Richardson Dominant in Win over New Telford State
Despite the QB controversy, all three competitors for the starting job saw playing time in a 50-21 win over newcomer squad New Telford State. Tucker Wolfe opened the game, playing the first two quarters, and helped the squad jump out to a 14-0 lead with a pair of red zone touchdown passes, each inside the five yard line. It’s certaiinly no stretch, however, to say that it could have been a much larger margin of victory, as Wolfe went one for four on passes beyond twenty yards, the one hit being a twenty six yard lob to a wide-open Kieran-Kweo Atkinson, who took it for forty four yards before being knocked out of bounds. Richardson’s defense, meanwhile, was stifling, allowing for thirteen yards in that first quarter. In the second, after a third touchdown pass by Wolfe, his second to Atkison, Richardson pulled their starting quarterback, whom had gone 25/31 for 227 yards, three scores, and no interceptions. His replacement? Ifeatu Chineze, the Banijan number one overall recruit, who had shown that, of the three quarterbacks, he was the best pure passer and their best man in crunch time scenarios. Despite it being late in the second, Head Coach Richard Steinheil let him turn loose for another touchdown pass, as Ifeatu dialed up Atkison for a bomb that traveled fifty four yards in the air before Atkison took it home for his third touchdown of the night, a seventy yard completion downfield.

With one half to play at 28-0, the game was far from over, but it was evident that Richardson wasn’t threatened by this team they were facing. And while it may have seemed cruel to continue passing the way that they were, their running backs weren’t the spot on this team that the coaching staff wanted to evaluate, it was the quarterbacks. As for starting runners Benjamin Morgan and Elijah Sampson, they had so far combined for seventeen carries for 71 yards, and they’d make that 72 for a touchdown after one of Chineze’s passes, this one to redshirt freshman Calvin Hale, went to the one yard line. Benjamin Morgan, the team’s starter, was the one who took it in, bouncing a power play to the outside. The lead grew then to 36-7 after Chineze tosses a two point conversion to tight end Gunther Krause. He’d get one more drive, where he found speedster Dylan Tweed for a score, as the lead Went up to 43-14

Late in the fourth, Derek McNair finally got his shot, up 43-21 as defensive third stringers were in the game now, and he guided his team down the field with 34 yards on the ground and 43 through the air, freshman tailback Vice Jackson III also taking the reigns on this drive as he contributes another 13 yards on three carries. The final score would come when McNair fired a dart to high school teammate, and friend, Calvin Hale, who hauled it in for the first passing and receiving touchdown of their careers, the sixth passing touchdown overall.

The game ended on a forced fumble on the ensuing kickoff when Judas Wolfson laid out the return man and took the ball away. McNair and Jackson were both given the ball a few more times, but it was in a chew the clock setting, and only one more pass was thrown. With that, a 50-21 victory that gave Richardson the NSCF’s best scoring offense despite having three quarterbacks. It should be taken as a grain of salt, based on their competition, but he runner-up isn’t surprising at all.

Overall, it doesn’t appear that there will be too many consequences for Richardson’s indecisiveness at the quarterback position, with a suddenly weak Big 8 conference staring back at them, but next week, and in week 6, it will, as these are the two games that will decide who will take home the Big 8 title, the two matchups between Cold Hill and Richardson.

Based on what we saw in the domestic season, however, Cold Hill won’t have a problem bringing down the Ranorian juggernaut. The two didn’t meet in the domestic season for the first time in six years after Richardson was knocked out in the first round of the playoffs.

What is encouraging, despite the competition, is that all of the quarterbacks performsd well, incumbent starter Tucker Wolfe having gone 25/31 for 227 yards and a trio of touchdowns, two of them to Kieran-Kweo Atkison. His yards per completion was low, but he is a conservative passer without a ton of arm strength, that was to be expected. It’s concerning though, especially when considering that three of his six incompletions were on deep shots. A team like the Buffalo will key on this, and play up on the line of scrimmage. All three of these quarterbacks have vey exploitable weaknesses, and with Wolfe, it is his lack of mobility and arm strength.

The second quarterback, Ifeatu Chineze, Banija’s number one recruit, did well himself, firing with an arm reminiscent of John Garrett, able to make every throw and going 12/17 for 204 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Two of his incompletions seemed like miscommunications that would result in interceptions against a better team, one was on a scramble, and his throwing on the run leaves much to be desired, and another happened when Chineze simply didn’t account for the free safety, almost as if he hadn’t even seen him. He showcased his own weaknesses as a quarterback too, if not as a passer. Chineze is vulnerable to complex or disguised coverages that last years quarterback, John Garrett, would normally be able to diagnose and attack, and is too confident in his own, albeit spectacular, arm strength and accuracy, which can result in interceptions when he thinks he can fit a pass into a tight window.

Finally, Derek McNair got the ball late, going 6/10 for 50 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing in six carries for 47 yards. He was impressive in his brief showing, but it’s doubtful that this performance will be enough to bump him up in the depth chart after the play of the other two quarterbacks.

Notably, of the six passing touchdowns as a team, Kieran Kweo-Atkison hauled in a startling three of them, with speedster Dylan Tweed taking a deep shot from Chineze to the house for one of his own, and tight end Gunther Krause taking in the last of the bunch, one from Tucker Wolfe.

So, here’s to hoping that the offense can perform the way they did in this one against Cold Hill. After all, they’ll need to.

Slowing down the Cold Hill offense seems like a bear of a task for anyone after this showing. But at the start of this contest? Not so much. TN University actually took an 8-7 lead in the first quarter after answering Cold Hill’s touchdown, and forced a three and out with a sack on the second drive, hitting another two point conversion. But Cold Hill’s Chris Dale, knowing that the game was far from over, didn’t panic, going for the extra point after his team scored a second time. Whether it showed the other team that there was absolutely zero concern about losing this game, or if Cold Hill simply woke up, is up for debate. But Thorn Davis was unstoppable from that point forward, and the defense racked up a startling ten sacks throughout the contest, shutting TN State out in the final three quarters.

Sophomore runner Hue Ross was impressive as well, tallying twenty seven carries for one hundred and forty yards and a touchdown to go along with six catches for seventy two yards. And, just in case we forgot to mention, Thorn Davis was 33/45 for 422 yards and five touchdown passes, along with sixty rushing yards on nine carries and another touchdown.

The defense also, though, more impressively, hauled in three nterceptions. One was taken in by linebacker Jakeem Butler, and the other two were picked off by corners Clarence von Arris, younger brother of RFL perennial all-pro Alexander bin Arria, and Klara North, Ranorian College Football’s first ever female player.

More than likely, this Cold Hill squad is going to take the Big 8 conference by storm, so hold onto your hats, because they aren’t stopping any time soon.

Northern Moravica, with new head coach, gets ready for new season

Image
Athletic Director Horace Browning(left) stands with new Head Coach Lance Kabuye(right)

HERZEGOVINA CITY, MORAVICA- There has been a change of scenery at Banija's oldest public university. A whole heck of a lot has gone on behind the scenes, with multiple firings and people moving between various positions, but this storied program is looking for a return to the top of Banijan college, which means doing what their archrivals to the South have done twice already- claiming the title of the best college football team in the multiverse. College football is a unqiue support, unlike any other, where, especially here in Banija, you can be defined by your rivals success. As we've said many times- Horace Browning does the same exact same thing and Loyola doesn't go on to win multiple NSCF titles, his job is safe. However, that was not the case.

Horace Browning, of course, was hired in NSCF 12 by Northern Moravica. He had been the defensive coordinator for the NSCF 11 champions, Stoneshore College. He brought a culture and expectation of winning, and competing right away for conference championships. Northern Moravica, of course, had a winning tradition in Banija, but nobody really knew how that would translate on the international level. Could they seriously compete? But coming out swinging and hiring this coach who has a record of success on the international level before their first ever season of NSCF play was a big risk. An expensive one, at that. He had a good job, defensive coordinator with a ring. He wasn't a head coach, of course, but he wasn't going anywhere.

