Introduction

Welcome to Banija and Filindostan for the Silver Anniversary of the International Basketball Championships! Forty-eight teams will battle it out for the Multiverse's best basketball team, and only one can win them all. With a new champion to be crowned, teams will be eager to kickstart their campaign and use this tournament as a springboard for basketball dominance for editions to come.

This is the Everything thread for this tournament. Nations can post their rosters and roleplay posts, and hosts will post the scores per given matchday. Posts in this thread should be purely in-character (IC), and any out-of-context or out-of-character (OOC) posts should be directed at the discussion thread.

Roster Posts

Roster posts should include information about the team - the players, coaching staff, how they play, and so on and so forth. You may visit the IC thread of the previous edition of the IBC to get an insight on the different roster posts of the participants. Please include as much information as needed in order for you or your opponent to roleplay efficiently should s/he or you use game reports. Participants are also encouraged to include a roleplay permissions box, which contains at least the information below:

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose Scoring Events: Yes/No - allows the opponent to choose the way your players score (e.g. dunk, eurostep lay-ups, three pointers, etc)
Godmod Scoring Events: Yes/No - allows the opponent to roleplay unrealistic ways of scoring baskets (e.g. regular halfcourt shots, shots from the crowd, tumbling while taking a shot
RP Injuries to my Players: Yes/No - allows the opponent to roleplay injuries to your players
Godmod Injuries to my Players: Yes/No - allows the opponent to roleplay unrealistic injuries such as spontaneous combustion, or even instantaneous deaths
Foul my players out: Yes/No - allows the opponent to roleplay foul-outs to your players
Eject my players/staff: Yes/No - allows the opponent to roleplay ejections to your players or your coaching staff
Godmod Other Events: Yes/No - allows the opponent to roleplay unrealistic events, such as declaring war or instigating an invasion just because you beat the opposing team

Code:
Code: Select all
[box][i]My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:[/i]
Choose Scoring Events: [b]Yes/No[/b]
Godmod Scoring Events: [b]Yes/No[/b]
RP Injuries to my Players: [b]Yes/No[/b]
Godmod Injuries to my Players: [b]Yes/No[/b]
Foul my players out: [b]Yes/No[/b]
Eject my players/staff: [b]Yes/No[/b]
Godmod Other Events: [b]Yes/No[/b][/box]

It is the users’ responsibility to set their RP permissions in place, and put more specific instructions or guidelines on it. The rule of thumb is that if a user is not sure of his/her RP permissions, or if a user have an RP idea but is not sure if his or her opponent would approve to it, they should discuss it first before proceeding. If a user feels that his or her opponent did not follow his or her permissions, they may contact their opponent to resolve it, or just post it to the discussion thread. Blatant and unreasonable violations of RP permissions by a user will result to their RP bonus reset to zero.

It is also important to check first if the opponent have posted their roleplay before posting their own. Instances of retroactive continuity (retcon) in at least the opponents and users’ roleplays are generally frowned upon and will result to their RP bonus reset to zero. However, users may retcon only if the opponent did not follow RP permissions or did not follow through the last RPs of the user (e.g. player is injured in the last game and cannot play the next one but their opponent roleplayed the particular player as taking the winning shot in that next game).

Tournament Format and Schedule

There will be a double round robin group stage which will be held in Banija and Filindostan. The top two teams of each group will advance to a single-elimination playoff bracket, in which the top of the group will face a runner-up from other groups. National Information

The Kingdom of Banija is a country that classifies itself as a semi-constitutional monarchy. A nation that is freshly a member of Atlantian Oceania, it is led by the Kabaka(which translates to King), and the current monarch is Kabaka Albert III. The Kabaka, alongside with the Waziri(translates to Foreign Minister), whom he picks and dismisses solely at his pleasure, is the Head of State and responsible for the country's foreign affairs.

The Lukiiko(translates to Parliament) is a democratically-elected, constituency-based, first past the post, legislature that has the power of the purse and controls all legislative affairs for the country. The Lukiiko, every term, elects the Katikkiro(Prime Minister), who picks a cabinet and leads the government. Racially, the nation is 93.2% black. This is a very religious based Christian nation, as 87% of Banijans are affiliated with the state church, the Puritan Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, whose followers are called Puritan Mormons. Shia Islam is the next largest religious community at 9% of the national population. The Guardian Council, a council of 6 members, with 3 picked by the Kabaka from the House of Katende(the royal house), and 3 picked by the Church, has the ability to oppose laws based on religious grounds. It takes a 5-1 majority on the Guardian Council to reject any bill passed by the Lukiiko.

Due to the massive influence of Puritan Mormonism in this nation, they are relatively socially conservative. Abortion in this country is outlawed unless the mother's life is in danger, and the church's Universal Call to Motherhood, which teaches that the destiny of each and every woman is to give birth to children and raise faithful Puritan Mormons, has heavily shaped the nation's view on the role of women in society. Therefore, it is against the law for any professional sports teams based in Banija to have men and women on the team. However, this law only applies to teams based in Banija, which is why it is perfectly legal when foreign-based teams, either for away games or when Banija hosts tournaments, to have people of any gender. Meaning that the ban on co-ed sports does not apply at this tournament, except for the Banijan team itself. Consumption of alcohol and the recreational use of marijuana in Banija is legal.

Of course, Banija is a 3rd world country by modern economic standards. A general lack of development in Banija, we are a country with excellent sporting infrastructure, but little else. Most roads are dirt, and public transit within cities is via the boda boda, though each team will have two 45 passenger busse to transport players, coaches, staff, family, etc... To and from the hotel to the games and practices. The climate of Banija has a lot of natural rainforest and jungle, which means that there is no winter, only wet season and dry season. Temperatures generally range at their coldest around 60 degrees farenheit, and at their hottest around 110 degrees farenheit. For the duration of the tournament, average high temperatures will range from 60 to 85 degrees farenheit.

The two international airports within Banija are Istria International and Busukuma International, for the largest city and capitol city, respectively. All the cities hosting games have their own airport, but teams/fans will have to fly in via the two international airports, and then take a connecting flight to their eventual destinations. One controversial decision is the non-use of stadiums on the Busoga Islands for the tournament, where Banija played all of their home games in the 24th edition of the International Basketball Championships.

Stadia

The Kabaka's Court

Capacity of 13,500. Located in Busukuma, National Capitol Region

Translating to "The King's Court", this is the arena in the nation's capitol. While not a particularly large arena, it is known for being intimate, and with fans very close to the court, the arena can get loud fast. The court was originally built by Kabaka Mugisha III, the previous Kabaka of Banija, and the arena itself is a personal possession of the Crown, which is why the court has its name and is not allowed to have naming rights sold.

Back to Istria, Banijan basketball, confident that they can fill the football stadium for one game during the tournament, considering the success of the team in their previous tournament, have turned to the domed football stadium for one of the games. While it was seriously debated to use for the semifinal, they felt as if it would be better suited for a group game. And what better than the first matchup between the top two teams of Group A, who also just played in the AOCAF and are both in the Glorious Southwest? The stadium has played host to two NSCF Title Games and a World Bowl semifinal, and it will be the first time the stadium has been used for basketball.

PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF FILINDOSTAN

Geography

Filindostan is a small archipelago located at the depths of Esportiva. This nation is inhabited by Filindostanis, a portmanteau of the words Filis (OOC: Filipino) and Indos (OOC: Indonesian). It consists of four islands of nearly equal land mass. The four islands are named Pelita Raya, Tanjung Pagi, which are Indos-dominated, Kabishawan, and Kabunuklan which as Filis-dominated.

Image
Map of Filindostan

The capital of Filindostan is San Marco, and also its largest city in the Kabishawan Island. Although the capital also generates the most income and money for the nation, there are three other metropolitan cities, one in each other island. In Tanjung Pagi, the city of Jakulta is one of the cultural centers of the nation due to its history as the "other capital". San Rafael is known as the greenest city in the nation due to its lush forest and surrounding mountain ranges - there is only one major road that can access the metropolitan area there. The last one is the Tricities of Pelita Raya. Despite the long distance of Bandaroon from the other two of the Tricities, an expressway is connected such that travel time from either of Bandariyan and Bandarito only takes thirty minutes.

