The Free Republics bid for Independents Cup 5

Nicholls Enterprises presents the following bid to bring the 5th Independents Cup to the Free Republics:

About the Free Republics

The Free Republics are a vast federation of Republics, spanning 3 continents, that pride themselves on being, from their perspective, the freest nation in the multiverse. In most of the Free Republics, you are free to do almost anything, so long as you have the money to pay your own way. Laws do very greatly between Republics, so be sure to read up on the local laws before entering a Republic. Republics are forbidden from restricting a number of basic freedoms, such as the absolute freedom of speech, the right to carry open or concealed firearms in public and the right to due process. Laws do exist against crimes such as theft and murder and there are laws against non-consensual assault, but one should keep in mind that the Free Republics defines consent in a broad manner. The Free Republics has faced political turmoil in recent years, with two administrations coming to power that ignored the federation's Constitution and violated many fundamental rights but under the leadership of Consul Nicholls and Consul Bolton, most of those laws have been repealed. The Free Republics also faced a recent rebellion by a handful of Republics which was put down by the Republican military. In order to address its chronic political extremism problem, the Free Republics has recently created "charter societies" within its territory that are autonomous entities under the Republican banner.

The Free Republics have entered the IAC on two occasions: IAC 2 and IAC 4 and are the defending champions of this tournament. The Republican National Soccer Team has also won DBC 28 and Cup of Harmony 66, finished second at World Cup 68 and finished third at World Cup 71.

The user behind the Free Republics has hosted or co-hosted almost every major tournament in NS Sports including the World Cup, BoF, CoH, 4 WBCs, 2 World Bowls, an IBC, an RUWC, 2 WCoHs, the X Winter Olympics, other multi-sport events, a CR and a CE as well as many other tournaments over the years.

Format/Tiebreakers

There are current 24 nations signed up. Regardless of signup numbers, I will utilize a group stage with a single round robin format and a knockout round, including a 3PPO. Some possible formats include:

24 teams - 6 groups of 4, top 2 advance to knockouts along with the four best 3rd place teams
28 teams - 7 groups of 4, top 2 advance to knockouts along with the two best 3rd place teams
32 teams - 8 groups of 4, top 2 advance to knockouts
40 teams - 8 groups of 5, top 2 advance to knockouts
48 teams - 16 groups of 3, top 2 advance to knockouts 12 groups of 4, top 2 advance to knockouts

The groups will be drawn using pots seeded with the post-WC80 KPB rankings. If an 8 group format is used, the playoffs will be seeded using the same method FIFA uses for the RL World Cup. Otherwise, teams will be seeded based upon their finish in their respective groups, with first place teams seeded 1 to n, second place teams seeded n+1 to 2n, etc., where n is the number of groups and the teams will play a bracket format without reseeding and with adjustments made where possible to prevent early group stage rematches. Tiebreakers will be: HTH results, HTH goal differential, goal differential, goals for, coin flips (done OOCly by scorinating tiebreaker games in a single go until the tie is broken).

Scorination & RP Bonus

Xkoranate will be used, with xkoranate (additive) style modifiers and the World Cup 68 version of the SQIS formula. RP bonus will be purely cumulative, will be fair to all styles of RP and will be very generous in keeping with the tradition of the IAC. There will also be a roster bonus. I will not be revealing my bonus scale. In the event that the Free Republics reach the knockout rounds, I will request 3rd party scorination.

If you have any questions, comments or if I forgot anything, feel free to post them.

Here's a question. In all the previous editions of the tournament, nations which possess a KPB ranking were given their ranking points if and only if they posted a roster. Do you plan to continue along this trend? Are you going to use KPB ranks at all for bonuses (since you only mentioned using them for Pot seedings)?\

The bid seems solid, so I'll be adding it to the OP and updating signups momentarily.

In keeping with the traditions of the tournament, nations will only be given their KPB points if they post a roster. There will also be an additional roster bonus on top of that, based on the quality of the roster.

Friends! Welcome to the sprawling isles of Yanghoon, your local home that is very-far-away-from-home, like really far - so far that we're probably in a different region that is very-far-away-from-home. The Yanghoon Football Association is the governing body responsible for the administration of football in Japan. It is responsible for the national team as well as club competitions. So, its the supreme eye of all things in relation to football in Yanghoon, and now it wants to invite you - yes that's right, YOU! To our wonderful lands, to eight stadiums, ranging in capacity form 15,000 to a 75,000-mecca in the nation's capital for some good, wonderful football competition! In a nation that mainly produces its money off illegal banking schemes it is time for us to deviate from the plot and welcome you to the various Y League 1 stadiums that are situated thru our isles - this nation, a wonderful nation of 12 million welcomes you to our proud lands, home of the ancient Edo peoples, we welcome you to Yanghoon!

Experience
    Razen Sports Daily [as Razenthuria]
    WLC 29 [co-host w/Banija, as Razenthuria]
    Various football friendlies

Staging
32 teams: 8 groups of 4, top two teams/group adv. to the k/o
    36 teams: 9 groups of 4, top team/group and top-3 second-place teams adv. to k/o
    40 teams: 8 groups of 5, top 2 adv. to k/o
    48 teams: 6 groups of 8, top 4 adv. to k/o

Scorination
I intend to use UH/SJG's SGIS formula used for the COH 68, with KPB modifers applied, of course, KPBs will be decreased by a percentage to allow for new teams that are in participation. RP bonus will cumulate, and there will also be a seperate roster bonus judging each roster. In the event I [Yanghoon] adv. to the k/os, 3rd-party scorination will be requested/

Knowing its extremely doubtful I'll win, I basically threw together a bid as fast as I could.

You absolutely are eligible and welcome to compete. With your signup, we've now reached an even 32 signups.

Since we have 2 bids already, and I'll be doing host vote things on that day regarding the IBC, the host bidding deadline will be 3 days from now, around late Tuesday night in Eastern time. Yanghoon, your bid has been recognized and added to the thread OP.

Any user which has participated in a previous IAC and have signed up for this IAC will be eligible to vote for host.

There's no 32 team cap on either of the host bids and there's no host yet so neither of you missed this tournament. I'd be willing to work with any number of signups.

This is correct. We've never had more than 32 nations and I don't see a reason why we can't. Perhaps I should've specified that signups are still open, because they are!

It's good that we're getting more than 32 signups, honestly. It'll be nice to have a large batch of nations.

Hi lads! Add me in if there's space!

With Juvencus' signup, we're now sitting at 36 signups total.

More importantly, we have a host to vote for. Below you can read over the two bids we've received for IAC5.

Free Republics
Yanghoon

If you have signed up for this edition of the IAC, and have also completed a previous IAC with that nation or any puppets, you may vote. Please send a telegram to THIS nation (IAC Organising Committee) if you would like to vote. Your options are to award the hosting rights to Free Republics, Yanghoon, or to Re-open Bidding.

In the interest of getting things along, as well as the fact that most interested parties will vote within a day or two, the deadline for votes is around Sunday night, 11:59 Eastern time. This gives you 4 days to vote.