He had great success, at the beginning of his tenure. In his very first season, in NSCF 12, he won 8 of his first 9 games at the helm, and won the Celestia Conference title outright with a game remaining. However, it all went downhill from there. They lost their final 5 games of that season, getting crushed in the last conference game and in non-conference play, to culminate in a playoff loss. Still, however, even with that disappointing ending- winning a conference title in the first season is not a bad thing. They repeated the feat in NSCF 13, when their archrivals, Loyola, entered the NSCF. Two-time defending champs, but still, a first round playoff exit. Frustrating, but still relatively new, still a young team. Playoff success would come with time.

Then, of course, came the turning point- NSCF 14. The rivalry between Banija's two oldest universities, not separated by that much distance, is fierce. One ran by the church, the other ran by the state, both started with the help of the Quebecois, the bragging rights are fierce. NSCF 14, of course, Loyola-Istria took the Celestia Conference title for the first, and only time. No matter, thought Northern fans. A bad season yes, but they were Banija's dominant program. Or so they thought. Loyola-Istria stormed through the postseason, and won the NSCF 14 title, the game that was played just 6 miles from Loyola's campus, at Liberty Stadium in Downtown Istria. That NSCF championship, of course, firmly established them as Banija's dominant program.

Then, of course, came the hiatus in NSCF 15 & 16 from Banijan participation, due to a dispute with the Banijan Collegiate Sports Group. But they came back in NSCF 17. Northern Moravica wrestled the Celestia Conference title back from Loyola-Istria, to make their first playoff apperance since NSCF 13. And, unfortunately for them, it was yet another first round playoff loss. And after the Blue Thunder stormed their way to yet another NSCF title, with Isaka Jawara's heroics against the Space Academy, it was clear to the naked eye- Loyola-Istria was the sport's premier program.

That second Loyola title, that feeling of inferiority to their archrivals, proved to be Horace Browning's downfall. It all came to a head in NSCF 18. Northern Moravica won, on tiebreakers, their second straight, and fourth overall, Celestia Conference title. However, due to poor performance in non-conference play, the Blue Thunder actually got a higher playoff seed. While Browning finally won a playoff game, he faced up with his archrivals in the second round, and fell again, as they went to another NSCF title game. That was the final straw at Northern, as he lost his job.

He was, of course, well respected at Northern. He ensured that Northern went out, and competed right away. He did pave the path for Banijans schools in the NSCF. Because of that, when Pelias Patras resigned as Athletic Director(more on that in our next edition), he was an obvious choice to serve as Athletic Director. Accepting, he searched domestically, and hired Lance Kabuye as the head coach. His teams are far different from the Horace Browning teams. He'll spread them out and sling the ball all over the football field, instead of pounding it down your throat.

Will the new coach succeed? Well, his success will be tied to a quarterback he didn't recruit- Chae Heung-Kim. That's not a knock on the sophomore out of the Royal Kingdom of Quebec- he was Northern's highest touted recruit since they joined this competition in NSCF 12. He seems to be a fit for this system- he has the arm strength, and certainly the confidence. But he's still young, and switching coaching staffs after one year is always going to be tough on a young quarterback. Even though Kabuye didn't recruit him, Chae Heung-Kim is tailor made for Kabuye's system, and therefore, his success will be dependent on that fact.

How will the Cougars do this season? It is difficult to say. He'll host the University of Walton, out of Krytenia, in week 1. That will be his opening game, one game to get all the kinks worked out before their archrivals to the South come to town for his first North v. South Showdown as the head coach. We'll see some stuff unveiled, but we certainly expect to see some parts of the playbook hidden before the rivalry game. Rivalry success, as he knows from his now boss, Horace Browning, will go a long way in seeing whether or not he is embraced by fans in Herzegovina City.

Loyola-Istria gets ready for NSCF 19 with sky-high expectations

Image
Akers State runs for a first down in preseason game against the Blue Thunder

ISTRIA, MORAVICA- The standard of excellence at the University of Loyola-Istria, the NSCF 14 champs, the NSCF 17 champs, and last season's NSCF runner-ups, has been set. The bar, of course, is winning championships. They have had excellent seasons, and last season, even though it ended in disappointment, was absolutely a great one. After losing a nailbiter in week 2, away to Northern Moravica, they pulled off 13 straight victories, including a home victory over Richardson, three playoff victories at home, and a trip to the NSCF 18 championship game, played in our nation's capitol city. The home winning streak for Loyola-Istria, at this point, is ridiculous. Istria Lightning Yard is a fortress. And yet, the season was defined, like so many sports seasons, by its final moment.

In a shocking upset to an extremely young Mar Sara Tech team, a Blue Thunder squad that was supposed to lift their third NSCF title, this time in our nation's capitol, was shockingly upset in front of an overwhelmingly pro-Blue Thunder crowd at the Stadium of the Restoration. Maybe the Blue Thunder underestimated them? Maybe, after a massive rivalry win in the quarterfinals, followed by a blowout victory over Cold Hill in the semifinals, they were simply too emotionally exhausted? It is hard to win as a favorite in the championship game, as, of course, the pressure is massive.

Star quarterback Isaka Jawara, whom many expected to wrap up his second straight NSCF title and go pro, declared after that game he was coming back for his senior season. "I have given my all to this school, and I want to use my remaining year of eligibility. I want to leave a champion." The quarterback situation for the Blue Thunder is quite shaky beyond this season, actually, but we'll get to that later in the year, when recruiting picks up. But the NSCF 17 Offensive Player of the Year and the NSCF 18 Most Outstanding Player is back, and because of that, his team are the early betting favorites to bring home the title. That is evidenced, of course, by their preseason #1 ranking in the OSPI.

Of course, he has set the bar incredibly high- by saying that he can get back to the summit, a summit that they've already reached in NSCF 17, the standard for success for the Blue Thunder is clear- championship or bust. Ironically, even though he's had two NSCF title game appearances, he's never won a conference championship. That, of course, is the first goal for the Blue Thunder. Winning that surprsingly elusive conference championship. Alanso Isa said that at his appearance at the NSCF media days. "Winning your conference is an important goal, and something that is always a goal of ours. We were unlucky last season, losing out on late tiebreakers. We are certainly capable of winning the conference this year, and I intend to do that."

The Blue Thunder, two weeks before week 1, took a trip out to Northwest Kalactin, to play a preseason game against Akers State University. While preseason games are generally vanilla, and it's hard to draw definitive conclusions from them, it was not a good performance by the Blue Thunder. They got smoked. Their starting offense and starting defense each played 3 possesions, and after those, they were down 17-3. The defense got shredded, and the offense seemed stuck in second gear. Alanso Isa told reporters after the game that he was 'looking for a better performance from the offensive line', as Jawara faced a lot of pressure in that game. It was clear that kinks still needed to be worked out- there were lots of false starts, some miscommunications, and lots of frustration. But that's why we have preseason games, right? To work out those kinks?

The expectations for Blue Thunder fans are sky high now. That is the problem with success, especially early success- it is going to turn into championship or bust expectations, every single year. That preseason game was worrying, but there are reasons to be confident. The Celestia Conference schedule does them a favor- they won't leave Banija until week 5, which should keep them fresh and allow them to start at least at 3-1, if not, 4-0. That is, of course, before four of 5 games are away from home, with the only respite a home game against Northern Moravica.

Here's the question of the day- how tough will the Celestia Conference be? Northern and Loyola have dominated the conference every year that they've been a member, but that might change this season. Army Academy is looking to be strong, and the University of Walton is from a traditional sporting power of Krytenia. It's too early to tell if they'll be any good or not, but the expectations will be high. At least for the Blue Thunder, they open against Frost University, which is a good start to have before they make their trip north, to the unfriendly confines in Herzegovina City. We'll see how they open and how Jawara performs against Frost University, before the big week 2 showdown in what is one of the NSCF's biggest rivalries- Northern v. Loyola.

