Richardon University vs Mar Sara Tech

"They're 2-0 as well, here," John Garrett paced in front of the benches, towel waving at his hip, gloves on both hands, ready for the fight ahead as he spoke to the team, "We've had a nice start, and we lit it up last week. But here, we can't have a let down. You guys know that Mar Sara Tech is our biggest threat in the conference, year in and year out. They're going to be nipping on our heels all season, and if we drop a game here, we'll be playing catch up. Besides," he pointed up, where the stadium seating of Dietrich Stadium, named for a hero of the Ranorian War for Independence, was located, "We've got our home crowd here to bring some love. Let's give them a show tonight!"

The crowd, despite their home team being on offense, just couldn't seem to quiet down, John Garrett under center. It was a heavy look, with two tight ends and Melvin Strong in the back field, Kieran Kweo-Atkison, fresh off his suspension, and Larry Foster out wide, each over six foot. Against Mar Sara Tech's nickel look, John Garrett decided not to audible, confident that his veteran offensive line would be able to push around the Raiders' young front four.

A basic dive scheme was all it was, Strong surging forward behind his offensive linemen, jump-cutting to avoid a tackler, getting a few more yards out of that to make it second and two. But here, in Richardson, with the crowd on their side, this team had no intention of pushing the brakes, wanting to get this home stadium roaring as soon as possible. With seconds, Alexander Ethridge-Poe had subbed out at tight end, allowing Dylan Tweed to come into the slot, and the ball was snapped as soon as they were lined up.

John Garrett faked the handoff and ran left, just as he did so often on fakes, looked downfield for an instant, waited, and then dumped off the ball to Dylan Tweed in the ball to Atkison, who'd run a drag route, finding a hole in the shallow middle of the coverage. He avoided the first tackler with ease that seemed almost unfair, and then it was Atkison in the middle of the field against five defensive backs coming for blood.

The noise within the stadium slowly climbed with every second he was on his feet, every tackle he avoided, and every block thrown by one of his teammates. After a few seconds, it was Atkison on freshman safety Hannes Sundberg, and that matchup didn't last long.

Sundberg went for a big hit, going low, and Atkison leapt straight over him, charging forward for only a bit longer before turning around at the ten and waltzing into the end zone for a 66 yard score. And if that wasn't enough, the Governors went for two on the following play to go up 8-0. Unlike on the road, the team, at home, preferred to give their home fans an exciting performance, and normally, that meant more points. Especially if they had the opportunity to do it against a team as good as the Raiders.

"Third and long, the Raiders are already down 8 in this first quarter. Martensson drops back, finds his man one on one! Millard Johnson lost Timmy Lindberg! It's a jump ball, one on one with the safety Lindberg goes up and Jason Dim tip it up! Wolfson has it! Judas Wolfson, the true freshman, in his first NSCF game, has the interception! He's coming back down the field, avoids a tackler, going across, and straight through the quarterback! Wolfson! All alone! Toooouchdoooown Governors!"

Indeed, Judas Wolfson, one of the best athletes on this Richardson squad, and possibly one of the best on the field, was playing in his first international game, and, just four plays after Richardson's other suspended player, true freshman Kieran Kweo Atkison, scored on offense, he did the same on defense.

When Mar Sara Tech got the ball again, they pounded the rock, to some success. Richardson's three freshman defensive tackles were good prospects, but they were not experienced, grown men, and the Raiders managed to wear some time off the clock before punting again, managing to get into the second quarter with a black eye, but still breathing at 15-0. Richardson would put up another pair of touchdowns, both off the arm of their quarterback. The Raiders got their only points on the opening drive of the third quarter off of a long field goal, and forced Richardson to punt on the next drive, impressively, when they went with the running game, John Garrett's pass going incomplete on third down, a rarity.

As the Raiders began to come back up the field, marching 34 yards, they began to get some confidence back, some momentum coming their way, and tossed the ball out to Holmgren, their freshman runner, who made Alexander Carthage miss and came up the field. Just before he got to the sticks, however, Wolfson came in like a thunder bolt, laying a hit on him that could be heard throughout the sidelines, the ball coming out. Wolfson recovered it and went down immediately, his second forced turnover of the game coming at a good time with the fourth quarter rolling around.

With a 29-3 lead, the Governor offense played a bit more conservative ball, running the ball for six straight plays before getting to the fifteen yard line and a third and long.

This time, it was freshman tight end Gunther Krause straight up the seem for a 15 yard score to get up to a 36-3, and game-icing, lead. The Governors would get one more turnover, a Millard Johnson interception set up by two straight tackles for a loss by Isaiah Bryce, and Melvin Strong ran the clock out, and ran in for a touchdown on the game's final play.

The 43-3 win was a milestone in many ways. For one, it was a dominant performance against one of the NSCF's better schools, one that had been undefeated up until this point. Secondly, in only Judas Wolfson and Kieran Kwe-Atkison's first games back from suspension, each scored a touchdown. Wolfson had 9 tackles, 1 INT, 1 FF and recovery, a sack, and a defensive touchdown, while Atkison hauled in 9 passes for 147 yards and one of QB John Garrett's four touchdowns, his second consecutive game with four passing scores, in fact. It also marks his second four hundred yard outing. At 3-0, now, the Governors have the lead in the Big Eight early, and will hope to hold it throughout the season.

Cold Hill vs the University of Constantinople

On the other side of Ranoria, Cold Hill had its best performance of the season against Constantinople, tearing through them for a 37-7, no-holds-barred victory. The first quarter saw each team with a touchdown run, Cold Hill's coming from freshman runner Hue Ross, who turned in a 13 carry, 53 yard performance on the day, as well as racking up his first two career receptions. The young back has quickly become Cold Hill's workhorse, because while the Katterfield brothers can run, they are more effective hauling in passes as mismatches to the defense than they are running down a defense's throat.

Cold Hill, despite the score in the first, was unable to convert the field goal, but it wouldn't hurt them in the end, putting up 14 points in the second quarter, one rushing and one passing touchdown from young phenom Thorn Davis, while Angelo Gordon and the defense behind him began to impose their will, with a total of 6 sacks on the day, all coming from the second quarter on.

In the third quarter, the Buffalo put up another field goal, Davis firing a touchdown to Carl Amerson, but he was picked off, as well, for the third time this season, and would have cost his defense their second half shutout had Clarence von Arris not come down with his first interception of the year, leading to a field goal that put them up 30-7. The final score would come, again, from Thorn Davis's arm for a 37-7, dominating performance.
With this win, after the Mar Sara Tech Raiders were dominated by the Richardson Governors, the Buffalo sit second in the Big 8 conference at 2-1, by a margin of point differential.

UC grinds out away win with another defensive gem
by Peter Brinson, National College Football Editor

(New Jarwel) University of the Commonwealth earned their second straight victory in NSCF 18 with a 17-7 win over New Jarwel University at the Ionist Stadium in front of 54,700.
The Warriors relied on their defense, which struggled during the 2017 domestic campaign, for the result. It held New Jarwel to 309 total yards, and the only touchdown scored against it came as a result of a poor UC punt which allowed the Blue Lions to only need to cover 49 yards for their only score in the 4th quarter.

UC immediately responded, after Trevor Roop returned the ensuing kickoff to the Warrior 36 yard line. QB James Knapke hit Teo Redding on a 64 yard touchdown to restore the 10 point advantage UC had held since the 1st quarter.

