2018 IFAF WESTERN ISLES CUP

Image

Information
Welcome back all, its almost that time again. Planning for this years Western Isles Cup has begun ! We have big plans in store this year to bring fellow nations in the Isles a FIFA-like, authentic national soccer experience, but with a TWI bend.

This OOC thread is for any questions, host bids, comments, concerns, and to foster an environment for intra nation collaboration and assistance in factbook building, the tournament itself, logistics, etc.

What's New ?
- I am trying to cooperate with other nations to establish an international soccer federation that runs these things, like FIFA. These will be comprised of regional federations/associations (i.e - Gaeltic Football Assn.) that shall form the governing body and structure of the Isles Federation of Association Football.

- Scoring will be switched from xKoranate to leaguesimulator.eu Special Thanks to Michigonia
- Furthermore, we are planning for this rendition of the Isles Cup to include a few more teams than last year (24 in 2017) that make it to the cup based on performance in regional qualifier tournaments, rather than open invite like last year to attempt to give a more authentic, meaningful feel.

- If you are interested in hosting, heading your sub-region (i.e-Gael, South Mesder, Central Argus, etc.) please let it be known below.

- Will be developing some detailed factbooks on the IFAF, etc. soon. I implore interested parties to shoot me their ideas and suggestions.

- Other stuff is in works behind the scenes. Stay Tuned!

Host Nation: Corindia
Duration : Mid-June - July (qualifiers)
August 2018 - Mid-September 2018

Matches will be played at venues to be announced by the host nation. This is a inter-regional competition, with the best national teams of the Isles convening to clash for ultimate bragging rights, national pride, and footballing supremacy in this not-to-miss football event !

Scores, Standings, and Pool Groups shall be posted here : https://www.nationstates.net/nation=ors ... /id=865005
GFA Qualifiers : viewtopic.php?f=7&t=445399
Mesder Qualifers : viewtopic.php?f=7&t=44
CEFA Qualifiers : viewtopic.php?f=7&t=444959

Tiebreaker Procedures
A tiebreaker will be awarded under these circumstances:
1. Greatest number of points obtained in all group matches.

2. Goal difference in all group matches.

3. Greatest number of goals scored in all group matches.

4. Greatest number of points obtained in the group matches between the teams concerned.

5. Goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams concerned.

6. Greater number of goals scored in all group matches between the teams concerned

UPDATE ON TEAM ALLOCATION:

Updating Townside's post on my behalf yesterday, Dormill and Stiura has made a nifty map of the Isles Regional soccer confederations shown here :

Image

There will be 4 main Confederations : GFA (Gael), MSFC (Mesder) , UAFA (Argus), and CEFA (Eterna/Southern/Kavju/Nova)

Each of the 4 confederations shall send EIGHT national teams to the IFAF Isles Cup through performance in confederation qualifiers.

WHOS IN CHARGE OF THESE CONFEDERATIONS ?

GFA - Dormill and Stiura and Michigonia
MSFC - OPEN
UAFA - OPEN
CEFA - OPEN
Spots are open to run the MSFC, UAFA, and CEFA Confederations. Applicants and successful applicants to the position are required to collaborate and develop a factbook for their respective confederation per the development of the IFAF factbook/ info. Longevity in region + penchant for futbol is a plus.

WHO LEADS THE IFAF ?

- Once we fill confederation roles, the confederation presidents/vp will form a executive committee for day to day operations, rules, disciplinary action, and so on. A president shall be elected to lead the IFAF.

8 teams from each confederation means we can reach our original goal of 32 total teams, in authentic FIFA format (almost).

Bid to host, run a confederation, or shoot us any questions !

Awesome Logo, I'll add that to the main dispatch.
Corindia wrote:Oh, and what sort of info would you want for bids/ team submissions?

First things first, we need qualifying tournaments to determine which teams actually go to the cups. Michigonia and I are going to work on the qualifying tournament for the GFA, while the eventual heads of the remaining confederations do the same as well.

Personally, I would try to set things up either like how Michigonia has done with the Gael Championship Cup (https://www.nationstates.net/page=dispatch/id=1026598 the dispatch / viewtopic.php?f=7&t=443418 the thread) by posting your team's offensive and defensive rankings on a scale of 1-9 to be used on http://www.leaguesimulator.eu or you can try to do things like the NS World Cup. In either case, though, we must set up formal rules of some sort by which all events are simulated at all levels to ensure an even playing field for everybody involved.

Since we need some rules, I'll list a few cursory ones:

1. The FIFA World Cup Format shall be the standard by which the Western Isles Cup is organized.
2. A common simulator must be chosen before any match of the qualifiers or the Isles Cup commences, a vote on which shall be used should be held a week before qualifiers start so they can be set up for the tournaments.
3. A bidding process should be introduced for the host of the Isles Cup

All of these and more are up for discussion as time goes on.