Due to the archipelagic nature of the nation, the primary mode of transportation in Filindostan is via air and sea travel. Inter-island airlines have been known and is a popular choice for people due to the promos they offer - in spite of this, air travel in the nation is not much regulated, as a result, only the Nasional Air, the state-owned airline, deemed to be the safest among the carriers, is the only airline allowed to fly passengers in international flights. The maritime transportation however is heavily regulated, with competing shipping lines and some small ships ply the seas to ferry passengers to different islands. This is because despite having bridges from the Kabishawan island to the other islands, there are no bridges connecting the other islands with each other. Bus travel within the islands themselves is a common sight, with San Lomar Bus Lines holding the monopoly of the bus operations in the outer islands. There are some routes that go beyond the islands via the bridges, but the SLC also monopolized the routes there.

There have been plans to interconnect the islands via three major bridges, but it is still in the planning phase due to right-of-way issues.

Economy

Filindostan is a third-world country by multiversal standards. Despite this, economists believe that the Filindostani economy and commerce are strong enough to withstand movements in the stock market and global recession. This is due to the fact that the pineapple and banana exports are one of the forte of the nation. There are many plantation of bananas in Pelita Raya and pineapples in Kabunuklan. Add the tourism income generated from Jakulta and San Rafael which makes Filindostan a good place to invest in.

The national currency of Filindostan is Rupeso/Rupiso (OOC: portmanteau of Rupiah and Peso/Piso, the national currencies of Indonesia and Philippines respectively). 1 NS Dollar is equivalent to around 100 to 115 rupesos.

People and Culture

Filindostani is the demonym of Filindostan. According to the latest census done in 90002, the population of Filindostan is 36,475,103, with 56 percent of the population being Indos and 44 percent being Filis. Majority of the Indos live in the islands of Tanjung Pagi and Pelita Raya, while Kabunuklan hosts many of the Filis portion of the population. In Kabishawan, around 65 percent are Filis and the rest are Indos.

Majority of the Filindostani population are Christians, forming 70 percent of the population - 95 percent of Filis and 50 percent of Indos. Twenty-five percent are Muslim while a meager five percent are atheists.

Festivals are a commonplace in the nation, with most fiestas being held in Jakulta, the capital of culture in Filindostan. Festivals ranged from flower festivals, to celebration of tunas, to football. Filindostanis are generally warm and hospitable, but sometimes can be worse as internet trolls.

Filindostanis are also generally present in social media - they even have their own social media platform.

Government

The government of Filindostan is a Democratic Socialist government led by President Dorigo Dutete and Vice President Renee Leonido. While they form the executive branch with the government's cabinet, the legislative branch is led by the congress, with three representatives per island form the upper congress - also called the Senate, and the lower congress, where each town or city being represented along with representatives of the marginalized groups, such as farmers, teachers or tricycle drivers.

National elections are done every four years - the last being the year 90000. Dutete has held the presidency since 89979 when his forces deposed the communist government. Presidents have unlimited terms, but once declared incapable to lead the country, the leader must step down from his/her position.

Sports

Filindostanis participated in the survey done during the national census in 90002 in which they were asked their favorite sport. A whopping 59 percent of the 12 and above population answered football as their favorite, followed by basketball, which gathered 28 percent, and 9 percent answered volleyball. Other sports included are rugby, handball and motor racing.

The most storied rivalry in Filindostani sports is the one between two San Marco teams, Fortunas and Venividicci. The two teams dominated football and basketball festivals, and games between them turned into social media spats and riots along San Marco.

Islands and Venues

For the tournament, Four groups of six are divided into four islands, with each island hosting one group. Three venues per island, listed by priority, were submitted to the SBF, with venue accreditation assisted by the Filindostani National Sports Commission (FNSC). The primary venue hosts two of the three matchday games, whereas the secondary venue hosts the remaining game. A tertiary venue is provided for teams to practice, and will host one of the games for the last matchday, if necessary. Access to the secondary and tertiary venues for the group stage of the tournament in Filindostan are free provided they purchased tickets for at least a matchday game in the primary venue.

For the knockout rounds, Yogyakulta, San Marco, Kabanalan, and Jakulta will host two games each.

Kabishawan (ka-bis-ha-wan) is the name of the island at the center of Filindostan. It is comprised of one highly urbanized city, a third class municipality, and two fifth class municipalities. Its lone city is San Marco, which is also its capital. This is the gateway to Filindostan, as the main airport is located here, and many buses, mostly owned by San Lomar Bus Lines, ply around the archipelago. Many of the offices and headquarters of many agencies are located in San Marco, being the busiest city in Filindostan. As such, heavy traffic is already a norm, especially in the city center. The government has proposed to decongest San Marco - Fipocor, the national power distribution cooperative in the nation, moved their offices from the capital to the southern Kabishawan in the town of Kabanalan. The government also decided to build the international airport and the then Islandic Stadium near the border of San Marco and Bagtasan.

Usually the cost of living in Kabishawan is high, due to the urban status of San Marco and its proximity to commercial buildings. Residential units usually cost 15 to 25 million Rupesos, which is five to ten times the cost of units in Jakulta, San Rafael or even Bandarito. Despite that, the transportation system in Kabishawan (especially in San Marco) is one of the most efficient in the country.

Image
Anetta Coliseum, San Marco (capacity - 17,257)

The Anetta Coliseum is one of the oldest sporting venues in Filindostan. Built in 89965, the arena has hosted multiple Filindostani referendums, basketball league games, concerts, boxing matches, and Hastags concerts. This is also a designated venue for the IUBC in the event of no host bids from other countries. Located in the city center and a train station dedicated to it, the arena is one of the most accessible sport venues in Filindostan. The arena is sponsored by Ismart, one of the biggest telecommunications company in the nation.

The only tenants of this arena are the national basketball and volleyball teams of Filindostan. Sometimes, Venividicci or Fortunas' home games against each other take place here. The arena security is very strict and tight, but with the right price, contrabands (illegal items) can be smuggled into the arena, save for explosive devices and deadly weapons. Games are usually jampacked, as this sport is the most popular in the Filindostani capital.

This arena will host two of Group H games. For the playoffs, one Round of 16 game and the finals of the IBC 25 will be held here.

Image
Kabanalan Astrodome, Kabanalan (capacity - 12,629)

The Kabanalan Astrodome, commonly known as Astrodome, is one of the arenas in Kabanalan, that is capable of hosting international games. Briefly owned by the Fipocor cooperative when they moved their offices from San Marco, the arena is now owned by the owners of the Kabanalan Sports Club 90004 sports club, and a major upgrade is being planned at the completion of the tournament.

The remaining Group H match from MD1 to MD9 will take place here. For the playoffs, one Round of 16 game and one quarterfinals game will be held here.

Image
Universiti Nasional Pilindostan Gymnasium, San Marco (capacity - 500 with standing areas)

This is the home of the Universiti Nasional Pilindostan Luntiang Aguilas (UNP Green Eagles), playing in the UCAAF and will participate in their first NSCAA season. The gymnasium is large, but it is not only used in basketball but for other indoor sports. Bleachers can be setup in ten minutes, and can provide support and training venues to participating teams in the IBC.

One Group H game for Matchday 10 will be held here if necessary.

Tanjung Pagi
Image
TANJUNG PAGI
Capital: Jakulta

Airport - Jakulta - Soetikno-Yawa International Airport - Jakulta City
White triangle - Massakar Port - Massakar
Pink square - Jakulta Esportiva Stadium (30,000) - Jakulta
Cyan square - Massakar TP Stadium (14,883) - Massakar
Tanjung Pagi (tan-jung pa-gi) is the easternmost island in Filindostan, comprised of one component city, a second class municipality, and three fifth class municipalities. These are: Jakulta City (city center of Tanjung Pagi and the Filindostani Capital of Culture), Massakar, Bonjing, Menodo and Bogo. Jakulta is one of the known tourist destinations in Filindostan (OOC: Think the beach life in Bali plus the waves of Siargao/La Union), having a city center with a lively night market, a white sands beach on the northwest portion of the city and a wavy and trechearous Filindostani Deep at the northeast portion. It also has a heritage site where streets made of blocks and kalesa and stone-age houses (OOC: Think Vigan) near the Jakulta Esportiva Stadium.

The cost of living in Tanjung Pagi is not that expensive than the likes of San Marco in Kabishawan. However, if you are a tourist or a visitor, then you'll be tempted to spend big for a week-long tour along Jakulta. I'm talking about the locals here - visitors may take a hard time looking for accommodation in Jakulta, and some are a bit pricey. Pro tip: rent a car and get a house-for-rent in either Bogo or Bonjing, which is south of Jakulta.

