The South Fallsian National Hockey Team

Nation: The South Falls
Nation Code: TSF
Association: South Fallsian Hockey
Founded: League: 1964 - National Team: 1979
Best Result: N/A, as this is the first time playing in the WCoH
Nickname: Arctic Eagles

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:

Choose my goalscorers: Yes
Godmod scoring events: Yes - Make them as funny as you want
RP injuries to my players: Yea - It’s hockey, you’re always going to have injuries.
Godmod injuries to my players: No (Don’t literally cause my players to die)
Hand out penalties to my players: Yea
Godmod other events: Yea (Contact me from TG, and we can work it out through discord or sommat)
Style Modifier: +5

The South Fallsians are not disciplined, and will injure your players, almost at will. If you RP first, (because this is going to be late) in the second or third games, then please take into account that at least two players will be injured.

Formation - 2-1-2

Coaching Staff

Head Coach: A.H. Libertas
Assistant Offensive Coach: F.D. Reitzemann
Assistant Defensive Coach: Vladimir Kashtanov Kashtanovich
Assistant General Coach: Hakon Courtze
Assistant Goaltending Coach: Robert T. O’Rourk

Forward Line A:

43 - LW - G.R. L’erovin - 6’4” - 245lb - Oroton Oilers
52 - C - H.A. Fyodorovich - 6’6” - 261lb - Fallsatia Flames
16 - RW - Thomas O’Brien - 6’5” - 244lb - Suamico Superstars

Forward Line B:

22- LW - Antoine Smallman - 6’2” - 181lb - Fallsatia Falcons
34 - C - Georges Antilles - 6’6” - 195lb - Nunovland Lions
96 - RW - R.R. Tolheen - 6’1” - 234lb - Weinert Knights

Forward Line C:

8 - LW - LaVerne Gabriel - 6’1” - 211lb - Taxeter Hornets
99- C - Helge Maksym - 6’4” - 195lb - Cuga Ice-seamen
78- RW - Ilja Sunn - 6’2” - 222lb - Oroton Oilers

The offense of the South Fallsian team plays hard, fights hard, and serves their time in the penalty box. Expect checks from the 261-pound Fyodorovich, powerful enough to push a man down. This team, while seeming competent thus far back home, have never proved themselves on the world stage, in the WCoH. All three players were picked from the best back home, however it is not known how they will play on the world stage. Those players work with the highly offensive style of the South Fallsian team, as coached by Libertas, and followed up by Reitzemann.

Defense Line A:

3 - LD - Lewin Layton - 6’6” - 259lb - Hoxhak Plumbers
33 - RD - Talat Pasqualino - 6’4” - 248lb - Taxeter Hornets

Defense Line B:

44 - LD - Mattias Patrick - 6’3” - 244lb - Nyx Marines
4 - RD - Lynton Vaso - 6’4” - 233lb - Army Ice Hockey Corps

Defense Line C:

55 - LD - Keiran Topi - 6’5” - 250lb - Suamico Superstars
5 - RD - Cedar Teodor - 6’1” - 220lb - Weinert Knights

The South Fallsian team’s defense is substantially weaker than their offense, even through having 6’6” players such as Lewin Layton. The defense is often de-prioritized for the offense, at the cost of giving away many goals. Their weakness comes from the lack of speed of their defense, often being outfoxed by faster, lighter offenses. They also spend about ⅓ of a sixty-minute game in the penalty box, on average, so it does not help their case.

Goaltenders:

1 - G - T.C. MacEleston - 6’8” - 293lb - Navy Ice Hockey Corps
22 - G - Kamil Yoshiro - 6’1” - 265lb - Haktown Highmen
99 - G - Veselin Elias - 6’4” - 232 - Fallsatia Flames

The goaltending line is inexperienced. While possessing large men like T.C. MacEleston, the goaltending line is filled with emerging, young players, just like the rest of the team. With an average of four goals allowed per game, the weakness of the goaltenders combined with the defense’s lack of playing ability work against the South Falls in entireity.

PP Unit A:

L’erovin - Fyodorovich

PP Unit B:
Smallman - Tolheen

PK Unit A:

Fyodorovich - O’Brien

PK Unit B:

Antilles - Tolheen

‭Shuang Gao was pleasantly surprised by how well his trip to Anthor for the World Cup of Hockey was going. The national hockey team had won both of their first two games, scoring an impressive 11 goals. They hadn't played their toughest opponents yet, so there was no guarantee that they would stay first place in their group, but it still felt good to be there.

‭Jiyon Wu forgot how badly lactose intolerant he was -- or maybe just didn't understand the menu at the place he stopped for a snack -- and ate a big ice cream cone before game 2. He was too sick to play, but the offense was still on a roll as Gao and Namri kept the pressure on.

‭Gao's family had stayed home in Xiamen. Between that and the government's insistence that he had to have a body guard with him at all times, he wasn't expecting to enjoy his stay much between games. But now that he was actually in Kirkwall and the body guard assigned to him turned out not to be too obnoxious, it wasn't bad. Gao and his wife had argued about whether she should come or not, but now that they were apart and not arguing with each other, he found that being apart didn't bother him so much.

‭The body guard was a Muslim, which meant that once in a while he would ask to stop what they were doing so he could say his prayers, but he asked politely and didn't get too upset if his prayer schedule was thrown off by a few minutes because they were in the middle of something. Gao thought the prayers were stupid, but it was still less annoying than having a body guard that was constantly on high alert. This guy seemed to think nothing was going to happen, and he was just there to collect a paycheck and appease some bureaucrats. He didn't regard random Anthoran shopkeepers or restaurant patrons as a threat, so Gao could go out and enjoy the city without being constantly pestered.

The Alpine Union crushed by Elejamie

Inverness City, Anthor - (NAP) After defeating Neo-Romanum 5-1, the Bisons came back on earth and got destroyed 6-2 against defending champions Elejamie. Bolli Stadium in Inverness City was sold out with a lot of fans from both sides and some locals from Anthor too. With about 15 minutes remaining in the 1st period, Elejamie was on a 3 on 1 with Cerin Meloten carrying the puck and passing it to Stacy Saunders who passed the puck to Anatoly Kasputin who shoots and scores and Elejamie were leading 1-0. Samuel Schöpf on defense looked confused and didn't know what to do to counter the 3 on 1. 3 minutes later we had a faceoff at the end zone faceoff circle. Paul Morton wins the faceoff against Peter Sundin. Carlos Sierra recieves the puck and shoots, Jenni Kekäläinen makes the save but doesn't control the puck and Lucas Madgwick picks it up and shoot it into the net, it's a goal for Madgwick assisted by Sierra and Morton who won the faceoff and Elejamie is leading 2-0. With 7 minutes remaining in the 1st period, Peter Sundin takes the puck into Elejamie's zone and shoots. Peter Berg makes the save but doesn't control the rebound, Peter Sundin takes his own rebound and passed to Fredrika Laine who shoots and scores. Elejamie's lead is cut at 2-1. At the end of the 1st period, Anton Lundström is penalised for hooking and the Icy Elephants goes on the power play. 30 seconds late, Cerin Meloten scored a power play goal assisted by Stacy Saunders and they were leading 3-1 after one period.

Early in the 2nd period, Aaron Andrews dumps the puck in Bisons zone, Krzysztof Klepczynski and James Han are racing to get to the puck first. Han finally beats Klepczynski and passes the puck to Ethan Swinburne who shoots and scores. The Icy Elephants are leading 4-1. With 9 minutes remaing, Hampus Wiktorsson shoots the puck to the net and Peter Berg makes the save. Arkadiusz Zlomanczuk is insisting too much and hits Berg's glove with his stick. Ethan Swinburne doesn't likes it and pushes Zlomanczuk away. We have some pushing and shoving and then both Swinburne and Zlomanczuk drop the gloves! There's no clear winner and both players goes to the penalty box for 5 minutes. Elejamie's players are pumped by this fight and two minutes later Anatoly Kasputin carries the puck on a 2 on 1 with Cerin Meloten. Kasputin passed the puck to Meloten who passed it back to Kasputin. Kasputin shoots and scores. Elejamie is leading 5-1.

George Lincoln is penalised for tripping with 12 minutes remaining in the 3rd period and the Reprezentacja Alpejski goes on the power play. With 20 seconds remaining in the power play, Melania Zyskowska scorred assisted by her twin sister Emilia Zyskowska and Stanislaw Wojciechowski. Elejamie added another goal with 3 minutes remaining in the game when Stacy Saunders scored assisted by Anatoly Kasputin and Greg Warren. The Alpine Union lost 6-2.

The Alpine Union is 1/5 on the power play while Elejamie scored one goal in two power plays.

World Cup of Hockey MD2 Review
Mercedini vs Neu Engollon
@ Marshall City Forum - Furness City, Anthor

FINAL
WCOH | MD2

MERCEDINI 3
NEU ENGOLLON 4
(1-1) (1-0) (1-3)
Furness City, Anthor
With two matches on the board for the Mercedinian National Team, it's certainly clear that they weren't having their own way at the tournament as they surrendered their 100% record following a 4-3 loss against second seeded Neu Engollon at the Marshall City Forum. It means Mercedini are still in the mix to qualify for a knockout spot but have been pulled into a group of four nations who have all won one and lost one, with Neu Engollon the only team clearly out in front, having won both of their game thus far.

The teams went toe to toe for much of the match with Mercedini taking the lead briefly in the first period and then later in the second period, only to come undone by a Neu Engollon barrage in the third period where the team ranked 12th in the world scoring three times in the third period to see out what was ultimately a terrific performance from them. After scoring six goals and being practically run off the park by an energetic Free Republics side, the second and third lines couldn't carry the team to consecutive victories in the group, leaving the fans disappointed thus far and hoping that they will be able to claw back the deficit in either the reverse fixture or hope that other teams will do the dirty work for them and take advantage of dropped points from the teams around them. Practically every team in the group is still in contention with the possibility of there being numerous changes at the top before the end of the group stage. It's likely that teams will start to edge ahead at the top and be cut adrift at the bottom as the matches begin to come thick and fast for the teams involved at the 36th World Cup of Hockey.

While a comprehensive schedule has yet to be released by the event organisers, we are led to believe that Mercedini will play unranked Detroit-Sud in their next match at the World Cup of Hockey with many fans and pundits expecting Mercedini to get back on track following their defeat today. Mercedini have now played their two highest ranked opponents in the group and have had mixed results so far, they now have a great opportunity to get some serious points on the board and put themselves in a great position to go deep in the tournament.

Given the added pressure now on the Mercedinian team, it's likely that the first lines will get another run out onto the ice to try and run up the score, which could all add up if they are tied with multiple teams for crucial places in the group table. We have had some goal fests in the tournament so far with twelve currently the benchmark to beat, with two games reaching that monumental total on this match day alone. The firsts came when current hosts Anthor drew 6-6 with Cosumar, with the second featuring Cassadaigua and Ranoria with the former banging in goal after goal in a 9-3 drubbing in Group 3. While one nation hasn't asserted themselves as one to watch just yet, it's likely that some potential challengers will rear their head in the coming days.

While it was a disappointing day for Mercedinian fans, they can now regroup and focus on the matches ahead, it will be interesting to see how the group pans out as the results come in day after day.