Week 1 TU vs. People’s Isle University 30-7

Postby One Jamaica » Fri Sep 28, 2018 8:57 am

Tecumseh University came out with a bang in the universities first game with a 30-7 victory over People’s Isle University. Everyone was rolling on the same cylinder with the offense putting up a total 676 yards and the defense getting 3 sacks and 2 interceptions. Head coach McCreary, “We had a solid game plan that every player stuck with and execution was superb. I told the guys this is not their first time playing football so put all the hype behind you about the teams first season and go win a football game. You can get hype after the clock hits 4 zeros and we have more points than the opposition. I told them dinners on me.” Freshman QB Ray’ Quan Smith stole the show with an excellent showing throwing for 448 yards, 3 touchdowns and 58 yards on 8 carries. He moved the ball efficiently down the field against People’s Isle’s defense for 21 straight points before going 3 and out for the first time with 3 minutes to go in the 2nd. Running back Felix Hawthorn was in tunnel vision en route to 123 yards with an additional 30 yards on 3 receptions. DJ Williams, Shaun Vector and freshman Victor Dubbs are all guys to keep an eye on as the season rolls on. They combine for 22 receptions for 296 yards and a touchdown each. Defense did more than what they predicted holding their opponent to 7 points and they’ll look to continue there dominance week 2 @ TN University. Captain Derrick McFadden had 12 tackles and 2 sacks.

Bowerstone University 'Bolts'

Background Info: Bowerstone University is the leading gridiron football university within the Kingdom of Anthor, most notably being led to their current era of fame by current Anthoran professional gridiron head coach Joel Turnbull who between 589 - 599 AC led the Bolts to no less then four Anthoran Collegiate Series championships and maintained an 84% winning percentage throughout his time there. After his departure, the Bolts tumbled a bit trying to find an adequate replacement for their legendary coach, going through no less then 5 head coaches in four seasons but their current head coach in Georgie Nevin has seemingly proved himself, already winning two playoff games in his two seasons with the team. Nevin was a former ACS player himself, playing for Bowerstone's rivals in Northam and even played against Turnbull's Bolts a few times himself. He's brought a completely different style of play to the Bolts, opting to go for much more offensive minded schemes then what was used in the past, and has a number of tools to do it with, either in his quarterback, half back or receiver options.

Stadium: Hookfield Stadium, capable of holding 46,000 fans and spectators is located just south of University property in the rolling hills of Antyne Province. Built fifteen years ago, it is well maintained and offers modern amenities, such as free wifi and spacious concession stands.

Tucker Wolfe; The Path of Icarus: Prologue

It was a middle school football game. A state championship, yes, but a middle school football game, nonetheless. And yet if you saw the crowd, the dozen or so scouts wearing various apparel that flashed the logos of many midling Class IV Ranorian College Football Schools along with a few more Class III powers. Along with them were about four high school coaches from schools in the area hoping to secure the prized “recruit” at quarterback for Pondwood Middle School.
Granted, he game had been over since this quarterback had thrown four touchdowns in the first quarter. Of course, now, late in the fourth, he was on the sideline after throwing for ten through three quarters, and the score was 65-24. Absurd. This kid had tossed for a ridiculous amount of yards and scores as a middle school QB, throwing to guys with no hands and had only been picked off three times. By the looks of things, he was going to be a state champion quarterback, and they wanted whatever they could get out of him.

And as the game drew to a close, the Pondwood Tadpoles celebrated on the sideline, the game over, as they cheered on victory, a third straight state championship. And of course, recruiters were all over the quarterback’s parents, and a couple were talking to him, immediately. He was eventually separated from his teammates, and looked lost, the 5’10” middle schooler unsure of what to do until his parents called him over.

“Tucker!” He looked over, grateful to see his father talking to a man bearing a scarlet “R” on his shirt.
“Yeah pops?” Tucker smiled, helmet under his arm, revealing messy, dirty blonde hair held back in a headband.
“Why don’t you tell this man who your favorite football team is?”

The answer was instant, almost reflexive, “Oh, the Memphis Steamers, Pa!”

“No no,” his father laughed, casting an apologetic glance towards the scout, “Your favorite college team, Tucker.”
“Oh,” he laughed, oblivious to the situation, “Well that’s easy, the Richardson Governors.” He looked up at the scout, unknowingly, “I’m gonna play for them, you know! I’m gonna be the best quarterback they’ve ever seen, and we’re gonna win championships!” He said it with such gusto, holding his hand in a fist in front of him, “I’m already the best at Pondwood, so I’ve just got to keep being the best everywhere I go.”

The man chuckled, a grin on his face as he glanced down to take notes, lauding in hat conversation as he did so, “Well, what makes you say that, kiddo?”

Tucker smiled, brimming with confidence, not a doubt in his mind as to where his path would lead, “Because I outwork everyone, friend or foe, and I won’t stop climbing until I can feel the sunlight beneath my wings.

If you had told me that at the start of this NCSF season that after one week, XPI would have scored 37 and DAU 16 I would not have believed you, but if you had told me that a major rainstorm would belt both games then yes I could believe you. Xannaeria Polytechnic opened the season against another trade specific school when they faced off at Palæontological-Centered Research Universities in the mud at Natanians and Nosts. heavy rains not unlike what belted XPI's home city in Pearlham the last weekend meant that this game would be a battle of cleats as much as a battle of playcalling. It was the Big Blue who rumbled to the top as QB Terrence White ran for 112 yards and WB Romeo Reynolds ran for an even more impressive 203 on 28 carries. Reynolds scored three of the four TDs while White who ran for 112 on 15 carries also threw a rare XPI TD in a three yard "bomb" to FB Dik Vanderbilt. 450 yards were gained on the ground while 80 were done on the air, the TE's that XPI employs did magnificent in their blocking as the undersized XPI line was also able to negate PRCU's 7 man front. Defensively Serge Vivek lead the team with 9 tackles.

TEAM 1 2 3 4 F
XPI 14 6 10 7 37
PRCU 3 7 0 7 17

Meanwhile in Melbergia, coach Mark Leak and the DAU explorers had a tougher time of it, dealing with similar conditions, the Explorers had to abandon the air raid for once and go to a runners delight. Lay Tennbar ran a shocking 25 times for 88 yards and a TD and Rocky Harmon a WR also went running for an addition 52, as for passing stats Austin Willis still had 291 yards but two plays of 59 and 80 helped that stat out. Overall he had career lows in that department going 11/28 and only one td and that was on a shovel pass. Defense look good as they held Portvester to 94 total yards and if it wasn't for a fumble deep in their endzone early on the explorers may have held out for the shut out.

Raiders cruise to victory
Tony Ferguson, College Football Editor
for The Exponent

Shirley--USL made it a successful debut in NSCF competition with a 24-0 win here against fellow rookies Clawtown University. The victory generally followed the script of many of St Leon's games a year ago--solid defense and a rushing attack that wore the visitors down as the game progressed.

Jordan Schaeffer went 12-18 for 154 yards and added 68 more on the ground, Seth Arnold ran for 87 yards and a TD & Jarrett Banks scored twice on runs of 3 and 1 yards, finishing with 43 on 8 carries.

Meanwhile, the Red Raiders held the Wolverines offense in check; QB Brian McKay had a rough time against the defensive line of USL. He finished the night passing for only 158 yards on 11-28 with 2 INT's and was sacked 3 times. The CU running game found it difficult to break free as well, as they ended with just 71 yards for the night.

Coach Kevin Meredith was happy the team got through the opener without injury or performance concerns heading into their next game, at Commonwealth for a Sunday afternoon encounter.

"I thought we controlled the tempo and tone of the game in a way that you'd like to have for an opener. We were prepared for the multi receiver sets they showed and I think our DB's did an excellent job. I know we'll have to see a lot of improvement in the basics before we go up to Belle Haven. We'd like to show them we are going to be challengers to their title."

Warriors open win Victory
Teresa Bramlage
Daily News Football Writer

Reporting from Gleason Field:

The University of the Commonwealth opened the defense of their Mineral Conference championship here with a strong display versus the visitors from Alenburg, Loirgrunzood University, by a final of 26-10

Both teams decked out in Black & Gold, the game started bright for the guests as they took the opening kickoff and moved the ball close to midfield, but were forced to punt and UC started from inside their own 15.

Grant Loy started strong, as he found Vanel Doussos and Hunter Folkesterma on consecutive plays that took the Warriors out to their own 38. Josh Cleveland then picked up the offensive slack as he rushed for 5 and 8 yards followed by Patric Hannon going for another 7. A Loy scramble and a short completion to Teo Redding brought up 3rd & 2 from the LU 34, but Cleveland was stopped for no gain and Nick Fields came on to split the uprights from 51 yards and it was 3-0.

