Hello there.

Welcome to NS Sports and the World Cup. In the future, please direct any and all comments and/or questions to the designated World Cup discussion thread. We're happy to help you with any questions or problems you might have, but we (as a forum community) generally try to keep the signup threads clear of prolonged discussion (which, I'll also note, goes for most of the other major tournaments on NS Sports as well). Anyways, to answer your two questions:

First, what should you do now? Well, since you're signing up on the very first day of registration, the main thing you'll be doing a lot of in the near future is waiting for a few things to happen, one of which is simply for time to pass and other nations to sign up for the tournament. The other is for the selection of the hosts, which brings us to your second question of who exactly will be the tournament hosts. Currently, we have two bids for the World Cup from Banija/Free Republics and Valanora/Vilita (links to the individual bids can be found in the first post of the thread, if you're interested) which will be voted upon by members of the World Cup Committee (composed of those nations which have participated in and posted rosters for both of the last two editions of the tournament) in a few weeks' time. Please note that as a first-time participant that you are not eligible to host the World Cup, so please do not post a bid as it serves no real purpose.

In the meantime, I would suggest signing up for the Baptism of Fire by expressing your interest in participating in that tournament in this thread, which I see you have yet to do. The Baptism of Fire is a tournament exclusively for nations new to the World Cup and is where most of us started. Participating in the BoF is a good way to learn the ropes of NS Sports roleplay and gives you an opportunity to earn your first ranking points, which will help improve your chances once we get to the World Cup qualifying stage. Keep in mind that the Baptism of Fire is also still a ways off, so you'll also be waiting around a little bit for that tournament to start.

While you're waiting, you might be interested in signing up for another tournament on the forum that's currently accepting signups to pass the time, most of which will certainly start before the Baptism of Fire and World Cup. If you're just interested in soccer/football, I'd advise signing up for the Di Bradini Cup, which is our version of the Under-21 World Cup. If you're a basketball fan, you might want to sign up for the International Basketball Championships, which will be starting soon but is still accepting new entrants as of the time of this post. And finally, if you're an ice hockey fan, you could sign up for the next World Cup of Hockey, which also opened signups today.