New Jarwel won the toss and elected to defer to the second half. UC took their initial drive 59 yards on 8 plays to set up Nick Fields for a 38 yard field goal to put the Warriors ahead for the first time in the current competition.

The hosts struggled against a Commonwealth defense that took a more aggressive defensive approach than they had shown in their first 2 matchups. The Warriors corralled the running game and used their physical advantage on the line of scrimmage to limit New Jarwel to 44 yards rushing in the first half.

UC extended their lead on when DT Iziah Lunsford forced a fumble, which was recovered by James Sanford at the Blue Lion 32 yard line. James Cleveland scored on a 12 yard run 3 plays later and UC led 10-0, a lead they would carry into the halftime break.

The game then descended into a punting exchange until Joseph Davidson mishit a kick 1:38 into the 4th quarter which resulted in New Jarwel's only points. The Warrior defense then resumed their command of the game's course following Redding's touchdown and never allowed the New Jarwel offense to threaten until the final whistle.

UC will now return home to face Analoch City University with a record of 2-1, which leaves them in 3rd place in the Mineral Conference.

Warriors prepare for 2nd home tilt

by Lindsay Enscoe
The Sunday Observer

Belle Haven--The University of the Commonwealth haven't shown their usually potent passing attack so far in this NSCF 18 campaign, but the fact they haven't needed it is one reason they sit at 2-1 heading into their next game against Analoch City University's Rebels at Jacob Gleason Field Sunday.

"What Rob (Timmons) and the Dreisen duo (brothers Alex and Andy) have accomplished so far is beyond anything we could've hoped for when we started out", UC coach Scott Newell said during his media availability period, praising his defensive coaches. "If you had told me that we would only have 3 touchdowns in the first 3 games, I would've said we would almost certainly be 0-3. The defense has come up big for us time and again so far, and I can only see us improving as we move along".

The Warriors have shown the ability to put together drives on offense, but the scoreboard hasn't reflected their game by game improvement. "Our efficiency has improved every game, and we haven't made bad mistakes to give the ball back in bad field position. I think we're getting close to being able to score touchdowns rather than field goals, but we have to iron out a few more wrinkles in important down-distance situations to get those extra 15 or 20 yards that make the difference", was how Newell replied to a question about the present state of his team's offensive play.

Analoch City (1-2) comes in having lost 2 straight contests following an opening week victory over New Jarwel, UC's last opponent. They were handily beaten at Vietussia Academy 45-10 last time out and Newell believes they will be hungry to set the ship right. "This will be their 3rd away game out of the first four, and I think we might see a team closer to the one that lost by a point to Humaliwo than the one that got beat last time out. I think they will throw the ball more than the teams we've played, so it will be vital that we continue to get good play from the front four to control the line and allow us to play coverage without having to blitz."

The kickoff will be at 17:30 and the game will be seen on CS2 with pre-game coverage at 17:00.

Chapter 3: Storm in the North
A good 8 years ago...

There was a knock on the door, and Angelo looked up from where he sat on the couch, a middle school student at the time, wondering who would possibly be visiting the home of the Gordon family, one that consisted of himself, his brother and sister, and their mama.

In this neighborhood, though, it wasn't always a good thing to be knocking at the door, and whe the six foot tall, two hundred pound seventh grader rolled off the sofa to see who this unannounced visitor was, he was surprised to see not one of his friends, not an uncle or cousin who needed a place to stay, but a short, fat, white man.

Coach Gin, head coach of the Bavaria Middle School Hounds, was at the door. Even stranger, he had two large, brown bags in his hands. "Coach? What're you doin' here?" He was completely confused. Yeah, he'd screwed that one rep up at practice, but it wasn't nearly bad enough for an in-house visit...was it? Unless he was here about that little scuffle, of course, then he could be in trouble. But his attention was quickly drawn off by whatever was in his coach's hands. "And what's that you've got in your hands?"

"Don't worry about all that. Is your dad home? I-"

"His pa don't come round here no more." Angelo's mother stood in the doorway to the kitchen, looking skeptical, "Now come on in. It ain't safe for an old white man like you to be 'round these parts."

Acknowledging that, Gin stepped in, "May I speak with you, then, Mrs. Gordon?"

There was a brief pause, but she nodded, "Yes, come on into the kitchen, and you boys," she looked over to her two sons," Stay outside." As she went into the kitchen, Angelo and Deangelo glanced at each other, knowing that just wasn't going to happen, and sat against the wall, so that, even if they couldn't be seen, they could hear what was being said.

"I've been told that Angelo has been caught in multiple altercations with other students in the last couple of weeks." Angelo had to fight the urge to deny it, even if it was true, but he kept silent.

"Oh, I'll whip that b-" They could hear the sound of chair legs being pushed back against the floor.

"No, wait," a pause, "It's happened twice, and both times, it was the classic 'give me your lunch money.' I've spoken with him about it. He said that money is a little tight for your family, and you can't pay for their lunches, is that right?"

There was a pause, a long one, and they didn't hear a reply, but their mama must have acknowledged it, otherwise their coach wouldn't have continued talking.

"Look, I brought you some food here, that should help, but I talked with the school, and the boys will be able to eat their lunches now, so you won't have to worry about that, at least." Again, the sound of chair legs against the floor, "That's all I needed to say, I'll be off, and if you need anything, don't be afraid to call me."

As Gin was walking out, there was a muffled, 'thank you,' from the kitchen. He turned, waved, and walked out the door. As he was stepping out the door, Angelo grabbed his wrist, looking down, unable to meet Gin's eyes, tears welling up in his own.

"Thank you."

Rather than punish him for using his size and strength to get his way, and simply made the problem worse, the coach had figured out what was going on. He wasn't a particularly well-off man, but he knew that he needed to do something, and he did. Just to help one of his players out.

The memories would stick with the two throughout the rest of their lives.

Chapter 3: End of an Era:

"What's going on with Judas?" Richard Steinheil asked the only person he knew to ask, John Garrett. "Don't get me wrong, he always goes hard in practice, but his demeanor just seems different."

"Couldn't tell you, coach." There was a lull in their conversation as the quarterback dropped back, simulating the snap, and fired the ball into a net while the other position groups worked their own individual drills. "Maybe he just realized what sort of example he's been setting for the other guys." Ulrich Ray, the QBs coach, sent each ball back with nary a word, and John Garrett let two of them fall to his side.

"Did you say anything to him?" Steinheil watched, silently impressed with John Garrett's accuracy, the Q failing to miss the bull's eye on any of his throws.

"Yeah," he wouldn't lie to his head coach, "I did. Him and Kieran both, before our game against Mar Sara Tech. I let them know that their antics were affecting not only our own team's opinion of them and chemistry, but their chances of continuing their careers beyond the collegiate level." Another pass hit its mark.

"Well, it seems like you got to Wolfson. Atkison...we'll have to wait and see." Steinheil looked back to the linebackers, and shouted something towards Alexander Carthage about not over-scraping.

"I would hope so. Can't have them acting up in the next few years. This is a good locker room, it'd be a shame if they ruined it. I don't think they will though. It'll take some time, but they'll grow up a bit, I promise."

"I'll take your word for it, then."

Steinheil wasn't the only one to see the change in his demeanor. Wolfson was going through this practice the way it seemed like everyone else was: With their nose to the grindstone, and without all the jawing back and forth.

He hated it.