Jakultarena, Jakulta (capacity - 16,830)

Jakultarena is one of the newer indoor venues in Filindostan. Primarily used for the national badminton championships, the arena holds 16,830 in a basketball configuration, with adjustable lower box and VIP areas. The air conditioning in this arena is superb, such that the crowd are advised to wear jackets or bonnets to avoid catching colds. This is the home arena of the FBA's recent champions, Perokojak.

Two Group F games, a round of sixteen and the Filindostani side of the semifinals will be held here.

Image
Massakar Sports Garden, Massakar (capacity - 8,763)

Massakar Sports Garden was built to cater to Massakar's growing population and to be the regional center for indoor sports development in Tanjung Pagi. Home to the quasi-regional team, Perotapam, the arena has acceptable amenities, and a well-maintained ventilation system. The arena has room for redevelopment, and can be expanded up to double its current capacity.

One Group F game per matchday will be held here.

Image
Hendri Barsak Memorial Coliseum, Jakulta (capacity - 3,091)

Named after Universiti Tanjung Pagi-Jakulta's founder, Hendri Barsak, the Memorial Coliseum is the home gymnasium of the Pink Lions. One of the largest gymnasiums in Tanjung Pagi and in Filindostan, the well-maintained arena, with art deco designs, this is almost always selected as venues for different scientific conferences, as well as regional commencement exercises, with permission from the university itself, and various concerts. This arena, unlike other schools, has a separate security system from its campus premises.

A matchday 10 game if necessary for Group F will be held here.

Pelita Raya
Image
PELITA RAYA
Capital: Bandaroon

Airport - Bandaroon Airport - Bandaroon
White triangle - Pelita Raya Gateway Port - Bandarito/Bandariyan
Green square - Stadium Petrofilindo (22,783, expanding to 25,000) - Bandarito
Orange square - Olympiki Naturalisasi Stadium (24,763) - Bandariyan
Purple square - Hilura Bong Kanor Stadium (20,782) - Bandaroon

Pelita Raya (pe-li-ta ra-ya) is the westernmost island in Filindostan and is comprised of three component cities, and three fifth class municipalities. The so-called Tri-Cities are located in this island - Bandarito, Bandariyan, and Bandaroon (ban-da-ro-on). The other towns in the island are West Rava, Gurunsing, and Yogyakulta. Like Kabunuklan, the island is full of trees and lush forests along Bandaroon and most of its towns. Despite lagging behind Kabishawan and Tanjung Pagi in terms of economy and tourism, the Island prides itself with the fishing industry, particularly in the outskirts of Bandaroon, West Rava and Yogyakulta.

Many seafood restaurants are located here, testament of the fishing industry the island has. In Bandarito alone, there are tens of known 'dampa' (OOC: place where you can pick live fish and cook them with your desired meals), which may be covered in an upcoming article. Cost of living is much lower compared to the other two islands, but the quality of accommodations is inferior to the two islands but superior to Kabunuklan, which is considered to be the most remote of the four.

Image
Arena Olahraga Yogyakulta, Kota Otonomo Yogyakulta (capacity - 14,271)

Home to Perokotyog, one of the expansion teams in the previous FBA season, the arena is one of the most modern arenas in Pelita Raya. With budget from the assignment of the old municipality as one of the autonomous cities in the island, there are reasons why this venue, despite a two hour land trip from Bandaroon's airport, was selected over old but passable venues from Bandarito and Bandariyan. Since the cityhood, several high-rise condominiums and apartments were built around the arena, so lodging won't be an issue, unlike in the other two of the so-called tri-cities.

Two Group E games per matchday, one Round of 16 and one quarterfinals game will be held in this arena.

Image
Bandaroon Arena, Bandaroon (capacity - 7,172)

This arena, known as Maskapai Regional Pilindo Arena for sponsorship purposes, was built almost adjacent to the regional airport in Bandaroon. There are plans to further expand the arena to 14,000 once the tournament is completed, and once these plans come to fruition, their local basketball team, Perotres, will be moving in from their current Puroll Arena. They are known for good comfort rooms, and strict security, however, the noises of departing jet planes may cause disruptions to games, which they mitigated by noise-dissipating architecture. Once the expansion commences, they will have to re-do the architecture considering their problem.

One Group E game per matchday will occur in the Bandaroon Arena.

Image
University of Western Filindostan Bandaroon Gymnasium, Bandaroon (capacity - 850)

Home of the UWF-B Red Seahawks, this air-conditioned gymnasium can hold up to 850 people all in bleachers, and is located 20 minutes away from the Bandaroon Airport. One of the most prestigious universities in Filindostan and in Pelita Raya, and one of the perennial contenders in UCAAF basketball due to their strong reputation and recruitment program, before they were upended by UNP Green Eagles, and then UTP-J Pink Lions.

A matchday 10 game if necessary for Group F will be held here.

Kabunuklan
Image
KABUNUKLAN
Capital: San Rafael

White triangle - San Rafael Port - San Rafael
Maroon square - Kabunuklan Sports Complex (23,000) - San Rafael
Black square - San Mameng Municipal Stadium (8,782) - San Mameng

Kabunuklan (ka-bu-nuk-lan) is the southernmost and the most remote of the four islands in Filindostan. It consists of a component city (San Rafael), a second class municipality (San Mameng), and three fifth class municipalities (Tapia, Sinukabang-Kambing,and Birdinuguan). The other four towns in this island is almost covered by forest and plains, which is also featured in the city center itself. They take farming , responsible foresting and mining as their main source of income - and let's not forget that the San Lomar Bus Lines main office and bus depot is located in San Mameng, which was established to solve the transportation problems that lie in this island. Once the company got bigger and bigger, they focused on routes out of the capital city San Marco.

Of the four islands, this one's the least prosperous in terms of money and cost of living. The island also suffers from poor network coverage as only San Rafael and San Mameng have good quality of mobile network in the area. Due to the remoteness of the island, there is almost less to none night life in the towns, except for San Mameng and of course, the city of San Rafael. Also, this is the only island with no airport - Roll-on-Roll-off (RORO) ships are the only mode of transportation between Kabishawan and Kabunuklan besides the cramped up bridge in San Mameng.

San Rafael Sports Center, San Rafael (capacity - 10,284)

One of the oldest built arenas in Filindostan, 'The Sports Center' has been renovated many times throughout the years to provide indoor sports development to the City and to the entire Kabunuklan region. The latest renovation work to done was to change the ventilation system to a full air-conditioned arena, in preparation for Wardogs' FBA entry last season. In a survey held last season, the best food products came from this arena, and the providers of their products can show it to the international crowd visiting the country.

Two Group G games per matchday will be held in this arena.

Image
San Mameng Athletic Arena, San Mameng (capacity - 5,069)

Among the eight primary and secondary arenas for Filindostan, this is one of the least preferred by the bid committee, showing the lack of sporting infrastructure in Kabunuklan, and one of the reasons why sports teams here fail to flourish, apart from big teams and universities snagging them at youth or collegiate level. Despite several maintenance issues to its ventilation, the facility is still passable, thanks to the municipal government providing portable air coolers around the arena.

One Group G game per matchday will be held here.

Image
San Rafael University Gymnasium, San Rafael (capacity - 2,084)

Home to one of the biggest local universities in Filindostan, the San Rafael University Gymnasium is the venue of not only the home games of the Golden Bulldogs, but also the indoor sports of the Kabunuklan Games Festival held every end of the year. The bid committee only considered San Mameng as the secondary arena due to the capacity of the former compared to the latter. Should the gym can hold at least 80 percent of the capacity of San Mameng, this could have been the secondary arena instead.

A matchday 10 game for Group G, if necessary, will take place here.

Now the job is to regain the title with the same players who won Abanhfleft's first title in basketball in so many years, but do they still have what it takes? HOME STADIUM (The Fleftic Arena, Riuwiee)
Image
Presenting the Fleftic Arena, the largest indoor arena by seating capacity in the Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft

Situated in the north of Abanhfleft's capital city of Riuwiee is the National Sports Park, a 140-hectare "special national designated area" in which a majority of Riuwiee's sporting facilities are located. Standing out among the stadia and gymnasia is the massive and imposing structure and flat roof of the Fleftic Arena, officially the largest indoor stadium in the whole of Abanhfleft with its official stated capacity of 100,786 seated spectators for indoor sports. The structure broke ground on September 26, 2009 as part of the capital city's reconstruction efforts following the aftermath of the Holy Catholic Revolution of 2008 which left nearly the entirety of Riuwiee devastated, and construction was completed over three years later in 2012. The Fleftic Arena is the official home arena of the Abanhfleft national basketball team and has played host to dozens of matches during the International Basketball Championships. Aside from that, the Riuwiee Presidents of the Fleftic Basketball Association occasionally uses the Fleftic Arena as its home stadium when it plays marquee match-ups against well-known teams from the league such as the Malabon Black Ops or the Markovsky Red Army, taking advantage of the arena's huge capacity when the capacity of their usual home stadium, the Sterling Arena, is deemed to be not enough for games of such popularity. Aside from that, the Fleftic Arena has also played host to at least four FBA All-Star Weekends since its inauguration and opening in 2012.