On their next drive, QB Michael Richardson found WR Blake Sheeren for 11 yards on the 8th play of an 80 yard drive that put the Hawkers ahead 7-3.

The Warrior offense continued to move the ball consistently, but came up short of the goal line on their next two drive, and were forced to rely on Fields again for points.
At halftime, it was 9-7 and the visitors felt confident about their prospects for possibly stealing an early road win.

However in the 3rd quarter, Loy began to seek out Redding a bit more frequently and finally the All Star WR broke loose on a 26 yard catch and run for a TD and it was 16-7. The Hawkers came back with an impressive drive of their own, but when it stalled on the UC 30, they brought on Jaques Van Der Vaart for a 47 yard FG attempt, but it sailed wide of the left post and UC took over the ball once more.

Cleveland and Donovan Wilson picked up 47 yards between them on the ensuing possession, and a Folkesterma 10 yard catch was followed by Hannon bursting through for the final 13 yards for the TD and after Fields added the extra, the lead was 19.

The Hawkers really never threatened the UC goal line during the 4th quarter and when Fields knocked his 4th FG try straight through from 39 yards, the scoring was complete.

Bowerstone Slips Past Imperial

This is Charles Marlon's senior year. He has taken IMA through several seasons without any success. While he is one of the few collegiate athletes to quartback for Vangaziland, Marlon's record leaves much to be desired. Imperial's home opener would turn out to be a close game.

IMA was stalled on their first drive. They came back to give up a touchdown on their first defensive stand. That early combnation of breakdowns may have got into the minds of the Rangers, wrecking their chances of a win before the game even started.

Imperial had a tough drive on their second run up the field. It took multiple 3rd down conversions to advance up the field. A 27 yard Marlon pass got the Rangers into the red zone. Imperial's freshman HB ran two strong carries to establish the run in the red zone. Marlon seemed to fake a handoff to the FB, not quite in playaction, since the fullback approached from the side.

Marlon threw to Bartt Nelson, taking on the opposing CB in Julian Scrivens. The speedy Vannish receiver made it to the corner and dragged a foot inside the line before falling out of bounds. Vangaziland was on the board.

On their next drive, Vangaziland would be held to a field goal. Imperial would score three field goals throughout the game. Marlon would throw for 3 touchdowns. He would go 21 for 29 with 254 yards. "It was a decent outing personally", Marlon said after the game. "I'm just trying to fall into a routinue. At the end of the day, we failed to win. That's unacceptable. It's something we'll work on."

Marlon threw 2 interceptions, which may have made the difference in the loss. "I take responsibility for the L", the senior QB told reporters.

Imperial's HB Mason Knightsen had 92 yards with 1 touchdown. His score came on an explosive 7 yard TD run. Excellent blocking help clear the way. TE Bert Madland laid a strong block on CB Domenic Adelson to help Mason get around the corner. It was the last block to open space. Mason outran the safeties until Payton Tatham dragged him down in the end zone.

Imperial's defense fell short enough to let the game slip out of reach. "We definitely should have stopped these guys more", said linebacker Levon Fooard."We'll study film and see what we can take away to improve."

"The only decent result from this is that the score is close enough to take the series lead in leg 2." 1st option WR Benny Banks spoke on his hopes for later in the season.

"This was not how our season was supposed to start", said HB Mason Knightsen. "I don't want to start calling for the ball, but we need to do more with the run." Mason seemed to be speaking more like a frustrated pro than a college freshman. He wanted the ball in his hands so he could have more influence.

Imperial is set to face Ceneisis Naval Academy at an away game. They are the toughest team in the conference and a rival for the Vannish Army-Marine school. Only time can tell us if Imperial will rise to the occasion of NSCF 19.

Auster Opens With Home Victory

The University of Auster is not exactly considered a competitive team in NSCF play. They're a well funded program. Auster is definitely a motivated side. The school just isn't seen as one of the most talent-rich teams. They're expected to ride in the shadows of Imperial Military Academy, which is considered to be a more developed program.

Auster is known for going 2-8 multiple times. "Something has to give with our record", said Freshman QB Joshua Depzman. "This team needs a leader. It needs guidance to succeed. As the new QB, I see this as my team. I have to push these guys to do the impossible."

Depzman spoke excited words of motivation before the game. He showed he could back things up on the field as well. Anthony Kelder was having a hard time establishing the run. This didn't stop UA from sending the HB into the fray time and time again.

Part of the issue was the O-line's run blocking. They just didn't seem as coordinated as they could be. There were even a few sloppy penalties. Junior Anton Aberg jumped the line twice. Luckily it wasn't enough to outdo gains the offense did make.

Kelder would only finish with 62 rushing yards. The fact that Auster kept pushing with Kelder kept the run somewhat established. Scoring was left almost entirely to the freshman QB and his receivers. Depzman spread the team's 3 TD passes to different receivers. Sadler, Ackerlund and TE Waugh each brought down scoring receptions.

Depzman went 17-25 with 201 yards. It was a solid outing, held together by tight defense. Unlike Imperial Military Academy, Auster established a tone on defense. 6'4 Freshman linebacker Drew Shillingford was able to successflly bring pressure on several occasions. All the D line had to do was hold onto their marks. Sometimes an O linesman would pin Shillingford back along with a Auster D-lineman.

Shillingford was also quick to shift and go after the opposing HB. A few times, Shillingford met Caltonic's running back behind the line to drop them for a loss. Jense Torkelson had a really strong night at cornerback.

Jaykae Sadler led all receivers with yards, pulling down 102. The 5'11 junior had a few big leaping catches along the corner of the field. One of his touchdowns came on a 22 yard corner route. Sadler leapt much higher than a typical 5'11 person might. He pulled down the catch, falling with the ball under control.

"This is exactly the kind of game we need", Sadler said after the match. Auster appears energized after their home win. They'll hope to keep momentum going in game 2 against Bowerstone. Now the team from across the two rivers will look to avenge their provincial rival of Imperial.

Alton McNair; The Lesser Son: Chapter 1

”GOD DAMMIT ALTON!” His Head Coach screamed at the top of his lungs, red in the face, headset on the ground as Alton McNair, younger brother of his the legendary Derek McNair, now a stud at Richardson University, the nation’a top program, tossed an incompletion after rolling out of the pocket.

The quarterback glared over at his coach, a 14 year old boy taking that kind of verbal abuse, unable to retort.

“I don’t care how athletic you think you are! You need to be disciplined in the pocket and make the throws!”

Alton stepped over towards him, not saying a word. It was just a scrimmage, but it might’ve cost him the starting job despite his pair passing passing touchdowns.

“I don’t care if you can run a 4.7 40! That’s not how we play football! And I don’t give a damn how many rushing yards your brother ha-“

And that was where Alton snapped, his eyes lighting up as he got into his coaches face, the nearly six foot tall, one hundred fifty five pounder, despite being thin for his height, still much taller and absolutely cut. “I AM NOT MY BROTHER!” Alton pulls his helmet off, almost nose to nose with his coach, “Don’t you ever DARE compare me to him! I’ve worked for everything I’ve had, and I’ll do what I do! NOT what he did!

The two proceeded to get into a screaming match with each other until Alton was pulled off by a pair of teammates, and another coach stood in front of their head coach. Alton went silent, putting his helmet back on and keeping his eyes downcast, shoulders quaking just slightly at regular intervals.

“Get Milton in there, dammit.” The Richardson head coach, in his first year, sent out last year’s starter, now a junior who had started for their last head coach in his final season, making it to the third round of the playoffs. Their coach now, Eli Dent, was still angry, and you could hear disgust in his voice as McNair stalked over to the corner of the sideline, where everyone else happened to not be standing. He was accompanied only by sophomore Calvin Hale, who had been his brother’s top target a year ago despite being a freshman at the time.

“Bro, you’re good, Coach will come around, he just don’t see your talent yet man.” Calvin was a close friend, but the fact that he caught so many balls from Derek only made it worse for Alton, who got down on his hands and knees and cried, seen only by the few who weren’t paying attention to the scrimmage. He’d never felt so alone, so isolated. And it felt like he’d never escape the brand of being his brother’s biggest wannabe act.