The Hinodejin line-up mostly returns, the belief that they might've struck gold last time around being the main reason for that. The rising star of Shoma Taroshima might have to do with this, the young player being responsible for the Musketeers' first-ever HHC title.

Pine Park
Headquarters of the National Gendarmerie
Geneve, Geneva, Neu Engollon

Von Tindelberg had ceased being impressed, but to a fresh visitor to the Pine Park estate, it would drop a jaw. One had to take a shuttle bus from the main parking lot across the grounds to the main headquarters building. Along the way, nestled in the trees and among sloping hills were the obstacle course, forensics lab and school, numerous other laboratories and the data center which housed records and servers, some of the paper records going back at least a couple centuries, if not more, which included some of the first recorded instances of serial killers, at least in the Confederacy. Beyond a high hilly berm, safely tucked away from shuttle routes lay the firing ranges and shoot houses, where thousands of rounds could be expended in a week, if not mere days.

The NESA Director was, in essence, on foreign ground. He would hesitate to say 'enemy territory', but in many aspects, they were competing agencies for the same budget bestowed by the Foreign Assembly and Council. While NESA chiefs and deputy directors might brush it off, Pine Park Deputy Commissioners and higher ups saw it as a vital fight for their very survival. The fact that the Council had sided with NESA in their custody of the foreign agent had seriously rankled all of them, up to the Justice Minister, François Schiendl, and his second, Commissioner Jean-Pierre Etangel. Schiendl didn't hardly talk to him anymore, but he had strived to keep a good relationship with Commissioner Etangel. Now that had become even more strained by events over the course of the last year.

After exiting the shuttle bus, he was escorted by a young gendarme to where the Commissioner awaited him on an upper deck of the headquarrters, overlooking the vast grounds.

"Karl."

"Jean-Pierre. It's good to see you again." Director Von Tindelberg helped himself to tea from a cart parked on the balcony.

"I wish I could say the same, but...I don't feel that way. I dread what you have to tell me next."

"I'm sorry to hear that. I don't know that I have any better news than a few months before, but its certainly not any worse."

"I'm listening."

He took his first sip from the tea.
"We have done everything...Provided every transcript, We have been an open door towards our mutual prisoner..."

"Mutual prisoner?! Okay, okay. Point understood, but I don't know how much I agree with it. You are, by the letter, agreeing with our agreement. What do you want, Karl?"

"Okay...We want your back Southeast garden here on the estate, and we want your security."

"Monks Garden?"

"Monks Garden."

"Why?"

"For you know who. He needs air, space, time to breathe and think and break. What he gives us...He gives you and Pine Park, so, I don't understand the hesitation."

"We have taken a beating on this. The world is watching. We're supposed to trust you after all this time?!"

"Jean-Pierre, if you can't trust us, who can you trust?" He held out the tea cup in salute.

"Listen, Karl. I'll say this now. If we don't see results soon, you can find your own gardens."

"Understood, Jean-Pierre. I think we will find those results you are looking for..."

CASE #: 2371-55

1224E Part E: Subsequent Assessment Summary Attachment
Location: Undisclosed NESA facility, Geneve, Geneva, NE

Evaluating Clinician:
Dr. Celeste Baccardo, MD, PsyD,
NESA O-14 Co-Int. Specialist
Subject: Walther Liebsgott (Likely alias given)

Physicality and Appearance: Much more color to skin. He is putting on weight. Skeptical, but much more positive disposition
Biological Vitals: Primary is doing weekly exams. Nutrtition still an issue, but much improved from weeks previous.
Articles seized: See Part C

Assessment Summary Follows:

Subject <Liebsgott> has not cracked as far as espionage activities. More compliant in other aspects of incarceration. Decided to do park walk, anyway, despite admission of guilt still not forthcoming. Used special area of Pine Park estate, with that agency's permission and cooperation. Success still fleeting, but seemed like the walk went well.

I feel that the barriers are starting to crack, or at least some kind of cathartic change is happening. Walther is vocal in our daily sessions, if not always focused. There is no sense of malevolence from him and I have yet to ever see the precaution need for security during our sessions. I have visited his apartment once, to take our session there instead of the room, but made clear that that would be a rare occurrence. Still not clear on what triggered the withdrawing and unwillingness to participate in a session, despite the possible repercussions of which he was aware of.

Undisclosed NESA Prison
Geneva, Geneva, Neu Engollon

The current room they were in, and where all their sessions had taken place over the past few months, was what you would expect a typical psychiatrist's office to look like. There was a stained, tan corduroy couch that was comfortable, but had certainly seen better days. One utilitarian plastic chair in a corner. A moderate chair that Dr. Kasper always used, upholstered in solid pea green and a worn thin desk with some sort of plastic polyfiber legs. The picture on the wall that was always in Walther's vision changed about once a month. Always a scenic photo of some landscape in Neu Engollon. The other hanging picture in the room, a holographic image of a tree, never changed. Walther was certain the camera was behind it.

Walther rubbed at his wrists where the cuffs had been.

"Have a seat, Walther. I believe that corner of the couch is your favorite?"

"Am I supposed to be surprised that you watched all the video that wasn't 'supposed to be recorded'..." He used air quotes. "... and probably read my whole file?"

"No. Look, I'm good at my job. I'm going to use the tools available to be better at it. I'm Dr. Celeste, by the way."

"I figured that part out."

"Are we just going to fence our first session, Walt?"

"Well, apparently I got nothing but time, so..."

"I think we can do better, Walt."

He smiled a devilish smile. "No big burly guards in here to fend off the 'ebol Austrak rapist spy'?" He used air quotes again.

"Should I have guards in here for such an event?"

"You tell me. Can never be too careful, right?"

"This is the first time we've met, Walt, but I have studied you. I know that I have nothing to be afraid of."
He sat back, deflated and slightly defeated. "We'll see."

"We're going to work together, and you need my trust, as much as I need yours. I will tell you now that I can't promise you that you will walk free soon, but in time, I think we can find an environment where you are more comfortable and not feeling you need to watch your back always."

"I doubt it, but I'd like to see you try."

"What if I told you that there's a secure park you could walk through. Somewhere we could both keep you secure and my superiors happy that we were all secure..."
At his quizzical look, she continued: "You have to realize that there's many people in the Confederacy that want to see you dead?"

"I get that feeling from some in this very facility. That's not why I was puzzled at what you were saying."

"Oh. Well, yes...If you cooperate with us and get serious about working with us, there's a lot of incentive for you.

“There we go. Freedom is the bribe….But it’s not rreally freedom, right?”

"Freedom from your conscience. I'm on your aide, Walt!"

Walther'Liebsgott' laughed hard and long at that.

“And the first star of tonight’s game, with 4 goals and 1 assist, from Siovanija and Teusland, Razvigor Tsvetanov!”

Razvigor Tsvetanov had heard his name called many, many times over the last few years. Sports radio shows calling him the ‘chosen one,’ a few awards here and there, goal announcements, and, like tonight’s game, returning to the ice to salute the fans in recognition of his performance. Completing his lap of honour, Tsvetanov spotted out of the corner of his eye a young boy, maybe about 8 years old. Sitting in a large crowd of Goldhorns supporters travelling to Anthor for the tournament, and wearing a jersey with his own name on the back, Tsvetanov skated over and gave the boy his stick. “You’ve just made his entire life,” he heard the boy’s father call as he skated away.

From personal experience, Razvigor Tsvetanov knew that might be true on this night. When he was 8 years old, just to have seen his favourite hockey player would have left him completely star struck, unable to move. A game-used stick? That would have put him on cloud 9 for weeks, months even. A brief thought flashed through his mind. He remembered how childhood friends would call him ‘boring.’ His entire life was hockey: up early for practice, then back home playing in the driveway, dinner, and then watch an Admirala Pomorie game on television before bed. Every Saturday night, he’d stop whatever he was doing to be able to watch ‘Hockey Night in Siovanija and Teusland,’ because it was the only night his parents would allow him to watch past the first period before bed. Friends who didn’t share that extreme passion, however, could never understand why he’d never hang out with them. Why he could never sleep over on Saturday nights. ‘Boring’ was the word they used.

Nobody would call Razvigor Tsvetanov boring now. He was the face of a countless number of products, and he stood on billboards across the country. A typical commercial break might see him advocating for a product at least three different times. Tsvetanov, while always staying humble and remembering his beginnings, lived the life of a superstar as well. Sports cars, fancy suits and first-class was his style. His $4.2 million mansion in the hills above his hometown Pomorie was front-page news when he acquired it. And who could forget his personality. Tsvetanov never really learned English or Teus, two major languages in the country. He butchered the languages constantly in interviews, but that only endeared him more to the fans. Anything Tsvetanov said instantly goes viral. “Wheel snipe celly,” coined in a post-game interview after a win at the Odin Cup 2 years ago, quickly became a popular catch-phrase in the country.

At first, the attention bothered Tsvetanov. Why him? What was so special about him, that when he was 14 years old, some of his junior games were broadcast nationally? Tsvetanov had to learn the spotlight from a young age, and he didn’t always like it. It’s hard not to feel pressure when an entire country calls you its ‘chosen one,’ and watches your every move. Watching, often, for a misstep. Waiting for one moment to pick out, and tear you down. Tsvetanov had avoided that, thankfully, so far in his career. At heart, he was still the boy shooting pucks at his garage door. One thing that had bothered him was the language issue. He didn’t like seeing people laughing at his errors. His brother, however, told him to embrace it. ‘It makes you unique,’ he’d said. Razvigor agreed.

Back on the ice now, Tsvetanov headed off to the benches, but before he could sneak away into the dressing room, he heard from just behind him: “Razvigor, it’s Hans Miller for Hockey Night in Siovanija and Teusland, could we quickly ask you a few questions?” He couldn’t turn down that opportunity. “Yes, yes,” he replied.

“Great game for you guys tonight, a 7-1 victory over Schutzenphalia and West Ruhntuhnkuhnland. You had 4 goals, including two in the first period. Thoughts on your performance?”

“Look, team play well, and that makes game so fun. When game fun, you can do so much, and tonight we did.”

“Yes, yes. Gunter Pfenning has been very good at getting you the puck so far this tournament, thoughts on his performance?”

“Gunter, great guy, great playmaker, we do great things here.”

“Final question, your team scored 7 goals tonight, what allowed you to build such a margin of goals?”

Tactical questions were the one area that Tsvetanov could discuss perfectly in any language. It really was, after all, a universal idea: “You know, it all starts with defence, they are able to shut down the opponent and get the puck away, then make good break-out passes. Once it’s on the stick of our forwards, that creativity starts to come through, and you can just go for it. You need luck, for sure, and we got a lot of good bounces tonight. One final thing, thank you to our fans! We are always glad to see you at every game here.”

“Thanks, Razvigor.”

Tsvetanov walked down the hallway towards the dressing room. It had been a really great night for him and the team. He opened the door, and the boys were clearly excited to see him.

“Razzy, you beauty!” yelled Timo Horn, putting his arm around the young star.

“Great game tonight Raz, it’s like we’ve been playing together forever, we’ve really clicked,” added the captain Gunter Pfenning.