As for the stadium's location, Riuwiee is the capital city of Abanhfleft and is home to over 20 million people. The Fleftic people are very crazy and passionate about basketball, and even though their home side the Riuwiee Presidents has been disappointing in the FBA as of late, the fans still come out in droves to support and cheer for their team.

THE DEMOCRATIC PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF THE UNITED SOCIALIST STATES OF PRIDNESTROVIA
NATIONAL BASKETBALL TEAM

Basketball is the second most popular sport in the Democratic People's Republic of the United Socialist States of Pridnestrovia. The nation's premier basketball competition, currently known as the Pridnestrovian Basketball Super League, has been around since 1967 and is generally considered the second oldest sporting league in the country, second only to the association football competition currently known as the Pridnestrovian Super League. Basketball in Pridnestrovia, like all sports in Pridnestrovia, is generally dominated by three teams: BC CSKA Tiraspol, known as the Army Team because of its roots in the Pridnestrovian Army's sports and fitness section; BC Admiral Novorossiysk, known as the Navy Team because their founders were the same seamen who founded FC Admiral Novorossiysk who were looking for a sport to play during the winter months, when football pitches were generally unavailable; and BC Dinamo Bender, the basketball branch of the Dinamo Bender multi-sports club and eternal rivals of CSKA Tiraspol. However, in recent years, other teams such as Kesselburger Cagers, Strigoni Macaresti, and Bacardi Derinkuyu have all attempted to challenge the dominance of the Big Three in the PBSL. So far, none of them have succeeded in winning more than a handful of titles against the collective dominance of the Big Three in terms of basketball championships. It is from these teams that the national basketball team of Pridnestrovia has been assembled, although help in the form of half-Pridnestrovian sons scattered throughout the multiverse have been sought out as well. The Pridnestrovian Republic knows that the chances of the team winning this competition on their first ever try aren't so good but they will want to see a good and respectable performance out of the boys in red and green. Up the Red Army! Glory to the Pridnestrovian Republic!

Cosumar National Basketball Team - IBC 25

Image

Information

Nation - The Fiefdom of Cosumar is a constitutional monarchy renowned for its wide-ranging (bordering on excessive) personal freedoms, diverse populace and landscapes, determined exploration of space, advanced technology and passionate sporting culture.

Region - Atlantian Oceania (far northeast)

Demonym - Cosumarite

Team Nickname - Stallions

Domestic League - The Cosumar Basketball Association (CBA). Following the NBA model, the CBA consists of 32 teams with 16 in each conference (Eastern and Western). After a season of 62 games, the top eight teams in each conference advance to a playoff for the CBA Title. Best-of-5 series are used in the playoffs until the conference finals, after which point Best-of-7 is used. Six editions have been completed under the modern structure, with the Goldstaff Lightning winning the most recent RPed edition for their first ever title. The IBC takes place every two domestic seasons. The Cosumarite delegation typically resembles the CBA All-Star Team from the latest season.

History - This is Cosumar's fifteenth International Basketball Championships, having participated in all but two editions since IBC 9 in Mytannion. The Stallions have always been moderately successful in the tournament, but their first major achievement came in IBC 15 when they made a run to the Quarterfinals, knocked out by #1 Saintland by the slimmest of margins. After similar success in IBC 16 and 17, Cosumar finally reached the pinnacle of basketball by winning IBC 18 over Ko-oren in a historic comeback from two games down. Now, as former champions and among the top teams in the world, expectations are high. They were eliminated early in the playoffs by Saint Kanye, Abanhfleft and Valladares in IBCs 20-22, however, and crashed out in the group stage in the last two editions under head coach Breckenridge. Another such result in his third IBC will doubtlessly cost him his job. There's no excuse for such underachieving given the strength the CBA has shown in the IUBC.

Team Style - +4

Roster

Starting 5

PG - WARREN CROSS - (6'3", 190 lbs, 30 yrs) - Goldstaff Lightning
Warren Cross is one of the biggest superstars in the Cosumarite game and a bona-fide future legend. He is the prototypical point guard. He has the ridiculous handles. He has the beautiful passing touch and is known for his creative bounce-passes. He has the floor-general gene too... a high-IQ leader who knows how to run an offense. Led the CBA with 14.5 assists per game last season. His one flaw is that he's an average jump shooter, but he is an exceptional finisher in the lane and free-throw taker.
Appearance: pale skin, short curly reddish hair, lean build, arm tattoos.

SG - TARRAN SKANNENDEV - (6'5", 215 lbs, 26 yrs) - Gundar Basket
After his fourth CBA season, the former Tamarskand Fief University star has cemented himself among the best two-way guards in the league. The kid can shoot. Few can match his pure stroke from beyond the arc. But you can't play him too close either because of his devastating athleticism and ability to finish with authority at the rim. A long, versatile attacking weapon, Skannendev has been groomed as the next go-to scorer for Cosumar and now might be his time to take up the mantle. He also plays with equal effort on both ends of the floor, an effective defender in the backcourt. Coach Breckenridge would like to see him become more consistent, however, and rid himself of the turnovers and questionable decisions we saw in the last DBC. Bjarne Herjúlfsson, an elite defensive guard, and Robinson Kamara, primarily a three-point specialist, are there on the bench whenever situation calls for a different look at the position.
Appearance: medium-length brown hair, olive skin, muscular build, boyish face.

SF - CHADRAK KVOTIRKOY - (6'9", 235 lbs, 31 yrs) - Cassandra Flames
Kvotirkoy is a pretty smooth player for someone of his size. His midrange game is lethal from any angle on the floor, and he just seems to turn and glide past opponents with ease if they misplay him. While he has lost a slight step since the last IBC, he's such a versatile scorer (still the reigning CBA scoring leader) that his presence will be critical for the Stallions' spacing. When he's not burying acrobatic midrange shots, he is a great screen-setter who will do a lot of the dirty work in unclogging the lane for Cross' drives. Despite his lack of top-end athleticism, he's sturdy and just as versatile on defense as offense. He can guard all five positions. Appearance: Medium Brown skin, tall tapered black hair with faded sides, headband.

PF - CASE SCANLON - (6'9", 245 lbs, 28 yrs) - Goldstaff Lightning
Scanlon is the best pure athlete of the starting line-up. With his supreme strength, speed and power, he's fearsome to behold flying down the court or on the block. His length will trouble any shooter. Scanlon is not the most polished player on offense, but he can posterize you in the open floor (1008 Dunk Contest Champion) or knock down an occasional three if left wide open. Appearance: Light Brown skin, short black hair, headband, substantial goatee.

C - TOZIN SUMMATA - (7'2", 235 lbs, 29 yrs) - Mallox Mavericks
In IBC 21 and 22, Tozin was included in the Cosumarite bench for his obvious size and potential, but he was very raw as a player and didn't see much playing time. That has definitely changed. Now in his prime, Tozin has become a more polished center with the Mavericks who can hopefully now also be relied upon at the international level. His positioning, defensive discipline, toughness and even a limited offensive repertoire have developed handsomely since he was a skinny stick-figure at IBC 22. He's still a bit slow to react sometimes and will never score from outside 10 feet, but he has come a long way. Tozin's best attributes, however, remain his 7"2 frame and incredibly long arms - which he uses to protect the rim to devastating effect. He will give Cosumar sheer size in the middle that we've never had before. Summata leads the CBA in blocks over the last five seasons. Appearance: dark brown skin, small afro, lanky build, goggles.

