Ohh hello hello.

Any news about the next WGPC season and who's hosting it? I have been away for a long time due to some technical difficulties. I can't wait for next season. Something inside my wants more racing, good thing I have my own races to do (currently on hold because pc dies randomly).

I already have an off-season story planned. Viska will be back!

Might need to change up the livery a bit, if anyone wants to be a title sponsor, just send a telegram as I can't access my discord.

Liventia is looking to host it a while after the Olympics ends I believe. Probably late fall or early winter?

On a side note, anyone good at making circuits? Just the circuit layout. I’ll handle the aesthetics myself

Discord is waaay easier. As a general rule for anyone reading, I'm on Discord a hell of a lot more than the NS site, and Discord is so much easier to use with image sharing than the TG system.

I'd like to participate in this soon, but I'm gonna need some resources to design or edit the racecar itself and clothes for my character. Where can I find such resources?

Hi again, Amenria!

If it's car liveries you're looking to design, there are a great many templates around the internet; here are a few from past F1 seasons or, if you'd like an up-to-date template, here's one for that too! You can download and edit them in any good image editing programme (you can pick up GNU Image Manipulation Programme if you don't have one).

As for race suits and helmets, not quite so familiar I'm afraid; they don't tend to be quite as much of a priority as car liveries for most people here, though they'd still be great to see! That said, you'll probably be able to find something just by looking around online; they aren't hard at all to come across.

I will point out that for most WGPC seasons competition for team slots is tight - or non-existent if the host for the year selects them by invitation - and there were plenty of notable new teams in WGP2 this year, so it's likely to be even tighter than normal. If you'd still like to design some things then feel absolutely free but just be aware that there isn't a guarantee that you'll get to use them.

So. We're back. WGPC 18 is on the horizon.

What we're doing here, then, is bidding for it. You know me. Multiple-time Olympic Games, World Cup, and indeed World Grand Prix Championship host.

Why should you choose me to host WGPC 18? Well, technically, only Audioslavia, Casari, The Macabees, Bostopia, Oliverry, Krytenia, and Ethane (myself recusing) have a vote. So… But anyway. If you did have a vote, you should choose me because I've proven I can do it, and let's be honest no one else has come forward to host it.

What are we looking at? As soon as this host bid is accepted, a signup thread will be posted. Read on for details…

SIGNUP LENGTH: Two weeks from the start of signups.

SEASON LENGTH: Ten (10) races, five test events. To efficiently complete the season without running into the low-RP December holiday period, the three pre-season tests (to be scorinated on a Monday, Thursday, and Sunday) and two mid-season tests (to be scorinated on days set in accordance with the season schedule) will be scorinated in the same week. There will be three days between each race session and the next practice session, meaning there will be no set day of the week for each session.

DRIVERS: Anyone may enter a driver, male or female. Drivers do not need to be human, but for obvious reasons and as per the accepted convention, they should be humanoid and/or have the ability to drive. Each user may enter up to three drivers, with no more than two per nation (i.e. maximum of 2 + 1 from a puppet).

TEAMS: Teams will be selected by invitation based on previous RP. Twelve (12) teams will be invited; if fewer than 10 accept, WGPC Motorworks teams will be added to make up the numbers (up to a minimum of 10 and maximum of 12 teams, depending on driver signups). If 10, 11, or 12 teams accept, that will be the final number.

ENGINES: All 12 invited teams will be invited to use their own powertrains including engines, or to use a WGPC Motorworks spec engine.

TYRES: Users may enter up to one tyre manufacturer per user. This list will be reduced to a final selection of not more than four (4), from which the 12 invited teams will be asked to choose a supplier.

CIRCUITS: Each user may enter up to two circuits, with a maximum of one per nation. Puppet nations must have previously competed in WGPC (with a driver, team, or circuit) to be eligible to enter a circuit. This list will be reduced to a final selection of 15, with 10 races and five test events. All four types of qualifying will be offered. If the bid is approved, one to-be-selected Grand Prix will run a feature race/sprint race system. No ovals, no real-life circuits.

