Prarie Classic Everything Thread

Welcome to the Prarie Classic! Nations from across the multiverse will soon arrive to determine who will come out on top.

This is the thread where users can post their RPs and rosters, and I will post the results.
How do I RP?
Well, to start you can submit a roster of your players. You can include additional things as well, like uniforms, coaches, and info about the team. Then, once you RP, there are practically no rules! (Just follow the actual NS rules). If you RP, a bonus will be added to your team, which increases the chance of winning. Use the RP Permissions box so your opponents can know the rules when RPing. You can also see the Guide to Sports RPing.
Uniforms!?!?
Yes, uniforms. If you want them, you can design them yourself or contact No Nonsense Sportswear of Filindostan, who is the best baseball jersey maker of the Multiverse.
Schedule
Tuesday, March 6th-Gameday 1
Friday, March 10th-Gameday 2

The Democratic Republic of North Prarie is a large, cultured nation. It has the South Pacific Ocean to the west, and the Lake Mountains to the south. It has a beautiful environment, with the mountains in the south, the beaches in the southeast, the lakes in the central, the plains in the west, and the forest in the north. Opposite to the United States, for example, it gets colder the more south you go and it gets warmer the more north you go. The top 3 sports are: Baseball, Superball, and Soccer (football). The President is President Zylstra, and the majority party in the 150-seat Parliament is the social democrats.

A feature report from Beepeean Occasional News Corporation.  BONC Sports Editor: Vonda Race.

BASEBALL, KNOCKING IT OUT THE PARK?

Despite having no professional teams or even a developmental programme, Baseball Beepee has entered into the Prarie Classic.

Baseball Beepee was formed following a request from North Prarie for candidates to be part of their inaugural tournament.  Baseball Beepee (BB) Head Homer Unn sat down to give a full interview to BONC.

BONC: Homer Unn you've signed up for the Prarie Classic when Beepee doesn't even have a baseball field.  Why?

HU: Well. A couple if reasons.  First, we think its important that Beepee participates fully in world sports to provide options to all Beepeeans not just soccer fans.  Secondly, we think its important to support fellow South Pacific nations, such as North Prarie, in their attempts to establish themselves as major sporting nations.

BONC: But no baseball team or facilities?

HU: Yes its a big ask.  But as we saw with the Beepeean Football Association, they were able to organise domestic leagues and cups quickly and efficiently.  They even have a national stadium. They're proving that organisation and drive is all you require.

BONC: As we've been accepted to the Prarie Classic, are you at all concerned that you'll be humiliated and soil the reputation of Beepee?

HU:  No, not at all.  Growth is important as is learning.  We may not be able to compete against larger, more established sporting nations but that in itself isn't a reason to not try.

BONC:  How are you going to find a team, practice and get yourself ready for this tournament?

HU:  In terms of potential players, we're looking at and out and about scouting amateur sportsmen currently and were looking at holding open days in the near future.  Once we have a team together we can practice and bring in coaches as necessary.

In terms of facilities, we're using this bid as an opportunity to find suitable land and locations.  We'll also be seeking registrations for potential franchises and that process is starting shortly.

BONC:  North Prarie is hosting this tournament with little experience.  How do you think its going to be organised and operate?

HU:  The North Prarian Government has already indicated its dedication to a variety of sports and the wider community.  This is an opportunity for NP to test and refine should they wish to go onto bigger things.  I think it'll be a lot of fun and lend my full support to the North Prarian Government for this venture.

BONC: Beepeeans haven't had any baseball exposure before.  Do you feel there's an appetite for it?

HU: Oh absolutely.  We've seen how keen Beepeeans have been on soccer.  I'm expecting positive feedback from the public on this.

BONC: And the Government?

HU:  Well we know the government is very busy running the country and all but I'm sure  they can support this.

BONC: Thank you for your time today and best of luck.

HU: Thank you.

The Beepeean Government has not responded to BONC's request for an interview.  However sources close to Minister for Income and Taxes Heidi Cash say that she is looking to find funding for a new Baseball centre within her own electorate.

The Prarie Classic has the potential to be Beepee's first foray into the world of international sports.  Further bids for international sports recognition have been in Beepee's preferred sport, soccer.