A toothless grin coming to his face, Tsvetanov simply said: “Wheel, snipe, celly, boys.” The team erupted in cheers after that one.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF ABANHFLEFT
NATIONAL MEN'S ICE HOCKEY TEAM

This will be Abanhfleft's nth time participating in the World Cup of Hockey. Abanhfleft is going through a bad patch of form sports-wise so no one really expects much from this team this time around. Hockey has also experienced a bit of a decline in popularity so that also means that less people would be watching the national hockey team this time around. The ice hockey craze bubble has burst, and Fleftic ice hockey fans aren't taking it too well so they'll support the team no matter what but even they aren't getting their hopes up. That's how far expectations have fallen for this team. It's kind of sad, really. And then they went to the final of WCoH 35 where they lost to Elejamie so apparently interest in hockey has been revived.

OOC : Not enough time, so I'm dividing the Part 2 into two parts.

Part 2 (I) - 09:00

Tuesday

Every weekday morning this summer, Gerhard was making a terrible choice. There were many places in Montreal Gerhard would not recommend people to go and few things the 24-year old would not ask others to do, but this was a special kind of activity. It was taking Montreal Metro from the suburbs to the city’s bustling Downtown. The 10-line network, separate from the Commuter trains operated by the same Montreal Metropolitan Transit, was considered one of the many strengths Montreal had in being recognised as one of few global metropolis. It got most Montrealers where they wanted to move, granted they had enough time to transfer and whatnot. Perhaps, it was of no surprise that Gerhard Lassonde took the Metro to Downtown Montreal today, after a night at his girlfriend Regina’s flat in Stratford.

On the surface, Gerhard Lassonde looked nothing like a prospective academic (if he already weren’t one), for he looked rather similar to hundreds who were heading the same direction as he were at this late morning hour. Contrary to the image of Quebecois academics and/or graduate students in humanities as a well-dressed breed, especially in contrast to those of their lab-coated counterparts in the sciences, most on the Metro would immediately assume Gerhard as that of a high school senior on his daily commute to school. He was dressed very lightly today (because of the unfortunate event we’ll come to talk about soon); his blue and red Montreal Expos 2034-35 Quebec Series championship jacket that stuck right to his recently-fattened flesh, his 2023 model VousWatch to his left wrist and a pair of jeans that unfortunately showed his manly objects. Topping his street look was a lunchbox he carried with him, which he were going to fill it up at a campus cafeteria.

Gerhard drew a huge sigh as he descended from the ticket hall to the Municipal Line platform. Hundreds of commuters, mostly university and college students (high schoolers and 9-4 workers having already left an hour or two earlier), were greeting him with almost no space to stand. “What’s with crowd always welcoming me like this on the days I have to get to Downtown?” Gerhard questioned to himself. “Seems like I have made a wrong choice for the 35th time this week.” There was no line, only a chaos as the undergraduates and college students just clogged up the front of the platform edge doors. As a doctorate student, whose course requirements were done a year ago, he knew he wasn’t going to be late for anything scheduled today. He, however, was in a cranky mood, a bad sign for he had a travel grant proposal to write by 16:00.

Two minutes later, the eight-car 2027 stock, entered the station. After a gradual slowdown of speed, the train came into a halt. By this point, Gerhard situated himself near the end of the train, as he got on into the half-empty train. Fortunately enough, Gerhard was at very first station where the passengers were going to enter in school of fish. Gerhard rushed right into the very first seat he could find to the right hand side, and landed into an unoccupied seat. He knew it was going to be worse by the time the train reached Gare du Nord, when he had to get off his seat and transfer to the Piccadilly Line, where he’s going to be sandwiched all the way to Farrer. While the automatic signaling system at Piccadilly line in place.

Even though they had been dating for a couple of years, Gerhard still didn’t enjoy taking the occasional metro ride from Stratford occasional mornings, right in the northeastern corner of the island. Not only did he have to transfer at the most nightmarish station possible in Gare du Nord, he would be dealt with worst cards on deck possible. Depending on what his day was given, it was either he got off at neverending hallways of Farrer station on days he had a seminar to teach or had to study in one of its fourteen libraries, or head back to his home in Brixton-Henri VII, on the South Shore. Farrer was the more straightforward option of the two, but would also mean getting bumped by neverending sea of (business-)men and women cumming at you. Brixton option, on the contrary, would mean that he had to get off at Euston, and this would mean that thousands of tourists would do the same. Lesser numbers and a little bit more time and space for him to patch his eyes and rest, but oh blimey. Lose-lose in nutshell right there.

But the nature of his work required him to travel frequently, giving him next to no time to actually enjoy enough of his life in Montreal. So even this hassle of traveling was sometimes a good separation from the travels that he would have to do. Besides, sometimes you need a normalcy in your life, and Gerhard was getting not enough of it.....

World Cup Of Hockey 36 | Timothy Jozua

Team1st2nd3rdFinal
Northwest Kalactin5207
Mapletish0011

3 times the matches, 3 times the losses

Inexperience continued to plague the Minnows as they welcomed Northwest Kalactin for their 3rd match and 3rd loss of the WCOH. The Birds of Northwest as we would like to call them are a team that the Minnows hope want to pull off a surprise win against and the Minnows' style of play spoke volumes as they did just that. The Buio'Dzz was performed as usual by the Minnows and members of the Fireykop were seen doing the tribal war dance together with the squad in the rink. It was done in an increasingly aggressive fashion and the chants were louder than normal as the squad on the rink threatened to spill over their own half as they looked dead serious to pull of a win against the Birds in this match up. The Minnows' manager Epifanio Kike could also be seen doing the dance at the boards together with his team as he took out his suit jacket and performed the dance. The Minnows' attempt at intimidating their opponent worked, at least for the face off. They were first to respond to the face off and won the puck. It was Clemente Luciano once again as he had been great at winning face offs in this WCOH, winning most of the opening face offs against his opponents this tournament. This comes off as a pleasant surprise as the Home United man is not exactly a puck winner in faceoffs in the MNHL.

Luciano would take the puck and relayed it back within his own half with Dudley Buckholz picking it up after him. Bukcholz would then pass the puck back to the defences, with Tiburcio Fran taking the puck from there. Fran then spotted a gap between the Birds' defences, left behind by Todd Washington who was keen in going forward with his team's forwards in pressuring the Minnows. Ángel Gabriel would skate through and fill the gap up before receiving a neat through pass by Luciano after Fran relayed a quick tap over to Luciano. Gabriel received the puck and went straight for goal. The Versatio Giants' right wing would be denied by Clint Bowers, the Birds' goaltender much to the delight of their head coach Jerry Patterson who could be seen applauding the effort, while on the other side of the rink, we saw Epifanio Kike kicking himself up with the unlucky miss once again.

Despite the miss, the Minnows kept pressure on the Birds. It was the Minnows who once again sort to tear the opponents' net into half. Florentino Jordán was at the end of a quick passing move by Dudley Buckholz and Clemente Luciano which allowed Jordán to pull off a drag shot, as Aaron Johnson and Todd Washington could only look as the speedy build up shocked them a little. The Birds' goaltender was the team's saviour once again as he blocked another neat attacking move by the Minnows, as their fans applauded the effort of Bowers. Bowers could be seen shouting instructions to his teammates for allowing the Minnows to break the defences so easily.

The Birds on the other hand were unfazed by the Minnows' offensive advances as they scored a goal to take the lead in the 6th minute. Washington got his stick on a passing move by Johnson and McCullough and played a simple wrist shot against the Maplish goaltender, Johnson Rasmus. Northwest Kalactin 1-0 Mapletish. The Fireykop could not believe their eyes as the Birds moved seamlessly into their attack and played out a simple goal. Fran could only cursed at their streak of bad luck as the opponent's keeper was simply luckier than them even if they were able to break their defences down quickly. They just could not convert their chances into goals.

The Birds would get another goal in the 8th minute. Rasmus was beaten twice in the span of 2 minutes. In what would be a seemingly pacey and routine attacking move, McCullough received a pass from the boards from Washington and cut in to the centre of the Maplish zone. Fran was on hand to steal the puck away from McCullough but the latter won the puck back before a back stick landed the puck into the net much to the efforts of Rasmus to keep the puck out. Northwest Kalactin 2-0 Mapletish. That was only the 2nd goal of the period as the Birds would run riot against the Minnows and put in 3 more goals before putting the first period down to rest.

The Minnows were determined to respond and a heavy body check by Gabriel won the Minnows the puck from the possession of the Birds. He would then relayed the puck over to Buckholz who would only see his shot blocked by Bowers, in a nick of time as Bowers was off position. It was flying straight into the top right corner but Bowers was on hand to block it much to the frustration of Buckholz. The Birds were on hand to avenge this threatening attacking opportunity by pushing the scoreline upwards in their favour. In the 10th minute, the Birds would secure their 3rd goal of the match. Aaron Johnson went behind Rasmus' goal and took one back by rounding the goal posts and putting a back stick through as the puck flew into the net. Northwest Kalactin 3-0 Mapletish. It was starting to look like a blowout here. However, the Minnows were determined not to allow another goal through and the Fireykop could be seen chanting and singing at the top of their voices and it was a scene not to be missed. Kike on the sidelines could be seen applauding his players' efforts and urged them to forge forward and put on a show.

The Birds would score the fourth in the first period in the 12th minute. After an unsuccessful attacking move by the Minnows which saw Luciano attempted a drag shot on target towards the goal and Bowers blocking the shot in the top left corner which he was found to be out of position, the Birds launched a quick counter as Bobby Bryant went straight for the offensive breakaway and would calmly slot the puck into goal much to the best efforts by Rasmus. Northwest Kalactin 4-0 Mapletish. The Birds were running flying away here. The Fireykop sang,

Don't let the birds fly away
Don't let the birds fly away
Shut them up
Shut them up
Silence them if there is a need to
Give them a good fight.

The Minnows attempted to do just that, by trying to silence them. Another heavy body check by the Maplish saw Luciano winning the puck from Bobby Bryant who could only stumble upon his own skates and watch as Luciano broke away quickly into the Birds' half beating the on rushing Todd Washington who almost collided into his teammate Jason Sanders who was back to help out in the defence. The speed at which Luciano was going might have caught Bowers off balance as his shot off the dribble went into the right spot, into the top right corner, but it was Bowers who would have luck on his side, as his outstretched arm managed to block the shot. Unlucky, unlucky, luck wasn't on the side of the Minnows here once again.

The Birds found it difficult to be silenced even if they wanted it to be so. They would secure their 5th goal of the period with a neat attacking play by Johnson. Taking the puck from a failed Minnows' attacking move, which saw Jordán's powerful slap shot blocked by Bowers, Johnson went ahead with the puck and caught Bobby Bryant who was on the offensive breakaway. Bryant faced Rasmus one on one and it was Bryant who got the upper hand as he slot the puck into goal. Northwest Kalactin 5-0 Mapletish. The Fireykop would embark on their creative song streak once again,

Oh the Birds
Oh the Birds
They have put 5 in
We could have put 6 up
But where did all our goals go
But where did all our goals go
They were all blocked
Ohh please
Ohh please
Fight on, fight on

The Minnows would attempt to silence the Birds once again in what would be the last exciting play of the period. Fran was on hand to tip the puck towards Buckholz once again as the Minnows were known to do just that to allow the puck to clear the opponents' defence. Buckholz was on hand to trap the puck skillfully with a single touch of his stick and snapped a powerful wrist shot towards Bowers. However it was Bowers who won the battle here as he stood up to handle the puck as he lost balance and fell backwards onto the goalpost. Jerry Patterson would heave a sigh of relief as Bowers was alright.