POINTS SYSTEM: Points for the top 10: 25-18-14-11-8-6-4-3-2-1 (92 points). Two points for the fastest lap in a race. For the event with the feature/sprint system, the feature race will determine the grid order for the sprint race (top half of the grid reversed by finishing positions) and the points split will be as follows for the feature race: 18-14-11-8-5-3-2-1 for the top 8 (62 points) and for the sprint race: 12-8-4-3-2-1 for the top 6 (30 points), with one point for the fastest lap in each race. This ensures no single Grand Prix event awards more than 94 points.

RACE WEEKEND: At each race "weekend", there will be a practise session, a qualifying session, and a race session. Each race will be run to WGPC-specification 305 km (rounded up to the fullest complete lap). For the feature/sprint event, there will be no practice session (replaced by the qualifying session); the second day will be for the feature race run to 220 km (rounded up to the fullest complete lap); and the third day for the sprint race run to 140 km (rounded up to the fullest complete lap).

CLASSIFICATION: Each driver must have completed 90% of the race winner's completed distance to be classified as a race finisher and to earn points.

CHAMPIONSHIP STANDINGS: Two official championships will be maintained, the WGPC Drivers Championship and WGPC Constructors Championship.

ROLEPLAYING: There will be no limits on roleplaying. RP bonus will be deprecating over time.

SCORINATION: The latest version of The Racing Scorinator, with mid-race information turned off.

All areas of this bid (especially surrounding the feature/sprint race) are open for tweaking.

Thanks for your time.

Everything looks in order with the bid. The 'bidding process' is now closed and any eligible voters (Audioslavia, Bostopia, Ethane, Krytenia and The Macabees. Liventia, as bidder, has chosen to recuse himself from voting. Casari and Oliverry have been CTE'd for 10 and 12 years respectively) can vote to ACCEPT the bid or REJECT either by sending a telegram to Audioslavia or by sending a message via Discord to Audio#6005.

The voting process will end on Tuesday evening at 22:00 UTC, or as soon as a majority of eligible voters accepts the bid.

In all seriousness, thoroughly looking forward to things! Just to check, may I ask how long the pre-season will be? Not sure the bid itself says!

Other than that, the only thing I would say is to elevate the cause of users who competed in WGP2 III when it comes to team slot invitations. There were numerous excellent RPers who found their feet there and some promising new teams who came to prominence; we have a wonderful opportunity to advance both! Fairly sure that the appeal won't be needed, given Liventia's long experience, but I've always been one for making sure of these things; given my role in that season, it felt important to say.

You're correct. Two weeks; one week for general deals and the three tests in the second week.

I intend to do an initial 9-3 split in invitations (9 established users and 3 new teams), with a view to offering more new teams slots should there be any declined invitations.

Editing and emphasis mine. With three out of the five possible votes in we already have a majority. Liventia have duly been given hosting rights for WGPC18.

I rather liked the mid-race results, but it's no big deal whether we have them or not. I like the express COVID-adjusted format, though I hope I'll be able to keep up with the RP!

A question about this wording here, sort of similar to Nimbus' question about WGP2: my puppet I'm hoping to submit a circuit with participated in WGP2 but not in WGPC. I'm not planning on submitting any other circuit. Does WGPC here mean WGPC specifically, or just any WGP event? If the former, will I be allowed an exception since I won't be submitting a circuit from my main?

I'm really looking forward to this season, and I'm glad there's a bid. Can't wait!

Oh wow, didn't notice anything here until now.

I'm thinking of entering two drivers this time, hopefully they can get a seat. As for the circuit entry, I'm sticking with what I entered last time, I was originally planning on modifying it or entering a new circuit but I had problems with my PC.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to this season, so excited I can't wait lol.

If you're submitting only one circuit, no restrictions apply. The restrictions would only apply to a second circuit submitted by a user, and it would have to be WGPC, not WGP2.