When asked about the potential tournament, sports fan Kikki Dabol said 'Soccer is my sport of choice, but baseball sounds fun too.  I'm all for it!"  It seems Mrs Dabol has some backing with a recent online poll suggest 55% of Beepeeans are for this adventure.

A report from Beepeean Occasional News Corporation.   BONC Sports Editor: Vonda  Race.

LOW EXPECTATIONS FOR BEEPEE

The draw for the Prarie Classic group stage has been met with bitter disappointment by fans of the Baseball Beepee (BB).

Beepee has been drawn in Group D alongside
Northwest Kalactin
Auphelia, and
Deerfenland

Whilst BB chiefs and players have been downplaying chances of any success, or even a single run in the competition, the draw against bigger opposition has extinguished any flicker of hope for positive results.

A dejected head coach Homer Unn's initial reaction was 'It's a group of death!' Before adding 'We'll try our best!'

Bruce Labare who was voted most likely to score in a recent online poll, tried to rally the troops. "We need all the fans to get behind us and cheer us on in word and gesture!"

Callers into a local radio talk show also did their best to remain positive.  Sports fan, Kikki Dabol, "its going to be a celebration of baseball".  Following her comments, Mrs Dabol was derided by the talk show panel.

The following excerpt has been released from The Auphelian Wheat newspaper:

Following their loss in the first game, Auphelian coach Citizen #5TY643QF had this to say: "They said it would be like cricket. It wasn't. Why are we even here? We were supposed to play a charity game for those children with cancer. I just . . . I don't get it."

Player Dekon Ketchon threw his glove on the ground and collapsed on the bench. It had been a very long day against the Praries. A very long and tiring one. Midand's team, the Doggos, might've been very good at baseball because of their dogball experience, but the ones from North Prarie were way better.
He rubbed his hands in his head. At least it was close. A large group from the Doggos stormed in, either talking extremely loudly or simply walking with sweat dripping off their heads. It was a long day for all of them.
"Hey Dek", one of them said, his head drenched. "Nice catch out there today. Actually thought you wouldn't make it."
"Thanks", Dekon said and he laid down on the bench and used the lockers like a footrest. They could still do this. They might.
He got up and thrust open the doors, more determined than ever.

(OOC: Sorry if I was gone, should I still submit the form?)
I used to be very active.

RP info
My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my runscorers: Sure!
Choose my lineup: Sure! But the TSP Llama is mandatory.
Godmod scoring events: Sure!
RP injuries to my players: Sure!
Godmod injuries to my players: Sure! Just try not to hurt the kids (we have to return them when this is over) or the TSP Llama (it is a regional treasure and we don't techinally "have permission" to make him play).
Eject my players: Sure!
Godmod other events: Sure! (Though we demand 20% gross merchandising)
Use DH: DH? Sure, why not!

Roster:
As our first baseball players in recorded history, this has warranted a re-naming ceremony for all players.

These people aren't actual professionals, just people who volunteered and/or were kidnapped.

Player #00000001 - A former cricket star who retired last year due to allegations of murder, he is our best player.
Player #00000002 - A middle-aged stay at home mother of 7, she is our best batter, using her skills at multi-tasking with her children to always hit the ball.
Player #00000003 - A wheat farmer, he was tired one day and found out the practice gymnasium was air conditioned.
Player #00000004 - A young schoolchild one of our scouts found walking home from school. We sent their parent a note saying "IOU One Child"
Player #00000005 - Same as #00000004
Player #00000006 - Same as #00000004
Player #00000007 - Same as #00000004 (The scout who gathered these children has since been suspended pending an investigation into paedophilia allegations)
Player #00000008 - An old woman with nothing better to do after mastering knitting, she decided to join to have something to get her out of the house.
Player #00000009 - A young immigrant man from America, he isn't very good but at least he knows what baseball is.
Player #00000010 - An orange vendor, we saw him throwing away expired oranges and offered him a few Auphelian Kronor to join.
Player #00000011 - A prostitute who escaped from the red light district, she says that with the money she gets from playing she can afford to finally see her family again.
Player #00000012 - We got desperate and instituted a draft. An average woman, pretty fast runner.
Player #00000013 - Another draft pick. Tall-ish man, buck teeth, okay at pitching.
Player #00000014 - Accidentally wandered into a recruiting headquarters while looking for a public restroom.
Player #00000015 - An old man who we may or may not have kidnapped from a nursing home.
Player #00000016 - A baby. At this point we just needed warm bodies.
Player #00000017 - A koala. It was the night before and we got desperate.
Player #00000018 - The TSP Llama. A surprisingly good batter.