The 1st period ending buzzer would sound and the Minnows were behind 5-0, despite putting in great attacking opportunities against the Birds. The Minnows gathered right in the centre of the rink this time round and huddled close seemingly trying to encourage each other and to rally the team together as the captain, Clemente Luciano liked to do. He applauded each of his players efforts as they skated back to their bench. The 2nd period began shortly after and the intermission saw a heated discussion between the Birds' head coach Jerry Patterson and his players as the former was displeased with how his squad was seemingly handling the quick Maplish attacks and they seemed to be at a loss despite leading the game 5 goals up to welcome the second period.

The Minnows managed to tamed the Birds in the 2nd period as the latter could only put two past the Maplish goaltender. The Minnows were the first to respond to the face off and got possession of the puck immediately. Luciano then spotted an attacking opportunity as he sprung towards the Birds' half shocking his opponents. His speed caught the defence by surprise as they failed to defend against him, stumbling on their skates once again and saw Bowers having to defuse the situation once again after Luciano fired a low shot against Bowers. It was the Maplish who would managed another miss once again and this time the misfortune fell on Fran. Luciano and Buckholz ended off their passing move as they picked out Fran on the right flank. Fran would take his time behind Bowers' goalpost before unleashing a one two with Buckholz and slotting the puck right into Bowers' way. However, Bowers was there to pick up the puck once again. Patterson could be seen yelling at his team for letting the Minnows in.

The Birds would mount a payback and in the 9th minute of the 2nd period, they did. Washington was on hand in the passing move with McCullough and Bryant allowing Washington to be moving towards the goal. Jordán was there to attempt a block against Washington but the latter would put the puck past Rasmus. Northwest Kalactin 6-0 Mapletish. The Birds' head coach Jerry Patterson could seen fist bumping the players on the bench and his assistant coach Joe West. It was the Birds once again who would add another goal in the 11th minute with another similar move. This time round it was Johnson who was on the recieving end of the passing combination amongst Jason Sanders, Joey McCullough and Bobby Bryant. Johnson would slot the puck past Rasmus and make it 7. Northwest Kalactin 7-0 Mapletish. The most goals the Minnows have conceded in the WCOH. The Fireykop could be heard singing,

Oh the Birds are 7 up
Put 8 then
8 quality shots, 8 quality goals
Ohh go for it
Ohh fight for it
Ohh Minnows, ohh Minnows
GO GET IT

The Minnows would stop the Birds from running wild with the scoreline there as they attempted to mount their comeback, even if it looked impossible, the Minnows were capable of pulling off the impossible at least in their quick, attacking plays which looked to claw the score back in the Minnows favour. The Minnows would mount a response through a quick free hit by Luciano who relayed the puck towards Jordán and the Club Atletico man spun Aaron Johnson off his skates and chipped the puck over Bowers who was not in position. But, it was Bowers who was on hand to get a hand at it even as if he fell backwards into the goal for the second time this match.

Mapletish continued to pressure the Birds as they controlled the match throughout the rest of the 2nd period, putting shot after shot and unlucky misses after unlucky misses. The scene looked like a target practice session against the 34th ranked side in the multiverse. The inexperienced Minnows looked to take control. Gabriel was on hand to an unlucky miss as Buckholz body checked Bobby Bryant off the puck and relayed the puck over to Fran who would nutmeg Johnson and calmly slot the puck in Gabriel's path. Gabriel would slot the puck calmly towards the goal but Bowers was on hand to block it again. An impressive A lucky showing for the goaltender there.

The undying desire to claw back the scoreline was running high in the minds of the Minnows there. The Minnows would attempt another exciting attacking move before the buzzer sounded the end of the 2nd period. Fran tackled Bryant off the puck and nutmegged the onrushing McCullough. Fran would then relayed the puck over to Buckholz who would pull off another powerful wrist shot but it flew off the pads of Bowers. The Fireykop were off their seats and applauding the effort as if the Minnows had scored. The Minnows had put in more chances on goal than their opponents and would have outscored the Birds there. Luciano fist bumped Buckholz and spoke some words of encouragement.

The buzzer sounded once again and the Minnows were behind 7 goals. Northwest Kalactin 7-0 Mapletish.

In what would be a comforting third period for the Minnows. The Minnows won the face off once again and got into a quick attacking move with Luciano right in font. He and his attacking colleagues would calmly relayed the puck around with Buckholz and Gabriel playing the passes around. Jordán got to the end of the passing move and got a one two with Luciano where the latter could slot the puck past Bowers. For the first time in the nth number of goals attempted, Bowers could not save the shot. Northwest Kalactin 7-1 Mapletish. The Minnows were up in the first minute of the third period. The attacking moves finally worked their magic, the Minnows were rewarded with a goal there.

The Minnows would continue to work their magic throughout the third period but to no avail. In the 5th minute, the Minnows were in their own zone relaying passes around trying to keep possession. Fran got to end of the passing move and skated towards the Birds' half. With Luciano and Buckholz getting into the gaps left by the Birds' defences. Gabriel relayed a quick one two with Fran, which allowed the latter to pick Luciano up and allowed Luciano to put a shot past Bowers, but it was Bowers who would save the puck once again. The Fireykop continued chanting and singing in an attempt to reignite the spirits of the Minnows who were even hungrier to hunt for the goals to claw back the scoreline as they remained firmly in control of the third period.

Body checks and tough tackles for the puck, the Minnows were tough as the Birds stumbled on their own skates and were body-checked out of control for their pucks. The Birds' fans at the stands were heated as they started jeering at the match and started littering the seats.

It would be Luciano who would win possession of the puck after riding possession away from Bryant. Attempting a quick one two with Gabriel, Luciano put a neat long drag shot against Bowers and the puck looked to be flying into the net but Bowers was on hand to make another save as head coach Jerry Patterson could be seen heaving another sigh of relief there. The Minnows were not the type who would give up control of the match even if they were behind. Little did the Birds know that the Minnows were more determined than them, having fought two close defeats in the previous two matches. The Minnows were determined not to let the match slipped away from them. It was the underdog mentality there and the Minnows were well known for that. The U21 football team won the Di Bradini Cup because of their determination and tenacity and the Fireykop were known to stand behind their team even if they were on the fringes of getting knocked out. The U21 football team was a prime example, they were on the brinks of getting knocked out in the group stage but they fought on. The senior footballing team fought on in the Copa Rushmori despite getting knocked out at the group stage, picking up a well deserved win in their final group stage match which saw them wave goodbye to the Copa Rushmori tournament early.

In the Minnows' next attacking opportunity which came in late at the 15th minute of the match, Fran was able to hold on control of the puck and relayed it over to Luciano who would relayed it down the boards over to Gabriel who cut in to the centre and back stick a shot past Bowers but it was the goaltender who was on hand to make another save. The puck deflected off his gloves and went right in the path of Luciano would unleashed a powerful slap shot but the puck went straight into Bower' helmet, jerking his neck beck slightly but he was able to hold onto the puck.

The Minnows would put one last ditch attempt on goal with Jordán putting a neat drag shot against Bowers after beating the Birds' defense pair, Washington and Johnson. Bowers was on hand to put in another save and this time he was able to grab the puck with his gloves and the final buzzer ended the game. The Fireykop got off their seats and applauded the Minnows for the outstanding show although the Minnows lost 7-1. The applause and chants continued on as the Minnows skated over to thank the Birds for the wonderful game and congratulated them for their victory. Epifanio Kike would once again put on his skates and applauded the Fireykop for staying throughout the game and cheering, singing and chanting their hearts out to encourage the Minnows to continue on. Before leaving the Arena, the Fireykop stayed on to clear the litter left by the Birds' fans who left much earlier.

The Minnows huddled in the middle of the rink as Luciano congratulated his team for the wonderful showing and encouraged them to fighting. Luciano was quoted as saying, "The three points is not with us today and it is alright. Continue bringing your A-game to every single game and we will clinch a win and that is for sure. 7 more games for us to play and 7 more games for us to bring our A-game. Continue fighting on."

The mood in the post match press conference was light despite the Minnows losing their third match in a row in this WCOH. Manager Kike was quoted as saying, "I'm proud of the performance by the team today, let us applaud their efforts." The press and media applauded for around 1 minute before Kike continued his press conference. "The lads brought their game tonight but they were unlucky to be denied the goals despite their performance. They were more solid tonight but the result does not show. I would like to thank everyone for putting in their best effort tonight. I would also like to congratulate Northwest Kalactin for their victory tonight. I would also like to thank the Fireykop for your continued support. Together, we will come out of the WCOH strong and we will put on a showing for everyone who has stood behind us all this while. Continue fighting on everyone!"

Ranorian Squad Off to Rough Start in World Cup Competition

Ranoria first dipped its hand into international sports three years ago in college gridiron football with some immediate success, its two schools making the playoff three times in five combined seasons, but, ever since, their other ventures haven't gotten much better.

In professional football, the RFL first sent their championship squad in, with a different QB at the helm, only to be obliterated in most of their contests. They were, again, met with poor results the next season, when a relatively star-studded roster failed to have any team chemistry.

In Hockey, it's a completely different challenge, with the only true bona-fide star on the floor, Douglas Ricardo, having put in three of the team's five goals, the other two coming from first overall pick in the RFL a year ago, Lilac Morgan, who is already widely considered not a bust, but a reach, and Mathias Dill, a borderline roster maker who elected to play to improve his stock. Why the lack of talent, you might ask?

Well, for one, the World Cup started not long after Ranoria's hockey season ended, and most of the players wanted a break. For Douglas Ricardo, who may soon be considered the best in the league, it was a decision made on passion, even with reports of his stay-in girlfriend leaving him over the decision to leave the country for months to play hockey. He was quoted to saying, "I love hockey, and I want to play against the best in the world. I'm going to get better, and I want to be the best in the world. So we'll see where this goes."

As for Lilac, he just wanted to improve his skill set, with a new coaching staff for a fresh look and a hopeful improvement off of his less than expected level of play last season. But at this rate, it may only hurt the youngster's confidence and crush any hope he had for a successful, storied career.
Fan of football, the Murican kind. But soccer is cool too! Just not really my thing. C(:^D/-<
I go by Ran. Unless, of course, you want to type out Ranoria. That's your decision.

SavojarSports.sj - inside reports from all Savojarna
No Yarchenko, No Victory

Following a good start into the double round robin that leads up to the 36th World Cup of Hockey in Razenthuria, the Savojar squad got into bigger trouble than expected after they lost Alexey Yarchenko in the second match against Qasden. The opener went to Savojarna with a clear and unchallenged 5-0 over Krenorus, and it seemed like the Northlights could continue their run with another victory over chronic under-achievers Qasden. However, their 2-0 lead after the first period melted in the second, when a disputed check by a Qasden forward sent Yarchenko headfirst into the boards and left him unconscious. The Savojar defender was diagnosed with a concussion and is likely out for the rest of the World Cup, leading to an already rather thinly spread Savojar defence being unable to keep up with the attacks of the Qasden side and give up the lead, only managing a crucial equaliser in the last five minutes thanks to a wristshot by Johan Bryzhnev. However, following the match, they also had to deal with a weakness in the first line as Glukov attempted to avenge his teammate later in the game and got sent off, forcing Savojarna to replace two defenders against Razenthuria in a difficult away game.