He was used to dishing out a somewhat heavy hit a few times each practice, but given that the other guys didn't seem to appreciate it, he refrained. Because he wasn't any better than they were, even if he was more talented, and a more capable player, he wasn't any better than anyone here. That's what he was trying to engrave into his mind. And it was hard. Because these were guys who he'd been putting down since their first day of camp. And now? Now he was trying to see them as peers and as friends.

It would take time, but he didn't want that. He wanted change now.

Because at this rate, it was only a matter of time before he snapped.

Besulyt beats Humaliwo 20-6

The retractable roof was open as a drizzle came down from the clouds on a calm Krossan night. Well, calm outside of The Airfield. Inside the stadium there was a noisy crowd and a determined football team looking to keep its winning streak alive.

On the first play there was a 8 yard run by fullback Anton Debuluwele. The second rush was a 13 yard run by Jaimo Ruoho. The next run he was stopped for a gain of a yard. Ruoho ran it again for 5 yards, leading to a 3rd and 4. Three receivers and a tight end lined up. Debuluwele was behind Petersson. "F-Mid, leg!"Petersson called a audible. The x-receiver turned back and approached the line of scrimmage, the Humaliwo DB lining up next to him. Man coverage.

Petersson called for the snap and handed it off to the tank of a man, Anton Debuluwele. The FB ran for 15 yards. The next play was a 28 yard run by Ruoho for a touchdown.

On Humaliwo's first offensive drive they ended up racking up 53 yards over 5 plays for a field goal. On the next drive there was 4 plays. Two rushes both by Ruoho for 8 yards, a QB draw for 4 yards, and a play action pass. Petersson stepped back under pressure and ended up throwing an interception. Luckily the same happened to Humaliwo, with their QB throwing a horrible pass into the arms of Tuomas Heikki.

After 4 rushing plays for 45 yards and a pass by Petersson for 8 yards Ruoho took off again for a 22 yard touchdown run.

The rest of the game was uneventful. Two field goals by Besulyt and one by Humaliwo. Another interception, this time by Mikko Jarvi, to seal the game. Multiple sacks. A victory for the Bombers, for Besulyt, and for Krossa.

The Big Risk- How Horace Browning, with his job on the line, came to trust the starting quarterback job to a true freshman

Image
Chae Heung Kim scrambling for a first down in his team's 26-0 away victory over Fair Haven State

HERZEGOVINA CITY- Northern Moravica had a great win yesterday, on the road against Fair Haven State. It was a 26-0 victory, showing that there was no letdown for this team after their big rivalry win against Loyola-Istria. That tends to happen in college- the game before or the game after a big game is a letdown, as the team is either looking ahead or is too emotionally exhausted and spent to bring what it takes to win onto the field after leaving everything on the field the previous week. And that game took so many ups and downs. Chae Heung Kim held his own against Isaka Jawara, the superstar quarterback out of Loyola-Istria, and both teams were emotionally spent by the end of this won, which took so many turns in a 38-37 victory.

It is a testament to Horace Browning that he was able to refocus his team. They had a tough game against Fair Haven State coming up, who was the only other undefeated team in the Celestia Conference entering the week. Historically, Northern Moravica has been dominant against Fair Haven State, and what better time for Fair Haven State to score a massive upset win than right after Northern Moravica's rivalry game? But Northern Moravica was dominant, and their defense did not allow a single point in this road game. Northern Moravica continued their torment of Fair Haven State, with Kim throwing a touchdown in the first half, while Okparro had a touchdown run in the second half, and they added four field goals to their two touchdowns.

It was a good game, they took care of business, and now, they are approaching week 4. But here's the question that many Northern Moravica fans have been wondering- how did Horace Browning entrust the starting QB job, and, by extension, his job, to a true freshman? Horace Browning is a strong-willed coach, who is now in his sixth season at this school. He was harshly criticized following the season, after the disappointing finish to last season. They started 9-0, and Northern fans had legitimate championship aspirations. However, they lost four of their last five games, including a 45-16 shellacking to the giants of Sadeg State University, out of Drawkland. Many fans called for his head then, saying that while he did a lot of good, he clearly was not capable of coaching in the postseason. Especially as they watched their archrival win yet another NSCF title.

In the next two weeks, in a two-part series, we're going to look at how Horace Browning entrusted the starting quarterback job to a true freshman from Chicoutimi, Saguenay. Coaches generally take more risks when their jobs are safe. When your job is on the line, you don't want to take a massive risk. But Horace Browning first discovered Chae Heung Kim when his new offensive coordinator, when Joon Ho Kweon, his offensive coordinator, came over from the Royal Kingdom of Quebec. Known in Quebec as a quarterback guru, he was the quarterbacks coach at Saguenay in the Royal Kingdom of Quebec, the same city where Chae Heung Kim was playing high school football. He knew that the starting quarterback was going to graduate, and they needed a succession plan. Who on this squad could be the starting QB?

The first order of business, of course, was recruiting Chae Heung Kim to play at Banija. Horace Browning decided to go to Quebec for himself, and see this kid play. He went over there, and he was amazed. Horace Browning allegedly told Joon Ho Kweon, upon his return to Banija, that Kim was "the best pure high school quarterback prospect I've ever seen". The kid was the perfect size, being 6'5, and 245 pounds. A big, strong quarterback, who would be able to take shots and would not go down easily. Who could stand and tower over the offensive line, and see his receivers downfield. He was raw, but could be developed.

Now, of course, it came to convincing him to leave everything he knows and come to Banija? Why would he go so far to go to school, and play football, when his hometown schools would want him to play at the same level? Horace Browning told him about his unique opportunities to start, and what Northern Moravica had to offer him. When Horace Browning visited him, he knew he had to hit it out of the park, as plenty of schools were going after him. He didn't want to promise the starting job, but when he went there, he promised an open competition for the job.

He also went next level about how great of a place that Northern Moravica would be for Chae Heung Kim. Of course, as Banija is a member of the Quebecois Commonwealth, he played up that with Commonwealth citizenship, it would be much easier to visit home than it would if he went to a foreign university in a different country. And, of course, the student body had a 500 member strong Quebecois population. He brought the head of the Quebecois Student Association with him, as well as the President of Zeta Kappa Koppa, Hyong Chul-Soo, a Quebecois fraternity on campus(which may or may not be allowed under NSCF rules). He was able to convince him that while he'd learn, some of his own people would be there with him, and he'd be at home. Horace Browning also visited Kim's school and watched a practice.

Zeta Kappa Koppa, and specifically, Hyong Chul-Soo, have been a major institution in the life of Chae Heung Kim when he arrived on campus. While Kim lives with the other student-athletes, it is rumored that he spends almost 'all of his free time' at the Zeta Kappa Koppa fraternity house on campus. Hwong Chul-Soo is said to make sure that nobody bothers Kim, and he led the charge of the fraternity to protect the dorms Loyola-Istria students in the week leading up to the North v. South Showdown. Hyong Chul-Soo is also confirmed to have accompanied Northern Moravica staffers when they went to Saguenay to wrap this on signing day.

That, largely, tells the recruitment portion. Next week, we'll focus on his on the field prep in the summer- how he turned from a wide eyed freshman to a blue blood starting quarterback in the blink of an eye.