Bench

PG - Rugian Na'Rel - (6'2", 190 lbs, 33 yrs) - Dusk Wolfpack
SG - Robinson Kamara - (6"6, 216 lbs, 22 yrs) - Overkill BC
PG/SG - Bjarne Herjúlfsson - (6"4, 203 lbs, 28 yrs) - Kaldukosic Krushers
SF - Alvin Kuhn - (6'5", 220 lbs, 29 yrs) - Crawford Cormorants
PF - Amanda Inyuta - (6'9", 225 lbs, 27 yrs) - Helfin Heathens
SF/PF - Judas Stanton - (6'9", 235 lbs, 31 yrs) - Altamirano Artillery
C - Ovu Va'Devu - (7'0", 240, 26 yrs) - Na'Malsille Maelstrom
C - Lucianne Baudrillard - (7'0", 225 lbs, 25 yrs) - OAS Ocelots

A balanced bench, with high-potential young guns in their early 20s (Kamara) as well as experienced former-starters like Na'Rel and Stanton. Ovu Va'Devu is a beast in the middle and could overtake Summata's starting place by the end of the tournament, having just enjoyed a breakout CBA season with the Maelstrom. This very much feels like the optimal window for these two generations to achieve something together before one fully displaces the other. From the slashing drives and famous floater of CBA Finals MVP Rugian Na'Rel to the powerful midrange game of burly forward Alvin Kuhn, it is a diverse and talented group that Coach Breckenridge has at his disposal on the sidelines. Reserve center Lucianne Baudrillard, meanwhile, has teh chance to become just the second female to play for the Stallions in an IBC after tweener forward Amanda Inyuta.

The starting lineup begins at the point with floor general Hectare Yulssen. He is a savvy veteran of the IBC, leading the Royals to everything but a title. He has helped Vangaziland establish one of the premier programs in the IBC. He's a leader, calling out plays on the coach's behalf and his own improvisation. He can dribble, shoot and pass. Sometimes this leads to him doing too much, padding his stat line while keeping others out of the play. He has become more score focused in the IBC.

Looking to make an impact in the starting lineup is 22 year old Mark Ewingson. Expect Mark to score often. He's a shooter, but he has an aggressive post game for a guard. He'll try to get his mark off guard before driving to the lane. He'll use his athleticism to force his way. He's a hothead though and can be streaky as a result. He will try to shoot himself out of a cold streak.

Returning at SF is Christopher Ironwrought. Ironwrought is capable of putting up big numbers. His best games have been spread between long mediocre stretches. Many thought he would have had more of an impact. Still, he played a big role in helping the Royals advance to the IBC 24 finals. He's a flashy dunker who can dominate the paint against certain opponents.

Juell Sampsen has been known more as a roleplayer lately. He's been big on the boards and with a defensive presence. Expect a hand in your face when Sampsen is guarding you. Juell is a strong player, a fighter who boxes out for rebounds. In college and the pros, he is a scorer. Here he is finding his role on a talented offense. He's still a threat to put up big numbers on any given night.

Last but not least in the starting lineup, we have Chris Parkssen at Center. He plays internationally outside of Vangaziland in Abaja. Parkssen helped give the Ikeland Speed a championship in his rookie year. He wears the ring around his teammates and jokes about it. Of course, players like Yulssen have a few Vannish rings. Parkssen is a big body with his own aggressive style of low-post offense. Expect him to go back to the basket in an old school style. He's far from the archtype of the outside, perimeter center. Chris will be starting over Lonnie Knucks in a major team change.

Steven Eaglesen finds himself on the bench. He is looking for a starting role and may be the most ambitious player. Expect him to come out pass heavy. He'll also create shots for himself. His passing and handle are explosive. His personal battle with Yulssen for playing time can also take the ball out of the hands of others. The coach will have to reign in her point guards.

The team's third option at PG is Sarah Overson. She's the tallest PG on the team and she isn't afraid to drive. Her style favors the kickout pass from the lane. This only works on certain opponents though and can be locked down. Her crossover cannot be underestimated. She is less of a scoring threat than Yulssen and Eaglesen. She's fluid and can really open up an offense.

Carter, Orion and Battle find themselves subbing in at forward. They will each play based on what the team needs. Carter can help battle down low, another tall body to throw into the war for rebounds. Orion is the best passer of the forwards. He's a solid cog in the team's clockwork. If the offense is running into a stall, D.J. Orion may come in to add new angles to the offense. If the team needs another scorer, they can bring in Manny Battle. Manny was a player expected to start and shoulder the offense. He's never found the right run that he knows he's capable of. He may drop a big game or two if he gets enough time.

The three forwards show Vangaziland has a deep team in case of injury.

This leaves Jake Frost to fill out the roster as a general guard. He most likely wouldn't come in at PG, though he runs his offense at SG in the Vannish pros. He can score. Coach Foyelson can sub out streaky shooters in the hope the Frost can heat up. He can shoot well along the perimeter. His post game isn't the strongest, though he has a consistent layup. Frost is one of the top free throw shooters in the Vannish Basketball Organization.

A major name absent from the coffers is Tom Gravu. The Vangazi retired after the last VBO season. He started his time on the Royals on the bench before working his way into the starting lineup. Many hope the young blood which replaced him, Ewingson, can be the change the Royals need to take it all.

Great Chota National Basketball Team

Image

Uniform

Image

Great Chota's basketball team, affectionately named the Roundball Roses by the populace prior to their first entrance into a world championship, doesn't seem to be in the running to win the IBC, however, they are sure to excite the fans in attendance with their incredibly frenetic style that is considered one of the main sporting traditions in the landlocked nation of 22 million. Basketball is one of the three main sports in the nation, behind gridiron football but ahead of soccer.

To an extent, Great Chota is behind the pack compared to the rest of the nations in the IBC. There is no real national basketball league like there is in gridiron; the Great Chotan Basketball Tournament is a single-elimination competition between 400+ club teams in the nation. The national team is merely made out of tryout players -- very good ones indeed -- but most of these players are not professionals; SF Sequoya Jackson, one of the more famous players on the team, works as a computer programmer during his days when he isn't practicing or playing. The only professional, C Torrance "The Tank" Taylor, plays as a reserve in the NBA's G-League for the Santa Cruz Warriors.

The Squad

Starters

Position - Number - Height, Weight - Hometown - Club Team

PG - 2 - Kanuna - 6'1", 162 - Adah, Conisca - Seven Souls (Adah League)
SG - 3 - Tsiyi - 5'10", 140 - Noewe, Sidanelvehi - Bears (Noewe House League)
SF - 5 - Sequoyah Jackson - 6'6", 200 - Great Tellico, Tellico - All Of The Lights (Great Tellico Metro League)
PF - 50 - Wohali - 6'9", 230 - Great Tellico, Tellico - Black Rose Athletic Club (Great Tellico Metro League)
C - 33 - Torrance "The Tank" Taylor - 6'10", 250 - Great Tellico, Tellico - Santa Cruz Warriors (NBA G-League)

Analysis: It seems fairly obvious that this team is gonna be carried by Torrance Taylor, as he's the only player with American basketball experience in both the pros, as well as in college with Arkansas-Little Rock. His rebounding and physical presence inside makes him the key if Great Chota is going to go very far. Wohali is the other real big man on this team, and they're gonna need him as well. He led his team, almost singlehandedly, to the Great Chotan National Championship in 2017, after Black Rose Athletic finished a dismal 2-23 the year before. It is incredible to consider that Wohali's profession when he's not playing basketball is as a chef in his community's dining hall.

Sequoyah Jackson is the other really big name here for Great Chota's team. The computer programmer by day was, until Wohali showed up in 2017, widely considered the best basketball player playing in Great Chota. He's a classic swingman, and at 200, he's a little small to be a typical 3, but his shooting touch as well as his ball handling really makes the difference.

The backcourt is anchored by Kanuna, a small-ish point guard who meshes a very interesting combination of incredible passing ability that this fast-paced team is gonna need with a very physical style of defense that does tend to get him in trouble a lot of times. The real surprise starter though is Tsiyi. Great Chotan teams that travel to the city of Noewe always report being especially irritated by the foul-mouthed little guy at shooting guard, who is known to step out from sometimes as far back as 35 feet and splash 3's. However, nobody, except for him thought he'd make the team until coach Rebecca Strong called his number on the final day of tryout camp.

Together, this eclectic bunch are gonna need to really find their rhythm quickly if Great Chota wants to go far.