The Savojar squad was changed in three positions as Ingerman moved up into the first line alongside Kristiansen, Juranen played in the second line with Soren Falborg, and the so far disappointing Eythor Malinsson was replaced by Andersson (and Frans Djurberg took the latter's position in the fourth line). This seemed to throw them somewhat off their game, and especially in the second line the guidance and organisation usually provided by Yarchenko was dearly missed as Razenthuria scored their first goal on a counter where the defence completely forgot about their winger, allowing for an easy 1-0. The match did not get much better for the team as the equaliser by Djurberg was not given due to a crease infringement that was heavily disputed by the Savojar team, and shortly before the end of the period there was a second goal for the Razenthurian squad on the powerplay. Again, the organising presence of Yarchenko was deeply missed in the Savojar box and the team let too easy passes slip through their defences, allowing for simple shots on goal.

After the third goal for Razenthuria, a blue line shot followed by a scramble in which the puck found a way into the net, Andrey Strakhov moved into the goal instead of a rather unlucky Niklas Hoyman in a last effort to shake up the team, but it hardly worked as the Savojars managed to give up another goal and go down 4-0, a result they would keep thanks to less pressing play of Razenthuria and a more organised Savojar side in the final period. In the current form, the following games agaisnt North Prairie and New Jarwel may get rather difficult as the team is not in a great shape, nor is it extremely confident following these unnecessary and harsh defeats. Our opponents will surely try to take advantage of this situation and take advantage of the mistakes of our team the way Razenthuria did, with remarkable efficiency as the Savojar players remarked. The team clearly was aware of its flaws and did not try to sweet-talk their effort.

Pavel Rasnikov, Forward and Captain: "I think that we were too much occupied with ourselves when we lost Alexey and Slava. We should have focused on forcing our game onto Razenthuria and letting them come, but we decided that we would all give 120%. All of us were overly ambitious to make up for the two losses, and then nothing really fit together. They have reacted well to that and played a good counter-attack game, and I think that ultimately this was a wake-up call we needed. We'll now go back to our hotel and analyse the mistakes we did, and hopefully bring our best game in the next two matches".

Fridtjof Ragnarsson, Coach: "There were many unlucky things out there - if Djurberg's goal counts then it's 1-1 and everything looks different, and the third one was absolutely unlucky - but I don't want to blame the referee or our bad luck for this loss. We could not stick to our system. It is always hard to replace two defenders and change the lines as much as we had to, but we are still the number five in the world and had enough time to train for this that we cannot say we just lost because of these things. We should always impose our game on a team like this Razenthuria side. But they were very efficient, and played exactly like they had to. I think in the end the victory is too high, but we cannot complain about having lost".

Niklas Hoyman, Goalkeeper: "The first two goals were very unfortunate. We lost the puck twice in a bit of an unlucky moment, and usually the pass works but there were some bumps in the ice, some misunderstandings or a stick that just happened to be in the right place, and they are coming at us immediately. The counterplay was very good, and then we had to give up one-man-advantages or penalties. I don't want to blame the defenders for what happened, it was a mediocre team effort, including myself, against a team giving their best game. And I think they are also a bit underrated. I am of course always unhappy with being replaced, but I understand the coach when I give up three goals in the first half. I think I don't have to take the blame except maybe for the third one, but you have to change something on the ice. The coach also told me that, and I'm experienced enough to not take it personally".

For the next match, it is a good sign that the spirit in the team is still good and they are all very willing to work on the mistakes they made in this match. Facing North Prairie and New Jarwel, the Savojars will likely need six points out of these two encounters to not face a major uphill battle in the second half of the campaign, but may still scrape through. Ragnarsson has nominated Victor Troels from Dynamo Sjoedrhavn to replace the injured Yarchenko from the next home game onwards, but it is expected that Troels will be used as a reserve for the moment.

Part II (II)

An hour later, he was still on Montreal Metro. On most days he should have been at a library by this point, but he was not. The first leg of the journey was rather smooth, as he managed to get off in time at Gare du Nord, where he hopped on an empty train that started from there, due to the engineering work between Gare du Nord and College-de-Laval, a 7km section that needed patchwork since the section of the underground part of the line right under the Skowanoti River had a sudden leak overnight. As a result, he was able to take a seat and be on his way to Downtown.

Unfortunately, things were not going to be so easy for our protagonist. Just twelve minutes after hopping on the train, the automatic signaling system on the Piccadilly failed for the fourth time this wee, causing a 6km section of the line out of service, including the section between Angel and King’s Cross stations where the 2023 Model train was stuck right between.

Fortunately, Gerhard was only one kilometre away from his department building.

Unfortunately, the train has yet to move and has been a kilometre away from the department building for half an hour.

Gerhard Lassonde’s day was already getting out of hand; not only did he only have this pair of clothing still remaining from last night, he was going to be late arriving at his office in Woodcock Hall, and he only had six hours remaining before the deadline for his grant proposal. Stuck in a Piccadilly Line train that stopped in middle of an underground section between Angel and King’s Cross, Gerhard decided to do a little bit of work since it’s unlikely the train’s going to move for another half-hour.
He still wasn’t feeling like doing his research grant proposal, so he decided to have an initial readover of first two submissions of the course paper instead. The papers shouldn’t be too bad, given that there’s less courseload for a student in summer semester, Gerhard said to himself, as he clicked the very file that said ‘HIST 444 Final Paper - Matthew McKinley’. He was expecting a lot of good things coming out of this paper; on the initial conversation he’s had with the very college senior, it seemed as if Matthew was more than ready to get an A in this course.

Granted he didn’t screw it up. And the key part was granted. Unfortunately, his worst fears with course submissions came true as he opened the document:

‘The Secret Sex Life of Squrfs : The Disaster-in-Waiting of South Detroiter intelligentsia’s
Emigration and its association with Radicalism’

Matthew McKinley
33143504
HIST 444
Professor : Gerhard Lassonde
Submitted on June 11, 2034

_________

It’s time to tell the truth about Squrfs. You see, the Squrfs are very much like our own South Detroiters down the borders;
they are lonely, they are commune-driven, and they share through good and bad times, no matter how challenging it can be.
“But,” His Majesty asks, “do Squrfs have….you know….reproductive activities?”
Hell yeah we do! The answer is a Y - E - A - H and an !, and why shouldn’t they? They’re also living things and
we should try to respect that, no matter how weird they can be like them vegans ranting about my meat-based diet
whenever I go to Dunnolly Hall cafeteria.
However, what’s more important but often forgotten about is why the Squrfs have extremely long bags
attached to themselves. Wait, you don’t get it?
Alright, I’ll leave it up to you on that but let’s just say that it’s for the reasons that you were able to break into this earth for.
Sounds clear?

So that’s why every spring or winter solstice, when time’s right for every Squrf to stop waking up so early in the day
to enslave some groundhogs, the banners fly to celebrate the semiannual….

Not this again, Gerhard sighed as he deleted the document, before closing his laptop. Yet once more he was caught in the trick, as Matthew McKinley had once again written a material of lewd content. This greatly disappointed him; while a man of decency, Gerhard appreciated creative vibes from Matthew and did him favours by not deducting grades when he had submitted excessively subtle book review about South Detroiter education system and its connection with gangsterism.

Unfortunately, Gerhard knew this was too much, even for someone who liked reading creatively-formatted assignments. Thus, he had to give that student either a 0 or request for a re-submission. Higher the expectation, the greater the disappointment there was, and that’s what the senior took a particular risk in and Gerhard wasn’t going to have slightest pity with it. Piece de tabernac, he thought to himself, as he quickly massaged the back of his head before checking his phone. At this rate he wasn’t going to get any work done before arriving in Farrer station, around forty minutes after original ETA.
This time, it was from Regina. Just in time for her to wakey-wakey, he grinned as he texted her back:

Image

Few minutes later, the train started running again. The students, in this, immediately traded glances and started moving away from the seats, moving closer to the door. The very next station, King’s Cross, wasn’t really a huge draw for students as Farrer but right next to it was the St-Germain Quarter. While Montreal’s West End theatre was located on the northwestern side of Downtown, surrounding Iggulden University in the middle of the theatre district, the city’s performing arts schools and the Palais Regimbault, the city’s historic opera house, was at the Northeastern part, with Farrer University sandwiched right between.

He knew King’s Cross tube station was always busy but in this hour, it was because of students instead of usual tourists or businessmen on rush hour period. Since the Opera station was only 500 metres away from King’s Cross, he assumed some of them were getting off to access the Webster School of Performing Arts, one of the best undergraduate and graduate schools in the country for operatic singing aligned with Farrer University itself. With Stratford area’s fame as a place for student housing, and most Farrer-Webster classes starting around 10:00, it was of no surprise that they were trying to get out of this bloody train, sooner than later. It was then that he received a quick text, causing him to exchange texts quickly enough:

Image

And just as he received the text from Aaron, the train slowed down until it reached to halt in King’s Cross station. The students were the first to get out, followed by the businessmen and locals who had their business to attend to in the station. He got off around the same time as the latter. Something was grabbing him by the shoulder, however, as he pushed forward with just enough force to get out of the grip. Then he quickly heard something drop right behind him, as he got off the train. Quickly turning around, Gerhard went to the nearest seat possible and checked his bag. Filled with lots of mess, it as nearly impossible to navigate, so it took the man roughly four minutes of just before finding out what was missing. He had just left his lunchbox on the train, while he was getting out.

Today’s going to be a very long day.

Today for one that will be very familiar to most players on the Ko-orenite team! The glaciers of Aerellen, at the northernmost tip of Ko-oren. Though nobody lives quite this far north, the state that these glaciers are in, Aerellen, is populated by the most ice hockey-loving people in Ko-oren, and supplies two thirds of the national league. Still, somehow, the current national team is mostly from those other teams; the one-third that is from the Ko-oren mainland, not from the Aerellen isles.

Having four to five teams from the same middle-sized town diluted the talent pool, even if said city has most talent born in it anyway. In an environment with so much rivalries and strife, many players fail to make it to the top league, even if those players would later have grown to be world-class anyway. And so, while Aerellen still definitely is the top state for ice hockey... the other parts are definitely not out of contention at all.

The Alpine Union destroyed Kilaguni

Avon City, Anthor - (NAP) After getting crushed 6-2 against Elejamie, the Alpine Union destroyed Kilaguni 7-2 in Avon City in an arena mostly filled with Alpine fans with some locals from Anthor and Kilagunians. The Alpine Union were the first team to score when with 13 minutes remaining in the 1st period Melania Zyskowska skated with the puck around the net and passed to Emilia Zyskowska who shoots and scores. Czeslaw Niemczynowicz also got an assist on the goal. With less than 3 minutes remaining, Krzysztof Klepczynski passed to Fredrika Laine who carries the puck on a 2 on one and passed to Anton Lundström who shoots and scores. The Bisons are leading 2-0 at the end of the 1st period.