BASEBALL SHOCK!  BEEPEE WINS!

The Prarie Classic kicked off today with style and the first round of matches taking place.

In a surprise result Beepee scored a 2-1 victory over Deerfenland.  The result took many in Beepee by surprise.  Beepee were expected to finish bottom of the table and score 0 runs due to the lack of experience within the team.

With Auphelia and, strongest team, Northwest Kalactin to come, even two losses are unlikely to decimate the euphoria around the Beepeean team.

Squad manager and head of Baseball Beepee, Homer Unn, could not hide his pride at the result. "We fought hard.  Gave it 110%.  And frankly were stunned".

The match itself was a low scoring affair with the pitchers on top throughout most the contest.

Beepee took an early 1-0 lead in the second innings with a remarkable team effort.  Kody Pombo scoring the hit which allowed Christian Mitchell the opportunity to run home.

Deerfenland pegged back after an incredible Home Run and some atrocious pitching by Josef Artemovich.

However in the fifth, Beepee star player Bruce Labare knocked in a single to send  Casey Thorlibin home and regain the lead.

Beepee held on for the win despite terrible pitching by the bull pen.

Bruce Labare speaking exclusively to BONC gave his reaction.  "We were often outclassed by the much stronger opposition, but working as a team we pulled off what must be classed as the biggest upset since forever."

Both Beepee and Deerfenland made it through the matched unscathed in terms of injuries.

The match was shown live on the Beepeean Broadcasting Corporation Sports and Games Television Service and had a viewership of over 13 million Beepeeans.  Following the victory, and the news of the win, the match was repeated with a viewership of 58 million; this makes the match one of the most watched Beepeean events of all time.

Homer Unn, praised the quality of the stadium and the fans in a BBC interview. "This has been great! The fans are great! Everything's great!".  An online BBC poll suggested 67% of respondents wanted to buy Homer Unn a thesaurus.

A 7-3 win pretty nice huh well coming of a run to the round of 16 in the previous world baseball classic we are one of the best teams in the world the next game seems to be against beepee which should be a easy win for the Northwest Kalactanians this game will be at ViZion air feild this will be a great game for the Northwest Kalactanians because it could decide if we make it to the playoffs or not for the game Jake bannon came and played some second base for the Northwest Kalactanian team and came with a double on his first hit and then he stole third base and got home on a hit by Wendell Barkley in the 7th inning to make the game 7-3 in the 8th stages of the while having the Northwest Kalactanian team scoring 4 runs in that inning and finished the game off with good defense

A report from Beepeean Occasional News Corporation.   BONC Sports Editor: Vonda  Race.

Beepee Faces Northwest Kalactin in Prarie Classic Game Day 2.

Following from the extraordinary victory over Deerfenland, Baseball Beepee (BB) now turns it attention to the toughest match in the group stage.

Gameday 2 will see the Beepeean squad facing Northwest Kalactin (NK) at ViZion Air Field.

NK were recently named "best team in the tournament " by hosts North Prarie and likely to run out easy winners against inexperienced Beepee.  A victory for NK will likely see them qualify as champions of Group D to the next phase.

NK are full of confidence going into the match, having had a comfortable victory over the Auphelian team, which included a baby, a koala and possibly someone kidnapped from an old folks home.  NK stating "the next game seems to be against Beepee which should be a easy win for the Northwest Kalactanians".

Beepee Squad Manager Homer Unn responded to those comments with "I dont disagree.  I am not discordant and i do not clash or contradict or counter or deviate or differ or dissent, from that viewpoint".

Mr Unn also gave his thoughts on the upcoming match.  "NK are a superbly powerful, able, athletic, big, capable, energetic, forceful, strapping, sturdy, substantial, tenacious, tough and are a  vigorous team."

Beepee's best player Bruce Labare, who was also present, interjected "NK are more than a match for us", whilst removing Mr Unn's thesaurus.