After the half-game long scrimmage, when Alton was walking down to the locker room, helmet on, head bowed, trying to hide his face from the crowd, he saw, out of the corner of his eye, his brother, whom had come to the game, as he didn’t have a game until the following week, pull their head coach aside.

And even if it was good intentioned, it only made it sting even more, bitter thoughts swirling in his head.

I don’t need your help, he thought, I’m not you, and I won’t follow in your footsteps. I’ll blaze my own trail.

Later, at home, Alton was silent, slamming the door as he walked in, and then he stopped, his parents walking out in front of him, when he saw Derek. There was nothing but pity in his elder’s eyes, nothing he could blame him for. And it only made him even more furious.

“How you doin’ bro?” Derek stood up, walking over to him as Alton clenched his fists, scowling. It could easily be read as if he was about to cry, and that wasn’t wrong. But they weren’t tears of sorrow. When Derek put a hand on his shoulder, all the emotions, all of the resentment, came to a boil.

Get the hell off of me!” Alton struck his brother’s arm, shoving him away with the other. “Who the hell do you think you are!? I don’t need your pity, and I don’t need your help!” Alton took a step forward, looking up to the wired frame of his only brother, his idol and his scourge all at once.

“Al, what’s gotten in-“ their mother started until Derek raised a hand, instantly silencing her.

“Alton. Tell me what’s wrong.” There was still no anger in his eyes, even if there was confusion and, still, his worthless pity.

“What’s wrong?” The younger of the two laughed,”What’s wrong!? You are! Everything here is your fault!” He jammed a finger into his hrother’s chest, screaming at his point, “You ruined everything! It doesn’t matter what I do, how much I out in! You know what they’ll say!? ‘He never lived up to the legacy his brother built,’ ‘he didn’t work as hard as his brother,’ ‘he was good, but he wasn’t Derek!’ I’ll never be their perfect son! I’ll never be the best they’ve ever seen! And it’s all your fault!”

“Alton, I-“ Derek looked confused, lips parting as he found himself at a loss for words.

“Exactly! That’s it! You’ll never understand, because you’re too perfect, you’re too talented, you were given everything, everything that i put my blood and sweat in to work, you were god given with! It’s disgusting!”

The tone in the room instantly changed then, as Derek took in what his brother said. He was talented, yes, but he’d worked every day, given everything he had, to get to where he was. And he took a step forward, glaring down at his younger brother. “The Hell did you just say to me?”

The rage subsided to an extent immediately, fear welling up inside him, but he wasn’t backing down now. “You fucking heard me.”

In an instant, the two were tangled up, Derek shoving his younger brother into the kitchen counter and grabbing him, only for Alton to swing, catching his brother on the jaw and diving at his legs, bringing him to the ground in what could Be described as a form tackle, the impact causing a couple plates next to their sink to fall, shattering on impact. Alton wasn’t done, pulling back to swing again, but Derek was faster, grabbing his brother by the shoulders and hurling him to the side, quickly getting to his feet

Their mother cried out from behind their father, who want much of a fighter, and was well out of his comfort zone. . “Alton! Enough!” But the fact that she called him out, and not his brother, only made him angrier, getting up and charging again, but Derek was faster, more agile, stepping away from the coming blow, more worried about ending the conflict than putting his brother down.

His arms shot under the his younger brother’s shoulders, growling “Alton! It’s done!”

“To hell with you!” Alton screamed, all of his fury just fueling him as he arched up, dumping Derek over his shoulders and, when his brother tried to stand, gripping his hair in both hands and bringing a knee up, smashing into his forehead.

Derek yelped, standing up, staggered, and moved a hand down to find support after being dazed, bleeding from his scalp and knocking over more silverware, panting. His gaze came up as he gained his orientation, anger flashing through his eyes, and Alton realized that he’d gone too far, taking a step back in fear, but he barely saw the lunch coming, his vision flashing when Derek’s fist landed on the side of his head, the first strike he’d thrown, sending him to the ground. He tried to get up, but Derek picked him up, furious, “You spoiled brat. I’ve done so much for you.” He held the dazed freshman in front of him, his brother, his best friend until tonight.

With a twist of his hips, it was over, Derek tossing Alton into the wall with his freakish strength, the latter yelping in pain as the drywall cracked under the impact.

A moment of silence passed, Derek panting and Alton struggling to breathe, before the elder snorted, turning on his heel and walking out. “I’ll stay with Tony. I don’t need this shit.”

And as he walked out, Alton began to sob.

That was his brother, who had always supported him, whom had always been by his side.

It wasn’t his fault what had happened, or that his legacy made Alton’s very existence harder, and the love, among with he hatred, was almost unbearable.

What to expect:The team plays a Smashmouth offense. Expect a lot of runs and the TE to be used for blocking. The defence is fairly good, but somewhat lacking in the linebacker positions. The QB of the team isn't afraid to run for the end zone.

RP Permissions:Don't do anything crazy. You can rp injuries, but only minor. You can decide the scorers, but make sure the scorers are usually the fullbacks and tailbacks as the team plays a running offense. TG me if you want to do something extreme.

Warriors hit the road in NSCF
by Aaron Hardison
UC Correspondent for The Times

After 2 home victories to kickoff the NSCF season, University of the Commonwealth will hit the road for the first time as they travel to Thergaon, the capital of South Bhoom to take on the College of Sport. It's become a bit of a guessing game for the staff and players wondering what the visit to a new nation might bring about.

Coach Scott Newell tried to help clear up confusion. "Well, we know that they are a college that has an emphasis on sport. (laughs) But no, I suppose that means they train physical education teachers, coaches, other sorts of professions that have a connection. We know the country is Hindu, so we will probably not be having beef for the pre-game meal. Otherwise, we don't know much else. They've gotten pretty outclassed in the first two games."

Newell believes that the upcoming matchup between the previous two opponents--Loirgrunzood and St Leon, meeting at President's Park--will help set the pecking order of the Mineral Conference the rest of the way. "I hate to say things like this, but I think they (LU & USL) and us are the teams to beat. Now watch us go and lay an egg against one of the other 3 just to teach me lesson. I think LU will only get better the rest of the way, and USL plays a style that will carry them a long way in NSCF; good defense is at a premium and even if they didn't look that solid against us, I don't see them giving up 30 or 40 to anyone else."

Speaking of the Raiders, Newell commented on the game that saw the sides battle back and forth until a late Vanel Dossous TD grab allowed UC to pull away for the 40-27 win. "You know, it's a lot easier to prepare for a team you know, and obviously they know us, so it's not surprising at all that it was a back and forth game. I think both Kevin (Meredith) and I were both disappointed that the schedule rotation worked out so that we didn't get a chance to play this year. This is a rivalry that is bigger than one game or one year, It's part of what makes our schools what they are. After the last NSCF season, I still think that it's tougher to win games week in and out in Baker Park, because everything is so close: the emotion, the knowledge, the history of almost every opponent you play follows you. I don't like losing, but even I can appreciate how much community spirit and emotional investment goes into something like a win over UC, or one of the other big schools."

Tucker Wolfe; The Path of Icarus: Chapter 1

Play by play announcer and Analyst at Richmond High School football game, week 1

Ill tell you what Paul, when this Wolfe kid beat our Tanner Fears for the starting job, I was skeptical. I mean, yes, he was ridiculously prolific in middle school, but who would’ve thought that he would immediately be this good in high school?

Well, Mark, this Tucker Wolfe has been something tonight. He’s shown incredibly commond of the offense, and seems to have changed the play multiple times at the line of scrimmage, something you don’t see out of most collegiate quarterbacks. And he’s been very aware of where everyone is on the field. It’s almost as if it’s all slow-motion for him.

Here in the fourth quarter, he’s already shown that he has the arm to whip it all over the field. He’s thrown a few balls forty plus yards as a freshman, and that’s all added up to a couple hundred yards and four touchdown passes.

This kid could be special, yes sir, and I can’t wait to see how his career ends up.

For Tucker Wolfe, he was on top of the world, his head in the clouds. This was everyrhing he could’ve dreamed of. He was constantly being bombarded with praise in the local papers, the entire school was cheering his name, and his team was up 38-20 with a minute left in the fourth quarter.

He laughed as he took the play, looking back at his senior running back, “Hey Cole, pound one more in, why don’t ya?”