1. Ground Rules
The Isles Federation of Association Football is a FIFA-like organization that is the highest international level of association football, futsal, and beach soccer. It is also responsible for organizing major international tournaments, most notably the Western Isles Cup that this thread is dedicated to. This section will cover some basic rules (subject to debate and change) regarding the function of this and future Cups.

  1. The FIFA World Cup Format shall be the standard by which the Western Isles Cup is organized.
  2. www.leaguesimulator.eu shall be the standard simulator for all tournaments organized by the IFAF, meaning both the TWI Cup and its qualifier tournaments.
  3. A bidding process should be introduced for the host of the Isles Cup, similar to the bidding process to the FIFA World Cup is preferable.
  4. All matches played are final, with no chance for review or replay.
  5. Respect all match posts like you would OPs.

2. Confederations
The IFAF is organized into 4 regional confederations: The Mesder Sea Football Confederation (MSFC) which covers the sub-regions of Four Passages & North Mesder Sea, Central and South Mesder Sea, and Wake Islands Area. The Union of Argean Football Associations (UAFA) which covers the sub-regions of Argean Sea and North Argus, Central Argus, and South Argus and Surrounding Islands. The Gael Football Association, which covers the sub-region of Gael (including the Prefectorial State of Arvan, the Protectorate of Gresswell Island, and the Protectorate of Lovosk). The Confederation of Eastern Football Associations (CEFA) which covers the sub-regions of Eterna Sea, Kavju Sea, and Southern Sea.

Each Confederation, obviously, needs at least one nation to manage it in a reasonable capacity, multiple will be allowed if those players (talking on OOC terms here) can coordinate their efforts.

In order to be a potential Confederation manager, a candidate must:

  1. Be on the TWI Map at the moment of submitting an application.
  2. Are considered an active nation under the map rules.
  3. Create a factbook or dispatch on the Confederation they wish to manage.
  4. Be located in the Confederation they wish to manage.
  5. Submit, publically, an application to be a manager of a regional confederation consisting of the dispatch alongside two sentences answering the question: "What will you bring to the table in regards to your confederation and the IFAF as a whole?"
  6. If multiple nations wish to collaborate on a confederation, a statement must be made in addition to the application mentioning collaboration partners.

After submitting an application, a public vote will be held within five days of the submission, if there are no competing applications submitted in that time, no vote will be held and the original submission and nation shall be granted the powers to manage their confederation.

3. The Western Isles Cup

Now we're in the meaty part. As mentioned by Orsandia in his last post, each Confederation shall send eight national teams to the Western Isles Cup following a qualification tournament. Until we have managers for each confederation, qualifiers cannot start, which pushes back the date at which the Cup can actually begin. How these qualifiers are precisely organized and performed are up to Confederation Manager(s) but a thread for the qualifying tournament displaying at least the connection back to the IFAF, alongside other active qualifiers, an actively updated bracket and schedule, and posts of each day of competition showing the following: the playing teams, their score (with score aggregates if applicable), the minutes of their goal, the percentage of time the teams had possession of the ball, goal attempts (with goal attempts that were on goal), yellow cards, red cards, and corner kicks made. Since League Simulator does not give these stats, the responsibility of making these is between the Confederation Manager (or OP of the tournament thread, whichever is relevant) and the players of the two teams, either via RP or other means.

After the qualifiers are done, the teams that advance to the Isles Cup will be organized into 8 groups of 4 teams each before the tournament begins. Finally, all nations that are on the map (and NPCs if the owner nations allow it) can compete in the qualifiers, and Confederation Managers should only use sign-ups to determine the skills and kits of any particular team (though kits themselves should just be the national colors) that competes.

4. Hosting the Isles Cup
Now considering not many people will want to go deep in depth about how their country will host, I will keep this final section brief.

If you want to enter your nation into the hosting bid, fill out the following application and post it here.

Alright, so Weinam brought up an interesting point by moving to compete in the MSFC qualifiers rather than the UAFA qualifiers. Considering Argus as of now consists of only a handful of active nations, and possibly a smaller amount interested in participating in anything related to the Isle Cup.

So, I have a few questions I want to ask in particular to the nations in Argus.

  1. Are you interested in participating in the IFAF Isles Cup?
  2. If yes, do you wish to compete as part of the Union of Argean Football Associations, or as part of any of the other three confederations?
  3. If no to Question 1, please briefly explain your lack of interest.
  4. If no to Question 2, would you be willing to work on setting up the UAFA and its qualifiers?
