Vangaziland wrote:I get your point Vilitia, but it stands. Every person's writing is their work. I gave STK stuff to work with. This is not a debate. I am not going to spend all day replying to this. Saint Kanye, I asked you nicely. Let me write my own story. Don't find a work around. Don't go for semantics like Vilitia. Just let me do me. Everybody can see the posts I've done since WGPC 14, not to mention NS Sports since 2014. They're mostly detailed and do not talk about the players of others.

If I didn't follow my own advice, I'd get it. You can see years of me writing my own stories. Again, this is not a debate. I hope everyone is having a great day. I am for sure, so don't think I'm upset or grumpy.

I am just very clear. Nobody needs to take the time to write the entire season for every driver. Again, my posts are quite detailed and focus solely on my drivers. There is time when you have to talk about other drivers, making passes and stuff. You can mention stuff and be vague. I do not give permission for people to write my stories and that is NOT UP TO VILITIA to decide.

Everybody's work IS their property. Sorry that I actually am sticking to this, sorry that I actually plan to write my stories, but it's a simple request.

RP Permissions are not something invented for NS sports. Every RP has permission exchanges to one extent or another. Writing for another's character is not good practice. Imagine you were writing fantasy genre with elves and you wrote how another's fight went. This is a general guideline. Forget about NS sports and boxes for three minutes. It's not up to NS Sports to give people permission to write my story. Please refrain from dragging this on.

Since Vilitia wants to take jabs at me, the only micromanagement was that lap by lap summary I saw when I woke up. It's not a big deal for STK to not focus on my 3 cars in the field.

Honestly, the way you're going about things seems a little unnecessarily antagonistic. You want to write for your own characters. I get it. But there's less at-the-throat ways to get that accomplished. Why not try setting up a collab, instead of demanding SK wait for you when the cutoff is around when SK is active anyway (essentially locking them out of posting before the scoring race cutoffs)? Why not figure out how you want DNFs to work beforehand and send a TG to SK saying, "Hey, this is how I want my DNFs to work." so that they don't have to wait for you, instead of shouting at them and making demands and that ridiculous level of petty posting that [Attn: Saint Kanye] bit in your RP permissions box was. Getting defensive and throwing a tantrum aren't constructive ways to go about dealing with the matter.

Speaking of, SK did the play-by-play style last time, too. Nobody seemed all that bent out of shape about it.

Just to come at a different way, let me explain my line of thinking which would improve RP for all, as opposed to limiting it. Consider this passage.

Ellie seemed content just to draft off him for much of the middle 60 miles or so. She would pass occasionally, just for Shark to take back the spot. "We all know Shark will be in it when the curtains fall", Ellie said. "His Championship last year surprised everyone."

Shark soon ran into trouble though. Luckily, his car wasn't taken off the field, but he fell back to last and ran near the back for some time.

See the green text? That's not me being vague because I couldn't think of what to write about. That is called a 'tag'. Now Vilitia can respond with what incident he had. Except STK wrote that he spun. But what if Vilitia didn't want to spin? Maybe he hit a wall. Maybe he had a gas problem and had to pit. Maybe Vilitia doesn't write as detailed reports to focus on that. I do. (Not that Vilitia isn't detailed, obviously) That's okay, because this is a way we can write together.

Now look at the orange text. Notice the word selection. I left it open for Vilitia to determine how long he spent in the last spot. It is also based on the fact that it was his avg scorination time for the period. Part of me wanted to dial it back even more just in case he wanted to take each checkpoint not as the sector's average, but to only have been last for that lap. I think it says its the average, so I usually go with that.

I get that it looks vague at first glance. It's actually leaving room for another to add that detail. I do it all the time. It's an RP thing in general. I've been RPing since I was a kid in 2001. I've been on so many sites and forums. Just doing things one site's way is going to limit you. I get that can be thrown back to me, except I think it violates what I've learned about RP in general. I'm not going off 1 or 2 forums.

I'm easily taken for someone angry when I'm not. Jebslund! Posting an RP box is not a tantrum. You just got emotional because you saw one. So there, the concept of tags has been introduced. Is that a bad concept? As far as the tag being vague, note the detail I put into my drivers, cars and their events. The flow. It's not a vague post, I'd hope. STK is a great writer, I just want to write my bit.