Unn continued, "We need to look out for all their players. The NK roster has such depth and quality. For example, Jake Bannon showed his class in their last match against Auphelia."  Unn also pointed out the talents of Ben Jenson (MR) and Adam Felix (C) who he confirmed "could probably win this match themselves".

Unn stated he was likely going to start with a similar line up as he chose against Deerfenland. However did indicate pitcher Josef Artemovich would not start given his dismal showing in Game Day 1.

In a show of optimism, an online poll stated that only 0.4% of Beepeeans predicted victory over NK.

A special report from Beepeean Occasional News Corporation. BONC Travel Editor: Dee Ryver.

NORTH PRARIE - A TOURIST'S DELIGHT

The Baseball Beepee team have been exploring the sights and sounds of North Prarie (and admiring the state of the art baseball facilities) during their freetime since the win over Deerfenland.

Travelling on the North Prarie Rail Network and viewing the beautiful landscapes of the host nation, Beepeean designated hitter Denis Derriux commented that "It has been glorious here in North Prarie.  It's my first time outside of Beepee and I like it here.  North Prarie should be on everyones visit list".

From mingling with fans outside the ViZion Air Field Stadium in Dover to trying local food at the Kentucky Fried Penguin and Wow Burgers franchises, the Beepeean team have experienced the best of North Prarie.   Second baseman, Sean Balwearie, said the food is "a treat for your senses".

Gracious hosts North Prarie have provided a high quality environment for all.  Baseball Beepee starting pitcher Martin Clemens was astounded to see North Prarie's national animal, the Loon, soaring majestically through the nation's famously clear skies.

Great views, great food, great wildlife... North Prarie really is a tourist's delight!

WELCOME TO MNN NEWS

I am your anchor Sarah Pahol, and this is MNN News. In the news today, Midand's new baseball team, the Doggos, a collection of Dogball players, has traveled to the great nation of North Prarie, where they played against them. While we lost that game, we place 3rd in our grouping. A lot of tired Doggos say that "at least we're not last". Now, we will go to our North Prarie correspondent with an interview with Dekon Ketchkon, who many say to be the best catcher on the team.
Jim?
Yes, thanks Sarah. So, standing next to me is Dekon himself! Wow, I'm excited!
*Dekon smiles*
Dekon: Yeah, that's literally what everyone says.
So, Dekon, what do you make of the game?
Dekon: Well, I mean, I was expecting to be a lot more like dogball, but I was wrong. While we might've had skills carried over from Dogball, the ones from NP were way better than I initially thought. However, we're not last, and we can continue to try and pull through.
Wow, Dekon, thanks. Anyway, we now return to Sarah, and by the way Dekon...
Dekon: Yes?
Can I get an autograph?
*both laugh as the camera switches*
I used to be very active.
Now I grovel all day about how inactive I am.

Baseball Bust Up!

Following the surprise 2-1 win over Deerfenland on game day 1, anticipation is growing in Beepee for the match against Northwest Kalactin.

The match against Deerfenland was watched by an estimated 71 million television viewers, making it one of the most watched events in Beepeean History.    editors note - the previous record was held by an episode of current affairs programme Questions Without Answers. Estimates suggest a similar number of sports fans will tune in on 10 March, despite most Beepeeans not being optimistic about  their chances.

Bumbling Baseball Beepee Head, Homer Unn, who has been widely mocked by Beepeeans throughout this tournament for his gaffe prone interviews had released a statement through PR specialist Luke Betta.

"Training has been going well for the team over the past couple of days.  The team has been continuing to bond and improve their basic skills."

Mr Unn and Mr Betta has refused requests for interviews or any further statements.

Despite the statement, reports have been circulating of a recent training spat between players. Details have emerged that Phafjord Pack players Sung Jun-Ho and John Maier had to be separated by teammates after an 'incident'.  One witness said that there had been rising tension between the players.  The witness said "This appears to have started back in Beepee.  Now, I don't want to suggest one of the players slept with the other's wife, but I hear she's pregnant and he's had the... you know... snip".

Star player Bruce Labare  "These things are never anything serious", he said "the media is just looking for a story".

Facing an already difficult task in their first international tournament, Unn will be keen to mend any rifts within the team before game day 2.