Loyola-Istria comes away with the win, but do not leave unscathed as Jawara suffers a major injury

Image
Jawara lying on the field as the silent stadium stares on

ISTRIA- Isaka Jawara was the NSCF 17 Offensive Player of the Year, and the quarterback of the top ranked offense in NSCF 17. And, of course, he led his team from an at-large berth to a NSCF championship last year. He was known as the quarterback who could do it all, and he is a quarterback with plenty of talent. He can make all the throws, he can escape pressure, he can run, he can pass, but today, for the first time in his illustrious career as the starting quarterback of the Blue Thunder, he was grounded.

He was on his way to having a career day. On the Blue Thunder's first three drives, they were doing whatever they wanted at home against Ren Rep University. This school, still not having left the country to play a game yet this season, was on a roll. Loyola-Istria kicked the ball off to start the game, and immediately forced a three and out. Then the first drive for the Blue Thunder offense was a 12 play, 74 yard, drive that took 6:48, and ended in Jawara throwing a 4 yard touchdown pass on a fade route to junior receiver Adras Kappas, to give his team a 7-0 lead. Ren Rep University got a couple of first downs on the next drive, but eventually forced a punt. The Blue Thunder were pinned at their own 14 yard line.

The next drive for the defending champs was much shorter, just two plays. The first play was a 15 yard run by sophomore halfback Chinou Obea. The next play was all about Isaka Jawara. It was a read-option, and he stuck the ball out for Obea, and then Jawara decided to tuck it back in. The Ren Rep defense was undisciplined on the play, and they all followed the running back. Jawara ran around the other side, and busted up the far sideline 71 yards for a touchdown, and punctuating the score by diving across the goal line as the Ren Rep free safety desperately tried to chase down the quarterback. He could not, though the Blue Thunder missed the extra point, making the score 13-0.

A passing touchdown and a running touchdown to his name already, Jawara was ready to keep rolling. When the Blue Thunder got the ball back, they were again pinned deep, this time, at their own 7 yard line. They embarked on a 16 play, 93 yard touchdown drive that toook 8:33 off the clock, and midway through the 2nd quarter on third and goal, Jawara punctuated that drive by finding Kalactanian tight end Rayan Willsonton on a bootleg for a one yard touchdown pass, and the Blue Thunder were up 20-0. This offense was alive, coming to life, picking up where they left off when they gashed the Northern Moravica defense.

The first play of the next drive, however, was disastrous. Loyola-Istria called a passing play, and Jawara dropped back, deep into the pocket. He escaped pressure, by stepping up in the pocket, like he usually does, against a defensive end who blasted around the corner. He then rolled out wide, and tucking the football, began to run up the field. He was running at full speed, and looked like he was going to get at least 10-15 yards. But then, all of a sudden, Jawara made a cut, and he went straight down. The whole stadium gasped, and the New Istria Lightning Yard turned just about as silent as a museum.

It came clear quickly that he was not grabbing his knee, and he was grabbing his hamstring. He was helped heavily off the field, and after remaining on the bench for the rest of the series, got up, threw a pass on the sideline, and went to the locker room, where he did not return. The Blue Thunder offense, after that, absolutely shut down for the rest of the game. Only getting 3 more points the rest of the game, the defense did a beautiful job in pitching a shutout, but the energy that the stadium had from before simply wasn't there. What happened to the quarterback? Would he be OK? And how would the replacements do?

Head Coach Alanso Isa did not address reporters following the game, but he addressed the injury at his regularly scheduled press conference two days later, on Monday. "We have had more tests, and it is confirmed- Isaka Jawara has torn his hamstring. He will have surgery tonight at Loyola Hospital, and he will miss game time. We are not sure of the exact pace of his recovery, though he will for sure miss our game next week." Hamstring surgeries generally take 2-4 weeks to recover for, so the estimated time of recovery from this magazine will be either in time for week 6, or he could miss all the way up to week 8, including the North v. South Showdown.

Alanso Isa said that he would trust his other quarterbacks in this time period. "It is always tough to lose a starter, especially one of Isaka's caliber. He could make all the throws, and he's a NSCF champion. However, this is football, and in this sport, we have injuries. It's always next man up, and we have two other capable quarterbacks on this roster. Both Duta Condeh and Jibrin Mendy are capable of stepping in and playing well. The rest of the team is also going to have to step up. Our senior leaders, people like Ezekiel Zanta and Ismaela Baldeg will have to fill his role in the locker room, and people at every position will have more responsibility on their shoulders.

This is a team game, and until Jawara gets back, I do not want despair in this room. I want laser focus on the task at hand. We are trying to win a conference championship, and to do that, we need to win our next game. I hope that every player has a great week of practice, because the world does not stop with one injury. We are capable of winning games until Jawara returns, but that will require excellence on both sides of the football until then. I am confident that we are capable of doing that." While he is unsurprisingly confident, many Blue Thunder fans are worrying. We'll have to see how this team responds, as they have a home game against Fair Haven State next week, and if they can overcome the magnitude of this injury.

Inside the Away Team's Locker Room
Following the Game against Thereisnogodistan Community College

How do you describe an emotion? Even a strong one such as frustration, what precisely does the artist paint to reflect the scene?

Is it the slammed locker doors? The heads fallen into hands in a collapse of sadness and defeat? The silent glares of disappointment and anger?

How do you portray the tension? The emotion of the room? Do you paint the interwoven feeling of under-performance that connects every player?

Words or paintings could never portray the feeling, emotion and sight before his eyes thought George. The game had undoubtedly been their worst in the most recent memory and certainly the worst for any player on their team; his starting quarterback, senior Vidar Dupond who had just finally become comfortable in the pocket was now most likely going to be out for the rest of the contest if not his senior year, writhing in pain with seering chest pains after a rough sack in the first quarter. And his backup, Ramsay Goffe absolutely borked the entirety of the remainder of the game, even after George gave up on the air attack and tried to run the offense solely on the ground. The opposition saw that coming after they had picked Goffe off 4 times by the 4th quarter and their staunch defensive line and aggressive linebackers ensured that not a single one of the Bolt's four rushers got more then 75 yards; to add insult to injury, his fullbacks rushed for more yardage then the halfbacks.

George examined the scene before him, and in his head, he wondered if this was the sports world equivilant to how an army looked after a massive defeat; shattered faces, and shattered souls, nothing left but the pieces lying around; but George was determined to pick those pieces up and put the machine back together again.

He walked out of the doorframe to the coach's office he had been leaning on and walked into the center of the locker room, still holding his game clipboard in his hands. He turned around and did a full rotation of the room, looking at each and every player and getting a few of them to look up at him but not many, at least not until he called out "Alright, get out here. Let's go, get out here guys."

Slowly, the people that had been hiding under cold streams of water in the showers, or the stalls of the restroom slowly filed out into the center of the room, all of them looking at their coach who idly clapped his hand against the clipboard he was carrying. He looked at all of them, looked at the clipboard, and then back at them again and smiled. "Alright, so we lost guys. No point in ignoring that elephant, that was the worst performance I've ever seen from any of you. "

He held up his clipboard, as if to parade it in front of the defeated players "This playbook we have spent a decade on, to refine it, to show people our legacy as the best collegiate football program in Anthor wasn't tied to a single coach, or a single playbook, or a group of players.
It was ever-lasting. "

With little effort, he flung the clipboard into the trash bin near the office door. "So, that's why we're going to start over from scratch. We've barely won the single victory we did have, and we've lost badly the other two times, either by egregious game errors or gruesome score lines."