Bench

Position - Number - Height, Weight - Hometown - Club Team

SF - 10 - Jamar Brandon - 6'5", 220 - Conisca City, Conisca - Dimers (Conisca City Gym League)
PG/SG - 12 - Wesa Ward - 6'6", 195 - Great Tellico, Tellico - Tlvdatsi Club (Great Tellico Metro League)
SG/PG - 22 - Aaron McQuade - 6'3", 170 - Tellowe, Tellowe - 1000 Lux (Tellowe Club Basketball Association)
PF/C - 55 - Jean Girard - 7'0", 290 - Dawnstar, Dawnstar - Blizzard (City Basketball League)
G/F - 1 - Daniel Ramirez - 6'6", 205 - Great Tellico, Tellico - 8th Street (Great Tellico Metro League)

Analysis: Jamar Brandon is the clear 6th man coming off the bench here, and he adds a little heft to the 3 position when Sequoya Jackson is on the bench. Wesa Ward was thought to be the clear frontrunner to be the starting shooting guard until Tsiyi's breakout camp, and he's a player that can do it all; shoot, rebound, play defense. Aaron McQuade didn't entirely look the part in camp, but his reputation preceded him as a spark plug player that will jump all over the place for loose balls and play outstanding defense. Jean Girard, a French immigrant and corn farmer in the city of Dawnstar, is another "heft" player, as Blizzard in the city of Dawnstar's CBL have gone from merely average to Great Chotan power. Finally, Daniel Ramirez rounds out the team. His ability as a utility player is well known, playing all 5 positions for Great Tellico power squad 8th Street.

Coach

Rebecca Strong has made her name as Great Chota's best basketball coach. Since 2013, she's led 3 different teams to 4 different championships, and her style of play, better known to people in the Great Tellico Metro League as Beckyball, has been known to tire the opposition out. Her teams are also well known as lovers of the 3 point shot; they usually shoot at least 20 threes in a given game. In her life outside of basketball, she works on her neighborhood's Women's Council as well as being a secondary school teacher.

FILINDOSTAN
National Basketball Team
International Basketball Championships 25

The Samahang Basketbol ng Filindostan (SBF) is pleased to present the Filindostan National basketball team, to compete in the 25th International Basketball Championships, co-hosted by Banija and Filindostan. After an impressive debut last edition in Newmanistan, winning their group and reaching the quarterfinals, the Pula Agilas will hope to showcase their skills in front of their home crowd and hope to get a chance to win the tournament in their own backyard, now that perennial contenders Saint Kanye will not defend their title to focus more on their domestic league efforts.

About the Samahang Basketbol ng Filindostan

The Samahang Basketbol ng Filindostan (SBF) was founded after they split from the Filindostani National Sports Commission (FNSC), citing the FNSC's tainted image during the Multiverse Boxing Organization boxing tournament and the budget cut the agency suffered. They were the first agency to split from the FNSC and will oversee the development of Filindostani basketball as well as the Filindostani Basketball Association.

The SBF's headquarters are located in San Marco, Filindostan, adjacent to the International Union of Basketball Clubs (IUBC) headquarters, and is headed by Charito "Charie" Pamungkas.

Nickname: Pula Agilas (Red Eagles)
First Match: vs Ethane (64-81, IBC 24 group stage, Filindostan)
First Win: at Banija (95-87, IBC 24 group stage, Banija)
Overall Record: 9-3

Head Coach: Protacio "CIOT" Santos, Male, 43
Assistant Coach: ANITA Tanjing, Female, 34
Shooting Coach: Ronilo "MCBUCKETS" Mac Arthur, Male, 36
Defensive Coach: Michelle "CHEL" Abunda, Female, 38
Coach: Pocholo "CHOL" Lekatompessy, Male, 43
Coach: ANNAMARIAFE Weici, Female, 48
Coach: Enriko "ENRI" Batagliga, Male, 53
Captain: Cahya Farida "FARIDA" Indrajaya, Female, 33
Vice-Captain: Ricard "RICKI" Ricafort, Male, 28

Playing Squad

In Filindostan, people are often called by their nickname. Some players opt to put their nickname instead of the customary last name in their jerseys.

Centers

51 | C | Harry Rigobert "HARI" Smith | M | 23 | 7'2' | Venividicci
88 | C/PF | PAUL Pardosi | M | 21 | 6'7' | Fortunas
1 | C/PF | Angelica Marie "ANGGE" Ritonga | F | 27 | 6'8' | Fortunas

Hari, a very tall player from Venividicci, will be the starting center for this bunch of guys and gals. Height has been a big issue in Filindostan, with lack of talented big men plaguing Filindostani basketball. The lack of height of the centers are being compensated by their three point shooting and a pesky brand of in your face defense. Paul is a unique three and D center. His only problem is how to handle foul trouble, something that he has not figured out yet while at UTP-J. He is expected to be in the second unit with Angge being the backup should both centers run into foul trouble.

Forwards

44 | PF | Cahya Farida "FARIDA" Indrajaya | F | 33 | 6'7' | Perokojak Kota Jakulta
15 | SF | Hedder Sandro "SANDRO" Frias | M | 28 | 6'5' | Venividicci
55 | SF/SG | Stella Arielle "STAR" Delos Santos-Strauss | F | 26 | 6'4' | Fortunas
9 | PF/SF | Immanuel "IMAN" Sidebang | M | 22 | 6'6' | Perokojak Kota Jakulta
6 | PF | Antonio Ernie "ANTENY" Basada | M | 30 | 6'6' | Venividicci
97 | SF | KETURAH Sinuhaji | F | 35 | 6'5' | Perotres Bandaroon

Farida is the captain of the team and is most likely the glue gal of the team. She can be relied upon in post-up matchups and interior defense. The star of the team is Sandro. His athletic wingspan enables him to block opposing teams' shots, and was dubbed "The Flyswatter" by the Filindostani media. His offensive game is also ridiculous, as he can slash into the opponents' paint and either perform a difficult reverse layup, or, as most times, posterize opposing defenders and getting that and-one. Star is very reliable on three point shooting and can slot in the shooting guard position despite her being used as a small forward while at Fortunas. She's the younger sister of Domo of the Pula Garuda and the Fortunas football team. Iman, Anteny and Keturah are serviceable backups but nothing notable is known about the three.

Guards

8 | PG/SG | Ricard "RICKI" Ricafort | M | 28 | 6'2' | Fortunas
3 | SG | Jennyfer "JENNY" Farias | F | 23 | 6'3' | Venividicci
21 | PG | ABDEL Nahusuly | M | 27 | 5'11' | Perotapam Massakar
0 | SG/SF | Romarie "ROMA" San Martin | F | 32 | 6'3' | Perodos Bandariyan
41 | PG/SG | ESAU Sinupayung | M | 36 | 6'1' | Perouno Bandarito
7 | PG | Jose Maria "JOMA" Estrada | M | 20 | 5'10' | University of Filindostan (UF)

Joma, being still in collegiate basketball, is the surprise addition for coach Ciot. The speedy point guard from UF impressed the coaching staff enough for him to be included in the lineup. However it is Ricki, the vice captain of the team, that will be the floor general for the Pula Agilas. Jenny is the three point specialist of the team and she could be streaky - once she gets hot - which she is anatomically, it's hard for her to stop. However, her weakness is once she gets into a shooting slump, her entire game is being wasted with a string of bricked shots and airballs. Abdel is a hot headed speedy guard for coach Ciot, and has a short temper. He usually starts fights, but he's able to make his opponent be ejected (along with him) with his antics. Roma and Esau will mostly be subbed in during garbage time or when the game is essentially over, win or lose.

Depth Chart and Tendencies
Depth Chart
The below depth chart will be the most likely used by coach Ciot bar injuries, suspensions and sent-homes. Specialized lineups may be used in case of foul trouble or a stroke of strategy genius.

The second unit usually enter the game three minutes before the first quarter ends, but can enter as late as the last few seconds of the first quarter. The third unit enter the game when Filindostan is already leading by a very large margin (35+) by the end of third or if they have a large deficit (25+) going into the last five minutes of the game. Usually the starters finish the game.

Specialized lineups
Small ball: Paul - Sandro - Star - Jenny - Ricki
Three ball: Paul - Sandro - Star - Jenny - Abdel
Tall: Hari - Paul - Iman - Roma - Ricki

Tendencies
Due to the lack of height of the Filindostani team, they compensate what they lack by three point shooting and pesky defense. However, if needed, they may take the foot on the gas pedal and quicken the pace of the game, shooting the ball within ten to twelve seconds of possession. The team bar Sandro prefers perimeter shooting over layups and dunks - their favorite play is the pick and pop where the center or power forward screens for the shooter to eliminate the defender and create good looks at the basket. Defensively they play a 2-3 zone, sometimes switching to a man-to-man when the ball is outside the three point line. This switch takes the toll on the players, so it is rarely done on a regular basis.

The team does not react well on bad calls. Coach Ciot has a reputation to hoard technical fouls and ejections, costing the SBF money for fines. Players, particularly Abdel, can also go out of control due to bad calls.

Uniforms
Image

Filindostani apparel maker NNS supplies Pula Agilas' jerseys, as with most of the national teams of Filindostan. An all red with black and white semi-horizontal stripes is their primary, while in case of color clashes, they use their white alternate with red and black semi-horizontal stripes.