Edit: Also notice the way I gave room for Shark to also lead the laps. I didn't write. Shark led laps a-e before Ellie jumped from f and led to z. This is not just me being vague, but leaving space for another writer. In this case, the scorinator also shows Shark led those laps on average. But I gave similar room to drivers whose laps Ellie lead.

If that's vague, then to help others write, I'll take the bonus hit.

Clarification: I think STK is a great writer and RPer.

That's all right. I can have my people notice/hear about the rats later. :)

Regarding the RP permissions thing, it's disappointing to see that conversation become so contentious, but it probably is worth discussing.

I would prefer that other people only decide how my drivers DNF if it is something that also involves one of their own drivers. If your driver and mine DNF in the same segment, it's fine to write that they collided. If none of your drivers is involved, I'd prefer if you left it open for me to decide what happened.

I inadvertently wrote in my RP that the Grande Mountain race is the Pink Love 500, though it is actually the Pink Love 350. Correcting this now, but just note that it is only a 350-mile race.

Kai Qiang and his crew will appreciate the taste of home. Li and Chu actually aren't used to seeing rats as food because it's a very regional thing.

I'm not sure if the rat-eating is from an ethnic minority culture or if it's just geographic, but it's borrowed from RL, and it's only in certain parts of China.

Sup, fellow racers.

Van: I understand your point and will take care not to write too much about your drivers from now on. But the point stands that you did not put your permissions in before the start of the season, or even before I RPed. And I agree that you could have taken it to TG because I thought it wasn't exactly the nicest thing when you pointed me out specifically.

Sherpa: Thea would want to eat rats at Jebslund too, she tried it at last season's Guilin 400 and honestly was fine with it.

Everyone: As I tend to RP early, don't hesitate to TG me if you wanted things changed, and we'll work something out. And I want to know if you want my last RP to stand.

And that permissions box can be something that can be used in NSSCRA 8.

Fair enough. I was hoping I didn't have to list them. I tried leaving a hint with the DNF. Keep in mind, you didn't necessarily write something off key in that post. Just like the DNF request, I'm making it before you write something I disagree with. I listed ways we can write together. You can still write about passing my cars when one of yours does. Then expect me to write about passing you back. That's the tag system. It'd be more fun to write with you. As I said twice in the last post, you're a great writer that I enjoy reading. There's also room to talk about my car's general placement on the field, just not for how many laps.

The tag was also meant to make sure you saw it and make completely sure so that there would be no cases of "I didn't see it".

Do you propose doing the scorination as well? Because, quite frankly, I'm impressed Newmanistan can do a field of 43 in an hour, considering it took me two hours to scorinate a field half that size for NASJAR, and it was a mess of data entry as it was.

It's a very tedious task. In time, I've learned how to make it easier/quicker, but it is a bunch of data entry that is necessary. The points table is the most cumbersome, not to calculate, but to format.

It's a very tedious task. In time, I've learned how to make it easier/quicker, but it is a bunch of data entry that is necessary. The points table is the most cumbersome, not to calculate, but to format.

It is a fun system to RP with, though. This is one of my favorite events in NS Sports.

I read the system Newmanistan created for this, and it's interesting indeed. Spreadsheets would be mandatory if I had to do something like that (to get all results, calculate average and generate formatting). It allows us to have something like the NASCAR Stages to RP. I personally would like to scorinate Lantis Sirenia 300, but lack of time divert me from this idea.

Okay, spot's yours. I likely won't have time to write what I was thinking of for it.
Jebslund is a nation of kerbals ruled by Emperor Jebediah Kerman. We reject tyranny, believing that rights should be protected, though we also believe said rights end where the rights of others begin.
Shockingly, we *do* use NS stats, with the exception of lifespan.
Singular sapient: Jebslunder
Plural Sapient: Jebslunden
Singular/Plural nonsapient: Kermanic
Note: When a verb can logically only be done by the sapient using/piloting/holding the object in question, then the appropriate demonym for the number of sapients is used.

Capitalism, Socialism, and Communism are ECONOMIC SYSTEMS. Stop conflating them with political systems.