The big bruiser laughed, taking his stance, “Sure thing lil’ Cap.” That’s what they’d started calling him once he took the starting job.

He took the snap and handed it off, not carrying out his fake, jogging in a wide loop after handing it all. He heard someone shout a warning, and turned to watch the play just in time to see a flash of white jersey before he was smashed into the ground, shoulder first.

Wolfe cried out in pain and surprise, a flash of pain going through his shoulder, and his back, when he hit, the referee immediately throwing a flag and informing the player that he was going to be suspended for the next two games.

Tucker rolled onto his stomach, pushing himself up and getting to his feet with a grimace. He gave the defensive lineman, who was stalking off the field, the bird before looking to his running back.

“Hey, you alright there Lil’ Cap?” Cole seemed concerned, tensed up as if he were prepared to catch Wolfe. But he waved him off.

“I’m fine, I’m fine.” He stood up, ignoring the slight pain in his shoulder, and took the call. It was a play action pass. Smart call, they were up two scores, and the other team had two timeouts with four minutes on third and eight.

He took the snap and rolled out. He’d never been fast, but he didn’t need to be, looking downfield and pulling back...

And then it happened.

He got hit again. This time it was clean, a safety blitz that he’d seen, and planned to attack, but hadn’t timed correctly.

Everything flashed, Wolfe’s back arching as his back and shoulder lit up in pain, a scream that he couldn’t hear escaping his lips, the ball still in hand, somehow.

He didn’t let go of it until the first responders in the ambulance put him under.

When he woke up, he saw his father and mother, and the looks on their faces were enough for him to know that the worst had happened.

But even then, he couldn’t help but break out in tears when he heard the news.

His shoulder was torn. He was out for the season. He might never play football again.

He’s gone from flying in the light of the sun to crashing to the ground in two plays.

And for all of his work, and grit, how could he overcome this?
Fan of football, the Murican kind. But soccer is cool too! Just not really my thing. C(:^D/-<

Cold Hill University Buffalo @ Richardson University Governors

Image

In the cold weather of Richardson's Dietrich Stadium, shared with the Fenrirs of the Ranorian Football League, Thorn Davis took snaps before the game, making sure to get his arm warm and ready for the fight ahead, throwing quick outs, slants, and even lobbing a few deep bombs that traveled over 60 yards before he truly felt comfortable. It was he and his #1 receiver, Jarett Hauptmann, who were the last ones to leave the field in the pregame, Davis wanting to make sure he felt just right on his arm, and both wanting to perfect their timing with one another.

Neither was particularly worried about whether or not they would win the game. Their focus was on how much they would win this game by.

Cold Hill had stormed through the Ranorian College Football Playoffs with an average margin of victory of 16.7 points in their three games in the tournament, smashing through the first round against Memphis, whom had knocked out Richardson in the first round, by a whopping 52-29 blowout. Their second game, against Vricksinburg State, one of the nation's premier contenders, was the only competitive contest in the span, a 42-35 shootout, before they blew out the 2nd seeded Southern University 40-20. Richardson? As stated earlier, they'd fallen in the first round to Memphis.

The worst part, you might ask?

Well, they hadn't gotten to see the Governors in the domestic season.

They had a bone to pick with the Governors squad that had knocked them out in the Ranorian championship three consecutive times, and then not even had the nerve to face them at their peak. They were here to drag this squad, a Richardson team that wasn't quite up to the program's standard, into the depths of mediocrity.

And the way they saw it, there wasn't any way that they could fail to achieve their assigned task.

Davis lofted one last ball up to Hauptmann, watching it sail into his receivers hands with a satisfied smirk, "That's enough Jarrett! Let's head in, only got a few minutes before the funeral starts!"

In the Richardson locker room, Tucker Wolfe was looking down, a towel over his head. To an outside observer, he could have been just quietly readying himself for the fight ahead. Well, that is, if not for the foot that he couldn't stop tapping on the ground.

Why had Cold Hill had to come up so early on the schedule? And, at that, it might have been better if he wasn't the starting quarterback, because whoever won the start in this game was almost predestined to lose the job after they were made to look silly. But then again, at least here in Richardson, with the home crowd at their backs, it might be McNair who got thrust in, and he wasn't an incredibly gifted passer. Chineze, however...was a different story.

Chineze hadn't mastered the playbook yet, and he still made the occasional mental error, but the true freshman was rapidly improving his game, and everyone could see it. With his off-the-charts arm talent, his taking the spot was seen only as a when, not an if, to most analysts, and that could mean the end of Wolfe's run at the helm.

"Yo," he looked up, seeing Calvin Hale, the team's up and coming redshirt freshman wideout, "You're good bro," he pointed up to the ceiling, from where you could here the now-assembled Richardson crowd's chants emanating, "There's a lot of people out there saying we don't got a shot, you know what we think about that. It don't matter. What we did, and what we gonna do, on that field," he pointed outside to their game field, "That's what matters."

There was no doubt in the high school stud's eyes, no doubt at what they were going to do, and who they were going to stun, and who was going to come out on top. Honestly, it was inspiring, and for a brief moment, Wolfe shared in that feeling of invincibility.

"Hell yeah Calvin," he shook the young man's hand with a nod, "We're not here to bend over and let them roll through."

Calvin nodded, walking away, but turned around just before he reached the gatorade, "Nah dog, we're here to send their asses home." And just as Hale took down his small cup of yellow gatorade, the referee signaled that they were good to go out, and Hale yelled at the top of his lungs to the whole team, whipping his cup into the trash can as he did, "Ya'll here that!? You here me!?" Hale thrust his helmet on and spun around in front of the gate, a redshirt freshman showing his fire, "We're gonna send their asses home!"

Image

The Governors walked out of the locker room until they reached the very end, standing in reverence for the Ranorian National anthem for only a moment, but when the last chord was struck, they were in a frenzy, with Calvin Hale, who had taken his spot near the back, taking the front again, riling up the Richardson crowd before standing at their logo on the fifty yard line and letting out a cry of pent-up excitement. This was their rivalry game, this was where he wanted to explode.

And as he stared across the field at the corners on the Cold Hill sideline, where the Buffalo didn't seem to carry near the same level of excitement, he caught the eye of Clarence von Arris, and pointed at the sophomore corner, who nodded at him and nudged their defensive coordinator, pointing towards Hale.

If he'd been closer, he would have seen the "I want Hale," on on Arris's lips, but he didn't need to see it to know that he'd just ensured that he was going to get the best corner on the Cold Hill squad across from him.

He heard the coaches calling him to take his spot as kick returner alongside senior speedster Dylan Tweed, and gave the coaching staff a thumbs up behind his back, smirking and nodding over to von Arris for a few backwards steps before spinning around with a hop and running towards his designated spot, the left kick returner position. Because of course they wanted the ball. This was their stadium, and they knew exactly how this one was going to play out.

Tucker Wolfe scowled, looking at the Cold Hill front. Their front seven had five guys who could rush the passer from the first two levels of the defense, but he was a quick-game, rhythm passer for the most part, so that wouldn't be a problem.

He had Calvin Hale and established star Kieran Kweo-Atkison out wide, and he knew who he was going to before he even took the snap. Hale was ready, and it would simply be wrong not to give him a chance to make a play here.

So, when he took the first snap, Wolfe took a three step drop, looking to Atkison, but Klara North, the female corner, was in coverage and in good position to make a play on the football. So when he shifted to Hale, despite Clarence von Arris being in tight coverage, he pulled back and fired the to the man on the post, silently celebrating when Hale went up and took the ball in the air on a fifteen yard completion. He was already starting to feel his confidence brimming. They may have been overmatched against this Cold Hill squad, but they weren't going to go quietly by any stretch.

This time, when he took the snap, it was a handoff to Benjamin Morgan, but Deangelo Gordon wasn't having it, busting through the offensive line and swallowing him whole for a loss of three on the play. Wolfe silently cursed, looking to the sideline. If John Garrett had been on the field, he'd have called the play himself on 2nd and long, but Wolfe didn't have that type of mind and knowledge of the game. Steinheil called a play-action pass, and Wolfe nodded. It was a deeper route, but his tight end should come wide open across the middle, and that was where he intended to go with the play action, faking the handoff to Morgan and immedietely looking to Gunther Krause, who was running a deep crosser about twenty yards downfield. Jakeem Butler was in the area, and closing, but he whipped the ball towards his target, hoping to get it there before the linebacker got any closer.