Kilaguni's 2nd line left wing is penalised for cross checking early in the 2nd period. 20 seconds later 1st pairing left defenseman is penalised for delay of game when he shot the puck into the crowd and it's a double power play for the Bisons! Czeslaw Niemczynowicz wins the face off, Szymon Krzysztalowicz recieves the puck and he shoots wide left. Emilia Zyskowska takes the lose puck and passed to Stanislaw Wojciechowski at the blue line who passed to Szymon Krzysztalowicz who passed back to Stanislaw Wojciechowski who shoots! Melania Zyskowska tipped the puck which goes into the net, it's a double power play goal for the Alpine Union! The Reprezentacja Alpejski are still on the power play and with just 5 seconds remaining in the power play, Emilia Zyskowska scored a goal on a wrist shot assisted by Czeslaw Niemczynowicz and Stanislaw Wojciechowski. The score is now 4-0 Alpine Union! With 7 minutes remaining in the 2nd period, Szymon Krzysztalowicz scored on a slap shot from center ice assisted only by Jenni Kekäläinen and the score was 5-0! Starting Goalie was sent to the locker room and he was replaced with Backup Goalie. With less than 4 minutes remaining, 1st line right wing scored on a 2 on one with 1st line center. 2nd pairing right defenseman also got an assist. And the score after two periods was 5-1 Bisons.

With 14 minutes remaining in the 3rd period, Mikko-Petteri Karjanlahti carries the puck into Kilaguni territory and shoots wide right. Arkadiusz Zlomanczuk and 2nd pairing right defenseman are battling for the puck in the corner, 2nd pairing right defenseman pushes the puck behind his net and 2nd pairing left defenseman gets the puck and clears it along the boards but Hampus Wiktorsson intercepts the puck and passes to Mikko-Petteri Karjanlahti who shoots and scores and the Reprezentacja Alpejski is leading 6-1. Midway in the period, Niko Virtanen is penalised for tripping and Kilaguni goes on the power play. 1st line left wing scored assisted by 1st line center and 1st pairing left defenseman and the Alpines leads 6-2. The Bisons adds another goal 4 minutes later when Emilia Zyskowska and Melania Zyskowska are on a 2 on 0. Emilia passed to Melania who passed back to Emilia who passed back to Melania who shoots and scores and the Alpine Union is leading 7-2! This is the final score.

The Alpine Union is 2nd in group C tied with Ko-oren and Tobiasia with 6 points. Elejamie is leading the group with 3 wins in 3 games. No surprise or upset so far. The Bisons' next two games are pretty much important as they will play against Ko-oren and Tobiasia next.

Saints are shutdown and shutout by Ice Cat Things.

Cost: K$ 1.50

Anthor -- The Saints are left shutout by 2nd ranked, former WCoH 34 champions, Vilita & Turori Ice Cat Things in Author.

The Saints took on the Vilita & Turori Ice Cat Things in match day three of the World Cup of Hockey international tournament. The Saints continued to be lead by Coach Shawn Bosely who is now 1-1-1 in the 36th return of the tournament. The Saints looked unprepared in this prime-time match up generating multiple penalties and skating with what can only be described as a pound of bricks on their backs.

The Vilita & Turori Ice Cat Things are lead by Head Coach Avalan Macraw and Assistant Coach Colora Boharii. The Ice Cat Things are returning to the World Cup of Hockey and the 2nd ranked team in the event, looking to claim another title as WCoH Champions. The Ice Cat Things play speed and passing heavy offense, hope to maneuver their way to the net which they efficiently accomplished four times tonight. Most notably was the performance of Thing #80 of 'Snowman' Avalanski who posted the shutout. Blocking a few bricks that the Saints threw at him tonight.

The Ice Hog Things made quick work of the Saints struggling defense and took advantage of the veteran goalie David Crawford. In the first period, the Ice Cat Things took advantage of the 12 straight minutes of power play to sink in two goal which would end the period with a score of 0-2. The Saints showed unusual aggression which helped break up many of the rushed by the Ice Cat Things but did cause plenty of penalties including two reviews for majors. Saints Goaltender David Crawford did show some signs of being back into the game with some athletic saves but also some subpar saves.

The second period would be similar to the first period, the Saints continued to show their aggression against the Ice Cat Things but they incurred another couple of penalties. Coach Bosley addressed the penalties in the locker room before the period started stating that every penalty is basically another goal and told the players to "be smart". The Ice Cat Things would put up another two goals, one of which is a powerplay goal. The Saints would head into the locker room down 0-4.

At the start of the third period, the Saints would replace Crawford with Jan-Erik Liukko. The 2nd round drafted goal out of Whitewood East Senior High School would shut out the third period against the Ice Cat Things, blocking 15 biscuits. The Saints continued to struggle to get any unified offensive line going. Between the passing interceptions and the sloppy skating the Saints mainly rely on its physical presence goaltender to stop the constant scoring chances that Things #1-5 keep throwing at them. The Saint would end the game 0-4 being shut out by the Ice Cat Things, their 1st shutout of the tournament.

The next matchup for the Saints is against Cosneolta who are led by Manager Calvin Aikriminiek. Cosneolta, a relatively small nations of 400,000 people, has a rich hockey culture. As the 13th ranked team, this will be the first major test for the Post-Underhill Saints against an higher ranked opponent. The Saints are looking to create a undefeated streak to help lock in the Saints into a first-ever knockoff stage entrance and knocking off a higher ranked Cosneolta would serves as a strong statement for the rest of the group that the newly-revamped Saints are the team to watch in Group 7. Cosneolta made it through the round robin stage in the last World Cup of Hockey with the help of their stonewall defense. So far in WCoH 36, Cosneolta's record is 1-0 with a 6-0 shutout of unranked Mapletish who style a similar offense to the Saints.

The next match will also be Breast Cancer Awareness Night as in part to the newly declared National Breast Cancer Awareness Day which was declared by Chancellor Jonathan Stewart. The Saints will be sporting their Pink sweaters which are pictured Here!

Reporter: “What are some of your take away from this matchup against Ice Cat Things?”

Coach Bosley: “Well I am taking away two things. One is that we weren't prepared for this game which is my fault. I should have been better preparing these boys for this matchup, it was an embarrassment for the team. Secondly, Jan-Erik Liukko has earned his spot on this team.”

Reporter: “David Crawford let in another four goals this matchup. His Goals against is how at nine in three games. Are you thinking about making any changes at goaltending?”

Coach Bosley: “I admit we are looking into this. Not guaranteeing that Crawford won't be in net next match day against Cosneolta but we are exploring options that work for everyone. I still have faith in Crawford, he is a fighter.”

Reporter: “Thought on the upcoming game against 13th ranked Cosneolta? Any changes to be made?”

Coach Bosley: “Cosneolta is going to be an exciting matchup. Both teams are very good and aggressive teams, I expect a lot of physical play and both team’s defenses to be tested. As for changes, I’ll continue to tweak out defense until we get something that works, we still relied on our goaltender too much to keep the puck out of the net.
Thank you all for the questions”

Pine Park
Headquarters of the National Gendarmerie
Geneve, Geneva, Neu Engollon

Director Karl von Tindelberg, National Security Minister and head of NESA, still remained on the Pine Park campus, on an upper deck that overlooked the grounds of the National Gendarmerie HQ.
It couldn't be described as vast by any means, but for a city like Geneva, where space was at a premium, it was still impressive. Also, despite appearances, very little of the grounds was underutilized. Under all the rolling hills and forests was a vast warren of tunnels and sub-levels that held all kinds of training facilities, firing ranges, armories, storage, laboratories and offices. That didn't even cover what was above ground. It almost put NESA HQ to shame...almost.

He had been in the middle of a conversation with Commissioner Etangel, the Pine Park Director, but the man had to run to the restroom, so Karl took time to take in the aesthetics of the campus once more and sip at his beverage.

The familiar voice was behind him. "I'm back, Karl. Where were we?"

"Letting us use Monk's Gardens over there..." He pointed in its general direction, "...for our special guest, Jean-Pierre."

"Three times now, I have sent over some of our top officers to observe and participate in the interrogation sessions of Liebsgott at your facility. Every time they have been turned away."

"First off, they're not interrogation sessions..."

"Shrink sessions, whatever..."

"Second, that happened at levels below me, without my approval. We had a deal when we took over custody, and I intend to honor it. I will take care of that. Won't happen anymore."

Etangel looked at him skeptically. "Accorzu (Okay)...So you say, but I think you're pretty directly involved in the day to day with Liebsgott. Nothing is being honored, as of yet."

"Nope. Not so. Look, I know you think this is the highest profile case on our docket, and at the forefront of my mind, but that's not even close to the case. I...We...have a lot of balls in the air, some of them joint with your people and you know it, Jean-Pierre, so don't give me that shit. So we have Liebsgott? So what? How many Austrak illegals are running around out there right now that we have not caught yet, maybe hanging out right on the edge of your campus there. Not to mention the Yellowsians, Falkasians, Figuerroans, fanatic Glissies, and who the fuck knows who else, ready to cause mayhem."

"That may be the case, but taking that into account - it's all connected, right? Part of the point was to see who this guy would flip on so we could roll up some of the other investigations. So far, if all is to be believed, we're coming up bone dry."

"You think we're withholding from you?"

"Did I say that?"

"You implied it."

"All I'm saying is that for the amount of time spent on this Austrak athletic official...all these months...We have bupkiss to show for it. Nothing. I'm glad part of our deal was that we didn't have to pony up part of our budget to pay for this shitty non-pay off operation...Up until now, anyway. Now you want to start letting him play in our park like a little school boy?"

"Yes, can you provide playground equipment and some footballs, please?"

"Fuck off."

"A couple strolls a week. You're blowing this out of proportion, Jean-Pierre."

"What you're asking is a security nightmare. And you know what? Everything is out of proportion with you, Karl, including your love affair with the rest of the Federal Council. Three administrations now and counting."

He smiled. "It's pretty great, yeah."

The Commissioner walked away from the railing.

"I'm kidding."

"You're not though, that's the point."

"I wouldn't actually rub it in your face, that's the point. Listen, I have a 1300 meeting. How about this? We meet again on Tuesday. All day. Work on the cooperation, shuffle some assets around. I loan you the equipment and personnel you want for those other ops..."

Etangel walked back. "Don't fuck with me, Karl! I'm not going to be fooled this time. You are going to deliver on what you promise, dammit!"

Von Tindelberg stuck out his hand. "Every word. I want you to trust me, Jean-Pierre. We're on the same side. If we can't work together, our people can't work together and then our Confederacy is well and truly fucked."

The National Gendarme Commissioner grabbed his hand. "It probably already is. Captain Regglatti will guide you out. Don't poach any of my people on the way out."

The NESA Director laughed and nodded. "I'll try not to."

How We Got Here

This Post May Contain Mature Content. Be Warned.

Inspector Arthur Elder
In front of Braith's General Market, 2405 Heritage Way
Neighborhood of Glenpark, City of Rogate
Baltha 46, 602AE, 8:16 AM

The morning dew that had pooled on top of the deep navy blue sedan all spilled backwards as its driver quickly peeled out of its parking spot near the front of the large lot that accommodated the officers of the Glenpark Police Station. It briefly stopped at the manned entrance, to check out with the officer in the toll booth who made a record of anyone who entered or left, and then rolled itself out on the to sleepy street, as many of the citizens were already in their offices and work-spaces, ready to begin the new day, while those running late were rushing to get there and making sure to stay clear of any police.