He pointed a finger at the man with a long dark pony tail, leaned up against one of the white lockers "Goffe, until you can show me something that wasn't tonight, you're benched effectively immediately. Wallace, you're up. You to keep the starting role, you have to fight for it; fight for it during practice, during off-training sessions, and during games. Same goes for you Ramsay, you want it back, do better then him."

"We're going to reconcentrate ourselves on a more methodical approach; this means we're going to be practicing every day, and I want everyone showing up at the field by 8 and we will be going till the evening. We're going to learn the plays like their in our bloods, like they were hard wired the day you were born and we will erase every one of these senseless mistakes you have all committed since we began this season."

"But most importantly, we are going to go forward. Does this always mean winning? No, not always. Does this mean still losing? No, definitely not. But like learning in a subject you despise, you're going to grow, every single off-day, every single game until we have perfected this new machine. Its not going to be done this single season, seniors you probably will never see it finished. But we will work on it, and we will keep going. Its still fresh in this season, and it is time to show these people how we bring the Thunder!"

National Signing Day : Negatives (and positives) in 2033 Recruiting Class

By Ly'vai Tukuafu-Moala

With the Class of 2033 all signed up, I figured, as the resident pessimist here at Allez les Doublebleus, that I’d quickly discuss the biggest misses, in terms of position groups, in this class.

So, without further ado, let’s take a look at where this class could have done better and where we might see some gaps that turn into issues down the road.

Cornerbacks

Jesus. 4 players graduating.

While USC is very well known for having excellent pool of depth and starting players who can make impact on turf, sometimes even the best USC teams cannot escape graduation in masses. And I mean like two thirds of a positional group graduating.

The Bleu et Blanc had an excellent stack of cornerbacks last QIS season after a transition year in which the cornerbacks struggled to make particular impact in 2031, but even with excellent statistics where St. Croix's finished in top 5 of almost every pass defended categories, the uncertain future for the cornerback corps has been extremely bothering for many fans. We are seeing not only the both starters graduating, but excellent substitution material in Yi Seung-Joo and solid leader in Heo Dong wook.

Fortunately, you got the immediate starting materials in No. 1 and 4 cornerback recruits of the nation, Antoine Gervais-Hayes (Levis, Capitale-Nationale : Academie St-Cyr) and Yi Seung-Heon (Baie-Comeau, Nord-Est : William A. Barrow Agricultural High School, Baie-Comeau), who are going to be very good players for the Bleu et Blanc. And given that USC does not always get the best guys available because of HSC/Baccalaureat/A-Level grades, this news was on a just perfect timing. It bolsters a weak depth for cornerbacks, a significant issue for past 3-4 years.

But, even then, there is need of better depth. They are at a position where it'd be nice to get a few more guys who could come in and make a difference on high-riding offences like that of Saguenay and Southern Manitoba, both with at least two high-profile Quarterbacks on their stable. Harold Mbembe (Montreal, Montreal : Ecole Secondaire Lionel Bourassa) and Sergei Chikatillo (Sherbrooke, Estrie : Jeonju Collegiate) are solid players, but this pair of three-star recruits were nowhere near the best of the class (though given the poor depth in Estrie for this high school recruiting class, Chikatillo was actually their no. 1 cornerback recruit) and expecting them to replace the likes of Moses "THE BEAST" Tapihana would be a bit of stretch for the time being.

Luckily, it looks like there is a good mesh of serviceable talent in 2030 and 2031 seasons as the quartet develops, so Alexis Krief-Jean should be able to remedy the lost depth that, once again, will take a hit when Nazir Makhloufi graduates. But the gap will definitely hurt the Bleu et Blanc down the road.

Defensive End

Yes, I know it's going to be very hard to criticise our haul for this class. In some ways this is similar to the issue we have with cornerbacks : both starters graduating and the replacement players having to be bunch of freshmen. Fortunately enough, we have linebacker cousins in Jerome Masak (Attawapiskat, Northwest : Attawapiskat Gymnasium) and Kennedy Sigurdsson (Attawapiskat, Northwest : Kungsdock Gymnasium), who racked 19 and 17 sacks in 4 playoff games they played all the way to the state championship game.

With Northwest being a pipeline that's recently on rise for most major programs, this is a good news. Unfortunately, the task of replacing Janic-Long may end up being overtly challenging for both, given their relative struggles against rushing offence, as well as the huge gap between high school and QIS football. If they can overcome that and start right away, sure, but at the moment the chances are 50/50 at best and don't expect them to excel right away.

On a more positive note....

This is not to say that USC has a poor recruiting class in any way. Like usual, St. Croix lands the 3rd best recruiting class of the season, trailing only Goose Bay and Mount Allison, while being ahead of the likes of Southern Manitoba, UPRI, Saguenay, Western Ontario, Queen's and Saguenay. Given the fall of Montreal Carabins in recruiting turf with the head coach Justin Cortese involved in a major scandal, USC's banner chances look even better than ever.

There were numerous positives on this year's recruiting class, including but not limited to :

- A Stud triplet of wide receivers that we always want to bring : You get an Altenbaum-esque fast receiver in Sebastien Deschalets (Quebec City, Capitale-Nationale : Frederic Sullivan HS), a bigger, reliable target in Nolan Damphousse (Moncton, Acadie : Ecole Secondaire Francois Abdelkader) and a smaller but shiftier playmaker in Collin Hwang (Gimli, Manitoba : Gimli High School) who all rank within top 15 for their class. With both their starting wideouts graduating, it is expected that the trio add solid competition for the starting job that's open once again.

- Clarence Waabshkii’ogin (Sioux Lookout, Ontario : The Sault Agricultural High School), stud running back, may be ready to start as a freshman running back. The reigning No. 1 recruit for running backs position hits 4.1, is flashy and most importantly of all jack-of-all-trades with excellent fundamentals and approach to the game. Sure, losing Cimankinda and Lessard-Park do hurt, but Waabshkii’ogin? He's a beast, and I can't wait him to be part of the USC's well-fabled lineup of running backs. With a possible Lemay-Tardif most likely penciled as the starting fullback, their back depth should be consistent enough for a solid year.

- Holy smokes, his legs : Like Fortier, Alexandre Jang (Quebec City, Capitale-Nationale) went to the famous College-Garneau program where he started all four years in both kicker and punter position. With his right leg that has once landed a 72 yard punt (favourable wind aside), USC should be set in the position for four years he will be with us.

- Defensive Tackle : Ahn Seung-Hyeon (Peterborough, Frontenac) might be an instant impact guy in the middle, and Matthieu Dufour-McMorris (Asbestos, Estrie : Thetford College) has a solid potential to develop into a MacKenzie Bamrounsavath-liteS. With Chernakov and Giannelli already developing faster than expected, the competition for the starting spot right next to Gavin Carruthers-Mann should be healthy for competition's sake.

Besulyt Flies in For The Victory 24-10

Besulyt played like they had all season. In this game Krossa only allowed a TD and a FG, whilst sacking the quarterback 5 times and causing two fumbles and a interception. There was no highlights besides a few great runs by Ruoho and a dot by Petersson for a touchdown. The real highlights were on the defense.

Two sacks by Gabriel Wusu and a forced fumble. 1.5 sacks by Tiitus Partanen. 0.5 sacks by Ilmari Tahtinen. One sack by Tero Takala. The freshman Johannes Ottosen got his first collegiate interception and Marcus Falk got a forced fumble for a touchdown. The defense has been performing well all series.