Unfortunately, as he watched, his arm strength failed him, the ball floating just a bit as Butler reached out, just barely managing to snag it out of the air. The crowd instantly let out a collective groan of frustration as Calvin Hale brought down the defender at the forty yard line, Cold Hill's sideline evidently thrilled by the development, quarterback Thorn Davis coming off the field and jumping into Butler, the two obviously excited about the turnover.

Wolfe, meanwhile, cursed when he came off the field, the chants already starting.

Mc-Nair, Mc-Nair...

The rest of the sideline promptly ignored the chants, even as they ate at Tucker Wolfe's already shaken confidence. But maybe they wouldn't pay too badly for his mistake, as Thorn Davis immediately went deep to his #1 wideout, Jarett Hauptmann, but, while their corner, Millard Johnson, looked like he was going to get beaten, Judas Wolfson, the team's enforcer of a safety, came down, leaping shoulder-first into Hauptmann's ribs and causing the ball to go flying. The three ended up the ground, and Hauptmann waved for a flag that, frankly, Wolfson seemed surprised to not see.

Davis shrugged, rolling his shoulders at the incompletion, and the next play was a handoff, a trap play that saw their own running back, Hue Ross, cut to the right side of the line, but he, too, was stopped in his tracks, Banijan sophomore Isaiah Bryce laying him out in the backfield for a loss.

3rd-and-11. The defense was playing inspired football, and the Governor's offense just seemed like they were going to get another shot at this one, despite Cold Hill only being a mere forty yards from scoring.

Well, that's what they were thinking, anyway.

Douglas Starling, pinning his ears back, exploded off the line, beating the tackle off the ball and immediately getting to the quarterback, Thorn Davis. For a moment, it even seemed like he would bring him down, but the 6'5", 250 pounder shrugged it off, and took off, bursting through the line and taking an angle for the goal post, speeding by linebackers who simply couldn't get to him quick enough.

Judas Wolfson was closing fast, and Davis saw him, diving and reaching the ball just as the safety came in for a hit, Davis low enough that the enforcer just glanced off the back of his pads. It wasn't enough to prevent a touchdown.

The Richardson crowd exclaimed once again after seeing the play, their top-ranked Ranorian defense having surrendered a huge, 40 yard rushing touchdown.

And when Tucker Wolfe strapped back up, he feared things wouldn't get much better.

By the start of the second quarter, Richardson was down 13-0 after a pair of drives stalled out with fifty total yards of offense behind Wolfe. Fortunately, he hadn't turned the ball over again, and the defense had managed to hold the Buffalo to only a pair of field goals. But, unlike most coaches, Steinheil knew when to move on, and Wolfe was shaken, his confidence gone, just like his arm. "Alton!" He barked, the running threat immediately at his side, "Warm up with Chineze. You're going in"

"Yes sir!" Steinheil didn't even look to watch him walk away, as another third down was upon them. Fortunately, Emmanuel Miller was able to beat Kevin Eakin for a sack of Thorn Davis, but they needed to get the ball moving, and fast, or this game would get out of hand.

And here we have it folks, Steinheil has already made a change at quarterback, with Alton McNair taking the field. Fans have been calling for this kid to have the job for months, now let's see if it works out.

He takes the snap and there's immediately pressure up the middle. McNair rolls out, and he's got room, gone! The Cold Hill defense forces him out after a fifteen yard gain, but he's not looking like this is too big a spot for him by any stretch.

McNair was calm, tossing the ball to the referee, and proceeded to drive his squad down the field, and into the fifteen yard line, where he took the snap in the shotgun and whipped the ball to a streaking Calvin Hale, the redshirt freshman going up and snagging the ball out of the air, clutching it to his chest in an effort maintain posession, and that's exactly what he did to get Richardson on the board.

At that point, the crowd got involved, chanting the young quarterback's name as the score went to 13-7, Cold Hill's Thorn Davis getting another shot at it, but they were quieted once again when the Buffalo drove down the field, a quick shovel pass to Caleb Katterfield on the four yard line resulting in a second touchdown for the offensive powerhouse, which had now managed a 20-point half on this strong Governor defense, a feat that only a handful of squads had pulled off in an entire game in the regular season.

That made it 20-7, and Richardson simply took a knee to end the half with 4 seconds left to go.

Cold Hill, of course, went into their locker room ecstatic, feeling that they could continue to pile up those points and put this Richardson squad into the dirt, while their opponent, the home squad, was silently fuming.

But rather than come out stagnant, defeated, they came out like shot from a cannon in the second half.

On the first play from scrimmage, Douglas Starling beat Kevin Eakin a second time, screaming off the edge and bringing Thorn Davis down hard for a loss, avenging the earlier missed tackle. On the second play, again a pass, Steinheil brought the heat, and this time it was Isaiah Bryce, the stud linebacker, who came crashing down on a blitz, breaking down the massive passer.

And on the next play, third and 20, they blitzed again, bringing Alexander Carthage off the edge, and he went unblocked. Davis, knowing he had little time, threw one up to his #1 in Jarrett Hauptmann, who was almost always a safe bet.

But then came Judas Wolfson.

The safety leapt up in the air and took it out of the hands of Hauptmann, the deep shot at least flipping the field, but it was the first turnover of the game, and the crowd loved it, the energy of the stadium instantly restored, Wolfson breaking a pair of tackles and getting the ball up to the thirty yard line, easily in field goal range. And when Derek McNair took the field, the momentum was all theirs.

It didn't mean that Cold Hill wasn't coming, edge rusher Earnest Longhorn screaming off the edge, but McNair showed off his mobility, rolling out of the pocket and hitting Kieran Kweo-Atkison for a first down over Clara North, tossing a touchdown to the same wideout two plays later.

With the game tighter, the Cold Hill offense managed to get a drive going, but they stalled out on a pass that freshman corner Spencer Houston broke up.

And Richardson, along with McNair, drove down again for a score, this one a thirteen yard rushing score from their electric talent at quarterback, putting the game up to 20-20, Deangelo Gordon powering through to block the point after.

By now, early in the fourth quarter, it was evident that the crowd noise was getting to Thorn Davis, the Buffalo offense, panicking now, sputtering out after twenty or so yards.

And when Richardson got the ball, they took off. By now, Vice Jackson III had come in at running back, the other two having been ineffective, and he was the catalyst of the drive, with thirty seven total yards on a seven minute long march that ended on a touchdown reception for Kieran-Kweo-Atkison, and a second touchdown pass for Alton McNair. Shaken from the earlier block, Richardson's kicker missed the point after, but a three and out by the Buffalo, with a 26-20 lead for Richardson, made the game seem all but over.

With three minutes left, Richardson played ball control, but only managed two yards on as many carries, and Cold Hill's two timeouts meant that they hadn't burned much clock. So when they went for a first down, McNair rolling out of the pocket and firing, the Buffalo were ready.
The mobile passer fired towards his tight end, Gunther Krause, but his confidence in his arm got the better of him. With two minutes left in the game, Jakeem Butler came down with his second interception of the game, and the crowd went silent, the electric energy in Dietrich Stadium whittling away far too fast for a team with a great defense that had the lead.

Image

And all they could do was watch as Thorn Davis and his offense burned off the last of the clock, firing a last-second touchdown pass to tight end Jabari McNair to win it, 27-26.

Calvin Hale, who had poured his heart and soul into an 8 catch, 113 yard performance, fell to his knees, and the entire Richardson program felt its spirits sink. No one had given them a chance coming into this one, and they'd fought with everything they had to take that chance.

All it had gotten them was their first loss of the NSCF season.