Arthur's destination for this morning wouldn't take him far, which was mildly disappointing as he was hoping he would at least get to leave Glenpark as that would give him time to let his coffee, which was held in the metallic bottle in his center cup holder, to cool off enough and maybe consume some, but unfortunately the five minute drive would mean he'd have to drink on the site once he was there. He made a few turns before entering the business heart of Glenpark, the developments between Heritage Way and Park Boulevard where the streets were lined with storefront properties, or strip malls that contained every more commercial space as well as a few large independent stores, but the brick and mortar stores were packed up next to each other for the most part. The streets were relatively clean, the local cleaners had recently come through apparently to come for the night's mess, though as he pulled up onto Heritage and could see the blue police strobes and the orange tape, he knew his day and mess were just beginning.

Up ahead, where the street dropped from a hill onto a flat space he could see at least three marked police cruisers that had blocked off the right lane of the road closest to the side walk and the whole side walk had been closed down, taped off with the notable orange Police Line, Do Not Cross line, and the uniformed street officers of the cruisers were maintaining the scene, keeping away the few horrified spectators and the number of press members that were squeezing to get coverage and pictures in, but their officers doing their best to limit the contact. The reason for why everyone was here that day was made pretty clear by the human corpse swinging idly by its left foot, which was attached to a rope that was strung around a light pole. The sidewalk below was covered in blood that had presumably come from the victim, and as Arthur walked up the sidewalk towards the discovery site, he could see now a forensics unit had already made its way on scene as their large truck was parked in a normal street space and some of its members were now carefully catalouging the scene. Arthur made his way towards the body, where he recognized his counterpart from the forensics office Kiersten taking photographs of the swinging body. "Morning Ms.Faucher, nothing like this for breakfast am I right?"

Faucher paused after taking a snap of her digital camera, one of the highest models that Tensel made "I think you and I have different ideas of an ideal breakfast investigator"

Arthur smiled as he took a quick sip from his blue cup and watched as Kiersten finished her work with the camera, returning the device to her large utility bag on the ground next to the scene and then began taking some samples of the dried blood pool. "Indeed, maybe I do. Onto the menu, can you give me some of the bones of what we're working with?"

"Unknown male, numerous lacerations to the torso, face, and extremities. Take a look at his chest."

Arthur stepped around her to look at the body and grimaced in disgust at the message cut into the flesh of the victim. " That's absolutely despicable. I take it this man is from this..Krenorus?"

"Perhaps. I've never heard of the nation myself, but it's safe to make that bet I'd wager, though I'll leave investigative work to fine detectives like yourself Elder. Medical Examiner will be arriving here in a few minutes, they got stuck in traffic near the C3 exit onto Hind, and once they get here he can take the body for the autopsy and the rest of the details."

As Kiersten had been talking, Arthur had taken his phone out and quickly typed Krenorous into his web browser, and immediately got some interesting results. "Indeed; apparently Krenorus is one of the nations that is participating in the World Cup of Hockey here this year, it's been playing their games here in the city at the Ring so far."

Kiersten made a 'hmph' noise as she began packing up her materials and stood up to look at Arthur "Huh, well that's interesting. Some extreme nationalist here in Rogate? Isn't that the northerners shtick?"

Arthur shrugged as he looked around and examined the street "Perhaps, though I can't imagine if this man was a Girvan fan he would have gotten much love in this part of town, though I doubt anyone would have gone to this horrific length. Examine the body at all?"

Kiersten rolled her eyes "You know we can't touch the body until the ME's here, but I did take some basic temperatures for him since he was delayed. The chill prevented an accurate reading, it was 34 for most of the night and only 'warmed' up to the present 54 once dawn arrived. If I took a guess, maybe died an hour or two before sunset?"

Arthur knotted his eyebrows with a comprehensive look "Curious. What was a tourist doing out so late, and moreover, why here? We're a few blocks from the nearest bar, and even then Hansel's isn't a sporty type place even with hockey, so I'm betting this guy came from....anywhere not in Glenpark. Maybe Dorian's place down on 5th street, I'll have to check around and see if they noticed this man."

"Looks like you're starting with a wide field and not too many signs on this one Elder."

Arthur grinned "Indeed, but that's why they called me."

Minnows survive Routcher scare

Having played three losses in the previous three matches, the Minnows entered the arena, looking to end their unlucky streak. Little is known about Routcher, just that they are the second unranked team in the group. That didn't stop Routcher from being the first team to pull off the goals for their side in the first period. The first period was a nightmare to begin with more the Minnows as Routcher put 4 past Rasmus and the match looked headed to another blowout victory for the Minnows' opponents. In the opening face off of the match, Clemente Luciano was the first to win the puck for the Maplish side. They were also the first to put an attacking move towards the goal. Having received the puck from Luciano, Tiburcio Fran was quick to respond and relayed the puck over to Buckholz at the boards. Buckholz then put a pass over to the middle for Ángel Gabriel who would fail to put the puck past Routcher's goal tender.

Routcher illustrated the perfect response in the 2nd minute and opened the scoring for their side. Player #1 got the puck from a back pass from Player #2 and relayed it over Player #3 who would beat Gabriel who was defending against him before relaying it over to Player #4 who calmly put a shot past Rasmus. The Fireykop groaned as it was the fourth time, the opponents have scored first. Routcher 1-0 Mapletish. It was to be a long first period for the Minnows here as both sides would see six goals. The second goal from Routcher came right after in the 3rd minute. Player #2 was quick to dispossess Luciano of the puck as he tried to pick out Gabriel. With Player #2 intercepting the pass he would put a quick wrist shot on goal and it went right past Rasmus. Routcher 2-0 Mapletish. Luck was on the side of Routcher once again and it was them who would score the third goal of the match once again. Player #4 won the resulting face off from the second goal and leaped right in front of Luciano before relaying the puck over to Player #5 who would slot it pass Rasmus for the third goal of the match. Fran could only look as he failed to defend the attacking play. Routcher 3-0 Mapletish. 2 minutes later in the 5th minute as Routcher put their 4th goal past Rasmus. Thankfully, that would be the last of the goals by the unranked side. Buckholz's pass over to Gabriel was intercepted by Player #2 who would speedily skate past the defending Luciano, Fran and Jordán, before slotting another pat Rasmus. Routcher 4-0 Mapletish.

Tough luck for the Minnows here as they were down by four goals in quick succession. However, it wouldn't be long for the Minnows to stage a comeback and formulate a response for the damage done. In the 10th minute, the Minnows were able to mount a successful offence to capture their first goal of the match. Fran was in possession of the puck and skated forward into Routcher's half. He would then pick up Luciano with a quick one two and relayed the puck over to Gabriel who would slot the first goal for the Minnows. Routcher 4-1 Mapletish.

In the 12th minute, the Minnows would score their second goal via a brilliant move by Jordán. Having nutmegged Player #2 after dispossessing Player #3 who placed a misplaced pass, Jordán placed a pass over to Fran to reward him for the neat assist earlier and Fran would slot it in calmly for the second goal for Mapletish. Routcher 4-2 Mapletish. The Minnows could have put a third goal but luck was at Player #1's side as he managed to block the powerful shot from Luciano. Gabriel dispossessed Player #3 of the puck through a heavy bodycheck and relayed the puck over to Fran who would tap the puck into Luciano's path. Luciano attempted a quick slap shot which was blocked by Player #1 much to Mr Manager's relief as he blew some air out at the sidelines. The closing buzzer for the 1st period sounded before the Minnows could deal further damage.

The atmosphere during the intermission was rather positive as Epifanio Kike discussed the team's tactics with his players. As usual the squad huddled in the middle of the rink and it was Luciano's turn to rally the squad together. Despite being behind, the squad believed that the unlucky streak would eventually come to an end.

The second period proved to be just that as the Minnows would equal the scoreline and make a dramatic comeback for the first time in their WCOH campaign. "We are unlucky when it comes to comebacks, so many attempts on goal were not converted to goals even if the goaltender was not in the right place and the right time. This match proved to us that the bad luck won't last," Luciano was quoted as saying in the post match press conference.

The second period would see Jordán scoring his first goal of the WCOH from a Luciano assist and Buckholz scoring from another Luciano's assist. Luciano was on the puck once again as he won the puck from Player #3 quickly in the first face off of the second period. He would then be the main man in the opening attacking move attempted by the Minnows. Relaying the puck back to Fran to relief some pressure, Fran would have a quick one two with Jordán and find the stick of Buckholz who would relay it to Luciano who failed to convert the opportunity into a goal as Player #1 was right on hand to block the shot.

The Minnows would not be that unlucky in their attacking attempt in the 8th minute. Dispossessing Player #3 of the puck, Luciano took control of the puck and beat Player #4 off his dribbling move and picked up Jordán who made an offensive move into Routcher's half. Jordán would slot Luciano's pass calmly as he beat Player #1's outstretched arms. Routcher 4-3 Mapletish. The Fireykop were off their seats as they applauded the Minnows for the fine effort. They began singing,

One more, just one more
Ohh Luciano, what a great man
Captain Luciano
Ohh there he is
Ohh wherever he is
He is Captain Luciano
The People's Captain
He will give us the goal

I swear the members of the Fireykop have great creativity and can come out with songs like these even in the middle of a match. Luciano would be in contribution for the next Minnows' goal too. In the 15th minute, the Minnows would embark on a neat attacking move after relaying the puck amongst each other. Fran relayed the puck back to Rasmus who put the puck over to Jordán who then picked up Gabriel and he relayed it over to Luciano who would fake a drag shot and passed the puck over to Buckholz who slot it past Player #1. Routcher 4-4 Mapletish. The Fireykop cheered and chanted as if they have won the match. The Minnows were closed to putting themselves ahead in the lead but they were denied once again by Player #1.

In the 18th minute, Fran dispossessed Player #5 who was dilly dallying on the puck and looked unsure of his next move. Fran would skated straight up and picked the puck off while nutmegging Player #4 in the process putting him in a one on one situation with Player #1. Player #1 won the encounter though as he blocked Fran's strong wrist shot much to the latter's frustration. The buzzer to end the 2nd period was right on time as Mr Manager could be seen in another moment of relief as the Minnows were cut short of the time to deal further damage on the scoreline against his side.

The third period would see the Minnows taking the lead with 2 Luciano goals from assists by Buckholz and Gabriel. This was the first time, the Minnows were taking the lead in the WCOH. However, it was not roses and sunshine for the Minnows in the beginning of the third period. Luck was still on Player #1's side as he blocked out shots by the Maplish side. In the 5th minute, Fran bodychecked Player #3 and dispossessed him while beating the on coming Player #4 before passing the puck over to Buckholz who could not convert the shot as Player #1 blocked it. The puck was deflected over to Player #2 but his clearance got into the path of Luciano who didn't hesitated to shoot straight away but his threatening wrist shot was blocked by Player #1 once again.

