four, front seven, no, hell, their entire defense, was slow, and he used that to his advantage, rolling out of the pocket and finding his man, rifling a pass to his favorite target, who was wide open for the reception, one that tied the game up and drew them back to the start of the game. After all, only four minutes had gone by. This was already looking to be a shootout, and they'd only just begun.

Image
Tucker Wolfe, Senior quarterback, throws a touchdown on his first drive

Alton panted heavily at the six yard line. There were fifty seconds left to go in the half at the thirty, the score already 31-28, in favor of their opponent, a ridiculous total to keep up with, but he'd managed to, for the most part, with two touchdowns on the ground and two in the air. Tucker Wolfe, meanwhile, had tossed two and let his running back hammer in the other two, but Richardson High had already seen that their run game had no chance against a bigger, stronger defensive front than their line could handle.

With their opponent getting the ball at the half, Alton knew that a touchdown here was vital, to prevent them from playing catch up against an offense they hadn't stopped yet. He himself had been forced to come off, a stalled drive that had resulted in a field goal on the last series, but he could only do so much. Hopefully it was enough to pull off everything, because that's what he needed here.

He used every second of his team's last timeout to catch his breath, having already put up 115 yards on the ground, and took the snap.

He was quickly swallowed up, the same end he'd avoided on the opening snap slamming into him, knocking what little air was left from his lungs and leaving the quarterback nothing less than stunned. He hadn't even gotten out of his drop, and barely registered his linemen dragging him to his feet.

He got the play, and took his place under center, his body aching from the beating he'd taken, having been tackled three times in the open field, and sacked another four, he was taking a beating, and they were hitting him with everything they had, trying to break him.

Good luck with that,, Alton thought, spinning away from the rush and ripping his third touchdown pass of the game to take the lead as the clock expired at the half, good for a 35-31 score.

Really, however, it would have been better if half time had never happened. The adrenaline dump over the next quarter hour that McNair began to feel the pain wracking his body. The trainer's checked him out, and told him that it was very possible that he'd broken a couple ribs already, but he simply nodded. He didn't have time to think about slowing down, not yet. He had to win this game, whether or not it was possible.

And, coming out at the half, it seemed that the game was going to slow down for him anyways, with Tucker Wolfe's offense stalling out after driving twenty two yards, giving Alton's squad a chance that he took with pleasure. However, his coach, knowing that he was hurt, handed the ball of on six of that drive's eleven plays, only netting fourteen yards, but it gave Alton a chance to recover at least a bit before they settled for a field goal to go up 38-31.

Their elation didn't last long however, and neither did their tempo. The two teams soon began to run up and down the field once again, Tucker Wolfe showing that he, too, had some fight in him on the next drive, hitting his third score of the night in the red zone to draw even. By then, everyone watching, or listening over the radio, had realized that this was going to go down as an absolute classic, a real gem in the first round of the playoffs, their feelings only exemplified when Alton McNair took his team down yet again, running in a touchdown despite taking two sacks on the drive, and taking a heavy hit on the diving score. He was obviously shaken, unsteady on his legs for a moment.

He wasn't able to find any respite on the sideline, however, Wolfe making it four on the night and keeping the game tied, drawing even to a high score of 45-45 in less than two minutes.

RIchardson High's head coach, who wasn't a fan of Alton, looked to his other quarterback option, waving him in as McNair was obviously hurt, and possibly concussed, but the junior growled, yanking his backup by his shoulder pads and stalking onto the field, chin strap undone and stubborn, warrior-mentality on display. Once again, he drove down, taking a beating in the process, but in the end, yet another touchdown pass made it worth it. After all, he thought, there was no way that this team could continue to produce these kinds of numbers. He'd thrown four touchdowns and run in three at this point, a game that anyone could hang their hat on, really, and he didn't have much left, clearly. His teammates were giving their all, rallying behind their quarterback, but it just wasn't enough. They didn't have the talent of their opposition, and while they wanted, with everything they had, to give him this win, the score drawing even once again was the only answer.

And, finally, the inevitably, and yet seemingly impossible, happened: Alton slipped.

He went three and out after being sacked for the twelfth time on the night, Wolfe's squad hitting a long field goal to take their first lead since just before the end of the first half, but, with only six minutes to play, Alton fired, and was hit as he threw, resulting in an interception.

Once again, Wolfe's squad was able to hit a field goal, leaving the game at 58-52. Alton was barely able to move, lightning shooting through his body with every movement. But he had to keep going. They were so close, and this was the best team they were going to play. If he could just finish this, a championship was a realistic possibility.