Match day 2&3 Results

Postby One Jamaica » Wed Oct 03, 2018 8:10 pm

After a stunning inaugural week 1 30-6 victory, the Tecumseh University Raiders came out week 2 on the road versus TN University. The Raiders were sluggish with multiple turnovers and unsustained drives that lead to a 3-0 win. Head coach McCreary said that his boys need to learn how to move on week to week win or lose. Week ones victory clearly got to everyone’s head. Quarterback Ray ‘Quan Smith was not the same QB we seen last week and throughout his high school career turning the ball over multiple times and was clearly frustrated with himself. Smith still finished the day with a respectable stat line throwing for 240 yards 1 int and 1 lost fumble. He had a better outing week three at home versus powerhouse Richardson University putting up 302 yards and 2 TDs but came up short with a 16-10 loss. Richardson star QB Alton McNair had a sluggish game against the Raiders with 289 yards 1 TD and 2 ints. Tecumseh’s defense had answers to everything Richardson threw there way and finished with 2 interceptions 3 forced fumbles with 2 recovered and 3 sacks.

Week four will put Tecumseh on the road at Cold Hill University. Many analysts in One Jamaica are saying this matchup could be the beginning of a rivalry and everyone is anxious for kickoff. Junior QB Thorn Davis will look to continue his all star playing against a defense looking to take over the Big 8 conference. Through the first three weeks defensive leaders, all star DE Derrick McFadden and shut down CB Michael Moss have lead their defense to a conference best 23 points against.

Hawkers and Wolverines hunted St Leon and Cittapura on their 3rd match on NSCF19
Image
That was tittle from Loirgrunzodd Herald Sports Section

Our boys made it again obtaning another victory on their respectives games on the MD3 Hawkers got out with the victory against Baker Park school the University of St-Leon 20-19 thanks to a field goal scored by Luke Wilson on the 45-yard line on fourt quarter after the two minute warning after that our defense had the weight of the team on their shoulders and managed it extremely well thanks to a intercepted pass by Safety Jason Clint when RedRaiders QB Jordan Schaeffer could not handle the pressure and throwed a long pass ending up on the interception hawkers got the ball with just only 0:50 on the clock with their two timeouts but decided to take knee and give an end to the match but the only thing i will remember from this match will be former Hawkers QB Michael Robertson giving a handshake and a hug to RedRaiders QB Jordan Schaeffer as a demostration of humility and respect to the opponent, speculating i would say that he probably got some memories when he started his first NSCF season on last year so what about our Wolverines? they got another beastly game with beastly results winning University of Cittapura 48-6 with QB this time HC McMichael decided to go with the bench giving a chance to QB Mark Mason and RB Marcus Peterson,WR were rotated through out the plays what we got? an extreme combination Markson had 600 yrds game with 5 TD passes and Peterson got a 1002 yard game with two TD except for the field goal that was failed even basing on my information German Zoros titularity is in danger after the match coach McMichael said there would be surprises this is one of them what is he planning? we will know it on the way

Auster Defeats Toughest Team In Conference

QB Joshua Depzman faced the toughest defense of his collegiate career when the freshman faced up against Ceneisis Naval Academy. Ceneisis is a team which seems to be the perennial conference champion. Auster was off to a hot 2-0 start. The Vangazi hoped to win one more and secure their hold on the top of the group.

Both teams stacked up as primarily defensive teams. Depzman is a solid quarterback. He's still new at the position. Auster's offense is still coming together. They've had great games in NSCF 19. Part of this is because of the chances Auster's defense gives to the offense. From the start of the Ceneisis-Auster game, it was clear this was going to be a slugfest.

Cenesis and Auster had quiet, if not ugly, 1st quarters. Depzman was having trouble finding his receivers. There was little separation from the Vannish receivers and the defending cornerbacks. The first drive was one of Depzman's worst as he threw his first interception.

TE Deandrae Waugh sprinted up the right side before cutting 90 degrees to the middle of the field. Pressure was getting to Depzman. As he stepped up to throw, his pass was short. Cornelius Millikan of Ceneisis was practically gifted the interception as the pass seemed to go right towards the MLB.

Josh threw a second pick just before halftime. Auster was in the red zone on a 2nd and 12. Depzman backed up and once again found himself caught in the path of approaching pressure. While targeting Jaykae Sadler, the pass once again fell short. This time, Juanita Stephenson carried the ball for a few yards in the opposite direction before being taken down by Depzman himself.

"I hope this doesn't ruin how well my rookie NSCF season has looked", said Depzman. "Know this about me. I'm a fighter. This is a tough defense. But Auster can prevail."

The Vannish QB knuckled down in the second half. His completion percentage improved. A few big passes added to his average yards per reception. He threw a beautiful 62 yard pass to Nick Ackerlund. It was a playaction call which saw the receiver cross the field and go deep. Other receivers cut in different directions, pulling attention everywhere but that corner.

Unfortunately Anthony Kelder fumbled after taking a big hit on the 16 yard line. "I'm more of a speed back than a power back", said Kelder. "But I need to hold onto the football."

The game became a back and forth trade of big defensive stops. Jense Torkelson pulled a big interception late in the 4th quarter which may have saved Auster from a game winning red zone drive. Auster's defense also stepped up to bring pressure against an offensive line stronger than their own. 6'3 Lars Kaas seemed to have a really strong game

Auster's biggest flaw in regulation play was not getting into field goal range. This brought both teams into Overtime.

Now Depzman really stepped up. Auster won the coin toss and had the first drive. The TD came on a 17 yard pass to Jaykae Sadler. He targeted the CB which picked him off earlier. Sadler leapt over Stevenson in the end zone to bring home the only TD of the prime time night game at The Roost in Auster.

"It took a lot mentally to get through that game", sad Vangaziland's freshman quarterback. "In the end, it's a win that means a lot. The score is still close and we'll face this team again. It just lets us know that we have to stay on top of things." Depzman finished 15 for 23 with 198 yards. He had 1 TD and 2 INT. "The stats may not have been great, but it was a tough win against a great team."

Auster will square up against Imperial Military Academy for Game 4.

Imperial Establishes Foothold Against Kanjin U.

Imperial Military Academy entered the match against Kanjin University with only a +5 differential. The defense had given up a fair amount of points, with 65 allowed before the match against KU. The Rangers hoped to add to the differential in an effort to prepare for conference rival Ceneisis. IMA welcomed Kanjin to General Adelawson Field for an early day game.

IMA was hot from the start. The Rangers scored twice back to back. Their early plan appeared to be establishing the run. Mason Knightsen benefitted from this with a 7 yard TD run. The power back broke a big tackle before shunting his way into the end zone.

Imperial favored I-form and Shotgun sets especially. Sometimes they went with a 3 WR weak side formation. Imperial usually switched things up between targets. They often ran heavily and kept passing yards about even with that run game. "There's a method to our madness", said QB Charles Marlon. "Based on what we saw on the field today, we switched things up from the way we normally play."

When Bartt Nelson picked up a 34 yard TD on the second drive, it looked clear that IMA's receivers had the upper hand. Soon Imperial ran less and less. Nelson wasn't quite happy with this as the team's HB. On the way off the field at halftime, Knightsen could be seen getting in Marlon's face.

"The halfback is a freshman", Marlon said. "He thinks he should always have the ball. The truth is that we need to change things up sometimes." Marlon would throw 5 touchdowns with no interceptions and 420 yards.

Marlon found a great deal of success targeting Benny Banks in the 2nd half. They linked up for 293 receiving yards. Banks looked unstoppable on the field, moving in rare form. His cornerback just couldn't seem to keep Benny's pace. "I just had the upper hand", the senior said after his big game. He picked up 3 of Marlon's 5 TD passes. Banks was teased because the Kanjin Daily showed the wrong picture with his name in the caption.

"I wish I had such dark skin", said Banks. The receiver was also stockier than the pictured receiver. The picture actually showed Bartt Nelson's 34 yard reception. Benny Banks was known for his fair skin, black hair and blue eyes. "Vangaziland is definitely a multicultural place", Banks added. "Unfortunately, that's not me." He laughed with the reporter about the misidentification.

Randall Coolidge added 2 field goals for Imperial's monster victory. The defense also got on the scoreboard. A safety just before halftime gave Vangaziland 2 points needed to round out the half century mark.

"This was an all around victory", said DE Manny Huckstabee. "We really came together as a team... No.. As a program. We showed we have the international experience to do well in the tournament. We need to really show up against the newer teams."

Some players were focused more on the future. Strong Safety Darrell Higgins said, "We just have to stay consistent against the better teams too. With the way the early season is shaping up, it's also time to start thinking about the playoffs. We need to advance and make a mark there before we get confident."