In the 7th minute, the Minnows got the lead finally. Buckholz intercepted a pass from Player #4 and began his attacking move. Skating past Player #3, he relayed a pass over to Luciano who would calmly slot the puck past Player #1. Routcher 4-5 Mapletish. The Minnows were ahead and the Fireykop were on their feet, cheering and applauding the goal. The squad huddled together as they celebrated the goal. In the 10th minute, the Minnows would go on to score their sixth goal of the match. This time through an assist by Gabriel. Fran tackled Player #3 and was in control of the puck. He would relayed it over to Gabriel and then Buckholz who were both in the midst of their fancy passing moves as they tried to beat Routcher's defences. Gabriel was last to touch the puck and he relayed it over to Luciano who would attempt a quick drag shot which saw the puck flew past Player #1 and into the net. Routcher 4-6 Mapletish.

Sealing the victory was essential for the Minnows as they toned down their offensive plays and proceeded to control the match instead and putting in attacking plays once in awhile as they looked to soak up the pressure from Routcher. Finally, the buzzer to end he third period sounded and the Minnows had earned their first 3 points of their WCOH campaign and this could be their last last as they will face Vilitia & Turori next, the group's top seeds who had won 4 of their last 4 matches and would look to dominate against the Minnows here.

Rogate City, Anthor - The Krenorussian Hockey Team, known as the Krenorussian Beasts, has won against the national hockey team from New Jarwel. Krenorussian fans were cheering while some shouted pro-Krenorussian hymns at the supporters of the New Jarwel team. James Fogg-Czines told reporters in the press conference after the match that, 'The Beasts have shown their true potential today. We are making a comeback, folks.' This comes after the Krenorussian National Team lost against Qasden and North Prarie. Many hope that Krenorus can beat their next opponent. These hopes came after the first match against Savojarna, where the Krenorussian team lost five to nil. Many Krenorussians say this is a 'miracle' and that Krenorus would surely be able to win the next few matches.

We look at KBC sports reporter Semy Le'Roi again, who wrote a graphic report on what happened:

***

Semy Le'Roi, KBC SPORTS
After Krenorus' stunning lost to Qasden by seven to nil, most Krenorussians were expecting an easy win for New Jarwel. Even some of the Krenorussian players were unconfident that they could win this match. The match soon kicked off with fast fury as the Krenorussian team immediately went for the control of the puck. The New Jarwel team tried to stop them, however, they failed. A small brawl broke out as Erik von Neumann ended up in a brawl with one of the New Jarwel players. This brawl allowed Jackson Tiggers to bypass most of the New Jarwel players and shoot the puck at the net. Fortunately for New Jarwel, the goalkeeper deflected it. After that, New Jarwel launched a deep attack at Krenorus. They stroked hard and one of their best players shot a puck at the Krenorussian goal. Ouilsonne would easily block it. However, before it went into Ouilsonne's grasp, another New Jarwel opponent hit the puck again, causing it to go in a different direction. Ouilsonne missed it and New Jarwel scored.

The New Jarwel crowd roared with cries of glory and joy while the Krenorussian crowd sat crookedly, saddened and convinced that Krenorus' near-victory in the match against New Prarie was but a small amount of luck. Luck which would not show here.

Just a few minutes later, the same New Jarwel player would lead another attack. While running, he took control of the puck and quickly passed it to the man on his left, who fired it at the net. Ouilsonne luckily hit it with his fingers and the puck deflected into the control of the Krenorussian team. Krenorussian gave small sighs of relief that at least it wasn't three to nil. Heavy fighting over the puck continued as Krenorus launched one unsuccessful attack after another. The first players soon went to rest and the new players were out fighting for the puck. Brawls, including a five-man one, broke out throughout the game. There was a case of Jacob Smith-Winstons punching one of the New Jarwel players after said players accidentally knocked him with his hockey stick. After a small while, von Neumann got control of the puck. He and his fellow players pushed through the New Jarwel defence through a complicated system involving unexpected and high-risk passes. Soon, as he neared the goal, von Neumann tripped and fell. He broke his ankle. Paramedics were called and he was replaced by Shawn Norman, another left-wing hockey player.

Tiggers soon got control of the puck and passed it to Smith-Winstons and he avoided incoming New Jarwel hockey players. As they neared the goalpost, Smith-Winstons made it obvious that he was going to pass the puck to Tiggers, who would score. The New Jarwel goalkeeper knew this, so he eyed Tiggers. However, as Smith-Winstons was going to pass, he instead shot the puck at the goal... Goal! Goal! Goal! the crowd cheered as the puck went straight into the goal. The whole Krenorussian crowd cheered as international eyes would start to gaze - slowly and quietly - on Krenorus' National Hockey Team: the Krenorussian Beasts. 'Damnatio Ad Bestias!' the crowd started to cheer. These words - Damnation Ad Bestias - meant the sombre yet majestic words, Damned to the Beasts. This was quite literally the Latin term for 'Thrown to the Lions', and the Krenorussian crowd was embracing it and shouting it!

Fierce fighting continued as the New Jarwel team fired a puck at the Krenorussian goalpost. Ouilsonne - luckily for the team - was able to deflect the puck with his hockey stick. Alessandro Mikaelo took control of the puck and passed it to Norman. Norman passed it to Smith-Winstons as they both got close to the goal. In a stunning move, Smith Winstons slowed down and passed the puck to Shawn Norman who quickly deflected the puck to Jackson Tiggers, who deflected the puck into the goal! In Krenorus, Victoria! the crowd roared! Claps were omnipresent throughout the next few minutes as Jackson Tiggers had just scored the equalizer. Huzzah! Huzzah!

When I interviewed Tiggers after the game, he said: 'It was a great game... and that goal was a great goal. To think I scored an equalizer and helped my team to victory over New Jarwel! Boy... am I happy.

The New Jarwel team launched an all-out attack against the Krenorussian team. Hockey stick collided while bodies of flesh and muscle and bones slammed into each other, 'pure f*cking glory' one of the fans said. Soon, near the end of the game, a tired Tiggers got control of the puck. He tiredly passed it to Smith-Winstons, who dodged many New Jarwel opponents. Shawn Norman followed behind him. As he was about to shoot the puck, he didn't and turned to the left, letting Norman do it. Norman shot the puck so hard that it went into the hair and fell down, right through the goalkeeper's legs and into the goal. The Krenorussian crowd cheered as Krenorus had won the game! But the New Jarwel team had not given up yet:

In a desperate attempt, they tried to score one more goal, which would make the game a three to three rather than a two to three. They moved with the furious speed of a desperate child running after his parents in a crowded morning market.

One of New Jarwel players, in the last minute, shot the puck at the Krenorussian goal. Ouilsonne started to move forward, bracing his legs for a slide. He was going to do the same move that guaranteed his team a loss in the match of Krenorus v. North Prarie, he was going to do that same move again! As his hockey stick prepared to hit the puck, it went a little too high, barely missing the puck. As it was slow motion, the crowd gasped. Luckily, Ouilsonne stretched out his right leg which hit and deflected the puck. It was over! It was a save!

K R E N O R U S had Won! Both teams congratulated each other on both of their stunning and professional performances. In the post-match conference, James Fogg-Czines said that: 'We have won this match and we'll win the next one!'. Only cheers and the sounds of 'Hear-hear!' pronounced as " 'ear 'ear!" were heard. It was truly a Great Game! This is Semy Jacques Le'Roi, signing off!

Some RP

The entire hockey team walked itself back into the locker room, in a recuperation area designed for them after the game. Cheering raucously, the entire team marched in to the benched room, men flipping and flying into things. After their first two games ended in bitter defeat, especially the 5-0 loss to Austrakia, the 9-1 win against Detroit-Sud was the morale boost the team needed. Feet tramped down the shining walkways as sticks clicked, and helmets butted in celebration. Swinging around his goalie’s pads, T.C. MacEleston was evidently one of the most elated men on the team. He picked up Kamil Yoshiro, and spun him around in his extreme happiness. He spoke, his voice booming over the rest of the team. “Oi! D’ win toda’ is all of us! We’re gonna make it out!” MacEleston continued to ramble. “All w’ got ‘do is jus’ keep playin!”

Yoshiro cringed. He was already tired of MacEleston’s extreme postulation, and his yelling grated inside him. Anger began to simmer in him, his ears flooding with MacEleston’s voice. Kamil muttered under his breath. “Stop it, you barking dog.” MacEleston, while having an extremely loud voice, had large ears, and could hear a pin drop. His voice changed instantly, from a loud cheer, to a guttural growl. “What was that, Yoshi?” Yoshi was the derogatory nickname given by the rest of the group, because of his short stature and high-pitched voice. Kamil buckled down. Tired of being bullied and used by MacEleston, he stood his ground. “Stop it, you son of a-” He was cut short as MacEleston’s open glove hit his face, sending blood through his face. They fought, backing themselves into the narrow square opening of the locker room.

The rest of the team, now inside of the collections of benches and padlocked boxes that constituted a recuperation area, began to fight. The South Fallsians had never been known for their discipline, anywhere in the world stage, and now was not a time. The team seemed to be split evenly, some for Kamil, and others for MacEleston. The offense was generally for Yoshiro, especially the bench corps. The defense had learned to rely on MacEleston, and they were for him entirely. It was man to man. Bodies on bodies. Fydorovich’s gigantic figure could be seen bulldozing Pasqualino with his chest, his ribs making a cracking sound. Antilles hunched himself over, trying to jump on the back of Fyodorovich, and pull him down to the floor. Fyodorovich’s head hit the floor, blood streaming out of his nose.

The coaching staff had lagged behind, taking slower cars than the players, as that was all that was available. The sixteen minutes that they were still driving constituted the largest off-field brawl by the South Fallsian team. The coaching staff walked in, with two men abreast fitting into the narrow hall. The first two coaches to strut into the hallway were the Assistant Goaltending Coach, and the Head Coach, A.H. Libertas was a small looking, very frail man, balding in the middle of the head. He had a round face, an egg-cup chin, without a beard. He wore a red cardigan, with a yellow collar and fluorescent white pants. Whistling, he set his course for the inside of the Locker Room, where the players were still breaking out into brawls. His hearing damaged from age and regular exposure, he didn’t catch wind of the brawl.

The goaltending coach, on the other hand, did. He half-shuffled, half ran forward, waving his hands. The man, O’Rourke, was massive. Standing at 7’3”, 386lb, he was almost impossible to bowl over. He had a massive beard, and a head shaved almost-bald. He had played as keeper and defense in his time on the national team, and he was strong for it. His voice boomed over the ruckus of fighting. “EVERYBODY! STOP!” The entire team froze, and took their hands off one another. Head Coach Libertas, now actually inside the locker room, took a gander at the situation. Men with bleeding noses, faces and gums. Libertas’s expression furrowed. ”I am tired of seeing all these people fight. The small, frail man stood up on a bench, and harangued the fighters.

“What are you doing? We are celebrating, after a great victory, and what you decide to do is fight each other? We should be embracing, not punching! We destroyed Detroit, and now we shall move on to Neu Engollon and the rest of those fighters. We are the #4, and we shall be #1! This is a team of camaraderie, not a dysfunctional team that can’t help itself for shit. We’re going to be the #1 team in the world, and this is not the way to do it! What if the General Manager hears about this? What if the fans back home hear about this? We’re playing to win, not to become injured fighting and lose! I love everyone of y’all, and I would hate to see you lose on injury because of this tournament! Are you with me?” He stepped off the bench.

Every player put their hand in, and raised their hand up to a cry of “FALLS!”
