Yes, our standard for reliability really should be set by the individual whose cars are powered by literal explosions and whose team's design philosophy at various points in the past has been 'make it just stable enough to survive the one race'.

Audioslavia wrote:One final question to ask of the community (JNI not necessarily excluded, though naturally the viewpoints of drivers and team owners will have more weight) is this: In Formula One there is a limit of 26 cars allowed to start a race. The addition of McPahan will take us to 28 for WGPC17.
Do we want all 28 drivers starting the race or should the amount of drivers progressing from qualification to the race be limited to 26 (IE with the slowest two drivers not making it)?

I agree with the majority here. Also, it opens up more RP opportunities as well. It depends on the thought process of the users how to tinker with the possible scenarios a 28-car field may bring.

This makes me think of an idea for next season - tracks can set an amount of drivers passing the qualification stage (from 20 to 30). Like One-Shot Qualifying, this will be rare, although not as rare (maybe 5-7 races with limited drivers?). IC this would make sense for narrow, technical circuits such as street tracks.

Aye I had that idea myself. It's a little too late for it this season, but it's an option for the future.

I don't have time to anounce it ICly, but the Omni test will be held tomorrow or on Sunday. ICly it will probably be after the second pre-season test, but if I sign a driver tomorrow (which is unlikely I guess) they might ICly take part in the pre-season test on Sunday, if not in the test on the 19th, probably.
If you want to do that, you can call us Omnidirectional Timor as well...

The first of the pre-season tests in Mattijana was edited an hour after original scorination to add in Dalia Dahl of Eastfield Lodge, who I forgot about.

This is why there are so many tests. It's mainly for me

Personally, I would rather us not go down this route and have the same number of cars in every race. Either we have a fixed number of Did-Not-Qualify cars, or everyone makes it to the grid imo.

POS # DRIVER FASTEST LAP BEHIND LEADER
1 14 ▍Sigur Bjarnason 00:01:35.276 00:00:00.000
2 7 ▍Vijay Tripathi 00:01:35.277 00:00:00.002

Just in case anyone is confused, the fact that we have a difference of 0.002 seconds between 00:01:35.276 and 00:01:35.277 is due to rounding. The sheet calculates to many more decimal places than RL timing equipment. In order to save time we won't be making alterations to the read-outs. Just pretend official WGPC timing is future-tech. We have cat-people, sentient birds and even Krytenians driving this season, so it shouldn't be too much of a leap.

Since my circuit didn't make it, and hasn't been used in any GPs either, I think I can retcon it for the next season.

Right then. That's our last pre-season practice out of the way. From here on in, shit gets real.

McPahan will send offers to two drivers early next week. Hopefully on Tuesday. I already have an idea of which two drivers will be in line for the two seats. It's looking like we'll only need two.

Happy RPing, all!

TBH that entire Hodori qualifying is such a wild fluke. A bunch of people who did well in practice crashed, vice versa, and the test sessions mean really nothing. Interesting races incoming, I guess :D
