THE CLUB BASEBALL CLASSIC
What is the CBC?
The Club Baseball Classic (CBC) is a competition between the best domestic baseball teams within the world's best baseball leagues. Always consisting of eight teams, the CBC is a single-elimination bracket tournament.
When does the CBC take place?
The CBC takes place directly before the WBC, both IC-ly and OOC-ly.
Who participates in the CBC?
Nations invited to send a team will include:
a.) The four semifinalists of the most recent WBC,
b.) The host nation of the upcoming WBC,
c.) Additional nations, to be selected by the host, in order to reach eight total teams.
These nations will each select their national league's champions (or another team, based on their own selection criteria) to represent them at the CBC.
The defending champions of the CBC will also be permitted to defend their title; if their nation of origin qualifies to send a team to the CBC due to a top-four WBC finish or hosting the WBC, that nation may select two teams to represent them; the defending champion and another team.
Who hosts the CBC?
Whenever possible, the CBC is IC-ly hosted by the WBC host nation.