On the offense there was a 6 yard touchdown run from Jarmo Ruoho and a 68 yard touchdown pass from Matti Petersson to Saake Jokela. Petersson skipped his press conference whilst Ruoho acknowledged his skill.

Stats
Matti Petersson (25/33 366 yards, one touchdown, 5 carries, 16 yards)

Jarmo Ruoho ( 19 carries, 123 rushing yards, touchdown, fumble, 6 catches, 65 yards))
Anton Debuluwele (5 carries, 23 yards)
Niko Seppa (1 carry, 5 yards)

Aukusti Ranta (5 catches, 86 yards)

The Coven Secures Second Victory

Despite losing twice in a row, the ladies of The Coven did not lose hope. They continued to do their routine, the training, the little show they put on before every game, everything.

Just before their game against the University of Sorren, they stood on their side of the field in a "V" formation, with their captain, Xiao Xiao, in the middle. They were wearing dark purple robes and witch hats. They raised their arms before throwing off their hata and robes, revealing their purple and black uniform. They did a little dance to one of their theme songs*, which made the mostly male crowd cheer and scream.

The marvel didn't end at that though. After two defeats, they thought they should use their secret protocols, special techniques that only they can use.

One instance of this is when the merfolk Ursula was carrying the ball, with four large opponents ready to take it from her. She looked to her right, and Tremaine nodded in response. Just as Tremaine knelt in front of her, she jumped on her shoulder, performing the Gallows Pass, a pass at a trajectory so high only one of the vampire twins, Camellia or Carmilla, can catch.

Their team was a well-oiled machine, and as soon as Ursula was in the air, Camellia jumped and caught the ball, continuing the team's advance with the aid of her inhuman speed. The game went well for them, with a 30-20 victory.

Richardson University @ Raynor University

The game started off badly, and it didn't really get much better from there. On the first drive, Raynor managed to put up a field goal, marching down the field with no big plays from Richardson's defense before John Garrett and squad took the field, looking to answer. Instead, the quarterback let one fly, and, with Larry Foster tripping mid-route, cornerback Joar Norberg of Raynor was able to intercept the pass at the forty yard line. The Valanoran crowd, up 3 and with the ball, went nuts, and they were in it from that point on as Birk Lundstrom shredded Richardson's defense on his second drive for the first of what would end up being his three-score day.

On the second drive, already on their heels, the Richardson team managed to move the ball, but was forced to punt. Raynor scored come the next drive, their second touchdown of the game. Despite putting up more than 80 points over the last couple of weeks, the Governor's offense just couldn't move the ball, and with extended time on the field, their defense was exposed, even with Isaiah Bryce making tackle after tackle in space, they just couldn't seem to get a stop in that first half, the going up to 17-3 by the end of two quarters, thanks to a timely interception from Judas Wolfson on the goal line in the waning seconds.

In the third quarter, Richardson still couldn't put out an extended drive, and Raynor got their fourth and final score, their third touchdown, to go up 24-3, the most points Richardson had allowed all season. John Garrett, however, managed to at least make a game out of it, despite the crowd noise taking away much of his ability to call plays at the line of scrimmage, throwing for 55 yards and a score on that next drive to get up to 24-9 after Ta'Shaun Blue missed the extra point yet again. Come time for defense, now that they'd had some rest, Emmanuel Miller forced a punt with a sack, but he was on the field four minutes later, and, by the time they got their next possession, there were six minutes left in the fourth quarter.

Again, John Garrett drove down the field for another touchdown by way of his arm, but it wasn't enough, Richardson dropping its first game of the season to fall to 3-1. Despite this, they still hold the Big Eight by a tiebreaker, due to a massive point differential.

Hopefully, this team can win out after a let down, having blown out two straight teams, putting up 40+ in each game and allowing only 6 total. The Big Eight seems to be a tighter race than usual this season, with Raynor and Cold Hill each sitting at 3-1, and Richardson needs as many home games as possible if it is to have a shot at winning the NSCF title game.

Cold Hill @ Mar Sara Tech

The Buffalo were certainly underdogs coming into this one, with a 2-1 record against the 2-1 Raiders, who had home field advantage. It was tightly contested all the way through, with Mar Sara Tech putting up two field goals in the first quarter.

However, thirteen minutes into the game, Thorn Davis dropped back, and couldn't find an open man. When pursued, he stiff armed the rusher, rolling right and charging down the field from the fifty yard line. The massive human being broke two more tackles on his way to a fifty yard touchdown run to take the lead 7-6. Again, however, Folke Danielsson's leg came through after an Angelo Gordon sack on third and goal. The kicker was already having himself a day, having hit from 34, 44, and 32, respectively, reliability that most Ranorian kickers can only dream of.

Davis was not to be denied, though, notching his second touchdown of the day on the ground on third and goal after Hue Ross drove the Buffalo down the field by way of ground, when an exhausted Ross fumbled a snap, forcing Davis to improvise and leap his 240 pound self over the line of scrimmage for a touchdown, and a 14-9 lead.

The Raider defense locked onto him after that though, recording 4 sacks from then until the fourth quarter, and their offense put up another pair of field goals, one from an astounding 50 yards out, to take back the lea, 15-14. Cold Hill's explosive, but inconsistent, offense was struggling to keep up with a slow but steady Mar Sara unit that hadn't had many big plays, but was managing to stay in the football game.

Come the fourth quarter, after a ridiculous sixth field goal, Thorn Davis looked to drive back down the field, but the offense sputtered out, and was forced to punt. Fortunately, one of the most highly touted punter/kicker recruits in Ranorian history came through, pinning the Raiders inside the seven yard line. When they tried running the ball, Deangelo Gordon was there, stuffing the play for a loss, and, on play action, his older, faster brother, Angelo, came off the edge for the biggest play of the game, drilling QB Juliann Martensson in the end zone, laying him out for a safety to get the ball back, and get within two points at 18-16. On the final drive for the Buffalo, Thorn Davis drove down the field, looking every bit the freak athlete/generational passer that he was touted to be coming out of high school, and threw a laser to running back Caleb Katterfield down the seem for the game winning touchdown. It's safe to say that everyone expected a game winning field goal from Folke Danielsson, but Mar Sara Tech was unable to cross the fifty on their own final drive, outside backer Earnest Longhorn ending the game with Cold Hill's fifth sack of the night.

With the win, Cold Hill is tied for 1st place in the Big 8 at 3-1, thanks to Richardson's loss, but is third thanks to a tiebreaker against Richardson and Raynor. That makes next week's game that much more important. If Richardson drops its Week 5 matchup against Duchess Marion, the Big 8 lead would go to the winner of Raynor's visit to Cold Hill.

University of the Commonwealth 27-10 Analoch City University--wire report

(CPA) Belle Haven--James Knapke threw for 2 touchdowns and Fred Coppet ran for another as University of the Commonwealth won their third straight game in NSCF 18 with a 27-10 victory over Analoch City University in front of 41,812 at Jacob Gleason Field in Belle Haven.

The UC defensive unit continued their stellar performance as they held the Rebel offense to just 1 touchdown--the 4th consecutive game they have held an opponent to less than 10 points--and just 85 yards net rushing for the game.

After the Warriors won the coin toss and elected to defer to the second half, Analoch City (1-3) were unable to make a dent on their first possession against an aggressive UC defensive line that has shown an enormous improvement over from their 2017 domestic form.