Team RP and Permissions
The below information will help teams RP against my team in case they RP first.

Most likely to... (in order)

Score big: Sandro, Star, Ricki
Score a buzzer beater: Star, Jenny, Sandro
Posterize opposing defenders: Sandro, Hari
Get a technical: Star, Abdel, Ciot
Be ejected: Ciot, Star, Sandro
Be fouled out: Ricki, Paul, Hari
Take the last shot/Score the winning basket: Ricki, Sandro, Star
Be posterized: Star, Iman, Farida
Get hot and shoot three after three: Jenny, Joma, Abdel

Fans
Filindostani fans are double-edged swords - sometimes they are most passionate fans in Filindostan, sometimes, they can be compared to the worst of internet trolls. Around five thousand diehard fans will travel to the host nation to watch their team play - but they usually bring their megaphones and flares with them - they somehow make it past the guards. Some fans are crazy enough to invade the arena and cause match delays. The special thing about Filindostani basketball fans is that when the basketball team host their hated rival or a team well below the standings, they bring kangkong (water spinach) with them and chant it all throughout the team introductions.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose Scoring Events: Yes
Godmod Scoring Events: No

About Lisander Basketball
Basketball is a sport with a quite slow growing curve. Not so slow as baseball or Gridiron Football, but not so fast as Rugby. After Lisander Rugby Union, Liga Nacional de Hóquei and Lisanderian Football Federation, Lisanderian Basketball Federation was the fourth selected sports federation to receive money from Ministry of Sport. They presented a consistent plan, enjoyed the power of media and sponsors and started to dig up a little place to plant the seeds of its evolution.

In the process of joining to the International Community of the sport, the Lisander Basketball Federation already hosted the IUBC Finals, and currently is applying to host one conference in NSCAA college basketball tournament.

Meanwhile, locally, FLB started its national professional championship, the Superliga. The first season finished some weeks ago, and the most valuable players were selected to play IBC 26. At the same time, FLB is partnering with National Academic League (LAN) to have competitive college teams.

The prospects are positive. If they manage well the resources, both financial and human, Lisander Basketball may be as great as rugby in some seasons. We can even dream with a veteran Eric Hahn lifting the trophy in IBC 29.

DRAWKLAND NET CORPS
Basketball is an avid sport in Drawkland, with huge cheering crowds and near-constantly playing pep bands the norm. If you've never been to a basketball game in Drawkland, you may want to bring a pair of earplugs. Or two. You'll need them.

As you may notice, the Drawkian team is sorta massive, as far as height goes. This is perfectly natural for Drawkians, as the national height average is 7'5" (they're not related to humans evolutionarily besides the shape and proportions and such). They also may seem like they're "middle-aged," but that's wrong. In fact, most professional Drawkian athletes don't retire until around the age of 40, since the average lifespan is around 150.

After having their best group stage in their history at 9-1, the Net Corps went on to get annihilated in the Round of 16 for the fifth straight time (once by Royal Kingdom of Quebec, once by Vangaziland, once Abaja, once by Ceni, and now once by Banija), the Net Corps is really ready to bring some fire and get further in the tournament this time. Maybe. We promise this time. Please god.

Instead of going the basic "All-Star team" route the Corps originally used, the Drawkian International Sporting Council (DISC) hand-picked team members, some high performers from last edition, a couple different all-star club players, and even a few collegiate players who REALLY shined in the NSCAA.
The team is Co-Ed, and coaches were selected from the Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion team's head coaches from last year's championships. The 3rd coach is the head coach of the current champion collegiate team. Same squad as always. We dunno what's gonna happen here, but hopefully we break the Round of 16 this time.

Postby Vangaziland » Tue Mar 06, 2018 2:29 pm

Basketball is the most popular sport in Vangaziland. The national sport is officially lacrosse. Basketball has become an honorary national sport in recent decades because of growing popularity. Basketball has a leg up over lacrosse because all you need is a ball and a park or gym to play. Domestic basketball games in the Vannish Basketball Organization draw large, star studded crowds.

International basketball is no exception. Numerous well known Vangazi were going to be in town for the Royal's first game against unranked Valliesta. Vangaziland will enter the game as heavy favorites. That doesn't seem to disturb those flocking from Vangaziland to watch the game.

One of Vangaziland's most famous actresses, Mina Oskoldson spoke on why she's attending the game. "This will be the first look at the Royals' IBC 25 team. Ewingson looks good", she said. "I haven't seen him play live yet. He might put up a lot of points against Valliesta."

Ewingson is being called a generational talent. He ended his VBO season as a 22 year old rookie of the year. He averaged about 25 points per game, 4 rebounds and 4.8 assists in a competitive league. It took Yulssen and the Emeros Zap to stop a streaky Ewingson. The most Ewingson could score on the national team's starting PG was 25. That's a big number to score against a guard known for tight defense, at least in domestic play.

It should be noted that the team's starting SF Christopher Ironwrought was also once called such a once in a lifetime talent. He has since become just another really good player. Ewingson still has to make his mark internationally.

Prince Fritjof Vang of Vangaziland won't be flying in for game 1, but spoke on why so many people wanted to catch the games live. "There are things you can gather about the game live that you can't see on TV. You can see the bench's reaction. I try to sit close to the Royals. That way I can read the coach's lips or even listen in. You sense the team's emotions. It makes for a much more raw experience."

Marcus Frankerssen, international fighter of recent MFC fame, plans to fly out to game 1. "I've been waiting for this season and I wanted to go as early as possible. I heard a few people were going and figured I'd join the crowd. I got one of the last tickets behind the bench."

The Vangaziland Royals could expect multiple celebrities on their proverbial shoulders throughout the season. There would also be regular working folk making the trip. 41 year old city bus driver Manny Phresh reserved tickets in the upper row for the first game. "I got a really good deal for this game", he said. "I ordered early so I got the best prices. This is going to be my first international game."

Vannish fans will be pack the house, putting up their share of cheers for their fellow Vangazi. The Vannish national team is expected to do well, but they will still have to show up and play each minute. There are a lot of promising, young teams.

Kita-Hinode and Pridnestrovia represent two programs with a chance to upstage the Royals. They will make for big games. The Royals must also stay consistent to compete with both teams. The resulting maelstrom should make for an interesting season and a close race. Two will advance. Rivalries may be crowned. The clock countdowns to the first game's tip-off.

"Jason and Todd"

Postby Drawkland » Tue Mar 06, 2018 6:02 pm

"All Section 3 passengers can now board. Flight 245, Section 3. Now Boarding."

"Dude, that's us," Jason said, elbowing his friend Todd in the gut. The two Drawkians were sitting in the terminal of Stratosphere City Airport waiting to board their flight. Of course, flying coach, they were the last to be called, but it was no big deal. They'd been saving up for this for years.

"Oh shit alright," Todd jerked up from the video he was watching on his phone analyzing the upcoming NSCAA season. The two got up from their seats and rolled their bags up to the desk and got their tickets checked. As they walked down the tunnel into the plane, Todd grinned at Jason.

"One step closer to Banija, man. I can't believe this is actually happening," Todd said.

"Totally, dude. And like I keep telling you, this year is our year. No Round of 16 exit this time! Plus, Saint Kanye is out. We could easily make a title run. Eaaasily."

"You better hope so dude. I didn't blow 2 years of paychecks to watch us get blown out in the playoffs again. You know nobody really expects us to make a run for this right?" Todd rolled his eyes at Jason.

"Come on man, stop listening to those so-called 'sports experts' on those talk shows," Jason said, motioning at Todd's phone, "They just talk crap for ratings. I got a gut feeling. Plus, we're ranked 5th in the rankings after the Yeezies dropped out. Is that worth nothing?"

"Pfff, when it's built on cupcake group wins and lame playoff exits I'd say it's worth nothing," Todd scoffed, as the two made their way through the plane aisle. They stowed their luggage and took their seats.

"Quit being such a pessimist man. We're here to have fun and watch basketball. It'll be just like that year we had season tickets at Sadeg State, dude. Badass. Oh- dude, look! Twins on the 2 o'clock," Jason said suddenly, discreetly pointing catercorner to them across the aisle. Two girls with long black hair and bangs had just put their luggage in the overhead racks before sitting down.
"I wonder if they're here for the IBC?" Jason grinned and winked at Todd.

"Probably not man, they look foreign. I hear foreign girls don't like basketball as much because most other countries only have men play."

"Nahh, dude, we should totally try to hook up. Look, there's a Kanye flag on that one's backpack."