Alton managing to rip off another pair of touchdown passes while Tucker Wolfe threw two and let his runner take a final one in. Along with two field goals in the fourth quarter, the score was up to an absolutely ridiculous 52-58, in favor of the senior, undefeated quarterback.

Over the PA system, the announcers were listing off the stats of the two quarterbacks, Wolfe with four touchdown passes and three hundred and fifty yards with no interceptions. A sure-fire marquee game. But what Alton had done was nothing short of incredible. Four touchdown passes and three rushing, with three hundred ninety passing yards and two hundred and twenty one more on the ground.

Ridiculous.

He registered the numbers as he took the field for the final drive, no, the final play, he reminded himself. There were nine seconds left after that field goal.

And through the fire, through the pain that was sapping at his very will, McNair stared at the end zone, seventy five yards away.

There was only one man he would trust to make this play, one man to bet on.

And that was himself.

McNair spat on the turf of his opponent's field. If anyone could do this, it was him, but he didn't want to run. He didn't know if he could at this point.

One clap, and the ball was in hand.

One step, and he was pressured.

He rolled out, stepping through the first tackle, before the defensive end who'd plagued him to much came off the other edge. And Alton let his instincts take over, spinning away from the tackle, even as the interior lineman broke through, a timely juke the only thing keeping Alton on his feet. And, against all better judgement, he ran, knowing that the pocket was compromised. It looked like a scramble doomed for failure, a linebacker slamming into his ribs, burning pain nearly ending the game, but Alton stuck a hand in the dirt to push himself back up, only to take a shot to the abdomen, staggering backwards and somehow keeping his feet, able to gain some momentum and stiff arm his next would-be tackler.

And he was still going, still streaking off, with double zeroes on the clock and running on empty. A corner rolled off of him, and he hurdled a safety who went for the big hit. That made seven. Ran through two more defensive backs who tried to wall him off.

Nine.

He kept running, even as his speed abandoned him, he kept running, hoping against hope that he could make it in. He ran along the sideline, backstepping another tackler who flew into his own teammates on the bench, and was going to keep running, now at the four yard line, when he felt the ball ripped from his grasp.

In his fatigue, he'd held the ball out, with zero thought to ball security, and he saw it fall from his grasp, the defender falling on it.

He heard the whistles blow, and he couldn't think.

Alton vomited on the field as the home crowd swarmed around them in excitement before collapsing.

Everything, it seemed, was too much to ask for, after all.

Raiders look for 2nd Road Victory
Tony Ferguson, College Football Editor
for The Exponent

The University of St Leon finally made its first trip abroad during NSCF 19, as the travelled to Eraman to face Universiti Cittapura for week 5, and came away with a 20-13 win.

The Red Raiders were contained by defense that had given up 43 points to University of the Commonwealth the game prior and found it hard to open up holes with the same ease as they had in the previous game against KSJ.

The Raider defense continued to set the tone for the team, as they held UC to less than 300 yards of total offense, and forced three turnovers, including a fumble recovery on the final Cittapura drive as they were marching towards a possible tying score.

The win means USL are in a jumble for 2nd place, with Commonwealth losing to Clawtown University—the Raiders next away game—and Loirgrunzood winning, those three are now 3-2, one game behind CU at 4-1.

Warriors in Peril as Alenburg DH continues
Teresa Bramlage
Daily News Football Writer

Reporting from Loirgrunzodd, Alenburg:

The University of the Commonwealth slumped to their second defeat in three games as they suffered a 32-17 loss to Clawtown University's Wolverines at Makai Stadium in Clawtown.

The home team was fired up from the start, with a chance to take on the defending Mineral Conference champions and with a win take over the top spot in the standings.

The Warriors offense look out of sorts from the very first play, reminiscent of their early season offenive struggles from the last NSCF campaign. QB Grant Loy had one of his worst performances for the Black & Gold and the running game, led by Josh Cleveland, Patric Hannon and Donovan Wilson, never were able to find daylight against an aggressive Wolves defense.

At the conclusion, the students attempted to rush the field but were fairly well contained by security; a strange reversal of last season when it was UC crowds who jumped from the stands at end of games. The Warriors knew they would be the hunted this season, rather the hunters and so far, their two trips away from Gleason have produced no positives.

UC will need to change their road fortunes quickly; they remained on in Alenburg ahead of the trip to Loirgrunzood, and will return to the Commonwealth to face a trip to Shirley to take on the Raiders in two weeks.
LU have dropped only one game since the teams met on matchday 1 in Belle Haven, and will see the opportunity to emulate their rivals in knocking off the champions on home turf.