Knapke found Ronnie Moore for his second touchdown of the campaign, a 33 yard strike over the middle with 6:18 in the first quarter to put UC ahead 7-0.
Alfonso Mack intercepted a William Rosenburg pass at the Rebel 40 that set up Fred Coppet for a 3 yard run to cap off a 6 play drive to extend the lead to 14-0 with just under 3 minutes to play in the 1st half.

Analoch was able to get on the scoreboard as time expired before the break with a 45 yard field goal by Sergie Bakeman to cut the deficit to 14-3.

UC took the second half kickoff 63 yards on 7 plays to set up Nick Fields for a 44 yard kick to restore the 14 point advantage. After the Warrior defense put Analoch into a 4th & 26 situation from their own 8 yard line with a sack and an 11 yard loss on a reverse, Malon Samuel took the resulting punt back 22 yards to the Rebel 36 which set up Knapke's 2nd touchdown pass of the game, a 30 yard bullet to tight end Hunter Folksterma to stretch the lead to 24-3 with 8:27 left in the third quarter.

Fields added a second field goal in the final quarter to push the UC advantage to 24, but Adam Calhoun caught a 46 yard touchdown from Rosenburg with 2:50 left in the game to close the scoring. The Warriors recovered the ensuing onside kick and were never seriously challenged the rest of the way to increase their record in the Mineral Conference to 3-1, and move into 2nd place as a result of Besulyt Air Academy's victory over Vietussia.

The Warriors will close out the first half of their schedule with a trip to the University of Humaliwo, 40-17 winners over New Jarwel, on matchday 5. Then will come a rematch against Besulyt at Gleason Field, which could go a long way to deciding the champion of this conference and a berth in the playoffs.

NSCF 18 RECAP: ZEPHYR CONFERENCE DAYS THREE AND FOUR

Imperial Military Academy 0 7 3 0 10
Ceneisis Naval Academy 3 7 10 3 23

Oh, boy. You go down with some intestinal bug and this is what you get, one NSCF matchday missed and two Fleftic college football games not gabbed on. Oh, well. You take what you can get. And what you're getting is two matchday recaps for the price of one! Yes, dear readers, I will try my very best not to run out with ways to narrate the plays of the four games played by Abanhfleft's colleges in the NSCF. So why don't we get started already? My carpal tunnel's already acting up....

Okay, so first up we have the Battle of the Armed Forces Colleges. I'm not sure exactly which branch of the Vannish Armed Forces go the Imperial Military Academy but I do know that the Ceneisis Naval Academy handles a substantial number of Navy cadets on their way to the Fleftic Navy. But the mere fact that both of these colleges are responsible for training the next generation of their respective nations' armed forces was more than enough to establish an immediate rivalry between these two schools. Enough of a rivalry that both teams are ready to shove their wins over the other team in the other's teams faces whenever they have the chance.

But onto the game itself. Imperial versus Ceneisis Naval. Despite all the hype surrounding this contest, this game started off with a field goal from 48 yards away, courtesy of Ceneisis' Ataullah Nagi. Not the greatest way to start the game but hey, at least it puts points on the board. But Ceneisis' lead wouldn't last very long as in the second quarter, the Rangers scored the first touchdown of the game after Charles Marlon threw a pass to Jamaal Ivers on a fly route, sending General Adelawson Field wild with celebration. Then it was the Rangers' lead's turn to not last very long when Justine Henderson received the handoff from Waylon Dalton on 3rd and goal on the 1 and she crashed through the Imperial defense for her first touchdown of the game.

Ceneisis received the ball on the second half but they were only able to advance as far as the 30-yard line before the Midshipmen called upon the services of Ataullah Nagi once again for the field goal, which he converted without a fuss. The Midshipmen then took full control of the game after Mansur Abadjiev picked off the pass from Charles Marlon to Bartt (yes, Bartt with two Ts) Nelson to set up another Ceneisis drive on the Imperial 40. And, you guessed it, Justine Henderson once again scored a touchdown when she found space in the zone coverage of Imperial and she ran the ball to the pylon after juking past Kev Carteborgen.

The rest of this game was about field goals though, with Randall Coolidge scoring one from 38 yards for Imperial and Ataullah Nagi netting a relatively simpler 25-yarder, and it was Ceneisis Naval Academy who walked away with the spoils from Imperial Hills.

Ceneisis Naval Academy 3 7 0 0 10
University of Auster 0 0 0 0 0

Nothing much to report from the Midshipmen's game in matchday 4. You could say that they barely scraped past the University of Auster just days after Ceneisis absolutely dominated the Royalhawks' compatriots Imperial Military Academy. Ataullah Nagi started off the proceedings with another field goal, this time from 40 yards, and then Marcus Cruz barrelled through the Auster defense in the second quarter to increase the Midshipmen's lead to 10. Both teams didn't score any more points after that but there were a few close calls, most notably when Waylon Dalton was strip-sacked by Peter Heidenstam and Lamont Daveyelder pounced the ball. Unfortunately for the Royalhawks though, they couldn't do anything with the ball on that drive and they were forced to punt it away on a three-and-out. This happened in the fourth quarter though, if you were wondering. Oh, and Ataullah Nagi made a rare miss in the third quarter from 35 yards away. You don't expect him to miss from that distance, but maybe his feet had gotten used to playing on Filibusters' Street that the turf of Tatuwal Memorial Field feels like an away pitch for him.

Thereisnogodistan Community College 13 3 10 13 39
Bowerstone University 0 3 0 0 3

After their close loss to Ceneisis Naval, TCC got back to winning ways with a mighty thumping of Anthor's Bowerstone University. Antonio Christofferson started off the proceedings with a touchdown pass to Kerry Vickery, but an ill wind picked up inside Richard Dawkins Park and the normally on-target Praxedes Ipanema sliced the ball well wide of the goalposts. But it wasn't just the end for the Atheists, though. In fact, it was just the beginning. Kerry Vickery suffered a hit to his helmet necessitating his withdrawal from the game following the concussion protocol and TCC's lone reserve player, Adolph Patchett, stepped in at tight end in Vickery's place. And Patchett made his impact almost immediately by landing TCC's second touchdown of the game by running for the pylon on on 4th and inches on the 3-yard line. This time, Praxedes Ipanema landed the extra point, putting the Atheists 13-0 up at the start of the second quarter.

Bowerstone U made sure that there would be no shutout when they scored a 46-yard free kick courtesy of Vince McCormick at the end of their first second quarter drive but that would turn out to be the only points that they would put up on the board as TCC eventually ran away with the game. But it didn't look that way in the second quarter when Bowerstone also managed to hold the Atheists to only a single field goal. But it turns out that Thereisnogodistan were actually just warming up, so to speak, for the coming onslaught in the second half. Yes, Bowerstone did manage to hold TCC to yet another field goal to start off the third quarter when Domenic Adelson managed to sack Antonio Christofferson to bring about a 4th and 10 on the 32-yard line. Then after Clement Rider fumbled the pass from Vidar Dupond, Thereisnogodistan had a golden opportunity to increase their lead even more, and they took it through a Vince Almaguer touchdown.

In the fourth quarter, two Praxedes Ipanema field goals sandwiched a Joel Fesler touchdown on 1st and 10 on the Bowerstone 22. There was actually a bit of a delay while the officials worked to confirm the ruling on the field after some concerns that Fesler was actually out of bounds when he caught the ball, but the replay showed that Fesler just managed to keep his tiptoes a few millimeters from the out-of-bounds stripe when he caught the ball, and the touchdown stood.