"That's weird ... they kinda look familiar. I dunno, man. I feel like I saw them on the news at some point."

"What, the Kanyean news? You're still reading The Kibitzer?"

"Only for the sports articles, you know this. Their league is great. Best ballers around."

"Whatever you say man."

Hey, I was asked and given permission by Saint Kanye to write a storyline involving these two characters. We'll see how this plays out.

The Valladar National Basketball Team Roster
International Basketball Championships 25 - Team Info
Presented by the Valladar Basketball Association

About Valladar Basketball:

Basketball is Valladares' second most popular sport by number of players and registered clubs, behind association football, which is the most popular sport by far. Even though there is such a massive gap between both in terms of exposure and marketing, basketball has slowly gained momentum, especially between the young population, and has started receiving more attention from the media and the sponsors, which has helped reduce that gap. The establishment and consolidation of the Liga Superior de Baloncesto as Valladares' professional basketball league has also helped to the sport's growth in the nation as the league's top clubs have established the Valladar league as the top basketball league in the multiverse with their outstanding international performances. The sport is overseen by the Valladar Basketball Association (Asociación Valladar de Baloncesto or AVB in Spanish), which is sending its national team to this IBC edition in the hopes that it will make a decent showing and will take a new step towards establishing Valladares as a powerhouse of international basketball, just like it is at club level already.

In a distant corner of the region of space known as Sonnel, there is a building. A skyscraper, actually. One hundred twenty-five floors high, its tip in the clouds. There is no recorded history of where this building came from or who built it; it has been there, its owners lost in the annals of time and space.

As for why no nation has bothered to come by and claim it, or even knew about its existence, you'd have to ask the... being who controls it. It calls itself Purity, and the building the Purity Complex. There is no real history of who built Purity or gave it sentience, either. Or if Purity even has a body. The words you read here, though, are all its words, all authorized by it to be shared with the outside world.

Even Purity itself has lost track of how long it has been since it was formed; for the first eon of its existence, it existed alone, always trying to compute the optimal equation for the answer to the question that it could not shake. After enough time, Purity decided it would be best if it wasn't alone, so that it could actually trust the theories that it had. So, Purity obtained a file within the database of the Purity Complex that had the genetic files of beings, and cultivated them to form the first generation of citizens of The Purity Complex.

These beings do not know that Purity exists; they just think that they are a group of people living in a building in harmony and peace. They aren't aware that their building is special, for they have never been in any other building in their entire life. They've only read of nature, of weather, of all what constitutes truly living.

For sixteen years, Purity cultivated the beings into a community. Got them to have a government of sorts, a leader. Different roles. One thousand citizens strong, no more, no less - and then they even started to reproduce. It had to come up with a way of population control, and succeeded by having an internal system that determined which members were the least important. It learned how these beings grieved and celebrated the deaths and the births, and it started to feel the responsibility of being in a position that had influence over their lives. But then, it still had its directive to consider, and everything else fell to the wayside.

The day finally came when Stage 3 of its plan was ready to go. It was high time that these beings got to explore what the outside world was like, to interact, to learn. So, Purity started something new, a sports program. In three years, it became apparent who the best were at this sport called "basketball". So, Purity sent out the first beings to ever leave The Complex...

IMPORTANT RP NOTICE
To the outsider, it's impossible to tell the difference between the different men and different women. They. All. Look. The. Same. It's like there's one man and one woman, just copies of them. The man is 6 feet tall, and weighs about 190 lbs. The woman is 5 feet 9 inches tall, and weighs about 160 lbs. They are all muscular yet lean; they all have the same eyes, the same hair. It would be almost impossible to distinguish between them if it wasn't for their jerseys. It remains a mystery how they can actually tell each other apart, except that they can.

They also possess a variety of different "gifts", which include telepathy, telekinesis, and abnormal physical abilities.

The denonym for these people is "Purity".

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose Scoring Events: Yes

OOC: Inspired, sadly, by RL events even though its 2018 and this ridiculous "debate" was supposed to have been settled in 2011!

Schoolkids Destroy Video Games for No Reason
by: Artin Nyman

Students at a high school in the Petrograd suburb of Steelville have thrown away their video games in one of the most absurd "student protests" yet in the current wave of insanity following the Peace & Love High School shooting in nearby Smalltown, Plymouth. Consul Nicholls has already signed legislation to outlaw the dangerous drugs responsible for school shootings and ban dangerous "gun-free" zones where law-abiding citizens were not permitted to exercise their inalienable God-given right to defend themselves and those around them. Consul Bolton has also, to his credit, spoken out in defense of video games in between rounds of the latest Medal of Duty game, where he currently ranks within the top 100 on the multiversal leaderboards.

Unfortunately, kids at one school have apparently decided to destroy their games because some stupid "teachers" who shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a classroom have probably brainwashed them. According to a local FBC affiliate, a few dozen kids threw away copies of various games including NRWC, Medal of Duty and Grand Theft Surveillance games. Needless to say, we at GameNews believe these kids should have to turn in their gamer cards for participating in this little charade, if they were even gamers in the first place. I can't believe that this issue is seriously coming up again and I imagine most of our readers can't either. It is unbelievable that we're still having to defend our hobby's right to exist and the rights of devs to make whatever they want, without having to allow censors to corrupt their visions. Creative freedom is essential for the production of good games and we here at GameNews stand with the game developers and against any philistines who seek to tell them what kind of art to make.

I'm not supposed to acknowledge the existence of fringe politicians who attack gaming because of the no-platform policy that GameNews and all other major media outlets have adopted with regard to political extremist groups but I'm going to violate it just a little bit right now by letting you know that some fringe politicians are, in fact, attacking video games. The lunatic fringe is coming for your games, your guns and all of your other rights, so it is extremely important that you put down your games for a few minutes next year and vote to keep anti-gaming politicians out of office. Let's not forget that the lunatic fringe has won 2 of our last 3 elections and launched an open rebellion against our government last year! They are dangerous, they are determined and they will stop at nothing to return to power to do even more damage to our nation. That is why it is so important that you make sure to vote for a mainstream pro-freedom party. Your ability to continue playing games in the future may depend upon it.

Artin Nyman has been a gamer ever since he received his first Miktondo system as a gift at the age of 3. Since then, Artin has acquired virtually every console ever made and once had the highest PlayerScore on HotAir. After obtaining his journalism degree from the University of Nejax, he obtained his dream job working for GameNews. As he has grown older, Artin has come to prefer handheld gaming rather than computer gaming. It was no surprise to his friends and family when the former Doors gaming champion applied to be a handheld reporter for GameNews and was hired to report on the RepublicSoft Saint. He has worked for GameNews for over a decade and is currently our Editor-In-Chief[/quote]

Jasenko Markovic, who had just recently won the starting small forward job for the Republican National Team, was flipping through his print edition of GameNews as he prepared for the game against Valladares when Brandon Owens noticed the article his teammate was reading...

Brandon Owens - Jasenko, are politicians seriously going after video games again?

Jasenko Markovic - Only the crazies.

Brandon Owens - And, as we all know, the crazies tend to win elections more often than not.

Jasenko Markovic - True but this time around they're being no-platformed by the press.

Brandon Owens - That's not going to work. Under election law, they are still permitted to unconditionally purchase any advertising they want at the market rate.

Jasenko Markovic - So? Nobody actually watches commercials.

Brandon Owens - If nobody watched commercials, why would networks continue airing them?

Jasenko Markovic - True, true.

Brandon Owens - You know, I can't believe they think they can get away with this but they somehow do.

Suddenly, it was time to head for the court. Players filed out of the locker room and soon joined their teammates on the court. Valladares would undoubtedly be a tough opponent but this was a game that the FFR had to win in order to make the playoffs. Ceni, Valladares and the FFR were considered far and away the favorites in this group and only two of them could move on to the Round of 16.

The Wakuri experiment finished on a sour note as the manager found himself blacklisted from the league as a whole after several unprovoked incidents against the Uranai Déesses, who went on to win that season. Alas, both would be shaken off the horse by the Mashu Wolves, a team built upon players from the historically impressive Street Hoops hosted by Mashu. The federation, hopeful that this manager would be good enough to bring glory to the Hinodejin, gave him and the kids a shot. Notable, the team features players from other parts of the Empire besides the Joseon Plains and the Main Hinodejin Island, such as Catherine Bergljót (out of the far northern cold island of Reishima), Firuzeh Ebrahimi (hailing out of the sandy hills of Kairi) and Kamom Metharom (born at the Indian Coast).