Thereisnogodistan Community College 0 7 7 0 14
Imperial Military Academy 3 7 0 7 17

Ah, now this was a real nail-biter, a far different thing from all the other matches I've gabbed on and on previously. This was a contest that really went down to the wire, and rightfully so, I might add. Smarting from their defeat against Ceneisis Naval in matchday 3, Imperial Military Academy looked to get their revenge against Thereisnogodistan Community College, and boy did they get it. Randall Coolidge got the ball rolling with a 37-yard field goal (why is it that all of these games bar TCC-Bowerstone started off with field goals? Am I the only one wondering about that?) and that was how things stood at the end of the first quarter, 3-0 to the Rangers.

Imperial Military then increased their lead to 10 after a 6-yard rush from Theo Brodd before TCC responded with a 21-yard touchdown reception from Antonio Christofferson to Vince Almaguer, all in the second quarter. The Atheists then thought that they had secured the lead after a 5-yard rushing touchdown from Anto Christofferson himself, only for TCC hearts to get broken in the last two minutes of the fourth quarter when Jamaal Ivers caught a Hail Mary pass from the TCC 30-yard line all the way to the end zone.

Whoo! Looks like we did it, boys and girls! We successfully gabbed on college gridiron! Don't expect this to be a regular thing, though; I really want to keep making only one gab per matchday. But that's only if everything else cooperates with me. Heng Jiangming, Heng Jiangming, Heng Jiangming....

New Digs, Same Results

With the continued involvement of the VSC inside the likes of the NSCAA and the NSCF, the leading schools of Raynor University and Mar Sara Tech decided to change things up a little. Both schools commissioned a Drawkian visual graphics team to redesign the school logos and another to redesign a set of new uniforms for the football programs. Tech's logo saw the biggest change, with the symbol changing from that of a red bandit riding a white horse on a black background, to an in depth image of a masked fighter wearing red and black gear, sword in hand, and cape billowing out in the wind behind them as the advance on their foe. It is a simple but pleasing design that is sure to sit well with the Raiders fans and alumni, keeping a traditional image but updating it to something more modern in design. Raynor's design changed very little, merely exchanging the white for silver, and making the image feel a bit more crisp and defined than it had in previous iterations, something subtle yet elegant, keeping in tradition with a school that prides itself in tradition and class, a striking comparison to that of Mar Sara Tech culture and designs.

That distinction continues on into the new uniforms as well, with Mar Sara going with flashy and vibrant designs, except for their all black alternate home uniforms, which are very striking indeed and will be debuted in the next home game that the Raiders have. Some may take issue with the placement of the words Mar Sara on the traditional away kit, but the school board supports that design that the Drawkian team came up with. Overall, if you like the red, black, and white color scheme that is the traditional colors of Mar Sara Tech, then you are sure to like the new uniforms just as much as you did the old ones. Raynor's uniforms got a little redesign, but the talking point has to the be "icy white" away uniforms that have been designed, a very simple yet intimidating design that is quite apt for the traditional school. Also of note, is how the alternate home kit, the one with white pants and helmet, is that it is the only one of the four uniforms that does not have the traditional numbers on the sleeves, while the alternate away uniform goes for an minimalist white and black design that has been getting mixed reactions from the alumni.

For the Raiders though, the new digs are doing nothing to help ease the pain of two very difficult to swallow losses, after the team was thoroughly demolished when they went to Ranoria and were blasted by Richardson that saw their prolific offense come to a complete halt. Nothing went right for the Raiders in that game and the scoreline punctuated just how awful a day that the team had had, but they knew they could bounce back. However Ranoria's second school in Cold Hill came into Mar Sara as the Raiders were debuting their new home uniforms and spoiled the party with a surprising twenty-three to eighteen victory that leaves the Raiders in quite the predicament if they wish to make it into the postseason. With two losses before even the halfway point and with the Ranorian schools as well as Raynor University looking to be difficult games, the Raiders have a lot of work to do if they wish to get to the needed six wins in conference play to stand a good chance at making it to the post season, even if the playoffs are likely already out of the question.

For the Rockets however, things are looking pretty spectacular, as they have had an amazing start to their conference schedule, only losing in their trip to Mar Sara, by the narrowest of margins, and are coming off a high of beating Richardson University and stopping their undefeated run. Let us not forget that this is the same Richardson that has more or less run rampant since they have emerged onto the scene and have made the lives of all the other teams in the Big Eight conference very miserable. For the Rockets to get a win over such an esteemed opponent definitely puts a lot of win in their sails, as they sit atop the conference standings and have shown great discipline and stregnth in their wins, with the defense showing far better than anyone could have imagined from the pass happy school. Perhaps it is true that the best defense is just a good offense and that will be a trend that the Rockets will look to keep going as they wrap up the first half of conference play with the hopes of staying atop the standings. If Birk Lundström can continue to manage the game and hit the occasional big play, there is no reason to doubt the Rockets title contention and the possibility of the team making it into the playoffs.

The match started pretty great for our Hakwers winning the coin toss,Hawkers chose to receive when OMC started with the kickoff the ball was returned for a TD by our WR Blake Sheeren, then Occhenford manage to tie the game with a their good offense,Alenburg manage to score another TD thanks to run by RB currently FB Raphael Van Der Merwe on the OMC 2 yard-line,the game continued with another succesfull offense game from OMC scoring another TD but our Hawkers managed to leave the 1st Quarter with the advantage, thanks to a 25-yard run made by Jason"The Lightning"Borttles the was 21-14,the fun started on 2nd Quarter with a intercepted pass returned to a TD by CB and "Claw Legion" member Xavier Pierce but extra point was missed,OMC had another offense opportunity but without any success, the 2nd continued with regularity with the teams looking for scoring and the 2nd ends with Hawkers winning 27-14

3rd Quarter begins with Hawkers winning 27-14 but the battle continued with both teams trying to score, but OMC defense had awakened and started to give Hawkers really rough times, but our team managed to scored other TD thanks to 4th&2 QB sneak play made by rookie Tyrel Smith but EP was missed again the was 33-14,the 4th Quarter went on the same defense vs defense without any scoring but our team celebrated another victory as newcomers and their second game outside Alenburg.

Loirgrundzodd Hawkers QB Michael Robertson was asked about the game against undefeated team from Relandrat Unversity and something else during a press conference

"Hello my name is Jake Griffin from Fox Sports Alenburg and this is my question for you Mr Robertson how do you feel and what the rest of the team feels knowing that your are going to play against head of the conference and unbeated team from Relandrat university?"

"Speaking for myself i feel excited for this game we made it through until right now and we are going to make the same thing against Relandrat and other teams from the league, for the undefeating part they have a really good game in general but they must not understimate us as we also are not going to understimate them, i am ready and rested for the game"

"My name is Eren Cooper from ABGBC and my questions is What do think about the fact that some people outside Alenburg and even some Alenburgians say that Hakwers fans are too radical?"

"I would not say radical,i would the say they are patriotic and they feel every game, every play like they were on the field and playing with us,that is going to be a factor for our game against Relandrat every fan that is going to be there Loirgrunzoddian or not is an important factor because they are our support and in brotherhood we will rise as the Hawk,no more questions thank you very much"

Those were the words from QB Michael Robertson rested and ready for the game against Relandrat University,a starting for a long time rivalry? or maybe a casual game? we will see it on February 13
